#merlin: emrys won't mind

Consider: Arthur keeping his word about making peace with the Druids (*side-eyes BBC*) and the next time they come across one of those small shrines, he's a lil uncomfy still but is doing his best like, "what's this one for? Should we go around or...?" Because this one isn't as subtly creepy as the last one, there are no "def haunted" vibes, it's just a kind of rough cairn of stacked stone and branches, and it's got flowers all over it, candle stubs and incense sticks, little jars of honeycomb, sweetmeats, preserves, etc.
And it's Percival (hc he was raised in a Druid camp, even if he doesn't have magic) is like, "No, it's fine, this one is for Emrys."
Cue Arthur asking about Emrys, and Percival explaining he's supposedly the living son of the Triple Goddess, born to heal the wounds of the Old Religion (he's tactful enough to not mention who made those wounds *coughcough*kingcunt*cough*) and the offerings are made to show kindness and peace, and to aid him in his duty (sure enough, those flowers and herbs are all medicinal).
"Why's it so important to keep him happy?" It's Gwaine who asks, irreverent and curious.
And Percival tells them the story of the High Priestess Nimueh, who tried to turn her power against Emrys's through the magic of life and death. So Emrys created a great storm over the Isle of the Blessed and called down the wrath of rain and lightning to unmake her.
They're all so absorbed in storytelling that nobody notices Merlin sitting off to the side and sweating like a hooker talking to a beat cop.
-
Bonus points if Merlin sneaks over to take some of the offerings, against his better judgement bc he should not be encouraging this but he's got a killer sweet tooth and nobody in Camelot can make decent sweetmeats, apparently, and some of these herbs are pretty rare.
Double bonus if Percival or Elyan sees him do it and are like, "bro you gon be so cursed," and Merlin doesn't know how to explain that no he's not sacrilegious, these are for him, they're offerings, they were offered, and not entirely realising he's being paid the magical equivalent of ye olde protection racket.
*also side-eyes bbc* yeah...this would have been awesome to have...excuse me while i go sharpen my knives, completely unrelated to this ask i assure you

Arthur is stuck in a time loop.
At first, he doesn't really notice it, since every day feels the same anyway. It's Merlin's good morning that irks him, however, because Merlin tends to switch up the routine a lot. When then the topic of the court meeting is the same, Arthur knows what's up.
In loop three, he asks Gaius for help and the man explains that only a powerful sorcerer could do such a thing and that he'd need strong magic to break it.
The next morning, everything is forgotten. And Arthur researches on his own what's happening. He spends days at the library until one day, he's just really tired.
And so, he stays in bed for a couple days, and lets Merlin complain for hours. It's soozing in an odd way. As days go by, Arthur gets bolder. He approaches Merlin in broad sunlight, hands him food or flowers in front of people and receiving odd stares.
Arthur waits for Merlin's reactions and they seem rather hesitant if also positive. Yet, when Arthur finally gathers up the courage to confess, Merlin rejects him.
Arthur spends another few loops in bed, while Merlin no longer carries any memories of the incident. Arthur then asks Gaius dejectedly who the most powerful sorcerer is he knows.
And Gaius says Emrys and tells him the man lives in the woods, a two day march from Camelot. Arthur loses hope. One loop equals a day. He'd never make it. That is IF the man is even there.
On loop xy, Arthur asks Gaius again, during a different time of day, where Emrys lives. And Gaius answers: about half a day ride north, Sire.
Arthur is confused. That doesn't make sense. Why would Gaius say something different than last time? Gaius was clearly part of the loop! Unless he's lying. And each time he lied he just said the first thing that came to mind.
Arthur stops avoiding Merlin at one point and accepts that Merlin won't respond to his feelings. So, he approaches him and tries to discuss magic issues with him. While Merlin warns him of magic like read from a script, Arthur argues positive aspects. Because he's trying to talk himself into turning to magic to maybe manage to save himself if he trained himself in the arts. Even if it takes years of the timeloop.
Unprompted, Merlin hugs him tight and looks at him with so much affection that Arthur is sure Merlin likes him.
Needless to day, Arthur is more than confused. And Arthur notices another thing. Both Merlin and Gaius react differently to him, depending on how he talks. If he's positive about magic, they are eager to help. Merlin looks most carefree then. And almost like he wants to ... Well, what exactly?
One loop, Arthur tests the theorie: Merlin, I'm going to lift the magic ban.
Merlin stops in his tracks and stares at Arthur. Arthur repeats himself, nervous of the response. Almost more nervous than he was when he got rejected.
Arthur: merlin?
Merlin: why
Arthur: because magic isn't as evil as my father had me believe.
Merlin: is this a trick?
Arthur: a trick? No. I just understand now that sometimes magic is needed. And I need magic right now. *Explains situation*
Merlin: ... arthur, i don't know how many timeloops you've been through
Arthur: you believe me? Uhhhh... 200, probably
Merlin: ... I can help you
Arthur: how?
Merlin: because I'm emrys

The story of how Mordred called Merlin mom and then proceeded to call Arthur dad and now he's adopted into the family
Author: Me aka @dalazygamerneko
Inspired by @tongjaitongjai merthur idea, check out it out here: 🐓x🐦=🐣
♤•°•♡•°•♤•°•♡•°•♤•°•♡•°•♤•°•♡•°•♤
It was ordinary day. Birds were singing, training went well and the maids were busy but happily chatting.
Nothing could go wrong Mordred thought as he made his way to the afternoon roundtable meeting when he came across Merlin or Emrys as he is known amongst druids, quickly he hid into an alcove and gazed in envy at Lord Emrys, no, Merlin smiling and holding a little boy in his arms.
It's moments like these that he wished he knew his mother longer but he could barely remember her. He watched quietly at the soft look in Merlin's eyes and utter joy upon the little boy's face as they hugged each other, Mordred wondered if his mother would've looked at him the same way Merlin did.
He sighed, leaning back against the stone walls Mordred couldn't help but want to revert back into being a child again just so Merlin wouldn't gaze coldly at him, albeit he probably deserved it for the words of hatred he said in his youth. He knew now Merlin never meant to lead those knights towards his camp. That the warlock was only trying to help Morgana.
"What can I do to earn your trust?"
Mordred shook his head, he'd think of something maybe ask one of the knights for help? He's noticed that Sir Lancelot and Sir Gwaine are closer to Merlin than the other knights.
'They're also the most protective of him' Mordred thought dryly, a crease upon his brow as multiple ideas popped into his mind and many he shot down knowing it won't work.
"Well, I'll just have to hope the triple Goddess guides me." Mordred mumbled, he looked out into the hallway, Merlin was gone, most likely doing chores for the King.
Mordred chuckled as he continued walking, he would never understand the relationship Emrys and the once and future King had with each other. There were times they seem like close comrades begrudging in their respect for one another and then other times they would argue fondly like any old married couple.
Not surprising when plenty of townsfolk as well as even the nobles have speculated in the past if Merlin was being courted by Prince Arthur, to any outsider it certainly looked that way therefore Merlin was given the "mistress" treatment.
Now everyone are wondering(more like waiting impatiently) when will the King announce his engagement to Merlin.
"If I remember correctly, doesn't Sir Gwaine have a bet going on?"
Mordred pondered. 'Yeah, I'll definitely join in. There's no way they're NOT together. I mean, I've seen the lingering stares they give each other as if there is no one around them.'
Soon he was at the doors leading to the roundtable meeting, nodding at the vigilant guards they let him through. His eyes slowly moved over the knights, nobles and some commoners before landing on Merlin who was standing behind the King's chair.
An unassuming figure, most often underestimated but to those who know magic deeply or follow the old religion, Emrys entire being is a vast ocean of wild magic swirling in such a magnitude that no mere mortal could ever understand or harness the power Emrys wields.
Then he locked eyes with Merlin, there is no icy stare thankfully, yet he can still see a hint of wariness in his Lord's gaze.
He bowed his head in acknowledgement before finding a seat next to the gossiping pair Sir Percival and Sir Gwaine.
"I could be at a tavern right now, drinking and charming the barmaid Stella instead I'm stuck here." Gwaine said with a miffed face, his hand gripping the air imagining he was holding a mug of ale.
Elyan who sat across from Gwaine raised an eyebrow, "Isn't Stella old enough to be your grandmother?"
Gwaine smirked whilst shrugging. "Just like wine the older one gets the finer they become, besides she has experience, I'm sure there's a thing or two she could still teach mmph—"
Leon had reached over to clamp Gwaine's mouth shut.
The ginger haired knight had just about enough of hearing Gwaine's tavern tales of debauchery to which he thought was an inappropriate topic to be discussed or heard at the roundtable meeting.
"Sir Gwaine, leave your nightly talks at the tavern only, please."
Gwaine pulled Leon's hand away and smiled cheekily at the older knight.
"Oh, but wouldn't you like to know? Stella has mentioned she likes ginger haired men with beards and I bet she could show you—"
"I am going to strangle you—"
Gwaine leaned back avoiding Leon's hands from trying to keep him quiet again.
"Sir Leon I never knew you were this kinky, I think dear old Stella would like to feel your big strong hands—ack!"
Leon finally got him, unfortunately the meeting was starting, so Gwaine was safe from being throttled by him. However, tomorrow morning during training he'll get his chance.
Mordred along with the rest of the knights chuckled at Sir Gwaine's antics and Sir Leon's annoyed expression.

Rarepair fave is def Merdred, those mfs had Vibes™ that were just.... Something else. Like, they needed to be locked in a room so they could either talk it out, fight it out, or fuck it out. Something. Anything. Because I really think if not for that goddamn prophecy, Merlin would like Mordred! A lot! Another sorcerer that's actually on his side, actively helping him! Tbh, I think he liked him in canon, even though he didn't want to, which just adds to the Angst of them.
Fave scenes of them are in "With All My Heart" when Mordred says he hopes he and Merlin can be friends and you can just see Merlin internally screaming at a volume to break glass, and in "The Drawing of the Dark" when Mordred asks why Merlin always thinks the worst of him, and again, you can see that moment of Merlin just being weighted by what he knows and being unable to say it.
And for a fic rec: https://archiveofourown.org/works/25627360 (it is smut, but there are also feels, and it's Mordred POV)
FINALLY! THANK YOU!
I really think if not for that goddamn prophecy, Merlin would like Mordred! A lot!
He did like him! He said it himself!
GAIUS: If Mordred wished Arthur ill, he has had ample opportunity to do so. He's a likeable boy, Merlin. MERLIN: I know. I like him myself, but I can't ignore what I saw. — From The Disir, Ep 5x05
That's what makes it tragic, they could get on, they could be friends, they actually have much in common — but Merlin can't afford to get close to Mordred because of what he knows/thinks Mordred's going to do.
Here's my thoughts about this ship:
Arguments in favour:
• ENEMIES TO LOVERS
• the delicate balance of power: Alex and Colin go on quite a bit about Mordred and Merlin's relationship in the commentary to ep 5x02. Mordred technically outranks Merlin, given he's a knight and Merlin is just a servant, but also Merlin is Emrys and, as a Druid, Mordred is aware (and likely in awe) of his role and power. And they are both the unwilling keeper of the other's secret, as they both have to hide their magic in Camelot. It makes for an interesting dynamic.
• Like I said, it's tragic that Merlin had to keep Mordred at arm's length (emotionally) because they had some common ground: they both loved Arthur — I mean they both cared about him, and they both had faith in him. Mordred believed that Arthur would bring about a golden age just as much as Merlin did! They both yearned for peace, and they both had to stain their hands with blood to survive. They both had to go through so much trauma.
KARA: You're a knight. MORDRED: That doesn't matter. KARA: Of Camelot. Why, Mordred? MORDRED: Arthur is a good man. KARA: I can't believe you'd say that. MORDRED: You don't know him. — From The Drawing of the Dark, Ep 5x11
• As with Sefa, I think Merlin could benefit from having a Druid partner.
• Merlin glaring at Mordred is pretty hot. He also gets slammed into a wall by him which, again. Pretty hot.
• They could literally mind-fuck each oth— [gunshot sound]
Fave scenes of them are in "With All My Heart" when Mordred says he hopes he and Merlin can be friends and you can just see Merlin internally screaming at a volume to break glass, and in "The Drawing of the Dark" when Mordred asks why Merlin always thinks the worst of him, and again, you can see that moment of Merlin just being weighted by what he knows and being unable to say it.
Both great scenes! I love all the scenes they have together, I think. The way Mordred always looks and sounds vaguely menacing without doing or saying anything outright evil. They way he is desperate for Merlin's approval :(
My favourite Merlin & Mordred scene has to be the one from episode 5x05 (The Disir).
Tumblr media
MERLIN: It won't always be like this. One day we will live in freedom again. MORDRED: You really believe that? MERLIN: I do. Beat. They both look down at the grave. MORDRED: Until then, we go unmarked in death as in life. — From The Disir, Ep 5x05
It's a rare moment of bonding between them. Mordred appeals to their shared nature ("he was one of us") and, for once, Merlin puts down his defences. He offers Mordred a few words of comfort ("It won't always be like this"). And then Mordred hits him with that fucking PROFOUND line and Merlin doesn't know what to do with it.
Tumblr media
This is not the horrible future-murderer he's made Mordred up to be in his head. This is a boy with hope in his eyes and kindness in his heart (still). It speaks so much of what they could have been if destiny hadn't got in the way. (I've also gone on about Merlin's complicated relationship with other magic folks in another post. Yes, I have many feelings about it).
I love that scene from ep 5x11, too, ("Everything I do, you think the worst") — probably my second favourite scene with these two.
It starts out with Merlin being so confrontational and aggressive, but it ends with Merlin deciding to trust Mordred, for once. Perhaps reluctantly, but he does.
It's tragic that he seems to open up to Mordred when it's too late. I've touched on before on why I think it is that it happens at this moment. Merlin has literally been in Mordred's position. In fact, some of the dialogue in this scene echoes Merlin and Gaius's confrontation in ep 2x09, when Merlin was ready to run away with Freya.
If that wasn't clear enough, we also have Mordred asking Merlin directly:
Tell me you wouldn't do the same for the woman you love.
But of course Merlin would. He has. Well, he's tried to.
But again, because of what he knows about Mordred, Merlin can't let Mordred escape, even though he gets what he's trying to do, and doesn't blame him for trying.
I also like when Mordred angrily confronts Merlin later in the same episode. His outburst shows how he is well aware of how unfairly Merlin has been treating him, and although he's been remarkably chill about it up until now, it doesn't mean he's not angry and resentful about it. He may not show his emotions much, but he's not unfeeling.
"You did it because you hate me", he says, and "This time you've gone too far!"
THIS IS A MAN WHO'S HAD ENOUGH. It's also a reminder of how much Mordred has been putting up with — for all he knows, Merlin hates him for no good reason. I think it says something about Mordred's nature that he only truly snaps when Merlin's meddling threatens the person he loves. MY STABBY CHILD IS FULL OF LOVE OKAY
I just think they have such an interesting dynamic!
I can see why they wouldn't be a super popular pairing, given Merlin's attitude to Mordred in the show and what Mordred ends up doing. And also the age gap, I guess (I personally don't find it too weird because the actors are so clearly close in age that it can be easily brushed off, but I can see why other people might find it off-putting).
Fanfics
THANK YOU for the fic rec anon, I've skim-read it and it looks very much up my alley ♡
I actually haven't gone looking for many Merlin/Mordred fics. I've a read a few ages ago, most of them just short ficlets, but I only have one bookmarked. It's the fic that put Merlin/Mordred on my radar:
Set in Stone by EachPeachPearPlum (on AO3).
It's a relatively long fic (almost 50k words), so there is space to explore Merlin and Mordred's relationship.
I actually read it before watching the show properly (I basically watched a bunch on scenes from the show and dipped my toes in fanfiction before deciding to watch all of the series).
I haven't re-read it since, and I don't even remember how it ultimately deals with the whole prophecy thing, if it even gets to that point (I think the author meant for this to be part of a series but they didn't continue, although this story is complete). But the prophecy was addressed, with what I thought was an interesting twist.
(I won't say anything too spoiler-y in case anyone wants to check it out, but Mordred is actually aware of the prophecy and he even knows an extra bit about Merlin which Merlin himself doesn't know about. It's revealed pretty early in the story, so it's not really a spoiler).
It touches on some aspects of Merlin and Mordred's relationship that I find fascinating, so I think it's worth a read if you're interested in this pair.
Random lil' excerpt:
"I am not a child, Emrys," Mordred hisses, leaning in close; Merlin suspects he's going for menacing, but all it really comes off as is petulant, which sort of proves his point. "I was the last time you tried to kill me, but not now." And then there are words in Merlin's head, words he is powerless to stop, filled with a rage that is everything and nothing all at once. Keep your reasons to yourself, Emrys, but do not try to placate me with what we both know are lies. Mordred stands then, the expression on his face one of youthful rage, burning bright and burning quickly, and Merlin wishes he was right. If Mordred wasn't so young, Merlin could kill him without hesitation, could dream about him without hating himself (or without hating himself quite so much, since the fact that Mordred is destined to destroy everything Merlin is destined to protect is at least as much of a concern as Mordred's age). This could all be over and done with, one way or another. "Get out of here, Mordred," Merlin snarls. "You live because I let you, and you live for as long as I let you. Do not tempt me."
I JUST THINK IT'S HOT WHEN HE THREATENS TO MURDER PEOPLE OKAY
I'm just going to bring this post back to your attention. There are dozens of us! (people who find mean Merlin sexy). DOZENS
As a final note — my Italian brain refuses to call this ship Merdred. There's got to be a better name for it 😭

Merlin Spotify Playlist
I've had a Merlin Spotify Playlist for a while, so I figured I would post some of the songs and their explanations here! There are currently 124 songs, so I won't be doing all of them unless someone requests some more. Hope you enjoy!
I'll Never Forget The Time I Spent With You - The Lathums
A lot comes to mind with this song. Of course, the finale is the most obvious one in terms of the lyrics of this song, but I imagine Merlin feels this a lot. With all the friends he has lost along the way and all the ones he outlived, Merlin likely spends a lot of time lost in the memories he has of those he couldn't save. But there is one line here that reminds me of the theories around The Once and Future King, with Arthur recognising Merlin's eyes and saying a variation of "Do I know you?" every time he meets Merlin or one of his aliases. "I won't forget the time I spent with you. Before we'd even met, I've spent a lifetime with you."
Burn the Witch - Shawn James
This song reminds me a lot of Morgana, for obvious reasons. But it also reflects what some of the magic-users during Uther's reign would have felt as they were tied to the stake. Despite the burning being a horrifically negative thing, there is something profound that must be respected in the way that the artist sings of not giving them the satisfaction of hearing him scream as the fire is lit.
Battlefield - SVRCINA
This song reflects both Merlin and the Knights. Arthur spends a great deal of time in the series fighting in battles and later on planning and leading them. As the Crown Prince and a respected Knight, Arthur has a great deal of pressure on his shoulder, especially with Uther as his father. Like when Arthur half-heartedly expressed the wish to go off and be a farmer leading a simple life, Arthur wants to get rid of the pressure and responsibility sometimes. But since he could never give up Camelot because of his love for the kingdom and its people, he continues on despite the pain. As for Merlin, though he is not a Knight and the majority of the characters would not recognise him as a warrior, spends a lot of time with life and death in his hands, forced to play a godlike role in his responsibility as Emrys.
Iris - The Goo Goo Dolls
This is the second song on my playlist. It's on a lot of my other playlists since my parents listened to it, and the lyrics fit Merlin perfectly. We all love some Merlin angst, and the lyrics of this song can be interpreted many different ways.
And I'd give up forever to touch you 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be And I don't want to go home right now
This makes me think of Arthur in Avalon, and Merlin's immortality. Arthur is the closest Merlin will ever get to heaven, and I imagine in the present day he longs for the 'horseplay' and causal affection Arthur gave him.
And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am
The chorus is just so Merlin. He tells Gaius he thinks he is a monster, and he is terrified of his friends finding out he has magic and condemning him for it.
Liar - The Arcadian Wild
I sense there’s trouble ahead. It’s clear by the signs and warnings that should tell where all blame is due. So why are they pointing at my head?
There are a lot of plotlines that involve Merlin being under suspicion for things he didn't do, the most obvious one I can think of being when Gwen in the later seasons accused Merlin of poisoning Arthur. Merlin was arrested and all of his friends, the people he guarded with his life, believed he had tried to kill the one he loved.
‘Cause I’m not in a right state of mind. I just wish I had strength to admit it. My stubbornness will put up a fight, but I don’t deserve to win it. I’m left in the dark pondering my mistakes, but in the light I swear I will deny it all.
Merlin pushes himself to do better all of the time, and especially in the later seasons he tears himself apart mentally, on top of the trauma he has lived through.

The Fairyland
Ao3 link here The Fairyland - Chapter 8 - Princessmh9 - Multifandom [Archive of Our Own]
Chapter 8: Hunt for Excalibur
Meanwhile, in the dark forests and moorlands of the western realm, a magnificent and imposing castle emerges from the depths. The atmosphere here is filled with an eerie darkness. In the reading room of the castle, a group of Fae and Folk anxiously await the return of the wolves. Queen Mab, one of the Fae, gazes out of the high windows, her wings fluttering nervously. Her daughter, Princess Dela, amuses herself by shooting fire sparks at a raven. King Arawn, her father, stares into the fire while Prince Valory, Dela's brother, polishes his dagger.
Mab: And are you absolutely certain she had the necklace, my dear?
Dela (annoyed): Yes, Mother. I already told you she not only had the necklace but also resembled Merlin himself. She is of Merlin's bloodline.
At that moment, the door swings open, and a tall Elf enters—the leader of the Wild Hunt, Eerden, followed by the wolves.
Eerden: Your Majesties. (He bows to Queen Mab)
Mab: Well? Is what my daughter says true? Is Merlin's kin here in our realm?
Arawn (with bated breath): Tell us, Eerden.
Eerden: I'm afraid so, Your Majesty. Emry's great-granddaughter is here in the Fairy realm. She is traveling north with Prince Adonis, son of King Linder and Queen Albina, towards the kingdom of Enchantra ruled by King Oberon and Queen Titiana.
Arawn (furious, slamming his fist on the table): We cannot allow the prophecy to come true. Merlin has had it coming.
Mab (pondering): And where is Excalibur?
Eerden: The Seelie Merfolk still possess it, Your Majesty.
Dela: But she is human! There's no way she can retrieve it.
Valory: Ah, but you forget, dear sister. She is not entirely human but a being of the Folk. She possesses magic, which gives her the means to reach Excalibur. Besides, what's to stop the
Seelie Court from aiding her?
Arawn: Valory is right. Once she obtains Excalibur, it will be all over for us.
Mab: Not necessarily, my love. Not if we acquire it first.
Dela and Valory (together): What do you have in mind?
Mab: Eerden, take my children and the amateur hunters and courtiers on a raid. Send them to the Seelie Merfolk Kingdoms and retrieve Excalibur. We must obtain it before they do.
Eerden (bowing): Yes, Your Majesty.
Dela (delighted): Finally, I can have some fun and prove that I am a better hunter than you, brother.
Valory: Not a chance, dear sister. I am the best there ever was.
Dela and Valory engage in an argument, but Arawn interrupts them.
Arawn: Enough, both of you. You are both skilled hunters, and you can prove it when you reach the Kingdoms. Keep your quarrels in check until then, my dear children. Now go, and do not disappoint your mother or me. There will be severe consequences if you fail.
Dela and Valory (standing next to each other, nodding): Yes, Father. We won't let you down. They leave the room, still arguing in hushed whispers. Eerden follows them with the wolves at his side. Mab joins her husband, slipping into his embrace as he lovingly smiles at her.
Mab: You know how to handle those two so well Arawn: My wickedly wonderful Queen, I've had plenty of practice dealing with their spirited nature. We must ensure they stay focused on the task at hand and set aside their rivalry. The success of our mission depends on it.
Mab: Indeed, my love. They are strong-willed, but they possess the skills needed for this undertaking. And with Eerden leading them, I have confidence in their abilities.
As they share a kiss, rain begins to fall, and thunder and lightning illuminate the sky.
Arawn: The elements seem to mirror the intensity of our situation. But together, we shall navigate these treacherous waters and safeguard our realm from Merlin's kin.
Mab: Our love and cunning shall guide us, my King. We shall retrieve Excalibur and ensure that the prophecy takes a different turn—one that favors us and our subjects.
They embrace tightly, united in their determination to secure the legendary sword before their adversaries.

Loaded March - no we're not done, not by far. Hang in there.
Part 6 - Intermission
Somewhere deep, deep down, Morgana did have a heart. She didn't like to show it, and she would deny it to her dying day, but Arthur was planning on keeping this letter as proof that she really was a soft touch.
MY QUEEN. Morgana is bae. Don't trash talk Gana. She's amazing. She's not evil.
I find that writing Morgana flows easily, writing Merlin is a bit harder but a lot of fun, but writing Arthur has me stumped. So, extra-extra-extra kudos to Footloose because her Arthur's voice is just amazing.
------
"You were never like this for me," Gwaine blurted out, wincing at his own petulant tone, but it made Arthur draw back, and ease some of the frown from his face.
I'm just saying, Gwaine is a sweetheart and he deserves someone (*coughs* Perceval *coughs*) to take care of him. And again, really love the dybamic between Gwaine and Arthur.
------
Gwaine knew that Perceval was right, but he couldn't help the bitter, perverse feeling that overcame him. "Yeah, but how much time before one or the other gets tired of waiting?"
Hello, stop being blind and realize that Perce is waiting on you, please. I'm going to get frustrated about the Perwaine now that the Merthur is a done deal.
------
"I know you're going to remember this in the morning, Gwaine," Perceval breathed in his ear, his voice hoarse. "So I'm only going to say it once. Clean yourself up. Give someone else a chance. Then maybe, maybe, you won't have to be alone, all right?"
I haven't commented on Perceval yet, but man do I like him. He's steadfast and quiet and reliable, and he has a dry humor I really appreciate.
Also, in my memories, the Perwaine wasn't as fast as that... I mean, Gwaine still has to work for it, but the way I remembered it, Percy acted much more later than at that moment. Welp. It's been a while since my last reading.
------
But Kay? Kay had his smile.
His smile was ice that never reached his eyes. Owain told him once that he smiled in combat, and that it was fucking scary and to please not smile when they were sitting down having a beer, because no one knew if Kay were going to snap at any minute and jump across the table to give someone a beating.
THAT'S MY BOY! Kay's POV, finally! At the risk of repeating myself : I love Kay.
------
There were times that Kilgarrah watched the two of them walk down the street together, each of them silent or in fervent discussion or even sharing a laugh, and he felt as if he should march out toward the two and smash their heads together until they saw sense.
Sometimes Kilgarrah is a cryptic bastard. And sometimes he's the number one Merthur shipper. Dragons, amiright.
------
If he hadn't known, this unusual, frightening ease was further evidence that Merlin Emrys was a Dragonlord.
TIN-TIN-TIIIIIIIN
When Kilgarrah's pov is the one that gives you some answers, you gotta ask yourself how complicated the situation is.
------
He knew who to assign based on the rudimentary sketch of each mission. Lance, Geraint, Galahad, Bohrs on the first. Perceval, Lamorak, Gareth, Pellinor on the second. Leon, Owain, Bedivere and Lucan on the third.
Aaand we finally have all the names of the team! No, because, up until now, we only had the names of 11 out of 16 men. Were missing : Lamorak, Bedivere, Lucan, Gareth and Pellinor. Now I can go on with one less thing on my mind.
------
Merlin folded the note and put it away, shaking his head, trying to figure out what the bloody hell Everything will happen as it should was supposed to mean.
Ah, yes, here's the cryptic cipher of the Dragon.
The mission in Kandahar is the fun one! We're finally getting rid of Gilli, we have more of Kay, and there's delicious Merthur content.
------
This is getting long, let's stop here and pick up the second half of part 6 in another post.

"Y-Yeah, that's the right vial," Lisette answered, carefully removing the neckerchief and turning to her side. She sighed softly as the magic serum healed her wound, and the ringing stopped. She sat up, the last wave of dizziness finally leaving her. "Thank you." she smiled warmly at Emrys. Finally, she is going to save her family, and she won't be alone. "Did I, um...did I say anything weird, before I passed out? I don't actually remember," she blushed as she brushed the grass off her dress.
Merlin reflexively moved back a bit on his knees to give Lisette a little more space, and reached to hand the bottle back to her. In the silence, he rolled her question around and around in his mind, but if there was a right answer, he didn’t know it.
Even though he knew, beyond the barest shadow of a doubt, that the “Freya” Lisette had tried to call wasn’t his Freya, couldn’t be his Freya, his heart still twisted sharply in on itself to even hear her name again.
“No,” Merlin said, quietly, “no, nothing.”

Hi! I want to share a merthur prompt that's been on me mind for a long time, but cannot write cause english is not my first language and I'm afraid to make mistakes. I would love for you to write it, but if you only share the prompt for someone else to do it, it's fine too.
You know how in the arthurian mithology Arthur wasn't raise as a prince to begin with but was discover later? Not only that, but Utter was the one who order Merlin to hide him, so he took him and made other family raise him.
Well, inspired on this I though what if our BBC Merlin did this? I imagine inmortal Merlin after the events of camlam, mad with grieve, tired of waiting for Arthur and cursing destiny and fate, would come to the conclusion that it was the prophesy he tried to fulfill that ended up killing and condeming Arthur. So, as soon as he learns how to, he travels back in time just when Arthur is about to be born. He kidnaps baby Arthur and gives him to a nice couple in Ealdor who he knows can't have children and will raise him well. He doesn't care about destiny anymore, he just wants Arthur to be happy and safe.
Obviously this has consecuences: Utter's hate towards magic becomes worse because he did not only lose his wife to a sorcerer but his son and heir as well. Search parties look for the lost prince for years without success and Utter is force to acknowledge Morgana as his daughter since he refuses to marry again, let alone have another heir. He won't stop looking for his son though no matter how much his council pleads him to.
Meanwhile, little Arthur meets little Merlin and become inseparable friends. Merlin from the future smiles, watching them from afar. He's been looking after Arthur all this time, making sure he won't be found and that he's safe. Suddenly he notices his body is starting to be less solid and realise that sooner or later he's going to disappear because there can be two Merlins coexisting in the same time. Not wanting to leave Arthur unprotected, he decides to orquest secret encounters with his younger self in the woods disguise as Dragoon/Emrys to start giving him magic leasons so he can control his magic better, ergo protect Arthur when he is not around. However, Arthur follows Merlin one day to see where he always goes of to and he discovers his best friend has magic. He takes it well though and even asks "Emrys" to teach him too. "Emrys" says something along the lines "You don't have magic I can work with but you defenitely have strength and courage. I can teach you to be a Knight" and he does. From then on he gives them not only magic and knight leasons, but education in general.
The day "Emrys" knows he is going to die/disappear he meets with Merlin, who is a teen by then, privatly one last time. With all the power he has left he transfers all his memories to Merlin. Overwhelm but over all angry teen Merlin shouts at adult Merlin, who is not in disguise anymore, "How dare you! You had no right to take that away from him! His right to the throne! He could've have better life, he could...". Adult Merlin argues back "Being prince is what made him miserable and got him killed in the first place!". They fight a little more, but in the end Adult Merlin says "Look, if you think is best to bring Arthur back to Camelot and reveal he is the lost prince is your choice. I already gave you all the information you need to be beware of the dangers and consecuences. Don't let any prophesy lead your choices and protect him" and he banishes soon after. Teen Merlin is left without knowing what to do.
He doesn't have to do anything though. Essetier kingdom falls, maybe do to war or a plague, i don't know, and Merlin, Arthur and their parents are force to flee to Camelot. They arrive at the Citidel and... that's all I got 😅 Sorry. I suppose at some point Arthur is discover and chaos ensues, but I don't know how it would happen.
OP, I just want to say.... i already know you're underestimating yourself. This summary looks awesome. I love the idea. And I have no doubt that you can flesh this out.
I'm not going to write it, because you can make this a 300 k story and people will absolutely read it and they will love it. I know this, because I absolutely would. Don't worry about your English, it's more than fine. (There are some spelling mistakes, but that's to do with typing, not actual problems with grammar.)
Look, I'm not an English native myself. I'm German and I started off with stories that made little sense in consistency. I was 12 when my first comment (my brother) told me it sucked. And he was right but that didn't stop me. The level on writing I see in this little summary is what I would have aspired my writing to become at the time. You have nothing to be insecure about.
Don't be afraid to write your own story. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Trust me on this. You will do better than you think. And if you want, you can always message me if you need any help. I would love to read your version of the whole story.
Seriously, I mean it. You've given me enough text to see it. It would be a great gift to the fandom if you tried. :)
