Body swap diaries: PETER’s CYOC

After months of training and studying, I stood there proudly with fellow agents and superiors in the lower levels of Area 51 awaiting for my first mission as a full fledge secret service agent. It was a grueling time to the point that out of 50 candidates, only 3 of us actually made it.

We hear a gruff raspy voice from the intercom. “Welcome new agents and congratulations. You all are now officially part of the secret service which; as you all know, deals with more covert missions regarding this country. So please meet up with your superiors to discuss your first mission.”

All of the agents dispersed and so did I, and made it to Mr. Carlson’s office. I open the door and see a half naked man with curly hair frantically trying to put his clothes on.

“Ahh dammit looks like i forgot to close that damn door again. Lock it for me will you Peter.” I locked the door behind and sat at one of the office chairs trying not to look and stare at my supervisor’s body. “Hahaha come on now Peter, don’t be so shy. This isn’t the first you’ve seen me in another body.” He was right, but the usual bodies he’s in are the bigger hairy daddy types.

“So i guess you took my advice huh”

“ yeah. Went with someone younger and chose this guy named Jon to take for my time off. Gotta say its a different feeling.” He flexes his arms.

“You look great sir”

“Hahaha thanks Peter. Now since you were the highest achieving agent we have, i decided to assign you as a personal guard for a past president. As may know, any two term US president that finishes their service gets assigned a lifetime agent to help with safety and security, and they are also enrolled with the ‘reincarnation program’ which…

“Gives the ex president and their partner, a choice to have their consciousness transferred to another person’s body.”

“Very good Peter!” He claps his hands “now of course they can opt out of it if they choose to, but we at least wanna give them a taste of it and see if its for them.”

“Isnt it too early for Mr Obama to be in this program?”

“Yes you’re right which is why I’m assigning you to George W bush.”

“Wait isnt there someone already assigned to Mr. Bush?”

“There was, but we are reassigning Gary to a much more… lets just covert mission.” I just nod my head knowing exactly what he means.

“Now Mr Bush has been living in his current body Bruno for almost a year in Brazil.”

“How about the real Bruno.”

“He’s living life as Mr. Bush. We programmed him to practically BE George Bush… memories and all” i nod my head. “ now Mr Bush has been alerted of the change in staff but I would like you to travel to Brazil and introduce yourself”

“No problem sir. Will do”

“I also gave the guys at the lab the Ok to swap you with someone else for this mission, of course you don’t have to.”

I thought about it for a short while and decided to swap. “ Thank you sir. I will go right now.”

“Sounds good. Here is a catalog of the guys that are available.”

I look over it and saw Jon’s body with the amount of $10,000 right by his name. “Damn! I cant believe this kid is getting paid $10,000 to swap bodies with an agent” i thought to myself.

“now if you’ll excuse me. I think its officially time for me to start my Time off.”

“Have fun sir and Ill see you when you get back.”

I leave his office and made my way towards the all the while looking at the catalog.

“Hey Peter!” I waved at Vinh “ Mr Carlson told me all about your mission. So have you thought about which body you want.”

I looked over the catalog one last time…. “This one” I said

☕| A Filha de Auschwitz - Lily Grahan (4★)

Minha primeira leitura do ano que, na verdade, veio do final do ano passado kkkkkk

A Filha de Auschwitz conta principalmente a história de duas amigas, Eva e Sofie, que vão para Auschwitz voluntariamente, cada uma com seus motivos - isso aí, vc descobre ao longo do livro, não vou dar spoilers - e que acabam sofrendo bastante com essa decisão.

Na minha humilde opinião, já que o livro tem esse título, ele deveria falar sobre ✨a filha de Auschwitz✨, ou seja, uma bebê que nasceu lá, mas isso NÃO acontece. Se não tivesse esse título, eu teria dado uma nota melhor, mas apesar da história ter sido ok, não cumpriu o que prometeu.

☕| Confusão é Meu Nome do Meio - Stephanie Tromly (4,5★)

A história começa com Zoe, a típica garota certinha que não se mete em problemas - eu mesma me sinto ofendida com esse estereótipo, mas foi assim que ela foi descrita o livro inteiro - dando de cara com Digby, o típico garoto encrenqueiro que vive se metendo em confusão, batendo em sua porta.

E, apesar de serem uma dupla improvável, quem disse que eles não podem se dar bem?

Eu gostei bastante do livro no geral, embora não tenha um mistério tããããooo surpreendente e lembre uma comédia adolescente dos anos 2000 - daquelas que os adolescentes fazem o que quer e os adultos fingem que não viram nada -, mas ao mesmo tempo, achei pesado. Vou falar mais sobre isso na resenha dele.

☕| A Pequena Livraria dos Sonhos - Jenny Colgan (4★)

Nina é bibliotecária, obcecada por livros e tudo começa a dar errado quando os funcionários recebem a notícia de que a biblioteca será fechada e eles terão que tentar um cargo na sede.

Após um incentivo durante uma palestra, Nina decide desistir da vaga - que nem lhe interessava tanto assim - e correr atrás de seu sonho de ter uma livraria "viajante".

O problema é que a única van que ela gostou está na Escócia.

Para ser sincera, esse livro me decepcionou um pouco. Sei lá, talvez eu tenha criado expectativas demais em todo esse tempo querendo ler ou o final foi ruim mesmo.

☕| Onde Mora o Amor - Jill Maxwell (4★)

Dexter Yates é um mulherengo. E, de repente, ele precisa cuidar da sua sobrinha que nem fez 1 ano ainda. Será que isso vai dar certo?

O livro é legal, foi divertido e tals, mas parece que TODOS os personagens secundários ganharam uma história. Assim, eu acho até que foi útil pra autora, levando em conta que o casal ficaria junto em umas 100 ou 200 páginas se não tivesse a história de tanta gente no meio.

☕| Álgebra em Quadrinhos - Larry Gonick (5★)

Nesse daqui a gente vai direto pra minha opinião né kkkkk o título é auto explicativo.

O livro é muito bom, gostaria muito de ter lido ele no 6° ano, seria de grande ajuda kkkk. É bem tranquilo, dá menos medo da matemática, recomendo pra qm tem dificuldade com álgebra ou quer dar uma revisada na matéria sem se estressar demais.

How is believing in Taekook still valid?🧐 Taennie is rumored to be dating for mora than a year and still there is no denial on both sides. We should respect their silence and right for privacy and shouldn’t expect official confirmation but that’s obviously silent nod to “yes”. In light of all of that it becomes unethical to genuinely believe that Tae is gay and in love with another man plus disrespectful to his real partner. Taekook and other ships with Tae became invalid last year. I mean you could ship it on the fan side, fantasy is not illegal but to consider that Tae is really in relationship with JK is …pure madness to me. When would you consider Taekook invalid? When there will be official announcement of Tae’s lover or more serious like his engagement/wedding?

I've made plenty of posts about this issue, but I think one of them that I made sums up it pretty well (and also has links to some of my other points explaining the topic). I recommend reading it so I don't have to reiterate a point I've made many times. I'm sure my followers are tired of hearing about it already (sorry guys!).

Taennie Relationship Timeline?

Most of what I was saying falls into that 'shipping on the fan side' ... I've been talking about realness and validity so often that I feel as if I'm speaking into an echo chamber filled with myself.

I'm not a Taekooker, I'm not really sure what they might be saying in terms of the situation, but as I've stated, as long as their shipping doesn't become invasive or hateful, then they're free to wander about within their bubble, that's more at what I was getting at.

I also don't support any smear campaigns or delusional conspiracies in hopes of keeping a ship afloat. I always tell people that if they're going to ship, they're allowed to make assumptions based on the facts at hand, and I don't support people spouting false truths off of something that hasn't been said and/or shown. So no eye contact analysis, no speculation of what the company is quote-unquote doing. We don't know what they're truly thinking or doing. Stuff like that is pure projection.

I even spoke about Larry (and I am not and never was a directioner), or however you spell, about how even though Harry Styles has had multiple partners, Larries tend to make false conspiracy after false conspiracy and target some of his exes or current lovers. Like, they can technically ship Larry, it's difficult to, I'm sure, especially after confirmations and official declarations. It becomes more of a problem when they are outwardly hateful or delusional toward the present facts at hand. Do you get what I mean? If they just keep quiet and make peaceful, non-objective statements (in terms of Larry's relationship status, bc ofc I want them to be truthful and not lie about things), that would be far better than stating things that go against literal confirmation.

I've always been incredibly vocal about confirmations and hearing from the boys and their company. We are never to say something is 100% real unless they ask it of us. If they confirm something, then that's the present reality. That's when everything else goes.

Iza nas je 'čudna' godina, a ispred nas? Evo što su zaključci sa završnog panela u Davosu

  Godina 2023. mogla bi biti bolja no što se očekivalo, no rizici su još uvijek brojni, uključujući moguću eskalaciju sukoba u Ukrajini i prijetnju transatlantskog trgovinskog rata, zaključak je panela Svjetskog gospodarskog foruma (WEF) u Davosu     Direktorica Međunarodnog monetarnog fonda (MMF) Kristalina Georgieva poručila je auditoriju u Davosu da se među dobrim vijestima izdvaja mogući snažniji rast Kine, kojoj MMF sada prognozira povećanje aktivnosti u ovoj godini od 4,4 posto. Iako će to vjerojatno potaknuti MMF da u siječanjskim međuprognozama podigne aktualnu procjenu rasta svjetskog gospodarstva u ovoj godini sa sadašnjih 2,7 posto, ne treba očekivati "dramatično poboljšanje", upozorila je Georgieva. Tako bi otvaranje Kine moglo potpiriti globalnu potražnju za energijom i podići njezine cijene, a rezultat bi mogao biti novi val inflacijskih pritisaka, samo nekoliko mjeseci nakon što je njezin skok dosegnuo vrhunac, objasnila je. Ovogodišnjim WEF-om dominirala je rasprava o tinjajućem sporu Sjedinjenih Država i Europe oko subvencija za prijelaz na zelenu energiju, sve ozbiljnijim dužničkim problemima u zemljama u razvoju i izraženom geopolitičkom riziku diljem svijeta.     "Najviše me, naravno, brine rat u Ukrajini", rekao je francuski ministar financija Bruno Le Maire na panelu, upozoravajući na moguću eskalaciju. No, rat je istodobno potaknuo EU da u odlučnoj potpori Ukrajini više nastupa kao politička sila, dodao je Le Maire. U osvrtu na američke subvencije za 'zelenu' tranziciju, koje Europa smatra nespojivima sa slobodnim tržišnim natjecanjem, francuski ministar upozorava da plan Washingtona mora biti kompatibilan sa sličnim naporima diljem svijeta. "Ključni problem nije Kina na prvom mjestu, SAD na prvom mjestu ili Europa, ključno je da bi svima nama na prvom mjestu trebala biti klima", rekao je Le Maire, koji se s njemačkim dužnosnicima sprema u Washington na razgovor o mogućim izmjenama američkih subvencija. Bivši američki ministar financija Larry Summers rekao je da američke subvencije i planovi Europe za borbu protiv klimatskih promjena barem predstavljaju dugoočekivano intenziviranje aktivnosti u prijelazu na zelenu energiju. "Dobro je ako se subvencijama ratuje za dobar cilj. To je vrlo zdrava vrsta natjecanja u usporedbi sa svim drugim vrstama natjecanja kojima je svijet svjedočio", rekao je Summers. Naglasio je istodobno da bi trebalo biti ravnopravno i da nikoga ne bi trebalo ograničiti niti isključiti. Menadžeri s Wall Streeta primijetili su u Davosu da je pesimizam popustio jer su se gospodarstva SAD-a i Europe pokazala otpornima, a Kina je olabavila mjere suzbijanja covida. Opisujući 2022. kao "čudnu" godinu, predsjednica Europske središnje banke (ECB) Christine Lagarde poručila je vladama da vode računa o tome da fiskalnom politikom koja bi mogla 'pregrijati' gospodarstvo ne otežaju posao središnjim bankama. "Moja je mantra u monetarnoj politici da treba biti uporan", rekla je, potvrdivši da ECB planira nastaviti s podizanjem kamatnih stopa koliko god bude potrebno.
