So a while back, I went to a flea market and bought a used my little pony G1 Merriweather. Unfortunately she was not in the best condition. She’s has a few small paint spots on her body. She was missing some of her hair and her tail had rust but I love a challenge, and I love restoring dolls and ponies, unfortunately my ADD got the better of me and I didn’t take a whole lot of before pictures just after pictures the only before picture I have is of the missing hair plugs on her head so here’s that 

But I’ve always been a bit on the creative side and I decided instead of just restoring Merriweather. I wanted to customize her a little see she’s supposed to be twice as fancy right and her body is just such a gorgeous design, but her hair just feels so meh in comparison, so I decided to add a pink streak to match the pink in her rainbows. I removed the rust from her tail which I did with toothpaste and soap, then I ordered some pink hair (candy kiss )from shimmer locks and I put some in the tail and then some in her head and then I used the little bit of yellow that I took out of her tail to fill in the last few spots in her head to make everything even

what do you guys think 

I know generally customizing perfectly good G1 is frowned upon by the collector community, but actually like her a lot more this way, and I don’t intend to resell her this for my own personal enjoyment

Help Pinkie Pie!!

I found this poor girl at a charity shop today. Not sure what's wrong with her tail, but it's stiff, hard and leaves a brown/black residue. I think it could be a case of severe rusting. Any advice on how I can fix her is greatly appreciated.

i rehaired lickety split!! im gonna curl her new hair tomorrow. rerooting was super fun and im excited to do it again (probably tomorrow with my custom pony im working on)

Btw I found a pony at a thrift store and restored her and im gonna ramble abt it cause im proud of her:)

90% sure she’s from Styling Series Wave 1, which released along side Fluttery and Rarity in 2014. The bottom of her hoof is branded 2013, so, I think that checks out.

Here’s the condition I found her in..

You can’t quite tell, but her mane is in loose frizzy curls, and her tail is.. lord help the tail

So gave her a wash, used Clorox wipes/nail polish remover to get rid of the markers/paint, then gave her hair a wash/fabric softener treatment and put it in makeshift curlers

Annnddd here’s how she’s looking now!

Her tail is still pretty frizzy, but it’s better than it was, so I’m happy with it. And her MANE!! So cute.

Anyway. Yay ponies. She’s a sweetie.

ok ok so the two ladies on the washing block today are the ones in most need of help, Strawberry Swirl (2002) and Glow (1987)

I did Strawberry first to warm up for Glow, since she would prove to be difficult not only because of her small size but also, obviously the wings. they're very delicate

after i washed her, she ended up looking like she's got a wedding dress with a big collar lol

we'll check back in a few hours once she's dried to see how she looks!

for Glow, I genuinely thought her mane would be the most difficult, because not only do you not want to get the wings wet or bent, you also don't want to get any water in the holes where the hair comes out of because you risk mold growth or tail rusting. but actually, her mane was MUCH less trouble than her tail, her tail was RIDICULOUSLY tangled and had a lot of debris I hadn't anticipated. nothing I couldn't handle though! she's already looking way better and she hasn't dried yet

again, I had to be careful with the wings so her wrapping job is... crusty. I had a difficult time with it but it'll get the job done

AND NOW... FOR THE RESULTS

theyre still a bit damp, i took the towels off too early, but yeah theyre sooooo cute :D

Let’s fix up a rainbow dash who is in DESPERATE need of some TLC

oh dear!! although your braids are very pretty, they are a bit dirty and crusty.. she was obviously very loved

if they weren’t so yucky, this style is very cute!

ahhh! a good wash and mane wash! although it felt sad to straighten out those lovely waves, let’s restyle now that there’s no frizz!

to stay loyal to her origin! Back in the braids she goes! (Albeit much cleaner)

And VOILA! Looking absolutely rainbow DASHING again!
