Colorful lights dotted the main streets of Konoha as a light dusting of snow gradually covered the village. Genin dotted the town, helping hang some of them along with decorative winter flowers and ornamental bells and bows. Young, wistful men and women scoured the shops for perfect gifts for the perfect someone for the upcoming Rinne Festival. Mothers and fathers fretted over their tiny children as they tried to escape their clutches to play in the snow, but not before they were well-covered in boots and scarves. Those tiny children weaved inexplicable hand signs that they brought to their lips, pretending the warm air coming from their lips was a fire-style jutsu.
And here Hyuuga Hanabi was, tapping her foot impatiently outside of the Hyuuga compound, wrapped from head to toe in the most ridiculous amount of winter-wear imaginable. Gone were her usual yellow and orange robes, replaced with thick snow pants, likely two or more sweaters and/or coats, knee high boots, and a long, blue scarf, wrapped thrice around her neck, concealing that impossibly long mane of brown hair. Like a cherry on top, a red beanie with an overly large puff ball. It was entirely too much for less than an inch of snow, but she had never been a cold weather girl.
She felt as ridiculous as she looked.
“Whoa, Hanabi-sensei, is that you?”
With a sigh, she drifted her eyes towards one of her little genin.
“Yes, it is indeed me, Wasabi.”
“I can’t even hear you,” she chuckled, peering up at her. Hanabi grasped at the edge of the scarf and pulled it from her mouth to reveal a frown. “Yeesh, you look grumpy.”
“If you must know, I am,” Hanabi turned her nose up, pulling the scarf back up. Wasabi perked an eyebrow.
“Is that Konohamaru-sensei’s scarf?”
Hanabi sucked in her cheeks, thankful for the cold that wouldn’t allow a blush to appear so noticeably. She eyed her student carefully before responding “does it matter?”
“Oooh~” Wasabi cackled, coming in close on her tip-toes to get right in her sensei’s face, “now you’re keeping his scarf?! What next?! He’ll get a set of your classic robes? Exchange rings and wedding vows? Aw, I can already see it—”
“I think that’s enough,” Hanabi huffed, pushing her gloved finger against Wasabi’s forehead to push her back down, “aren’t you supposed to be helping with the decorations, Wasabi?”
“I finished!” Wasabi declared proudly, fists on her hips. Her proud grin turned into a mischievous smile as she peered back up at Hanabi “want me to find Kono~sensei for you?”
Hanabi willed her lower eyelid not to twitch. “No, I’d like you to help Namida finish up, actually.”
“Aw,” Wasabi slumped forward, frowning.
Hanabi squinted at her as she began trekking away dramatically before calling “and grab a jacket! It’s freezing!”
“Doesn’t bother me!” Wasabi called behind her, perking up, “some of us like the cold! Like Kono—” her eyes widened and she broke into a run as Hanabi’s eyes turned veiny.
“Brats…all of them…” Hanabi muttered, shifting, but couldn’t contain a little smile behind the scarf. “Cute brats, I suppose.” Then she dipped into another frown. “Brats all the same.” She sighed, glancing side to side before pulling up her sleeve to check her watch. “Kono, you’re the brat…if you’re not here in the next five minutes…”
As she waited and nodded politely at fellow Hyuuga entering and exiting the compound, she decided enough was enough and began her trek to her sisters.
No, Hanabi had never been a fan of the cold. She was a spring child, born just as the air warmed up and the foliage began growing back in. Tolerate it as she may, she would have much preferred to be inside with a hot cup of tea—or preferably hot chocolate during this time of year, wrapped in blankets and waiting out the frigid temperatures. But today, Konohamaru invited her out because he was an enthusiast when it came to snow, so here she was. Even if she’d rather be in bed.
Upon arriving in front of her sister’s home, she took in the scene. Hinata had always loved decorating—her room at Kurenai’s was proof of that. While she didn’t have much sway over what the compound looked like, she had always taken great pride in her little room there. Now that she had her own home and a daughter who also had an eye for design, she fully embraced decorating for every holiday. Hanabi let a smile tug at her lips. The lights, the flowers, the little statues and welcome mat. It was so delightfully homey, Hanabi had to admit she found far more comfort in her sisters home than her own.
She marched up the steps and knocked on the door. After a moment, her young niece greeted her with a bright smile. “Big sister!”
“Hima,” she offered a warm smile back, embracing the girl as she clutched around her hips. “Mama and papa home?”
“Just mama,” Himawari spoke cheerfully, though Hanabi frowned. “We’re making cookies! Come on, there’s a bunch of cookie dough!”
“Oh, I’m okay,” Hanabi giggled, following behind her niece and pulling the door shut. She breathed a sigh of relief at the warmth encasing her body from the fireplace and chose to shed a few layers of clothing, draping them over the back of the sofa.
“Hello Hanabi!” Hinata called from the kitchen as Himawari anxiously tugged her towards it. Hanabi was greeted with the smell of fresh-baked cookies, making her salivate as her eye landed on the cookie dough. She turned her head away to face her sister, who was shutting the oven door.
“Elder sister,” she greeted warmly, embracing her. She glanced around, finally noticing that there were what looked like hundreds of cookies all over the kitchen. “Whoa! Enough for one family?!”
“Oh,” Hinata giggled, releasing her as she stepped back, wide eyed. “Himawari insisted on gifting some to everyone in town. I told her it was a lofty goal…”
“But look!” Himawari chirped, gesturing, “we have a least a thousand, I think!”
“But…there’s at least a thousand people in the village right now…” Hanabi frowned, darting her eyes around. She noted at least a few dozen wrapped in plastic bags, ready to be delivered. Hinata pressed her finger to her lips to silence her and Hanabi nodded. “Why didn’t you come to the compound? We have dozens of ovens you could have used…”
“I didn’t want to bother you all,” Hinata waved her hand, “besides, I’m more worried about delivering all of them.”
Hanabi pondered briefly, tilting her head. She thought of Wasabi and perked up. “How about I get my genin over here to help out?”
“Your genin?” Hinata questioned, “oh no, I don’t want to distract them.”
“Pfft,” Hanabi shook her head, “those girls aren’t doing anything important anyway. I’ll be back.”
“Yay!” she heard Himawari’s little voice squeak behind her as she hurriedly pulled her winter gear back on, “big sister always knows what to do!”
Hanabi threw the door of her sisters home open, facing the frigid cold once more, but this time with a goal in mind: find her genin and deliver thousands of cookies to the people of the Leaf, courtesy of her dear niece.

Konohamaru had been to twenty different shops in the last hour, and not a single one had chocolate.
“Chocolate’s scarce this year, Konohamaru. Konoha didn’t get a shipment in last month, so I’m not sure anyone has any that aren’t the little candies. Sorry, kid, but I don’t know what to tell you.”
“Ah, that’s alright, Tadao.” Konohamaru slumped forward, head hung in shame. “Thanks for checking for me.”
Konohamaru left the shop, then stopped just outside, darting his eyes back and forth.
For as long as he’d known her, Hanabi only drank hot chocolate when it snowed. And for the last several years, he made it his mission to be the one who brought her that hot chocolate as soon as snowfall touched down. If nothing else, he’d make sure she had a cup of hot chocolate in her hands once a year, courtesy of his efforts. But this year was proving far more difficult than the past.
First, he tried to find someone selling hot chocolate outright. No one was, which was strange, but he figured it might be better if he just made it himself anyway, so he went to the shop to pick up some of those hot chocolate packets. Sure, it might be a little lazy, but he’d replace the hot water with hot milk and pick up whip cream and chocolate syrup and voila—not quite as good as a café’s, but better than a packet! Alas, those seemed to be out of stock, too. He resigned himself to looking for the chocolate itself, and was finally met with the realization that he had spent three hours on this endeavor.
He knew he was late to the time he had promised to meet her at, but he was a man with a goal, and he couldn’t face her without completing said goal.
“Psst.”
Konohamaru perked an eyebrow, glancing around for the source of the noise. He spotted a blond tuft of hair around the corner and rolled his eyes. Slowly, he shuffled towards the disturbance.
“Heard your lookin’ for chocolate.”
“Yes, Boruto, I am.”
“For a special someone?” Konohamaru circled the corner to get a look at Boruto, who was wiggling his eyebrows.
“Pretty special,” he nodded, folding his arms as he looked down on the boy expectantly.
“I might know where you can get some.” Boruto’s mischievous smile was never a good indication of anything.
“Shouldn’t you be helping with decorating?” Konohamaru raised an eyebrow and Boruto’s smile dipped to a taut frown.
“Jeeze, big bro, thought you’d appreciate the help,” he raised his hands in mock defeat, turning on his heel, “but I guess you’re right, I better go…”
Konohamaru clicked his tongue, squinting at the boy as his incredibly slow footsteps dragged him away. With a sigh, he called him back, “alright, I’ll bite. Where is this secret supply, then?”
Boruto looked over his shoulder, that silly impish smile returning. “I might know…for a price.”
“Bribery?” Konohamaru scoffed, lowering his eyes, “really?”
Boruto shrugged. “You don’t have to give me anything, just like I don’t have to give you anything.”
“Way to get into the holiday spirit, Boruto,” Konohamaru rolled his eyes, fishing into a satchel to pull out his coin pouch, “fine, you little brat,” he held out a handful of currency to Boruto’s starry-eyed expression, quickly snatching it out his hand.
“Aunt Temari had a stash she brought back from the Sand two weeks ago,” he concluded with a head nod.
“Temari?” Konohamaru rubbed the back of his neck nervously, shifting on his feet.
“Good luck!” Boruto swiftly took off.
Before he could get too far, Konohamaru called for him, “I’ll be checking on you guys in a few hours!”
With a sigh, Konohamaru turned the opposite way, looking towards the Nara forest. “Just had to be Temari…” He pulled his sleeve up to check his watch and frowned. He was incredibly late at this point, and now was regretting not telling Boruto to let Hanabi know he’d be late. But this plan was already in motion, and he wasn’t about to back out now. He set out towards Temari and Shikamaru’s home.
“Hey Konohamaru,” Shikamaru’s languid greeting welcomed him inside the home without question and Konohamaru nodded his thanks. “What brings you?”
“Uh—is Temari in?” he asked, sheepishly to the Nara’s mildly curious expression. He ushered him towards the living room while shaking his head. “Well, it’s kind of funny, really. I’ve been running around the whole village trying to find chocolate—”
“Good luck with that,” Shikamaru interrupted with a snort, hands on his hips, “haven’t had a shipment in weeks.”
“I know that,” Konohamaru breathed, glancing around nervously, “but, well—Boruto mentioned that Temari…might have some, from the Sand.”
“Huh,” Shikamaru smirked, folding his arms with a head tilt, “sneaky kid. What’s the chocolate for?”
Konohamaru hesitated, biting the inside of his cheek. “A gift.”
“Aha.” It was unsettling the way the man could seem to look right through him. “For a certain Hyuuga who despises the cold, I’m sure.” Konohamaru shrunk away, rubbing the back of his neck. “Can’t say I disagree with her, though. It’s why I’m not out there. Anyway, I guess you’re in luck. Since Temari’s out, we may be able to sneak a few squares.”
“Really?” Konohamaru asked hopefully as Shikamaru led him down a hallway. They stopped in front of a dresser, which he pulled open to reveal a small chest-style box.
Shikamaru chuckled as he hovered his hand over it, a small pulse of chakra emitting from his palm. “She thinks she’s clever with that sealing tag,” he smirked, pulling open the lid. Konohamaru watched curiously as Shikamaru seemed to take stock of it. “Alright, I think we can get away with three squares here. I’ll just break these in half, rearrange…yeah. She’ll be none the wiser.”
“Wow,” Konohamaru exhaled, accepting the offered squares in parchment, “thanks for that, man. Feeling in the holiday spirit, I guess?”
“Something like that,” he shrugged as he resealed the box, carefully pushing the dresser closed, “don’t expect it all the time.”
“Never.” Konohamaru shook his head before bowing. Just as they reentered the living room for Shikamaru to see him off, the front door opened to reveal Temari herself and Konohamaru froze. Quickly, he tucked the package into his breast pocket and snaked his hands behind his back. Shikamaru elbowed him roughly, a clear signal to relax.
“Hey hun,” Shikamaru approached her with ease, and she darted her eyes at Konohamaru.
“Konohamaru,” she nodded, raising an eyebrow, “a pleasure.”
“All mine!” Konohamaru quickly stepped in, bowing towards her as she eyed him suspiciously.
“I’d love to stay and chat,” she continued, pulling her coat off, gaze not leaving his, “but I am in desperate need of a shower.”
“Enjoy.” Shikamaru waved at her as she disappeared into their shared room, and Konohamaru exhaled a sigh of relief. Shikamaru blinked his lazy eyes at him, frowning. “You’re tense.”
“I better get going,” Konohamaru finished, patting his breast pocket. “Thanks again, Shikamaru.”
Before he could turn, his eyes blew wide at the sight of Temari appearing behind Shikamaru, chin resting on his shoulder. Just as she did, Shikamaru’s eyes went dark, visibly swallowing a lump in his throat. Temari’s voice was uncharacteristically soft and sweet as she spoke, “did someone think they could get away with dipping into my stash?”
Shikamaru’s lips parted briefly as Konohamaru dared to take a step back, one hand covering his breast pocket protectively. In a bare whisper, Shikamaru warned him, “run.”
Not having to be told twice, Konohamaru was out the door and halfway across the main part of the village within seconds. He checked over his shoulder as he stopped to catch his breath, relieved to not find her behind him. He cursed quietly as he pulled the parchment out of his pocket, unwrapping it to find the edges of the squares softening from his body heat melting it. He held it up towards the falling snow, hoping it would firm it back up before he continued his journey.
With the parchment held above his head, his gaze was fixed on the sky, and just as he began walking again, a smaller figure tumbled right into him.
“HEY! Watch where you’re—oh—Konohamaru-sensei.” He clutched the parchment to his chest protectively as he looked down to find three familiar genin, Wasabi being the one who collided into him.
“Where are you three rushing off to?” he asked inquisitively. They were Hanabi’s team after all, he had to wonder if it had anything to do with her.
“You don’t know?” Namida asked back, tilting her head. Konohamaru lowered his eyes.
“We’re going to help Hanabi-sensei and her niece make and deliver cookies.” Sumire cleared it up for him, hands clasping behind her back.
“Yeah, a really important mission,” Wasabi rolled her eyes, shaking her head. “But whatever, I’m excited to see that little cutie again.”
“Cookies?” Konohamaru raised his eyebrows, thoroughly confused.
“Yeah!” Namida beamed up at him. “Himawari wants to make cookies for everyone in the village, isn’t that so adorable?! Hanabi-sensei asked us to help!”
“Huh,” Konohamaru cupped his chin before snapping his fingers, “right! One of you go tell team 7 to go help, too.”
“Tch,” Wasabi turned her nose up at him, “you’re not our captain.”
He watched helplessly as she took off before looking down at the other two. He tried to justify, “but I have to—”
“Sorry, Konohamaru-sensei, she’s right,” Sumire shook her head, trailing behind. His eyes landed on Namida, begging eyes.
“I—sorry—” Namida’s face turned red as she turned away and caught up with her teammates. He huffed under his breath as he tucked the parchment back into his pocket. He was already late enough as it was, he might as well try to make up for it in some way by putting his team on the task as well. He took off to seek out his genin.
-
Hanabi watched with a far larger than normal smile as her genin crowded around Himawari.
“Oh my goodness you are just so sweet!”
“That little peak of hair on top of your head is adorable!”
“Her little whiskers are so, so cute! I can’t stand it!”
Himawari’s infectious giggles rung through the living room as the girls relentlessly praised her, Hinata laughing behind her.
“She’ll get a big head if you bring them over too often,” Hinata commented playfully, stepping next to her.
“They’re not wrong, are they?” Hanabi beamed down at her sister.
“Stop it, stop it!” Himawari called unsuccessfully as she was passed around, just as the front door of the Uzumaki home slammed opened.
“Never fear!” Boruto called victoriously as he marched inside, “big bro here to save the day!”
“Oh please…” Sarada sighed as she followed behind him, then Mitsuki, and finally Konohamaru.
Her eyes lowered at him and she watched as he visibly recoiled from her stare. He gave a feeble wave, “hey guys.” He settled next to her, and she cast her unrelenting glare up at him as he leaned down to lay a kiss on top of her head, though she was unamused. He smiled sheepishly down at her, reaching down to brush that stubborn strand of hair from her nose and it took everything she had not to grab the hand back and twist it for keeping her waiting so long. It also took just as much not to grab it back for the sole purpose of putting it back on her cheek to suck away his warmth, lest she give her dear genin more ammunition against her.
“Ah!” Hinata clasped her hands together, “you’re all really here to help?”
“Really, really?!” Himawari gasped with glee as the girls finally released her, facing the other team.
“Yep!” Sarada set her hands on her hips.
“Just tell us what to do, Himawari!”
The six genin stood side by side at attention as Himawari’s eyes blew wide and starry. She heaved a long breath before initiating her commands.
“Brother, Wasabi, and big brother Konohamaru—over here to mix the dough—” Konohamaru tried to interject weakly, but was interrupted. “Namida, Mitsuki, and big sis Hanabi, form the dough and stay in charge of the oven!” Hanabi opened her mouth in surprise, looking towards Hinata for confirmation. She shrugged. “Sarada, Sumire, and mama, pack away cookies and write the notes!”
Hanabi was blown away by the authoritative tone. “And what will you do, Hima?”
“Keep everyone in line, of course!” her bright tone returned, wide grin. “Is that understood?” When silence was returned, she tilted her head, her voice going a little lower as she repeated “understood?”
The six genin looked at one another for a brief moment before stepping forward with their fists raised. “UNDERSTOOD!”
Hanabi couldn’t help but feel amused as they spent the next several hours under Himawari’s command. Complaints were frequent.
“She doesn’t seem so cute anymore…”
“We’re really taking orders from my little sister?”
“She’ll make a great leader, one day…”
Hanabi dutifully kept an eye on the oven with Mitsuki and Namida shaping cookies, getting into a rhythm of having a tray coming out and going in every five minutes. While she stood next to it, she kept another eye on Konohamaru, smirking as he and Boruto got into a squabble about the best way to measure out ingredients for the dough. Her poor student, Wasabi, having to stand in between them with a look that was quickly turning from exasperation to frustration. Soon it would be full blown fury, so she decided it was time for her to step in.
She swiftly grabbed Boruto and Konohamaru by the necks of their collars, bringing them towards her as the veins around her eyes began to pop. Both immediately went quiet, eyes wide, as they individually clutched her wrists. “You don’t want to disappoint dear Hima, do you boys?”
“Uh—” Konohamaru gulped.
“N—no, sorry big sis—”
“Yeah, sorry.”
She released them, letting them stumble backwards. As they righted themselves, she patted the tops of their heads, though had to reach up quite a bit higher to reach Konohamaru’s, and smiled. “Good boys.”
Both of their cheeks went red as she stepped away, folding her arms. Himawari sidled up next to her, looking up at her with admiring eyes. “Big sis, you have to teach me that.”
“Oh, I will,” she smirked down at her niece, tapping her temple, “all Hyuuga must know how to intimidate and incapacitate.”
She saw Konohamaru look over his shoulder at her and didn’t miss the wink he offered her. Subconsciously, her bottom lip withdrew between her teeth as she felt heat creep up her neck, thankful for his dumb scarf covering the bottom half of her face. No matter how long they’d been together, he could still have her blushing for some reason. Probably that stupid boyish charm. Boyish charm she adored, but she’d never openly admit that to anyone…except, at times, to him. But only when he pushed her.
Then he stopped and stepped away, and she watched him remove his coat that he had apparently been too distracted to shed earlier. Underneath, she almost let out a howl of laughter at the sight of a green knit sweater, dotted with little cartoony images of a tanuki.
“Is that the One-Tail?!” Hanabi giggled, bringing all eyes to him. He glanced down at himself and shrugged.
“Hima picked it out,” Konohamaru responded, “you’re telling me you don’t like it?”
“I—” she caught her words as he rolled up each of his sleeves, revealing his toned forearms that her eyes immediately shot to. Something about the way he pulled them up slowly and did it right in front of her felt like he was intentionally catching her off guard, making her slip up. She always did admire his arms; she didn’t get to see them nearly enough. He was taking advantage of that.
Damn brat!
“Oh, she does,” Wasabi snickered, elbowing Boruto who groaned and rolled his eyes.
“Gross.”
“Shuk-aaa-ku is not gross!” Himawari stomped her foot, glaring up at her brother.
“Not Shukaku, Hima,” Boruto smirked, glancing over at Hanabi who instinctively tugged the scarf further up her face to conceal the blush threatening to overtake her whole face.
“Back to work,” she muttered.
“You, too, sister,” Hinata joined the tease to her annoyance, “you haven’t checked the oven in over 10 minutes.”
“Shoot!” Hanabi gasped, whirling around to yank it open. She cursed as she pulled out a batch of overly browned cookies.
“Hanabi-sensei? Flustered?” Wasabi called with amusement.
“Who would’ve thought?” Boruto added.
“Just a little distracted, right?” Konohamaru flashed her a grin over his shoulder as he got ‘back to work’, intentionally flexing so the veins in his forearms would be a bit more prominent.
She cursed under her breath, turning her eye to her niece. “Himawari, listen to me,” she crouched down, grasping her little shoulders as she tilted her head curiously. Hanabi lowered her eyes and spoke in a serious tone, “never put those three brats together again.”
-
“Time to deliver!” Himawari declared proudly as the last package of cookies was carefully wrapped and a note tied to it. She strapped a pack full of cookies to her back as Boruto crouched in front of her.
“C’mon, Hima,” Boruto beckoned her as she giggled, happily hopping onto his back. Konohamaru smiled down at the girl as she clutched around her brother’s neck. At first, he was shocked by her assertiveness earlier in the day, but it immediately turned to thorough amusement as she bossed around her older brother. Kid really was a softy for his sister, maybe he’d have to bring her to their next training session to get his ass in gear.
“Meet your father and I at Senju Park before dark!” Hinata called as they began trekking for the door. They called agreement as she turned to Hanabi and Konohamaru, “you two should join us.”
“Yeah,” Konohamaru wrapped an arm around Hanabi’s shoulders as she reluctantly gave into the hold. She may have still been a little antsy about public affection, but he had no such inhibitions. He took any opportunity he got to show off his pretty girlfriend. “Sounds nice.”
Hinata giggled as she spotted her sister’s blush, turning away. Konohamaru thoroughly enjoyed it. Hanabi cleared her throat, “you all are dismissed after you’re done.”
“Hanabi-sensei!” the three girls bowed to her before bolting out of the house with their bags of packaged cookies.
“You two go on as well. Thanks guys,” Konohamaru waved away Sarada and Mitsuki as they took off.
“I better get this cleaned up,” Hinata turned back to the wreck of a kitchen, folding her arms.
Konohamaru cleared his throat now, releasing Hanabi’s shoulders, “why don’t you let us? Maybe you can go take some cookies to Lord Seventh?”
“Oh?” Hinata tilted her head just as Hanabi looked up at him in surprise. “Are you alright with that, Hanabi?”
“I mean—” Hanabi glanced between the two. “Yes?”
“Well alright,” Hinata smiled warmly, leaning in to embrace the two, “I appreciate it. Remember to lock up before you leave.”
“No problem!” Konohamaru waved her off as she collected a pack of cookies and dressed in her winter wear, waving back as she exited the home. As the door clicked shut, he glanced at Hanabi with a smile that quickly dipped to a grimace. Her eyes were normally a soft, lavender shimmering under the light, but right now, they were downright fiery. He was fortunately, and unfortunately, fairly familiar with both versions. Immediately, he held his hands up in defense.
“You BRAT!”
“Hey—”
“You left me waiting for hours! Hours Konohamaru! I looked like a fool standing there—”
“You stood there for hours?!”
“Well—no! I waited about ten minutes before I came here, but—”
“So you’re exaggerating.”
“You were late by hours!”
“I’m sorry.” He stepped forward, bringing his hands around her cheeks to soothe her furious stance. It worked, and she softened immediately, her angry expression turning to a simple pout. The years told him exactly how to calm her down. He leaned forward to press a kiss on her forehead, eliciting a quiet sigh. He trailed his kisses down from her forehead, over the bridge and point of her nose, then gently pulled his own scarf down from her lips so he could slot his against them and he felt her definitively give in when her arms wrapped around his waist.
She was puddy in his grip and he would always get a smug sense of satisfaction from it. But now wasn’t the time to tease, so instead he wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her in close, deepening the kiss as she willingly parted her lips for him. One hand wandered up to run through the soft locks of her hair that were thankfully tamed by his scarf today—they had the tendency to tangle them together if unchecked. As his tongue grazed past her lips against her tongue, he nearly let a chuckle slip at the sweet taste of sugar in her mouth—she had definitely been sneaking cookie dough during their ‘mission’.
She pulled away from him, that pouty glare still on her features that made him smirk. “Enough.”
“Can’t help it,” he whispered softly as he leaned in again, kissing the corner of her lips, “you taste like cookies.”
“Pfft,” she pushed her hand into his face and he chuckled, grabbing at the wrist of the hand to stop it. “Idiot…”
“For you,” he continued, fully enjoying the way every inch of her skin went red. She rolled her eyes and he finally eased off, choosing to place one last kiss on the top of her head before letting her go. “C’mon, we got work to do.”
“You mean you have work to do,” she folded her arms, lowering her eyes at him, “you volunteered.”
“Aww,” he whined mockingly, gathering bowls and utensils, “you’re gonna make me do it by myself? Guess I’ll be here all night…”
With a little sigh, she approached him and pitched her pointer finger at the tip of his nose. “Where were you?” she questioned, snatching her finger back just as he leaned in to bite at it. She knew him too well. He smirked, tongue running over his top teeth.
“A crucial mission,” he replied with a simple shrug, dumping the dishware into the sink.
“Just so suddenly, right in the middle of the day?” she doubted, eyeing him suspiciously.
“Yeah, it was very important,” he nodded, turning the sink on to begin rinsing the dishes. “Had to seek out a rare item, took me all over the village.”
“That right?” she asked, adding dishes to his pile, evidently giving in to helping him after all.
“Mhm, went everywhere. It was only when a confidential source provided me with information that led me to its whereabouts.”
“Oho,” she commented loftily, gathering flour and sugar to put back into their respective places, “sounds top secret.”
“Sure was,” he smirked. He did love the way he could get her to play into his little games. His heart fluttered just slightly as he felt her arms slide around his torso from behind, her cheek pressing into his upper arm to watch him. He glanced down to find her hands trail up his chest and rest on his shoulders.
“Well go on, you should reveal what it was to the girl you kept waiting.”
To this, he turned off the sink and wiped his hands on a towel, then turned in her arms to pull her towards him, arms snaking around her waist. He leaned in close, brushing his lips up against hers teasingly as she laced her fingers around his neck. He smirked against her lips as she pushed in closer, trying to connect, and instead pulled away. “Patience, princess.”
“Jerk!” she gasped, pushing off of him. “After all that, you tease me!”
He laughed and grabbed her back, realizing he was going a touch too far, and yanked her into him. She huffed irritably and he grinned down at her, pulling a hand around her cheek. “You look so cute in my scarf, you know that?”
“Hush, you,” she glared at him and he wondered if she knew that he actually thought her attempt at intimidation was adorable.
Then, he slipped away from her and went towards the dining room to her confused expression, “hold on.”
“What is it?” she questioned, following after him. He grabbed a thermos he had discretely set aside when he got there and presented it to her proudly. She eyed it suspiciously as he undid the lid, letting the smell of milk chocolate waft towards her. She gasped, greedily grabbing the thermos out of his hands and pulling it right up to her nose. “Hot chocolate?! How?! There hasn’t been—”
“A very important mission,” he interrupted her with a grin, admiring the way her expression turned from irritation to full-blown cheerfulness, her eyes brightening and smile lines forming as she inhaled deeply. His grin turned to a soft smile as she brought the thermos to her lips, sipping once before a satisfied sigh left her lips. Then, unsurprisingly, she began greedily gulping down the beverage and he had to laugh.
“Oh—shoot!” she gasped before she could devour the rest of it, pulling it from her lips, “here, you should have some!”
“No no,” he laughed, pushing it back towards her to her inquisitive expression. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her in, laying a kiss on top of her head, “it’s all for you, cutie.”
“Hmmm…” she hummed, accepting this immediately to bring it back to her lips. He snickered. He really did like watching her enjoy herself, especially if it was something he made happen. She pulled the thermos from her mouth and looked up at him, that familiar warm smile that made his stomach flutter just for her. “Thank you, Kono.”
He pulled her in for a kiss, savoring the way the chocolate tasted against her tongue, and hummed in satisfaction. “Anything for you, Hanabi.”

Hey days! I love all of your fics they r super good! N your recs r incredible too , i find that our tastes r almost similar 😁 ..i wanted to ask if u know some konohamaru+hanabi along with naruhina fics?
Thanks a lot♥️
:D Thank you for reading my fics, I'm glad you like them!! And I'm glad you like the recommendations!!
I think maybe the closest in taste/style for writing, reading, and headcanons miiiight be peppercorn or Imanga/badluckbrebis but that's just my impression, I haven't really talked about that with them. Bunnyhoodlum and I agree on a lot of stuff, but our writing expression feels different. Anyway,,
NaruHina + KonoHana
"Say Uncle" by Giada Luna - Rated G, Canon-Compatible, One-shot. Himawari has a talk with Aunt Hanabi about brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles.
"Kindled" by @waterrolls - Rated T, Canon-Compatible, One-shot. Sparks fly between Konohamaru and Hanabi when they are assigned a mission together.
“Serenity Prayer” by @katarinahime - Rated E for domestic abuse, substance abuse, and smut, Modern AU, Multi-chapter, Ongoing.  In the midst of picking themselves up from failed marriages, Hinata and Naruto cross paths years after losing touch with each other.
“secret lovers” by @quirrrky - Rated T, Canon-Compliant, Series of related one-shots. After the Fourth Shinobi War, Naruto was gradually falling in love with Hinata and the whole village of Konoha knew it…Well, aside from him. (Chapter 21 "red herring" has Konohamaru & Hanabi interaction).
“Born of Fire” by @mmmbuttery - Rated M, Firefighter AU, Multi-chapter, Incomplete. As a firefighter, Naruto knows how to keep his cool in any situation. So how’s the cute new cook making him hot under the collar?
"Naruto: Hyuuga Love" by CelticWolf55 - Rated M/E, Canon-Divergent AU, Multi-chapter, Incomplete. Naruto and Hinata aren't a 'couple' but are still intimate with each other behind closed doors. And one night, shadowed by a tree near the Hyuuga compound, a younger Hyuuga catches a glimpse of her older sister in a precarious position with a certain hair-brained blond ninja. (If you can't handle any sort of depiction of NaruSaku, then skip this one.)
I almost forgot that I wrote one that hints at KonoHana.
“Catskin” - Rated M, Fairy Tale AU, Multi-chapter, Incomplete. She’s a nameless girl. Strange in dress, appearance, and accent in a foreign kingdom. She stowed away on a merchant ship, running from a certain future much worse than just losing her name.
If anyone knows more, feel free to add on!

Also which konohana fanfic did you read? 😬💖
It's called Tag
I linked the fanfic if you guys want to read! Honestly, it really made me fall in with them even more. It was just a mild guilty ship when I first saw them on screen together but now its BLOSSOMING AND I WANT THIS SHIP TO SAIL SO HARD

Oh nice. You too? xD
Yesss, I love KonoHana. One of the few non-canon ships I like. Basically the Boruto episode where they got hammered together and gushed over how much they love their nephew/little bro was awesome.
It warms my heart on cold days, how Hanabi thinks that Boruto is such a good kid and the thought of of him getting into trouble fills her with dread. And how secretly, Konohamaru is really happy when Boruto calls him "nii-chan."
It used to be such a crack ship, Naruto's metaphorical little bro with Hinata's little sis, but Boruto gave this pairing so much ammo.
Maybe someone should write a fanfic where Hanabi finds out about Boruto being in danger of becoming Borushiki and how much she's filled with dread. And talking to Konohamaru about it, who is likewise filled with dread.
Maybe...I should write it? Maybe.

Curious question: Do you ship any of the next gen babies?
Hello! Not yet lol I know that eventually I will but for now there aren’t really any that I’m super invested in. I’m familiar with most of the popular ones that are out there but haven’t gotten into them. (Also I’m like low key protective of my InoShikaCho babies that whoever they end up with NEEDS to be amazing hahaha)
The only “next gen” couple that I’ve become interested in is Konohamaru/Hanabi bc of that one specific episode where they were drunk and talking about Boruto. I love the idea that Konohamaru ends up actually becoming related to Naruto as his brother in law. There’s so not enough content of them though :(
Thanks for the ask Beautiful!! 😘

Hi! I was wondering if you know any KonoHana fanfic blogs? Thank you :)
Unfortunately I don't know any blogs (if you're a Konohana blog, PLEASE interact with this so I can find you!!) However, I looove Juupitrie's /@pepperonchino depiction of KonoHana This fic made me ship it: Baby Fever by Juupitrie Hanabi catches a terrible sickness she has sworn to her father she would never catch… It's a sickness that can take hold of even the strongest shinobi warrior. What will she do when the only permanent cure…is to get pregnant? HanaXKono NaruXHina
the other one I haven't read yet but it is at the top of my list:
Firework Festival by PepcornPress
Sarutobi Konohamaru said that his ninja-way is his lover.
But that’s only because the girls he tends to pine for… are nuts.

bonds beyond the brokenness
Ao3 Link | Full YOTP Series Found Here
Pairing: Hanabi Hyūga/Konohamaru Sarutobi
Summary: Hanabi visits Konohamaru in the hospital.
September prompt: Hurt/Comfort
Word Count: 1.5k
Rating: T
Tumblr media
Word of Konohamaru being beaten to a bloody pulp only makes its way to Hanabi through long-distance osmosis. She’s passed out with her head on Hinata’s hospital bed, snoring away with a hand clutched on the sheets where her sister's hand rests, when the news hits her ears. But she doesn’t realize it immediately, she just dreams about it. It’s strange, like all dreams are, with Konohamaru talking a big game like he usually does and subsequently being thrown around like a ragdoll. Flashes of the mysterious figure that sent her own sister into the ground appear in her mind, and that same figure is killing Konohamaru.

Prettiest Girl in the World
Ao3 | FFN
Full YOTP Series Found Here
Pairing: Hanabi Hyūga/Konohamaru Sarutobi
Summary: During a time of relative peace, missions were becoming more and more focused on criminals and illegal activity. Konohamaru and Hanabi are assigned a mission to scout out an illegal gambling ring.
January Prompt: Fake Dating
Word Count: 2.7k
Rating: Mature
I’m completing this prompt list for KonoHana! This will be a series of oneshots, one for every month, ending at 12 chapters. Each chapter will have a prompt from the corresponding month, and they will not line up with one another and will likely contradict each other. Each chapter is meant to be a stand alone story and the length will vary. 😊 I hope you enjoy!
~
“Sarutobi.”
“Hyūga.”
Hanabi tapped her foot impatiently as she waited for Konohamaru to knot his tie and eventually let out a sigh of frustration. She marched up to him and began wrapping it for him.
“Hey!” He stepped back, but she simply stepped forward.
“You’re too slow,” she mumbled, swiftly pulling it tight…maybe a little too tight, as his hands reached up to grab hers. “Hands off!”
“You’re gonna choke me!” he snapped, pushing her hands away.
“Not going to thank me?” she raised an eyebrow, squinting at him.
“For trying to kill me?” he lowered his eyes, loosening the knot. “Thank you, Hanabi, for trying to kill me right before our mission. It’s always a pleasure I look forward to.”
“I know you do,” she nodded, turning on her heel, “I’m irresistible.”
“Who ever made you believe that?”
“Shut up.”
“Gladly.”
Hanabi and Konohamaru weren’t really on…the best of terms, right now.
They’d had a falling out a few months ago, right around Hanabi’s 20th birthday party, when he ‘accidentally’ pulled her shirt down in front of all their friends. She refused to believe it was an accident, but he insisted he had too much to drink and tripped.
It really was an accident.
But Hanabi refused to speak to him after it. Thankfully, her chest had been bandaged, so Udon didn’t completely lose all the blood out of his nose. Moegi had immediately shielded her and proceeded to knock Konohamaru out cold.
Hanabi regularly denied missions with him, but Kakashi had insisted on the two completing this one together, because he had no other young kunoichi available at the time. Konohamaru didn’t really mind, anyway. She could be petty if she wanted to, all he cared about was doing his job.
Though, the image of Hanabi topless would be stamped in his brain for the rest of his life. It was hard not to think of it when they were near each other.
“Let’s go, we don’t have all night,” she beckoned him, and he nodded, sliding the last of his kunai into the side of his shoe. As he followed her out of the door, she glared at him over her shoulder and he glared back. “Don’t get too comfortable.”
“I’d hate to,” he responded, tilting his head.
As they made their way onto the casino floor, Hanabi hooked her arm around Konohamaru’s and he looked down in surprise at her. She smiled sweetly up at him, so convincingly warm. “Play your part, my dear fiancé.”
“Right,” he nodded, inhaling a shaky breath. He glanced down and felt his cheeks immediately heat up at the sight of her cleavage. It was a strappy dress, something she’d never normally wear and it left very little to the imagination. Not that Konohamaru minded.
He was a shinobi. He could keep his head clear. Even with a high-heeled, fully grown Hanabi Hyūga around his arm. Chest pressed up against his upper arm. The click of her heels on the tile. The scent of strawberries coming off of her. Lips shiny with red gloss. Hair pinned up to reveal tiny ears and a smooth neck.
He was a shinobi. She didn’t throw him off at all.
She seemed to hate him, anyway. But she was convincing.
If there was one thing Hanabi was, it was a talented actress. Years and years of interacting with politicians, feudal lords, Kage’s, clan leaders. All of it had made her effortlessly believable in everything she did. Konohamaru recalled listening to some feudal lord’s son rant and rave in his ear about how she was ‘totally into him’ and the boy was sure he might propose to her on the spot. Later, she was throwing scathing remark after scathing remark about the boy when she was safely away from him with Konohamaru and their friends.
Yes, Hanabi was perfect for this mission.
Konohamaru hoped he would be, too.
“Ooooh!” He shot his eye down at her when that bubbly sound popped out of her. She pointed at a table, their mark for the mission. “Baby, play at that one!”
“That one?” he asked, smirking down at her. She looked up at him with beautiful, bright eyes and he felt his heart skip.
Shit.
“Yes! Look at all the chips!” Her voice was so high pitched like this, so sweet. “You can win, I know it,” she tugged him towards the table as the men seating around it looked up with expectant brows, “my sweet fiancé never loses.”
“That right?” a man asked, tilting his head from her to Konohamaru. He shrugged, taking the last open seat. He pulled a pouch from his pocket and made a show of dropping it at the table so everyone could really hear its heft.
It was a healthy amount given to them by Kakashi for the sole purpose of this mission.
“High-roller, huh?” another asked, eyes unashamedly locked on Hanabi’s cleavage.
He wrapped his arm around Hanabi’s waist and pulled her in tight, not just for the show, but also to block her chest from the man’s sight.
They may not be friendly, but he still respected her, even if she didn’t him.
“Ooh!” she giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck. He felt his breath catch. She beamed up at the men, “he’s also very possessive.”
Konohamaru pushed the sack of money forward. “Alright, deal me in.”
-
Hanabi clapping, wiggling and squealing next to him was entertaining.
But gods, she was a sight to see right now. He couldn’t wait to go back and brag to Udon that he had her practically drooling all over her for an entire night.
Another round won and she was fawning over him. Honestly, it felt good, even if it was fake.
“I’ll make sure to buy you something pretty,” he grasped her chin as those lavender eyes grew a centimeter. Then he leaned in and kissed the corner of her lips and her eyes almost faltered. But she fell back into the role naturally and returned the kiss, grasping his wrist.
When they pulled away, she bit her lip and breathed, “promise?”
“Anything you want,” he whispered back and almost smirked at the red he could barely tell was there on her ears. She was also good at controlling a blush, but he knew how to force one out of her. “Anything for the prettiest girl in the world.”
“Oh, stop it!” she giggled, playfully hitting his arm as he readjusted into his seat.
“Yes, please do,” a man muttered bitterly, his stack of money shrinking by the minute.
He felt her wrap her arms around his shoulders from behind and her lips pressing against his ear, and—
Damn, is she trying to make this hard on me? This is so distracting.
“Don’t stop until you have all their money, baby,” she whispered, pressing a kiss against the tip of his ear. He reached up to cradle one of her wrists in his hand and continued on.
-
Hanabi wanted to be dead.
Worse than dead. She wanted to stop existing.
This was humiliating.
But she was getting some enjoyment out of making Konohamaru nearly falter. If she was going to be treated like an airhead, she’d gladly play the part. Even if it might be a little dangerous to their mission.
“Another win,” she whispered sweetly into his ear, running her hands from his shoulders to his chest. She felt him flinch at her touch and kept moving her hands downward, repressing a smirk as he grabbed her hands before they could reach his lap.
“I know my baby is impatient,” the words sounded downright ridiculous out of the Third’s grandson, “but don’t worry.” She tilted her head as he turned in his seat to face her directly. He slid his hand into her hair, gripping the back of her head as he brought her in close. Then, words that set her on fire.
“I’ll take care of you tonight.”
She gritted her teeth, forcing the smile to remain. Her thighs instinctively rubbed together.
“You know what it does to me when you talk like that,” she whispered, lowering her eyelids to create that lusty look.
“Take a breather, honey,” he pulled her towards him and planted a kiss on her forehead before releasing her. “Go get yourself a drink.”
Hanabi licked her lips, looking him up and down. Then she had a funny thought. “Yes baby. I’ll bring you back your favorite whiskey, too.”
Her smile grew as the corners of his lips tugged downward.
Konohamaru hated whiskey.
He schooled his expression.
“So sweet,” he winked at her, and just as she turned to leave, she felt his palm swat her on the butt and had to control the instinctive urge to close all of his chakra points.
-
Konohamaru was screwed when Hanabi plopped into his lap and started kissing his neck.
“Gods are you two always like this?” one of the men spat, looking annoyed. Konohamaru smirked as he rested his free hand on the dip of her waist.
“Watching me play gets her riled up,” he commented loftily as her kisses trailed up to his ear. He squeezed her waist to the point it might bruise when he felt her teeth bite down on his earlobe.
This couldn’t be an act.
It just couldn’t be.
“The man’s right, honey,” he tugged at her dress, pulling it down so it would cover more of her legs, “patience.”
Her whine in his ear sent heat straight between his legs. She was practically purring. “You just look so sexy when you’re powerful like this.”
He gritted his teeth, squeezed her waist harder.
“I’m getting pretty bored of this,” Konohamaru told the dealer, throwing down his cards, “thought the Mist was known for their high roller tables but this is just sad compared to the Cloud.”
Hanabi murmured agreement, wiggling in his lap, right up against… “I’m not having fun anymore.”
“Hear that?” he raised an eyebrow, “the lady isn’t happy. And if she’s not happy…”
“Well…”
Their in.
“You have cleaned these men out,” the dealer raised an eyebrow as the table began to clear. “Want something a little higher stakes?”
Hanabi rolled her eyes, shaking her head. “I don’t think you have anything high enough for my darling fiancé.” She reached into her bra, and pulled out a promissory note, laying it down. Konohamaru snickered, letting his eyes rest on her chest just a little longer.
He was playing a part, after all.
Hanabi squealed with ‘glee’ when the man offered to take them to a back room.
-
After giving a report to the local Mist police, Hanabi was so, incredibly conflicted.
Lustful visions of Konohamaru consumed her mind as they walked back up to the hotel.
The last hour he was teasing her. Intensely, to the point she felt real heat in her core. She never quite noticed how defined his jaw was until she could really see him without his scarf. He didn’t wear it much when they were younger teenagers, but as soon as he started growing into more of a man, he had started wearing it again. Now she wondered why he’d cover up that gorgeous face of his.
Gorgeous?
Hanabi could admit it. Konohamaru was attractive. She found him overbearing and his voice annoying when they were in the Academy. Whined when they were assigned missions together. Purposefully shoved him in a lake during one, one time. It was then that she realized he might not be that scrappy boy anymore when he climbed out of the lake and pinned her to the ground, forcing her to become soaked by his clothes. That was when they were around 16, and Hanabi first felt that punch of lust.
His voice had recently dropped, his teeth were pearly as he grinned down at her, his eyes were…beautiful. Such a deep blue. She could have sworn they were a boring, plain black when they were kids.
Then she swiftly closed the chakra point closest to his heart to teach him a lesson about trying to pin down the heiress of the Hyūga. He couldn’t be allowed to get away so easily, even if she was feeling some weird things.
Tonight, her lips had made contact with that Adam’s apple she had been eyeing for a long time. And it was just as glorious as she had dreamt about.
Now, they were back to normal. Normal Hanabi. Normal Konohamaru. Nothing romantic between then, just old friends who were a little too mean to one another sometimes. Sometimes babysat her niece and nephew together. Sometimes took them to festivals together. Sometimes stopped talking when one pissed the other off too much. Sometimes got too close for comfort around their friends. Sometimes ended up sleeping on top of each other.
Old friends.
“Maybe we should just start heading back now.”
She refused to meet his questioning stare.
“I don’t really feel like going back, yet.”
Hanabi sighed frustratedly.
“Well I do.”
“It’s late,” he pushed.
“Don’t be a baby!” she snapped, shoving her finger into his chest as they stopped to look at one another. “I want to go home, now.”
“Ah, too bad you’re not really my fiancée,” he smirked, grabbing the hand that poked him. “Maybe then I’d listen to you.”
“I’m your teammate, right now,” she huffed, trying to tug her hand away, but he held onto it.
“Something tells me,” he stepped forward, and she stepped back, “that wasn’t totally an act.”
“What the hell are you even saying?” she stepped back again, and he stepped forward.
He leaned in until they were eyelevel, and she realized her back was against the wall. “I think you do want me to take care of you.”
“Oh my gods,” her eyes went wide, “you’ve always been a damn pervert.”
“Yeah,” he chuckled, smirking and her eyes dipped to his lips, “I guess I have.”
-
He wasn’t quite sure what was coming over him, this blooming confidence that she only boosted with each comment.
But he was sure of one thing.
That lustful look never quite left her.
Hanabi was a good actress, but he could see right through her. Had been able to for a long time.
He could always see when she faltered. Udon and Moegi may have been naïve, but those eyes were always a dead giveaway to him. Whenever she caught him at the training grounds without his shirt and she stared for far too long, until he was snapping his fingers in her face. Teasing her, flirting with her, she always, without fail, blushed. She never blushed around anyone else, it was always just for him.
Sure, when they were kids kids, she wasn’t very remarkable. Looked like any other Hyūga, just happened to be the heiress. Then, when Naruto began bringing Hinata around more often and he got to see Hanabi, she was developing into a downright gorgeous woman. And he noticed what it did to him. Moegi had been his first crush, but Hanabi was the first person he ever fantasized about.
When he pinned her to the ground after she brutally pushed him into the lake, that look of lust in her eyes was entirely new, and it stirred something entirely new in him, too. Hanabi was many of the male (and some female) chūnin’s sexual awakening. He was lucky enough to be close to her via Naruto.
When he pinned her down, she closed a chakra point and it was so obviously a sign to him that she was shoving something inside of her down, too.
Tonight…
Tonight, was no different.
But he wanted it to be different, this time. So he decided it would be. He wouldn’t let her slip through his fingers so easily.
“I wouldn’t mind it,” he whispered, so close now he could feel her short breaths against his lips. Her pretty eyes never left his until now, and she was looking down at his lips. He repeated those words, “taking care of the prettiest girl in the world.”
Then she grabbed his hand and started leading him down the hallway, and he grinned.
Missioning with Hanabi was never boring.

For the request thing, can you do Naruto for the fandom, NaruHina for the ship and Kakashi and Guy for the characters? :)
Tumblr media
001 | Naruto💝
Favorite character: I’m gonna give it to my boi Naruto ☀️  I love that happy bean
Least Favorite character: Kaguya, cuz she just popped out of nowhere liiike...
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): NaruHina, InoSai, ShikaTema, KonoHana and SasuSaku
Character I find most attractive: Sasuke and Hinata (If I’m gonna be honest)
Character I would marry: Neji or Itachi (I’m so over the moon about these two caring and protective big bros)
Character I would be best friends with: Naruto and Shikamaru
a random thought: I honestly want to see an AU where Sasuke didn’t go rogue
An unpopular opinion: SasuSaku needs more on-screen airtime before they were made canon 🤷🏻
My Canon OTP: NaruHina
My Non-canon OTP: KonoHana
Most Badass Character: Shikamaru (I rly admire his tactical skills)
Most Epic Villain: Pain
Pairing I am not a fan of: NaruSaku 😭 ✌️ (don’t kill me, I don’t like it but neither do I hate it)
Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I need more shinobi sisters screentime
Favourite Friendship: Team Guy! ✨
Character I most identify with: Sasuke (cuz, I’m so damn emotional but can’t bring myself to express it which often ends up in resentment) 😢
Character I wish I could be: Naruto✨  (I want to be as care-free and light-hearted as him)
002 | NaruHina💝
When I started shipping them: Ever since I was 8 yrs old during Hinata’s fight against Neji ✨
My thoughts: I love how cute they are like you have this shy girl and the painfully dumb boi. They like each other but they’re too slowww
What makes me happy about them: They inspire each other without even knowing 💖
What makes me sad about them: Other fans of the series can’t see the beauty of their admiration just because it was played very subtly
Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Them acting like they belong in Riverdale or sumn’
Things I look for in fanfic: Their honest feelings for each other no matter how clueless they both are 💖
My wishlist: Post-war NaruHina where both of them are being dumb and in love with each other, just don’t kill any of them in Boruto
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: no. just no.
My happily ever after for them: Them being old and gray watching their future grandchildren play at their backyard 💕
003 | Kakashi and Guy!💝
How I feel about this character: They’re a cute duo. I love them very much✨
Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: The both of them to each other?
My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: The both of them with their own teams
My unpopular opinion about this character: 🤷🏻‍♀️
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: A gag spin-off of them annoying each other 😂
Favorite friendship for this character: I guess it’s the both of them
My crossover ship: 🤷🏻‍♀️
Thank you anon!!! This is sooo fun!!!

[AO3] [WATTPAD] [QUOTEV]
Chie was warm when she awoke the next morning. What a lovely feeling! She couldn't remember how long it had been since she last felt this peaceful — as if pure sunshine itself were wrapping around her, coiled like an affectionate snake. Even though that was a very weird mental image.
Speaking of which… the sunshine itself was just barely peeking in through the windows of the room, making her close her eyes a little tighter as she snuggled harder against her pillow. All she wanted to do was sleep in and forget the frightening, insane dream she had. Yukiko falling into the TV? Monster clones crawling all over each other — and worse still, Yu and Yosuke seeing them like that?! Horrible and crazy, even if the ending of the dream was a little less unpleasant. No, she would rather just think about sunshine and her best friend and let the nightmare fade into nothingness.
"Yukiko…" she breathed with a small smile.
"Hmm?"
The response didn't startle her. Not at first. She simply was too comfortable, too happy, for the reality of the situation to poke through that fuzzy blanket of contentment. However, she did start to feel like either her pillow was a little too warm, or her dog somehow knew the word "Hmm" now. And come to that, Muku wasn't an inside dog. Why was he in her bed today?
When she moved her face just a little to snuggle closer and hopefully fall back asleep, she could suddenly tell that there was hair covering her pillow. Not fabric, and not dog fur either… actual human hair. That was weird. Her brain finally put it together: the least weird thing to be covered in human hair was a human, not a pillow or a dog. So that meant…
That meant…
Drawing backward, Chie opened her eyes to observe a sea of silky black strands. Yukiko. She didn't need to scroll through some huge list of people it could be; she knew, even without seeing anything else. This wasn't the first time they had fallen asleep together and awoken in the same bed. Just the first time since finding out a shadowy part of her heart wanted to wake up next to her every morning.
Moving her arm a little showed her that it was around Yukiko's stomach. And it felt so good there… who wouldn't love to spoon the junior innkeeper? Flawless goddess that she was. Practically everybody who went to Yasogami High shared that opinion; with the exception of Ai Ebihara, who was gorgeous but as snooty and unpleasant as they came, she was most definitely the hottest girl in school. She had even overheard a couple of "If I were gay" discussions in the locker room that hinted Yukiko would be their ideal.
But now, Chie and Yukiko were gay. For real, not just hypothetically.
"Oh shit," she breathed when she remembered that particular detail. The shadows had been telling the truth. Sure, she knew she could put up a fight, try to pretend it was all a dream or they were lying, but the moment she accepted that other Chie into her heart she relinquished all right to deny it any longer. "Yukiko… I think we're in trouble."
"Hmm?" she groaned again, squirming a little in Chie's embrace. Her hand drifted up to rest on the back of Chie's, which made her smile. What a tender touch. "Prince? What time is it?"
Now she burst into a full rosy blush like she never had before. Yukiko was calling her that in her sleep now? She had thought the shadow exaggerated that slightly, like they tended to do, but apparently it was no exaggeration. Before she could think through her response, it was out of her mouth and into the air.
"I don't know, Princess."
Yukiko's dark eyes fluttered open, staring at the wall bordering the window. Now she could see this was Yuki's room; her brain hadn't been firing on all cylinders before. Such a traditional Japanese room, complete with low tables and tatami, a bonsai on a small table in the corner, hanging calligraphy — and they were curled up in a futon that was luxurious for one person but very slightly too small for two. There was also a poster of a pop group Yukiko loved, but it was framed; probably a compromise on her mother's part.
"Chie-chan?" she breathed.
"Yeah?"
"It's you. Why… last night, what happened?"
"Nothing! Nothing happened!" That was her first instinct; cover her own ass, make sure Yukiko didn't think she was being a creep. Then she cleared her throat. "I m-mean, uh… I don't know. What do you remember?"
Her warm body shifted, and Chie felt her neck growing yet hotter. This felt too good in a way it never had before. "I remember… the castle. You saved me. I'm… oh."
"Oh?"
"I remember our shadows."
"Damn," she sighed. "I was kinda hoping you'd forget that part. So embarrassing!"
"I know! I've never… how could that other me be s-so indecent? I've never had thoughts like those before!"
Chie sighed, petting up and down her best friend's stomach. She felt the muscles twitch and shift in response. "Um… yeah, but… I have. And I think the shadows kinda, um, fed off each other? Or something, I guess. I don't know."
Finally, Yukiko turned just enough so she could look at her best friend out of the corner of her eye. "You've really thought about me that way?"
"Not… like the shadow said I did. I wasn't trying to…" She grimaced, and Yukiko's expression grew more concerned. "Never wanted to be with you… like that. It was just a thought or two, I promise. Because there's never been any guys I was really into, y'know? So after seeing that video, I… y-you're so pretty, and we're already best friends… so I had to wonder…"
"You had to wonder…?" When Chie didn't continue, she bit her lip for a moment before whispering, "If maybe you and I could be like the girls in the video?"
"Yeah! But then I was like, that's stupid, right? We're friends! And that's cool! You've been my best friend practically my whole life, and I love that. I don't wanna mess it up."
"Chie… why are we in bed together?"
Swallowing hard, she tried to scrape together two brain cells. "Well… you collapsed in the castle, and then I was trying to help carry you out… and after that… man, I really don't remember."
"If…" Yukiko rolled onto her back, and Chie felt even more self-conscious now that they could see each other. That perfect, angelic face, gazing up at her with concern and trust. She didn't deserve that. "Maybe Yu and Yosuke couldn't carry both of us all the way to both houses? So they just left you here."
"Maybe…" She sighed, looking away. "I'm sorry, Yuki-chan. I didn't mean to flake."
"Flake? What do you mean?"
"I should have been able to carry you all the way home, if I'm really your… well, y'know."
"My prince?" When Chie nodded, she let out the softest little chuckle. "You really think I don't still see you that way? You went to an entire other world for me. A-and you accepted your shadow, even after she told everyone that you… after she did those things to the other Yukiko."
"I couldn't hide from them anymore," she sighed, slumping just a little. "Not with it all out in the open, and… and it being the truth."
"No, that's not what I was trying to explain. I know the only reason you accepted that was to make sure I was safe. I could tell." Her hand drifted up to cup Chie's cheek. "My brave prince, risking her life, and then… her reputation in front of the guys. And all I did was be a victim."
Eyebrows furrowing, she leaned a little closer. "Don't say it like that. We were all victims — of whoever's behind this stupid stuff. How were you supposed to know you'd get kidnapped?!"
"But I couldn't protect myself," she insisted. "Couldn't stop them from catching me and throwing me into the TV. What kind of pathetic-"
"Stop! You have every right to just… be a peaceful, gentle girl, who likes to study, and laugh at stupid jokes, a-and… and I would die to defend that right!"
Yukiko's face suddenly grew deathly serious. "No. Please don't say things like that, Chie. I don't want to think about… well, I just don't want to think about that. Okay?"
"Okay," she acquiesced with a little nod. While Yukiko was breathing a sigh of relief, she kissed her cheek. "I'm just glad we got you back safe and sound."
"Oh," Yukiko breathed. Only then did Chie realise what she had done, but her friend was already smiling. "Y-yes. Thank you."
"S-sorry."
"No, no, it's alright! It felt very…" She trailed off, the bridge of her nose and her cheeks turning pink. "I can't believe this is real. We're… I didn't even know. How could I not know I had those feelings buried inside of me? Am I stupid?"
"Only if I am, too," she chuckled, and Yukiko grinned bashfully.
"I guess you're right. We can't pretend that both of our shadows weren't having a great time over there."
"We could," Chie hedged playfully. "Try to pretend the whole thing was just a big hallucination. But now that Tomoe is a part of me, I don't think it's gonna work very well."
"Tomoe?"
After blinking for a moment, Chie breathed, "Whoa. I just… knew that name. That's the other me; her name is Tomoe. How? She never told me…"
"Konohana Sakuya."
"Huh?"
"That's… mine's name," she explained, sounding just as confused as Chie. "They're part of us, but… also something else. I saw them change before we accepted them; do you think…?"
"I don't know," she admitted readily. "Seriously, I wish I did. But I remember Yosuke saying something about that when we were all talking about what happened when him and Yu went into the TV before. They used a word… I just can't remember what it was now."
"That's alright. We can ask them later." They shifted and felt their legs graze each other's, and Yukiko giggled a bit. "Wow, this feels very different from before."
"You bet. I'm… I don't know what to do."
"What do you want to do? We can get up now if that's-"
"NO! I mean, uhh… it's okay. We can chill for a minute."
Yukiko smiled sweetly up at her, even if her face was glowing crimson. "You don't have to do that anymore, you know. Hide your true feelings. If you do want to… be close to me, we can do that. It's a little scary since it's new, but I… don't mind. Not at all."
"Really? It's not too weird?" She moved her legs again. "I don't think, um… we're wearing very much. Under the sheets."
"Y-yeah. It's… don't worry, I'm sure it was my mother who undressed us, or one of the other women."
"It had better have been. I'll punt that Yosuke to the moon if he even took off one of my shoes!" They both giggled a little before relaxing again, even if they weren't fully relaxed. Too much excitement.
"Your legs are smooth," Yukiko commented out of nowhere. "A-against mine. Sorry."
"What are you sorry for?"
"Well… it's strange, isn't it? For us to be doing this, and… I want to tell you what I'm thinking, but I'm also ashamed of those things. It's silly; I just got done telling you everything is fine, and yet…"
One of Chie's shoulders rose and fell with a little shrug. "It's okay. Seriously, I'm… don't worry about me judging you. I'm pretty sure it's my fault we even saw our shadows doing that since I'm the perv."
"You are not a perv," she chuckled. "Unless you were lying about how often you go to watch those videos."
"I wasn't. Like, I only went on there once." Sighing, she forced herself to admit, "I did watch more than one video, though. Like, a few. But I felt so creepy afterward that I couldn't let myself go back."
"I see. Did you want to look at some together?"
Chie nearly lost her mind at that thought. Therefore, she was quick to assure her, "S-some other time! Maybe? I dunno, um…"
"O-oh, okay," Yukiko quickly agreed, nodding as she swallowed hard. "I didn't mean to upset you, or to suggest something… too unpleasant. Just trying to help."
"You are! I mean it, this is really… I'm so happy that you're not skeeved, or think I'm being a perv, or hating me for… being gross with that website. I just… got curious, and then it was super fascinating."
After debating internally for a second, Yukiko whispered, "And then, you pictured the two of us doing the same thing?" No answer. Yukiko reached up to pet along her cheek again as she added, "It's alright. I think… w-well, I don't like anyone thinking of me that way. It seems vulgar. Except, knowing you have… it doesn't make me angry like Yosuke does when he asks what my measurements are."
Chie's lip curled. "That boy is a real horndog. Not a bad guy overall, but like, he's sure got a one-track mind."
"Yeah!" she agreed with a musical laugh that made Chie melt in a way it never had before. She always loved it, sure, but now it had a deeper effect than could be explained away. "I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to get us into swimsuits as soon as the weather's warmer."
"Probably right! I mean, God, why is he like that?!" They both giggled for a few seconds, trying to relax against each other's bodies despite the electricity sparking between them. Then Chie cuddled a little closer, feeling Yukiko's arms tighten around her back. "Mmm…"
A tender mouth came to rest against the crown of her head, pushing into the hair a tiny bit — not quite a kiss. Just a tender gesture. "Chie… I don't understand a lot of this. I really don't. But I want you to know something."
"What's up?" she breathed.
"That you and I… we're friends. And not just 'I'll see you in class' friends, but 'I'll see you every day for the rest of our lives' friends. Even if we aren't… that kind, if our feelings aren't the same, that doesn't matter. I will never turn my back on this friendship."
Her heart felt like it could burst. "Y-Yuki-chan… I… for real? You and me, forever?"
"Sorry."
"No, no, I feel the same way!"
"You do?!" When Chie nodded, she embraced her even more tightly. "Oh, Chie… I've felt that way for a long time! I just wasn't sure if I should say it, or if it would be too strange. Since it sounded like…"
When she didn't finish the thought after a few seconds, she whispered, "Yeah. It sure does sound like… a love confession."
"Right. And of course, I love you. I'm just… not sure what kind of…"
"Hey, don't sweat it," she reassured her with a smile as she held onto her friend. Trying to ignore how warm she was, how good she smelled… how little they were wearing, even if it was underneath bedsheets. "We'll figure that out. Probably."
For a few minutes, they simply laid there, too afraid to continue. To misspeak and change the whole situation sooner than either of them were prepared for. Finally, Yukiko cleared her throat as she caressed up and down Chie's mostly-bare back, fingers tripping slightly over the strap of her sports bra.
"So… um… fingers can really… do that to a woman? And it doesn't hurt?"
Instantly, Chie turned back into a mess. It became a lot harder to ignore certain physical reactions when forced to think about that spectacle their shadows put on again — especially when she could feel a very warm hip pushing against the area in question.
"Y-yeah, I guess so! Not that I tried it, but I, u-um… looked like it to me."
"Wow…"
"I know, right? Crazy…"
Licking her lips, Yukiko whispered, "And you would want to try that with me?"
"NO! I uh, I mean… yeah? But we're not doing that kind of stuff, so it's fine! Really, I'm just… I feel a little light-headed, do you feel light-headed? Is it hot in here or is it just you?"
Yukiko had been laughing until the last part, which made her gasp. "Me? Hot?!"
"Yeah, you! Geez, haven't you ever looked in a mirror? Don't you hear how the boys talk about you in school?"
"W-well… I think boys just talk about girls like that all the time," she hedged, cheeks flaming red. "And of course, I know I'm not ugly, but I also don't think I'm particularly pretty. Or unique; I'm such a common girl. What about Ebihara-san? She's much prettier than me. And so are you!"
Chuckling just a little at her friend's modesty — which she knew was true and not a facade, thanks to their shadow-encounters — she kissed her cheek and whispered, "You're beautiful, ya idiot. And everybody knows Ebihara's a bitch."
"CHIE!" she cried out in shock, even though she started giggling a moment later. Chie allowed herself to relax into the embrace as her friend shook with mirth for a few seconds. "I… I can't believe you said that!"
"What? It's true! She's a huge bitch and nobody can stand her. I mean… she's probably just really insecure or whatever, but does that have to mean she takes it out on the rest of us?"
Yukiko nodded thoughtfully as they relaxed against each other. "I wonder… if she went into the TV with us… what her shadow would be like? Or my parents, or… anyone. Not that I want them to have to go through what we have, or what the reporter and Saki-san did, for sure — nobody else should die. I'm just curious what secrets are in their hearts; it might explain why Ebihara-san is so, um, unpleasant."
"Who knows?" she sighed, relaxing a little more as they both fell silent. At least they had the topic of the egomaniacal Ai to distract them for a few seconds.
What should they do now? Of course, they could just keep lying there, but given that she already felt the embers of need trying to catch the rest of her on fire, that was a bad plan if she didn't want to end up repeating what the shadows had done. Which neither of them was quite ready for. Could they actually just get up and start acting like everything was fine? No, that ship had sailed; actually watching part of their own selves acting out secret fantasies would not be so easy to forget as a slip of a tongue, or a lingering glance.
"Yuki-chan?"
"Yes?"
"Um… I'm sorry for how I used to think about you." There, perfect. This was something she needed to do, anyway, and it would help keep them from thinking too hard about other matters. "For thinking of you as dependent on me, o-or whatever. I know we kind of already went over that, but I wanted to formally apologi-"
"Shhh," she shushed her, kissing her cheek. "Chie, don't. I know… I know I put you on a pedestal, and you enjoyed the pedestal. We both could have been… smarter? Or more wise? Or maybe just more honest about our feelings with each other. A-anyway, I, um… I don't like you any less, and I don't think you're a bad person at all. So don't worry about those things."
Great. Yukiko was so kind and understanding that now they had nothing to distract them from the deeper worries about their sexuality. And since they had already admitted their feelings, more or less…
"D-does this mean… we're… dating?"
"Does it?" Yukiko asked, eyebrows shooting upward. "Wow…"
Grimacing, she hissed, "Don't just accept it like that! We're both girls, aren't we?"
"Well, yes. But I've read somewhere that it's becoming more and more commonly accepted in other parts of the world. There are countries in Africa where it's still punishable by death, but everywhere else…"
"Death!" she squeaked, clutching at her own throat.
"Stop," she snorted with a slight smile. "It's terrible, yes, but I don't plan on moving to Africa, so you and I should be safe."
Chie forced herself to breathe. Then she cleared her throat and followed up with, "Still, um… we're in Japan. It's weird here, right? They're going to look at us funny."
"Maybe…" She frowned a little, then she shrugged. "But how will they know we're not just friends?"
"Well, that- oh. Oh, I guess you're right, huh? Unless we make out in the middle of class, anyway."
"You want to make out in the middle of class?" Chie's brain short-circuited for a minute before Yukiko giggled. "Sorry, that was mean. I made you picture it, I think."
"N-not 'mean'! Nope! And what do you mean? I didn't picture anything!" When her friend only continued to giggle at her expense, belly shaking, Chie rolled her eyes and smiled. "You're such a goof. Do you know that? Like, everybody else is fooled by your cute 'proper lady' kimono-wearing facade, but not me. I see who you really are."
Her smile was coy as she gazed upward, the sun coming through the window in just the right way to sparkle in one of her eyes. "And who am I?"
What Chie had been going to say was something along the lines of "a nerd"; she actually wasn't entirely sure. But seeing her like that prompted a quiet, "Perfect."
"What?" Yukiko's smile disappeared, only to reappear smaller and alongside a rosy blush. "O-oh."
"What?"
"I didn't think… you were going to say something like…" Throat working to swallow, she looked away. "Wow. You really are a prince."
"A-ah, come on," she tried to laugh it off. "Just because I said that one thing?"
"No. It's the way you said it; the way you were looking at me when you did. There was this dreamy sincerity in your eyes, and… your voice was so serious. I got goosebumps." When Chie laughed again, she pushed down the sheet and raised up an arm. "No really! Look, I have them!"
However, Chie became distracted by something else other than the tiny scores of bumps along Yukiko's arm. There was no bra. She had still been expecting actual clothes, really, but even beyond those having gone missing, her best friend was topless. And unless she missed her guess, those peaks were erect — probably for the same reason her arm had blossomed into gooseflesh.
Because of Chie.
"Oh!" Yukiko suddenly gasped when she realised, her other arm sliding up to lay across her chest and conceal everything. "Oh no, I- I'm sorry, I w-wasn't… sometimes I can be such a ditz!"
"Yeah…" Once hearing she said that, she hurried to assure her, "Wait, hang on, you're n-not a ditz. I don't think that! I meant, um… it's okay! Yeah."
Both of them were red enough in the face that they probably could have cooked omelettes on their cheeks. Chie took a quick glance down to see if she was clothed, and she was — in her sports bra. At least it was something. Yukiko was probably either wearing no bra before, or hers was nicer and more elaborate, so the women who worked at the inn had removed it so she could rest comfortably after her ordeal. It made sense, even if it resulted in this awkward situation.
"...want to…"
"What?"
Yukiko was quick to shake her head. "Nothing."
"No, really," Chie insisted. "I missed what you said."
"I asked if you wanted… to… t-touch them?"
Licking her lips, she glanced around the room. "Okay, I uh… I know we said we'd do that whole 'honesty' thing from now on. But are you sure you wanna be asking me questions like that?"
"I am," she whispered. "Even if the answers might scare me a little, I could never be really scared. Not with you next to me."
Heart bursting with love, Chie smiled down at her and leaned in for a gentle kiss. Neither of them were really ready, but she suddenly knew that there was no point in depriving each other of the chance to experience this connection — one that had existed all along. They just lied to themselves about what kind of connection it was.
And Yukiko's lips were soft, sweet. Perfect like the rest of her. Chie found she never wanted to stop. Her hand drifted up to grip Yukiko's upper arm, and both of Yuki's hands rested lightly on her collarbone as the kiss deepened — just like a princess! This was crazy!
"Oh wow," Yuki breathed once they parted for air.
"Shit," Chie rasped in a voice husky with need. Then she cleared her throat to try again. "I m-mean… that was… I've never… shit."
Her friend giggled warmly, one hand drifting up to cup her cheek. "My eloquent prince."
"Sh-shut up." When she only giggled more, Chie bumped their noses together with a bashful smile. "But yeah, that was amazing. And I, uh, I wouldn't mind doing some more."
"Doing some more kissing? Is that a proper way to phrase it?"
"I don't even care, man. Like, I'm trying not to scream and roll around on the floor!" They both giggled this time, and Chie buried her face in her hand. "You're my princess. How did I not see… was I just really dumb?"
"I feel pretty dumb, too, so it's okay." Pillowy lips grazed her cheek and sent her heart skipping over a beat. "But um… we should probably take a break. Before one of us faints."
"That might be a good idea." When Yukiko started to stand up, she covered her eyes. "AH!"
"Oh! Do you… not want to see my body? I'm sorry…"
As fervently as she could, she shook her head. "That's not it! I'm just… like, if I'm kind of the 'boy' now, you aren't supposed to be showing off the goods, right? Like, u-um… maybe that's stupid. Sorry! I don't know what the hell I'm saying anymore!"
"It's okay," Yukiko laughed lightly. "But you're not a boy; you're just… my prince. Prince Chie. And if you want your princess to be more modest, I can be."
"That wasn't what I meant, either; it's not that you're doing something bad! You're great! REALLY great! B-but I shouldn't be a, um, a pervert-prince."
"Ohhh… okay, I think I understand. You want my permission to look? Instead of just, um, accidentally sneaking a peek?"
"Yes. Or like, um… well, yeah, pretty much. But I don't want you to give it right now just because I'm in the room."
The quietest little giggle almost made her look anyway. "You've already seen my body."
"That wasn't you. Probably my imagination's like, idea of what you would look like naked? But you'd have to tell me if it was, uh… accurate."
"How am I supposed to do that? I have no idea what I look like down there!"
"Like I would?! And it's your body!"
"Chie!" she gasped, a little embarrassed now. "Wh-why would I look at myself like that? I'd need a mirror, and… a-and I, u-um…"
Finally dropping her hands, she saw Yukiko had donned a kimono — not the somewhat ornate tsukesage she had been wearing when dragged into the Midnight Channel, which there would be no way she could get all that on in the limited time since getting up, but a simple pink-and-white chequed yukata. Chie felt her tiny flicker of lust turning to contentment and affection.
"You never got curious?" she asked as she got up. Now it was Yukiko's turn to blush and look away, and Chie made straight for the similar red-and-white yukata that had been hanging next to Yukiko's. She wanted them to both be comfortable instead of anxious. "I did."
"You did?!"
"Sure. I mean, I didn't do anything super crazy, just… when I learned to use a tampon…" Then she laughed awkwardly. "Maybe this is nasty to talk about, anyway."
"No, no, it's alright. I never…" Clearing her throat, she rephrased, "I use pads."
"Ohhhh. Yeah okay, I guess you wouldn't have." Then she tied the robe around the waist and approached her friend. "Well, I'm sure it's… nice?"
Flushed and squirming, she chanced a smile up at Chie. "I h-hope so. For you. Whenever we, u-um… not that we need to."
"Right! For sure! Nobody's holding a gun to our heads, telling us we have to bone!" At the last word, Yukiko flinched, so she grimaced and added, "Too far? I'm sorry, I know you're not real thrilled about people using-"
"It's alright. We're um… this is a very stressful and new situation. And I should probably get over things like that if I'm ever going to be a good wife for you."
Now it was Chie's turn to flush brick red, brain misfiring and leaving her stuttering and gaping at her. Wife. Was that where this was heading? Marriage?! But two women couldn't get married! Maybe they could live together, sure, but wouldn't that basically make them lifelong roommates? Who had sex? And kissed, and took care of each other, and…
"I guess you will be," she breathed aloud as the realisation hit her. "And I'll be a good wife for you, too! Like, so good, I swear!"
Yukiko reached forward to take up Chie's hands, holding them loosely as they gazed into each other's eyes. "Of course you will. I might be scared, and have no idea what I'm doing, but it's not about who you are. I know you're the best person in my life." They shared a small kiss — that still sent tingles along Chie's spine, despite how brief and chaste it was — before she added, "But aren't you the husband?"
"Hey, I draw the line at 'prince'," she laughed back. "You want a husband, you better ask Yu."
"No, thank you," she giggled. "He's very sweet but he isn't my Prince."
"Yosuke?"
"EW! That's so intolerable — he would be the worst!"
Chie cackled as they headed for the bedroom door to finally start their day, hand in hand. "Right?! He'd be better off with some girl like Ebihara!"
"Well, let's not go too far… I'm not sure who doesn't deserve whom in that scenario."
