Experience the Magic of Jordan's Bedouin Culture on a Private Tour
Nestled in the heart of the Middle East, Jordan is a land of ancient wonders, rich history, and breathtaking landscapes. From the iconic city of Petra to the mesmerizing desert of Wadi Rum, Jordan offers a unique and enchanting travel experience that transports visitors back in time. Beyond the well-known tourist attractions, one of the most remarkable aspects of Jordan is its Bedouin culture, deeply ingrained in the country’s heritage and lifestyle. To truly immerse yourself in this fascinating culture, there’s no better way than embarking on a private tour that takes you off the beaten path, connecting you with local Bedouin communities. In this article, we’ll explore the magic of Jordan’s Bedouin culture and why a private tour is an ideal way to experience it.
The Bedouin Culture: A Glimpse into Jordan’s Past
For thousands of years, the Bedouin people have roamed the deserts of Jordan, embracing a nomadic way of life that revolves around tradition, family, and respect for nature. Their distinct culture and customs are an essential part of Jordan’s identity, reflecting a deep connection to the land and an unyielding spirit of hospitality.
A private tour allows you to gain an intimate understanding of the Bedouin way of life, as you interact with locals, listen to their captivating stories, and partake in age-old traditions passed down through generations. From savoring authentic Bedouin cuisine to joining in their lively folk dances, you’ll find yourself captivated by the warmth and sincerity of these welcoming people.
The Magic of Wadi Rum: Bedouin Heartland
A jewel in Jordan’s crown, Wadi Rum is a vast desert wilderness that is truly awe-inspiring. Often referred to as the “Valley of the Moon,” this otherworldly landscape of sand dunes, towering cliffs, and rocky mountains creates a surreal setting that leaves visitors breathless.
Wadi Rum is not just a place to visit; it’s a place to experience. With a private tour, you’ll have the chance to explore the desert like a true Bedouin, riding on camels through the dunes, sleeping under a blanket of stars in traditional Bedouin tents, and engaging in campfire storytelling with local Bedouin guides. Through their eyes, you’ll witness the magic of Wadi Rum come to life, leaving an indelible mark on your heart.
A Journey to the Rose-Red City: Petra
No visit to Jordan is complete without a pilgrimage to the ancient city of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Carved into vibrant rose-red cliffs, Petra stands as an architectural marvel that transports visitors back to an era of grandeur and mystery.
A private tour of Petra grants you exclusive access to the lesser-known parts of this historic city, ensuring a more personalized and enriching experience. Accompanied by knowledgeable guides, you’ll unveil hidden treasures, learn about the secrets of the Nabataean civilization, and witness the intricate craftsmanship that adorns each facade. Additionally, your Bedouin hosts will share their deep-rooted connection to Petra, as it holds immense significance in their cultural heritage.
Encounters with Bedouin Hospitality
One of the highlights of a private tour in Jordan is the opportunity to encounter Bedouin hospitality at its finest. The Bedouin people are renowned for their generosity and genuine warmth towards visitors. Throughout your journey, you’ll be welcomed into their tents, treated to traditional Arabic coffee and tea, and offered a taste of the famous zarb, a delicious Bedouin barbecue cooked underground.
Bedouins take great pride in sharing their way of life with travelers, engaging in heartfelt conversations and creating connections that transcend cultural boundaries. This authentic exchange offers a unique perspective on the human experience, leaving you with a profound sense of appreciation for the Bedouin culture and its age-old values.
Preserving Bedouin Traditions: A Sustainable Tourism Approach
As the world becomes more interconnected, preserving traditional cultures has become increasingly important. Tourism, when managed responsibly, can be a driving force in sustaining indigenous ways of life. Engaging in a private tour with a responsible tour operator ensures that your journey contributes positively to the well-being of local Bedouin communities.
By partaking in experiences that are organized in partnership with Bedouin locals, you support their livelihoods and encourage the preservation of their customs and heritage. Responsible tourism empowers Bedouin families to continue their traditional practices, promoting a harmonious relationship between visitors and the host culture.
Conclusion
Jordan’s Bedouin culture is a treasure trove of wisdom, history, and enchantment that can only be fully appreciated through authentic experiences. A private tour in Jordan not only allows you to witness the wonders of this fascinating country but also provides a rare chance to connect with its people on a personal level. From the vast deserts of Wadi Rum to the ancient city of Petra, every moment spent with the Bedouin reveals a magic that lingers long after you’ve left their embrace.

The crumbling Pakistani economy with huge current accounts deficit is on the verge of bankruptcy. Pakistan saw many changes in the policies and ministers but saw no change in economy. In such desperate situation, Pakistan was facing huge debt from IMF, World Bank and many other organizations. Then in 2013 the Chinese President visited Pakistan investing 50 billion dollars in energy sectors, upgradation of transportation, making new economic zones and specially the development of world’s deepest sea port Gwadar.
Gwadar is in Pakistan’s largest but the least developed province Baluchistan; a city with long run insurgency. So, is CPEC being a game changer for the Pakistani Economy? Well yes and no. Due to CPEC the Pakistani road network system has improved with addition of new expressways, motorways along tunnels with massive infrastructure improvement. CPEC also has 6 Billion USD investment for the upgradation and dualization of railway. It has made Gwadar a tax-free zone with better trade opportunities. The South Asian country also has energy crisis and CPEC has many energy projects, few of them completed while other being developed. The issue is that even after completion of several projects; unemployment is on the rise with high inflation. Moreover, there is anger among few locals in the Baluchistan province for unjust deals. Many fishermen say that they have been deprived of their right of fishing. It’s of no doubt that Pakistan has seen massive infrastructure development along more energy production. But is the common class happy? Statistics show that majority is disappointed because of no improvement in economy. The GDP per capita is falling and loans are on all time high. Many critics of CPEC have thoughts that Pakistan will never be able to pay China back these loans; meaning Chinese interference in country.
At the same time the pro government and CPEC mass is happy and hopeful for a bright future of Pakistan. The Government has made claims that CPEC has been a cause of major trade boom in country, which is true to some extent. According to me the most important thing for the success of CPEC is the stability in the region. Once Gwadar port fully operational will be a gateway to Central Asian Republics which are landlocked and a major trade route for China towards Europe. CPEC will be the gamechanger as good things take time or devastating. But it has taken the broken economy towards the right direction. Pakistani neighbors are quite displeased, especially India as it can be a major cause for positive progress in Pakistan.
The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), by and by under development at an expense of $46 billion, intends to improve Pakistani foundation and extend the monetary and political ties among China and Pakistan. CPEC is beneficial to Pakistan yet additionally conveys considerable monetary and key advantages for China. Its significance for China is apparent from the way that it is essential for China's thirteenth five-year improvement plan. CPEC will support ties among China and Pakistan, which share a background marked by amicable key relations, over an adaptable campaign of common enthusiasm stretching out more than sixty years. In the previous 65 years, the two nations have created solid reciprocal exchange and financial joint effort. China is Pakistan's biggest exchanging accomplice imports and fares. Furthermore, CPEC is going further to improve the rewarding financial participation between the two nations.
The undertaking will make almost 700,000 new openings and mean 2.5 percent to Pakistan's yearly development rate. CPEC has unquestionable monetary and vital significance for Pakistan and China. It has been known as a distinct advantage for Pakistan since it will interface China with business sectors in Central Asia and South Asia. By and by China is nearly 13,000 km from the Arabian Gulf with a delivery season of around 45 days. CPEC will recoil this separation to only 2,500 km (a 80 percent decrease). The delivery time will decrease to 10 days (a 78 percent decrease). The main part of China's exchange is through the limited ocean channel of the Strait of Malacca. Top security examiners state that in case of a future battle in Asia, the US Navy could hinder the Strait of Malacca, which would choke out China's shipping lane. CPEC, other than giving a backup course of action, will diminish the delivery time from China to Europe.
The biggest aspect of the task would give power to energy-parched Pakistan, seriously influenced by long stretches of day by day planned force cuts in view of power deficiencies, in light of on building new coal-terminated force plants. The plans conceives including 10,400 megawatts of power at an expense of $15.5 billion by 2018. Furthermore, after 2018 a further 6,600 megawatts, at an extra expense of $18.3 billion, will be included, multiplying Pakistan's flow power yield. The CPEC brings numerous advantages for China and Pakistan, yet it is likewise tested by security-related and political dangers.
There are two significant wellsprings of danger: Indian contribution, and the nonconformist resistance in Baluchistan where the port of Gwadar is arranged. The two elements of danger are interconnected in light of the fact that ongoing captures of Indian covert operatives by Pakistan uncover that the Indian government is going through an immense measure of cash and assets on disrupting the CPEC venture.
Aside from reconnaissance exercises, India is additionally supporting the Baloch rebels. By and by, Pakistan is well-prepared, with sufficient security and foundation backing to adequately manage such difficulties. Activity "Zarb-e-Azb," which has gotten worldwide acknowledgment, has flushed out the significant piece of radicals from Pakistan's dirt. The political side of the undertaking for Pakistan is additionally not ruddy. It is consistently hard to accomplish political agreement on an issue. The Kalabagh dam venture, for instance, which is viewed as critical in tending to Pakistan's water-deficiency issues, has been exposed to political discussion and still anticipates development.
Comparative recipes are being applied to CPEC. Drums of provincialism are being thumped uproariously to make CPEC another Kalabagh dam. Nonetheless, this time mental stability has won in the political initiative and debates were stopped from really developing at a beginning phase. Other than the endeavors of political pioneers, the commitment of the Army boss ought not go overlooked. He took an extraordinary enthusiasm for this venture and gave — and guaranteed to the future — the Pakistan Army's full help for the uber financial undertaking.
CPEC can possibly convey enormous financial advantages for the individuals of Pakistan and the locale. As per an ongoing evaluation, CPEC will serve three billion individuals, almost 50% of the worldwide populace. Consequently a gigantic monetary coalition is going to rise up out of this area. On finish of the CPEC, Pakistan will turn into an associating extension to three motors of development: China, Central Asia, and South Asia.
It will make numerous positions and lift Pakistan to high development rates, which will guarantee Pakistan's strength and fill in as a hindrance to radicalism and savagery. The fulfillment of CPEC won't be a simple undertaking since it has pulled in global intrigues, against which it must be secured.
The financial profits of this task, by associating all the economies of the area, will be high to such an extent that once this undertaking is in full-activity even our neighbor India may at last join the club for more prominent monetary advantages.

Minnie Marks - Young Talented Australian Queer Musician
How can there be nothing about Minnie on tumblr until now!!!
Minnie Marks is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/multi instrumentalist, bringing out her first album when she was 16. She toured Australia with her parents until she moved to Germany at 17, playing in different cities for a few years. Her second album came out when she was 21. Minnie has been performing live solidly for 10 years at least, has played live hundreds of times, playing for small town fans all over Australia multiple times as well as at larger festivals like the Australian Blues Festival, Byron Bay Blues Festival and soon, the 2020 Brisbane Mojo Burning Festival.
Tumblr media
She describes her music as dirty sweet rock & roll.
Her younger years inspired by the sounds of Sarah McLeod, Baby Animals, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, BB King, Neil Young, Stevie Ray, Hendrix, Daddy Cool, Concrete Blonde and more.
“Her first performance was at the age of 10 at a local club jam session. Nervous, young Marks pushed through to discover performing was not only a hobby, but a life ambition. “I just wanted to try something new, at the time I did a few rounds in Australia and it was a lot of fun, but why not travel a couple of hundred kilometres and play in France or Switzerland. During my time there it worked really well and I was able to knuckle down,” she said” After 5 years, She was homesick for Australia's Blues and Rock community. Minnie brought out her 3rd album last year.
She toured recently with Hussy Hicks, playing at Mardi Gras 2019. She's played along side Luca Stricagnoli, Michael Fix and Matt Zarb amongst others. She has had an eclectic mix of musicians around her since she started gigging. Multiple Australian artists have praised her:
Tumblr media
“Minnie Marks, she plays guitar like nothing I’ve ever seen before, she sings like Janis Joplin, she’s going to blow the world apart.” – Kim Churchill
"Damn, I don't think I've ever seen a female shred harder than you in the flesh" - Dallas Frasca
“You’re awesome, Let’s jam again soon” - Joe Robinson
“So I heard you’re better than my brother” - Phil Emmanuel
“You rock..man. It's not easy to fill that much space with only an acoustic, but you were killing it! I hope we get to jam in the future” - Tyler Bryant
“You rock baby, you’re killing it. The world is your oyster. If I were an army lieutenant with a shirt full of medals I would give you one. You’re my hero, I’m shakin’ in my boots. One word, PRODIGY!” - Sarah McLeod (ex Superjesus)
“One of the finest young guitar players in the country” - Julz Parker (Hussy Hicks)
“SHREDS!” – Mama Kin
“Minnie Marks is an extraordinary performer, I have never seen or heard anything quite like her, Minnie plays guitar, sings and stomps like her every breath depends upon it, her passion and wonderful sense of fun is refreshing.” – Michael Barker (John Butler’s ex drummer, touring drummer for the Split Enz)
“You have to come and see this girl, she makes every other musician look ordinary” –Gypsie Howls
“Lloyd Spiegel introduced Minnie as one of the best guitarists he's seen, full stop. High praise from a man whose flying fingers have people standing up shouting for more.”
Tumblr media
Ive been loving this artist since 2012 at least, seeing her live a few times. After being introduced to her by a friend, I saw her live at the Byron Blues fest in 2012. I instantly had a musical crush, admiring her amazing skills, her raw and powerful voice, her down to earth presence and her overall beautiful and bewitching self. That year I was involved in a youth festival called ‘Vibadelix’. I pushed for Minnie to be included in the line up. She performed, at a lower fee than her usual, as it was a fundraiser and youth event. I celebrated as she publicly shared of her lovership with a woman, celebrating that she had finally found someone who genuinely loved and treated her well and that she had finally come out to the world as apart of LGBTIQ community.
Some of my fave songs are One in a Million, Voodoo and Honey, Jack in the Box and Lady Luck, but what I appreciate is that her songs in general are unique and relatable. I am loving seeing her journey and looking forward to hearing new songs as she passionately continues.
has anyone else on tumblr seen Minnie live already??

Neaux French Left Behind/ Bonus 9 Addendum
If you listened to our episode about varieties of French in Louisiana, you might have some questions. And if you listened to our bonus, you might have even more (unless you know a lot about French). (And don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss an episode!)
How many people speak Louisiana Creole? fewer than 10k
How many speak Louisiana regional French? probably around 150k
Why does it matter if French is no longer spoken in LA? Because it matters to the people of LA.
What were the differences between Louisiana Creole and Louisiana Regional French mentioned by Dr. Dajko?
She mentioned a few that weren’t totally clearcut:
The high front rounded vowel (/y/) is usually unrounded in Louisiana Creole, less so in Louisiana Regional French (/y/ → /i/) so tu ‘you (sg)’ /ty/ becomes /ti/ (although, it also seems to have become /to/, which is nice and confusing)
post-vocalic r (/ʁ/) is more often dropped in creole (like Boston or London r-lessness, where ‘car’ is pronounced ‘cah’): bonjour becomes bonjou
She mentioned more that were better diagnostics:
There’s no gender marking in Louisiana Creole; gender maintained in Louisiana Regional French.
The pronominal systems are different. Louisiana Regional French has a system much closer to standard French. For example, moi became mo in Louisiana Creole, and it is used in subject position (moi, je + verb became mo + verb). Example: Mo té kourí ô Villaj. I past travel to village “I went to Lafayette.”
In French, there is a process called liaison, where a consonant is only pronounced when the following word is vowel-initial. For example, les tables [letabl] (~lay tahbl) (no /z/) ‘the tables’ vs. les ouiseaux [lezwazo] (~lay zwahzoh) (/z/ shows up) ‘the birds’. In many creoles (and Michif), the /z/ gets reanalyzed as part of the noun. So ouiseau ‘bird’ often becomes zwazo. For example, in Michif, the word for ‘egg’ oeuf got borrowed as zaf (where the /z/ comes from the liaison from the article les). Same with ‘tree’ arbre, which becomes zarb. In Mauritian Creole (another French creole), ‘almond’ is zamann (the /z/ comes from liaison originally). In Louisiana Creole, the word for ‘bird’ is zozo. Louisiana Regional French maintains a more regularized liaison process.
The article follows the noun in Louisiana Creole: maison la instead of la maison. This is also common in French creoles (and likely isn’t a reversal, but comes from a different morpheme).
In possession, Louisiana Creole uses gagner ‘to win’ for ‘to have’ (as do some other varieties of French). Louisiana Regional French uses avoir ‘to have’. She provided us with a test sentence to distinguish between the two varieties:
I have 5 dollars = mo gen senk pyas (Louisiana Creole) vs. j’ai cinq pias (Louisiana Regional French)
(senk pyas sounds exactly the same as cinq pias, so the only differences are the pronouns mo vs. j’ and gen (from gagner) vs. ai (from avoir).)

Don't blame the media for Corbyn's failure - blame him
Tumblr media
By Chaminda Jayanetti
"Things can never get better". For four years that was the jibe issued by Corbynites to Labour centrists critical of the party's shift to the left. In contrast to Tony Blair's campaign theme, his heirs believed that there was no alternative to austerity and privatisation, that gruel would always be the only choice on the political menu.
Since Labour's catastrophic defeat last week, "things can never get better" has now effectively become a Corbynite mantra. Apparently no leader could have avoided disaster. Anyone would have been savaged by the right wing press, just as Corbyn was. Nothing could have been done, it was everyone else's fault.
If this were true, Labour should just give up and disband. Certainly all those activists and outriders trotting out this line would do well to get out of the way. If they think last Thursday was the peak of Labour's electoral capacity, they have no answers to anything.
Labour does get extremely hostile media coverage from right-wing newspapers - though the influence of the Sun in particular is not what it was, and the Telegraph is almost exclusively read by non-Labour voters.
But Labour's problem does not lie primarily with newspaper coverage. The Guardian is hostile to the Tories, the Mirror effectively turns into a Labour party press office during election time and the Jennifer Arcuri revelations about Boris Johnson first emerged in the Murdoch press.
The bigger problem is in broadcast, particularly the BBC. The BBC has a far broader reach than any newspaper, particularly over short periods such as an election campaign, and comes with the insignia of trustworthiness. Confected rows over red hats and edited laughter obscure far greater issues with the national broadcaster, which had a poor election.
To give one example, the Tories' 'dossier' on Labour spending included demonstrably wrong figures and came direct from the Conservatives' spin department. It should never have been given mainstream broadcast coverage - it should have been limited to an online fact check and tossed in the bin.
Its political reporters display all the flaws of the Westminster lobby, focused on trivia and rumours over what most people would consider they pay the license fee for - factual reporting and analysis.
But criticism of the BBC, however legitimate, largely obscures the biggest reason why Corbyn got such negative press coverage: Corbyn himself.
The fact is that Labour could not have chosen a more electorally toxic leader if they tried. A man who had fellow-travelled with the IRA and Hezbollah, had opposed Britain on the world stage at every opportunity for nearly 40 years - including the Falklands, Bosnia and Kosovo - and had a longstanding tolerance of anti-Semites in his own political proximity. He was always going to receive negative media coverage, for the simple reason that there was so much to be negative about.
There was nonsense reporting of course, but tabloid smears about Czech spies paled into insignificance against Corbyn's botched response to the Salisbury attack. Media coverage of Corbyn cut through because it was based on reality. This wasn't bacon sandwich stuff. As so often with Corbyn's leadership, it was predictable and predicted. A British electorate that - rightly or wrongly - has always given high priority to national security and defence just wasn't going to trust him the way left-wing activists did.
The former Labour press officer Matt Zarb-Cousin is right that the Tories get to "play politics on easy mode". But Johnson's personal ratings fell sharply during the election campaign. Media coverage of him was often negative - the last days of the election focused on a child on a hospital floor and the prime minister in a fridge.
The fact is Labour's next leader will get mauled by the Tory press. Labour just has to deal with that - factor it in when choosing a new leader, and find a way around it once the leader has been chosen. Attacks based on nothing will always have less impact than attacks based on something - people voted in 2015 based on Ed Miliband's uncertain leadership, not a bacon sandwich.
Seumas Milne was on a six-figure salary to figure out how to prevent Tory attacks on Corbyn from hitting home - he wasn't qualified for the task and was never up to the job. Corbyn himself didn't help. Unlike John McDonnell, he showed little willingness to draw a line under the question marks raised by his past career, and so the doubts grew larger the closer he seemed to reaching Downing Street.
It is an unfortunate reality that the British electorate sees 'strong' leadership in narrow terms, ignoring the variety of leadership styles that are accepted in other fields, from business to football. Strong leaders are Britain's penis extension, even as the electorate mandates the self-immolation of Britain's actual strength. That is the reality. Moaning about it won't make it go away.
Labour is a political party. Its leader and senior staff are among the most powerful and highest paid people in Britain. They are not refugees, or benefit claimants, or children in care. They do have a defence against media attacks. In fact, they are their own defence. That is their job.
Even if the media is terrible, the terribleness of the media is not the abiding lesson of the Corbyn years - the terribleness of Corbyn and his henchmen at dealing with it is.

SARC Auction 37 Nets $1.85 Million
The folks at Stephen Album Rare Coins bring a substantial base of combined knowledge to the process of cataloging their high quality, diverse consignments. I think also that their bidders tend to be very well versed in the specialized fields in which they collect or trade. It is for these two broad reasons that I really enjoy bringing our readers previews or reviews of the SARC live and online auctions.
SARC Auction 37 was held June 11-14, 2020, at their offices in Santa Rosa, Calif., with great results. Both the strength of the coin market and of the SARC business model was on display as high prices and a huge sell-through of 96.5 percent of lots sold made this a fun event for all involved. I asked Michael Barry, Chief Operating Officer (COO) at SARC for sale totals and he supplied this information, “The total price realized was 1.85 million USD (including buyer’s fees), a new record for our growing auction house. Pre-sale estimate for the auction was 1.20 million USD.”
The “Pavilion” dollar was issued to commemorate the succession of Hsu Shih-chang to the office of President in 1918, and in celebration of his 67th birthday. This example was engraved for Dr. Ralph Garfield Mills and realized $130,900 with buyers’ premium.
One of the most exciting moments in SARC Auction 37 came when a Chinese silver “Pavilion” dollar sold for an astounding price of $130,900. Joseph Lang, CEO and Director of East Asian & Later Indian Numismatics relayed that, “This is more than three times higher than previous sales records for a Pavilion dollar (based on auction records available on CoinArchives Pro). The reason for the record-breaking price is that this piece was engraved for Dr. Ralph Garfield Mills (1881-1944) of Lincoln, Ill.”
I was only vaguely familiar with Dr. Ralph Garfield Mills before reading this wonderful background on him from the SARC Auction 37 lot listing:
“Dr. Mills was Professor of Pathology and Director of Research at Severance Medical College (now Severance Hospital of the Yonsei University Health System), from 1911 until 1918 in Seoul, Korea. According to the Johns Hopkins University circular “Annual Report of the Johns Hopkins University 1913-14” published in Baltimore, Md., in 1915, Dr. R. G. Mills, “an instructor in Pathology and Surgery resigned to become Professor of Pathology and Surgery in the new Peking Union Medical College in Peking, China in 1918.” He was also listed as the Vice-President of the Korea Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society in Seoul in 1916. In 1923 Dr. R. G. Mills was again head of the department of pathology of the Peking Union Medical College and he wrote about the previous year in which “two of the contending war lords whose forces were clashing near Peking retired from the sanguinary scene of their conflict leaving several hundred wounded soldiers in an old temple. The Peking Union Medical College authorities commandeered all the suitable vehicles that could be found and brought the wounded men into the great city hospital.” Dr. Ralph G. Mills and his wife, Ethel, served as missionaries in Korea and China.
CFO and Director of World Coins, Paul Montz, was happy with their Auction 37 results. “We were curious to see how this auction would do, with all the changes the pandemic has forced on the industry. We were pleased to see that the market appears to be stronger than ever. This strength carried throughout the auction in all categories.”
To prove the point, here are some additional stand-out highlights directly from the sales catalog with results tacked on after the pre-sale estimates:
LOT 1066: INDIA: MUGHAL EMPIRE: Jahangir, 1605-1628, gold square heavy mohur, Lahore, AH1015 year 2, KM-184.1, BMC-293 (1015 year 1) & 294 (1016 year 3), special presentation type from the early part of Jahangir’s reign, obverse legend has full name & patronymic shah nur al-din jahangir ebn akbar padshah, and the regnal year “2”; reverse legend ruy-e zar-ra sakht nurani be-rang-e mehr o mah, ”he made the face of money to shine with hues of the sun and moon,” and the mint formula zarb lahore, NGC graded AU-55. Estimated at $14,000 – 16,000 (Realized $26,180).
A beautiful square heavy mohur of the Mughal Empire under Jahangir. Both round and square heavy mohurs were struck during the first six years of his reign, replaced by standard weight rupees and mohurs during year 6. This is one of the best examples you will find. It realized $26,180 with buyer’s fee.
LOT 1462: CHINA: CHIHLI: Kuang Hsu, 1875-1908, silver dollar, Peiyang Arsenal mint, Tientsin, year 24 (1898), Y-65.2, L&M-449, dragon eyes in relief, a superb quality example with bright white original mint luster, a superb example. PCGS graded MS-63. Estimated at $15,000 – 20,000 (Realized $26,180).

Estimated at $2,000 – 3,000 (Realized $9,520).
LOT 102: ANCIENTS: SASANIAN KINGDOM: Shahpur (Sabuhr) I, 241-272, gold dinar (7.30g), Ctesiphon, G-21, diademed bust of Shapur right, wearing mural crown with korymbos // fire altar flanked by two attendants, each looking away from the fire and wearing mural crowns, two pellets right of the altar, lustrous and well struck example. ANACS graded MS-64. Estimated at $3,500 -4,000 (Realized $5,355).
SARC Auction 37 also offered selections from the H.F. Bowker Numismatic Library. Here too, prices were quite strong, particularly for some of the out of print works which have become increasingly difficult to locate. Here is one of the most outstanding highlights from the Bowker lots:
LOT 3689: NUMISMATIC LITERATURE: Schroeder, Albert, Annam Études Numismatiques, Paris, 1905, original printing, 651 pages, 111 fine phototype plates, in two volumes, one of text and one of plates, contemporary red cloth binding, original paper covers with the text volume hardbound, the standard French-language work on Vietnamese cash, silver, and gold and still the best work on gold and silver coinage, now extremely rare, RR, ex. H. F. Bowker Numismatic Library. Estimated at $300 – 500. (Realized $4,760).
Of course, I always like to dig a bit further and look for items which may have been overlooked by many, but were certainly seen by specialists. These are coins which may not have brought the stunningly high hammer prices, but which I had an eye on with high expectations. In most cases, in this sale these little trendsetters did not disappoint.
Early Panamanian coins in high grades always bring active buyers. This 2-1/2 centesimos of 1929 is the finest known example graded by either service at this time.
A Panama 2-1/2 centesimos of 1929, a one-year type as are many in the early coins of Panama, graded MS-66 by PCGS realized $2,200 on an estimate of $100-$150. The MS-65 value in the current Standard Catalog of World Coins is $165, but it is quite hard to locate these in grades any higher than that. An MS-66 is an oddity for the type and might be the finest known example, as NGC has not encountered any examples above MS-65 and this seems to be the first MS-66 graded by PCGS.
The Military bust of Yuan Shi Kai has been collected fervently in the dollar denomination for years. The fractionals, like this 10 cents, are now also in high demand and realizing staggering prices in the highest available grades.
The China Republic coins of Year 3 (1914) with Yuan Shi Kai in military uniform also did extremely well in SARC Auction 37, with a 10 cents and 20 cents each graded by PCGS as MS-64 realizing $2,400 apiece. In the past it was the dollar denomination which garnered the most collector interest, but those crown attitudes are changing. These prices were nearly 10 times each coin’s pre-sale estimate, so people are certainly paying attention now. Even the Yuan Shi Kai Year 3 (1914) 50 cents graded PCGS MS-62 realized a whopping $6,500. Those are shocking prices to me, and apparently to the SARC folks too. It’s definitely an area to watch.
The same is true of the Republic of China Dragon and Peacock coat of arms types Year 15 (1926) 10 and 20 cents in the sale. They were each graded MS-64 by PCGS and each realized a stunning $3,750. Collector or investor interest is really high right now for the minor types.
Deeply struck and nicely separated countermarks add to the eye appeal of this St. Eustatius countermarked stuiver. Locating one with both countermarks is difficult.
On the less traveled path, SARC Auction 37 offered a St. Eustatius double countermarked stuiver. The original SE countermarked 2 sous of St. Eustatius are offered for sale pretty often. You might see one or two for sale in any given year, without even looking too hard, but the second issue with SE and a second countermark of P are not often seen at all. The piece in SARC Auction 37 is a KM-4, one of only two ever available types with both the original SE countermark and the P countermark which was applied later. The 2 sous host coin is from the French colony of Cayenne, which today is the main city in French Guiana on the northeast coast of South America.
Background on St. Eustatius countermarked coinage in use during the British occupation of the island was provided through the SARC Auction 37 lot listing: “It was determined that only genuine Cayenne stuivers would be used as currency on St. Eustatius, and these were countermarked “SE” for St. Eustatius by Peter dit Flamand. In 1809, there were so many counterfeits in circulation that an additional “P” stamp was applied to genuine pieces.” There are several different versions of the SE stamps known, but I think there are only two P stamps confirmed. One has a double lined upright and rests in a plain circular indent. The other type is a raised solid P in a circle of dots, all in an incuse circle.
The SE and P stuiver in SARC Auction 37 was graded VF for countermarks and AG for the host. I would have placed it higher for both, based on typical appearance for these types. Either way, the pre-auction estimate range of $250-$350 was left far behind when the lot sold for $900, which is the exact value listed in the current SCWC for a VF example.
High grade Iraq mid-20th century types continued to surface at SARC in Auction 37. The one that caught my eye was a copper fils for Faisal I dated 1933/AH1352. This coin was graded MS-65 brown by PCGS. Again the final price was just short of 10 times its pre-sale estimate at $1,300. This type was a large mintage coin, but survival at this grade level must be very thin.
Finding high-grade coins of Lebanon from the French mandate era leading up to WWII can be difficult. But they do come up; as did a silver 25 piastres dated 1936 and struck at the Paris Mint. It’s one in a series of three denominations using this beautiful design of the traditional Lebanese arms and crossed cornucopias. Graded MS-63 by PCGS, the coin sold for well above its pre-sale estimate and even went above its catalog value by over 40 percent.
The Nepal highlight of SARC Auction 37 was a copper paisa struck under Tribhuvira Vir Vikram who ruled from 1911-1950. You’ll find that in the Standard Catalog of World Coins he is listed as Tribhuvana Bir Bikram, but I will leave pronunciation and spelling arguments to more educated language experts. The coin itself is cataloged as KM-686.2 and is noted as “believed to be a pattern.” If I recall correctly, this listing originated with the owner and current consigner of the coin Wolfgang Schuster. At the time it was added to the SCWC we had little idea of its value, except that it was quite rare. The final hammer price was $650, giving us a better notion of value today.
Both high-end and mid-range world coins were well represented in SARC Auction 37 and most everything sold and sold for premium value, as CFO and Director of World Coins, Paul Montz described. Consider it a good sign for the world coin market and a terrific indication of the growth of this firm. Look for more exciting sales in SARC’s future.

(via None can be coined as similitude of God)   Quran Chapter 36: 78 (Pt-23, Stg-5) (L-2740) درس قرآن None can be coined as similitude of God Chapter “YAA-SIIIN” – (YASIN) – 36 ‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim. (I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast) Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful) وَضَرَبَ لَنَا مَثَلًا وَنَسِىَ خَلْقَهُۥ قَالَ مَن يُحْىِ ٱلْعِظَٰمَ وَهِىَ رَمِيمٌ 78 78.  And he hath coined for Us a similitude, and hath forgotten the fact of his creation, saying: Who will revive these bones when they have rotted away? 78.  Wa  zaraba  laNaa  masalanw-wa  nasiya  khalqah.  Qaala  Many-yuhyil-‘izaama  wa  hiya  ramiim.Commentary Zaraba – (presented, coined), this word is in Past Tense from the word zarb, which has many meanings. However here it aims “to describe, to apply, to affix etc.” Ramiim – (rotted away, disintegrated), this word is an Adjective from the word rammun, which means “to be wasted after being old, to be scattered, to be rotten”. It is commanded: When the mankind became strong and able to speak; then he forgot entirely that what he was in the beginning and what he has become now. He had to know his real Creator and Lord; and pass his life in His worship, but most of the human beings did neither use their sense and nor recognize Allaah Almighty after looking Signs of His Divine Power into themselves. And when Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him) caused to understand them: Behold! Allaah Almighty created you, and bestowed qualities and powers of various sorts, sent His last Scripture (Holy Qur’an) for your guidance by means of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allaah be upon him), in Qur’an He explained that the mankind will be brought back to life again after death, he will be punished very severely if he disobeyed Allaah, His Messenger and Qur’an, then some people marked on their forehead by folding and began to say: When our bodies will rot and there will remain only a skeleton, even the bones of that skeleton will also be disintegrated due to being old and excavated, then Who can reproduce them? These ignorant people deny the Divine Power of Allaah Almighty and present an example of creatures for Him. O ignorant people! It is right that none from the creatures including any mankind can bring the rotten away bones back to life, but this example cannot be coined for Allaah Almighty. It is strange that the mankind forgets own birth. Life was given to him from only a trifle sperm-drop. If Allaah Almighty can make a man from that drop then what is difficult for Him in reproducing the mankind from scattered atoms of the bones?
