Princess Peach Showtime: my merch! ✨

I know it's been almost two months since the game released and I should've shared these earlier, buuuuut better late than never, I guess! 🩷🩷🩷

As I mentioned here, I bought the game at the Spanish Nintendo Store and it included LOTS of merch that I wanna show you! 🤩

This is a general view of everything the package included: a bag, a notebook, a pin, a ser of stickers and the game itself of course!

The bag is so BEAUTIFUL!!! 🤩🤩🤩 I thought it only included some of the transformations, as it was shown for the first time before the last four were revealed, but it turns out it does include ALL of them! 😁😁😁 I just LOVE that the center section shows some of my favorites, like the Figure Skater, the Ninja, the Patissière, the Swordfighter, and of course the Cowgirl!!! 😍😍😍 But all of it is SO beautiful, I swear I could totally stare at it all day 🥹🥹🥹

The pin is SO adorable!!! 😍😍😍 I love it!!! And the notebook is absolutely PRECIOUS, not only externally... But also on the inside 🥹👇

How AWESOME is it that each page holds the illustration of two of the transformations??? 🥹🥹🥹 Man, I am SO HAPPY I got this notebook!!! I almost feel sad for using it as I don't wanna ruin it, but who am I kidding... I've already started using it 🤭 For a project I haven't told you about yet 🤭😏 (Hopefully soon! 🤞)

Also, I wasn't expecting the set of stickers AT ALL and I'm so in LOVE 😭😭😭 Look at them!!! They all look so CUTE!!! 😍😍😍

Also! A few weeks ago, I saw that the Spanish Nintendo Store had put on sale a set of folders based on this game, so OF COURSE I had to go and buy them too 😁😁😁

The Mermaid and the Thief and the Figure Skater AAAAAHHHH I'M SCREAMING 😭😭😭

They're also so BEAUTIFUL inside!!! 🥹🥹🥹

Yes, this is how they prepare the packages in the Spanish Nintendo Store 🥹🥹🥹 No matter what you purchase, Mario is always gonna be there to greet you with his hat ❤️❤️❤️ And... you may say I have a problem, but you bet I've kept every single Mario I've gotten since I started buying here 🤭🥹❤️

I was the only one at book club who liked Gideon the Ninth. So it goes.

GtN amusingly sets up and then mostly ignores the standard YA team configuration. There are eight houses, each with their own theming. They have standard colors, modes of dress, cultural emphases, and personality types. Each house specializes in a form of necromancy, and it is implied that the cavaliers' off-hand weapons vary similarly.

This lines up with Hogwarts houses, Divergent factions, etc. People love to sort themselves by color, Myers-Briggs type, zodiac sign, humor, etc. Presumably someone has already made a crosswalk that aligns two The Locked Tomb houses with each medieval humor or takes each of the 16 Myers-Briggs types and assigns them to the 8 necromancers and cavaliers, extrapolating each of those to the entire culture despite the problems of doing that with the ones who appear at Canaan House.

And then, Gideon being Gideon, this is a mostly ignored bit of world-building rather than a central theme of the story, despite the structure of the lyctor trials and the explicit inter-House competition going on. Most other books would use this as the scaffolding for the entire story, and in fact some of the characters are inclined in that direction. Gideon of course tries to learn as little as possible about how the different forms of necromancy work, nor does she want to learn about a House of poets, historians, etc. She pays more attention to cavaliers' off-hand weapons.

Some TV or movie executive must be salivating at the idea of having a The Locked Tomb series and already has designs drawn up for merchandise for each House. Online quiz to identify your House and social media icons! Buy the T-shirt, hat, wall poster, etc. for your House! A theme park land outline to sell to Disney, Universal, or Cedar Fair! Get the whole set of TLT Funko Pops!

A friend of mine got some Discworld jigsaw puzzles for Christmas and he recommended them to me knowing I'm a big Pratchett fan, and looking for something new to do I decided to get one. And wow. Not to sound like an ad, but the Discworld Emporium knows how to present their stuff.

The care just on the packaging was amazing. The Ankh-Morpork post office stamp, Vetinari's stamp next to it!
