Caught up on JJK manga. Spoilers below, I've tried to tag every way I can think of.
And even though that was spoiled for me, it was still just heartbreaking. Ironically, I have a fic in process with a not dissimilar view on the afterlife, including a debate about whether it's heaven, hell, or purgatory.
I'm so fucking gutted for Shoko, my perfect, exhausted woman, prettiest girl in the world.
Other little thoughts:
Aside from the kinda cheap shot of "Gojo won" lol nuh uh, I really liked the way it was presented.
Not that I think this was deliberate, but I did like that Nanago and Satosugu shippers both got a little food, with Geto and Gojo side by side, but Gojo and Nanami closest. (Do not come at me with ship wars, I'm way too fucking old and you're 100% allowed to like whatever you like, I don't care.)
I liked that they were teenagers again, like the childhoods stolen from them were given back.
Poor Yaga. He doesn't deserve this.
Possibly because it was only the '06-'07 era, but can't help but notice: Nobara ain't there!!! (Give me back my hammer daughter, Gege.)
Fushiguro has lost so damn much. Stop it.
Anyway. <\3 Gojo, you dumbass.

Gojo has his head. In season 2 he tells toji he failed to kill him because he didn't cut off his head. Sukuna didn't cut off his head. He can still heal his body.
Plus we see Nanami tell gojo that there are two paths. One to change you or one to stay who you are. Gojo says goodbye to his dead friends and we see him walk away showing he's taking the second path. We also see a lotus then.
Which symbols strength and renewal.
Also I have a moot who lives in Japan… everyone there is not worried about this at all and is saying he will live as “death and revival” is common in final anime battles… so it’s only us English speakers freaking out.
Gojo is not dying. He may be gone a few chapters but everything his hunting he will heal his body and be back.
Gojo will live.
Im very sorry for the late reply
But yes, since Gojo has his head on, theres hope. But in the jjk237 leaks, theres absolutely no trace of his body or blood. Is it a drawing error or was he taken away? That aside, he can probably heal himself if thats how RCT works, and even if he cant, ieiri can.
The Japanese fans not being worried about him "dying' is interesting tho. I'll start following that idea.
So yes, Gojo will LIVE

Have you seen the official translation? Now I heavily believe he still alive but the official translation are giving me doubts but in imo if he’s really dead then it will be bad writing because how come the hero can’t be “overpowered” because it would “ruined” the story/plot but one does a terrible death like that for such a great character two how come the villain can be overpowered and get a random power up without it “ruining” the story/plot three considering there’s only like 5-6 important characters left the ending will not be great imo (sorry for the long rant/ask)
Yes, I've seen the official translation and just replied to someone regarding that. Theres a small bit of hope and ive typed it there. I also hope he spawns out of nowhere like toji or as a cursed spirit- that would be interesting.
Moving on, we've already seen bad writing with whats going on between meimei and uiui- like dont even get me started on that monstrosity. But this is just going to push the bad writing narrative further, because you cant just create a character so overpowered (in words, atleast) hype him up so hard, just to give an unsatisfying ending. Its not bad to kill off characters imo, but atleast make it make sense. To kill off a character who's been called the strongest all along, off screen and not actually explain properly is terrible writing. Gege already kinda fumbles around with explanations about techniques, doesnt follow the powerscaling that they created and now this. Its pretty disappointing.
Couldve atleast given him a proper death, if that is the case. Considering the popularity of Gojo this wasnt the right call to make either.
The villain having the power up could just be an example of gege either hating gojo as always and trying to get rid of him, or he's trying to fasten the pace of the story. Not the best way to go about though.
Ending not being great is kind of a given imo. If gojo is gone and Nobara- a long story, i believe he'd prolly finish off megumi and go with what he said in an interview “Among Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, and Gojo, one will die, or all but one will die."
It seems to me that we're heading towards the latter. He doesnt have a proper concept of female characters. Maki has accomplished what she wanted to, Toge well idk, Panda cant do much with his father figure and teacher gone. Yuta and Yuji are left in that sense with all others being characters who wouldnt get their big moments. I wonder where the story would head with this.
AND, dw bout it being long lol, i love reading your thoughts!

Hi I was the last anon thank you for listening to my thoughts I also have some more to share
imo killing off a character because you simply don’t like them/feel you made them too op is not only bad writing but lazy writing a good story also needs good deaths and the last good death we had was nanami
gege is letting his edgy teenage boy humor/writing out instead worry about making an actual good story/plot like I get this is his story but this is also his job and tbh gojo dying like that might actually make his sells drop because even the Japanese fandom is mad/upset and whatever happens next week is the week I will be dropping jjk(that’s all my thoughts till next week leaks)
Truly yes, the proper and complete death we had was nanami, and after that everything just seemed off imo. I mean Yaga was killed by that old dude (i dont bother enough to remember his name) but it just didnt seem impactful? It could be just me but yeah just putting that forth.
I dont mean to compare authors but honestly in this sense, I admire Eiichiro Oda for how he kills off characters by making them actually impactful, meaningful and by giving them a complete character closure.
Back to jjk, theres so many ways to put a character out of commission so to kill them off with an offscreen death and a new technique that spawned out of nowhere is just irritating. Why would you make a character and then hate on them lmao.
He's just letting his dislike shine through but yeah idk if he considered the impact of finising gojo off in sales pov. He's already getting death threats (which is plain stupid) but he shouldve seen this coming from miles away. This might cause an impact to the plot considering how there are two major villains left but not enough characters on the ally side. I mean, if gojo satoru cant rival sukuna, then how would the others without new spawned powers?
Next week i feel he'd just forget about Gojo and move on to a bunch of chapters with Kashimo, but thats just my guess. Only time will tell, We'll see.

I loved your argument on why narratively it makes sense for him to be revived.
appearantly tho the first leak translation was pretty flawed... Do you have any new opinions or changes in thought with this new one?

i just finished reading that and my heart sunk. BUT the lotus flowers probably have a meaning, atleast in the rebirth sense. Red spider lilies were used in the s2 opening
Tumblr media
so lotuses probably do hold some sort of a relevance here. Lotuses could signify rebirth or resilience
"the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties"
"the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape"
^both meanings of resilience
Other than this, he is yet to delve into the topic of whether he is “satoru gojo bc he’s the strongest or the strongest bc he’s satoru gojo”
I also believe in the abilities of shoko and yuta (if hes able to work on RCT and yknow, not get occupied in the battle). Shoko hasnt had a definitive character moment yet so this could be her moment to shine. She's already lost people close to her so maybe she'd go all out in this case
At the moment all we can do is be high on copium. Lets see what happens in next week's leaks.
Its pretty unfortunate that there were mistranslations, but lets hold on to hope!

Oh thank you for sending this! The second and third pages are just so heavy- its pretty crazy how he, who is always portrayed to be confident and narcisstic has now had a complete change in the outlook of himself. Sad that he went into this self depreciation/ humble mode but yeah. Going from Ore to Boku is kinda insane for a character like Gojo lol
It seems that he admits sukuna was strong (like duh its a 1000+ year old curse with megumi's CT) but also seems extremely unhappy about the fact that he lost, and doesnt mention anything much about the future of the fight (when he got sealed, he says that he has hope on the students and the others, which hasnt happened here per se) so he might actually choose north and come back!
This translation did give me more hope considering how its pretty open ended or vague in the direction sense. Lets keep hoping!
