there's 2 versions: one with and without censors. the version above this text box is without censors, and the one below it has censors. id reccomend listening to both! this version resembles the version used in the movie rather than the soundtrack's edit; it has some interesting bell instrumentation around the middle of the song, along with a wonderful saxophone solo! the uncensored version lets you appreciate these details

the version above, the one with censors, is so funny to me specifically Because of the censors. they start out as your typical *bleep* noises, but slowly evolve into cartoon sound effects. and also they censor "titty" and "up yours", along with "ass" and "shit". absolutely glorious everyone needs to listen to it

Little Shop of Horrors (1986). A nerdy florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.
I can't believe I'd never seen this before? God, it's so much fun, with amazing puppetry, musical numbers and energy. It's high camp in every sense of the phrase, and also just the best time? Love it. 9/10.
I feel like Audrey II from “Little Shop of Horrors” and Cesare belong to the same species of charming antagonists that are easy to obsess about. I don’t know how but it makes sense to me.
- a nice balance of cute/monstrous
- theme songs that fuck hard
- powerhouse VAs (who could not be more different as people)
- boundless energy
Audrey II is Art Nouveau (organic, baroque, lush), Cesare is Art Deco (sleek, elegant, sharp). It makes sense I promise.
You kids today have NO idea how lucky you have it with the interwebs.
I saw this when it aired on TV in 1987, but hadn't thought to set the VCR for the Oscars, and I only ever saw it again because a friend HAD taped it, but I didn't have my own means of seeing it... and here it is now, over 30 years later, a mere curious finger tap away.
So this is the actual voice of Audrey II from the movie, the amazing Levi Stubbs, performing on stage!
