Weh it’s hard to get a feel for how to write a character’s dialogue when they don’t have that much official dialogue in game

Final Fantasy Record Keeper Manticore Magicite Fight
The fights in the 5-star Magicite Dungeons in the Final Fantasy Record Keeper (FFRK) mobile game are quest level 400.
Manticore is the 5-star Ice Magicite boss that takes reduced damage against physical attacks. He’s weak to the fire element, so you’re encouraged to beat him using a team made up of magical fire attackers.
Fire is my strongest element because that’s Genesis Rhapsodos’s (from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII) main element.
Tumblr media
Currently, Genesis Rhapsodos is my absolute, most favorite Final Fantasy VII (#ad) char. He’s the reason why I’m playing Final Fantasy Record Keeper.
Genesis is a physical attacker, and most of my fire relics deal physical damage, so I can’t field a magical fire team against Manticore.
So I decided to try taking on Manticore with my physical fire team. Prior to this, the only 5-star Magicite I’ve beaten was Mateus.
He’s the opposite of Manticore in that he’s also weak to fire but he takes reduced damage against magic and ninjutsu attacks.
Was able to auto the fight against Mateus, but I didn’t think that’d be possible for this fight, at least not if I’m bringing a physical team.
When I fought against Mateus, I used the Final Fantasy VII Historia Crystal since I didn’t have a decent 5-star Magicite deck back then.
IIRC, my FFVII Historia Crystal was still only at level 99 before since it wasn’t possible yet to increase its level to the max of 120. That was also back before new Books of Trials missions showed up.
Completing some of the missions in these Books will give you a few copies of all the 4-star Magicites and 1 copy of each 5-star Magicite, all at the max level of 99.
If you beat a 5-star Magicite, then you also get a level 99 copy of it. This let me put together a decent enough 5-star Magicite deck.
I still needed to farm a bit if I wanted to optimize said deck but it was serviceable enough for now, so I wanted to try using it for the Manticore fight.
My deck consisted of:
Belias (XII) with triple Empower Fire Level 15 and 1 Deadly Strikes Level 10
Madeen (IX) with Empower Holy Level 15, Surging Power Level 15, Healing Boon Level 15, and Health Boon Level 5
Madeen (IX) - Empower Holy Level 15, Surging Power Level 15, and 2 Attack Boon Level 16
Phoenix (VI) with Dampen Blizzard Level 10, Health Boon Level 8, Spell Ward Level 5, and Blade Ward Level 8
Behemoth King (XIII) with triple Empower Lightning Level 15 and 1 Precise Strikes Level 10
Yeah, I know, a lot of these passives are useless for this particular fight. Like I said, still working on my Magicite deck.
My physical fire team usually consisted of Genesis, Auron (from Final Fantasy X), Balthier (Ffamran mied Bunansa from Final Fantasy XII), Tyro (from Final Fantasy Record Keeper), and Elarra (from Final Fantasy Record Keeper).
Sometimes, I’d bring Aeris or Aerith Gainsborough (from Final Fantasy VII) in place of Elarra or I’d drop Tyro and bring both Elarra and Aerith.
Genesis was my main DPS with Auron acting as my secondary one. Balthier was my physical fire Chain holder. I do have his Awakening so he can be a DPS too but his main focus is on casting the fire Chain and imperiling the fire element.
Elarra heals and buffs the party’s attack. She also provides hi fastcast and critical hit damage up while Tyro Wraths and Entrusts and increases the party’s critical hit chance.
For the Manticore fight, I decided to drop Auron so I could try out Vincent Valentine (from Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII).
Tumblr media
I completed Vincent’s Record Board, and I was debating on whether to get his Hero Ability or not. Couldn’t decide though. For now, I opted to just get him the Trinity Bombshell ability.
Brought the Fabula Raider Roaming Warrior since it temporarily raises the party’s attack.
Had Elarra use her Glint+ Soul Break, Magika Amuletum, for the instant Protect, Shell, and Haste for the entire party then she spammed Warrior’s Hymn with the occasional Passionate Salsa.
Used her USB1, Magika Album, whenever she can for the hi fastcast, heal, and Regenga. Ideally, while my DPS are already attacking, she should use her USB2, Magika Orare, for the critical hit damage up.
Tyro Wrath and Entrusted mostly to Balthier and Elarra. Ideally, he should cast his AASB at around the same time that Elarra’s using her Magika Orare while my DPS have their Syncs active and the fire Chain is up.
The effects of Fabula Raider should be up and active at around this time too. It doesn’t always work out due to mistakes being made such as tapping the wrong thing or being too slow to input commands, but when it works, the damage is absolutely amazing.
Balthier spams Burnt Offering to imperil fire. I have him cast his Chain Soul Break around the time that Genesis is activating his Sync.
If Balthier has the gauge to spare, then I get him to use his Awakening so he can contribute to the DPS although he doesn’t always get to hit that hard.
Vincent spammed Trinity Bombshell. He also has the Meltdown ability equipped, and I sometimes ended up tapping on that instead.
As soon as he could, had him activate his Sync then spammed his Sync Command 1, which imperils fire. Had it linked to Trinity Bombshell.
Once all the buffs are up and running, then Vincent hits pretty hard, being able to break the damage cap with his Sync Command 1 followed by Trinity Bombshell.
Tumblr media
Had Genesis build up his gauge by spamming Omega Drive. Once he had 2 bars, then I had him activate his Glint+1 Soul Break and Glint+2 Soul Break followed by his Sync.
Then I had him use his Sync Command 2 once followed by his Sync Command 1 twice. Kept repeating the rotation until his Sync effect ran out.
Sometimes, I also opted to cast his Limit Break Overstrike (LBO) already if there are 3 limit gauges and the Chain was about to end.
If timed properly, Genesis can cast his LBO right before the Chain ends and it deals 99999x5 damage, which really takes off huge chunks of the enemy’s health. If the boss had low enough HP by then, this would sometimes end the fight already.
Super pleased that I was able to win with this team. Even managed to sub-30 the fight although Balthier ended up dying.
Was really impressed with Vincent too. He did very well. Now I’m tempted to get his Hero Ability.
As always, Genesis did very well. I really love seeing him being able to deal so much damage.
Conclusion
So what about you? Have you tried any of the 5-star Magicite fights yet? What do you think about these quests? Feel free to share your thoughts and opinions by leaving a comment below or by reblogging or replying to this post.

Figured I'd make a post outlining Arknights' auxiliary material for those who want to see more of the universe and aren't aware of all that's out there! ANIMATION Arknights Prelude To Dawn (S1) and Perish in Frost (S2, currently airing): [Crunchyroll]
Tumblr media
A straight up adapation of the main story, up through Chapter 0 to Chapter 6! It's much more fast-paced than the story, so I wouldn't use it to replace actually reading it, but it's very cool to see some of these scenes in full animation. Lee's Detective Agency: (Youtube)
Tumblr media
A mini-series animated in a chibi-style with a comedic tone focused on the adventures of the Kuroblood-illustrated Lee's Detective Agency! Distributed by Crunchyroll globally, but entirely free to watch.
Closure's Secret Files: (Youtube)
Tumblr media
A cut-out styled series of shorts hosted by Closure which outlines a lot of the game's basic mechanics!
Holy Knight Light: [Youtube]
Tumblr media
A short Youtube OVA focusing around Penguin Logistics delivering a package, celebrating Arknights' first anniversary!
[Upcoming]: Kay's Daily Doodles: (Twitter Annoucement)
Tumblr media
Another free youtube mini-series that starts airing December 1st, focused around Ceobe! Here's some additional animations! Each event usually also has a 15 second 2D animated preview of the event, but there's so many of those that I can't list them all. Official Anniversary Event 3D Animations: Lone Trail Where Vernal Winds Will Never Blow Il Siracusano Ideal City Stultifera Navis Invitation To Wine Near Light Dossoles Holiday Under Tides Bonus 3D Animated Shorts: Legend of Chongyue Arknights Special - IL Siracusano Lo Scontro Youtube Shorts: Ch'en and Lin's Watermelon Splitting Game Part 1 Ch'en and Lin's Watermelon Splitting Game Part 2 Amiya's Siracusan Food Guide Part 1 Amiya's Siracusano Food Guide Part 2
Comics, Manga, Manhua
Officially Translated Rhodes Island's Records of Originium: Rhine Lab: (Offical Website)
Tumblr media
A canon manhua centered around the circumstances that lead to Silence falling out with Saria and joining Rhodes Island with Ifrit, as well as Ifrit's attempt to save a dying infected stowaway on the landship. Essential reading for understanding the Rhine Lab storyline and characters - read it right after Mansfield! One of the characters, Darya, is mentioned in both Ifrit's module and briefly in Lone Trail.
Rhodes Island's Records of Originium: Blacksteel: (Official Source)
Tumblr media
A short story focusing on the lives of the Blacksteel operators aboard the landship. While it often gets overshadowed by the Rhine Lab manga which is bigger in scope, this is a great read especially if you're interested in Franka or Liskarm.
Rhodes Kitchen -TIDBITS-: (Official Source)
Tumblr media
An anthology story related to the cuisine that's important to a variety of operators. While it might seem unassuming, the art is gorgeous and it's really well-written. I particularly recommend the Goldenglow (Chapter 4) and Rosa (Chapter 5) chapters.
Unofficially Translated
Arknights Comic Anthology: (Mangadex)
Tumblr media
As the title says, a series of non-canon anthology stories regarding the cast of Rhodes' Island! Note that the link provided only has complete translations up to Volume 4 (and Vol. 4 is missing Ch. 7), and most of the chapters avaliable after that point were MTL'd, so I can't vouch for their accuracy. Chapters I'd recommend are: Volume 1: Chapter 12 (focused on Myrrh trying to improve her medicine), Chapter 14 (focused on Saria and Silence trying to put apart their differences to take Ifrit on vacation, afaik the only place where they are directly referred to as her "moms") Volume 2: Chapter 1 (Manticore tries to make friends), Chapter 3 (The LGD gets drunk), Chapter 11 (Texlapp and Mosexu yuribait), Ch. 13 (Magallan tries to find a pet), Chapter 16 (Ethan spies on the interior lives of Rhodes operators) Volume 3: Chapter 6 (Snowsant, Ifrit, Nian and Shaw are forced to make friends), Chapter 7 (Gummy flashes back to Chernobog), Chapter 10 (FEater and Shaw yuribait), Chapter 13 (Blackout on the landship, as well as Ayerscarpe and Leonhardt yaoibait)
Volume 4: Chapter 4 (Thorns tries to make friends with Weedy [this one is my favourite]), Chapter 6 (Tomimi tail spankings), Chapter 9 (Elysium helps Frostleaf get along with Dur-Nar) Volume 6: Ch. 1 (Whisperain opens up to others) [this one isn't MTL'd afaik]
123 Rhodes Island: (Mangadex)
Tumblr media
A series of non-canon gag 4komas! Many of the games' offical stickers are done in this series' art style.
Arknights: Operators!: (Mangadex)
Tumblr media
A compilation of 4komas posted on the official ArknightsJP twitter account! Thank you to @sleepywoodscans for their work on translating these, please show them some love!!
[Edit: For clarities sake, the only stuff here that has used MTL is later chapters of the Comic Anthology! Sleepywoodscans’ work on Operators! is all done by hand (they’re a native Japanese speaker). Again, I really appreciate their work!]
Arknights: A1 Operations Preparation Detachment: (Mangadex)
Tumblr media
Part of the Terra Historicus website and not yet officially translated, focusing on Fang, Kroos and Beagle, and a catastrophe striking the Columbian city of Tkaronto. Unfortunately, only translated up to Chapter 6, but one of the characters (Elba) has a brief cameo in Light Sparks in Darkness! Edit: Chapter 7 has been translated by @pooce-art, and they're working on Chapter 8!
Angelina: Sketches of THIS Messenger's Journey: (Mangadex)
Tumblr media
Also published as part of the Terra Historicus website and not yet officially translated, focuses on the adventures of Angelina travelling across Terra as a Messenger! Recent chapters relate to the upcoming Sami event & IS4, as well as the upcoming So Long, Adele.
Prelude Suite: Unrestrained Play: (Wiki)
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, I can't find a full translation for this one - an epilogue to Hortus De Esscapismo focusing on Arturia's background. Of course, major spoilers for Hortus apply - if you can find a full translation yourself.
As well, an upcoming manhua focused on the Break the Ice cast was annouced during the 4.5 Anniversary stream. As far as I'm aware, chapters have not begun releasing yet!
Other:
Arknights Ambience Synesthesia: (Youtube)
youtube
A series of concerts (3 so far), focusing around Arknights' music! A live performance has been done every year, with skins released in-game for the concert's theme & 3D animations produced featuring the skin's cast in 2022 and 2023.
Monster Siren Records: (Spotify) (Official Website)
Tumblr media
Arknights' official (and-in-universe) record label publishing game OSTs, themes for almost every 6 star operator that releases, and occasional bonus songs.
Arknights: Endfield: (Twitter)
Tumblr media
An upcoming 3D action gacha game from Hypergryph, set in the far future of Arknights' universe on another planet. Currently in closed beta testing for their CN servers!
Arknights: Nomad City: The Founders: (Youtube)
Tumblr media
A to-be-released CN Arknights board game! Unclear of if it will ever be translated or released globally, unfortunately...
Terra: A Journey: (Wiki)
Tumblr media
An upcoming CN lore book focused on the intricate details of Terra's worldbuilding. As well, unclear if it will be translated or released globally.
UNOFFICIAL:
Some fandom-developed tools that might be of use to you are the Arknights Terra Wiki - which just transferred from FANDOM to wiki.gg, and has very detailed information on both game mechanics and world-lore.
As well, the Arknights Story Reader can help you catch up on stuff you don't want to or can't read in game!
Finally, Aceship's Toolbox provides access to a variety of tools, including a levelling calculator, a calculator to ensure the best recruitments, and all the CGs, backgrounds and character sprites that are avaliable in-game.
Conclusion:
Thank you for reading! I hope this provided some new information to you or at least provides an easy reference resource in the future. There's a lot to check out even outside of the game, and I hope you find some stuff you enjoy!

working on my wyrm as promised. unfortunately one of the worst things for me to draw is long and coiled shapes (like a snake) and wyrms are like several kilometres long. any efforts at drawing this thing's body end in vain. i'm sure you can imagine it.
lore ->
In this particular world, wyrms are the biggest monsters but they aren't harmful to humans. Living exclusively underground in vast networks of tunnels and burrows, they rarely see sunlight. Hunting strategy is to wait for the crawling beasts of the earth to fall into their tunnels. because the crawling beasts of the earth are deadly harmful to crops, poisoning the soil all around them, the presence of a wyrm near or even under a human village is considered a great additional protection against crop failure.
wyrms are solitary and hate their own kind (for something so large there's really not enough resources in the land to support two wyrms within like a 200km radius) and all seem to be roughly the same age, without any young wyrms ever sighted or recorded, indicating that they do not reproduce either. this is because the wyrms that exist today (in the 1600s) are all the originals from the great plague of monsters which spawned all the other beasties like the manticores and harpies etc. because of this they have a great amount of knowledge, especially of the ancient world before monsters existed, and before the crawling beasts of the earth came to terrorise humans and monsters alike. it is very possible to befriend one and if you do live in a village that has a wyrm under it, common practice is to build a 'house' for the wyrm on the surface, with a hole in the floor that it can poke its upper body through. that way it's easy to visit and talk to them.
the humanoid parts of wyrms are not that much bigger than a real human and is what is most mobile in the tunnels, while the main body all the way down to the tailtip remains largely stationary.

^ unsatisfying original concept drawing

AFTER-ACTION REPORT
Bandit tallied at 0800hrs ANST, having been previously unidentified by masking its heat signature inside of an ongoing firestorm.
Unlicensed "Exotic" Equipment identified from chassis included:
Four (4) "Snapdragon" Propelled Propane Dart Launchers (rendered inoperable during critical reactor meltdown)
Two (2) Reactor-Fed Heated Fistplates (retrieved, registered as spoils, and permission for reinstallation on friendly chassis requested)
One (1) Experimental Charged Endoskeleton (initially mistaken as tempered plating, later identified as hostile chassis approached meltdown. Request for retrieval and reinstallation summarily rejected, reason provided as follows: "-ar as we can tell this abomination is what would happen if you took one of those MANTICORE pattern exoskeletons and then pushed it deeper in with a layer of armour on top that was intended to slag itself into oblivion. Setting aside the sheer difficulty of gutting another chassis and leaving its outsides as-is while slipping this hunk of junk underneath, you do understand that all recorded MANTICORE patterns have an average 200% pilot mortality rate, right?"

Dearest, wonderfulst of them all. I'm coming in here with a monster tucked under my arm.
The Manticore. Please. It's one of my favourite beasts.
<3 <3 <3 for you.
Somna!!! Ok this one I was noodling for a while because I was like “ok. Ren faire ren faire ren faire.” And it was gonna be really special and a little grandiose (I was feeling a type of way with the end of summer.)
But the thing about Eddie and this OC (or Reader character if you’re not reading the series) is that they find heaven in the most simple places together. They find it in each other.
So I hope you enjoy this one. It's not big angsty, it's just a little soft silly thing. Big kisses for you my love.

August 1984
“So what are we looking for again?”
“Rick's birthday is coming up so anything Green Bay Packers—”
“Ew.”
“—and maybe some flannels for Wayne. How about you?”
“Maybe some books. Some records for the both of us?"
"No Van Halen though."
"I swear to God," you muttered under your breath. "I mention them one time."
"Hot for Teacher is a bullshit song and you know it," Eddie grinned mischievously as he slammed the door of the van shut.
He knew just what it took to get under your skin sometimes; pick at the tiniest throwaway thing you'd say and turn it into a whole to-do. Keep pushing and pushing until you tried to tell him off because then he'd get to emphasize "but you love me" until your hard stare turned soft and you'd agree because...you did.
You did love him. Loved him for all the good things and the bad; loved him because he was an idiot.
He was your idiot. Proudly.
Today, though, was not about mischief.
You were both on a mission.
You'd driven all the way up to Fort Wayne for the Allen County Flea Market at the Fairgrounds. It was a once-a-month event where hundred of people brought their prized possessions, their antiques, and their trash to try and offload it for as much cash as possible. And he had plenty to spare, after he'd made his appearance at all of the end-of-summer parties that had been thrown by everyone of college-going-age in the tri-county area.
So why not have a little day out, treat the most important people in his life to something nice, if...a little worn. Worn was ok.
He was a little worn too. So were you. And Wayne and Rick. His friends. He'd never felt such a sense of belonging as he did with all of you. All sorts of pieces that seemingly didn't fit together or belong...that had been patched together to create something epic. Unstoppable.
His family.
After perusing a few booths together, you parted ways to hunt for your own treasures, and he greedily accepted the soft farewell kisses you pressed to his lips.
One, and then another for the road, and a third for good luck.
He prompted it, but it was typically your saying as you stole a few smooches before you left him for the night or for work, and hearing him say it made you beam brightly.
It made him glow from deep within.
Once you were out of sight, he clapped his hands and let destiny take him where it would.
Got a couple things for himself and Wayne, enough that he could convince his uncle that they didn't need to go back to school shopping for much of anything outside of the obvious pens, pencils, and notebooks from Kmart. No new shoes or shirts.
He could keep the that overtime pay from the plant tucked away for a rainy day, or maybe fix the heater on his car that he'd been hemming and hawing about since February.
He even found Wayne a sturdy denim jacket with a suede collar that, he was sure, would be perfect once the cool weather rolled in.
He got Rick's birthday gift and continued to peruse the booths along his path, finding a few useful items along the way: a coil of guitar strings still in the packaging, a set of cooking knives that might have been chipped and dull but still probably more useful to cut vegetables with than the set of steak knives that were tucked away in a kitchen drawer back home, and a plan black sweatshirt with some moth holes that could, realistically, be saved by some strategically placed band patches.
He had been contemplating whether he was willing to endure your wrath if he surprised you with a copy of Women and Children First from a pile of old vinyls--
A grander gesture would be to convince the guys to add Could This Be Magic to the setlist of Corroded Coffin 2.0's first outing at the Hideout. Jeff could test his mettle on acoustic and Eddie could dedicate the song to you.
--when he found the jackpot.
It was a dusty book with worn edges, title on the front cover printed in a heavy gothic script and embossed with gold foil.
A Modern Bestiary for the 20th Century by Professor Hellen Magnus and Doctor Pellinore Warthrop
Eddie's hand shot to it immediately, intrigued, and he spent a good few minutes flipping through the pages. He vibrated as he went page by page, eyes scanning over one creature or another.
Harpies and gargoyles and sea serpents.
He thought of all the Hellfire sessions that would benefit from this book. It really felt like an ancient tome with all of the scientific diagrams and breakdowns of each creature's skeleton, brief summaries of associated myths, and place of origin. References to other books that he made a mental note to ask about at the library.
And then, right in the center of the book, there was a fold out spread that featured a full color illustration of a Manticore.
His favorite.
He'd seen it in a book about heraldry once upon a time when he created a Munson Family Crest for the Middle Ages unit in 6th Grade History. And he'd been obsessed ever since.
The ultimate protector and most dangerous foe with the head of a human and the body of a lion, and a venomous scorpion tail. Symbolizing undefinable strength and power. So it was funny, how he had been thinking of the way his family was patched together earlier when this was waiting for him just hours ahead.
Fate was funny that way.
And funnier still...when he drew his eyes across the page once again and saw, scribbled in the corner in...colored pencil or crayon...he couldn't say for sure...was your name.
"No..." he squinted and pulled the page closer to his face. "Can't be."
It was a child's handwriting for sure, wobbly and unsure, but that was you.
For a second, Eddie didn't even...consider the implications of this being your book or how the book ending up here of all places. Stranger things had happened. Fate worked inn mysterious ways and all that.
He just felt...triumphant.
"Finally I'll get a leg up on you sweetheart," he said as he dug into his pockets for the cash to buy the book. "No more telling me about mysterious monsters and creatures. I'll know more than you soon enough."
You found Eddie sitting in the back of the van after you finished your shopping, the tote bag that you had the foresight to bring with you overflowing with books and records and even a rolled up poster that you were sure he'd like for his bedroom. His legs were crossed and he was flipping through the pages of a book that vaguely looked familiar to you.
"So, success?" you began to announce your presence. Eddie jumped a bit, startled and he shoved the book off to the side. You narrowed your eyes in suspicion. "What? Is that like...some like...weird book with sex positions in it or something? Studying to surprise me later or..."
"No! Well...studying yes, but not...I mean if you wanna..." he trailed off and raised his eyebrows suggestively. You slapped the back of your hand against his arm and laughed. "No, it's just this really interesting book I found. I'll tell you all about it on the drive back."
"Ok," you marveled at his enthusiasm. "I can't wait to hear all about it."
You dumped your bags in the back and slammed the doors shut as Eddie did his typical gentleman's act by racing around to open the passenger's door for you.
He bowed deeply and kissed the back of your hand, luxuriating in your giggles.
You wouldn't be laughing for long.
Once he was settled behind the wheel and he was sure of the directions back to Hawkins, he got the most devious look on his face. Positively devilish. His head dropped lazily to his shoulder and he dragged his eyes from the road to look at you.
"So, sweetheart, angel, cheese on my burger, love of my life," he buttered you up. "Tell me what you know...about The Manticore."

Jareth Headcanons
Tumblr media
.Jareth looks like a man of about 30, but he's actually over 2,000.
.Jareth's mother and father were the former rulers of the Underground.
.Jareth is a faery, more specifically a sidhe.
.Jareth created the labyrinth to test mortals for his own amusement ("We immortals suffer from the same dreaded affliction darling: chronic boredom").
.Jareth was worshipped by the pagans as a god of illusions, dreams, fate and magic. Modern pagans still do.
.He was born on Samhain. Actually, the entire holiday was created to celebrate and revere him. Another name for this night is "Goblin Night."
.The pendant he wears is the crest of the royal family.
.The markings around his eyes are actually tattoos, given to every new king. It symbolizes wisdom and insight, to have vision for the future.
.His favorite color is midnight blue.
.Like all fae nobles, he enjoys luxury, music and beauty.
.His hair used to be longer with his bangs fully grown out to match the length of the rest of his hair (just like Legolas). However, he decided to spice things up a bit with his hairdo since it made him look like his father's twin and he wanted his own look.
. He's still unmarried because he believes in marrying for love, not politics. His parents married for love, why shouldn't he?
.His favorite flowers are lilacs- he has vases of them in every room of his palace.
.Jareth doesn't hate his job; he just gets stressed with it from time to time.
. He's famous for throwing the biggest, most lavish balls and parties the underground has ever seen.
He got the moniker "Goblin King" because he specifically chose goblins to aid him in his abduction of wished away children as goblins are master tricksters and thieves.
.Jareth may seem easygoing at first, but he is one of the fiercest warriors his kingdom has ever known. His skills with a sword are a thing of legend, and he's a brilliant tactician and strategist. He once cut off the head of a powerful Fomorian general with one, clean cut.
.Jareth formed and leads the Wild Hunt, whose duty is to hunt down and punish wicked mortals or those who have offended the fae.
.Jareth loves peaches- his favorite fruit. Fix him any dessert that includes peaches and you're instantly in his good favor.
.He can't stand brown-nosers because he finds lack of dignity utterly pathetic.
.He owns ten dragons, eight unicorns, three gryphons, a basilisk and a manticore.
.Crystals help him focus his all-sight, a truly rare fae gift. He can use his power without them but he easily gets headaches due to the information overload.
.He has power over dreams and one of his epithets is "Lord of Dreams."
.He transforms into an owl because an owl represents his soul: mysterious, magical, wise and a dangerous predator when need be.
. He's a fan of Shakespeare.
.He holds the record among the nobles for most mischief made amongst the mortals on Halloween, and he aims to beat his own record each time.
.He goes to Mardi Gras every year.
.Sarah isn't the first mortal girl he's tried to seduce into being his bride.
.Like most of his kin, Jareth has a fondness for human children, especially babies. Few things make him as angry, and inspires his wrath more, as seeing them neglected and abused by cruel parents. This was another reason for the labyrinth's creation- to save children from unworthy guardians.
.Jareth is actually kidding when he tells runners that the wished-away children will be turned into goblins because he loves to see them squirm. In actuality, if they lose, he finds good homes for the children elsewhere, be it in the fae world or the human world. If runners lose, the memories of everyone who knew the children, are erased. The losing runners still remember though, as Jareth believes living forever with that overwhelming guilt is a fitting punishment. They are also magically banned from ever returning to the Underground.
.Because Jareth sometimes finds fae who are willing to take in wished away children, halflings have been born due to them finding fae mates as adults.
.Jareth is fond of the human music genres known as glam rock and pop.
.He can't take a child unless summoned to do so. In the past, changelings could be stolen but they had to put a stop to this practice due to a large number of complaints. He's particularly sad about this limitation because there are so many needy children he'd love to save but is barred from doing. That being said, just because he can't take the children, it doesn't mean he can't give them some form of happiness and gaity in their lives, nor does it mean he can't make the lives of their bastard parents a living hell.
.The entire Underground bows to his whims. He can change and alter its reality as he sees fit. He's so powerful that, if he wanted to, he could conquer the human world in a matter of hours.
. He's been ruling for over 1,000 years.
.He hates wearing crowns cause they cause "crown hair," plus they make his pointy ears itch.
.He once had to spend a whole day listening to two goblin families argue about ownership of an apple tree rooted on the boundary line separating their properties- "I should just bog them all now, the insufferable twits!"
.He loves baths with stardust and diamond-infused water as they make skin glowing and soft as silk.

Once Upon a Pixar (2026)
Hello. It's me, and this is the Pixar version of Once Upon a Studio called Once Upon a Pixar.
(The film opens with the headquarters at Pixar as the employees leave for the day.)
Pixar Intern: It's so incredible to think that George Lucas started Pixar back in 1979 until it was founded by Steve Jobs in 1986 40 years ago today. To think of all those talented animators and unforgettable characters who have been a part of the studio over the years.
Pete Docter: Yep. (as he and the intern turn around one last time) If the characters could talk to each other.
(Pete Docter and the intern leave as the door closes while the title comes up: "Once Upon a Pixar". The camera zooms into a photo picture of Woody, Jessie and Bullseye running on a record player. Woody glances back as everything seems quiet in the lobby.)
Woody: Psst! Atta. Princess Atta. You there?
(Princess Atta flies into the lobby and over to his picture.)
Woody: Is that it? They all gone?
Princess Atta: Yep, they're all gone.
Woody: Yee-haw! (he, Jessie and Bullseye leap out of the picture) Come on, Jessie, this is it.
Jessie: Let's get everyone. Yodel-ay-hee-hoo!
Joy: (gasps) There's the signal! All right, everyone! (she, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust jump out of their production cell) It's picture time!
Elio Silos: That's tonight?
Joy: That's now.
Ember Lumen: The 40-year group photo. (she and Wade jump out of their production cell as well) And the sun's going down. Come on, Wade, let's feel the burn!
Wade Ripple: Ooh, a fire pun. (chuckles) Got to like that.
(Suddenly, Arlo and Spot come out of their production cell as Wade gasps and goes against the wall.)
Arlo: (chuckles nervously) Sorry.
Woody: Picture time, gang!
Mei Lee: (chuckles) Okay, here we come!
(Mei Lee, Miriam, Abby, Priya and Tyler jump out of their production cell while they laugh.)
Abby: Wake up, everyone!
(The Oozma Kappa come out of their production cell as Squishy yells while Russell, Carl and Dug walk down the hallway.)
Russell: Whoa!
Dug: Awesome!
Russell: Oh, Mr. Lightyear! Get the folks upstairs!
Buzz Lightyear: Roger that, Russell. To infinity and beyond!
(Buzz Lightyear flies upstairs as Lightning McQueen drives happily down the hall with Mater.)
Mater: Yee-haw!
Merida: (jumps out of her production cell) It's picture time! (runs to the lobby) We're meeting at the lobby!
Flik: Okay! See you there!
(Miguel Rivera and Riley Andersen ride on Dim as Dim flies to the lobby.)
Miguel Rivera: (hollers)
(Francis gives a fun ride to Dash Parr.)
Dash Parr: Whoa! Higher! (laughs)
(Francis chuckles as Remy and Emile slide down the stairs as Luca Paguro lands on the floor and sighs as he catches Nemo.)
Nemo: Water.
Luca Paguro: (shudders and rushes to the counter)
P.T. Flea: No, no, no, there's no time for snacks!
Luca Paguro: Uh, Andy! A little help here?
Andy Davis: Oh, uh, let me see here. There we go, a nice bucket of water.
(Luca Paguro dunks Nemo to a bucket of water.)
Nemo: (grunts)
Linguini: (chuckles) Oh, waiter! There's a fish in the bucket! (laughs)
(Ernesto de la Cruz tries to get candy from the vending machine while he curses in Spanish as Mr. Incredible and Frozone walk down the hall.)
Mr. Incredible: Yikes! Do you think all the villains might catch up?
Frozone: Hmm. (freezes Syndrome in his frame) Not all.
Syndrome: (strains)
(Rex goes to the elevator with Imelda Rivera, Manticore, Ian, Barley and Laurel Lightfoot.)
Imelda Rivera: Going down?
Roz: Hold the elevator. I'm going to the lobby.
Rex: Huh? Oh, you've got to be joking.
(Joe Gardner hums to "Put On Your Sunday Clothes" while he draws Hector Rivera.)
Brook Ripple: Hey, black man. Shake a leg, will ya?
Joe Gardner: The leg won't make a difference, it's all in the wrist.
(Hector Rivera bursts out of the drawing as Joe Gardner shrieks in surprise.)
Hector Rivera: Ay! I haven't seen a fall like that since Spain. (fixes the chair) Oh! Much better.
(At the men's room, Hopper, 4*Town and Chef Skinner freshen up as Chef Skinner blows a kiss and chuckles. Suddenly, Tuck and Roll appear in front of his eyes, laughing, as Jessie opens the door.)
Jessie: Let's move it, gentlemen!
(While Lorenzo Paguro tries to free his wife Daniela Paguro from her picture, Giulia Marcovaldo walk with Buster, Mr. Mittens, Larry and Machivelli.)
Giulia Marcovaldo: Uh-huh. Meeting at the lobby. Don't eat the rats.
(Scud tries to eat Remy and Emile but Dante pops up and scares Scud away, thus saving the rats' lives. While Izzy and her team walk by, Mei Lee and her friends watch a cartoon on a TV.)
Izzy Hawthorne: Come on, everyone, you're gonna have nightmares.
(Zurg pops out of the TV and scares Mei Lee and her friends away, laughing. Back at the elevator, Roz makes it in time.)
Roz: Thanks very much for holding the elevator.
Rex: (groans)
Evelyn Deavor: I'm also going to the lobby as well.
Rex: Huh? Oh, come on!
(While M-O is being followed and annoyed by Dot, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson follow down the stairs, where Mr. Anderson is the one to drop his wallet and they laugh. Buster picks up the wallet and runs off with it.)
Mr. Anderson: Hey, Buster! Andy, get your dog!
(Woody follows up the stairs as he looks amused when he sees Underminer leading Colette Tatou with his hypnosis watch.)
Woody: Underminer? Underminer! You-- You stop that now, Underminer!
Rosie: Don't worry, Woody. (chuckles) I got this.
(Rosie hits Underminer offscreen unconsciously.)
Woody: Huh. (gasps) Wow.
(Woody looks up at photographs of John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, Lee Unkrich and Joe Ranft while he takes his hat off.)
Buzz Lightyear: Oh, Woody, where are you? We're at the lobby!
Woody: (chuckles) Got to go, but thanks. (puts his hat back on) On with the show.
(At the lobby, Woody rides on WALL-E with a fire extinguisher)
Woody: Yee-haw!
Mike Wazowski: Coast is clear, Sheriff.
Woody: Great! (holds the door open) Right this way, everybody.
(Sulley bumps into the door.)
Woody: Oh! Sulley, are you okay?
James P. Sullivan: (grunts) Never better, Eastwood. (accidentally trips the trash can)
Stinky Pete: I knew I'm surrounded by... (gets startled by Slim who rides on EVE) Idiots!
Slim: Tallyho! Whee! I'll show you the world! (laughs)
Woody: Oh, great, the ladder.
(Buzz sets the ladder while he hums.)
Mr. Dicker: Every time it gets hard. Money, money, money.
Woody: All right, everyone. Get-- Get together now. (to Tinny) Oh. After you, Tinny.
Emile: Oh. Pardon me.
Francis: (holds up a camera) Here's the camera, Lightyear.
Buzz Lightyear: (takes a camera and chuckles) Thanks, Francis. (climbs up the ladder)
Woody: Buzz, be careful!
Buzz Lightyear: (makes it to the top) All right, now where's the timer button?
Molt: Oh, oh! Three, two, one! (Randall Boggs grins)
(Buzz accidentally falls off while he screams and breaks the camera. As Buster walks to the broken camera, Buzz recognizes it.)
Andy Davis: Come on, Buster. (Buster runs back to Andy)
Buzz Lightyear: Huh? Oh, no. It's ruined.
Anger: Well, that was fun!
Sadness: Maybe we can try again in another forty years.
(The characters sigh disappointedly and are about to leave.)
Woody: Oh, no, no, wait. Come back. It-- It-- It'll be fine. It'll be...
(Just as the characters are about to leave, Randy Newman appears from nowhere while he plays "You've Got a Friend in Me" on piano with his orchestra.)
Randy Newman: ♪ You've got a friend in me ♪

(While the song goes on, Mr. Incredible fixes the camera as Buzz looks excited and Sulley puts the ladder back in position. Manny and Gipsy lift Buzz to help him up as Buzz sets the camera up for the photo.)

Well, I think this is the transcript. I hope you like it. I also hope Pixar does a new short film like Once Upon a Studio did. Have a Happy New Year.

I've been having some very strange trouble with my mech lately that I haven't been able to track down the source of. I was hoping you could help?
Also, just to get it out of the way, I do not have a Manticore. I don't know why everyone keeps asking me that. As far as I know, I've never even seen a HORUS frame outside of holos, and I certainly don't have any licenses for one. And yes, I have checked what licenses I'm recorded as owning just to make sure. I've checked three times, because people would not stop going on about it until I'd done it in front of them.
Now that that's cleared up, I pilot a custom quadrupedal Everest that's been refitted to have a small two-person apartment in it. That all went off fine, but ever since I decided to integrate a new laser directly into the chassis, the toilet's started flushing itself at seemingly random intervals, and about half the time when I fire it the kettle turns on.
Regards, Brimstone
P.S.: Speaking of laser systems, my lancemate's NHP designed one for her, and she figured she could do the install herself, but she's really been struggling with it recently and doesn't want to admit to needing her help for it. Any advice on connecting a customised GMS supercell blaze generator to a standard HA torch emitter?
With regards to the first question: it seems like you've linked them directly to the same power source. When your laser vents heat or fires, it's overloading the other systems on the same circuit, and causing them to activate. You can solve this by giving the laser a direct reactor connection, rather than attaching it to the expansion port.
With regards to the second: She'll probably need to install a voltage converter, since the two components aren't made by the same manufacturer. It should be fairly easy to acquire one from GMS. Additionally, they're constructed from different polycarbons, so she'll need to use an adhesive rather than attempting to fuse or magnaweld them.

It’ll never happen but I think it’d be AMAZING if the soundtracks to the Monument Mythos got a vinyl record release!
This needs to happen!
And it should look something like this:
Tumblr media
*mirrors lie twice*
And we need it now, tonight.
That would be amazing!
Just saying hypothetically

'Honor Among Enemies' --A Review
Tumblr media
I’m back on the Honor Harrington train for 2024 with Honor Among Enemies and this time, Honor is being recalled back to active duty with the Royal Manticoran Navy– only this time, there’s a little bit of a hitch.
When last we left her, Harrington had been forced into exile on Grayson. Her longtime nemesis, Lord Pavel Young had killed the man she loved Paul Tankersly and in turn, Harrington had killed him. In exile on Grayson, she had set to work building out her Steading and confronting extremists on Grayson that want to overturn what they consider to be a dangerously modern new order which gives women things like ‘the ability to have an education’ and ‘the right to speak in public.’ Having see that challenge off, she’s still on Grayson when Manticore comes calling again.
Things are not going that great in their ongoing war against the People’s Republic of Haven. After a coup throws the Peeps into chaos for awhile, they’ve now recovered their footing a bit and the war is getting rougher for both sides. While the Peeps and Manticore are going at it, however, a new problem is bedeviling Manticore: pirate attacks on their commercial shipping have increased, especially in the lawless Silesian Confederacy and if something isn’t done about it soon, the commercial houses will be forced to stop shipping and the economic consequences of that could be disastrous for Manticore.
They can’t pull any of their big ships off the front line of the war, so who do they turn too? Why the one Captain they can rely on to do more with less because she has a proven track record of doing just that: Honor Harrington.
Harrington and company (her armsmen are with her, her faithful steward Mac, Cardones, Gibson, Harkness– familiar faces that have served with her before in the previous books all show up) get to work souping up the Q-Ships (fast picket ships, not heavy hitters typically) with enough armament to stand up to potential pirates and then they head out on convoy duty and the adventure begins.
I’m kind of torn on this book: it feels like a step backward from the previous two books, which saw Harrington go through some trauma (losing Paul) and then retreat in exile to Grayson where she confronts more challenges (because that’s what these books are about) but more importantly, heals herself a little bit. I’ve said it before and I’ve said it again: the sheer numbers of losses that Harrington goes through in terms of people under her command that she loses would have an affect on anyone and I really liked that Weber took the time to have her actually sit with that and come to terms with it a little bit.
This feels like a reset back to the formula of the early early books. Yes, in the arc of the series, you probably need this to be a bridge novel to get Honor back into the Manticoran fold (and I think that’s exactly what this is about) but it feels like a retread in many ways. She’s facing overwhelming odds and doesn’t have the biggest, fastest,  heaviest armed ships– but she’s got ingenuity and good old fashioned know how to confront the problems and get the job done, but pays a cost for it. It’s more or less Basilisk Station stuck in a blender and throw in some pirates for good measure and it’s kind of disappointing.
Her antagonist from Basilisk Station shows up: Klaus Hauptmann, shipping magnate is the one who pushes Manticore to do something about it and even suggests sending Harrington, because he figures it’s a win-win: either Harrington gets the job done and protects his shipping or she dies trying and a woman he dislikes is taken off the board. Standard issue villain stuff for the series, but for some reason he decides to actually go out there himself! With his daughter!
I don't want to make it seem like it's all bad with this book, to the contrary there are a few interesting developments worth touching on:
First, this we get to meet the Andermanis for the first time and they are a wild blend of German/Chinese culture and I like them. They're a player in galactic affairs, but they're not as big of heavy hitters as Manticore or Haven, but they've got some game and they're very interested in the Silesian Confederacy and have a vested interested in making sure it's not a complete mess, so are friendly to Honor and company as they pass through on convoy duty. (i feel like we're going to see more of them in future books.)
Second, we've got the Wanderman Plot. War being what it is, Honor's crew has it's fair share of ne'er do wells and trouble makers along with really new, green recruits and one of them, Wanderman, runs afoul of the biggest and baddest asshole of the crew, Stielman and after he gets his shit kicked in, everyone knows who did it, but Wanderman won't admit it. He gets taken under the wing of the Marine Contingent, learns to defend himself and eventually, gets his own back against Stielman. It's a nice B-Plot and I hope we see more of Wanderman in the future-- I'm betting we will, since Weber seems to bring folks back now and again in this series- usually when you're least expecting them to show up.
Finally, we get some Treecat Action and Nimitz, Honor's Treecat gets a mate with the Engineer's Treecat, Samantha. That means that they're going to have go on maternity to leave until she's delivered her babies and we explore Honor's slightly souped-up bond with Nimitz that isn't quite full telepathy, but does allow her to sense the emotions of other humans and she actually shares that with the Engineer, but... because this is Honor Harrington and she can't have nice things and happy endings- at least not complete ones, the Engineer ends up dying and she feels the breaking of the bond with his Treecat, Samantha, who does survive, but it traumatized and depressed by the experience.
Overall, I'd say by itself, there are better books in this series. When you put in terms of the arc of the entire series, this feels like a bridge novel (we'll have to see if that proves correct when I get to the next one in the series) but I'm also left with the notion that it was kind of a necessary novel as well, despite feeling like something of a retread. For sure, Honor is back from exile. She's also thinking about promotion- if not to Commodore, then to Admiral and while she acknowledges she will miss just commanding a starship, she also doesn't seem to hate the idea of getting to develop the big picture strategy of the war either. Some interesting things in this book, but largely, just okay for me, so My Grade: ** out of ****

I think I’ve drawn Magic/Butler Man more than Simon or Marcy in this au at this point-
Anyway, here’s the updated design for Butler man with some injuries/scars from when he lost his magic and a few scars from the M.A.R.G.L.E.S. Incident, as well as a design for the video tape bird (based off of a lyrebird, since it can record and play audio). Also featuring Rattleballs and Tiny Manticore.

NRC’S Bestiary Survival Guide: Savanaclaw Edition
[Running your fingers over the colorful tabs, you skip over the bright red tab of Heartslabyul and pull open the book by the golden-yellow tab. The next segment in the book that greets you is…a mess. Although the ink is dry, the following pages are looking a little worse for wear. Between the sand, sweat, mud, and food stains, it’s a mystery how any of the sketches or text are still legible! It also appears that there are notes from different people scattered across the pages.]
It’s been almost two weeks since I started this project, and at this rate I don’t know how this book is going to survive this school—let alone Savanaclaw. Things have somewhat calmed down since the Magift Tournament, though I’m starting to wonder if they’ve always been this…high-strung or if it’s a result of what happened since then. I think I should scan these pages in before something happens during my visit…
Shishishishi, you really had your work cut out for ya, huh? Shouldn’t have come during Magift practice this morning.
I went ahead and took pictures of everything already just in case. But only because you worked hard on the book!
Right…don’t expect me to read all this, herbivore…
Anyway, the next dorm on the list is Savanaclaw. Many of its members are considered the most physically powerful and cunning of the student body, ranging from minotaur to werewolves. Among the current members are:
Leona Kingscholar: Manticore species. The king of Savanaclaw, he reigns supreme over the students in his dorm…when he’s not napping of course, but even then, no one dares mess with the king. With large bat-like wings, quills hidden in his mane, and a deadly scorpion tail, the words “soft” and “cuddly” do not come to mind. The manticore species are known for the deadly venom they carry—the stronger the magic, the more potent and deadly the results. The quills are hollow and fragile, meaning they can hook onto anyone foolish enough to attack them head on—provided they can avoid the projectile quills on the tail of course. When relaxed enough though, this is the best time to interact with Leona as the quills will lie flat and be harder to spot or snag. He doesn’t mind face rubs (fastest way to make him fall asleep if you don't pull his cheeks. The record is ten seconds when grumpy), ear rubs, and chin scratches, though it turns out he has a particular weakness for having someone run their fingers through their hair.
Can’t imagine anyone thinkin’ of trying that with a manticore’s spines being so close. Humans must be either really brave or really stupid!
Ace mentioned something before about how they seem to fit in with everyone at Heartslabyul. Perhaps humans pack bond like we do?
Ruggie Bucchi: Cocotta/Leucrocotta species. Hyena-like monsters, the Leucrocotta (also known by multiple names, though apparently that’s dependent on the region in Twisted Wonderland they’re in) are a force to be reckoned with as the most skilled vocal mimics. With hyena ears and spots, it’s a little jarring to see cloven hooves instead of claws and a lion-like tail rather than the short tail typically seen on hyenas—not that Twisted Wonderland actually follows the same rules as Earth anyway. Make no mistake though, Ruggie is fast and strong—though he’s particularly weak to ear rubs and is incredibly ticklish, though be warned as the hyena laugh has a somewhat scary undertone.
…you’re ticklish?
Hey! No tickling while I’m on the job! Sheesh…
Jack Howl: Fu dog species. Elegant and powerful, fu dogs are known as guardians and loyal companions with the strength of a lion and the durability of deep slate stone. They tend to travel in pairs according to Ruggie, though for some reason Jack is the only Fu dog or “Shishi” at NRC. As intimidating as they can be with their mist-like manes and tails and long fangs, it comes as a surprise to discover that they may exhibit more canine-like—perhaps even puppy-like—behavior, though it’s difficult to say if this is a common behavior in the species or if it’s Jack specific. Jack himself can transform into a massive beast form that’s as tall as a Belgian horse, and the best places to pet are: head and ears (humanoid form) and head, ears, and belly rubs (beast form)…possibly any other place dogs normally like, though have not had a chance to test.
Awwww, who’s a good little pupper~?
Heh, I guess our little guard puppy has a weak spot. How cute…
T-That’s-!!
[The rest of the page is covered in a large stain, as though someone had spilled coffee or tea on the paper and ruined the ink to the point the remaining words were faded. Somehow the rest of the pages after were legible. Just before reaching the silver-white tab separating the next dorm section, there seems to be a random page from school paper sticking out depicting a tiny child looking suspiciously like Leona, only bearing a pair of feathery wings instead of bat ones. The child is standing next to a childishly drawn renditions of what seems to be Yuu holding the child’s hand.]
Cheka Kingscholar: Shedu species. Quite possibly the most adorable little child ever seen, Cheka is part of the royal family and a member of the shedu species. According to Ruggie, the shedu are known as protective guardians with close ties to the stars and life itself. In Twisted Wonderland, it’s rumored that they can travel through the stars and gain strength from constellations to protect all life around them. Even tiny Cheka—still a cub—can create paths of grass and flowers with each step, and perhaps someday he may be able to create an oasis just like his father. Cheka is a cuddlebug, so he loves snuggles and ear scratches, and face rubs are the quickest way to get him to fall asleep. Despite supposedly being two different species in the same family, he absolutely adores his uncle and somehow he never seems to get injured on Leona’s quills.
