And the willowy girl is too forlorn. And I am too unwilling.
Yet here we are.”-@laurendestefanoauthor ‘Wither’ (The Chemical Garden trilogy ) a long overdue “redraw” of my first attempt at capturing them in 2019. also I realized about 3 days into this that I dressed them like a stoplight 🚦 oh well😅. I reread the first book via audible while drawing this the past couple of weeks and it’s still just so fun , seriously check them out if you haven’t read them 💖🙏

I just finished The Lost Ones by Lauren DeStefano and I have so many feelings. Admittedly, I’m not a fan of the ending but the book as whole got young Hook and Smee SO. RIGHT. Just…*chef’s kiss*. I’ll post more thoughts on it when I’ve had time to sort them out but in the meantime, I’ll just say that if you want a good feel for how “my” Hook is personality-wise (both how he was as a child and how he is post-redemption arc), this book is it. It’s not how I headcanon his backstory. But it’s definitely how I envision him as a person.

While any well-written book is capable of captivating readers, dystopian literature pushes the…

Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.
-Lauren DeStefano
