A Feathursday of Wood-Engraved Parrots
This week we showcase some Psittaciformes engraved in wood by the Brothers Dalziel from the Birds volume of The Illustrated Natural History by English natural history writer John George Wood (1827-1889), published in London by George Routledge & Sons in 1865.
J. G. Wood was not a professional zoologist, but rather an ordained priest who relinquished his pastoral duties to become one of the most well-known parson-naturalists of the Victorian era, especially for his numerous publications and his famous public lectures both in Great Britain and America.
The Brothers Dalziel was a prominent family wood-engraving business founded in 1839 by George Dalziel (1815-1902), and composed of four brothers and one sister. The engravings shown here were made from illustrations by several artists, including William Stephen Coleman, Harrison Weir, and T. W. Wood.

Technology from 1870-1899 (For Encanto fic writers)
So, A mutual of mine @miracles-and-butterfliess pointed out that everyone (including me) tends to forget that Encanto was literally made when the triplets were born. Which is literally 1900 or 1901. Regardless, it was the very beginning of the 19th century so let me tell you about the technology/things they would/wouldn’t have. (And please keep in mind that most of these may or may not have been imported into Colombia yet.)
1870 - 1879
1872—A.M. Ward creates the first mail-order catalog. NO
1873—Joseph Glidden invented barbed wire. NO
1876—Alexander Graham Bell patents the telephone. NO
1876—Nicolaus August Otto invents the first practical four-stroke internal combustion engine. NO
1876—Melville Bissell patents the carpet sweeper. NO?
1878—Thomas Edison invents the cylinder phonograph (known then as the tin foil phonograph). MAYBE

1884—L. A. Thompson built and opened the first roller coaster in the United States at a site on Coney Island, New York. NO
1884—James Ritty invents a functional mechanical cash register. YES?
1884—Charles Parson patents the steam turbine. NO
1885—Karl Benz invented the first practical automobile powered by an internal-combustion engine. NO (even before Encanto, Alma’s town looked rural so I doubt the automobile reached them yet.)
1885—Gottlieb Daimler invented the first gas-engine motorcycle. NO
1886—John Pemberton introduces Coca-Cola. NO
1886—Gottlieb Daimler designs and builds the world's first four-wheeled automobile. NO
1887—Heinrich Hertz invents radar. NO
1887—Emile Berliner invented the gramophone. YES
1887—F.E. Muller and Adolph Fick invented the first wearable contact lenses. NO
1888—Nikola Tesla invents the alternating current motor and transformer. NO
1890 - 1899
1891—Jesse W. Reno invents the escalator. NO
1892—Rudolf Diesel invents the diesel-fueled internal combustion engine, which he patents six years later. NO
1892—Sir James Dewar invents the Dewar vacuum flask. NO
1893—W.L. Judson invents the zipper. NO (zippers didn’t become popular globally until a little bit later; buttons, ribbons/laces and whatever else were still the norm/in fashion for fastening and tying (which is still the case in some places today)
1895—Brothers Auguste and Louis Lumière invent a portable motion-picture camera that doubles as a film-processing unit and projector. The invention is called the Cinematographe and using it, the Lumières project the motion picture for an audience. NO?
1899—J.S. Thurman patents the motor-driven vacuum cleaner. NO (if you're running from being killed, the last thing you're going to bring is a vacuum cleaner)
I remember a post listing the sort of jobs there would be in Encanto but I forgot so I’ll just list the ones I know (let me know if I need to add anything.):
Seamstress/tailor
Embellisher
Field worker
Teacher (of any kind; music, dance, art, etc)
Woodworker - wood carver
Toy maker
Construction worker
Joining a Local band/ Orchestra - being apart of a choir
Carpenter
Metal worker
Jeweler (though I’m not sure if Jewelery of the diamond/gem kind is common in Encanto)
bladesmith/ knifemaker
Inventor? (Inventors should exist in Encanto by now…just one other genius besides Mirabel?)
I know some of these are very obvious but I’m just giving people options okay?
@miracles-and-butterflies you seem to know a lot more about this kind of stuff so if you have anything to add/take away or me to fix please let me know. I tried to search up “When was X invention imported into Colombia” and literally nothing of use comes up.

If I was writing the 60 special of General Hospital
I just finished watching the 60 special, and it was great, but it could have been amazing. Here is what I would do:
I would have asked for it to be more than 60 minutes. Ninety minutes would have worked.
For the host and moving it along. It was a choice to make it LW. You should have done beloved fan favourites. I would have done the following:
Becky and Kelly or Genie and Jane or Tabyana and Nicholas. Those would be how to make most of the fanbase happy.
I would cut down on the guest people and Stephen A. Smith. You could have done a small two minutes on some of the most famous people. John Stamos was an excellent choice to do that part.
The part of the dancing should have been Kelly and Finola talking about guest and cast performances.
More old clips and talking about families such as the Hardy-Webber, Quartermaine, Cassadine, and Spencer.
Here's how I would have done it. (I love the energy Kelly and Becky have in scenes together, so that I would have them)
Becky and Kelly are getting ready for the show, and both are in their most iconic or favourite outfits. (Becky could be in one of her wedding dresses or nurse ball dress, and Kelly could be too.)
Becky starts it off with the Hardy-Webber family and how Dr. Steve Hardy started the show, and you get clips of the family members and the first clip of the first episode. Then Kelly added that it began as a hospital show, but it grew into more, and then we get more clips of the Cassadine-Jermoe families and the cops and others.
But I would have Kristen Storms jump in and talk about the fantastic guest stars and famous people they had on, such as Elizabeth’s father, Richard Dean Anderson and John Stamos. That was when I would have John Stamos talk about getting the role and the other famous faces. Clips of Richard Dean Anderson, John Stamos, Demi Moore, Ricky Martin, Meghan Markle, Jonathan Jackson, Nathan Parsons, Rick Springfield, and lastly, Amber Tamblyn, who introduces the Quartermaine where she meets up with Wally, Rene, Jane, and Lisa at the Qs where they say a line if these walls could talk. This could lead to wedding dresses, with Lynn wearing her famous wedding dress.
Becky, Lynn, Brook, and Kristina are wearing their iconic wedding dresses with others such as Nancy, Laura W, and Katelyn in theirs. I would still have the same clips but with Brook talking about the first interracial wedding in the daytime. And showing iconic wedding clips such as Tom Hardy’s wedding, Steve and Audrey’s wedding, Drew and Sam’s wedding, Tiffany and Sean’s wedding, Laura and Kevin’s wedding, Scott and Laura’s wedding, Luke and Laura’s wedding, Monica and Alan’s wedding, Robert and Anna’s wedding, and one of Sonny and Carly’s wedding. And I would have Cynthia in one of her wedding dresses from Valentin and her wedding about almost weddings with clips such as Kate and Sonny’s wedding, Drew and Elizabeth’s wedding, Valentin and Nina’s wedding, and Patrick and Sabrina’s wedding.
Here is where I would have Genie host a segment on the Cassadine and Spencers as her wedding clip to Luke finishes with Helena's curse, and we have flashbacks to the war between the families and how other families get involved. I would have Nicholas C join her with Hudson, and they joke about what comes next for the Cassadine-Webber-Spencers war.
Tristan joins them and jokes with Hudson that their character has something in common, such as coming back from death, and they have clips of characters who have done that. This is where I would have the Steve B announcement, but I would have Hudson and Asher, Jason’s sons, to make the announcement.
The next segment I would do is about parties and events in PC that never go well with Dominic and Josh. The part of the dancing should have been Kelly and Finola talking about guest and cast performances at the Nurses Ball.  Donnell joins them, and talks about those making good Emmy reels, and they talk about General Hospital wins at the Emmys.
Maurice, Laura, and Jon talk about iconic storylines about serious topics, and they show clips which I would like to lead into a clip of an upcoming storyline about Adam’s storyline.
Rick and Kin talks about all of the ones the shows have lost in real life with clips, and I want them to include Billy Miller in this one. I would have Jane and Genie join them with Kristina, Tristan, and Finola as we have them honour long-standing characters.
Becky and Kelly return and have a segment about fans' favourite storylines where they ask fans.
Tanisha and Jon talk about babies, how we watch characters have kids and how it is always so dramatic. We have clips of all the main cast who give birth on the show of their most dramatic, such as Elizabeth with Jake and Aiden, Sam with Danny and Scout, Maxie with Georgie, James and Bailey, Alexis with Kristina and Molly, Carly with Michael, Morgan, and Josslyn, Robin with Emma, Felicia with Georgie and Maxie, Monica with AJ, Lucy with Serena, Sabrina with Gabriel, Olivia with Leo, and Britt with Rocco.
I still have Cynthia and Maura do the bloopers and the ending of the special because that was done well. And the end of the whole thing should be a clip of the upcoming Bobbie’s episode.

Hey! How are you doing? Hope you're having a lovely day whenever you read this!!
So, I have two different things to ask, but I'll make them both, sorry to be bothering and hope this doesnt get too long lol
1st. I know that Adrienne was a deeply Christian woman from birth to death, and I know that in some time in her life she helped out Protestants (?). So, my question here is basically, did she always helped people from other religions like that? or that was just something she used to do out of charity without caring too much about those people? Did she always sort of have it in her or did she only started it because of everything that was happening in the country? (dont know if i worded that in a understandable way, if i didnt let me know)
2nd. did the lafayette's (and their respective families) owned any sort of pets? (I've heard of that dog that Gilbert had and when he died, it went to live with his valet (?), but when did he got that dog too? did it simply appear in front of the house and it stayed? so many questions... so many questions... lmao)
Dear @msrandonstuff,
Don’t you worry, I am never bothered by asks! :-)
For the first question, Adrienne was a devout catholic. She was taught by her mother and the duchess d’Ayen always allowed Adrienne, her sisters and later La Fayette, when he moved in with the family, to question things. In my opinion that is not only a very healthy way to teach religion but also reduces prejudges. Adrienne's husband La Fayette was a great champignon of religious freedom. He wrote to George Washington on May 11, 1785:
102 ⟨Protestants⟩ in 12 ⟨France⟩ are under intolerable 80 ⟨Despotism⟩—altho’ oppen persecution does not now Exist, yet it depends upon the whim of 25 ⟨king⟩; 28 ⟨queen⟩, 29 ⟨parliament⟩, or any of 32 ⟨the Ministers⟩—marriages are not legal among them—their wills Have no force By law—their children are to Be Bastards—their parsons to Be Hanged—I Have put it into My Head to Be a 1400 ⟨Leader⟩ in that affair, and to Have their Situation changed—with that wiew I am Going, under other pretences to Visit their chief places of abode, With a Consent of 42 ⟨Castries⟩, and an other—(…) it is a Work of time, and of Some danger to me, Because none of them Would give me a Scrap of paper, or Countenance whatsoever—But I Run My chance—(…).
“To George Washington from Lafayette, 11 May 1785,” Founders Online, National Archives, [Original source: The Papers of George Washington, Confederation Series, vol. 2, 18 July 1784 – 18 May 1785, ed. W. W. Abbot. Charlottesville: University Press of Virginia, 1992, pp. 550–551.] (10/01/2022)
La Fayette was not lying, when he said that the undertaking could be somewhat dangerous to him. He wrote his letter in ciphers, tasked John Quincy Adams with delivering the letter personally because Adams was just returning to the States and asked Washington not to reply to his portion of the letter. Washington urged La Fayette to be carful and to that La Fayette replied on February 11, 1786:
(…) I thank you most tenderly, my dear General, for the Caution You Give me, which I will improve, and find that Satisfaction in my prudence to think it is dictated By You—I Hope, Betwen us, that in the Course of Next winter the affair of the protestants Will take a Good turn (…)
“To George Washington from Lafayette, 6 February 1786,” Founders Online, National Archives, [Original source: The Papers of George Washington, Confederation Series, vol. 3, 19 May 1785 – 31 March 1786, ed. W. W. Abbot. Charlottesville: University Press of Virginia, 1994, pp. 538–547.] (10/01/2022)
I got a bit distracted here so back to the question at hand. Adrienne was not opposed to Protestants gaining civil rights, but she was very opposed to every action that was directed against the Roman Catholic religion. She absolutely and staunchly refused to take mess from a priest who had sworn the civil oath and when La Fayette, himself more or less reluctantly, received the new Bishop of Paris for dinner, Adrienne made it a point to not partake. That was not just a private dispute about religious customs, but her absence at the dinner table made national headlines.
La Fayette was not happy about Adrienne’s behaviors during this time as he himself was between a rock and a hard place. He believed in religious freedom but was forced to carry out the politics of the assembly – politics that he often did not fully support. Adrienne was normally his strength and stay but in matters of religion she refused to bow even to her husband.
Adrienne had a firm stand on religious matters and she was willing to face serious repercussions for following her faith. I could not recall a specific event where Adrienne helped Protestants in particular and I also think that she did not knew a great many Protestants personally (simply because they were not in her private circles.) But Adrienne was also a gentle and carrying soul, a mother and someone who deeply believed in Christian charity, and I therefore can not imagine that she would have turned away someone needing or seeking her help, solely because of their religion.
As to the second question, yes, the La Fayette’s owned a number of animals but we have to differentiate here. After his release from prison and return to France, La Fayette started farming at La Grange. From Jules Germain Cloquet’s book we know that during the height of the farm, La Fayette owned 1000 – 1200 sheep, 30 – 40 cows and 100 – 150 pigs. Cloquet described the animal population of La Grange in great detail. How they came to the farm, how they were housed, how they were feed, how they smelled (the pigs emitted no “disagreeable smell”) and what not.
La Fayette also had a little ménagerie at La Grange for more exotic animals that he was gifted. Cloquet wrote:
One is a grated enclosure, a sort of ménagerie, in which Lafayette kept such foreign animals as were sent to him. After his return to France, he had received, from Governor Clarke, a young gray bear from the Missouri territory. Ever animated with the desire of being useful to his fellow-citizens, he refused to keep so rare an animal at Lagrange, and made a present of it to the professors of the Museum of Natural History, to be placed in their ménagerie.
Jules Germain Cloquet, Recollections of the Private Life of General Lafayette, Baldwin and Cradock, London, 1835, p. 213.
As to more domestic animals, you already mentioned La Fayette’s little white dog. Cloquet wrote:
During his malady, Lafayette was very fond of a small white bitch, which he had received, I believe, from Madame de Bourck, and which never quitted him. The animal, which was gifted with a remarkable degree of instinct, permitted nobody, except Bastien, to approach her master’s clothes when he was in bed, expressed joy or sorrow according as he felt better or worse, and might have served as a thermometer to indicate the state of his health. Since the General’s death, she has followed Bastien to Lagrange, but has never resumed her gaiety.
Jules Germain Cloquet, Recollections of the Private Life of General Lafayette, Baldwin and Cradock, London, 1835, p. 274.
La Fayette most likely owned more dogs during his lifetime, but I have neither numbers nor names for you. He was, however, quite knowledgeable about the different breeds and sometimes got his hands on dogs that his friends in America wanted to purchase. He was also a lover of horses and while he owned several horses during his lifetime, one is especially famous: Jean Le Blac – I wrote about him in a post on here but thanks to tumblr’s *exceptional* search-engine I can not even find my own post.
Hope that helped and I hope you day was/is just as lovely as mine was! :-)

A touch of B&W
do you see how you read but never actually “connect” your thoughts?

will you ever “find” me here?

Always reaching out from this shoreline…
and do you know our Creator and Father is always on a massive heavenly Throne ruling over Creation and its sacred “Breath”?
just as an immovable and majestic mountain, an unshakable Tree of Life
(Life is a constant and eternal force of nature inseparable from Love)
And Love is constantly True.
and we don’t normally hear God speak, nor do we see Him in His brightness (although people do see the Son as a Man and the 2nd Adam who is also now in Heaven)
but we have the silent and invisible Spirit here on garden earth with us to illumine His thoughts and His Heart inside our own
to offer hope and Light and encouragement for the journey…
(spiritual truth)
i hope to “mirror” this from the open book of my heart and its pure Winter dream by a conserved “seed”
A post by John Parsons:
Today is Tu B'Shevat, the 15th of Shevat, which marks the "new year" for trees...
====
The “Tree of Life,” etz ha’chayim (עֵץ הָחַיִּים), is mentioned ten times in the Scriptures. In the Torah it first appears in the center of the paradise of Eden (Gen. 2:9; 3:22-4), but it is soon lost to humanity because of Adam’s transgression. In the book of Revelation, it reappears in the center of the Paradise of God (Rev. 2:7, 22:2), resurrected on account of the faithful obedience of Yeshua as mankind’s “last Adam” (1 Cor. 15:45). Those who have washed their robes by means of His righteousness are given access to this Tree in the heavenly Jerusalem (Rev. 22:14). The paradise lost by Adam has been regained by the greater ben-adam, Son of man, Yeshua the Messiah.
In the book of Proverbs, the Tree of Life is a metaphor for the life of wisdom (chokhmah), which is the implied subject of our verse above (see Prov. 3:13). Traditional Judaism identifies talmud Torah (the study of Torah) as the Tree of Life, promising wisdom to those who “lay hold of her” (a Torah scroll has wooden rods called atzei chayim – the “trees of life” – used to roll the parchment). According to the Rabbis, the eternal life that was lost in Eden was restored to humanity with the giving of the Torah at Sinai.
A midrash says that in the paradise of olam haba (the world to come) there stands the Tree of Life, with the tree of knowledge forming a hedge around it. Only the wise one who has cleared a path for himself through the tree of knowledge can come close to it (which is said to be so enormous that it would take 500 years to walk around it). Beneath the Tree flows forth the water that irrigates the whole earth, parting into four streams, the Ganges, the Nile, the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers. In mystical (i.e., gnostic) Judaism, the Tree of Life is depicted as an elaborate symbol, the meditation of which is said to “clear the path” back to paradise.
Followers of Yeshua understand that He (alone) is the Tree of Life, the Center of the true Paradise of God (Rev. 22:2). He is the Seed, Root, Trunk, Branches, and Fruit that comes from heaven. The first Adam lost access to God by means of his transgression (eating from the tree of the “knowledge of good and evil”), but the “Greater Adam” reclaimed our access by means of His obedience, resisting the power of evil even to the point of death upon the “tree” of the cross (Phil. 2:8). The resurrection of the life of Yeshua is the “firstfruits” of all who put their trust in Him (1 Cor. 15:20; Jas. 1:18). Yeshua is the “Tree of Life in the center of the Paradise of God,” and all who retain Him are forever blessed indeed. Say ye Amen.

On This Day The Byrds Take One Last Flight! On this day in 1973 The Byrds made their final live appearance when they played at The Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. I was at the show w/Donna - Marshall Tucker opened for them...
Following the release of Farther Along, the Byrds continued to tour throughout 1972, but no new album or single release was forthcoming. Gene Parsons was fired from the group in July 1972 for a number of reasons, including McGuinn's growing dissatisfaction with his drumming, disagreements that he and McGuinn were having over band members' pay, and his own discontent over the band's lack of morale during this period.
Parsons was quickly replaced with L.A. session drummer John Guerin, who remained with the Byrds until January 1973, when he decided to return to studio work.  Although Guerin participated in recording sessions with the band and appeared on stage with them from September 1972, he was never an official member of the Byrds and instead received a standard session musician's wage, while continuing to undertake work for other artists as an in-demand studio player.  Three officially released Byrds recordings exist of the McGuinn-White-Battin-Guerin lineup: live versions of "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "Roll Over Beethoven" that were recorded for the soundtrack of the Earl Scruggs' film Banjoman, and a studio recording of "Bag Full of Money" that was included as a bonus track on the remastered reissue of Farther Along in 2000.
Following Guerin's departure, he was temporarily replaced for live performances by session drummers Dennis Dragon and Jim Moon.  The band underwent a further personnel change following a show on February 10, 1973 in Ithaca, New York, when Skip Battin was dismissed by McGuinn, who had capriciously decided that the bassist's playing abilities were no longer of a sufficient standard.  McGuinn turned to ex-Byrd Chris Hillman – who at that time was a member of the band Manassas – and asked him to step in as Battin's replacement for two upcoming shows on February 23 and 24.  Hillman agreed to play both concerts for the sum of $2,000 and also brought in Manassas percussionist Joe Lala to fill the vacant spot behind the drum kit.  Following a shambolic, underrehearsed performance at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey, on February 24, 1973, McGuinn cancelled the band's remaining concert commitments and disbanded the touring version of the Byrds, in order to make way for a reunion of the original five-piece line-up of the band.
Five months later, guitarist Clarence White was killed by a drunk driver in the early hours of July 15, 1973,[246] while he loaded guitar equipment into the back of a van after a concert appearance in Palmdale, California.[247]

Stroke: Thrombectomy Improved Functional Outcomes Overall and Across Different Subgroups
Tumblr media
MedicalResearch.com Interview with:
Tumblr media
Dr. Sarraj Amrou Sarraj, MD FAHAProfessor of Neurology, Case Western Reserve University School of MedicineGeorge M. Humphrey II Endowed Chair, University Hospitals Neurological Institute Director, Comprehensive Stroke Center and Stroke Systems, University Hospitals MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? What are the main findings? Response: Endovascular thrombectomy was proven safe and effective in patients with acute ischemic, stroke, neurologist, occlusion presenting up to 24 hours from last known well in multiple clinical trials. Patients with large ischemic changes were largely excluded from those trials, and thus limited randomized evidence of thrombectomy in this patient population exists. Our study found that thrombectomy improved the odds of achieving better functional outcomes by 1.5 times in patients with large ischemic changes on non-contrast CT or perfusion imaging. Proportion of patients achieving functional independence (mRS 0-2) and Independent ambulation (mRS 0-3) were also significantly higher with thrombectomy. Symptomatic hemorrhage occurred in very few patients and was not higher with thrombectomy. Results from analyses of subgroup based on clinical and imaging characteristics were also largely similar to those of primary analysis. MedicalResearch.com: What should readers take away from your report? Response: We observed that thrombectomy improved functional outcomes overall and across different subgroups in patients from North America, Europe and Australia and New Zealand. With available results of RESCUE Japan LIMIT trial showed better rates of independent ambulation in patients with large ischemic strokes and ANGEL ASPECT trial in China, I believe we have enough evidence to support thrombectomy procedure in this patient population. MedicalResearch.com: What recommendations do you have for future research as a results of this study? Response: Endovascular thrombectomy has been proven one of the most effective treatment in the history of medicine. With the results of our trial, one more frontier has been conquered to extend the treatment to thousands of patients with larger strokes who may benefit. Optimization of health care systems and enhancing thrombectomy delivery should be a priority to offer this potent intervention to more patients. Optimization of patients' care post thrombectomy, care transition and rehabilitations delivery would be vital to improve patients' outcomes. MedicalResearch.com: Is there anything else you would like to add? Any disclosures? Response: SELECT and SELECT2 trials were investigator-initiated studies funded by research grants from Stryker Neurovascular to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and UT McGovern Medical School. In addition, Dr Sarraj was an advisory board and speaker bureau member for Stryker Neurovascular and an advisory board member for AstraZeneca. The 1897 probate of Elizabeth P.W. Packard and her son Samuel
Tumblr media
Courtesy of the "Marquardt Law Firm's Blog"with the above image posted under the fair use exception to U.S. copyright law, with the above used for educational and scholarly purposes.
Earlier this year I wrote about Theophilus Packard and his wife Elizabeth Parsons Ware, later called E.P.W. Packard or Elizabeth P.W. Packard, both of whom were mentioned within that "mystery Packard family history book." Within the article I reprinted a "long and detailed obituary" for Elizabeth Packard in the San Francisco Chronicle in July 1897. Now, we have something more to add to the story. Using HeritageQuest, a version of Ancestry.com available to those with library cards, I was able to find her probate.
The first document was just a record showing the grants of administration of numerous individuals as the following page shows [1]:
Tumblr media
However, further cropping is necessary to remove the entries which don't relate to Elizabeth, and talk about her son, Samuel:
Tumblr media
It says she died on or about 27th of July 1897, with "real property" of $15,700 dollars, with her son Samuel W. Packard as administrator of the estate, bond to a fidelity and deposit company in Maryland to guarantee his bond of $4,000 dollars. The phrasing that she died "on or about" is not, as Judy Russell has written about, on her blog, The Legal Genealogist, part of the fine print about other aspects, but is rather purposeful. Michael John Neill described this on a post on his blog, Genealogy Tip of the Day in late January of this year:
Probate documents often indicate that someone died “on or about” a certain date. That phrasing is intentional. Usually the precise date of death is not germane to the settling of the estate and if later it turns out the actual date was a day earlier or later, the documents in the probate file are not in error. The important thing to the establishment of the probate process is that the deceased is actually deceased.
We then get to the second document, which is an administration bond by Samuel W. Packard himself. Unlike the previous document, this one requires the posting of the whole page in and of itself. [2]
Tumblr media
The above document basically talks about Samuel Packard and the Maryland company, mentioned in the previous document, are bound to the state of Illinois for $4,000 dollars, which is typical language of bonds, even in other states like Missouri and within legal language going back to the 1730s in Massachusetts, into the 1820s, and within current legal language. According to the Third Pocket Edition of Black's Law Dictionary (page 78), there are five definitions of "bound": (1) "constrained by a contractual or other obligation"; (2) A court"constrained to follow a precedent"; (3) a boundary; (4) "a limitation or restriction on action"; (5) delineating a property boundary. For this document, Samuel W. Packard and the Maryland company are constrained and restricted to pay a "penal bond," a form of a surety bond (implied in the first document posted in this article) of $4,000 dollars to the state of Illinois if they do not administer Elizabeth's estate. Ms. Russell explains that in plain language, a surety bond requires an estate administrator to pay a judge as a court official if and only this administrator do not do their job. They they do their job, then "nobody has to pay a dime."
Hopefully this whole article shined a light on yet another part of the Packard family!

I’m not sure about your headphones, but if you find the treble to be “too much” there is an acoustic mod which can fix that!

The tracker is practically realtime with your head movements and I’ve actually forgotten I’m wearing headphones before! Ocean Way with tracking is amazing.įinally – regarding your headphones… I use Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro 250 Ohms. The webcam is easier and faster to set up although it has a slight lag. Have you tried Ocean Way with a webcam or the tracker? If you like Ocean Way I definitely recommend trying that! You don’t want Ocean Way to convert a headphone simulation into a “room”! So definitely put Sonarworks AFTER Ocean Way! Remember, Ocean Way is simulating a room based on the source frequencies and Sonarworks is simulating a headphone response. I recommend using Sonarworks AFTER Ocean Way. If you’re using Sonarworks be sure to turn off the headphone correction in Ocean Way. Never use both headphone corrections together, obviously. For various reasons there is no actual absolute “correct” in spite of Sonarworks’s marketing material, so it’s more about whichever you prefer and then getting familiar with that tonal balance. Two weeks ago today, we forced our way through the large group of tourists playing make-believe John, Paul, George and Ringo.Hello! I’m a big fan of NX Ocean Way and I have Sonarworks as well.Īs far as whether to use NX’s headphone correct or Sonarworks’s – that’s up to you as to which works best for your needs. Keeping our shoes on, we advanced onto the over Instagrammed zebra crossing and entered the revered Abbey Road studios. We were there to attend the release of Wave’s latest plug-in: Waves Abbey Road Studio 3. Studio 3 is often unfairly overlooked when compared to its big sibling Studio 2 – the room that captured the world’s imagination with The Beatles’ Abbey Road album. However, the team at Abbey Road believe Studio 3 to be the best control room on site and possibly the world. The Israeli company agreed, teamed up with Giles Martin and Alan Parsons and have now attempted to recreate the listening experience. Let’s not forget Studio 3 has substantial credits of its own. Illustrious names such as Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Amy Winehouse and Kanye West have recorded and mixed there. We sat behind the famous SSL 9000J console and ran several A/B tests between the room and the new Waves plug-in. The results were impressive, and most certainly a great deal of fun, however, we were left curious how practical it is for making music. This question is harder than you might imagine. The Abbey Road Studio 3 plug-in is a headphone only monitoring tool that processes audio from your DAW to recreate the listening position experience in the control room of Studio 3. The concept is designed to give the user three choices ‘near’, ‘mid’ and ‘far’ which are modelled on measurements taken with the three most frequently used monitors: a pair of ATC SCM25 ‘near’, B&W 800D speakers ‘mid’ and the Quested Q412 system ‘far’. It’s worth noting how incredible the sweet spot sounds in person. Studio 3 lived up to its reputation and its this position, the optimum mixing position of the engineer in the control room, that Waves have tried to capture as a monitoring tool for your DAW. They certainly had their work cut out and the result is impressive if a little perplexing. Unfortunately, Abbey Road Studio 3 won’t work as a monitoring reference from the back or outside the room. You can’t just walk around to check the mix from afar. It’s just the sweet spot position that has been replicated. The plug-in does come with a headtracker (just as the original Nx did) and when worn, if you move your head side to side, the listening experience will change to reflect the change in the monitor direction relative to your position.

The on-screen “head” (as seen in the below image) moves with the tracker and you can turn a full 360˚ should you wish. If you lose the tracker, you can also use the camera built into your computer. This is a pertinent question and Attack would almost always stop short of suggesting you need anything.
