This recipe appears in Marvel's Voices: Comunidades.
I did mess with the recipe and I am the first to admit I am no expert in making tortillas. I did half masa/half bread flour and needed to up the amount of water to counter the masa. Does that count as following the comic book recipe? Maybe not. Did they taste good? Yeah, actually. Probably better than straight wheat flour ones.

the significance of peter b parker being the one to say this to miles..... because historically? yes, peter could never have it both. if he's spider-man, uncle ben has to die. if he has mj, then gwen stacy had to die. if hes going to spend his life doing good, its because a police captain had to die.
except, miles has never been anything like peter. if anything, miles is a character who is defined by having it both.
Miles Morales: Spider-Man (2019) #13 & Spider-Man (2022) #3
Marvel's Voices: Comunidades (2021)
miles gets to be spiderman while having living and loving parents. in the comics, his uncle dies, but he gets to have him back. where peter is a lone orphan, miles gets a baby sister. and unlike peter, miles is from two different ethnic backgrounds, and even from two different worlds. miles can always have it both, because he isn't and has never been peter parker.
its significant that its peter b parker Specifically who tells miles that he can't have it both, because its in peter's experience, in peter's canon, that he could never have it both. it's not 'spider-man' who cant have it both, its peter parker who cant have it both.
but miles morales isnt peter parker. his canon storylines arent the same as peter parker's. and peter parker isn't the only spider-man. miles morales is going to save his dad, save the multiverse, and all while being spider-man, because spider-man can do both.

I had let myself to be shammed by m**vel once again by thinking that if Julio is on the cover of Marvel's Voices - Comunidades - that means he will be featured in one of the stories, but - nope! He is a only a tiny background figure on one of the pages... shame ):

Also watched / read:
ANIMATED TV SHOWS
- Dead End: Paranormal Park.
Terrific all-ages mystery with horror touches, notable also for a trans gay boy being one of the leads. Based on a webcomic (that is, shall we say, intended for an older audience). Good atmosphere and intriguing plot.
- The legend of the three caballeros.
Something of a cult show, or perhaps a bridge between 90’s Disney cartoons (off-the-wall approaches to classic characters) and their current-day counterparts (a more cynical humor and a teensy bit of envelope-pushing). Very entertaining.
COMICS
- DC Pride 2022.
- DC Pride: Tim Drake Special.
- Marvel Voices: Pride (2022).
- Marvel Voices: Indigenous Voices.
- Marvel Voices: Heritage.
- Marvel Voices: Comunidades.
Assorted anthologies from the ‘big two’ (re: mainstream American superhero comics) centered on minorities —three about queer characters, two about Native American characters, one about Latino characters. All offer a welcome variety in their approaches to themes and representation. All feel like they could have gone much farther, but it is very much a step in the right direction.
MOVIES
- Black Panther. (Re-watched)
Holds up remarkably well less as representative of the by now bloated genre of live action superhero movies —than as the film that brought Afrofuturism to the mainstream. Still worth at least one watch.

"Shark-Girl’s Day Off" starring Shark-Girl
Written by Zoraida Córdova
Art by Yasmín Flores Montañez
Colors by Frank Williams
Novelist Zoraida Córdova and artist Yasmín Flores Montañez dive deep into the heart of Shark-Girl as she finds herself facing off with Namor!
"I chose to focus my story on Shark-Girl because she embodies the idea of a dual experience," Córdova revealed. "Her mutation allows her to belong to the sea and the land, and she doesn’t have to choose. I wanted to celebrate that and set it in one of my favorite places—Coney Island."
“The most fun part about getting to tackle Shark-Girl is portraying her spunky, upbeat personality and illustrating the fun, contrasting dynamic between her and Namor’s badass attitude," Montañez added. "As a big fan of the X-Men, it feels like a dream come true to be drawing her, especially in an anthology that celebrates my community. It’s my first time illustrating a story with Marvel Comics, and it makes me feel more excited, honored, and happy that it gets to be an anthology that celebrates Hispanic heritage.”
