As many of you don't know, I'm from Donbass and my life is a challenge since the beginning.

I've always thought that music is just a way to change your mood, to dance, to think. Before I met Metallica.

The Unforgiven was the first song I've heard from them when I wanted to discover them more (originally it was The Memory Remains back in 2012 but we don't talk about it), and I was literally obsessed. The first day back in November 2021 I just listened to it on repeat, learning the lyrics and trying to find its meaning without Internet. I was amazed. That day will forever stay in my mind.

Since then The Unforgiven became that song for me which I used mostly for a long walk or a think. But I never could imagine that this song will help me to go through my bad times.

When the war has started and bombs flew around, I was scared, but this song helped me to calm and just forget about my problems for a couple of minutes. That was peaceful. Since that moment that song isn't an often guest in my daily tracks, but it always comes in its perfect time.

Today was the day. I was broken in pieces, depressed, without desire to do something. So I just had a walk alone and turned that very song. I cried. It reminded me of my previous life, when it was peaceful and calm. This song helped me to fix my mood and now I'm feeling much better.

It's pretty funny how Metallica's darkest song has became the light in the world of my darkness. My opinion may change, but one thing I know for sure - this was my first song and this will forever stay my favorite. Just like the whole Metallica as my favorite band.

I'm just grateful to James, Lars, Kirk and Jason for this. Metallica will always have a special part in my heart ❤️

Okay. I just want to share this song with EVERYONE and it occurred to me that fans of The Terror might be particularly receptive to an awesome Inuktitut cover of "The Unforgiven." I'd never heard the original (apparently it's by some band called Metallica lol) and this just blew me away. The other two singles Elisapie has released from this album ("Taimangalimaaq (Time After Time)" and "Uummati Attanarsimat (Heart of Glass)") have also been fucking dope and I've been listening a lot but this one is just..... next level in my opinion.

Anyway, I know some folks who watch The Terror are interested in Inuit culture ETC, PLUS when I read the English lyrics to this song I was like ha ha ha there are connections here to our cold boys. So if you are interested GIVE IT A LISTEN and then scream with me over how good it is

I got this LP record as a gift when I was younger, it was the first one of their albums that I owned and I listened to it sooo many times - so most of its songs have a special place in my heart. But "The unforgiven" is special to me (the whole 'trilogy'), I have a connection with it that I cannot put in words.
