"Special Someone" (insert goofy eyebrow wiggle here). even the little kid playground chatter of "do you like them?" We talk circles around romance but it's assumed to always be there, at the center of everything. it needs no qualifier attached. all you have to do is hint at romance for it to be assumed. if you want to talk about love, about mutual care, about deep devotion, outside of romance, you have to go out of your way to clarify what you mean. i want words that convey significance without carrying the weight of other implications.

I will say I get the vibe that a lot of peoples interest and support for strikers is a bit too much for a vicarious ‘burn it down’ thrill, rather than for the actual goals of a strike.

Like UPS has agreed to come back to the table and it is very possible they will concede to Union demands and avert a strike. And if that happens (so long as the union does not make concessions on its key demands) it’s a good thing. It’s a victory for the laborers. It is the same ultimate conclusion that a strike would intend to produce except without the workers having to go on (not so great) strike pay for a week or two.

#I understand to an extent bc I think such a major strike would be very politically significant for the labor movement #But UPS submitting to union demands to avert a strike also accomplishes this. Maybe in a less visible way but all the same #Also on a personal note I would love to see UPS get absolutely fucked but again: strike goals are more important here

Malleus doesn't have a Beans Day card, so that would've been fanmade! and the 100 anniversary cards are actually the new round of birthday cards, so most of the characters don't have 'em yet -- Malleus should be getting his in a couple of days, when his birthday event starts! oh god my keeeeeys

I think the wiki.gg stays pretty up to date? it looks to me like they have everything that's currently up through JP, at least. :O I did go through and do a quick count just because I couldn't believe Malleus only had 12 cards, but. he really does have the least...defeated only by Silver with 13...astonishing. we need his gargoyle club wear immediately.

I believe that Chim did NOT introduce them properly when he showed up. He was just like "hey Tommy bro it's been forever we gotta meet under non someone's life threatening circumstances oh yeah these losers are with me they're at the 118 too say hi losers this guy is gonna steal us a chopper"

And Buck was standing there a little starstruck as Tommy smiled and shook his hand and he definitely did his lil anxious stutter thing where he went "oh um hi im- evan- evan buckley" and before he could manage to get out the "you can call me Buck part" Tommy went "hi Evan, nice to meet you" and the fucking SOFT way Tommy said his name just had Buck's brain melting so he forgot about the Buck thing and then well they were stealing helicopters flying into hurricanes and it just settled as A Thing in his head that Tommy calls him Evan and Buck kinda just Likes It.

Meanwhile Tommy is increasingly confused about the Buck thing the more time they spend together and the more time he spends with the extended 118 fam the more he realises that NO ONE calls Buck Evan except Evan had very specifically introduced himself as "Evan. Evan Buckley" and had never once told Tommy he could call him Buck and now it's been so long Tommy's just afraid to ask what's going on.

This is all now canon in my head also I wanna read fics where Tommy is confused about the name thing now HAS ANYONE WRITTEN THE FICS!?!?

also re: romance does not have a monopoly on yearning, that post is about real life and i don't want to make it about fandom, but i would love to see more stories about the yearning and heartbreak that can come with non-romantic love.

some of my favorite stories are ones that touch on this. because there is so much potential for yearning outside of romance! second guessing if your best friend thinks you're their best friend or just another person they know. thinking of someone as your chosen family, but knowing/believing that their blood family will always come before you. growing to care for someone you've wronged in the past, and worrying that they'll never feel safe around you. growing apart from someone you've known since you were a child, and missing the people both of you used to be.

there are SO many stories here. and i'm going to keep writing as many of them as I can, but I'd love to see more of them out in the world, too.

and 4 seasons later it's a sitcom about a family of genderqueer aliens, headed by a gay couple in a happy & horny open marriage (with a graphic off-screen sex life, despite their canonical lack of genitalia?) teaching themselves to be okay parents to their 3 kids (whose Sci-Fi Antics now slightly-less-frequently revolve around wreaking havoc on human bystanders, and slightly-more-frequently revolve around alien-clone-sibling-bonding*), to the point that the central plot point becomes "We need to provide our toddler antichrist with a stable home environment."

(also the grumpy alien husband is too busy ingratiating his family with their suburban neighbors to even remember whom or what he dislikes. what is this show)
