Halloween is coming and I've already seen several LMK fics treating Halloween is a super big thing/treating it like we do in America.

It's not.

Neither is Christmas.

Please double-check with research.

#trick-or-treating is an American thing #Most other countries - including countries in Asia - just have costumes and decor in public places and candy is on sale #kids wear costumes and might have a party or a parade at school; young adults and teens wear costumes and go to parties #bars or karaoke bars might have a public party or some special deals #but that's roughly it

I don't think accidentally stumbling upon bram stoker's dracula playing at a halloween party when I was 5 & staying and watching it in secret had any effect on me at all (no one look at my blog lately)

#so liiiike we were at these family friends' house. they lived down the street and they were SO FUN and nice and wonderful #truly they were just great ppl. and the wife was SO into creative stuff and she would go ALL OUT for parties esp Halloween #all the adults would dress up and the house was elaborately decorated it was SO MUCH FUN!#and they had 3 boys around my ahe and the husband had a daughter from his 1st marriage and she was much older like a teen #and she abd her friends had rented the movie and they were told they could watch it on the condition that they ONLY watch it #in the master bedroom away from all the kids #welllll I had to go to the bathroom but the main bathroom was occupied but I knew I was alloeed to use the master bath #so I went into the room to go to the bathroom and walked in right in the beginning when vlad is impaling ppl and I was like #wait a minute what is THIS this is something I'm not supposed to see ooooohhhhh #so I peed and then pretended to leave & hid and watched the movie lmfao #all the adults were making margaritas lmao I was like hell yeah watching a big scary adult halloween movie!!!!!#erin explains it all #these typos all stay idk what to tell you man I don't have my glasses on and my nerve damage is still not great 🤷‍♀️

as kids who love horror and like theatre enough to repeated do that, brooke rodgers & zeke matthews getting to do that true combo event: i mean, trick-or-treat / becostumed halloween larping of course, but also putting together &/or putting on any event wherein there's Decorating an Environment to be hallowscary....making some form of haunted house walkthrough deal, manning your own trick-or-treat stop and making it into an Experience for anyone, throwing a halloween party that is Not a winetasting vibe Yes babadooks Absolutely going all-in on the Theme beyond just "idk have a costume Maybe"

#it's a Performance it's perchance building a Set and a bit of a Show #and it's just fun lol. i mean i've hardly gotten to do anything like that much at all #but as a [i too always loved horror and theatre] myself....always figured doing so would be a really great time #and hugely appreciated being someone on the other end of that kind of Experience. thanks for going ham halloween decorating...#from the end of the driveway to the porch lol #being a kid like knowing Of the supposed fate of All like ''idk you get married. have a career. have a house. have a family(tm)''#like uhhhhhhhhhhhhh sounds fake. and it was.#but re: the tall tale of home ownership destiny that got thee most thought like ooh there's Anything to that though #b/c you could decorate individual rooms with atmospheric as hell specific Themes. you could create a Halloween Experience lol.#you could have secret passages like clue....just the usual intended aspirations and visions i'm sure #goosebumps the musical #gtmpota #murder mystery parties....horror aficionado Adjacent & certainly theatrical

ty ty !! baking I've been doing almost as long as I can remember. we're a big baking family, especially on my mom's side, so I've just always done it. I can't cook for shit tho, most of my groceries are freezer aisle premade stuff lmao

cake decorating I've also done a few times growing up, but I started working as a cake decorator in 2017 I think? and I hadn't really seriously decorated a cake before then. I just had a background in art so when a decorator left our store they put me in to cover for a bit and they were like wait shit she's good at this. my nan was a cake decorator so my dad picked up a bit from her, and he decorated all our birthday cakes growing up so I picked up a bit from him. kind of a shame my nan died shortly before I started decorating. but yeah my mom and dad are like this one-two punch where one likes baking and the other likes making things look nice

#I remember as a kid dad decorating our cakes was so normal so I assumed everyone's parents did it #and then I started working here and I'm like wait some of these cakes we offer #are the exact same ones some kids had at their birthdays I went to lmao #specifically the little mermaid one I so vividly remember this one girl having #it also didn't occur to me before working here how many people buy their christmas cookies instead of bake them #I'd see christmas cookies at the store and be like of that's for bringing to class or office parties #and clearly the good cookies are at home for just your family to enjoy
