This is a true story. Though it happened long ago, my wife really did ask me to write a poem as her Christmas present.
Since we are being good citizens, we have been staying home as much as possible. Finding time for projects we have been putting off for years, like going through filing cabinets. Turns out my wife saves all sorts of things (hence the need for filing cabinets). I remembered writing this, but had no idea what happened to it.
Not only do I have no idea how to write a poem, I have no idea how to read one either ;-)
I just could not wait till the weekend to do a more thought of video and just wanted to join in right now. Thanks Kate @therealk8te (The Impossible Girl) and Kendra @kkomppa (without a nick name yet) for the wonderful idea. I might b spamming you in the future, also with more serious videos.
Thanks Old Man Fern @allthingsfern, Bud @bwwhitney,Jennifer @naturelvr-69 and Preacher Pete @tvoom for your contributions!
The professor’s in the house again, again...
Keeping it real for @itstherealus and @therealk8te and @kkomppa... I hope everyone has a pleasant weekend... This is Elizabeth Cotten’s arrangement of Vestapol, probably the least known and most impactful, famous guitar tune ever... “Libba” Cotten passed in 1987, and I inadvertently extended her life into 2000 when I discuss the tune later in the recording...
This singing bowl meditation may be used with the aim of reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and increasing peace. To do this meditation focus the mind on the sound of the bowls this can then create mental clarity and an emotionally calm and stable state.
Namaste "I bow to the divine in you"

For the friend who wanted a mp3 version of my video.
I captured this hummingbird perched a couple of weeks ago, at the beginning of our campus closure. What, about a month ago, actually?
Wow.
BTW, I am almost 100% certain this is the one that “owns” the territory across from where I work. Some other hummingbirds may try to invade for food, but this one pretty much just hangs out and feeds and lets me get this close (about 4 ft/1.2 meters). I think this is also the humming bird at the top of the tree in a video form a couple of weeks ago.
I know it sounds strange that I think I recognize them, but there it is. Yes, I believe, deeply, they communicate with me. Not all the time, not full sentences, but they talk to me in their own prickly, unfriendly, zippy way. They make me feel calm, they sooth my soul. And make me smile.
Anyway, lots of zippy physical distance hugs to all y’all and to Algy @adventuresofalgy. I guess I can call it a hummingbird hug, since hummingbirds only do physical distance hugs. They are pretty, but the ain’t the friendliest (and they are certainly not fluffy) birds.
On my walk today I saw some nice chalk drawings from the neighborhood kids and a picture on a garage that someone created. So I am sharing some of what I saw because I thought they were cute and might put a smile on your face too.
On the local news they said exercise and vitamin C helps to make your immune system stronger. I wear a Fitbit so I get at least 10,000 steps a day just over 4 miles. The Fitbit helps to keep me on track.
If you have topics you would like me to talk about, give me the word. Also, thanks everyone for your comments, input and discussions on my topics. Thank you so very much!

For @itstherealus from The Impossible Girl @therealk8te and @kkomppa (not sure if she really likes her nickname).
Your roving @itstherealus reporter checking in from the Iowa woodlands with his faithful companion, Nike... trying to shake off the quarantine blues...
Just a quick note to let you know that during this time of uncertainty, Lux Lit is sharing some non-photography related content to, hopefully, put a smile on your face, make you think, or maybe even say “Oh, shit! I can’t fucking believe Lux Lit posted this! Too fucking funny!”
Also, please consider visiting and/or following @itstherealus, perhaps even contributing something. Tumblr has a strong, supportive photography community, and this is an excellent way to feel the social distance, as @stephiramona and @heterotopian prefer to call it, physical distance, love.
