There's not an arc that I haven't liked in Black Clover so far, but my god do I love the Elf Reincarnation arc

Why?

Because the Elves aren't in the wrong.

Not in the slightest.

It's humanity who are the bad guys in this story.

The elves are innocent.

It was humanity that wiped them out.

Their quest for revenge is completely understandable.

Look at Yuno, the elf who reincarnated into him was Licht's unborn child.

The child he lost because of humanity.

Humanity who the elves befriended, taught magic too.

Used that same gift to wipe them out.

The elves lost everything and while their was another force pitting them against each other, it's humanity's fault.

What happened to the elves was nothing short of genocide of an entire race.

To the point where the current humans had no idea who the elves were.

The issue with the elves in this arc is that the current generation of humanity is innocent.

They never wronged them, it was there ancestors who caused their pain and suffering.

And Asta sees this.

Asta sympathises with them.

He won't let them wipe out humanity.

Nor use his friends for that goal.

He will defend his kingdom as a magic Knight.

All the while sympathising with the pain the elves have gone through.

Because they didn't deserve any of it.

And I love that nuance because it would be so easy for everyone to see the elves as nothing but evil monsters trying to destroy humanity.

But they don't.

Yami gets to know Charla and vice versa.

Lufulu and Luck both form a bond and even wish they could be friends.

The elves are innocent, there people with feelings, thoughts and have been hurt and that is portrayed so good.

Even Licht, thanks Yuno for allowing him to meet his son.

It's so bittersweet and I love it.

Fathers care for the army of tadpoles, moving them from a muddy puddle under bushes to a bigger pond in their mouths when the babies are ready to transition. Armies can reach up to 20 pollywogs each.

Oo, hmmm... 🤔 Well, tbh I never thought about it them much, which considering how central their friendship for the entire elf arc was, is kinda dismissive. But then again, the elf arc was about betrayal, and it was about the anger that Patri, not Licht, felt for the betrayal.

I think that both Licht and Lumiere are the type of people who genuinely try to understand others as well as the world around them. They're kindred spirits in a way, and I think that they felt that same mindedness, which allowed them to become as close as they did.

And Licht... I think that a reason why he was able to keep his heart from being corrupt, is because despite his grief he could see that Lumiere would never do that to them (or his sister). Though it could also be about him knowing that Tetia was still alive and it was that thread of sanity still keeping hkm grounded (but that's more so leaning to a romantic explaination).

Aside of that I think that... Licht and Lumiere are very genuine people. They really wanted to learn about each other so that they could become closer. And I can't imagine what Lumiere must've felt when his own people did what they did to the elves. Which is why I think that Licht did still trust Lumiere to be able to kill him when he turned demon. While Lumiere in by doing so also took responsibility for his people.

I think that their friendship is about understanding, trust and sacrifice.

What is your favourite fight in Black Clover

... I am physically incapable of choosing one sooo you're gonna get my top 5.

Though these aren't in any particular order.

I am only on chapter 305 of the manga so these might change.

1. Asta, Finral and Vanessa vs Vetto.

I love that fight.

I will never shut up about it.

It is great both as a physical fight, the teamwork is amazing.

And also for what that fight means in story and too Finral and Vanessa's characters.

2. Mereoleona vs Rhya.

I love how much they hyped up Rhya.

How epic his copy magic is, he's so amazing and he's so high up with the eye of the midnight sun.

...and Mereoleona just bodies him.

He throws everything he has at her and it does nothing.

It's more of a onesided massacre than it is fight.

It's fucking glorious.

3. Magna VS Dante.

That punch is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen.

I will never tire of characters showing what their made off, that they shouldn't be underestimated.

The amount of work it took him, the lead up the payoff.

So good.

4. Vanica vs Charlotte.

Okay technically this fight is still going but I love it.

I didn't think Charlotte could be more cool.

And I am so glad I was proven wrong.

Like holyshit she just went oh my curse? Oh that's supposed to weaken me?

How about no?

How about I use my curse to fuck with people who are cursed.

The Captain of the blue roses turning her roses blue.

Yesss!!!

Just all hail Queen of the Briars I fucking love this and I can't wait to see it continue.

5. Asta, Yuno and pretty much everyone vs Zagred.

Like it begins with Asta and Yuno and well those two teaming up will never not be awesome.

Yuno in his spirit drive form.

Asta in his demon form.

And seeing everyone else join in.

Mereoleona, Yami, Licht, Lumiere etc.

It's just so awesome seeing everyone.

Elves and humans, all of them come together against the dude responsible for all of this.

The payoff and the amount of foreshadowing all of this is amazing to see.

Yami gets serious.

And in the anime the first opening is playing.
