What are your hopes and fears about the upcoming DCU?

Hmmmm. This is one of those things where I'm still waiting to get a bit more direction about the next upcoming universe-wide event.

My hopes?

Well, I'd like to see DC find space in the roster for at least one (1) Aqua character to be appearing regularly in a continuing title, even if they don't spin up a new Aquaman title. It's frankly embarrassing that the only things the characters have been seen in is limited run team books, B-stories in anthologies, crossovers, and movie tie-in singles for almost two years, particularly when they just had a movie.

I want a continuation for Hawkgirl, thank you.

I want to see a main-universe Justice League book back (I don't count vs Godzilla vs Kong). It doesn't HAVE to be a JLA; it could be a JLD or a JLI (or even a JLQ though JLQ is mostly a stupid joke they haul out for Pride), I just think the current Titans run is underwhelming as the premier team book.

I want to see a teen or young-adult roster team book, to use literally any of the dozens of underused characters right now in the 14-21 bracket. I would also prefer it not to be a Lost Children book (though the likelihood of that seems to be going down, given apparently Johns is going exclusive elsewhere once the current JSA run finishes up). I also would like for the team leader on the book NOT to be a Robin.

I would really like to see Action Comics return to an A,B,C story layout that's focused on Superfam broadly, and I would like to see Detective Comics join it once Ram V's run is finished for the Batfam, if Brave and the Bold is going to continue avoiding actually using BatFAM characters. Both families support multiple titles but also at least a dozen prominent characters readers want to see each. Use that space to tell stories with them.

Blue Beetle brings Dani Garrett back and has her meet Victoria Kord and they hate each other.

Someone spins up a team that consists of Renee Montoya returning as the Question, Kate Spencer, Cameron Chase and Sasha Bordeaux. After creating the perfect Rucka-bait he comes back and writes me a maxi-series of all of these characters having adventures together, with Director Bones growling at them as Waller is currently too evil and them all largely ignoring him to thump heads together. If they really can't tempt Rucka, give it to Marc Andreyko. (I am aware this is a pipedream, but join me!)

My fears?

Harley Quinn stays on Birds of Prey

This upcoming Waller event is even more character-destroying nonsense that fails to recognise her complexity (oh I know, I'm already braced)

Tim continues to not be anchored onto at least one of the Bat books as a supporting character

Tom King stays on Wonder Woman for an extended run

Someone decides we need another Joker event

Anyone tries to push the reset button too hard in the upcoming event. Currently they've got most characters pretty stable and a lot of pre-boot revival characterisation happening. I really don't want extra multiversal shenanigans right now.

Any kind of personality or relationship type (gets along great, act like siblings, always at each other’s throats, constantly warring for bathroom space, the best of friends, etc.) is welcome for her roommates!

Here’s a bit about Sherri’s living tendencies: She is a perfectionist and a workaholic whenever she books a gig, so when she’s booked, her roommates are always aware. And when she’s auditioning, her roommates are also always aware. She sings and dances and practices lines all the time. She can cook. She’s health-conscious and works out regularly. She can be rude and blunt, as well as easily annoyed, but also surprisingly kind (if not nice). When it comes to her clutter, she is paradoxically clean in the kitchen but messy in the bathroom. She’s tactile with roommates she’s close to (if she considers you a friend she will lay on you while watching movies it’s just going to happen). She’s self-centered and talkative and will monopolize her roommate’s time if she has something she needs opinions on (will happen often). She’s a little shit and says she doesn’t like chaotic roommates while, in fact, BEING a chaotic roommate.

While writing this post, I wanted to investigate the most beautiful places in the world that we have visited. I searched Google for

the top 25 in order to see what ranges the Internet “thought” was most important (or useful) when trying to find the world’s most beautiful places.

Many articles of beautiful places stated “photos courtesy of Getty” or “images courtesy of one or more stock photography sources.” We actually spotted our photos in some of these lists used without our permission.

[Though we understand] everyone’s already using our things anyway, so let’s make a list

These are the stunning destinations in the world that took our breath away at first glance.

I hope you enjoy the most beautiful places in the world…As much as I would.

1. Cappadocia, Turkey

We had often seen photos of Cappadocia before taking a hot air balloon ride, but a photo could not have done justice to Cappadocia’s landscape.

It felt like a dream for me as I saw few balloons so loud

2. Santorini, Greece

As expected, Santorini truly lives up to its reputation as a beautiful destination. Meeting the people is a bonus along with the amazing scenery. The hotel that our team stayed at in Oia was an experience. The accommodations were luxurious and looked brand new.

As I sat in the infinity pool overlooking the caldera, I felt as if there was no other place that encapsulates the greatest wonder I’ve yet to see as much as the island of Santorini.

3. Lake Louise, Canada

We go to Lake Louise in the Banff area of Alberta often. Dave tells me that every time we visit, we are reminded of why he tells people that it is the beauty of this place several hundred kilometers from the Pacific Ocean that inspired him to visit. The entire area of Banff National Park exists to create a treasure chest of photo opportunities. You’ll be enthralled with each scene you encounter. We had an epic game of pond hockey on Lake Louise in the winter and it was just as beautiful in the summer as it was in the winter. In fact, we like it better in the winter because there are no crowds!

4. Maldives

The sapphire blue waters of Maldives are like nothing else in the world.

On remote private islands with palm trees and deep blue waters, exclusive hotels offer bungalows designed over the water to give the feel of a Caribbean vacation.

Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 11 to 14 January

The world's most influential technology fair is taking place entirely in the digital realm this year, opening up its programme of product showcases and more than 80 panel talks and keynotes to a global audience.

Highlights include a reflection on the first year of 5G with American telco giant AT&T, Virgin Hyperloop's take on the future of autonomous transportation and a discussion about privacy and trust with representatives of Amazon, Google and Twitter.

This regularly scheduled programming is accompanied by a host of sessions about the ongoing pandemic, including a discussion with British pop star Dua Lipa about how immersive, digital experiences are allowing her to stay connected to her fans while music venues are closed.

In/Visible Talks 14 January

In/Visible Talks is a design conference all about the creative process, which means that after a day's worth of talks and discussions the event will culminate in practical workshops about everything from blind contour drawing to the design of exhibition layouts.

For its fourth-ever and first virtual edition, the event is focusing on how design can be a medium for societal change by exploring what true diversity in the industry would mean, how graphic design can facilitate better representation and the best ways for creatives to collaborate with nonprofits.

DesignTO 22 to 31 January

Canada's largest annual design festival will spotlight the work of more than 800 local artists and makers, including a showcase of furniture made from native timber and an archive of modernist Canadian graphic design.

For its 11th edition, DesignTO is going "distanced and digital", with window displays allowing those in Toronto to experience the event safely and in-person while a virtual programme will ensure that everyone else doesn't have to miss out.

Oslo Design Fair 27 to 29 January

Set inside the Norges Varemesse congress centre in Lillestrøm, the Oslo Design Fair has expanded beyond the standard categories of furniture, lighting and interiors.

Under one roof and across four different exhibitions halls, it will bring together everything from Norwegian jewellery and fashion designers to gardening brands, illustrators, candlemakers and other craftsmen.

The World Around 30 January

Now in its second year, The World Around forum has recruited some of the most innovative architects working today to discuss their latest projects via on-site presentations and guided tours.

These are set to be broadcast on Dezeen from 14 international cities and will include Ryue Nishizawa presenting his House in Los Vilos, SO-IL showcasing recent work in Shanghai and New York and David Adjaye giving a remote tour of his Winter Park Public Library complex, which is under construction in Florida.

Other speakers will include Francis Kéré and Counterspace founder Sumayya Vally, while Liam Young will present his latest short film in collaboration with the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV).

The World Around aims to explore how architecture can tackle some of the most pressing issues of our time, from indigenous rights and racial justice to the environment. Earlier this year, the organisation held a symposium to mark Earth Day at Dezeen's Virtual Design Festival, featuring talks, interviews and short films from the vanguard of ecological design.

But what happens when forces beyond anyone’s control threaten The Shield’s legacy of fighting for truth and justice? Follow Joe Higgins as The Shield (and get ready for some surprises!) in this new one-shot comic! This was a great story and I hope David finds a reliable art team to come back and tell the rest of it. The idea that a character is not just time hopping but multiverse hopping at the same time is fantastic. Though a little explanation as to what this actually means to the times and places he’s ending up would’ve been good. Normally when something like this happens it’s out of the characters control so I’d be interested in learning of this is something Joe has control over or if it happens involuntarily and without advance warning. Why is this so dangerous and just who sent him traversing in this manner, some new villain out to conquer time and space? For now we don’t know but gosh darn it I really wanna know. The way that this is being told is interesting. The story & plot development that we see through how the sequence of events unfold as well as how the reader learns information is presented extremely well. The character development that we see through the narration, the dialogue, the character interaction and how they act and react to the situations and circumstances is delightfully rendered. I wish we got a little more information but it is what it is. The pacing is great and as it takes us through the pages revealing more of the story and the twist ending makes me want to see what’s going to happen next. How we see this being structured and how the layers within the story emerge and grow is well rendered. The layers contain some great characterisation as well as the reveal at the end, whether these things work directly with the main arc or simply swirl around it add extra depth and complexity to the story. How we see everything working together to create the story’s ebb & flow as well as how it moves the story forward is amazing to see. While Rob’s work has gotten better over the years and there’s no mistaking his unique style there are still moments that make me question his eye for visual storytelling. An indestructible suit with ripped pieces, the Fly’s out of proportion body from breasts to hips, and everyone’s faces seem to be the same. Though I will say it’s nice seeing feet look so good and the men in particular have these looks to them. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a very talented eye for storytelling. I wish we’d see backgrounds, more so in that apartment to showcase how cramped the room is to fight in. The colour work is really well rendered. How we see the various hues and tones within the colours being utilised to create the shading, highlights an shadow work is rather magnificent to see. There is a lot of good things here, some bad things but overall this really is an enjoyable story. I want to know more and that’s how you know it’s a good story when the reader sees enough to wet the appetite for more. I’m curious why a team made up of characters from different Earths was needed when Victoria already has a team of her own that basically has all these character already. So yeah i’m in the position that I want to see more. I’m a huge fan of The Mighty Crusaders and the potential they represent and I want to see more of these characters.
