Once you make peace with the fact that people are genuinely not okay in the mind, you watch how you react to everything. Approaching everything with empathy over reaction is a complex lesson it takes experience to learn.

Sons of Thunder -- Followers of Christ Filled with Anger
When Jesus passes through a Samaritan town in the last year of His ministry, two of His disciples, James and John, two of the men in the inner circle of His twelve, two of the three men He spent the most time with, demonstrated how far they had yet to grow in their discipleship. James and John had been nicknamed by Jesus as “sons of thunder.” (Mark 3:17) From a study of their character, you might…

Text
[In Matthew 5:44] Jesus is [radically] teaching that we must love all people unreservedly. The Old Testament law in Leviticus 19:18 had prescribed to love your neighbour as yourself. The word there used for ‘neighbour’ widens family love to include the whole people of God, but does not go beyond that. Here Jesus widens it further, to all the recipients of the Father’s rain, good and bad, honest and dishonest, [going far] beyond the confines of the Chosen People. More sharply still, it flies in the face of all natural reciprocal relationships by laying down love of enemies. [True,] nowhere in the Scripture does it say ‘you must hate your enemy’, but Jesus was given to making His point by means of emphatic contrasts, [since His teachings left no room for half-heartedness. Instead of attempting to justify hard feelings,] the Christian must make a point of initiating the breakdown of any enmity.

43 ¶ Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you

"CONFRONTING THE ENEMY'S TACTICS!"
Psalm 144:1, “Blessed be the Lord, my Rock and my keen and firm Strength, Who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight” (AMPC) The main tactic of the enemy is deception. “Deception” is defined as, “the act of causing someone to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid; to trick; to cheat; to defraud; to be dishonest.” And that’s exactly who the enemy is, a deceiver, liar and the…

Paul says Revenge is a Dish You Should Serve... How?
Paul says Revenge is a Dish You Should Serve… How?
If you read the news, you can’t help but see the baser elements of human nature played out in headlines. Giving and taking offense give way to wanting and taking revenge. We live in a culture that says it is ok to take revenge on those who wrong us. We have rap stars who get into spats, criticism of the President from the other side, and trolls on social media who attack virtually any point of…

"Vodka is Not a Beverage"
A friend I met in Israel, lives in the Hollywood Hills and writes books for living. (Great job if you have the talent for it and Tom Bissell has it.). Anyway, in one of his books, Chasing the Sea: Lost Among the Ghosts of Empire in Central Asia, says the Vodka is not a beverage. “It is a memory-erasing headache fuel.” (p. 199 in the paperback edition). He’s probably right but I want to use his…
