waiii happy new year! love love love your works, ive been a huge fan of urs since 2016 and its my first time sending in a prompt im so excited ajdjjqnss!!!!!!!😭❤️❤️
could i request some lonqu hurt comfort??!?! maybe something to do with self sacrifice....like robin pleading the enemy to let go of him when theyre both captured hehe! thanks so much >_<
(Finally finished this one and I'm thrilled to put it out !! Nothing like a stressed out Lonk U V U )
You didn’t know how you got into this situation. Neither you nor your husband. It was a simple reconnaissance mission, venturing a few miles into enemy territory in an attempt to figure out what they were plotting.
It was already risky since you were short-staffed, and with your exceptional analytical abilities, you’d be able to figure out what was going on the fastest.
Lon’qu wasn’t going to let you go in by yourself, and he definitely didn’t trust Gaius with your safety; he might be sneakier, but he was much more laissez-faire with the lives of others than he was comfortable with.
And so it was just the two of you. Lon’qu had stuck to your side the entire time, watching for threats while you took down hastily scribbled, imperative notes. But all it took was one silent assassin that was able to go undetected…and suddenly, you were both bound and forced to your knees.
“Well, well…whatever do we have here?” Orton’s voice was more than recognizable; the slimey rat that had escaped your justice when you first rescued Maribelle, not long ago.
You struggled against your restraints, recognizing the unmistakable bloodlust in the bastard’s eyes.
“I’m sure Lord Gangrel will be quite pleased with the little rabbit caught in our snare. This one is new, though.”
He eyed your husband, “Bring along some cannon fodder?”
“Leave him alone. He’s got nothing to do with me or any of this.” You glared at him, earning a glance from Lon’qu. What were you talking about?
“I doubt that very much, Tactician. There must be some reason he’s tagged along with you all the way out here…far from safety.”
He brandished his polearm, the tip pointed inches from Lon’qu’s face. The blood in your veins burned hotter.
“A soldier, assigned to me for protection. Nothing more. I’m the one you want, not him.”
“Robin-”
“Let him go, and I’ll come willingly.” You demanded, not skipping a beat. Lon’qu’s expression was difficult to read. But the fear that flashed in his eyes was immediate, and impossible for you to miss.
Orton laughed, turning the spear to you, instead.
“I don’t think you’re in any position to negotiate, girl. But I respect the attempt.”
He nodded to one of the soldiers behind you both, and immediately there was a painful yank on your arms, forcing you back from Lon’qu.
“Hey!!” He barked out, ready to lunge in spite of his predicament. Instead he was pulled the opposite direction, separating the two of you.
“You know what I think?” Orton mused, spinning the weapon in his hands. “I think he’s more important than ‘some soldier’. I think he’s a lot stronger than you’re pretending he is.”
“Leave him be, and I’ll tell you anything you want to know. I’m Chrom’s right-hand; there's more than enough that I can give him.”
“Really? You’d sell out the crown over one paltry soldier?” He narrowed his eyes at Lon’qu, who fought so very hard not to let your facade be for nothing.
He was glaring sharply at you, pleading with you not to make a foolish deal.
“It is a captain’s duty to protect her soldiers; no matter how small.” You spoke with conviction,  “Surely you can understand that, as an honorable military man, yourself?”
“I’d be lying if I said Milord felt similarly about the lesser of our ranks, but…I cannot say no to such an alluring deal. Leave that one, boys- the mountain lions will get to him before anyone else does. Take her away.”
“Stop! Damn you-!!” Lon’qu roared, fighting against his restraints. He was only pulled further away. His arms twisted painfully behind him, dragged further and further away from his wife.
You could only watch as he was flung from your view, sent crashing down the ravine into and out of sight. It was scafrier when you couldn’t hear him.
It took everything in your power not to try and reach him. To fight back and rescue him.
“Now then, Tactician; I believe I was promised some answers.”
The paralyzing fear was the only thing that kept you from lashing out; the swirl of endless emotions was stalling your mind. All you could do was stare at the ravine, getting further away with every drag across the dirt.
You hoped Lon’qu’s head would pop up, revealing him waiting for you and preparing to save you from your enemies,
But no such surprises would occur.
You still stared after that empty place, waiting with baited breath for the man to appear who would not return.
At least…not right away.
But there was nothing you could do but wait and pray that he hadn’t died after that nasty throw. There wasn’t much else available to you.
-------------------------
“You promised to give me what I wanted. Why do you insist on silence?” Orton was growing tired of your disobedience.
He had you tied to the pole of some ratty tent, interrogating you without  a hint of mirth in his eyes.
“You promised not to hurt my soldier, but you condemned him to death anyways. What right do you have to ask me questions?”  You spat, earning a click of his tongue and a slap across your face.
Enough of this arrogance!! You are in no position to hold such arrogance- you do not have the upper hand, woman!”
You fought hard not to focus on the stinging pain in your cheek; he’d drawn blood and all but numbed the side of your face.
Who knew those bastards could pack such a wallop?
“I can only tell you…what I know…which is very little. The Fire Emblem is a sacred artifact to the royal family, and it is hidden somewhere that none can find, unless Exalt Emmeryn reveals-!!”
You were cut off by another strike, this one sending you headfirst into the ground. The ringing in your ears grew louder, your vision clouded and blurry. That definitely wasn’t a good sign.
“If you don’t stop playing foolish games, then you’re going back in a casket. I planned to deliver the head tactician to King Gangrel in one piece, but if he knew how infuriating you are, he’d have you brought to him in pieces!!”
The man spat at your feet, stalking away to try and regain himself.
You did make an effort to focus on his words, but it was so very difficult. After a few deep breaths and a number of colorful expletives left his mouth, Orton stopped his pacing and returned his focus on you.
Maybe it’s because you were tired of looking at him, but you found yourself looking past him and at the guards by the tent entrance as his ugly boots came back into view.
“I’ve been more than patient with you, wench- but I’m running out of options on how to deal with you, and you’re running out of time.”
There was a sudden shift in the colors of the bushes behind a guard. A bright blue and red appeared behind the green.
You blinked, brow furrowing in an attempt to focus your vision. A pair of hands had shot out from the leaves and grabbed the man, mouth covered so as not to allow a shout. The other guard and Orton…didn’t notice.
You must have been hallucinating.
“I want the location of the Emblem.” He spoke again, louder and closer than before. He hadn’t noticed that one of the soldiers had disappeared.
Your gaze flicked to the other man standing just the opposite, confused by the fact he was now standing alone.
Within an instant, a dart stuck into his neck, and he crumpled. A shadowy figure caught him, dragging him away.
You couldn’t even think to react to what you were seeing. Orton’s hand was on your face, grip tight and painful on your jaw to force you to look at him.
“You’re not getting away. Stop looking outside.” He grinned viciously, “The only chance you’re getting out of here alive is if you give me what I want.”
He stared down at you, grinning wickedly. His grip was so tight it felt like he was going to crack your bones.
“Now…tell me. Where is the Fire-”
The tip of a blade broke through his armor, silencing him with a wet choke. Your eyes widened, staring in shock at the sword mere inches from your own body.
“W-what…did you…”
He crumpled to the ground when the sword was pulled from his chest. When he fell away, Lon’qu stood over him, raging fury in his eyes.
“Oh my gods-” You gasped, stunned at what you were seeing. “L-Lon’qu?”
“I’m here.” He closed the distance between you, throwing the blood from his sword before cutting away your bindings.
As soon as you were free of the ropes your arms were flung around his neck. Lon’qu grunted from the impact, welcoming the embrace all the same.
He squeezed you close, his face pressed to your neck.
“Are you hurt?”
“No, I’m-” You were suddenly jerked back, Lon’qu holding you an arm’s length away to search you over. “Wait, w-why are you asking about me? They threw you down a ravine!!”
“Shepherds found me. They were on our trail when they realized we weren’t in the headcount.” He nodded his head back, and you were able to make out the shapes of Gaius and Cordelia, the few who passed by the tent to secure whatever camp the Plegians had brought you to.
“So you’re okay?”
“I am. But...” He nodded, but the sharp glare in his eyes had yet to dissipate. “I can’t believe you.”
“What?”
“How could you do that?” He glowered, his grip tightening on your arms. “How could you give yourself up like that? The hells is wrong with you?!”
“I wanted to protect you.” He scoffed at your response, harsh and bitter. “If I knew he was going to try and kill you anyways, I-I never would have-”
“It doesn’t matter. You bargained your life, when you know damn well that I-!”
“Lon’qu, we couldn’t find her in the camp! Did you- oh!! Oh, thank the gods!!” Your husband was cut off at the sound of Chrom’s voice, the prince thrilled to see you were here.
The Myrmidon spared you one last glower, before he pulled back, letting Chrom and Lissa flurry past him.
You bit your lip, trying to fight the urge to press the argument. He looked deeply upset, and you didn’t want to cut it off before it could be resolved. There was nothing worse than letting him stew in his hurt.
“It’s okay, Robin!! We’re here now! Lon’qu led the  way, and the whole camp’s cleared out! Though we’ll need to do something about that body…”
“We’ll worry about Orton and the rest later. Lissa, can you heal her quickly?” Chrom asked his sister, who already had the stave pulled out and glowing.
“You got it! Just hang tight for a second Robin, we’ll get you out of here in no time!”
It wasn’t yourself that had your mind occupied. It was the fact that Lon’qu stormed out of the tent without looking back that had your focus.
Lissa gave you a pitying look, the healing glow of the stave some comfort.
“Sorry, Robin. I/…we tried really hard to keep him calm. But he’s been angry since the second we found him.”
“Not angry.” Chrom sighed , following the man’s storm from the tent. “Scared.”
-------------------------
When everyone made it back to camp, many of your dear friends who had been so terribly worried were awash with relief.
There was a mild swarm, a million questions being flung at you, but you were simply glad to be back in the arms of your friends.
You did your best to answer as many questions as you could,, but it didn’t take long for your patience to run thin.
Sure, you were healed and feeling far better physically, but there was a deeply hurt man on the far side of camp that you needed to speak to. It was clear what your decision had done created a much bigger issue than anticipated.
So you took a deep breath, steeled yourself, and made your way over to your shared tent. You could hear the sound of steel being sharpened against a whetstone, but little else.
Lon’qu was absolutely steaming. You would tease him and categorize it as sulking, but you figured it best not to try your luck.
Not when there was a serious issue to resolve.
Wordlessly, you entered the tent, making sure to latch it shut behind you. He was kind enough not to lock you out, at least.
“Lon’qu…” He did not stop his work when you called him, his back to you. “We need to talk.”
He did not answer. The stone ground against the blade harder.
“Please, love, I…I’m sorry I hurt you. But I need you to understand why I made that decision. I was trying to protect you.”
This seemed to slow the grinding. He still did not look at you. With a deep breath, you crossed the tent, coming to sit behind him.
Tentatively, your hand touched his back. He did not recoil, which was an improvement; at least he was receptive.
“If they knew you were my husband, they would’ve used you against me. If I let them carry on, they would’ve killed you in cold blood as a simple guard. I…I just…I didn’t think they’d toss you into the ravine like that. I thought you’d be safe.”
Lon’qu shook his head, his grip tightening on the sword. “They’re the enemy. Why the hells would they keep their word?? Surely you knew better than to trust them.”
“It was all I had to ensure your safety. W-when they threw you over the ledge, I…I saw it. I thought that it was over…I t-thought they killed you.”
Lon’qu’s shoulders braced against your touch, feeling your forehead touch his back. You were leaning fully into him, trying desperately not to cry.
“I-it was my fault that you were…that you were in danger in the first place. If I’d been more v-vigilant, I wouldn’t have put you at risk. I wanted to protect you, Lon’qu…please…please understand.”
He sighed, turning slowly and taking your hands into his and pulling you away from his body. He looked at you directly, but the bitter sting wasn’t present in his glare anymore.
“I don’t blame you for this. It wasn’t your fault we were ambushed. I’m upset because you bargained your life for mine. You are not worth less than I am. You have no right to sacrifice yourself for me.”
“I have every right, as your wife.” You argued, squeezing his hands, “And even in that, I failed you. I thought…”
“Robin...” He squeezed your hands, “I understood your intent. But if I’d lost you in that moment, I wouldn’t have forgiven myself, either. Your right to protect me reflects on me, too. It’s my duty to keep you safe. You know my past. Do you really think that I would be okay with you giving your life for mine?”
“It…it didn’t phase me in that moment. What mattered more was making sure that my husband would still be here.”
“You think I would be different? If I was in the same situation, I wouldn’t put my life in front of yours?” Lon’qu was staring into your very soul; trying desperately to make sure you understood what he was feeling. “After everything I’ve been through- what I’ve suffered- you would have me relive it again?”
“No.” You leaned closer, holding his hands to your chest. “No, I wouldn’t. And I’m so sorry that I put that fear in your heart, again. I just want to protect you, because I love you.”
Lon’qu nodded, his gaze falling to the ground. You released his hands so you might wrap your arms around his shoulders, drawing him into your embrace.
“I love you so much, I can’t bear the thought of losing you. And I know you would’ve done the same for me. We have to look out for each other…and we can’t always be safe. But I swear to you, I don’t want to throw my life away. I want to share it with you, more than anything.”
Slowly, finally, he returned your embrace, squeezing you tightly for fear of you ever slipping through his fingers again.
He hated feeling this way- that fear would consume him when it came to you. How badly he didn’t want to lose you.
His face pressed against your neck, all but engulfing you in his arms like a shroud that cloaked your whole body.
“I love you, too.”
He felt the slightest tremors in response to his words. How your fingers curled into his tunic, clinging to him with just as much force.
You were everything to each other, reminded and reassured through the tears that slipped from your eyes as feverish kisses connected over and over again.
There were promises to be more cautious with your lives, to find ways to protect one another without putting yourselves in mortal danger…and at the very least, employ some stealth training with Gaius so you could sneak around without “foolishly” (Gaius teased) getting caught again.
Which was a fair argument, if you were being honest.

Ah shit, sorry for disappearing.
Frederick: Say no to drugs.
Henry: Say yes to drugs.
Lon'qu: It doesn’t matter what you say to drugs.
Lon'qu: Because if you're talking to drugs, you’re taking drugs.
Nowi: You don’t think I can fight because I’m a girl.
Gangrel: I don’t think you can fight because your in a wedding dress. For what its worth, I don’t think Gregor  can fight in a dress either.
Gregor: Perhaps not. But Gregor would make a radiant bride.
Virion: Did it hurt?
Sully, sighing: When I fell from heaven-
Virion: When you feel from the vending machine.
Sully:
Virion: ‘Cause your a snack
(cuts to her kicking him in the face-)
`` I hate it when people ask me; “ Whats the stupidest thing you’ve ever done? “ Like. Awfully bold of you to assume i’ve reached peak dumbass. `` Chrom, probably-
Lissa: Lon'qu I can't sleep.. There's something in the woods
Lon'qu, handing her a sword: This should do the trick then.
Lon'qu: Hey dad
Robin, following him inside: Hello
Stahl, also following: Whats up
Basilio: Hello adopted son and his two friends who never seem to hang out at their own homes
Chrom: There's only one thing worse than dying
Chrom: *Rips off paper to reveal "Robin dying"* Boom.
Robin: Me.
Chrom: NO!
Robin: We're throwing a surprise party for Validar.
Lucina: You hate Validar-
Robin, filling the balloons with bees: Yes.

for the fe asks do all the couple questions lol
AHHHH ANON TYSM FOR THE VALIDATION!!!!!
16. Favourite couple. is there any couple that matters except for robin x chrom? i know we all married chrom on our first playthrough though so my go-to spouse for robin after chrom has gotta be henry <3
17. Favourite couple (your MUxSpouse excluded). ok listen i know i just said i ship chrobin and we all do ofc, but you can't convince me that chrom x olivia isn't canon. also i had my doubts about stahl and tharja but i must thank the fandom for convincing me to pair them up in my latest run <3
18. Worst couple you've ever put together. oh DEFINITELY inigo x nah. that was an actual trainwreck.
19. Most crazy couple. i feel the need to reiterate that inigo x nah was a trainwreck. actually most of inigo's supports involve the female unit going full yandere on him which is not cool
20. Overrated couple. uhhhh i think most of the overrated couples in fe are couples that i also ship LOL the only one i can think of is gerome x inigo i guess. they get a lot of shippy art from the fanbase but i don't really like them ngl. i think it's bc the few jeroazu fics i've read characterized gerome as a complete asshat and i just didn't vibe w that
21. Underrated couple. idk how popular they are but i would like to call everyone's attention to miriel and vaike's supports. i stand by my opinion that they have the best supports in the entire game, i'm physically incapable of pairing them up with anyone else now </3
22. A couple you’d make happen if at least one of the characters wasn’t in a more preferred relationship. henry x lissa have really cute supports but lissa x lonqu belong together 🥺
25. Favourite couple among the children. inigo x lucina!!!! i love them so much!!! but i normally make inigo chrom's son so after that i love inigo x f!morgan (except i never play m!robin so i can't pair them up either 😭)

[favorite characters] + Fire emblem awakening + pairing systems
Tumblr media
I don’t think much else needs to be said. Chrom is one of the leading characters in this tactical rpg for 3Ds and definitely one that’s become an easy and insta favourite
“ It’s not your fault”
dashing honourable swordsman-prince; firm and fair, competent leader; doer, loyalty, wisdom and belief in people; kindness; good brother, great father; takes care of people.
though I generally prefer Japanese voice acting, in this particular case the English one fits much better.
I like Chrom x female Robin best.  Morgan has some really nice father x son support covos with Chrom to boot, I love them.
I have  always liked brooding swordsmen like Dias in Star Ocean 2 but i kinda haven’t been very good with upbeat boyish heros like Claude in Star Ocean or the lead boy-heroes in Lunar silver Star. A character like Chrom combines those two  and I find that appealing. He retains a bit of boyishness but he’s both firm and fair, but also more open  and positive while remaining strong and cool.  So, he is well written (this is important) and well acted. And very well animated. Those movie sequences in FE are pretty cool.  Below the cut I just add some longer comments on FE:Aw and some other favourite pairings.  I’m glad I could play this, bonding definitely made tactics more fun,  and the game is very fun. Th selection of characters in Awakening is very appealing , they are all likeable and fun to try, and i like this storyline.
 I love
Frederick/Miriel  and love Fredericks interactions with their son, Laurent
female Robin/Chrom,  and love their kids, but especially Chrom x morgan support convos - especially the A rank one which validateds morgan as Chrom’s natural son. It was absolutely delightful.
Panne/Viron and their son is a riot.
and actually Lonqu and Lissa..
these are some of the purest, lovely love stories .I love pure, loyal and honorable and I got that here, though I frankly didn’t expect it. Love them a lot.
I bond Chrom mostly with female Robin (player character / avatar / tactician - thie posisbility to cusotmize is the main character is  very nice for this game ) since story makes more sense for me and I like it that way, even more so since this combo works very well in battles and for story reasons, since Chrom shows a lot o support and belief in Robin ad the story is emotional.  But I’ll  probably try other female bonds for Chrom one day.
I really do enjoy this bonding system in FE - it’ really makes the game fun. Relationshis in this game are built throug battle and conversations.  The more you fight together, the stronger the bond and it unlocks suport conversations that are either friendship or romance-oriented.  The conversations are a nice touch, add  very enjoyable stories and also relationships have tactical advantages, add stat boosts. There’s strength is in being together, together we can do more than alone - I love that thought.    The marriages unlock second generations and you can bond with them too. And that’s a lot of fun .  Other than Robin/Chrom, my other favourite pairing for story reasons is Frederick / Miriel and son Laurent. I love them, their conversations were great, Frederick is a great guy, he draws out their feelings (which both Miriel and Laurent tend to hide) and encouragres to be more relaxed. Absolutely love them. It’s even worth the while to step on the sparkly event tiles with Frederick/Miriel. They really have some very sweet exchanges. I think i also like virion and the taguel woman, they are interesting together and ave some fun conversarions and their son is a bundle of joy lol. And there’s Lisa and Lonqu. works out very well for me, those two.  Beyond these three pairings, I have no more strong favourites for now, but the choice of characters is great and fun. you have to be careful when recruiting a lot of them, too. a lot are encountered during missions and If they disappear or die before you finish a level, you obviously won’t be able to recruit, it’s fun this way. It’s a great game and the fun lies in trying  out the pairings. .For me, story and  interactions tend to decide how i pair, especially if I find some I particularly like, like with Robin/Chrom and Frederick/Miriel.
Another good thing is that there are different modes of playing, including a casual mode in which units won’t perish forever so gameplay is more comfortable for newbies like me who first need to learn the ropes and/or just want to enjoy it without worrying about needless deaths.   The tactics have been made more fun and engrossing thanks to this and the bonding system.
Bonding is not new to rpgs, obviously and wherever it appeared, I was always into it because I felt it  may enrich the narrative or make things more fun, like it does here.  Whereas games like Lunar Silver Star, had  couples written into storyline s(and they were lovely,) other jrpgs tried to build  bonding systems too. But, I think fire emblem combines both such trraditions and worked it out  the best in a way that doesn’t invalidate any choice, at least I don’t think so.  Thats very important because  In jrpgs like Star ocean 2 (which I liked of course, it was quite sweeping), , bonding felt a bit like an after-thought when canonical pairings were still forced in most situations and as a result bonding system felt short of my expectations, overall star ocean 2 kinda failed my expectations in that respect.  Predominantly, I feel, becuase it tried doing too much, lik adding malke and female character, something that fire emblem made work without a hitch.  Yes, it did what it could with its amibtion to play as both female and male character,  it’s a lot of work but still. Well, fortunately, fire emblem pulls that off very well, improving on what I thought was missed opportunity for Star Ocean (especially 2).  and I really appreciate it, it’s fun to look at different game features and bonding systems are one of the more fun aspects, especially this one in FE.  This is tremendous amount of work and to do it well, there has to be a lot of care. And I think  they did it, I feel like they found a really good way, worked it out so it works for everything and “canons” don’t seme to matter and every possible pairing seems ok.  “Different timelines” is a justification I personally enjoy for a lot of things and this one plays a factor here too.  Really fun overall and I’m really happy with it.  I may not be interested in playing ALL titles in the franchise in the future but if there’s another with equally engrossing, appealing characters with lot of charisma and honour and loyalty, good production values and good story like here then I will. I have already played Fates and while I prefer Awakening a little more (even f Fates are more expanded gameplaywise), Fate alo has a few favourite characters, farther x sons and romantic ships. I really like Xander x female Corrin, for one. I’ll get to write about it later.

Ok but imagikne a Xanlow au where Basilio and Flavia are overprotective grandparents, and Chrom is concerned dad, and Robin and LonQue are judging uncle's with hyperoverprotective Big Sis Lucina. They don't know who this strange Prince is, or where this "Nohr" is, all they know is their little dancer boy and his cousin had disappeared and suddenly he reappeared with a son and daughter while being held in the arms of a strange man!
Admittedly, I have a bit of trouble picturing this one, haha. Mostly because I’m not actually into the overprotective tropes when it comes to family “You better never hurt X ever or else” kind of thing? I like protective tropes in action stories and “I must save X” or pushing someone out of danger and taking the hit yourself. That sort of thing I enjoy a ton! But in the past, a lot of the “Who are you and what are your intentions with my sibling/friend/child/etc” tropes come off as kind of condescending? Toward the person they’re supposedly looking out for and kind of ignores their autonomy to run their own life by their choices? And also the “protector” comes off as more aggressive than they should be, a lot of the time. When I’ve read it in the past, it’s almost always left a bad taste in my mouth with how it was handled. So if I’m having trouble with this one, it’s not you, anon. It’s just personal preference! (Plus I’m not sure how well overprotective lines up with some of their personalities, unfortunately).
That said! Chrom!Inigo showing up with kids and a new husband after having disappeared for some number of years? Bound to have some questions! Chrom is probably the most naturally concerned since he is Inigo’s dad in this scenario, lol. I’m sure there’s some explaining to do! But after everything is settled and all the information sinks in fully, I’m sure they make an effort to get to know Xander + the kids and everything they’ve missed out on after all this time! Maybe it’s a little slow going at first since everyone doesn’t really know where they stand + all the differences between Ylisse and Nohr, the then and now. But eventually I’m sure they all get along just fine!

hiyaaaa!!!!!! happy new year hehe, do you have any more lonqu angst to share? thanks sm!
(Have some crit injury angst with our dear Lonk, to kick off the new year!! ;; U ;; )
You and Lon’qu were both gifted with the sword. But this was just one of those moments that his skills faltered. It was rare that such a thing would happen; he was always on his toes, always vigilant, looking out for himself and for you, but... this time, it just slipped.
You spotted the lance-wielding enemy before Lon’qu did, and he was targeting your husband. There wasn’t any time to make a decision.
The weapon was thrown before you could make a sound.
You launched forward, shoved Lon’qu out of the way, and then... all you felt was pain.
Red colored your vision as you crumpled to the dirt, your fingers closing numbly around the lance that jutted out from your middle.
In the back of your mind, you thought it lucky you weren’t pierced through the chest.
Lon’qu, however, felt very differently.
He hit the dirt before you had, snapping around just in time to watch the lance impale you. He had never known fear like he did in that very moment.
“NO!!”
An unholy roar ripped from his mouth, launching himself mercilessly at his attacker. His blade smashed again and again into the lancer’s defenses, until the opening broke through and his sword brought down an angry vengeance upon the villain.
Blood spattered his clothes as he cut the man down, panting heavily as he struggled to regain himself.
As soon as the body fell, Lon’qu abandoned it and darted back to you. He closed a hand around the lance, eyes wide with an unfathomable fear.
“Robin... !!” He gasped your name, his hands trembling violently. He had seen this all before. When he was younger, and careless. It was Ke’ri all over again.
But this time it was his wife.
“Lon... y-you... ?” You couldn’t form a sentence without coughing up blood. Lon’qu’s fear exploded, and he struggled to keep it together.
He grabbed the lance once more before he grit his teeth and pulled it out in one clean motion. The look of sheer pain on your face would haunt him as you arched your back, unable to even cry out.
He wasted no time, tearing off his belts and tunic and wrapping the cloth around your wound in an attempt to stop the bleeding.
“HEALER!!”
Lon’qu’s shout was foreign to your ears. You never heard him raise his voice before. When he looked at you, it was even more disconcerting.
He had never looked so terrified, before.
“Hold on... ” He growled behind clenched teeth, the quaking of his limbs around you keeping you tethered to reality. “Hold on... please... ”
“Lon’qu... ” You reached up to touch his face, but your fingers never quite met his skin. The world faded to black as your body went limp in his arms.
You weren’t awake to hear him crying your name.
---------------
Libra had never seen Lon’qu act as he did when you were brought to the healing tent. He sat there, rigid as stone as he hunched over your cot, not once leaving your side.
He wouldn’t eat, nor sleep. He didn’t even change out of his armor, or the tunic stained in blood that Libra could only assume was yours. He had clung to you so tightly he nearly fought Libra when he tried to take you.
He refused to leave when the healers came in to dress your wound and refresh the bandages. His glare bored holes into the ghastly mark, the gash surrounded by angry red skin and a terribly sensitive bruising.
Lissa couldn’t bring herself to look at it, so it was up to Lissa and Libra to take care of you, for the most part. Them, and Lon’qu’s constant presence.
The priest had never pegged Lon’qu to be such a clingy lover, but then again, he didn’t know anything about the man’s past. He had no idea what he’d been through.
But you did.
That was what Lon’qu couldn’t understand. You knew what happened to Ke’ri. You knew how important your life was to him; how precious each moment was.
For you to throw that away because of one  attack he didn’t see was vexing. It was blood-boilingly infuriating. His fists were clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white, every muscle tensed in his body.
He wanted answers, but mostly... he wanted you to wake up.
Lon’qu shook his head, his eyes hidden as his bangs fell over them. He bowed his head, grimacing to himself as he felt the fears bubbling in his chest, again.
What if you didn’t wake up? What if he never got to hold you again, or tell you that he loved you? Those long nights of comfort, being coaxed back to sleep by your sweet words and tender touches after being plagued by nightmares– he couldn’t lose that. If he lost his sole purpose to live, he couldn’t go on.
Thankfully, he wouldn’t have to.
It started with a twitch of your little finger. Then your eyelashes fluttered, and a soft groan strained past your lips. Your brow furrowed, your breathing picked up, and you struggled to wake up.
Lon’qu sat stock straight in his seat, staring at you with wide eyes. You were finally waking up.
“Robin... ?” His voice was hoarse as he whispered your name, reaching out to take hold of your hand. His fingers trembled around yours as he clutched your little hand, watching as your eyes slowly opened.
You blinked once, twice, three times before you looked to your side, meeting your husband’s gaze for the first time in days. Your vision was a bit blurred, but it wasn’t hard to see how rough he looked. It was as if he hadn’t taken care of himself for days.
“Lon’qu,” You croaked his name, but that was as far as you got. He didn’t even let you get past two syllables before his arms were around you, and he drew you into his chest with such firmness you were completely shocked.
It was a lucky thing Libra had applied the numbing salve to your wound; in Lon’qu’s rush to embrace you, you were sure it would’ve caused a great deal of pain otherwise.
“You’re awake-!” He choked out, his voice a gravelly growl of emotion. He buried his face in your hair, hunched over as he took you in. “I thought... I thought it would be Ke’ri all over again, but... it couldn’t be you. Not you, too.”
“Oh, love.” You mumbled, your fingers curled into his tunic as you felt the droplets wet your bandages.
You slipped slender, weak fingers through his hair, holding him as tight as you could as he shivered and shook around you.
He cupped the back of your head, squeezing you tight as his brow furrowed against his tears.
“Gods, you... s-scared the hells out of me. I thought you were... you w-were... ”
“I’ve never heard you... t-talk so much.” You coughed out something between a laugh and a wheeze, drawing back to coax him to look at you. With gentle hands, you brushed the tears away, trying to draw his downcast gaze to yours.
“Robin... ”
“I-I’m sorry... I didn’t want to scare you.” You whispered, your fingers slowly falling from his cheek before he caught your hand, drawing your hand back to his face and leaning against it. You could feel his own fingers quaking around yours.
“You did more than scare me. I... it was Ke’ri, again. I saw her, in- I saw in you what... t-the... y-your face, your... your b-body, it-”
Lon’qu cut off as the tears ran over your skin, large and hot as they soaked your skin. Lon’qu’s shoulders hunched as he bowed his head deeper, trying to hide the obvious from you to no avail.
Your vision blurred as the sorrow welled in your eyes, seeing just how frightened he was.
“Oh, Lon’qu... I just... wanted to protect you. I didn’t mean to t-traumatize you all over again, I... ” You whimpered, “I-I love you so much, I just... didn’t want to lose you.”
Lon’qu nodded, bit his lip and then shook his head. He came down beside you, burying his head in your shoulder, releasing your hand so that he could gingerly take you into his arms.
As if you were made of glass, and the slightest touch would break you.
“Oh, m-my love... I am so, so... so sorry.” You sobbed, the pain quickly ignored as you comforted your husband. He could only nod against you, trying desperately to keep his own whimpers from breaking past his lips.
He loved you more than he’d ever be able to put into words. There was nothing he could say to you that would be enough to convey how he cared about you. Nothing in the world would be worse than losing you.
Even though he couldn’t convey it, you never once doubted it. You took several precautions to avoid such a tragedy, training by his side to become twice as swift and sturdy, just as he did for you.
Never would you let him cry another tear for you. Not like that.

Any head cannonsfor Lon'qu x Olivia? Mine is that Lon'qu tries to learn how to dance and asks Olivia to teach him, as he thinks it will enhance his mobility when in battle, but like Soliel he's HORRIBLE at it. (Which is why Soliel can't dance for me since this is my main pairing with Olivia other than male Robin)
THIS WAS MY FIRST OTP OK I HAVE FEELS
FIRST OFF
Tumblr media
My friend over at @bishojokitsune made these for me and I love this pair so much.
So headcanons!
Lon’qu is super fast on the battlefield, but also really reckless and gets hurt a lot. One day someone ambushes Olivia while she’s dancing for Lon’qu to reinvigorate them and she dodges all the attacks, but fend them off.
Lon’qu can’t dodge, but Olivia struggles with a sword (like have you seen the animation for default Dancer Olivia when she attacks? It looks so awkward).
So they decide to give each other respective lessons.
Olivia has a great range of motion from dancing so Lon’qu starts her off with a rapier so she can learn to fence and combine it with her style. She’s a natural.
Lon’qu has great form, but not flexibility. He’s stiff as a board. So Olivia dances with him to relax him. She thinks it’s the flowing movement of the dances that makes him relax, but really, it’s her presence more so than anything else.
Lon’qu is an early riser. He loves to get up for training. Olivia is a surprisingly grumpy riser, and Lon’qu does his best to avoid waking her.
Olivia bakes sweets for Lon’qu all the time. He hates to admit it, but he loves to doting and attention.
Lonqu’s gift giving strategy is to find something practical. He’ll buy new swords and boots and the like.
Basilio and Flavia LOVE to dote on the happy couple. They go out on family camping trips when they get the chance, and Inigo joins too.
Basilio tries to get them to get in touch with their “Feroxi Roots” even though neither of them are native born to Regna Ferox.
This means drinking mead.
Lon’qu NEVER drinks mead (it’s canon. His support with Gregor during the Harvest Festival). Olivia’s a lightweight, but the biggest shocker of the evening comes when Lon’qu decides just this once he’ll have a drink.
And he’s more of a lightweight than Olivia! They’re both sappy drunks and love to dote on each other.
Peep his A support with Inigo, Lon’qu is ticklish and whenever he’s being too stubborn and trying to train even though he should be sleeping, Olivia will pounce on him and tickle his sides. “You can’t train, silly, look how tired you are after all that!”
When Laslow returns, he and Soleil join their camping trips, and they become the most doting grandparents when they’re drunk. Especially Lon’qu. He’s so proud to see how good his granddaughter is with a sword. And she has his voice and dancing skill to boot.
