hello. i was wondering sumn. what makes a knight of camelot ~A Knight of Camelot~? there are so many of them and they’re all different but do they have characteristics in common that are found in the average Famous Knight of Camelot and that when you see you think “ah yes that is very arthurian of them”. i hope my question is not a bother to you and too confusing.
Hi! Like every other answer I ever give, it’s highly dependent on the text.
In the Mabinogion, Arthur’s best knights tend to have special abilities, even magical powers. We all remember Kai’s fun list of attributes.
But generally speaking, fame in Camelot comes from 3 things:
Every successful knight is hot. I don’t make the rules.
They have to be good at beating the snot out of other guys. Obviously.
Branding. I’m so serious.
My basis for this comes from the Vulgate descriptions of the Orkney Bros. Specifically, Gaheriet/Gaheris. Not because he’s famous, but because he isn’t.
It’s no accident that Gaheris never makes it to the big screen the way his brothers do. He is, by design, basic. The quintessential middle child. He doesn’t have a Special Trait (such as Gawain’s courtesy or reputation as a ladies man or noontime powers etc.) and that makes Gaheris forgettable. To be a famous knight, you gotta put your whole pussy into it, in front of a live studio audience, or you won’t be famous no matter how good you are. Makes sense when you think about it!
Not sure if that answers your question, but that’s what I got. Take care. :^)

"In Welsh folklore the Cŵn Annwn, "hounds of Annwn", were the spectral hounds of Annwn, the otherworld of Celtic mythology. According to legend, their growling is loudest when they are at a distance, and as they draw nearer, it grows softer and softer. Their coming is generally seen as a death portent"
I like to think that by the time they catch up with you, they are making very unthreatening meeping noises, and instead of tearing you to pieces, they just boop their noses against your shins. That then instantly teleports you to Annwn. From what I've read, Annwn seems a good place to live. Especially if you're not of nobility. The King of Annwn is quite a charitable person too. So if it was me, I'd be heading out to the hills, desperate for an encounter with the white-coated, red-eared boop squad. Teleport me to Annwn ya little meepers!

An old favourite of mine. Finally starting to get a hang of this gold thing.
I'm running out of space to keep these in my bedroom. Maybe that means it's time to start selling them?

A start of shift prayer:
Gorfannon the Smith, guide my hand.
Amaethon of the Plough, give strength to my back.
Let me lose myself in my labours and find peace in my toil,
May my efforts be fruitful and my respite well earned.

Gwenhwyvar and Arthur's Hunting Dogs in Geraint the Son of Erbin
@gawrkin
there's this subplot (and also my favorite tidbit) in Geraint, the Son of Erbin where Gwenyfher asked Arthur that she wanted to watch him and the lads hunt the famous stag.
Gwenyfher did not wake up when Arthur was getting ready for the hunt
And Arthur wondered that Gwenhwyvar did not awake, and did not move in her bed; and the attendants wished to awaken her. "Disturb her not, said Arthur, "for she had rather sleep than go see to the hunting."
She woke up a bit later.
And after Arthur had gone forth from the palace, Gwenhwyvar awoke, and called to her maidens, and apparelled herself. "Maidens," said she, "I had leave last night to go and see the hunt. Go one of you to the stable, and order hither a horse such as a woman may ride." And one of them went, and she found but two horses in the stable, and Gwenhwyvar, and one of her maidens mounted them
She and her maiden went to the woods themselves in order to catch up the hunt. They met Geraint on the way, and she asked him to accompany her since he was not with King Arthur's group. (geraint actually did not know where the hunt was)
anyway Gwenhwyvar wanted to see the hunt from a prime vantage point coz she liked watching the dogs go. XD
"I was asleep, and knew not when he went; but thou, O young man, art the most agreeable companion I could have in the whole kingdom; and it may be, that I shall be more amused with the hunting than they; for we shall hear the horns when they sound, and we shall hear the dogs when they are let loose, and begin to cry." So they went to the edge of the Forest, and there they stood. "From this place," said she, "we shall hear when the dogs are let loose."
My awesome Queen Gwenhwyvar was like "watching the dogs be good doggos is fun."
