I'm thinking about doing a fanfic on Ao3 about Lindel (Li Mei x Sindel), but first I'm finishing producing one about Taleena (Mileena x Tanya), which was already being done a while ago.
I would like to know if you guys would read a taleena fanfic and then one about lindel?

Can I be honest for a moment? I enjoy Taleena as much as everyone else. But I must say that it felt like the writers were trying a bit too hard to make Tanya more like Jade and it shows in her dynamic with Mileena. Part of the intrigue of the dynamic was kinda never being sure of the truth surrounding Tanya's feelings for Mileena. We know Mileena's head over heels for her,but can we be as certain of Tanya?
I hate to say it,but that was one thing MKX did kinda well or at least better than MK1. Gave Tanya(and by proxy, her relationship with Mileena) some sort of flavour. Were they toxic circa MKX? Honestly, maybe. But it felt real(we all have seen a relationship where it's clear that one party is more attached/in love with their partner than their partner is with them).
Tanya in MK1 feels......sanitized. There's nothing fun about her in her story or origins. Plus it felt the Kitana x Jade storyline was handed to Taleena instead. Taleena was always supposed to feel like a dark mirror of Jadana. But now? Does it even make sense for Jade to make an appearance, since Tanya's essentially filling her spot.
I actually agree with all of this. I’ve never talked about Taleena in MK1 too much but it does feel very JadeXKitana-ish in the dynamics that was presented, which honestly I don’t like. I really didn’t realize how much I was gonna miss Tanya’s old personality until I saw her in MK1 and I just don’t like her now. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate new Tanya, but she just doesn’t interest me. She’s just there.
I am happy to see I’m not the only one feeling this way about them though.

Taleena this, Jadana that. I raise you Skartara - Skarlet x Nitara. A blood mage getting involved with the literal creator of the very art/magik that she practices. Could be fun in that mentor getting entangled with her precocious protege/student kind of way.
(There's also the fact that they were both involved with the same man at some point.......and that half of Skarlet's arsenal in MK11 is directly linked to Nitara in some way. I'm not saying that it's giving obsessed......But it is a little gay of Skarlet to just collect things connected to Nitara or her home realm. Like, girl, just admit that you have a crush on her.)
Wait, you're on to something, Anon. Skarlet got some fruit in her blood. Source? Because I said so.
Mentor x protege, Gfs that consume blood together, I see the vision.
Honestly, if Skarlet comes back for mk1, I would like it if Nitara and her teamed up.
Or
Maybe Skarlet will be the high mage from Jade's kingdom.

“The Police Chief” Oscar “Spooky” xReader OnMyBlock
Tumblr media
Based on: “Oh my god. Praise the lord for your account. You have imagined of all the characters I like. And they're grammatically correct. Do you know how hard to find that is? Omg. Okay, so. I have two ideas for imagines. The first is an Oscar x Reader where the new chief of the freeridge police moves in and becomes neighbours with Oscar?”
Author: Alana
“Only three more boxes, (y/n).” You encouraged yourself, walking back outside of the house to retrieve more boxes from your truck.
You were new to the neighborhood, having just moved from San Francisco, CA.
You were transferred from the San Francisco Police Department to take the position as Chief of the Freeridge Police Department.
You were nervous about the move for multiple reasons. 1) Because you were becoming the youngest police Chief in the state of California, at the age of 22. 2) You had heard about a lot of gang business that goes on in the area you were moving to and 3) You were often belittled, not just by the ones you arrested, but also by your fellow officers because you were a female officer.
You tried to push the negative thoughts aside as you grasped a crate, full of DVD’s, from your trunk. You slowly began to pull the crate towards you, trying to be as careful as possible with the fragile discs.
You heard a car pull up in the driveway next to you, but you didn’t bother to look. You grunted softly as you lifted the heavy crate, holding on for dear life so you wouldn’t drop them.
“Of course dad left the heavy stuff to me.” you rolled your eyes.
You slowly backed away from the trunk, now fully holding the crate. You sighed in relief, “Now I just have to make it to the front door. I’ve lifted dummies heavier than this, during training. I’ve got this.” You gave yourself a mini pep talk, taking a large step towards the front door.
Your eyes widened as the sudden action caused the crate to slip from your hands, yet the crate never hit the ground.
Another pair of arms caught the crate for you, “Let me help you with this.” A gruff voice offered.
You looked up to meet breathtaking brown eyes. You stared into the stranger’s eyes and found yourself smiling like an idiot, “Thank you..”
He stood there with an eyebrow raised and chuckled softly, “Where should I put this?” He asked, waiting for your instructions.
You snapped out of your daze and blushed, “Oh right! I’m sorry,” You apologized, “Right through the front door and to the left. There should be some space on the ground for it.” You informed him, motioning to the door.
He nodded and walked off, following your directions.
You looked around, wondering where he had come from you. You noticed that the car that pulled into the driveway next to you had the driver’s seat door ajar, with the engine still running.
You smiled more to yourself, realizing that he came to your rescue as quickly as he could. At least I have a nice neighbor!
He walked back outside and grabbed your last two boxes with ease. Not bothering to wait for your permission.
He came back outside a few moments later, walking straight to his car. He turned off the engine and walked back over to you. “Hi, I’m Oscar.” He introduced, approaching you with his hand out.
You gingerly placed your hand into his large, callused one. Shaking his hand, you introduced yourself, “Hi, Oscar. I’m (y/n), your new neighbor.” You quickly caught yourself, “Wait, that was obvious. I don’t know why I said that. I’m sorry.” You apologized for the second time to him.
Oscar thought your rambling was cute, but he didn’t show that on his face. He nodded his head down at you, “It’s nice to meet you, (y/n).” He continued shaking your hand slowly, neither of you letting go. “What brings a beautiful lady like you to this neighborhood?” He asked, genuinely curious.
Okay, he’s either going to be into this or he’s going to be intimidated by my position. You cleared your throat awkwardly before locking eyes with Oscar, “I’m the new police Chief for Freeridge Police Department. I’m Chief (y/l/n).” You said proudly, feeling no shame for your accomplishment. You worked your butt off to become the youngest Chief.
Oscar’s eyes widened a bit before he quickly retracted his hand.
You frowned to yourself, concluding that he’s the intimidated type. Well there goes that chance.
Shoving his hands into his pockets, Oscar smiled a little and nodded his head at you, “Well it’s nice to meet you, once again, (y/n). But I have to get going.” He excused himself, walking back to his house.
You sighed to yourself. Closing the back of your trunk, you made your way back to your new home.
Boxes and crates and bags were tossed all about the living room, recklessly. It looked like a tornado had come through. You weren’t going to complain though, because you enjoyed organizing and decorating rooms. So this was just another project for you to do until you started your job in a few days.
Walking over to an empty spot on the floor, you laid down and just stared up at the ceiling. Needing only a second to relax and think about the day’s events thus far.
Your eyes fell closed and Oscar’s face immediately popped into your mind. He’s not the usual guy you would give a second glance to, but he was pretty attractive, you couldn’t deny that.
His eyes were captivating and you even caught that little smile he was trying to hide. But every chance you thought you could possibly have with him vanished once he quickly pulled his hand from yours after hearing you’re a police Chief.
Your restless thoughts were interrupted by your cellphone ringing. You groaned softly, sitting up to answer your phone, “Hey, dad.”
-
Cesar watched Oscar’s interaction with you from his window. He smirked to himself, knowing that Oscar isn’t one to willingly go and help others. He only helps if it benefits him in some way. Which means that he must like you or something.
That’s why Cesar was beyond confused when he witnessed Oscar pulling his hand from yours and abruptly turning around.
Cesar knitted his eyebrows in confusion as he opened the door for Oscar to enter. “Dude, what was that about?” Cesar asked, stepping aside for his brother.
Oscar walked into the house, straight past Cesar. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He brushed off, heading to the kitchen.
Rolling his eyes, Cesar followed Oscar with a knowing look. “You wouldn’t have helped her if you didn’t like her.” He stated with a factual tone. “So why did you suddenly bail on her?” Cesar interrogated.
Oscar grabbed a beer from the fridge, twisting the cap off with his bare hand. “She’s a cop, mano. But not just any cop, she’s the new Chief.” Oscar informed, taking a long sip of his beer and finally looking at Cesar.
“Ohhhhhh... yeah, that explains it.” Cesar shrugged off, “But she still seemed nice. Don’t you think you should get to know her a bit before you dismiss her, Oscar?” The younger Diaz reasoned.
Oscar shook his head, “I already know how this’ll play out, Cesar. She either finds out who I am and avoids me the rest of her time here or she arrests me for the gang business that we are so clearly involved in. I mean come on, the guys are on our lawn like every day.” Oscar sighed, taking another sip.
Cesar quietly watched his brother for a minute, thinking of how he could disagree with his brother’s reasons.
Leaning against the counter, Cesar nodded at Oscar. “Okay, you’re right.” Cesar began, acknowledging his brother’s thoughts. “But how about you just go tell her who you are before she has to hear it from someone else? Then it won’t be a huge deal or anything.” Cesar suggested, like it was the most obvious idea in the world.
Oscar couldn’t argue with Cesar’s idea. It was a good one. And hopefully there would be no negative affects from it. Worst case, you just don’t talk to him, right?
-
You were tired, but you figured it would be easier to unpack some of the boxes now rather than later. Then there would be less to do in the future.
You quickly caught the ceramic mug that had slipped from your grasp, “What is up with me today?” You asked yourself, setting the mug inside of a cabinet, along with the other mugs that you had just unwrapped.
Where’s the silverware? You wondered, leaving the kitchen.
You walked through the maze of boxes that were placed all around the living room and kitchen, looking for the box labeled “silverware”.
“I know I brought it in.” You huffed quietly to yourself, lifting up a box to check the name.
Suddenly the doorbell echoed throughout the house, causing you to knit your eyebrows in confusion. But you opened the door nonetheless.
The door was pulled open to reveal Oscar Diaz standing there looking down at your welcome mat.
He smiled at the mat before looking up to lock eyes with you, “Hey.. I’m sorry about earlier when I suddenly got weird, (Y/n).” He apologized, kind of awkwardly, seeing as he’s not used to apologizing to anyone.
You weren’t expecting to see Oscar again any time soon, but it made you happy to see that your job didn’t completely push him away.
“It’s alright. You’re not the first to react like that and I’m certain you won’t be the last.” You smiled softly, leaning against your doorway and watching Oscar.
“Well, look. I figured I could make it up to you by taking you to one of the best places in town to eat for dinner.” Oscar offered, “That is, if you would want to.” He finished.
Now that you thought about it, you were starving. You’ve been so busy with unpacking that you didn’t realize it was already dinner time.
You glanced back at your messy house and sighed, “I would love to, but I really should keep unpacking or I’ll never get it done.” You smiled apologetically, looking back up at Oscar.
“Well if you wanted some help unpacking, we could always order delivery from that spot.” He offered with a shy smile. “That way we could tackle both things at once.”
You couldn’t argue with this reasoning. Besides, you would get to spend more time with your new hot neighbor. So you agreed to letting him help you unpack.
-
Oscar released a booming laugh as he pulled out a ceramic flamingo statue. Holding it up, he looked over at you amused, “Who keeps flamingo statues? That’s so weird, (y/n).”
You scoffed as a blush crept to your cheeks, “Excuse me, I didn’t allow you to help me unpack so that you could judge me, Oscar. Besides... it was on sale..” You giggled softly, breaking down a box in front of you.
“I’m judging you a lot right now.” He chuckled deeply, setting the statue on the counter and opening another box.
You playfully rolled your eyes and tossed the broken down box onto the floor. “If I felt like being judged about what I buy, I would have had my mom help me unpack, you know.” You noticed Oscar was about to say something else when the door bell rang.
You followed Oscar to the front door. “Delivery for (y/n) (y/l/n).” The delivery man smiled once you opened the door.
“Yes, that’s me. How much do I owe you?” You asked, reaching into your pocket for the money.
Oscar gently nudged you aside, “It was my idea. I’ll pay.” He reached into his pocket, pulling out a wad of cash. “How much?”
The delivery guy froze and stared at Oscar horrified, clearly knowing exactly who he was. “I-it was $20.95, s-sir.” He stuttered out, avoiding eye contact with Oscar.
You watched the interaction closely, looking at Oscar confused and then back to the delivery guy. Oscar placed $30 in the man’s hand and took the bag of food. “Keep the change.” He said, closing the door and walking towards the kitchen with the food.
“What was that about..?” You asked with a raised eyebrow, hopping up onto the counter and pulling the food out of the bag.
Oscar thought back to what Cesar told him, “But how about you just go tell her who you are before she has to hear it from someone else? Then it won’t be a huge deal or anything.” But he couldn’t do it. He didn’t want to risk you walking away from him after finding out who he is. Especially not after spending hours with you already and beginning to like you.
Oscar cleared his throat and grabbed plates for you both, “You know, some people just panic when they see the tear drop on someone’s face.” He brushed off, motioning to the tattoo on his left cheek. “I’ve gotten used to it. But anyway, tell me about yourself, (y/n).” He encouraged you, beginning to eat.
-
Over the next few days, Oscar came over to help you unpack in the evenings. You both were getting to know more about each other, which led to you starting to like him.
You learned that he has a younger brother, Cesar. And that he practically raised him after his mother passed and dad went to prison. But despite all of that, Oscar seemed to turn out an amazing guy.
He even seemed to start liking you as well. For example, last night you both fell asleep on your couch while talking. He had his arms wrapped around your waist, your head laying against his chest as you both breathed in sync. Occasionally he would wake up and trace his thumb against your arm as you slept quietly.
You were woken up by your alarm, reminding you that it was time to get ready for your first day of work as the Police Chief. “Wait, I never set my alarm last night..” You reminded yourself as you walked to the bathroom to brush your teeth. “Which means that Oscar did it for me.” You smiled more at the realization. It was the tiniest things that were making your crush on him grow.
You quickly got changed into your uniform and headed off to work.
The day flew by pretty quickly. For the most part, many of the officers were respectful and nice. But of course there were a few who gave you dirty looks, which you ignored and kept on with your work.
The day was finally over and you were about to head out. “Chief (y/l/n), I have that background check you asked me to run!” A petite woman said, approaching you with a folder.
You smiled at her, taking the folder, “Thank you, Nancy. I’ll see you tomorrow.” You headed out.
-
You arrived home and sat in your car for a bit. You pulled the folder that Nancy gave you into your lap. You opened up the Background check to reveal information on Oscar “Spooky” Diaz. You felt bad running a background check on him, but you can never be too safe.
You eyes scanned over the words on the papers quickly, but immediately stopped when you read one simple phrase. “Leader of the Santos.” The Santos.. I was informed about that gang before I moved here. That’s one of the most notorious gangs in the area. You froze, rereading that phrase over and over again. Why didn’t he just tell me? What else could he be hiding?
You were snapped out of your thoughts by Oscar knocking on your car window with a smile. He stepped back, waiting for you to get out of the car.
You bit your lip, contemplating getting out of the car and facing him or not. You knew that you had no choice, it was now or later. “Why did you lie?” You questioned, stepping out of the car and slamming the door behind you.
Oscar stepped back a bit, confused about what you were talking about, “What-“
“I know that you’re the leader of the Santos, Oscar. And don’t even try to lie about it, because I did a background check on you and I know everything!” You glared at him, clenching the folder in your hand.
Oscar stood their expressionless for a moment before anger crept to his face, “You ran a background check on me? How could you do that, (y/n)?” He asked slowly.
You stared at him in disbelief, “Don’t you dare try to turn this around on me. It’s my job to do stuff like this! And I always run background checks on people I consider dating. It’s so I can protect myself! You should have just told me the truth, Oscar!” You argued, taking a long deep breath.
The anger on Oscar’s face quickly disappeared. “Did you just say you run background checks on people you consider dating..?” He began to smirk a little, “As in you’re considering dating me, (y/n).” He said with a teasing tone.
You didn’t realize what you had said until he repeated it back to you. You were quickly trying to find the right words to say, “W-well I was considering dating you until you lied to me! So now I’ll have to reconsider.” You huffed, pushing past Oscar and making your way to your front door.
Oscar’s eyes widened and he quickly turned around, grabbing your arm, “(y/n), wait!” He said with a hint of eagerness in his voice, “I know I should have told you.. but I was just scared you wouldn’t give me a chance.” He sighed, sliding his hand down your arm to hold your hand. “If you give me a chance, I promise I won’t keep anything else from you.” He pleaded with his usual gruff voice.
You could tell by the look in his eyes that he meant it. “Okay. You get one chance. But there will be boundaries in this relationship.” He nodded in agreement, continuing to listen to you. “You don’t tell me of anything illegal you’re doing, then I won’t have to arrest you. And you can’t ask me about any police business.” You said, pointing a finger at his chest. “Deal?”
Oscar tugged you closer to him and wrapped his arms around your waist. He placed his lips barely against yours and smirked while whispering, “Deal.” He agreed before kissing you gently.
You wrapped your arms around his neck and smiled into the kiss. You didn’t expect for the relationship to turn out like this, a Police Chief and a gang bang leader, dating. Then again, when does life ever make sense? The one thing you both knew for sure is that you would make the relationship work.

Request for jatana and their first kiss
They were little more than teenagers.
Kitana had come from a day of aggressive training at Shao Kahn’s bidding. Bruised, cut, exhaustion obviously pulling at every limb. And the second they were out of earshot, the tears had come and Jade had gently guided her friend away from the populated walkways through the palace to let Kitana weep in peace. If there was one thing that she had learned since she was was brought on to guard Kitana’s life… it was healthier to let someone cry then encourage them to bottle everything up.
“Thank you…” Kitana said when they arrived at her room, sniffling and her eyes red and the few stray tears still running down her cheeks, but she had gotten the worst off her chest.
“You don’t need to thank me,” Jade soothed.
After her training were her studies. Shao Kahn insisted that Kitana know all these things about warlords and such, probably trying to make her think like him. But it only served to teach Kitana what NOT to do as a ruler. Even in the face of Shao Kahn’s constant pressure for her to become cruel and mean and vicious, Kitana refused and Jade found admiration in that.
“We were learning about Onaga last,” Jade said when Kitana used her washroom to clean up and change into comfortable clothing. “What part of the oh great and mighty dragon king’s reign were we on?”
“I think his first alliance with father?” Kitana called.
When Kitana came out, cleaned up and obviously greatly calmed, they sat together and read from the tome to learn about the mighty overgrown lizard that was Onaga. They both agreed that his alliance with Shao Kahn was probably due in part that they were both of the same, slimy and horrid personality.
“Why do the texts always read the same?” Kitana muttered when they took a break. “Like they would lick the ground that they walked upon just to touch them?”
“I do not know. Some people will do anything to avoid a tyrant’s ire. But some will worship because they admire that kind of vile personality and attitude,” Jade muttered, making sure to keep her voice low. Kitana still nodded grimly.
“Father knows no kindness, no tenderness. I do not know how anyone would find that appealing,” She sighed.
Carefully, Jade reached over to brush some loose hair behind Kitana’s ear.
“Not like you, princess Kitana.”
“Or you, dearest Jade,” Kitana smiled sweetly.
They were silent for a moment. Jade’s fingers lingered on the side of Kitana’s face, loathe to pull away. Kitana looked over at her. And she looked at her. And then they leaned forward and--
It was just a little peck, just the smallest brush of lips. But it made them both pull back quickly to burn red to their foreheads and giggle quietly. They shuffled closer and reluctantly took up that book, unable to fight the red in their cheeks or the sudden giddiness.

J...jatana (also hey howdy hey hope your havin a good day!)
i wrote nearly all of it and exited it so im upset but im having a good day, thank you anon :))
1) who can outdrink the other? Jade. Kitana drinks so rarely that her body cannot handle it whatsoever jnsjsjgh
2) who says “I love you” more? Kitana. any moment, she will say it to Jade so she understands just how important she is to her. returning from a mission? training together? eating dinner? it doesn’t matter. Kitana will say it every day
3) who has trouble sleeping alone? Kitana. she much prefers to have Jade there as an assurance that she’s safe from whatever can happen in the night
4) who swears more? Jade. they rarely curse but Jade is more likely to say the mild curse words (”damn”, “hell”, etc.) but she will hardly ever say “fuck”
5) who does more of the housework? they share the housework, but Jade sometimes tries to get Kitana to relax by taking on more of the chores. they both refuse to let servants keep their living space clean when they can do it themselves
6) who forgets their anniversary? Kitana. she’s the worst with dates and will suddenly realize that it’s their anniversary when the day is nearly over. she always feels really bad and tries her best to make it up to Jade, though she understands that Kitana is busy and is never upset if it slips her mind
7) who steals the duvet in their sleep? Kitana. she is more likely to get cold in the night, so Jade usually just passes it over
8) who keeps the other awake at night with their snoring? neither of them snores, but Jade moves around more often in her sleep and will accidentally keep Kitana awake
9) who finds stray animals and begs the other to let them keep them? they both have a soft spot for animals, so it’s more along the lines of both of them falling in love with an animal and wanting to keep them
10) who usually makes dinner? Jade. Kitana isn’t the greatest cook, but she is always willing to assist Jade as needed
11) who plays their music out loud? Jade. she likes to play her music in front of Kitana and see if their tastes are similar in any way
12) who hogs the bathroom? they both hog it because they go in there together and help the other with their makeup and hair
13) who gives the most compliments? they both compliment the other frequently, but Jade very often uses compliments to get Kitana out of a slump
14) i am not answering this one and can’t rephrase it in a way that i like jsgnjdkg
15) who isn’t afraid to embarrass the other in public? Jade. they both can handle attention very well, but sometimes Jade does something that is embarrassing (being loud in a quiet place, running up the street and getting stares, etc.) that leaves Kitana covering her face
16) who gives the other cringeworthy pet names? Jade. they’re never serious, but she loves seeing Kitana’s face when she calls her “sugar love bear” or “honey love” or something silly like that
17) who fusses over takes care of the other when they get sick? they both care for the other, but Jade is more likely to get along the lines of fussy. Kitana is bad to want to get out of bed and continue doing her Kahn duties even with a fever, and Jade is the one to make sure that she gets the rest that she needs
18) who finds it impossible to stay angry at the other for long? Kitana. it’s rare that she’s angry at her for longer than, like, two minutes, but she knows that Jade always acts in their best interest, so it doesn’t take her long to not stay mad
19) who clings to the other for comfort when they’re sad or scared? Kitana. she’ll silently approach Jade and hide her face in her shoulder when she’s overwhelmed, sad, scared, etc. and Jade just hugs her close and comforts her to the best of her abilities
20) who is more ‘physically passionate’? (hugs, kisses, or maybe more…) both of them are suckers for physical affection, but both of them prefer to keep it reserved for private moments

Speaking her language
For the charming @empress-writes 💙💛🧡💖
Hope you’ll like the story!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The South of France is a safer place for the Basterds, as they took a break after their last mission.
They were currently hidden in a remote cottage near the small village of Gassin. Its inhabitants were kind and helpful, which was a blessing for Aldo Raine and his men.
"No news from the superiors, Lieutenant?"
"Na yet, Donny. But ya can be sure that we're gonna heard about them, one way or another!"
"So, let's enjoy our free time!" happily exclaimed Hirschberg as he ate a piece of cake.
"Can you sometimes stop eating, you glutton?" admonished Andy.
"But Mrs. Dupin's pies are so delicious!"
As the others were gently chatting, Wicki was gazing at (Y/N) (L/N), the only woman in the group. He could not help but smile while looking at her as she read a book.
If you ask him, he would probably answer that everything she did was perfection. To sum up, he fell heels over head in love with the woman.
Of course, the other Basterds were aware of it and never missed an opportunity to tease him about his crush. Even Hugo loved taunting him!
Wilhelm's daydreaming was interrupted by Utivitch, who shyly asked:
"Hey, (Y/N)?"
"Yes, Smithson?" answered the woman with a gentle smile.
"What are you reading?"
"Oh, I was reading Les lettres de mon moulin by Alphonse Daudet. It is a French collection of short stories about Provence!"
"Okay... Wait, you understand French?"
She laughed.
"Uti, can you remind us what is my job here?"
"She is the translator, you dummy!" growled Hugo.
"Don't be so harsh, Stiglitz!" scolded Hicox.
"Indeed, I am the translator of the group."
"Of course!"
"By the way, how many languages do you speak?" inquired Omar.
A sly grin appeared on her face.
"What if we played a little game?"
"YES! A GAME!" happily screamed Andy, Michael, and Simon.
"Ouch! My ears!" grumbled Wicki.
"Okay, let's play! What are the rules, doll?" asked Donny.
"It's simple: I'll talk in a language to each of you in turn, and you have to guess how many languages I can speak!"
"Sounds good to me! Start whenever ya want, pretty!"
Suddenly, all the Basterds were quiet and waited for (Y/N).
While she was mentally choosing the first player, the other Basterds noticed the enamored gaze of Wicki towards the blonde woman. Time to play some trick on the suitor...
"I'm going to start with... Mr. Hicox!"
"I'm always ready, my dear!"
"Eres muy guapo. ¡Un verdadero caballero!" (You're very handsome. A real gentleman!)"
"Mmmmh... I would say that you speak Spanish!"
"Exactly!"
"And what did you say?"
"I told you that you were handsome, and you look like a real gentleman!"
The Basterds laughed and whistled.
"Well, milady, you're absolutely astonishing! Hearing you speaking Spanish is like listening to a nightingale!" answered the British spy with a seductive wink.
The young woman chuckled before asking:
"You sweet-talker! Alright! Who's next?"
"Why won't you ask Omar?" snickered Michael.
"Go to hell!" grunted the latter.
"Don't worry, Omar: it's only for fun. Are you ready?"
A charming smile came across Omar's face:
"Please, go ahead!"
"Okay... Nǐ hěn yǒnggǎn, wǒ hěn gāoxìng chéngwéi nǐ de péngyǒu!" (You're brave, and I'm happy to be your friend!)
Omar was puzzled.
"It does not sound like a European language..."
"You're right, it's not from Europe..."
"Mh, that's tricky... I don't know!"
"Give it a try!" she gently encouraged him.
The soldier scratched the back of his head:
"Er... Is it Japanese?"
"Sorry, but no. It was Chinese!"
"CHINESE? REALLY?" yelled Omar under the laughs of his comrades.
"Yes, indeed. I learned it when I was younger, thanks to my nanny who came from Shangai! And if you want a translation, it means that you're brave and I am happy to be your friend!"
"Alright... Well, thank you! It was beautiful! Especially when it comes from you!"
"You charmer!"
Wicki raised an eyebrow: he started to guess what his friends were doing, and he was not pleased...
"Fine, let's go back to the game, would you? The next one will be... Donny!"
"At your orders, baby doll!"
"Then, I start... Sei forte e affascinante! E amo il tuo sorriso!" (You're strong and charming! And I love your smile!)
"Ah, so easy! Italian!"
"Bravo! You're right!"
"And what did you mean?"
"I said Donny is strong and charming... and I love his smile!"
Donny put his large hands on his chest, faking to be enthralled.
"And she speaks Italian! Gosh, this woman is perfect!"
He blew her a kiss.
"Please, receive this proof of love from a Bostonian guy!"
Laughing at his antics, (Y/N) mimicked catching the kiss and holding it against her heart.
"Thank you, Donny!"
As for Wilhelm, he gets annoyed. He did not know if they were trying to woo her for real or if they were just pissing him off. In both cases, he hated them at the moment.
"Okay. For the next turn, I'll ask for... Lieutenant Raine!"
"Here I am, pretty woman!"
"Fine, let's go... 'ant qayid rayie qawiun washajae wajadhab jadana!" (You are an astounding leader. Sturdy, brave, and so attractive!)
"Uh, that's a tricky one! Sounds like the Cree language..."
"Unfortunately, Lieutenant, I don't speak Native American languages."
"Okay... So, is it Danish?"
"No."
"Hm... Perhaps Portuguese?"
"Wrong answer. It was Arabic!"
"WOAH!" exclaimed all the Basterds, impressed.
"God, you awe me! And what did you mean?"
"I was saying that you are an astounding leader and that you are sturdy, brave, and attractive!"
Aldo smirked and gave her his best seductive face.
"Girl, give me back my heart, would ya? You stole it since the first day!"
(Y/N) heartily laughed.
"Please, Lieutenant: you're a charmer!"
"Only for you, sweetheart!"
"Verräter!" (Betrayer!) gritted Wicki.
"Fine, let's go! I choose... Andy!"
"At your service, milady!"
"Okay, I start... Du är söt när du ler." (You're cute when you smile)
"Uh... Does this language exist?"
"Of course!"
"Okay, Kagan: use your brains... Ah, I know: Danish!"
"Almost..."
"Swedish?"
"Good answer!"
"Well done, Kagan!" laughed Archie.
"Thanks, sir... But I'm sure that if (Y/N) goes to Sweden, they would hate her!"
"Why?"
"Look at her smile: it's like the sun, the snow would melt in a blink!"
"Oh My God, Kagan! That was the corniest thing I've ever heard!" roared Michael as he clutched his sides.
"Well, I find it cute. Thank you, Andy!"
"You're welcome... By the way, what did you mean?"
"Oh, I said that you're cute when you smile!"
Kagan fiercely blushed.
"Thank you, Miss..."
"Pleasure is mine... Hey, Michael, do you want to try?"
"I never say no to a challenge, especially from a beautiful lady!"
"Let's see... Vy geniy i prekrasnyy chelovek." (You are a genius and a lovely man).
"Woah, Woah, Woah! What the hell is that language?"
"I assure you, this is a real language!"
"Uh... German?"
"NO!" answered Wicki and Stiglitz, offended.
"Calm down, guys! Okay, so if it's not German... It's Russian!"
"Bravo!" (Y/N) clapped happily.
"Wait a minute... If I did not miss the track, we know that you speak 6 languages! And I don't know why, but I think you know more!" said Utivitch.
"That's right! Okay, now, who wants to try?"
"I volunteer!" exclaimed Smithson.
"With pleasure! Let's see which language I use with you..." she wondered.
She got an idea and started to speak in a foreign language:
"Anata wa watashi ga imamade deatta naka de mottomo omoshirokute shinsetsuna hitodesu!" (You're the funniest and kindest man I ever met!)
"Ah, I got it! If it's not Chinese... It's Japanese!"
"Splendid!"
"Well done, chap!" laughed Simon as he applauded.
"Thanks, pal. And may I know the meaning of your sentence?"
"Of course! I said that you are the funniest and kindest man I ever met!"
"And they dare to say perfection does not exist! Obviously, they did not meet our lovely (Y/N)!" shouted Utivitch.
"Please, don't exaggerate!" blushed the young woman.
Wicki clenched his fists so tightly that his knuckles went white. He swore to God that they would pay for their antics.
"Okay, the next player would be... Simon!"
"Yes, ma'am! Always yours!"
"You trickster! Fine, try to guess this one... אני מאוד מעריך את החברה שלך." (I really appreciate your company)
"No... You speak Hebrew? The language of our people?"
"Indeed."
"But it sounds beautiful when it comes from you! Okay, you know what? After the war, I'll marry you!"
"Oh, Simon! Don't be so crazy!" she laughed.
"I'm already crazy in love with you!"
"And you say I am corny, Michael..." sneered Andy.
"Forget what I said!"
After she stopped laughing, (Y/N) declared:
"So, I think we had three players last. Well, let's the game begin with Hirschberg."
"Hooray! Here I am!"
"Alright! So, try to find this one... Jesteś uroczym żarłokiem." (You're an adorable glutton)
"Well, that's unusual! Er... I don't remember hearing this language before!"
"Give me suggestions!"
"It is a Slavic language?"
"Not at all."
Gerold sighed.
"Damn it, girl! It's a freakin' riddle!"
"Watch your language in front of a lady!" scolded Hicox.
"Don't worry, Archie: I've heard worse before!" said (Y/N) with a smug grin.
"Mh, I don't know... Is it Turkish?"
"Not at all, but I am currently studying this language!"
"Er... Nope, I don't know!"
"It's Polish!"
"My my, she is impressive!" chuckled Aldo as he took a bite of his bread.
"And what did you say?"
"I said that you are an adorable glutton!"
Hearing that, the other Basterds roared with laughter.
"AH AH AH AH! Well done, (Y/N)!" shrieked Utivitch.
"Hey, that's not fair!" yelped Hirschberg.
Upset that she would offend her friend, the woman apologized.
"I'm sorry if I hurt you, Gerold. I did not mean to..."
"It's alright, (Y/N). Likewise, I'll always forgive you!"
"Oh, why?"
"Because you are beautiful!" answered the soldier with a huge smile.
Relieved, she happily laughed while Wicki contained himself to punch someone's face.
"Okay, now, let's go on with Hugo!"
"I'm listening..."
"I'm sure you'll recognize this language... Du erinnerst mich an einen Wolf: einsam, mysteriös und faszinierend." (You remind me of a wolf: solitary, mysterious, and fascinating.)
"German, without hesitation!" smirked Stiglitz.
"Indeed!"
"And what did she say?" asked Donny.
Hugo stood up and walked towards her.
"She compared me to wolf. She said that I am solitary, mysterious, and fascinating..."
"(Y/N) got the point!" smiled Michael.
Stiglitz arrived near the woman and kneeled with deference.
"You won... I surrender to your beautiful voice! I could not resist you speaking my mother tongue with such delicacy!"
"Nice touch, Stiglitz!" exclaimed Archie.
"Oh, Hugo! You must be exaggerating: I'm pretty sure my accent was a disaster!"
"The only thing pretty is you, (Y/N)" grinned Hugo as he gently kissed the woman's hand... while he looked out of the corner of his eyes at Wilhelm with a roguish glance.
"Trottel!" (You jerk)!" gritted the latter through his teeth.
At the same moment, (Y/N) was amused by her friends' antics: they always treated her like a queen and were very respectful towards her. But this time, she felt that there was something else, like if they were playing a prank on someone...
"You guys are all amazing! But let's finish this game with the last player: Wilhelm!"
Hearing his name, Wicki snapped out of his anger and said:
"Yes, I'm ready!"
"Okay so, let's see if you will be able to find this one... Mon cher Wilhelm, tu es un homme courageux, loyal, et séduisant." (My dear Wilhelm, you are a courageous, loyal, and attractive man.)
The Austrian Jewish man smirked:
"Without any doubt, I would say... French!"
"Precisely! You had a good ear!"
"And what did you say to Wilhelm? I'm curious..." asked Hirschberg with a playful tone.
(Y/N) slightly flushed before answering:
"I told him that he was a brave, loyal, and attractive man!"
"How cute!" laughed Aldo.
As for Wilhelm, he was struck: definitely, he was in love! With a smug smile, he said:
"Merci beaucoup pour le compliment, jolie mademoiselle!" (Thank you very much for the compliment, lovely miss!)
(Y/N) was impressed by his hidden talent.
"Oh, what a surprise! I did not know you speak French!"
"I know a few... but I'm sure I would not reach your level!"
"Don't underestimate yourself!"
"Heck, she could give some “private” lessons, if you want!" smirked Andy while wiggling his eyebrows.
"Keep your dirty thoughts for you!" snarled Wicki.
"Okay guys, calm down! Now that everyone answered (Y/N), did anyone count how many languages she can speak?" asked Archie.
"I did sir! And she speaks in 11 languages!" replied Utivitch.
"11 LANGUAGES?" shouted the others.
"Indeed, you counted well, Smithson. But I also speak Portuguese, Dutch, and Slavic languages. And I'm currently learning Turkish, Hindi, Danish, Korean, and Finnish!"
"Girl, are ya planning to learn all the goddamn languages around the world?" asked Aldo, flabbergasted.
"Maybe... Seriously, I've always been interested in languages since I was a little girl and I never stopped my passion! Luckily for me, I was gifted with a good memory..."
"We noticed it." shrugged Hugo.
"Man, we're lucky to have her with us!" stated Hirschberg.
"Well spotted, private!"
They enjoyed the afternoon, when (Y/N) had to go to the village for some groceries.
Once she left, Wicki turned his angered glare towards his comrades.
"May I know WHAT THE FUCK were you all doing earlier? Wooing her as if you did not know what I felt?"
"Don't be mad, Wicki: we just wanted to make a joke!" said Utivitch who tried to calm his friend.
"I did not find it very funny!" growled the Austrian.
"Don't be so ill-humored! We'll never steal her from you. Of course, we all love her, but she is like a sister or a best friend to many of us!" retorted Kagan.
"Damn right, Kagan. But Wil, ya better tell (Y/N) what ya feel for her! Stop tripping and man up!" ordered Aldo.
"And how I'm supposed to do that?"
"Use your brains, Wicki, and take a guess: why don't you use something she likes to declare your love?" muttered Hugo as he smoked his cigarette.
"Something she likes..." mumbled Wilhelm as he lost himself in his thoughts.
Suddenly, an idea popped up in his mind, and he slightly grinned: maybe he can try something interesting.
He got up and searched in his bag a book his mother gave him before his departure. Wilhelm felt that the answer to his issue was between the pages of this poetry collection...
Tumblr media
Later in the evening...
The cool summer night was calm and appeasing for the Basterds as they were finishing the meals brought by their French accomplices.
At the same time, (Y/N) went for a small walk through the forest. She enjoyed the peaceful surrounding of the woods and sat on a tree stump to gaze at the shining stars who enlightened the dark blue sky.
The young woman slightly shivered as she felt the gentle breeze caress her bare arms.
"Can I join you?" asked a familiar masculine voice.
Startled, she turned and was relieved to see Wilhelm.
"Oh, it's you! You scare me!"
"I'm sorry!"
"It's fine... You can sit with me!"
Thanking her, the soldier sat close to the young woman.
He felt a knot in his stomach as he was nervous: God, this girl would be the death of him!
He straightened up himself and declared:
"It's a nice night!"
"Indeed: I've always appreciated summer nights. I don't why, but it always soothes me... And it reminds me of this beautiful painting entitled Starry Night."
"Made by Van Gogh in 1888, if I'm right?"
"Exactly. It was a representation of a starry sky in Provence... where we are!"
"Interesting, I did not know this part of the story..." smiled Wicki.
He leaned closer and said:
"You know, this landscape reminds me of a poem..."
"Really?"
"Would you like to listen?"
"I would enjoy it!" (Y/N) smiled.
Wilhelm cleared his throat and declaimed:
Es liegt der heiße Sommer (There lies the heat of summer)
Auf deinen Wängelein; (On your cheek’s lovely art:)
Es liegt der Winter, der kalte, (There lies the cold of winter)
In deinem Herzchen klein. (Within your little heart.)
Das wird sich bei dir ändern, (That will change, beloved,)
Du Vielgeliebte mein! (The end not as the start!)
Der Winter wird auf den Wangen, (Winter on your cheek then,)
Der Sommer im Herzen sein. (Summer in your heart.)
When he finished reciting the poem, he saw a beautiful smile across (Y/N)'s face.
"Wilhelm, it was amazing!"
"Danke. Maybe you know the author..."
"I think it's Heinrich Heine!"
"Exactly! It’s the poem titled There lies the heat of summer."
"He wrote such beautiful masterpieces about love."
She shrugged with a sly smile.
"I'm a helpless romantic!"
"Don't apologize: it's one of your qualities!"
He added with a slight blush on his face.
"Besides, this poem has a special meaning for me..."
"Honestly? Why?"
"Yes. Well, when I was younger, I told my mother that I would say this poem to the girl I want to spend my life with..."
"Oh, that's so charming..."
(Y/N) interrupted herself when she realized what happened.
"Wait a minute... Did you mean that..."
Wicki nodded.
"You've guessed right: I love you, (Y/N). Since the first day in our team, I knew you were meant to me. But I was a coward for a long time and I did not know how to tell you the truth... until tonight!"
There was a silence until the young woman let out a relieved sigh:
"Thank God, what a relief!"
"What do you mean?"
She fidgeted with her fingers, slightly embarrassed.
"You know, Wilhelm... You were not the only one who was shy about their feelings!"
"You mean... that it's reciprocated?"
She agreed with a slight nod and a timid smile.
Assuaged by this revelation, Wicki leaned closer to her face, letting a few inches between their lips.
"Ich liebe dich, (Y/N)..."
"I love you too, Wilhelm..."
And they gently kissed, their lips sealed in a tender moment...
Meantime, the other Basterds were spying on them, delighted smiles on their faces.
"Finally! He said it!" smirked Aldo.
"Look how cute they are!" grinned Utivitch.
"Indeed, they are. But remember guys: if you want to stay alive, don't cha flirt with her!" stated Donny.
"We took note, Don'. Should we celebrate this new couple?" asked Hirschberg.
"We'll do it when they'll come back to the camp. For now, let's them enjoy this moment alone!" tenderly smiled Andy.
"Gentlemen, we shall come back before they notice our presence. Moreover, we have a celebration to prepare!" simpered Hicox.
"The British's damn right! Let's go, boys!" discreetly cheered Michael.
"I'm so excited! It's like another Valentine's Day!" laughed Simon.
As they went back, Hugo looked back at the lovers with a small grin on his face.
"Well played, Wicki. You managed to speak her language, after all..."
Well, he was right: Wilhelm and (Y/N) found the perfect language between each other: the language of love...
Thank you for the reading!
I hope you’ll like it and I’m looking for your requests!
Take care and see you soon! 😘🥰😍🤩😷

SNELLVILLE, GEORGIA – Hundreds of voters in Gwinnett County, Georgia, a Democratic stronghold of predominantly minority voters, waited more than four hours to vote Tuesday because of malfunctioning electronic voting machines.
At Annistown Elementary School, a precinct serving a heavily African-American community in the town of Snellville, Jadana Donely said she arrived around 7:30 a.m., shortly after polls opened, but didn’t cast a ballot until close to noon. Donely said there was a lot of confusion when she got to the polling location about the reason for the long line.
“As soon as we walked through the door, it was just information that the machines were down,” the 45-year-old black voter said. “They didn’t go into specifics. And then maybe about 20 minutes in, then they said ‘Oh, the machine is not working’ … Then another 20 minutes after that, it was, ‘The cards are not working.’ And then it was, ‘OK, they have machines on the way.’ And then the machine that got here wasn’t working.”
The problems were resolved by around 11:30 a.m., but long lines lingered well after.
While Donely waited more than four hours to vote, her husband had to leave the line to go to work. He plans to return at the end of the day, but voting advocates expressed concerns that voters who left would not return later Tuesday.
Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), a Democratic lawmaker who represents the district that includes Snellville, told ThinkProgress he blames Republican Secretary of State Brian Kemp for the issues.
“This was definitely foreseeable,” he said. “It’s part of the last gasp attempts by Republicans to maintain their positions of privilege.”
Johnson said it’s not surprising that Kemp and his allies would make it more difficult for voters in Gwinnett County, a majority minority county, to cast ballots.
“This election is crucial,” he added. “We need every vote.”
Johnson and other local Democratic leaders held a press conference outside the polling location Tuesday afternoon, urging voters to do whatever it takes to cast their ballots.
When Jaime Winfree, a white resident of Snellville, heard about wait times of more than four hours, she brought her husband and two young daughters to the polling place to distribute cookies and water to people waiting in line.
“This is not an accident,” she told ThinkProgress. “I know of at least four majority-black polling places in Snellville that had machines that didn’t work for hours, and people left.”
Johnson said he also heard of similar issues at no fewer than four polling locations in Snellville. The same ballot machine issue that plagued Annistown Elementary also occurred at Anderson-Livsey Elementary School and Suwanee Library, both in Gwinnett County, county spokesperson Joe Sorenson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“Across the fourth district we see … many voting precincts are having problems enabling the citizens to vote,” Johnson said. “We knew for the last three weeks that turnout was going to be heavy. And so, it’s important that the citizens not let these glitches defeat them.”
Georgia voters warn midterm election security is in danger
Kemp has repeatedly refused to add a back-up trail to Georgia’s voting system. Georgia is one of just five states that is not using paper ballots in the midterm elections. Voting advocates filed suit against his office, but a judge ruled in September that there was not enough time to change the process before the November vote.
In her ruling, however, the judge said the security concerns are legitimate and warned that “further delay is not tolerable” in “confronting and tackling the challenges before the state’s election balloting system.”
Johnson said he faults Kemp for the issues in Snellville, because of his refusal to “address the archaic nature” of Georgia’s voting system.
“The operation of these voting machines and the technology that supports it is his bailiwick,” he said.
“He has had adequate time to address the archaic nature of this process, and he’s failed to do so. He certainly doesn’t need to be the next governor.”

The Jadana ship is absolutely gay as hell and they're at least a little in love with each other in some way. I maintain that they're soulmates. These women seem destined to find each other,no matter the timeline. Plus, like you said, they've been together for damn near millennia. Some sort of mutual physical experimentation/ exploration had to have gone down at some point between them.
(Like, deadass, you can't convince me that 10,000 years passed without at least one of the girlies getting curious. Kissing, at a minimum happened.)
I like the ship name. And, like I said--since the Kitana in the new timeline definitely ain't getting with Liu Kang, I don't see why not.
OG timeline, stuff probably happened. Sorry, 10000 years is a real long time for "nothing" to happen. I don't buy it.
On a more serious note, I am curious why all the other characters are implying that Jade WASN'T there with Kitana the whole time, that they just recently met. Too bad no Jade lore in the leaks, sadge.

Jadana still lives. In one of her and Kitana`s intro dialogues, Jade flat out says she`ll do anything she asks. She doesn`t say "within reason". She just says, "Anything,Kitana." Kitana mentions in another that Jade`s choice is clear when it comes to repping her or Kotal. Sounds like Kitana`s not having it with Kotal.
i wish this could mean it still lives, but they aggressively and maliciously killed the ship in some of those intros, you probably know the ones. so fuck them (the writers, that is).

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT: Holland Taylor

The New Yorker has called Holland Taylor “the first vaudeville Gentile we ever saw.” Her New York stage performances include Bess in Breakfast with Les and Bess, as well as the original productions of Butley, opposite Alan Bates, and A.R. Gurney’s The Cocktail Hour. She still holds her head high after taking over for Eve Arden, opening the historic flop Moose Murders. In Los Angeles she has performed in Kindertransport, and played opposite Christopher Lloyd in Yasmina Reza’s The Unexpected Man at the Geffen. She has worked extensively in film and television, appearing in Romancing the Stone, Jewel of the Nile, To Die For, Next Stop Wonderland, One Fine Day, George of the Jungle, The Truman Show, Happy Accidents, Spy Kids (2 & 3), Keeping the Faith, Legally Blonde, and Baby Mama, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. On television, Holland has been nominated for an Emmy seven times, winning Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for the sexually popular Judge Roberta Kittleson on The Practice. Among her numerous series starring roles: The Powers that Be, Norman Lear’s short-lived but highly acclaimed political satire; Bosom Buddies, with Tom Hanks; and, of course, the juggernaut, Two and a Half Men, with her dear boys: Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and number 3 son, Ashton Kutcher. She has performed narrations for the Los Angeles Philharmonic with Esa-Pekka Salonen and John Adams, and narrated the Harry Potter Suite for John Williams at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. “Sunflower.” Ruby x Reader OnMyBlock
Tumblr media
Based on: “Hello, I would like to a request a Ruby x Reader fanfic where y/n just moved to Freeridge and is feeling homesick.”
Author: Alana
You woke up not feeling the best. Your mind replaying memories of your friends back home.
Your mother kept telling you that with time, you would feel better about living in Freeridge. Yet, you’ve been feeling worst the longer you’ve been there.
You have to get over it, (y/n). You reminded yourself, sliding out of bed to get your day started.
You were hoping you would feel better as the day went on, but that didn’t happen. You tried distracting yourself in different ways, but found yourself getting more upset.
There was only one person you wanted to talk to about what you were feeling. Ruby. Throughout the past few weeks, he had done his best to invite you to hang out with his friends, even when you repeatedly declined.
He would even stop by your house to check on you, often bringing you food. That led to you bonding with him, more than you realized. Because you would then invite him in to share with you.
This time together allowed you both to get to know each other better. Though you didn’t realize it, Ruby was becoming your first friend in Freeridge.
You anxiously walked down to his house. Gingerly knocking on the front door quickly. Please be here, Ruby.
The second Ruby opened the door, you pushed past him and made your way to his couch. You sat down, fidgeting with your hands.
Ruby closed the front door, watching you worried. “(y/n), what’s wrong?” He asked, sitting next to you on the couch.
You sat there trying to get your thoughts together. The more you tried to find the right words, the more tears welled up in your eyes.
You looked down at your hands, letting the tears stream down your face. “I just miss home. I miss my friends. I miss everything that was familiar to me, but now that’s all gone.” You let out a quiet sob, placing your hands over your eyes and wresting your elbows on your knees.
Ruby watched you helplessly and placed his hand on your lower back.
“I just feel alone now..” You whispered out, dropping your hands and looking over at Ruby, who was now rubbing your back.
He let out a quiet sigh and turned his body towards you on the couch. “But you’re not alone, (y/n). You have so many people here who want to be your friend. You just have to let them in..” he smiled softly at you.
You looked back down at your hands, taking in Ruby’s words. He was right, you have to let others in. That was your worst habit, you were never one to open up a lot. You only trusted very few people.
Ruby gently pulled you into his arms and looked down at you, your head now laying on his chest, “Okay, how about this, tell me some things that you miss about home?” He encouraged, laying his head on yours.
You wiped your face and took in a deep breath. You noticed the cologne Ruby was wearing and it had a soothing affect on you.
“Um..” You started, clearing your throat, “I miss the large open fields we had back home. Everything here is so cramped and bustling constantly.” You looked up at Ruby and smiled softly, “My friends and I use to visit this sunflower field all the time. It always reminded us to stay together because Sunflowers represent loyalty..” you found yourself smiling more at remembering all the time you spent at those fields. “We would spend all day making food so that we could go have a picnic under the stars.. it was so beautiful..” you whispered the last part, mostly to yourself.
Ruby watched you amazed, not used to you talking this much about anything, especially at once. It was really nice seeing you smile like this. He suddenly got an idea.
“Hey, (y/n), how about we meet tonight for dinner? I know it’s last minute, but I promise you that you’ll have fun. I just want to help distract you; show you that you aren’t alone here.” He smiled huge, his brown doe eyes sparkling with excitement.
You blushed a little and nodded, “Okay, why not, Ruby.. and thank you for being here..” you spoke softly, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and hugging him.
Ruby hugged back, smiling to himself, “You’re welcome, (y/n). Now go home and relax until I come get you for dinner.” He ordered jokingly, pulling away from the hug.
You let a soft giggle escape your lips, “I didn’t realize you were this bossy, Ruby Martinez.” You playfully rolled your eyes, heading towards the door. “I’ll see you tonight.” You gave a small wave, exiting the house.
-
As soon as you left the house, Ruby ran to the garage, in search of his abuela.
“Abuelita, I really need your help right now.” He began coughing and swatting away the smoke that was filling the garage.
Abuelita’s eye widened and she quickly put down her bong. “Aye, qué pasa? What do you want? I’m busy.”
Ruby ignored the fact that she was smoking her bong in the garage again, “I need your help. I want to do something nice for (y/n), but I need you to drive me around to some flower shops.” He pleaded, biting his lip nervously.
Abuelita groaned softly, “I don’t know, Ruby-“
“I won’t tell mom and dad that you never threw out your bong.” He bargained, narrowing his eyes at her a bit.
Abuelita glared at Ruby a bit, “Fine. Go get my keys, estúpido.” She said, tucking her bong back into her hiding spot.
-
“By the way, I also need some money...” Ruby added on once they pulled up to a floral shop.
Abuelita let out a loud sigh and grabbed her purse, “Why can’t you be more like Jamal?” She grumbled, handing Ruby cash.
Ruby let out a soft laugh and got out of the car eagerly. He walked into the floral shop and straight to the florist behind the cash register, “Do you have any sunflowers? Like a lot of sunflowers?”
The older woman gave Ruby a sweet smile, “Of course I do, sugar. But sunflowers are not cheap.. they’re about $2.40 per flower.”
Looking down at the money he had in his hands, he thought for a moment. Yeah, this was about to be crazy expensive, but if it made you feel less home sick then he would do whatever it took.
“I’m doing this for a friend who’s missing her home. She’s worth the cost.” He smiled at the florist.
The florist smirked a little and walked around the counter, “Follow me.” She ordered, walking towards the back of the shop. “So do you like this friend more than a friend?” She questioned, picking out Sunflower bouquets.
The question caught Ruby off guard, causing him to blush and to stutter through his response. “W-why would you ask that? What makes you think I l-like her?” He asked back, scratching the back of his neck in embarrassment.
“Well for starters, not a lot of young men come in here to buy flowers. Especially not to help a girl feel better who is homesick.” She reasoned, walking back to the counter to place the flowers at the register.
Ruby grabbed a few more bouquets and followed the florist back to the cash register, “Well that doesn’t mean that I like her.” He scoffed quietly, the blush still evident on his tan cheeks. “I mean, sure she’s beautiful, and so funny when you can get her to talk to you. And she does this little lip bite thing when she thinks of a funny joke. You can always tell when she’s about to tell you a joke.” Ruby chuckled softly to himself, thinking about you.
The florist watched Ruby with adoration, “You’ve got it bad, sweet pea..” She paused for a moment, watching Ruby. “Listen, since you clearly have a thing for this girl and you’re a sweet kid, I’ll give you half off on all the flowers. I hope you can make this girl’s year.” She smiled more at Ruby, beginning to ring up his flowers.
“I’ll help you take these out to the car.” She offered, taking the cash Ruby held out to her.
“I really appreciate all of your help, ma’am.” He said, giving her his charming smile and gathering as many bouquets as his arms could hold.
The florist gathered the rest of the flowers and followed Ruby out to the car, “It’s no problem, sugar, really. And a bit of advice,” she started, setting the bouquets in the back seat, “once you get the girl, never stop trying to make her feel at home here.” She said, closing the back door as Ruby got into the front seat, holding the bouquets in his lap.
“Good luck, kid.” She winked, closing the passenger door for him.
Ruby pondered over what she had just said as Abuelita pulled out of the parking spot, “Are we done? Can we go home now? I’m missing my show, Ruby.” Abuelita huffed out.
“Yes, Abuelita. We can go home now, but I need one more favor.” He looked over at his grandmother.
Abuelita groaned softly, “I’m beginning to like Jamal more and more.” she raised an eyebrow over at Ruby, “What do you need?”
“I need you to help me make some food.. you’re the best cook I know, Abuelita.” Ruby flattered her, batting his eyelashes.
-
You opened the front door and watched Ruby confused, “Do you have to pee or something..? Why are you bouncing like that?” You questioned.
“It’s called excitement, (y/n). Now come on!” He grabbed your hand, pulling you outside of the house.
You quickly pulled your front door closed and walked along Ruby’s side. “I’ve never seen you this excited before? It’s only dinner, Ruby.” You reminded him, not realizing that you both were now holding hands.
Ruby smiled more to himself. He knew that this was going to be more than dinner. He knew that this could possibly change the way that you view Freeridge and even making new friends.
All he had to do was not ruin the surprise as you both walked to the football field.
“I know, but I’m starving. So I’m excited to eat.” He smiled over at you, barely swinging your hands back and forth.
You looked around at your surroundings, confused as to where you guys were going to eat.
“Speaking of eating... where are we eating?” You questioned as you both approached the football field.
“Here.” Ruby said, dropping your hand and motioning to the scene in front of you.
Your jaw dropped at the sight in front of you.
There, in the middle of the field, a large picnic blanket laid, sunflowers placed strategically over it. On top of the blanket was a picnic basket that had sunflowers woven into it. And as you looked across the field, even more sunflowers could be seen spread amongst the horizon.
You stared at the sight in front of you in awe. Your eyes instantly being drawn to the beautiful yellow flowers. “Sunflowers..” you breathed out, a huge smile making its way to your lips. You looked over at Ruby, “What is this..?” You asked, making your way over the picnic blanket.
Ruby reached into the basket and pulled out a bouquet of sunflowers. “My failed replication of your sunflower field back home.” He chuckled softly, placing the flowers into your arms.
“I wanted to do something to show you that you aren’t alone here, (y/n).” He smiled nervously at you, “So I checked the weather to make sure the sky won’t be cloudy tonight, so we can see the stars. I found an open place where it’s not busy and bustling, as you said. And I helped my Abuelita cook..” he finished, a hint of pride in his voice.
You were still taking in everything around you, not yet saying a word.
This caused Ruby to frown and he looked at you nervously, “Did I overstep..? I swear I wasn’t trying to overstep, (y/n). I was just trying-“
“I love it.” You finally looked over at Ruby, “I love it so much, Ruby.” you hugged him tightly, angling your body so you wouldn’t squish the flowers in your arms.
You could feel Ruby relax as he hugged you back.
You spoke softly, not pulling away from the hug, “No one has ever done anything like this for me.. not that I was expecting it, but this really means so much to me.” You expressed, slowly pulling away from the hug.
That proud smile returned to Ruby’s face. He grabbed your hand again and sat down on the blanket. “I’m really glad you like it.. you know what else you’ll like?” He asked, reaching into the basket and pulling out food.
“Hm??” You watched what he was pulling out of the basket.
“My Abuelita’s empanadas. They’re to die for.” Ruby praised, handing you a plate and opening the container that contained the empanadas.
You both sat there eating and enjoying each other’s company. Watching the sun set, you both laid back on the blanket and looked up to the sky.
Ruby wrapped an arm around your shoulder. He watched as the sky darkened gradually, allowing the twinkling stars to be able to show.
You leaned into Ruby’s side and kept staring up at the stars, “You were wrong.” You told him, not breaking your stare.
Ruby turned his head in your direction. He knitted his eyes in confusion, “About what?” His voice laced with curiosity.
You turned your head towards him, “This wasn’t a failed attempt. This was perfect, Ruby.” You smiled over at him, now seeing him in a new light. Maybe he wouldn’t always be just a friend. Maybe one day it could be more than that.
Turning over to grab a sunflower from the grass, Ruby turned back towards you and tucked the flower behind your ear. “Good, because you deserve nothing less than perfection, (y/n).”

Request for Jadana and them adopting a pet
“He’s fabulous.”
“Kitana… really?”
“The peak of beauty.”
“Kitana,” Jade giggled.
“Look at him. Perfection.”
Right now a wrinkly, bare Sphynx cat was contently purring away in Kitana’s arms as she stroked its bare hide. Jade giggled as Kitana cooed sweetly over the strange creature.
“Such a sweet and beautiful creature… we must have him,” Kitana cooed, scratching the purring naked cat’s ears.
“This one? Out of all the ones at the shelter?” Jade smiled, gesturing to the wide selection of pets available at this Earthrealm ‘adoption event’ that Cassie and Jin had taken them too.
“He’s sweet! Look at how he’s letting me hold and pet him, hear him purring!”
“The poor thing might get terribly cold back in Outworld,” Jade noted as she pet the purring cat’s head, getting a lovely pair of bright green eyes staring adoringly at the two of them.
“We’ll get him some sweaters. Oh he is just so precious!”
Jade giggled again.
“What shall we call him, if he is coming home with us?”
“Kitty Kahn, obviously.”
Jade broke out into tearful laughter at that.
“O-of course, my love,” Jade laughed.
“He’s already made you smile! See, perfection!” Kitana grinned.
“Absolute perfection,” Jade giggled.
