mmmmmmmmmmm that’s a very good question.

i don’t know if i have the perfect answer because everything we know in canon about apollo is so influenced and redefined by zeus/olympus’ rules and views about demigods that i don’t feel we’ve ever seen him act without those being a factor.

by which i mean that even when allowed to interact with his kids freely (eg when he was at Camp in the first and last book), apollo still couldn’t undo years of damage in a few weeks. in THO it was apparent that he knew his children very little, and he still hadn’t shedded his facade of carelessness and immaturity (except in life and death situations). he was considered almost more of a peer than a parent, and for good reason.

in ToN, he was kind of busy not dying, and was mentally preparing himself for the goodbye he believed to be final or almost final.

still, with the little information that we have (including his relationship with Esklapios), i’d say an apollo who’s allowed to parent would be:

1) extremely protective lmao

2) a ride or die, “i stand with my cancelled daughter” type of parent.

3) very fun. let’s skip school and get donuts type of fun. ofc i want to see your bug collection type of fun. let’s sign up to a cooking class together type of fun. love your emo style keep expressing yourself baby type of fun.

4) physically and verbally affectionate. no apollo kid would ever have to complain their father never said he was proud of them.

i really think his main issue as a parent would be that he’d spoil and justify the kids too much lol. can’t envision him as particularly strict.

we do have the halcyon green story which… always me throws me out of a loop, but the main consensus in the fandom is that he was somehow pressured or forced into that decision. not because we don’t believe apollo can be cruel or unfair (he definitely can), but because his love and kindness towards his own kids is a pretty established trait of him. my man has his flaws but let’s be fr.

Going down, seeing Scar in the morning, as if he's his boyfriend who just woke up and is coming to give him a morning smooch is truly something. I cant believe the two of them decided it was Normal and Fine for a frumpy, sleepy Grian to just Appear. Mmm mm mmmm mmmmmmmmmmm. And that Scar made him pancakes and that Grian was just able to tear Scar away from his work and Scar isn't even putting up a fight at all oh my god. GRIAN CALLING SCAR PRETTY AND THE TWO OF THEM JUST SITTING WITH THAT. THIS IS GAY, GENTLEMEN. YOU ARE BEING BOYFRIENDS. I AM SHOUTING INTO A MEGAPHONE BUT LO, I AM A TINY FROG.
