karl sighed as he realized that he was getting nowhere in editing his video. he had been trying to work on it all day, but his mind kept coming up blank when he tried. he knew it had been forever since he had posted a video, and people were waiting. he hoped his fans weren’t angry with him, he had just been in a rut lately and couldn’t really figure out how to produce content. he hadn’t moved from his seat in hours, telling himself that when he got this video done he could go get something to eat and drink. the boy knew this wasn’t healthy, but it was the only way he was going to get it done.

the sound of alex’s footsteps snapped karl out of his thoughts. he hoped that the younger wouldn’t be mad when he saw him still working. “hey, will you help me with the...what are you doing?” karl looked down bashfully and mumbled, “ ‘m working.” even though he was older, he still felt smaller under alex’s eyes. “weren’t you working when i left this morning? have you even eaten yet?” alex knew he sounded a little harsh, but he always worried about karl, and he knew if he didn’t check on him, he wouldn’t take care of himself, and karl’s head shake solidified his thoughts. “come on, kid, we’re eating right now.” karl immediately whined, he needed to finish this! but the way alex held his hand out was so appealing, and he really wanted chicken nuggets right now. with a pout, he took the other’s hand, and was led to the kitchen table. “can we have chicken nuggets?” karl’s voice sounded so small, even if he wasn’t, and alex knew what he had to do. ``of course we can have chicken nuggets! can you sit down while i make them?” karl’s soft nod warmed alex’s heart, knowing he was about two steps away from getting him to regress.

“alright, precioso, what do you want to do now?” alex wanted karl’s opinion, but was ready to supply an idea on the likely chance that he didn’t know. with the younger’s shrug, alex smiled and said, “do you wanna build with your big blocks?” karl’s eyes lit up and he enthusiastically nodded. he loved his big blocks! he’s gonna build such a big tower for him and quacky to live in! he clung to alex’s hand using both of his hands. it made him feel small and dependent on alex. karl never had someone that he could trust with his regression until he had met him. now he could be as vulnerable as he wanted and needed to be, because he knew there was someone to love and care for him. “quacky, i make house, kay? for us,” karl murmured into alex’s arm, still feeling extremely small. “okay kitty, go ahead!” the older said, sitting on the couch, watching karl build peacefully. he was glad that the boy could be this carefree, after working so hard.

after what seemed to be both a minute and an hour, “quacky, look,” karl placed his head on alex’s lap, looking up at him with wide eyes. “i’m looking, baby, your tower is so good! i’m very proud of you.” karl then giggled and thanked him sweetly. “quacky,” he says, pulling on his shirt and crawling onto alex’s lap. “sleepy.” alex curled himself to cradle the boy, and pulled him against his chest, “that means it’s someone’s nini time, huh?” karl’s slight nod in agreement made him laugh slightly. his gatito was so cute, he just couldn’t help the feeling he got from looking at him. “karl, eres el amor de mi vida. eres un precioso hermoso, mi amor, mi corazon, mi niño bonito, mi dulce princeso. te quiero agarrar a besos nomas pa oir tus risas tan lindas, mi rey.” karl didn’t know what any of that meant, but it sounded nice, so he mumbled to the older, “love you too, quacky,” and his heart absolutely melted. he spent so much time thinking sweet thoughts about his kitty that he didn’t even notice the boy drifting to sleep feeling comforted and loved.
