Concerning updates and YOTP series

Hello!

First of all, I'd like to apologize to all waiting patiently on Cycle and Fold, Favorite Poison, and Cooler Than Me. This time of year is always a little funky, but I do promise they're getting updates soon. My YOTP will be completed even though it will roll into the new year, I'll be sticking by the 2023 prompts :)

I've recently graduated from a Master's program and have been on the arduous job hunt. In addition to that, some of you may know I'm also a parent to a school-aged child. Compound that with holidays and general burnout, creativity levels are low.

Every day, I set aside a bit of time to write, whether it's half an hour or the entire night (fates willing). Sometimes I get a few thousand words written, and sometimes I only get 50. I try to be kind to myself and count every word as a win, but it is difficult sometimes.

I love all of my readers, and I know most of the time, those comments are out of love. But it is hard to find love in a comment that simply says

"WHEN WILL THIS UPDATE?"

Tonality is hard to understand over text, so I do get that some of these are out of love for the story and not meant to harm. But if you haven't interacted with the story at all in the past, and until this point, this is the only comment I've received from you, it just doesn't feel amazing. It doesn't prevent me from writing, I'll keep doing that. But I think some people would benefit from hearing that if you like a story that hasn't been updated in a while, there are gentler ways of encouraging the author to update.

Sometimes, we can forget that these are labors of love done for free.

Something like: "I'm enjoying this story, I was wondering if there's an update planned?" works wonders. Most authors (emphasis on most, I do not claim authors who are dicks for no reason) will happily respond with something kind. And sometimes, those types of comments spur on writing.

Anyhow, time to dismount from my high horse.

I love my readers, I love all of you who interact with a like, a reblog, a kudos, or a comment, here or on Ao3. These interactions inspire me and I still love to write and will continue to. It just might be a little while before I get back into the groove, just like so many other writers experience at various points in their lives.

My first digital artwork I am sharing here on Tumblr, finally~ Teenagers Konohamaru x Hanabi are my most favorite character designs in their timelines ✩

I have been working on this canvas the past 3 weeks and I am satisfied at how it came out. I felt this displays my progress for this 1 month of practicing and imagining-- doodled lines and color schemes that make sense to me as a beginner.

What's your wedding headcanons for KonoHana ?

Ooo.

You know, I don't believe I have any. I mean it's a lowkey ship I've always seen the potential for so I can slap some up.

For anyone confused, we are talking Konohamaru Sarutobi x Hanabi Hyuga in my Wedding!AU series. Neither character has appeared yet lol. There's not even a hint of them being together I don't think.

But this is different, and I like different so let's say they are.

A reminder I'm pulling these out of my arse so they might not be very deep lol.

KonoHana Wedding!AU Headcanon #1:

Hiashi dislikes Konohamaru more than he does Kiba. And it's very, very simple as to why.

He was meant to be the perfect match for his favourite daughter. Grandson of the mayor, good, old money family, up and coming member of Konoha police and not the main heir of the Sarutobi fortune. Well mannered and morally upstanding.

Shame he took his lead on those morals from the person Hiashi despises most of all: Naruto Uzumaki.

Konohamaru had told Hiashi to go fuck himself within an hour of meeting the man. And much to his horror, Hanabi repeated the words when Hiashi tried to scold Konohamaru for his language.

They were fifteen.

KonoHana Wedding!AU Headcanon #2:

Konohamaru is a police officer as mentioned, and Hanabi is the heiress to the Hyuga family fortune. She's on the board of their international company and one day will become chairwoman. But that isn't her job.

She grew up watching her father ridicule her big sister over everything he perceived she was doing wrong. To the point that Hinata is still very sensitive to criticism. It made her angry, very angry.

She took that anger and put it towards becoming a psychotherapist. She specifically specialises in providing therapy and care to children from abusive homes. Especially abused daughters of evil fathers.

KonoHana Wedding!AU Headcanon #3:

Hanabi is godmother to Hinata and Kiba's twins. Being quite young at the time, she is the cool auntie.

Later Konohamaru becomes godfather to the youngest Inuzuka child. He is a fun uncle.

There we go, very light I know but I really hadn't thought of these guys as a ship for a long time.

There's also the chance these two won't ever appear in my Wedding!AU verse as a couple. But it's a fun thought experiment!
