Slightly enamoured by the idea that Bruce leaves Clark secret, romantic messages microscopically encoded in the punctuation of reports he gives him, under the pretense of Clark checking them over.

yoohoo!!! @nabi004 and @mialuna4 and that one anon!!! sick angel request!!! many thanks for the love <3
14 Days With You is an 18+ Yandere Visual Novel. MINORS DNI
~A Sick Angel~
“Can you please—”
“No.”
The past few minutes had been like talking to a brick wall. [REDACTED] hadn't let you move an inch from the bed since you’d woken up in an agonizing daze.
Sure, you felt like complete shit, maybe a little on the side of a fever. And the moment you sat up you wanted to scream. But it was manageable. If you tried, you'd be able to make it through a day at the library.
Blue eyes quickly narrowed, as if they knew exactly what you were thinking. It was frustrating how stubborn they could be when he wanted to.
You attempted to frown at your companion. Nothing really changed about your haggard expression—thanks to your face and entire body feeling like dead weight—but your tone worked well enough. “I need to go to work today.”
“Not happening,” he insisted as he reached up to your forehead.
You closed your eyes for just a second. His cold palm against your brow was too heavenly to ignore. “I don't want to let Elanor down. Today's really important for her,” you croaked.
They didn't bother to hide the momentary disgust in their tone at the mention of your coworker. “She wouldn't want y’working either, Angel.” As if to prove his point, they tapped away on your phone. He'd been holding it hostage behind his back.
Only a minute later, it dinged with a response and he finally held it out to you. Elanor had sent a polite and elaborate text as always. You read through it while he continued to run both of their cold hands over your heated face like two makeshift ice packs.
Good morning, [REDACTED]. At least I assume so from how brief that message was? Thank you for letting me know Y/N is ill! I'm sure they must be worried about missing today's event but we can handle it just fine! And I’m happy to take some pictures for them! Please take good care of them and give my well wishes. Regards, Elanor.
You raised an eyebrow and scrolled back up to the paltry message he'd sent her.
sick no work
Somehow, it was probably the nicest thing they'd ever managed to send any of your friends. You looked back up at him with what was meant to be a pout. “Okay then.”
With instant trust in your word, he stood up to leave the room. He soon returned with his arms full. A cold compress, medicine, some drinks, and anything else they thought you might need. You lightly rolled your neck and resigned to your fate as a patient when he sat next to you. The medicine and drink he offered were swallowed without fuss on your part, then you laid down. The throbbing pain already seemed to calm as you did.
The compress stayed at his side instead of being placed on your forehead like you thought. You felt their hand on your cheek yet again, a more noticeable chill to his rough skin this time.
“Just in case it feels too cold f’you,” he explained before you even asked.
It felt perfect, so you didn't mind at all. You practically purred in relief at the gentle circles they rubbed. You tiredly looked up to him as you complained, if only to tease them, “I'm a little disappointed you didn't bring out the nurse outfit.”
“‘Course you are.” His eyes lit up with mischief, a knowing smile cut across his lips to match your playful one. “I'll make it up t’you when y'feel better, yeah?” Their thumb slowly traced back and forth from one corner of your mouth to the other.
“Germs, you weirdo,” you reminded him. Though you didn't bother to shake off his hand, weak as you were. “You’ll get sick.”
“Y’worried about me, love? Cute. But I promise ‘M not gonna catch whatever you have that easy.” They leaned down to kiss your flushed temple, eventually settling propped up on one arm to lay as close as possible beside you. Faintly warm breath tickled the top of your head until you drifted back to sleep under their watchful gaze.

the interpunct (also known as the interpoint, also known as the middle dot, middot, centered dot, or centred dot) is a point that looks like this [·]! the interpunct is used for a variety of things, it has a super interesting history as being used *before* the space was used for interword spacing
take a minute for that to sink in actually. · <- this bad boy was around before the FUCKING SPACE (things were written more·like·this in classical latin) isn't that wild⸮
but, i hear you say, "but punctuation completionist, why should that matter‽ you have never reblogged a post in classical latin!" and to which i say. uh rude. i could if i wanted to dude. but secondly, there are actual uses in english (and also other languages too :)
in english, the interpunct is sometimes used in place of a decimal place in formal writing. it's also been used instead of a full stop (basically a period) in certain documents historically! it is also in twitter screenshots o noticed. that's the main reason i was thinking of doing this lol Ɛ>
in other languages though it has more important usages! firstly, it's used for gender-neutral endings in french (say as in the word "musicien", the gender-neutral form would be "musicien·ne" which has the masculine form with the interpunct and then feminine ending) which is important to me specifically but it's also used in many other languages such as catalan as the punt volat, used between two l's to indicate that it is pronounced differently than the double l sound (that prononciation being called the "ela geminada" & being pronounced more like the english l as opposed to a y sound)
it's also used in chinese, hokkien, tibetan, ethiopic, franco-provençal, modern greek (as well as the classical greek), japanese, latin, and MUCH more that i literally cannot go over because there are so many uses... like so many languages use it for real. if i were to guess right now while i am not looking at the list i would guess ~15–20 languages use it. that's a lot
mostly i am just asking because it's in some twitter screenshots though :/
. ? ! , : ; – — - [ ] { } ( ) ' " ... / < >

A middle aged man stands in his bedroom. It just so happens that today, the 6th of November 2023 is the day this man resigned from the Escapist. Though it was 16 years ago he was given a job, it is only today that he will be given a name. What will the name of this man be?

Fuck It Friday
In which we continue to make slow, sporadic progress on Long Way Home.
Thank you so much @devirnis and @rewritetheending for remembering me in your tags. Someday I'll be less of a ghost.
After a moment of silence on the line, Maddie says, a little quieter, “They say it’s a better bonding experience. Just you and them. Getting to know each other without all the… whatever. You form a stronger attachment to each other.”
“Yeah?” The television screen shifts again, the camera moving away from the scene and over to the reporter, and Buck’s gaze is tugged over to it again, following the changing light automatically. It’s Taylor–one of the first times in the last couple months that she hasn’t been reporting with a hospital behind her–and Buck feels a flutter that goes beyond simple recognition to something more familiar. Like unexpectedly bumping into a friend.
“Supposed to anyway. You know you were almost born at home.”
Instantly, the television is forgotten and Buck squawks, “I was what?”
“Mmmhmm,” Maddie says, a smile underlining the sound. “It was close.”
“I- I’m trying to even picture our parents taking their shoes off in the house, let alone- How did that even happen?”
“Well it wasn’t on purpose. But you were a little early and you were the third so things… progressed a little faster than-”
Buck makes a distressed noise somewhere between “ew” and “yuck” and Maddie laughs at him out loud this time.
“Dad was out. Shopping maybe? I don’t remember. No cell phones so mom couldn’t reach him. She called 911. And they told her it was early; she had hours; they could send someone if she wanted, but it was going to take a while. And mom just… she kind of stood up straight and said, thank you very much, hung up the phone and told me and Daniel to get our shoes. Drove us all to the hospital and you were born half an hour later.”
“Wow. I can’t imagine any of that.”
“Dad was beside himself. He just kept saying “he’s not supposed to be here yet.” I think he expected the nurses to tell him there’d been a mistake.”
They laugh together at that one, at Phillip and the leather-bound planner slash diary slash address book slash security blanket that was never far out of his reach explaining that he’d had the date marked down for months and they still had two weeks left. Then Maddie says, fondly, “You were the tiniest thing I’d ever seen. You weren’t cute. You were all kind of red and scrunched, but we decided to love you anyway.”
Buck smiles, laying back down again as Maddie keeps talking.
“Daniel was convinced you were going to love him the best because you were both boys and you both had blue eyes. He said you were his baby. I think we actually started to fight about it and mom said… she said “Evan’s going to have plenty of love for all of us. He’s our miracle”.”
Just like that a pall settles over the happy scene Buck’s been recreating in his mind. Margaret holding a bundle of blankets. Phillip and Maddie leaning in, their smiles Christmas morning wide. In the background, fuzzy and indistinct, is Daniel. He’s blurry and insubstantial, a mostly blank space no matter how Buck tries to fill him in, but he bends the room around himself like a pocket of immense gravity.
It's getting late and I have no idea who has already played today so just tuck this in your pocket for later if you don't need it: @mellaithwen, @princessfbi, @bigfootsmom, @honestlydarkprincess, @messyhairdiaz, @renecdote, @sibylsleaves

Upcoming Untitled Loumand
I saw a black man dancing with his daughter at her ballet recital and decided to make it about Louis. It seemed like a misstep to turn them into Louis and Claudia because Louis is mom-coded to me. I didn't want to give Lestat the honor so I landed on Armand. But the little girl won't be Claudia. In this alternate universe, Armand is the father of twins Benjamin and Sybelle. In an attempt to be a more active father, he hires a parenting coach who suggests he enroll them in extracurricular activities. He settles on dance and drives them, along with their 2 nannies, to The Azalea Studios. A snippet from chapter 1 of ?
It’s to Armand’s understanding that the dance company makes full use of the building's seven stories. The first floor houses the souvenir, dance attire, and equipment shops, all boxing an ornate, cherry wood reception desk at the center. It's trimmed with hand-carved accents in floral motifs, scrolls and rosettes, posts and finials, and seemingly dropped here straight from a seventeenth century Parisian hotel. “I won it in the divorce, baby.” Armand’s head snaps toward the sultry, inviting voice and everything stops. Or at least he wishes so. If he could freeze the moment and bottle it, mass produce replicas so he could relive the first instance his eyes land on the beauty before him. Re-experiencing it like the very first time, at will. “Well, not just the desk, but the entire hotel. And the house too.” Louis speaks while busying his hands about the reception area. "I had the desk shipped here just for the look I see on your face now. Awe.” “Awe,” Armand repeats like his stream of consciousness evaporated into the thin air. His brain only processing raw desire, a need, for this one thing.

I've seen what I've seen. And I've been told what I've been told. And I have an audience with the person who can do something about it. To smile for a photo op and recite 64 couplets on the American experience? That's treasonous.

YAYYY MORE OF THIS SAD AU (ignore how bad the hair came out ew)
I’m gonna dump all the ideas for this au I’m not a writer so it’s disorganized if y’all have any ideas to add or to just give a whole diff version or a au where Kratos dies pls tell I love hearing them
So like Kratos dies in ragnarok by Thor like how the prophecy said (I think) and Odin pops up being like “omg finally he’s dead Thor grab Loki lol” and instead of a tryna fight Odin or Thor he tries to go to Kratos who is literally abt to take his last breath but Thor grabs him in time
And the like second odin gets his hand on the mask he takes him, Thor, and Loki to the rift thingy and forces the mask onto Atreus. The mask is like hurting Atreus and when he’s made to look into the rift he gets so much answers and information into his brain that he deadass just passed out.
Idk what happens between that again my ass cannot write but it’s been like 10 years since then (in all the art I’ve drawn) and he’s been working for Odin and accepted as the god of mischief/chaos and he’s just sad and tryna get revenge on Odin slowly but surely.
Ya that’s it I feel shy posting this CUZ IM NOT A WRITER but whatever we ball ‼️

I just don't get the argument that banning AI-generated works from ao3 would be pointless because people will continue to post AI works but stop labelling them as such, so they'll be harder to avoid. You can say that about literally any crime. There are always going to be people who ignore the rules, but that doesn't mean the rules should not exist.
Right now, AI-generated works are a novelty. People are posting them openly because it seems like fun. The posters of these fics (I will not call them authors) aren't trying to cheat anyone, they just find the concept neat and want to share them with others, but they're not actually trying to receive praise for something they didn't do.
The people who are trying to pass AI-generated works off as genuine fanworks are already doing so. If 50% of AI works currently on the archive are marked as such, and 50% are not, then banning AI works would result in the openly-AI works being removed. Of those, perhaps half of the people posting them would be so determined to do so anyway that they'll lie and repost them less-conspicuously—but that's still 25% fewer AI works on the archive. (and frankly I think this is being very generous about the number of genuine grifters)
Placeholder "fic to be written" works, "help me find this fic" works, and other works that treat the archive like a social media site are already against the terms of service. These can and do get reported and taken down. If you're a regular user of the archive you'll know that works like this still get posted on a pretty regular basis, but the fact that they're generally known to be against the TOS means there is a precedent to stop them becoming more commonplace.
AI-generated works are not fanworks. They simply aren't. They have no place taking up server space and pushing genuine creators further down in the search results, making it just a little bit harder for authors starting out to get noticed. They don't belong there any more than advertisements for discord servers or future fics.
The only other concern I've seen expressed is that genuine inexperienced authors might get mistaken for AI-posters and reported. Personally, I think it's still pretty easy to tell the difference between the structurally perfect but utterly soulless prose of AI and the error-ridden works of inexperienced human authors, but assuming that changes...it's already basically impossible to get fics taken down that don't openly admit to breaking the rules. These reports are assessed by real people and the Archive's policy is maximum inclusiveness when there is any doubt whatsoever.
If all a ban on AI-works does is remove the hundreds of fics that are currently open about being AI-generated, that is already enough for it to be a good thing, even if it does lead to a few more being posted in secret
