Pearl Davison
Born and raised near the docks of London, Pearl is a young middle-class working woman who yearns for greater, more exciting horizons.
Life with her parents was never a struggle financially, only mentally. With the two of them constantly vying for the attention of the rich, they raised their daughter to meet their standards in hopes of marrying her off. Wishing for the day their pockets would be full and their daughter would be happy. However, outside of the training for high society, Pearl typically found herself throwing herself into things that would typically end with her locked in an asylum.
A thrill seeker by nature, it wasn't long before she was saddled with a bit of a gambling addiction. Sneaking out to bet and watch the horse races, and even riding one of her own down the streets to the docks. The same docks where she would meet Charles Redlock, who, unbeknownst to her, would end up being the most impactful person in her life, second to her own father.
Unfortunately, despite her rebellious nature, Pearl is incredibly sheltered and naïve about anything outside of her social circles. When Charles reveals to her his occupation, she essentially gets ‘scared straight’ and turns her back on him. Hesitant to embrace her unruly and wild behavior at first, but she soon learns to embrace it, along with the pirate's life.
Despite it all, Pearl herself is far too trusting. She devotes too much trust to those who show no desire to earn it. which often ends up with her in relationships that turn out unsavory. Still, in her heart all she really desires is to be someone people sing songs about. She wants to be remembered. She wants to be like the heroes she reads in her stories.
And maybe someday she’ll see she already is.

CHARLES EDWARD REDLOCK
reference sheet
reference sheet made july 2023. currently up to date to his current design
Charles E. Redlock (preferably referred to as just "Redlock")
Redlock's story takes place in the late seventeen hundreds during the end of the golden age of piracy.
Redlock is a fun individual, seeks adventure and to unearth everything life has to offer. “Leave no stone unturned” kind of behavior.
Redlock is the type of person to be the first to do anything most people wouldn't be caught dead doing. And somehow, the man defies all logic and stays alive anyway. He’d say it's the luck of the Irish, others would say he's got something watching over him. Either way it's not infallible; he still lost a leg.
Born to Saoirse Redlock, a hardworking Irish woman who moved to England due to his father's promises of a decent, stable life.
His father, a sailor, often was not at home for long periods of time. When he was home, he'd spin wild, unbelievable stories to Charles of his adventures at sea. Inspiring the young man to do the same.
But, as it happened far too many times to so many; one day his father sailed away and never came back
The mystery of why he left is still something that lingers in redlock's head, though he tries to not think about it.
Much later in his life, Charles joins the Navy in hopes to have the same adventures his father had. He very quickly realizes that his father may have stretched the truth a little.
He meets Marjani, a woman born at sea and raised by her brother, and together they start a life of pillaging and plundering as pirates.
Eventually he meets a noblewoman named Pearl, who, after many trials and tribulations, would become his wife.
They would become partners in crime in time, but it would take time.
Redlock is a man of mistakes. A childish man who is fueled by only his own desires, by his hatred to the navy, and by his need to never miss an opportunity.
A great captain, but a piss poor friend and lover.
More often than not, his mistakes lead to situations that only he can both break and fix. He fixes it with a grand save at the last minute, creating a story he’ll tell by song and candlelight. He breaks them by distancing those people from him, jaded by the problems he causes and his unwillingness to accept his own wrongdoings.
With a life like this, you make several enemies of various degrees, Women scorned in ports, deals gone sour, relatives looking for justice for the dead. The issue is when those men happen to also be naval privateers.
Deep down, Redlock is a boy hoping he'll find his father and a man who hopes he'll earn back the love of the woman he holds close. By whatever means he can find.
But until then; it's time to polish those guns, sharpen those swords, and see what kind of fun can be had!
