Math masterpost!
So you want to learn math. Good. Math is amazing. I studied physics for two years and I miss it SO MUCH.
Learning math isn't just cool, but it's a great way to improve skills such as:
Resilience: sometimes you will get stuck for a while on a problem - this is absolutely normal for college-level problems. You won't start from here though;
Self confidence: mastering a subject known to be difficult is fun;
Problem solving: you will be less likely to just sit down and do nothing if something comes up in your life, you will be able to try to find a solution.
It will change your approach to failure as you will become more flexible in your thinking.
Unfortunately most people never learn how to properly study math. We all probably know how to study a book over humanities. We start by reading the material, then we take notes of the keypoints. But this method doesn't work with math, and math teachers often don't really know either.
For the basics I've made this post here. To sum it up:
Please don't start with "but i suck at it". Because then your brain will actually prevent you from learning (self-fulfilling prophecy, anyone?);
Realise that you need to master one topic before covering the next one or you won't be able to progress;
Really, the methods you use for things like literature or psychology or whatever won't work
Now I'm not a genius, I always was and I always be a terrible student. I have adhd, depression and chronic pain, all of which add a difficulty layer with learning.
I feel like most people fail because of the first point. I've seen this with people I've tutored IRL, people I try to fix their pc... Don't be the person that gives up before trying because no one likes that. Just don't. Remember that you are learning on your own and no one is going to grade your excercises. Now take that and make a poster out of iy.
Now, resources Where To Find The Stuff.
Khan Academy. I didn't follow this courses becuase well, university, physics, but everyone references them.

r/learnmath resources are great!
A great study method
Proofs? Proofs.
A 3 page document on learning math (but it's cool)
Terry Tao's famous post "there is more in mathematics about rigour and proofs"
Remember that, even if you don't like a specific youtuber, source or anything it has been a while since college and high school teachers started to upload their own material. Generally, looking for like "calculus pdf" will give you a lot of resources. Youtube is full of university courses of every kind and it's so good to access all of this knowledge for free.
I cannot recommend you anything regarding textbooks because I still have my high school one. Also yes, i've used the Rudin as a complementary textbook in university but that's a bit too much.
I really, really want to emphasize the mentality part. Leaning formula is useless if you feel like garbage because you weren't able to solve the first exercise you picked up after a decade not doing anything.
My personal and sparce advice:
Unless you have dyscalculia don't use the calculator. I know, I KNOW. But this "lazyness" will make everything 10 times more difficult.
Beware about overlearning. Basically, when you solve everything at the first attempt and you keep doing the same thing over and over because it feels good, but the truth is that you are wasting time. This is the time to move forward.
Try to differentiate between a knowledge error(did I actually study the subject?), a conceptual error (did I understand the material), or a mere calculation/distraction error (fo example a missing sign, writing the wrong thing etc)
Try to solve the problems in different ways if you can.
After a certain time, It will be useful to review things done in the past, (ref: spaced repetition method).
Write everything down. Reasonings, steps etc. It will be easier for you to review them.
This posts keep crashing so I have to call it quits now.
but:
have fun

astringency is a taste or more specifically, a tactile mouth sensation of dry, rough, and "puckery". kinda like how capsaicin binds with our mouths pain receptors (TRPV1) giving the physical heat sensation to spiciness. astrigency is a result of tannins and other molecules like catechins (more aptly these exist under an umbrella of hydrolyzable polyphenols) they can be significantly noticable in tea, coffee, maté, beer, wine, chocolate, some fruits markedly hang onto them in maturity like limes, grapes, grapefruit, apples, but in most ripe fruit (the edible parts) it is difficult to notice the astrigency.
these tannins chemically reacting with your saliva and cause it to percipitate into solid particles which gives the "dry and rough" sensations to the extent that some wines can be described as have a "powdery" mouth feel, and similarly why certain fruit juices can makes your saliva feel viscous! tannins also make your mouth tissue constrict, referred to as The "Pucker" Factor. these changes to mouth are not only tactile but change the way in which you experience taste, giving more "nuance and body" to a flavor.
tannins are a pest deterrent highly present in bark, wood, leaves, roots, buds, stems, unripe fruit, rinds etc. (basically anything the plant does not want you to eat). tannins have appetite suppressing affects, block digestion, and absorption of nutrients from food; they are "anti-nutrients" but on the flip side they have anti bacterial and antioxidant qualities, the same chemicals that help the tree resist rot and disease helps you too!!! (unpeeled fruit and shelled nuts will stay good for longer and a red wine will take longer to go bad than a white whine) they are called tannins because they have historically been used to tan leather, the deterrent qualities of the tannins keep bacteria and insects from eating up your delicious skin based clothing.
astrigency is often mistook with bitterness in wine and tea, as usually there is a degree of bitterness to most tannic beverages (especially in mass produced industrialized processing). but it is actually an entirely seperate part of the gustatory experience!!

Game design: Open world
When approaching a problem, you often have multiple options. You can put out a fire with a fire extinguisher, water, sand, a multitude of things, that you can pick and choose depending on your preference and what you have on hand, depending on the situation.
Games will often take inspiration from this when giving you your "Main objective". Letting you approach at your own pace, giving you different weapons or playstyles, are all generally marks of a good game.
When you take both factors to their limit, increasing the situations and the freedom to their maximum, Open-world games are created. Only 1 "True" objective or quest-line, but the vast majority of the content will be scattered elsewhere in the game world, giving you not only the freedom to choose how you fight, but which battles you fight as well.
This may sound like open world games are the pinnacle of game evolution, however, they only form a "Goldilocks zone" of perfection, wherein if you step outside of the parameters of Freedom and Content while keeping your game open-world, by not restricting the character at all, you fall into the Bland-trap; where the game simply feels like chewing very bland porridge: A experience with no flavour that never seems to end.
In this sense, it can actually make your game BETTER by restricting the players freedom; by packing all the content on a pre-determined route, you can guarantee the player runs into certain areas in a certain order, and put all your effort into those, not only saving the developer time, but also making the player have a better experience.
Consider this map: In scenario A, the game is open world, and in scenario B, you are forced along the pre-determined route, whether that be by instant-death mechanics, impassable barriers, or something else. Scenario A, many player can complete the game without seeing the best parts, or complete it all and feel as if the vast majority of the game was a disappointment. In scenario B, all players must experience the best parts of the game, making the experience have a baseline.
Making your game open world is a gamble, like preparing a 5-course meal. Too little variety, or quality, and the entire experience will be bogged down by the mediocre parts. By simply focusing all your efforts into one course you can make the player experience the vision they signed up for, that you wanted to convey, instead of hoping for chance.
Of course if you're a master chef, you can make all 5 courses complement each other. it's very possible, but it should not simply be attempted by the unwary. Too many have fallen into the simple trap of "Open world games are better" Don't be one of them.
Anyways what I'm trying to say is just go play Elden ring.

so my younger cousin is flying in to visit from brazil on sunday, and will be staying here for like, the entirety of july. which, don't get me wrong, is super cool! i love the kid! but it felt like a super weird move, considering his parents are the SUPER strict and borderline helicopter parents. even the smallest prank/roughousing with him/his little sister would lead to a strict talking to from his parents, he couldn't ever do anything without their clear permission, that sort of stuff. so letting him fly at alone at 16 to a whole different country and stay there for a whole month seemed WILDLY out of character. additionally, it just felt like a super last-minute trip. it's not like we have any plans to do when he gets here, and the flight itself and stuff only got booked like, midway through june.
and i was talking to my mom about it, kind of trying to nudge some answers out of her, and after a while she went, "yeah, i think they're sending him over here to get away for his boyfriend. see if the distance breaks them off." which, first of all, surprised me because last i checked, they didn't KNOW he had a boyfriend. literally everyone in the family did EXCEPT for them because while that entire side of the family being semi-conservative, his parents (mostly his dad) are EXTREMELY old-fashioned. so clearly something already went wrong. and considering the only reason the rest of the family knew is because one person found out and it spread like wildfire, i have a sneaking suspicion he wasn't the one to tell them, either.
and second of all. they're sending him HERE. to try to make him forget his homosexuality. i couldn't do anything but just wordlessly gesture to the multiple pride flags scattered around my room, then to myself, because really? he has like two other cousins in the us and they're sending him to me? honey i am about to introduce this kid to queer scenes you have never even heard of. he'll be returning home with labels only shrimp can perceive
