I really like how my Maurice and Alec turned out, much more like I pictured them in my head 🥰

I'm seeing a lot of love for the movie here on tumblr, and I'm sure it deserves it.. but I'm not a fan. Every movie adaptation needs to leave things out - I know that - but this scene specifically? Is so weirdly threatening. And mostly because they show Alec just. inviting himself in through Maurice's open bedroom window. Like, he sees Maurice hanging out of the window twice and assumes he was looking for some fun?

While in the book Maurice calls "come!!" into the night, on two separate occasions, himself not really understanding why. Alec was out an about both times. The first time he ignored it - the gentleman wasn't calling for him, was he? - but the second time he did feel like that could be the case. They completely leave that out in the movie. Seems important to me though? It refers to the recurring dream Maurice has, of a "friend" who will last him a life time. It refers to his desire for real love and companionship. And to then have Alec responding to it has so much meaning! Why omit that?

And then in the movie, the way Alec says "I know" as if he's saying "I know you're gay and if you don't let me fuck you, everyone will know too." Whereas in the book it felt more like "I know you're gay and that's alright, I'm going to take care of you," or something like that.

And then Movie Alec just starts off by smooching Maurice's chest.. it all feels super invasive. Very dubious consent ^^; But I guess I'm supposed to think nothing of it, cause when they wake up in the morning they're all cuddles and kisses. I personally would've liked to see that gentleness from the start.

I know the dubious consent part can be said about the book scene as well: Maurice didn't *actually* invite Alec in and he doesn't verbally consent to sleeping with him either. The atmosphere is just so different..

Anyway, I'm not judging anyone for liking the movie, I personally can't really stand it (at the moment: I thought it was acceptable ten-ish years ago when I'd read the book for the first time)

Stupid/silly rant abt something that probably only I care abt xd

So, for the last two days I've tried to make a redesign of the shadow-magical-girl chica outfit

And it literally sucks so much* that it leaves me with no idea to redesign it without changing everything from it

*in regards of design according Ann's Character, not if the outfit in itself, that is actually really cute*

So I'm just going to point out some things that bother me and mention what I think it would work instead

The outfit as it is

Look, i know this might be a personal bias, BUT magical transformations should be fun!!The excuse of "it's magic, it can do whatever it wants" gives us the opportunity to make cute outfits and stuff!!

Look, the dress is cute, alright, but adding a little bit more of details can really seal the deal here, maybe a bow in there, or some chains if we are going w a more "edgy" design, or adding a few markings on the boots to make them less flat. (Look i know that the design also can not be overly complicated bc the model would be hell to animate, but this girl needs accessories!)

Look, if you added a few random things over the original design it would make it a little bit more interesting, you could call it a day, right? Well yes, but that's what takes me to my second point...

This design is nonsense!!

Look, magical transformations are usually based in a certain theme or idea surrounding the character. Here are some examples

So, with that in mind, what can get get from chica transformation? (That story wise is supposed to show her growth as a person bc it shows that she accepted "her shadows"*)

*what are the shadows anyway, opposite personalities, their biggest fears or just ~bad vibes~?)*

Well, nothing, being the look so basic, and even with the long hair, something that is uncharacteristic of chica, she doesn't look like herself (you can edit the eyes and say it's joy, and it would look more credible) and it's only a problem for Ann, because both Freed and Bonnie have transformations that show their characters

This one is more of a fusion of Freddy and Fred, with the school uniform for Freddy (being his most recognizable look), and the vest for Fred (i want to remember the outfit that Fred uses in the wolf in sheep clothing has a black vest, this one could be representing that but idk)

This one does a Great job, because shows a lot of Bonnie personality (his love for the guitar w the pick, the characteristic hairdo that he does when playing, even the outfit is more "rock" idk how to explain)

So, how did this happen?

Well it's really simple, Chica doesn't have any personality of her own, or things she's recognizable for.

Both Freddy and Bonnie have things that they are known for (Fred and the Yaoi guitarist), that are used in the transformation, Chicago on the other hand isn't recognized for anything else beyond being The Girl™ of the band, in that sense, the transformation does a nice job representing that.

But Chica is more than that

In the series we see different aspects of her, she likes having and supporting her friends, she likes sewing and making clothes, she's the last one to give up on anything, she started a band with the trouble kid, an apathetic dude, a micro niche celebrity and the strange new kid, and somehow she made it work! So there's really no excuse to have her as basic as that.*

Oh hey btw i did make a design for her, but as I said before its really different from the original, and then I realized it kinda looks like @cinnabundolly12 Design--- this one that is waay cooler than mine, so I gave up and made this strange rant

*to be completely fair, Chica has a lack of troubles or conflicts of her own, most of them are related to the whole group, she has a little self doubt one chapter and then sings her song and that's it, she's also very bland as a character xd*

Back then I had been pretty nice because I felt a little bad for rejecting their request like "I'm sorry :// I hope you understand ://" but now I don't feel sorry in the slightest

And they've done it to lotssss of artists in the fandom it's ridiculous, and never with a "please" or anything

And you know it's the kind of person who will never leave you a thank you, never reblog what you drew for them for free, and for all you know they're gonna repost what you did on instagram or something 🤪

Some people really think artists are at their service and they can just ask like it won't take us hours to do a drawing. Some even take the opportunity when we do ask games & ask people to send us a character to draw, to drop their OC so they can have it for free, sorry but no, if you can't draw then go on picrew or something for that hahaha

But anyway for every new ML artist who hasn't had that PV anon yet: if you get it don't waste your time with them they're annoying ✌️

ChatGPT is NOT the same thing as a calculator

A calculator doesn't give you wrong answers.

It will ALWAYS give you the correct result based on your input.

If you feed it the wrong information, the answer to your problem will be wrong, but you can identify and correct it fairly easily because the logic is straightforward and consistent.

If you feed input into ChatGPT, you will not know if the output is right or wrong. You will not get the chance to easily identify whether it's right or wrong. Unless ChatGPT is right 100% of the time, it is literally useless. You will spend more time and effort verifying the output than you would if you just did your own research and wrote something yourself.

ChatGPT is not a research tool, and it was never MEANT to be a research tool. There is no concept of "right" in the context of a ChatGPT output because that is not what ChatGPT is designed to do. It doesn't give you "right" or "wrong"; it gives you words that sound natural ... to a limited extent.

If all you need is output that sounds natural, regardless of the content, that is what ChatGPT can do.

If you need specific content, if you need research, facts, math, conclusions, actual THOUGHT applied to something, ChatGPT quite literally cannot do that.

If the output is sounding to you like it HAS done that, then that is the insidiousness of ChatGPT's lies.

If your teachers and professors actually advocate for ChatGPT, they are failing their job. You should care about that, because you're paying for them to develop your skills.

You should also care about that because that line of (zero) critical thought will give us "professionals" in industries who generate critically important documents which have hidden falsehoods and errors, which other people and other industries will rely upon.

If you want your leaders and researchers and officers and reporters and everybody else to give you imaginary information, then this is definitely the path we should be on.

This was never an issue with calculators.

going zip lining and having the cute instructor not only make conversation with me during the wait times but also having to straddle me while trying to catch me after getting to one of the platforms was not on my trip bucket list

#i'm so glad that my parents weren't there when we went BECAUSE- #my guys he was straddling me for a good five minutes because he wasn't able to harness me #when i got to the buffer he tried to clip me in but wasn't able to so he had to hold onto my harness #but then that didn't work because i kept going backwards every time he tried to clip me on so he had to half straddle my legs #that held me in place and he tried to clip me but he wasn't able to and i started going back even farther bc the clip hit my harness #since i was going back even further what does he do? #HE HALF STRADDLES MY LEGS but he kept a good distance from me so that i wasn't too close to him or anything #BUT IT GETS WORSE BC HE WASN'T ABLE TO CLIP ME ON SO HE HAD TO PULL ME CLOSER #at this point he was literally sitting on me while we were in air #AND HE KEPT SQUEEZING HIS LEGS AROUND ME SO THAT HE COULD HOLD ON BETTER I'M SO- #he finally managed to pull me closer and clip on the harness and then pull me back to the platform #he kept apologising to me whenever he had to get closer which i found really sweet lol #i had to look everywhere but straight ahead or down because it was awkward to look anywhere else #but he was a very sweet person in general and kept talking to me whenever he could so yay me :D #rose rants
