Wolfe Tone's lasting fame is so funny to me actually because for most of the time he was alive he was literally just some guy. he didn't start the United Irishmen (that was Samuel Neilson & Henry Joy McCracken), he wasn't a martyr that radicalised thousands of people to take up arms in '98 (that was William Orr), he wasn't the fellow riding around all over the place organising people (that was Thomas Russell), he wasn't elevated to the status of a folk hero while still living (that was Lord Edward Fitzgerald), he didn't carry out the vast majority of the negotiations with the French (that was Arthur O'Connor), and his death didn't end the United Irishmen for good (that was Robert Emmet). he just died SO DRAMATICALLY and was SUCH a great writer that everyone from my primary school history teacher to Michael fucking Collins himself went oh ya this was THE 18th century Irish guy. Wings of Shadow-A Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness Fanfic

I...should've made this post sooner, but things happen.

(AKA I forget)

This is my first full length fic based on the game Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness for the GameCube. Basically, the result of a plot bunny that just...showed up one night and refused to leave unless I got into fic writing. Long story short, it spiraled out of control into a now 41 chapter (soon to be 42 hopefully) work that is on the cusp of being finished.

The basic idea is simple. It explores the relationship between XD protagonist Michael and his latest Shadow Pokémon capture. AKA this guy:

Shadow Lugia, or XD-001. The one Shadow Pokémon said to be resistant to purification. The fic is basically Michael's quest to find a way to purify Lugia while the two bond and begin forming a bit of a connection with each other. Along the way, they need to deal with both Interpol who aren't keen about a 14-year-old having the world's strongest Shadow Pokémon, and Cipher who had not surrendered and are making one last effort to retake control of Orre and take Shadow Lugia back.

Cue a tale of friendship, morality, intrigue, the limits of one's mind, why teens shouldn't fight terrorists, humanity, and empathy. Essentially an unofficial third entry into the Orre series that wraps up lingering plot threads, gives Shadow Lugia a lot more development, and brings back...old friends we should say.

It also features tie-ins with the anime, specifically Pokémon 2000.
