Im 7 minutes into Volpina but Ive alredy watched the first three seasons so I know about Lila and I know about all the bullshit drama theyre gonna use her for so I just need to get this off my chest as quickly as possible:

The Writers Of Miraculous Ladybug Have No Idea How To Write The Social Dynamics Of Young Teen Girls

Let me tell you a little story of my time in elementary school as a preteen girl. There was this girl, Im calling her C, who was a lot like Lila in the sense that she lied a lot but people still hung out with her and seemed to really like her despite that. Now, unlike how it is with Lila, literally everyone immediately saw through her lies because children arent as stupid as some might believe. Me and my other friends would regularly get together, without C ofc, to shit-talk about her, specifically for being a liar and make fun of her and just generally hate on her behind her back. And yet, whenever she was around they were always going up to her willingly because despite that, they genuinely liked hanging out with her. Why is that? Honestly, I couldnt tell you since I didnt like her that much and had a hard time pretending I liked people when I didnt, so unless my friends or classmates inadvertantly pressured me into being around her, I just kinda avoided her, so I never got to see what she was like under four eyes or even in groups consisting of less than 5 people either.

So yeah, young girls tend to see through another young girls' outrageous lies but are unlikely to call them out as such for a variety of complex reasons, Im sure its different for every girl. Marinette's conflict with Lila shouldnt have been "she has the ability to magically drastically decease everyones intelligence so they believe her obvious lies and Im the only one immune to it but now everyone thinks Im just a jealous bitch even though Im the only one in the right T-T", it shouldve been more like, everyone knew that she was a liar and didnt care too much because shes charismatic and fun to be around and her lies are pretty inconsequential anyway, even by middleschool standards, but Marinette (as Ladybug) starts to figure out how genuinely awful and potentially dangerous she is and is struggling to get her friends away from her because Marinette (as Marinette) cant present them with any reason to stop hanging out with her beyond "she lies a lot", which her classmates dont care enough about to do anything more than just like, avoid her

Talking with Thomas - Reverser Part 2

The boyfriends walked into Astruc’s office, looking very unamused. The creator just smiled at them, unaware of their frustration with him. “Ah, Nash and Mork.” he greeted, “Excited for the new episode?” The boys just rolled their eyes.

“Wow, Nath. You were right. He is terrible with names.” Marc said. “Yeah, unless they’re the main characters.” Nathaniel added. Thomas decided to try and put some smiles on their faces. “So, pretty good script, huh?” he prodded. “Actually, sir,” Marc replied. “There were uh... some things we wanted to talk about. Some problems.”

“A lot of problems, actually.” Nathaniel said, looking straight at Thomas. Marc didn’t even let him argue before beginning his critiques. “First of all, why does it feel like you just copied Nath’s akuma plot for me, just tweaking a few things to make it fit better?“ Marc asked. “W-well...” Thomas replied, nervously taking a sip from his mug. “W-well, it's to show how similar you two are. How you're the perfect fit for eachother!” Thomas answered, his voice shaking with uncertainty.

“Oh, but not perfect enough for us to get together? Despite the extreme amounts of gay subtext in the episode?” Nath countered, his eyebrow raised in doubt. Thomas gulped. “Ah, w-well, you know how certain... people can be about things like that.” he tried to explain. “Who gives a fuck about that?! I just want our characters to date like we do in real life!” Marc shouted, already tired of the man’s bullshit. “Are you honestly so scared of countries like China and Russia.” Nathaniel asked, looking disgusted.

Thomas just huffed and crossed his arms in response. “Well, sorry that that wasn’t enough for you kids. It was the best we could do for this episode! We really put everything we could into making this script a classic for every aspect.” Thomas complained. “Really?” Nathaniel exclaimed. “Because you sure didn’t seem to put much effort into Marc’s akuma!”

“Yes! I’m a writer!” Marc agreed. “That's the whole idea of my character! Nath got a form that reflected his artistic skills, why didn't I get the same thing?“ Thomas scoffed again. “Well, a writing akuma seemed too obvious, too boring. But we compromised with the paper airplanes!” Marc could only stare at the man like he had grown a second head.

“Too boring?! TOO BORING?! How is someone with the ability to alter reality with merely a pen, boring?! The possibilites are endless!” he shouted, as Nathaniel calmed him down with a pat on his shoulder. “But that's the least of our concerns.” Nathaniel reminded. “Next, let's talk about how my character's been assasinated before it even got a chance to shine.“ At this statement, Thomas looked confused. “Oh please, what are you talking about, Nagatha?”

“It. is. Nathaniel. And what the hell was that fountain scene? Why did I assume it was Ladybug? Why did I get angry at Marc when he clearly didn’t know that was the assumption made? And SERIOUSLY, ripping his journal? Since when was I such a dick?!“ he growled.

“Well, your crush for Ladybug clouded your mind, and the pain of thinking you were the butt of another cruel joke caused you to act irrationally.” Thomas explained, unaware why the boy was getting upset for no reason in his eyes. “Well you sure didn't have me explain why! All I said was that I "jumped the gun". JUMPED THE GUN! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!” Nathaniel yelled, his eyes wide with confused anger. “I straight up berated the boy, destroyed his property, and stormed off. I didn't even do anything to Marinette, the one who ACTUALLY messed up!”

“Well…Marinette was only trying to help! And she had to be Ladybug, so there wasn’t really time for you to have confronted her!” Thomas reminded. “Was she helping me when she read my journal without permission?” Marc replied, feeling like he could deck the man at any point. “Oh, come on, Morty! She’s your friend and she thought it was great, so what does it matter? Why wouldn’t you want to share it anyway?” Thomas said, even chuckling at the idea that this was worth getting mad about. Marc and Nathaniel were so stunned they didn’t even bother correcting the man about getting the writer’s name wrong.

“I... did he just say that he doesn't understand why I wouldn't want to share my private journal?” Marc said, barely able to comprehend what he had just heard. “Nath, tell me I'm not hallucinating.” Nath shook his head and felt another wave of disgust through his body. “Nope, I heard it too. WOW, DUDE! You need to learn about people’s boundaries!” Thomas was about to reply, but Marc cut him off.

“It's ok, Nathaniel. Because ‘it's Marinette’ who can do whatever she wants because ‘she has good intentions.’”, he said with a mocking tone, using air quotes. “I bet if I was a girl, Marinette was a boy, and you were still a dude, this episode wouldn't get green lit. But it's fine for girls and other queer boys to berate me and meddle with me, according to this straight guy.”

“Let’s not blow things out of proportion now! So things get a little heated and Marinette makes a mistake! The important thing is that it’s fine in the end, you two make up and become partners!“ Thomas replied, trying to sweep this whole mess under the rug. Nathaniel was quick to catch him on his BS. “No we don't! Marinet-, oh sorry, "Ladybug" forced us to reconcile. And I never actually apologized.” Nathaniel said. “And even worse, I accepted it!” Marc hissed. “I was smiling! WHY?!”

“Because everyone loves when a misunderstanding is resolved!“ Thomas admitted. “Remember the umbrella scene? Tumblr's gonna love you guys. MarcNath will be a great fanship!“

“Oh, don’t start with that crap!” Nathaniel snarled. “This is not how you lay the foundation for a healthy relationship! This entire episode is toxic as hell!”

“Marinette herself has asked if we can change the script.” Marc noted. “She's already getting a lot of backlash, and she doesn't want to get more. And this'll probably be our only episode where we matter. This is not how I want me and my boyfriend to be represented.” Thomas just rolled his eyes. “That’s show business, boys! Sometimes you gotta do the uncomfortable stuff for the end results!” Nathaniel could feel the urge to throw up from that statement.

“I may be Jewish, but Jesus Christ! Do you know how creepy you sound right now? You know what? We'll do the episode, but don't expect us to agree to be relevant ever again.” he stated. “Yeah, I'd rather be a background fan favorite than a supporting cast member in this dumpster fire.” Marc agreed. Thomas looked disappointed by this. Not because he CARED about them, but because he wouldn’t make as much money if they didn’t become superheroes. “But what about our plan to give everyone Miraculouses?” he asked. “When the time comes, just throw us in with some other classmates. We're not having our own episodes for you to ruin.” Nathaniel replied, with him and Marc getting up and walking to the door.

Thomas frowned and humphed at them, like an angry child. “Fine by me!” he scoffed. “We were already planning on lumping together Evan and Serena getting their miraculouses, we can just throw you two in as well!”

“IVAN AND SABRINA!” the boyfriends said in unison, before shutting the door. “Man, what a jackass.” Marc said, as Nathaniel nodded in agreement. “I don’t even know why we still do this show.” he admitted. “I mean, it's not like we have a choice. You know what usually happens when characters leave the program they were created for?” Marc reminded. “They rarely get hired for anything else.” Nathaniel sighed in annoyance. “Oh yeah...”

“I'm more concerned about everyone seeing me as a soft uwu boy.” Marc worried. “I know I'm pretty anxious, but I can be confident sometimes!” Nathaniel nodded and snuggled him. “I know, babe. Lord knows what assumptions people are gonna make about me after this airs. I guess we just have to hope for the best, Marcy. I love you so much.” Nathaniel said, nuzzling his face in Marc’s neck, causing the writer to giggle.

“I love you too, Nathie. Wanna go make out in front of Thomas?” Marc asked, with a sly grin on his face. Nathaniel nodded eagerly.

“You read my mind!”

So after awhile, here it is! The next in the “Talking with Thomas” series. I couldn’t have gotten this done without the help of Weeby, who assisted with the dialogue. I’ll be answering an ask for them soon, a fanon Talking with Thomas, which serves as what may have happened in canon if their OC was written into the show. This is such a crazy freaking post to me.

Like, I hate Astruc's writing and the writing of his team, but for all their faults "giving a villain they disliked unsatasfactory treatment by the narrative" is like something they didn't do 4 times out of 5? Like, no Astruc does "build on the potential" of the main villain and his name is Gabriel and I hate him and he ironically shares more in common wity Belos then Belos shares with Chloe!

Also, Chloe shouldn't be a villain in the first place.

You know, it's just endlessly amusing to me, that people who are so invested in shows like ML and Supernatural and such this will think that because they live and breathe for the show, everyone else who interacts with it is in the same boat, even when they're an anon like this claiming they don't like it (so why are you sending anons about it then ,hm?

Can't even be bothered to reply properly to anything I pointed about about why I even interact with 5he fandom still, including the fact that I enjoy interacting with the other critical members of fandom and the friends I've made alone the way.

Like, just because I hate what the ML writers do.... Doesn't mean I'm obsessed with the show.

There's literally nothing here to damage my mental health lol, you just can't stand it when fandom isn't all sunshine and rainbows, fandom isn't just unthinking worship of a media, it's critiquing the media, it's examining it's flaws and using literal critical thinking skills lol.

I enjoy the characters, I enjoy what the show could have been, and I enjoy interacting with the other people in fandom who aren't going to let the show's rampaging bigotry run unchecked.

Me making a post talking about the sexism and racism in a piece of media is not me "being obsessed with something I hate" lol.

I'd love to love miraculous ladybug, but at this point it brings me nothing but amusement at just how bad it is lol. Occasionally watching a 20 minute episode of ML instead of The Twilight Zone or Outer Rim or Tales From The DarkSide or Moon Knight or Star Wars or random YouTube gardening videos is not me "obsessively watching something I hate".

How about instead of randomly sending anons to people who critique media you just.

Block people, instead.

marinette had so much potential to be an iconic protagonist her obsession with adrien ruined it. the moment adrien associates with a girl that looks like they have a chance with him, and even when they most obviously do not, she abuses her power as ladybug to spy. she stalks him (girlie literally has his schedule memorized) and keeps going “i trust adrien” referring to lila’s association with him as if he was obligated to be only hers.

marinette was introduced as this clumsy and forgetful but tough skinned girl who did not take shit from anyone, and loves her family dearly. a crush on adrien like blushing, stuttering, and some thoughts in class is normal for someone her age but her obsession with him is not. the writers did marinette’s character so dirty.

she had RESPECT. and her terribly obvious drool fest over him even when he’s around destroys the important trait.

“oh but marinette’s obsessive crush caused plot to take place in a lot of episodes” they could have caused it to take place with something different and reliable to her character as kind-hearted but ready to throw hands, someone who knows when they need to fix their mistake. in gamer, it could have been because mari was shown to be Experienced in the game and she wanted to join because it would be fun to play a game she likes and win for her school while she’s at it. kind intentions to bring victory to the school while enjoying herself, her realizing it was rude to just take away max’s opportunity to do the same thing she wanted to do.

or in gorizilla. she was shown to be forgetful even without the influence of adrien being the distraction that made her forget. it could have been she had forgotten to set an alarm for her swimming day with her friends. or she did set an alarm but forgot what it was for. the accidental tandem day with adrien still would have happened, maybe lessen the drooling in the ad scene during the movie date but not date by just letting her admire the guy.

there’s also this weird ass mindset where mari’s obsession ‘helps’ the romance section of the show move forward. the hell it does not?? it complicates things, and further downgrades mari’s character to unhealthily attracted girl and nothing else.

the worst thing about this obsession? she was initially attracted to him because of his kindness, consideration and the respect he showed her. he put in the effort of going after her to apologize and let her know he had no malicious intent. she wasn’t impressed by his good looks. she was impressed this guy was different, different to chloe, who seemed to have been this guy’s friend.

but the rest of the show shows marinette just stumbling because his dreamy smile happened to pass her direction.

you can make their romance bloom in ways that are healthy and set a good example for the children who watch this show. it was already good in the origins. started off on the wrong foot with nothing too dire, a side decides to communicate, the umbrella scene, marinette realizes this guy isnt a jerk after all. showing adrien and marinette actually being friends instead of just two people in the same friend group. give them a dynamic that works. that shows that no, this relationship isn’t doomed to fail in the future because they work and they’re fucking fantastic together.

Overall Fic is Post canon by a few years. Mari STILL hasn't told Adrien The Truth(tm) or ID revealed. It's becoming a real strain because Adrien's picking up that she is hiding *something* but when he asks it's all 'NOTHING IS WRONG DEAR EVERYTHING IS FINE' and friends are Zero help. So Adrien does something drastic. He looks up his childhood friend for help. He goes as Cat Walker because he doesn't think he'll get a foot in the door otherwise.(he would be right) Chloe- who has gone into the bloody world of modeling and fashion- isn't a NICE person, nice people don't survive that world, but she's... matured some. Once she hears the full tale and Adrien detransforms(he's only revealing Cat Walker's ID!) she's on board. Her plan? Basically rile up Marinette's crisis-prone mind to the point she comes clean to 'save' the relationship. So, Chloé's going to make herself exist in the group again, and monopolize Adrien (though only as a show and specifically only in a private way) adding in a little innuendo until Mari cracks. No ACTUAL hanky-panky is in the offing, just giving Mari's mind enough rope to do the work for them. Her price is: She gets to have Cat Walker on her arm for a few big events. It'll generate buzz, clout, and some good credit for the circles she is in now. Adrien: This plan is awful. Chloe: You came to me. Adrien: ... okay. So the angst bomb- LB will of course confront CN. What is Cat Walker DOING?! Why does he have the miraculous?! etc. CN will try to stonewall, but LB's riled up from the actual plan so she's taking less nonsense. So, a bit riled up himself... CN *tells her who Cat Walker is. Adrien Agreste. He doesn't tell her *HE* is also Adrien Agreste, so he's keeping the right secret in theory. What he *doesn't* know is that Ladybug is Marinette, so now she thinks that not only is Chloe sniffing around Adrien in private life(though he tells Mari it's nothing and it is), but Adrien is borrowing a miraculous specifically to hang out with Chloe at big public events too. So what is she supposed to think about *that*? It's like rolling a crit and a fumble at the same time.

Oh that's toxic as hell I love it!

Im watching Oni-chan and does anyone else find it kinda weird that they didnt have a plotpoint where someone thinks Kagami might be Ladybug? Like, when she showed up in Riposte wearing that red very formfitting fencing outfit I was like "huh, if you squint she kinda looks like Ladybug" but then she also immediately gets akumatized and Chat Noir and Ladybug fight her so Adrien knows she cant be her, which seems like a missed opportunity. Like, I love Kagami, but right know she (and Luca) is just a pointless diversion from the main romance which already isnt very well developed and I feel like if Adrien initially thought Kagami was Ladybug and fell for her because of that, only to find out that he was wrong that could like, do something for the love square's development. Like, maybe force Adrien to reflect and think about his relationship to Ladybug or smth idk Im just spitballin here. Also, I feel like if Kagami found out that Adrien only really tried to get to know her because he thought she was Ladybug and not because he liked her for herself, that would be a far better reason for her to get akumatized a second time than the reason from Oni-chan but that might just be me

Nathaniel: One of my favorite websites keeps changing the interface of this website for the worse! Radars that you can’t block, ads are everywhere, and now they made the layout exactly like Twitter!

Alya: Kim, it’s like if your favorite soccer team kept switching their logos or removing features of their stadium that made it special.

Kim: Oh. Yeah that would suck!

(Nathaniel knew he didn’t really understand, but appreciated the effort.)

Mylene: *Mumbling* I wish you’d show this much anger about the environment.

(She’s comforted by Ivan, who pats her on the back.)

Marinette: You’re not gonna get akumatized over this, are you?

Nathaniel: Of course not! Why do you ask?

(Marinette begins to sweat.)

Marinette: N-no reason.

Nathaniel: Besides, I’m more concerned about Marc.

(Meanwhile in the Science Class, Mendeliev’s kids are trying to restrain a furious Marc. It takes Denise to hold him down while Simon and Ismael are searching for the tranquilizer gun.)

Marc: FIRST THE AO3 ATTACK AND NOW THIS! HEADS WILL ROLL! THEY WILL FUCKING ROLL!

Look at this five ML Asian women. Every single one has blue hair. Fei's the darkest and it is very subtle, and Kagami's sometimes turquoise. But you get the point. Four of them have side swept bangs, with the three teenagers having them in the same direction. Tomoe's hair is the most unique. Kagami's hair and Sabine's are almost the same. Fei's hair and Marinette's hair look very similar, especially considering these prototypes of Marinette:

(The second image is from the old Lady Luck game, I found the pic in the Wiki. Yeah, I wasn't sure if that's Mari because they look sooo different. But she has to be).

Now you get why people are upset Fei is sooo similar to prototype Marinette. She screams prototype Marinette. And in general it's weird how the ML staff seem to dislike natural hair colors for Asian women. Asian men get to have actual black hair. Even Marc has totally black hair! And it's weird too seeing that they tend to have similar designs and similar color scheme and similar animals and- sigh.
