𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐚
— 2018 [We Go Up Era]
summary: just when johnny and jaehyun thought aiko couldn't get more adorable, she did.
note: dialogues in bold - are in english
Tumblr media
The camera shifts, a palm retreating as the frame focuses on the face of the one and only Johnny.
"Hello everyone, welcome to another episode of JCC—Johnny's Communication Center." He greets, the background noise and the visible colors of yellow and blue, making it painfully obvious that he was at Ikea.
Confirming suspicions, the 6-footer declared what he would be doing for the content,
"We are here on a mission, to buy a lamp."
The camera shifts once more, and it's suddenly showing two figures: one hyperactively clinging at the other who looked like she absolutely despised it (she didn't, she lowkey missed Jaehyun too).
"I'm here with Jaehyun, and Aiko. I want to buy a lamp for my room, and Aiko here wants to buy a new bookshelf."
"It broke." She managed to utter, Jaehyung still linking their arms together, visibly very happy that his favorite dongsaeng was hanging out with him after it felt like years (it was a few months, AIko told him he was overreacting).
"That's because you keep way too many books in a single one," Johnny teasingly reprimanded, with Jaehyun taking over the camera as his face zoomed in, his dimples clearly on display.
"I'm going to buy Aiko's shelf and I'm going to buy myself a pillow."
"Don't bother Jeffrey. I can buy my own,"
"I'll pretend I didn't hear that."
Tumblr media
The trio finally made their way inside, and surprisingly, it wasn't as packed as they thought it would be, bringing them a sense of relief because that meant they could explore with a little more freedom; but of course, for Johnny and Jaehyun, that freedom meant a whole lot of unrestrictive goofing around.
First, it was the mini-kitchen that was meant for kids;
"Jaehyun, wash your hands. Are you washing your hands?" Johnny asked teasingly, Jaehyun's voice being picked up by the camera despite his figure being out of the frame.
"Yes, Johnny." Then there he was, adorably crouched in front of a kiddie-sink, mimicking the motion for washing hands.
"Aiko come wash hands with me." He invited, and the camera shifts to Aiko who let out a scoff, though there was an amused glint in her eyes.
"I'm not five, Jeffrey."
Second, it was the mini-table, probably marketed towards kids who were fond of hosting make-believe tea parties.
"Sit with me Aiko, sit with me." Jaehyun invited once more, taking the lead as Johnny followed.
A sigh could be heard at the back, with Aiko holding the camera for her unsurprisingly childish opppas.
"I'm so sorry you have to see this, czennies. Johnny-oppa is usually so cool, but when he's with Jeffrey—"
"Yah!"
Then lastly, there were the snake pillows, lying around as Jaehyun suddenly grabbed one and acted as if he was being bitten; Johnny, enthusiastically playing along.
"Jason! Jason! That's my friend Jason!"
As they played, the frame shifts again to Aiko, a smirk playing at her lips as she scoffed; looking at the camera dead-on,
"Ikea has magic, they make grown men behave like kids."
Tumblr media
Despite Aiko acting cool and sly throughout the video, however, refusing to partake in any goofing around initiated by both Johhny and Jaehyun, her childishness unabashedly revealed itself when she was faced with her most favorite thing in the world.
"Oh." She stopped, her mouth hung low as her eyes sparkled.
Suddenly, she tugged at Jaehyun's sleeves, "Oppa,"
Her sudden tone of respect alerted the duo, looking wide-eyed at Aiko.
Aiko then straightforwardly pointed to something that was placed on the highest shelf;
It was a giant slice of strawberry shortcake in the form of a plush toy, way too big to even fit in one cart.
With her gaze unwavering, she requested, "Please buy me that one."
There was silence, before both Johnny and Jaehyun burst out in laughter, finding Aiko's unusual behavior absolutely adorable (she always was in their eyes, but when she does aegyo, it really messes them up.)
"I thought you didn't like childish things? That's like for five and up Aiko." Jaehyun commented,
"Yeah, and besides, it won't fit in the car, we can look for a smaller one if you'd like." Johnny agreed, though it was more because of how he wanted to see Aiko's reaction to his rejection, for he actually didn't care if the toy was too big.
Aiko showed an expression of disbelief, before taking a deep breath and displaying the biggest puppy eyes she could muster (something Jungwoo taught her).
"Aiko is going to be sad if she doesn't buy the toy, Aiko wants the toy, so can oppa please buy it for her?" Internally cringing inside, Aiko fought on, her gaze filled with tenacity as she was out to convince them to buy it for her, or in the worst case, just give it to her since her height didn't allow her to (and she was too shy to ask for the staff's help).
Jaehyun covered his mouth, while Johhny's was wide open. Red filling their cheeks as they cooed,
"Yah, you have a lot of aegyo."
"Do more, do more!"
Pleased with their response, she smirked, "Buy me the toy first," she stated in her normal voice.
"Before Aiko can come back like this!" Then she started doing aegyo again.
Needless to say, Aiko went home that day with three of the big plushies; locking a promise with both members that if they ever try to tell anyone, they would never see "precious aiko" again.
Tumblr media
[AN] I'm going to start slowly integrating the other units of NCT, though the main focus is still going to be Aiko and the dreamies :>
Hope you like this one! I'm working on more so stay tuned hehe, and also, your feedback really makes me happy ajsghdasghdasd, so if you can, tell me what you think! uwu

Having exhausted all excuses I return to the health club.
Beautiful weather.
Tuesday, May 8, 2018
Health club again.  Study music in preparation for this week's rehearsals.
Wednesday, May 9, 2018
First rehearsal of the ABT spring season. (At JCC.)  "Giselle."  Chas conducting.  John Ostrowski in.  Lou (who, apparently, is having health issues) out.  Dan H playing timpani in place of Lou.  Huge array of percussion instruments.  All of this stuff brought here by Kenichi yesterday.  Tons of stuff, much of it used for "Rite of Spring."
Rehearsal goes without incident.
Later: Go with Roger to MacDougal Street to see Vanderlei Pererira, the amazing blind Latin drummer. A phenom.  Tiny downstairs club called La Lanterna di Vittorio.  (You'd walk right by it if you didn't know it was there.) Just watching Vanderlei set up his drums, by feel, is worth the price of admission.  Trio.  Paul Meyers on guitar. A half dozen or so people in attendance. An hour of this is all I can absorb.  At their break the band is given pizza.  Wonder if pizza is all they get for their efforts.
The Yankees (big bats) continue to win and have now captured first in their division.
Note: A final Jeopardy question...the category was opera.  One of the contestants a trained opera singer.  The phrasing of the question was a bit odd.  A twelve minute piece (odd choice of word here) that musically portrays dawn, a storm and a gallop.  One contestant had no idea.  One got it right.  The opera singer set her sights too high and was about to write "La Wally."  She must have learned that beautiful aria from the Catalani.

Dadakan JavaJazzFest
Bokap nyampe rumah hari Sabtu subuh, sekitar jam 4, jadi pas ogut bangun buat berangkat sekolah doi baru tertidur lelap.
Giliran udah seumur anak kuliahan, banyak banget halangannya buat nonton JJF.
Sampai akhirnya suatu hari tuh temen ogut, Hotma, nge-dm via instagram. Doi ngajak buat ikutan giveaway-nya Billboard Indonesia buat dapetin tiket one day pass nya JJF.
Gila jodoh banget emang.
Bass betot bahasa inggrisnya apaan dah? Setelah kelar nonton mereka, kami keluar gedung dan mulai nyari show lain.
Setelah nonton Arsy, aku sama Hotma iseng nyari show yang venuenya deketan sama venuenya Mac Ayres. Plis banget ogut pengen nonton Mac Ayres pokoknya udah mohon-mohon ke Hotma duluan. Akhirnya sembari nunggu Mac Ayres yang masih manggung nanti, kami masuk aja tuh ke shownya Yamaha gitu.
Meskipun agak telat dateng, untungnya kami masih dapet tempat duduk di belakang. Ini sekaligus momen pertama kali ogut nonton Rosa, Rini Wulandari, sama Is ex Payung Teduh.
Sampe situ ogut sama Hotma udah pasrah, bener-bener langsung balik kanan trus malah ke food court lagi beli minuman soalnya haus.

The Amy X-Perience at the Jewish Community Center, Berkeley
As we are in the middle of Passover, it seems like a good time to look back at a Jewish-themed show in which I participated earlier this year. The Amy X-Perience brought together a mix of artists in solo, duo and ensemble sets at the Jewish Community Center in Berkeley, California. The evening was curated by our friend and collaborator Amy X Neuburg.
The night began with a piece by Neuburg featuring electronics and potato chips. Yes, potato chips. Small vending-machine-sized bags were distributed to the audience, who were instructed to on cue open the bags and start chewing the (edible) contents loudly, as Neuburg manipulated the sounds and added additional musical layers.
I was up next. Regular readers have likely already heard part of my solo set from this show – I posted the performance of piece White Wine in this article a couple of weeks ago. I also performed a live version of my piece Donershtik (Yiddish for “Thursday”), which you can see below.

I was quite happy with how both solo pieces came out, but the real treat was having Amy join me in a duo of my piece North Berkeley BART, humorously appropriate for the location that evening.

I have always been impressed with Amy’s musicianship, discipline and ability to learn songs quickly, and very much appreciated her joining me. We also performed an avant-garde rendition of the American standard All of Me later in the evening.
Between the two of us, there was quite an impressive collection of musical electronics on stage.
My solo set was followed by Alex Kelley, a veritable one-man band on cello and electronics.
His music blended jazz, klezmer and rock influences with experimental sounds. His cello acted not only as a melodic instrument, but also as the rhythm section, with Kelley striking it like a drum at times, and recording bass lines into a live looper and then riffing on top of that. His performance was both tight and humorous and a lot of fun to watch. You can hear a little bit in this video:
Next up was Solstice: A Female Vocal Ensemble. Sadly, several members of the group were unfortunately absent that evening due to illness, but that didn’t stop the remaining trio from delivering a strong performance.
Solstice’s repertoire spans a variety of styles and languages, and their set that evening included pieces from several places. I was quite impressed with their ability so sing in so many languages.
The second half of the program brought together the various artists in different combinations. I already mentioned my duo rendition of All of Me with Amy X Neuburg. She also performed show tunes with Alex Kelley, and joined Solstice for a virtuosic rendition of an Eastern European song. And finally, all of us joined together for a rousing rendition of Mein Herr from Cabaret. It was a fun and fitting conclusion to the evening.
Second half brought many voices in many languages and showtunes #AmyXNeuburg

All of the performances were well received by the enthusiastic full house. Thank you to Amy X Neuburg for inviting all of us to participate in this event, and to the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay for hosting! Please visit their website to find out about the many performances and other cultural programs hosted by the JCC.

Softball claims 1st Win of 2017 after splitting with Jarvis Christian
Source: http://udallasathletics.com/sports/sball/2016-17/releases/201702270crp8x
IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas softball team earned its first victory of 2017 by winning game two of a doubleheader Sunday against Jarvis Christian College. Solid pitching from Lauren Galvan (Bryan, Texas) and defense backed early run support through two innings for Dallas in a 3-2 win. The triumph ended a five-game slide for the Crusaders, who lost 10-4 in game one to Jarvis Christian.
GAME ONE INFORMATION
Team Scores: Jarvis Christian College (10), University of Dallas (4)
Team Records: Jarvis Christian (3-5), Dallas (0-5)
Pitcher of Record: W) Salazar (2-2), L) Lee (0-3)
NOTABLE STATISTICS
- Jade Miller (Plano, Texas) recorded the only multi-hit game for Dallas with a 2-for-4. She added her team-leading 3rd steal.
- Allison Kotlar (Edna, Texas) drove in her 1st runner of the season and had a hit.
- Mackenzie Tano (Wylie, Texas) went yard for her the 1st collegiate home run.
- Allie Driskill (Houston, Texas) logged the other UD extra base knock with her 1st career double.
- Katie Lee (Houston, Texas) tied a season-high six strikeouts in back-to-back outings. She allowed four earned runs in seven innings.
- Her counterpart, Alejandra Salazar picked up the win allowing four runs (3 earned) on seven hits. She tallied three walks and strikeouts while going the distance.
- Salazar was also a threat at the plate with the two of the Bulldogs' with three-hit games.
- The other was Paris Harper (3-4) who drove in four on a grand slam, scored twice, and swiped a pair of bags.
HOW IT HAPPENED
A six-run first inning was too deep of a hole for the Crusaders to climb from. Olinda Mollnar singled up the middle to drive in the first run. After a second run came home, Rashell Copper popped up for the second out. However, the bags were full and Harper crushed a homer to left field and plated everyone.
Another run in the third extended the advantage to seven, but Dallas fought to erase part of the margin to four over the third and fourth innings. Kotlar was able to circle the bases on a throwing error by JCC's pitcher when she bunted. In the next bottom half of the inning, Tano lifted a two-run blast to make it 7-3. Those pair of runs batted in give Tano three.
Right away however, the Bulldogs countered with three runs in the top half of the fifth to seal the win. The first two outs were made but a pair of infield singles respectively by Copper and Harper created trouble. With them on the corners, Harper stole second base, and a leaning Copper drew a wide throw to third that allowed her to advance. Then Jallen Douglas tripled to right-center field and Cynthia Velazquez completed the damage with a single to right.
GAME TWO INFORMATION
Team Scores: Jarvis Christian College (2), Dallas (3)
Team Records: Jarvis (3-6), Dallas (1-5)
Pitcher of Record: W) Fagnana (1-4) L) Galvan (1-0)
NOTABLE STATISTICS
- Miller etched her 2nd homer of the season with an inside the park round-tripper. It also extended her hitting streak to six games.
- Kotlar continued her strong day in run production with another pair of ribbies.
- Katelyn Lazarek (Seattle, Wash.), Tera Espinosa (Caldwell, Texas) collected there first base knocks of the campaign.
- A trio of Crusaders: Melanie Savala (Byran, Texas), Tano, and Lazarek each had a stolen base.
- Galvan in her first collegiate start (2nd appearance) threw a complete game and earned her first collegiate win. In the circler, Galvan allowed two runs and scattered seven hits. She walked none and struck out a pair.
- For the Bulldogs, Salazar was perfect at the plate (3-3) and doubled for the lone extra base hit on the guests. She was 6-for-8 in the twinbill.
- Crystal Fagnana had the lone RBI with a hit. She also pitched and threw six frames. Her final line was: six hits, three runs, one walk, and five strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the second matchup, Dallas took first blood as Miller sent a towering ball to deep center. With the wind blowing all afternoon the centerfielder was nowhere near the ball as it fell near the numbers against the wall. Miller scampered around the bases and scored an inside the park home run.
After the early lead, Savala singled to right and stole second. However the next two Crusaders did not bring her in. In the second inning, Tano led off by being hit by pitch. She swiped second and Lazarek laced a single through the left side to place them on the corners. Lazarek on the next batter stole UD's third of the contest. A pair of strikeouts followed giving Fagnana four-of-five during the first five outs. Kotlar made sure to take advantage of the runners in scoring position with a solid knock the other way to right.
Dallas only required the three runs as Galvan battled through seven innings to hold onto the team's first win. She started off by letting two Bulldogs reach on singles. However, the freshman maintained her composure and induced groundout to first unassisted between two flyouts to center in the first inning. The next two frames were nearly spotless other than a two-out single up the middle.
In the fourth, Galvan faced her first adversary with a pair of runs bringing Jarvis Christian within one (3-2). Another two-out single started the rally. Harper had the single up the middle and then Copper bunted to first for a single. The speedy tandem were on the corners and successfully pulled a delayed double steal to break the shutout. Fagnana helped her own cause in the circle with a hit through the right side. A groundout to second by Douglas ended the threat.
The Crusaders offense only had one hit from that point on which was the next batter, Espinosa, that led off the bottom part of the inning with a bunt to the pitcher. The next nine outs would follow keeping UD's bats silent.
That left things in the hands of Galvan and defense in home white to contain a 3-2 edge. A one-out double for Salazar in the fifth was the last big scoring chance for the visitors. Ileah Cox pinch hit and flied out to right and Molinar ground out to third to end the frame. Galvan retired the final eight batters in a row, which included a fly out from pinch hitter Tyesha Johnson.
UP NEXT
Dallas continues a season-long, 10-game homestand on Tuesday versus University of Texas at Dallas. First pitch slated at 5 p.m.
