Hasn't had a puff in 210 years...
So being a medical cannabis user and general enjoyer of the herb, I of course downloaded Cannabis Commonwealth for my new Fallout 4 game.
Now, Cannabis Commonwealth is a great mod. Lots of thought was put into it, and the growing mechanic is about as close to realistic as you can get with this game engine. Also, the plant models are gorgeous. And it’s funny as hell when I have Morgan light up a joint and she stands there smoking and literally refuses to do anything else until she’s done. Relatable, especially after 210 years…
That said, there’s only one flaw to the whole experience. One tiny thing that left me frustrated and going on wild goose chases for days. That is: I couldn’t figure out who in the hell in the entire Commonwealth was selling buds and seeds.
Now, for those who have installed this mod and are faced with the same question: Rachel, Dr. Forsythe’s assistant down in Vault 81, is the sole person that I have found with the hookup. Apparently, she’s been running a little side business behind everyone's back. She restocks every 48 hours like a standard merchant, and each time her sale list includes at least a few buds and types of seeds.
I found this out completely by accident after checking every merchant, trader, doctor, and drug pusher I could think of and going on multiple wild-goose chases. Vault 75 has a giant chem stash according to a junkie’s note? Look there. Vault 95 is notorious for its huge stock of prewar chems? Let’s try there. The big losers in this whole exercise were the Gunners, which was hilarious.
I’m just imagining Gunners seeing a furious Minutemen General in full colors plowing her way through two of their bases, including their vault of origin and secondary base of operations, while they try to figure out which of their many, many crimes has actually brought her wrath down on them.
Gunner in Vault 95: This is a general alert to Headquarters and to all tertiary bases and squads within comm range. We are under attack by the Minutemen General, her second in command, three robots, and a dog. Lock down all bases immediately and prepare for attack.
Gunner in Vault 75: Mike, what the hell is going on over there?
95: It’s Corporal Miller--oh fuck it, I’m probably gonna die anyway. It’s a complete shitstorm, Joey. She’s reprogrammed most of our robots to add to her force, our turrets are shut down and our recruits are dropping like flies.
75: Oh God. What the hell caused this? Is it because of Quincy? Or our attacks on her settlements?
95: It could also be retaliation for when we kidnapped her buddy Jake and beat the shit out of him, or when we killed Old Paul, or when we interrogated The Ron including breaking bones and snatching his wig…
75: …wow. We’ve, uh, done a lot to piss her off, haven’t we?
95: Yep. And there’s no telling which one was the last straw…
Morgan, meanwhile: WHERE’S THE FUCKING WEED YOU TIN-SOLDIER ASSHOLES I KNOW YOU’RE HOLDING OUT ON ME

Half-Life Mod: Space Prisoner (Review)
Tumblr media
Space Prisoner is a short story mod for Half-Life. In it, you play as a an unnamed prisoner on board a space craft that is being attacked by Xen creatures! Eventually you are set free from your cell, and the ship captain G-Man allows you to run free as he needs you to help get the ship back in shape by activating its second power generator.
Tumblr media
While short, this is a nice little mod with good game-play, nice visuals and a unique environment - space! I played through it on hard, and while it was challenging, I was able to make it through without too much trouble - so the difficulty balancing is spot on.
Tumblr media
I had difficulty realizing these were actually breakable because they look quite sturdy!
What criticisms I have are pretty minor. There was one game play bug where I found I could fall through the floor in a particular hallway next to a door-frame, getting stuck. There was also a room containing metal crates that I didn't know were breakable at first, because they looked so solid. I can understand the creator not wanting to use wood crates in a sci-fi environment, but I feel that a different (maybe more flimsy-looking?) texture on the boxes may have helped me read them as being breakable more quickly. The rest of the bugs were just graphical ones, with geometry occasionally acting strangely, but not in any way that ruined the game-play, thankfully.
Tumblr media
Some cool scenery but unfortunately up on the walls, the geometry was doing some strange stuff, too.
I definitely recommend this for any Half-Life lovers! It's a short but sweet little adventure. :) You can download the mod here:
Also, if the game launches in a weird resolution on steam, try adding this to the launch options: "-full -w 1024 -h 600 -freq 60"

Was playing Sekiro Resurrection today, and holy shit it's such a well designed mod
The difficulty isn't too bad to the point where I feel like throwing my monitor at a wall but it isn't too easy to the point where I feel like just turning off my computer and doing something else
I also especially like the lack of status spam. I see a lot of super difficult fromsoft mods tend to give every enemy like the most busted status buildup and the mod has basically no status buildup besides the base games existing buildup
I also like some of the changes to combat, recoil counters are absolutely lovely and I wish there was a mod that added just them to Sekiro.
the prize of an enhanced Ashina Cross and One Mind for waiting/being more careful and calculating is great and something I'd love to see as its own standalone mod
13/10 great mod well balanced (unlike a mod starting with L and ending with MTSR) and the creator has great ideas with great execution.

Cool mod, but it's kind of useless since it's very hard to get Mechanoids into a position where they're trapped for a long time in such extreme temperatures. I never found myself in a situation where this mod saved me where no other method of defense didn't. You'd have to go out of your way to make this mod useful.

Playing With Dolls Mods, Group 1
I spent so much time and brain energy on this, it turned into a Tumblr. Make of that what you will.
This is a reasonably thorough comparison of IQOL vs. Fashionist vs. Tot Custom. The main features I was looking for were thrall customization, from physical appearance to outfit changing, including on crafting thralls, while also retaining ease-of-use and keeping complexity down. (Emberlight, for example, has such features, but also is rolling in a bunch of other stuff.)
The TL;DR here is: My pick is Fashionist. The shard system is nonintuitive and a little clunky, but works once you know what to do, and can technically do everything: change appearance, warpaint, clothes, whatever. And for just changing clothes, the Fashionist bench is even simpler. Put outfits on the Fashionist armor stands and choose which thrall and which outfit--or thralls, cause you can change people en masse--and go. Plus it has other useful, related features that I'll get to, and it plays (mostly) nicely with IQOL, if you'd rather have access to the advanced sliders.
Most importantly, Fashionist is the only real valid all-in-one solution. IQOL can't change crafting thrall outfits, and Tot Custom can't modify crafting thralls at all.
Okay, now to dig into things:
Fashionist
The core of Fashionist involves learning its Knowledges for its thrall bench, stands, and the mirror (which you craft in your inventory when you unlock it). These aren't overly cheap (the mirror takes silver and a fragment of power, for example). So by default, you do sort of have to 'earn' it, like everything else in the game.
You CAN change your character's appearance with the mirror (you do 'apply code' if you want to change YOUR appearance). But the mirror's main use is to create Shards. You can do anything you want in the creator with how you want a thrall to look, including swapping gender, voice, etc. Then you create a Shard (and can change the color swatch to tell them apart) and it shows up in your inventory. Add it to a thrall's inventory or a crafting bench with a thrall in it, and Use the shard. You'll go to a menu where you can select stuff you do or don't want to change. By default, everything that was still on your character when you made the shard, including your outfit, is saved to it; so uncheck what you DON'T want to carry over. (But you CAN change a thrall head-to-toe this way, by dressing up your character how you want them to look.) Sometimes I'll get some flickery graphics issues on this screen, and I don't know what ALL the options do, but it does work.
Using the Fashionist Mirror:
Tumblr media
The Shard to modify a thrall's appearance:
Tumblr media
The screen that appears when you use a Shard, with options to use. Click Apply to make the changes
Tumblr media
Before and After on a crafting thrall, using ONLY the Mirror. (Equipping the desired outfit and warpaint and editing appearance with the Mirror and then creating a Shard and using it on the crafter.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Thrall Bench
Tumblr media
You craft the Thrall Bench with your hammer. When you open it, you get a menu like this:
Tumblr media
You'll have a list of all your thralls in range in the middle (and you can search/filter). On the right are all the mannequins nearby you have set up (the mannequins are part of the Fashionist Knowledges you learn and craft). You put the outfit you want on your thralls on the mannequin, go to the bench, and select the thrall(s) to dress, and then Distribute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Hey, short-shorts are for everybody.)
And you can still apply Dyes and whatnot. Which, in fact, brings me to some other features: Color Picker: When you go to dye stuff, you'll have a "Color Picker" button in the bottom right. It'll let you choose from a range of colors from the get-go without using dyes. Unless you wanna be anal about writing down EXACTLY what RGB combos you use, though, I'll still use Dyes. Matching is hard:
Tumblr media
Helmet Stands:
Tumblr media
Saddle Displays and Dyeable Saddles:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enhanced Styling: In the inventory screen, you have Style slots on the right and multiple Warpaint slots. You can lock in a transmog without mucking with your equipment:
Tumblr media
In this, wearing Vanir armor for actual equipment, but Black Corsair leggings and boots on the right for style. Additionally, there are warpaint slots for head, torso, and hands, for mixing and matching, and the Warpaint color picker wheel at the bottom lets you change the warpaint colors. At the bottom, Weapon Styles, it'll automatically change a matching weapon to the selected skin.
Tumblr media
In this, Punching Daggers are equipped, but the Relic Chakram style is applied. (It does not remove the gear for the style from your inventory and I'm unsure what happens if you remove it; if you don't transmog, you may have to carry both things, or it might 'lock in'.)
The mod is configurable and the color system, styles, mirror access, etc., can be altered or turned off. In the inventory screen, the blue Fashionist button all the way to the left has the mod configs.
Now for a mod it plays fairly nicely with (and which I used during testing), IQOL:
Improved Quality of Life
IQOL has multiple features that can be toggled and modified. The UI is dead-simple: Hit shift + M to bring it up and go through the tabs.
Tumblr media
My Appearance: As you'd imagine, the first tab lets you edit character appearance. IQOL has its own UI for this and greatly expands the available sliders and range. Under Server Settings, each individual slider can be set to limit the minimums and maximums for all the customization settings. This looks tedious, but luckily there are some built-in limitations by default... though you can still push the sliders for some very strange appearances. IQOL also allows for finer color shading; you can pick colors from a color wheel for hair and skin. It also gives you drop-down options for voices and can adjust pitch, you can choose your crimes from the game start, etc.
By default, IQOL overrides the character creation screen at the new game screen:
Tumblr media
We'll come back to the appearance customization since that's mostly what I focused on.
My Physics allegedly modifies... breast and butt jiggle physics. I did not test.
My Settings, pictured above, has all the toggles for the non-appearance related mod aspects, like the minimap, compass, map markers, and HUD options.
Server NPC Settings I think lets you modify the "default" appearance of spawned NPCs to be further out of its normal range. You can also choose to hide certain gear slots by default on NPCs, like helmets.
Server Settings sets up permissions to do various things with the mod, including permission to modify thralls, and sets limitations on what can and can't be edited and how far.
Modifying Thralls: Besides modifying yourself, IQOL also allows for straightforward modification of thrall appearances. You press E on a thrall to open the radial menu and select the IQOL option. You can copy a thrall's appearance to yourself, copy your appearance to a thrall, and also mess with saving/loading presets. Mostly you'll probably just take the option to customize the thrall.
Tumblr media
This just opens up the customization UI directly on the thrall in the world. It does allow you to "spotlight" the thrall to see what you're doing. But the camera is odd (you'll usually start off with your point of view buried in a wall or a butt) and you'll have to mess with Rotate/Move to be able to see your thrall, especially crafting thralls.
They will not stop animating while you edit them, by the way:
Tumblr media
IQOL cannot change thrall clothing. In fact, if you 'remove equipment' during customization, you can't actually put it back, which is why I've got the Cook in her undies in a prior screenshot.
Luckily, it pairs well with Fashionist, with just a few caveats:
Tumblr media
IQOL lets you customize your character outside of normal boundaries. Fashionist does not. So when you use the Fashionist Mirror with a character edited with IQOL, you'll get a warning like the above. (This won't change your character unless you Apply Code.) What it means, though, is there's an order of operations if you want IQOL customization on your thralls:
Design your thrall as close as you can with the Fashionist Mirror, make the Shard, and transmute them with it. THEN use the IQOL editor to make further changes and refinements. If you try to modify a character with the Fashionist mirror that has already been changed with IQOL, you will lose any IQOL edits that are outside the game's normal limits and have to redo them. You'll still be able to change outfits with the bench and such, though.
I do think they pair well together. IQOL allows for just a bit more of that refining 'oomph' after Fashionist, allowing for a broader range of physiques, facial features, and hair/skin tones. And some of the added features I'm sure will appeal to some. However, while the 'default' set-up has some limitations on it, it IS mostly free-for-all for the shade pickers and physique changes, and the admin settings to set limits for each slider individually made me tired just looking at it. Something to keep in mind from a server standpoint. But some people really want green skin...
Other Mods: Before getting to Tot! Custom, I'll address a few other customization mods I threw in (and can be seen in some screenshots). Fashionist and IQOL work great with the game's vanilla assets, and even better with more options to use:
Barbarian Barber: Greatly expanded hairstyle options (men and women).
Immersive Armors: Adds a Customization Kit (which requires crafting) and allows you to make Crafting Reagents to make "skins", basically, for weapons and armor. Adds a huge amount of outfit and weapon options that have little to no stats and are meant for transmogs and styling only. Aims to be lore-friendly and stay within the bounds of the Conan setting. It also gives characters additional equipment slots to allow layering with jewelry, belts, capes, etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will note, though, that the extra slots seem to need to be 'coded' to go there; so, for example, modded jewelry will go in jewelry slots, but the vanilla jewelry seems to just replace your equipment.
Okay, next up:
Tot! Custom (And Friends)
Tot I had to approach differently because it is it's own little ecosystem with a suite of mods made to go with it. It requires the Sudo Exile admin panel to function, and has a number of other mods, too, but aren't necessary. It explicitly won't play with Fashionist or IQOL.
I also took this opportunity to try out some of the customization mods designed for Tot: Exiled Aesthetics, Cookie's Skinnery, and Face It. This expanded warpaint, skin tone, and default face options.
Tot Custom by default opens its menu with Shift + B. This also opens the Battlepass. I had to rebind it to be able to use the mod.
So here's the thing with Tot: It is an advanced customization powerhouse. You can edit anything about your character about as much as you want. The possibilities are endless. I suffered decision fatigue. Sometimes my brain melted. You can configure even more warpaint slots than Fashionist. You can alter how shiny your hair is and you can give it highlights or undertones or streaks. You can make your skin shiny. You can set your default 'transmog style' from the get-go, where you always have that outfit 'illusion' set no matter what you equip. You can look at thumbnail previews of stuff before you select it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can set three different make-up slots and layer them, alter colors with a color picker, make them more or less vibrant, change tattoo colors, have moles and freckles... and, with things like the Skinnery, you can have fantasy skins, too. Or, with the Exiled Aesthetics, you can have intricate, lore-friendly warpaints from Stygia, or Shem, and others.
I actually gave up on the character creation options way before I ran out of things to look at.
On to the thrall customization, which... took me a bit to figure out. You have to wade through the admin/role setup screen for the Tot mod in order to unlock the ability to modify thralls with the radial menu. There's a LOT of admin options. I sort of just clicked through things until I could do what I wanted and give this rando Hyborian a glow-up:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is impressive. But I struck out on the crafting thralls. If there is a way to modify them with Tot's system, I can't find it, and if it's buried somewhere in the admin settings, I don't have the heart to dig into it, and the fact that even the mod's Help page just hands you a 30minute Youtube video speaks volumes.
I'm not opposed to trying out Tot on my own terms where I can take some time to really learn all the different settings and admin controls. But it's easily the biggest learning curve and lacks what I considered an essential feature for my current purposes, especially since it won't play with any of the mods that could make up for it.
Some more quick verdicts:
Best Ease-of-Use: IQOL
Best Thrall Customization Suite: Fashionist
Most Advanced Customization Options: Tot! Custom
That's it for now, until I have a whole other mod grouping to tackle for some specific purpose. That will hopefully not consume most of a holiday next time!

in my heart there's another probably worse universe where instead of the watchers taking off after evo, etho's writers from 404 became the highly misunderstood "i am fictionalizing and poking fun at my relationship with my audience & their perceptions of me and how i am motivated by them but not in a 1:1 cause and effect relationship and they are kind of obnoxious but i also care abt my literal audience liking what i do bc i do make stuff for youtube" fandom staple.
there's something substantial in here abt grian being SUPER particular abt things in a different but parallel way to etho (grian not watching other smp member's POVs and being open abt that bc it allows for genuine surprise, etho's like everything ever? but top of mind his old insistence against modded stuff, comment of the day, etc.) but honestly. can anyone who actually cares abt the watchers or whatever write me a 404 crossover. thats what i want

Your recent update made me wonder about something. I don’t know how much you know about this but wanted to try asking anyway. Hopefully this makes sense? Why would the English translation choose to censor things? I assume translations are being done in America where queer things are slowly becoming more accepted but is that a factor? Are the translators themselves changing certain things due to their own biases? I don’t know who they are and don’t want to assume anything about them, but I can’t help wondering if that’s part of the reason? Or is it because of something like, for example, sometimes movies or TV shows have certain content removed based on where it’s being aired, so is it something like that? Is the game being released in regions where queer content is banned or removed? Now that I wrote it, I feel like this is the most likely answer but what do you think? I basically just rambled in your ask my bad. Also, do you know if the Korean and/or Taiwan servers have censorship too?
oh there's more than just the Asahi thing and i have mentioned it in passing before but i'll cover it properly here. "the miles i fell in love with is so cool" -> "it was so cool! i guess that's miles for you" is definitely the biggest example though.
First off, a minor thing. it doesn't really happen anymore but in the earlier translations they quite often use words other than partner, like "pals" and "buds", in the VBS story. Probably one of the best examples of this would be An and Kohane's 3rd kizuna title, which the JP name was often fan-translated as "Making each other better" or "Raising each other up", and is called "Two supportive pals" on EN. Which does have the same meaning but the "pals" seems so unneccesary when they could've used partners. The original text is Takameau futari, the first part means "to raise" or "to lift" and futari means "two people" or "a pair/couple". So it technically is a good enough translation but using pals when partners would be more accurate to canon just seems.. off.
I’m assuming their avoidance of the word partner is because it could easily be misinterpreted as romantic, but they seem to have moved on from that at this point.
Tumblr media
There's also THE POWER OF UNITY where they switch out "love" (daisuki) for "cares about a lot" when KAITO is comparing the relationship between Arata and Souma to Akito and Toya. Daisuki literally means "likes a lot" so often you'll see people translate it as love, though likes a lot is still valid. "Cares about" is not a direct translation but definitely can still convey the same meaning, so again instance of valid localisation it just seems like an odd choice when using love would've conveyed the exact same meaning and been more true to the original.
Tumblr media
Then you've got another instance of them not translating daisuki correctly in Dear Me, As I Was Back Then (sorry this one is a wiki screenshot my phone died). This is worse. Like I guess if you really want then it does have a close enough meaning to the original. Like I guess daisuki meaning "like a lot" or "love" could be localised as "you're the best" if you really wanted it too. But even then, the line before this is "I'm gonna show just how much I admire her!". Minori's shout of "I LOVE YOUUU" from the original would be way more fitting here. "You're the best" feels too casual and buddy-buddy - even if Minori didn't know Haruka at this point, Haruka still had a big impact on her life and imo "I love you" would be the best to use here.
Tumblr media
There’s also this one from Walk on and on that removes one key thing. In the original, Toya says something more along the lines of “I was able to make this track because I want to continue to be a partner who can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you from now on and always”. This is a bit more similar to the Asahi incident in that they’ve restructured the sentence to make it two, adding in the thing about performing which isn’t even there originally, and replacing “korekara saki mo zutto” with “keep singing with you”. And “keep singing with you” still works, but it’s much more toned down, let’s say. You know what really is odd about this translation though? If the quote I put seems familiar, it’s because it’s also the name of Toya’s event card. Kinda odd they omitted that from the story then, huh? The thing is the translation of the card is very accurate so removing it from the story starts to seem intentional, especially when everything around it is accurately translated like with the Asahi incident. Also doing this removes the fact that the card name references the story so what the hell are you doing EN? It's the same sentence, if you can translate it correctly on the card you can translate it correctly in the story.
And I’m gonna do a massive Dude Trust Me on this one and keep it brief because I don’t have screenshots of it and couldn't find any online, but there’s another example I can think of with Rui’s spring voiceline from 2022. On EN he says "Ah Tsukasa, what a coincidence!" but on JP he says "it must be some sort of fate that we met here". Which admittedly is still pretty much the same meaning, it's just like a way more casual version of it because of course it is. EN is just generally not great at localising a lot of Rui's more poetic speech as well, so I'll let this one slide for now.
There's definitely more than this, this is just what came to mind first and I don't want to make this post too long.
These were certainly... choices. Especially with the ones that translate daisuki wrong because they do translate it correctly on other occasions, most frequently with An and Kohane. I'm assuming the reason they omitted it with the guys is because it's far harder to pass off guys saying that they love each other as platonic because societal expectations or whatever, but I'm actually surprised by the change to Dear Me because normally they're pretty good with Minori and Haruka. Like they've translated daisuki correctly for them before and leave in everything else that indicates Minori has a crush on Haruka, so why not this line?
I'm tempted to say that they just change the things that they think are too hard to safely pass off as platonic, but then again they left all of the unsubtle ship teasing in Buddy Funny Spend Time, which has a lot of focus on Minori and Haruka's relationship (and they even left in Haruka saying that Minori makes her heart tickle in her card story), so I'm genuinely not sure why they left that in but then changed one instance of Minori saying she loves Haruka which doesn't even have to be interpreted romantically. Like what is the limit here? An can say she's going on a date (with Kohane) and the WEG regulars can ask who she's been seeing, but Asahi can say he fell in love with Tsukasa's character and it gets removed. Both of them are explicitly romantic. The only thing I can think of is that An's comes from a whole card story and event, but Asahi's is one line that's easy to remove. Same with Toya saying he wants to stay with Akito forever.
In other words, it's a mess and I don't think any of what I just wrote is coherent either.
Interpret all of this however you will at the end of the day it’s all just ship tease which is up to interpretation anyway. Except the Asahi thing that was explicitly romantic that one is a censor.
Oh and as far as I know the KR and TW servers don’t do this.

Okay, so basically, I've been revisiting the older FNF mods (from around 2020-2021), for nostalgia's sake. So I started rewatching the FNF HD mod. I knew it was 90% a reskin mod, so I did not have my expectations TOO high.
But for the most part, I don't dislike it as much as other people do, the artstyle's neat and it was one of the first few mods that tried to give FNF a story. Even if it's not as cool as it used to be back then, it was fine for its time.
But I do have ONE pet peeve with it. The part I remember disliking the most, even back in 2021:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pico. Yeah, I'm gonna be real, I did not like Pico in FNF HD. They just made him into the biggest dickhead imaginable in that mod.
I know Pico from FNF or even the Pico's School series isn't exactly a saint, I know that, but bruh, in FNF HD the guy was just insuferable.

So it's true that GF's dad hired Pico to kill BF, that part is accurate.
But in vanilla FNF, Pico CHOSE to spare BF due to their past relationship. In HD, nah he's cool killing BF, he's just "playing with his food" before he does.
My dude, you have the gun, you want to kill BF, he's right there infront of you, why are you wasting your time doing this?? (Even if GF can just shoo him away with her demon powers anyway)

Oh wait, he just does that anyway. He said "imma spare you if I jam to the beat". Nah, that was all one big lie.

Screw you too.
And then there's the memey screenshot that's been flodding Twitter recently:

No notes, 10 outta 10 /j
And then Pico loses again and GF sends him to the Shadow Realm. GGs, my boi, GGs.
That's about the only big peeve I have with the mod right now, the rest of it is fine... mostly. I mean, the dialogue is mostly some really sus stuff, a ton of innuendos, and then the Mommy Mearest week. That entire week was, uh... a little TOO much for me.
(rip the monetization of the let's play youtubers who uploaded videos when Week 4 HD came out lol).
And I like the new remixes of the songs for the most part. And as far as 2021 mods go, it didn't age THAT badly. I've been an FNF fan (ugh cringe) since Week 5 came out, I've seen WAY worse mods than HD.
But yeah... fuck Pico HD, don't like that guy. They did my fav character dirty... and that is the post. Follow for more ramblings/opinions of random stuff I find online, and hope y'all were as freaked out by this portrait as I was when I first saw it, peace-
