This heavily modded Doll Leaves Betty was a labor intensive project to turn her into Ranni the Witch from Eldenring.
The mods I did are as follow:
Closed one eye
Carved cracks into the face
Drilled holes for a second set of arms
Carved cracks all over the body
On e all the mods were done, I painted her from head to toe of course. I’m glad she’s done!

Got some things in the mail yesterday from SMPdoll’s preorder from April…I think?
Got a pair of jeans special for Qianna, a dress and 2 bodysuits for Kyrie, and a skirt for Tris. The body suits are also super stretchy so I can actually fit Tris in them. XD I don’t think I’ll keep the green one on her though since I don’t want the fabric to get all screwy from being stretched out too much. Kinda meh about the skirt at the moment mostly because everyone that does high waist stuff for Roze bodies seems to think they gotta be up-to-the-tits high. They really just need to be a bit over the belly button and you’re good.

Also if you want to be really neurotic about it you could get this head printed in resin and completely customize it

Look, Resinsoul is a fantastic company, but suggesting that they may be the ONLY option for an unconventional doll is just a straight up lie. Whatever happened to modding? And mixing and matching parts? It’s great that Resinsoul can do some of the work for you, but sometimes the best way to get what you really want is to just do it yourself.
(((2nd "unberied" confession of the day))) 🙏

Asha & Starboy
Since it’s February and Valentine Day is coming, I give you: The Cutest Couple that Never Was!
I know I said in a previous post that Wish (2023) disappointed me, BUT-
The concept had so much potential; the King and Queen being both evil, Asha having powers from the start and of course, STARBOY! I just love that concept of a playful magical being that could also potentially be a cute love interest to Asha, but they can’t be together because he must go back to the sky at the end or something (literal star-crossed lovers). So since Disney didn’t deliver, I did it myself.
Details below:
I sculpted their faces with Fimo and for the bodies, I used a snapstar doll body for Asha and a cheap modified BJD doll for Starboy (he was too tall, so I had to saw the legs shorter and give him monster high hands), I also slightly modified Asha’s design and dress (I wanted it more flowy), and while I did took inspiration from the concept arts for Starboy, I decided to design my own outfit for him, something that resemble more a shiny jester outfit, given he was supposed to be a joyous character (we were robbed, seriously).
fun fact: those wish balls are actually painted bouncing balls.
Bonus: Star's first draft

I have a Delilah Noir !
I was looking for gunky bundles and found a damaged 'bjd' instead. She was a mess.
So I have two projects for the weeks ahead :
Celia the BJD: sculpting in Milliput for neck and hips then sanding and testing wig ideas.
Delilah Noir: acetone goop repair for the ankle, making a head cap, removing the pink overpaint from the lips, possibly filling the mouth slightly with coats of black + acrylic matte. Delilah probably won't be staying, she's a fun project but I'd want to modify her significantly.
photos under cut:
Tumblr media
Celia's wiring. I'm not touching the eye makeup until the last minute, it gives her a cheekiness that demands attention - I will get around to doing the work!
Tumblr media
Delilah looked like she'd been splashed with coffee. Her wig was glued to the front and back of her head (no head cap) with non water-soluble (or alcohol for that matter) glue so I gently pried it off and soaked it before removing the glue with my finger nails strand by strand from the wig (acetone for the head).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her putty was both hard and turning into dust while also oily and pretending to be soft which is a very odd textural sensation... and had cracked one of the eyes a little. I removed the eyelash and replaced it with acrylic matte sealant for glue (dries clear, no clumps, water-soluble) as well as repainting the chipped lower lash lines.
She had stains on her upper eyes at the nose bridge, the eyeliner doesn't quite fit the eye with pink parts showing - the lipstick also doesn't quite match the lip sculpt. It's taking me a while to remove the pink, I'm thinking it's maybe enamel paint
Tumblr media
Please excuse the green putty - since fixed it. There's potential in that face, I like the heavy lidded teen goth y2k look but it's missing something beyond my skillsets.

We all know I’m a sucker for a blind box.
Folks here may or may not know I collect resin ball jointed dolls. I also like vinyl/abs HJD.
There are blind box BJD.
I ordered a Simon’s Club Toy Campus Series doll on Amazon:  https://amzn.to/3JT66Qy and she was delivered today.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I first looked through them I chose my favorites knowing FULL well that I would get the one I wanted the least. That’s how it works.
I have a reputation for weirdly good blind bag luck, but that only applies if I’m the one that chooses the box (or if my Son does, then it’s even better luck, which is weird).
It doesn’t work if someone else chooses the package for me.
Tumblr media
I wanted basically anyone other than Apple because red and black don’t appeal to me.
I wanted Blueberry most.
I got Apple.
She’s very cute. I am not unhappy about this. I wouldn’t have bought it at all if I actively disliked any of them.
Tumblr media
She came with a packet of extra hands, a little dress up card, a sticker sheet with her outfit pieces, a promo card with a QR code, instructions, her outfit, and herself.
Tumblr media
The box says they’re hand painted, but that’s certainly at least a stencil. Maybe airbrushed by hand with masks.
She is strung with narrow elastic and has tiny little S hooks in her wrists and ankles.
Tumblr media
The instructions say their hats come off but either Apple’s doesn’t or I just haven’t figured it out,  yet.
She is TOP HEAVY and her head flops around a bit. To dress her I had to take her whole head and face off.
She has standard BJD articulation plus a torso joint and double joint peanuts in her knees and elbows.
Tumblr media
Her head is 3 parts. 2 hair parts and a face plate, which slides on and off easily from a small retaining plate. Because of the positions of the retaining plate in relation to her eyes, it would be a bit of a pain to modify her to take inset eyes.
Tumblr media
I did have to take her head off to dress her. There are instructions on how to take out the face plate retaining.... thing... to facilitate dressing, but I didn’t bother.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The clothes are all hemmed, but not serged and close with Velcro-like tape closures.
Tumblr media
She comes with 6 alternate right hands and 2 alternate left hands. I have no idea if they all come with the same hand pack or not.
Tumblr media
Swapping the hands isn’t too difficult if you have a tool to help, though it does require a firm pinch-grip so if you have issues with pinch-grip, you may need assistance.
Tumblr media
The alternate hands do all seem to be a little bit smaller than the default.
Tumblr media
She looks concerned...
Now, a warning.
I’ve been seeing quite a few reports of doll and toy shipments coming by boat from China arriving with visible mold in the packaging (Rainbow High dolls, specifically) with people suspecting they’re getting wet in transit or the cargo containers/ships are infested, and this package absolutely REEKED of mold when it arrived.
There was outer plastic, an outer cardboard box, and then the product’s outer box and the stink made it all the way to the product box.
The box is pretty cute, though, and has a picture of my favorite of the dolls on it, so I’ve put it down in the basement bathroom with my Ozone destinker device to see if I can get rid of that bad smell so that I can keep the box to keep all of her things in together.
Tumblr media
We’ll see how that goes.

Top 5 Hobbies for a Kawaii Lifestyle
Originally posted to www.onlyfunthings.org on January 11, 2019
Tumblr media
Ciao lovelies! Today here’s 5 “Kawaii Lifestyle” Hobbies!
Now before I begin, I want to say that these hobbies are NOT the only hobbies that can be included in a “Kawaii Lifestyle”! You could do anything for hobbies and still lead a kawaii life. These are just some hobbies that may be considered “Kawaii” traditionally/stereotypically.
So now, let’s get into this super cute hobby list!
#1- Toy Collecting! Many Kawaii Lifestylers that I know of, myself included, collect toys! Some collect vintage toys, some collect modern and some collect both! Toy collecting can be very fun for many reasons. For one, if you have a more childish nature/if you’re an age regressor, you can play with the toys! For two, your toy collection can make great kawaii décor! Toys come in all shapes and colors and sizes, so you can carefully select what you want to display! Some Kawaii toys to collect that I recommend: Num-Noms!
As well as: Calico Critters (also known as Sylvanian Families), Shopkins Lil Secrets (Which are a lot like old school Polly Pockets), Squishies, Molang figures, Monster High Minis….ect!
And going right along with toy collecting is…
#2- Toy Photography / Doll Photography! Another super fun and “kawaii” hobby is toy photography! Toys and dolls can be easier photo subjects (sometimes) than humans in my opinion because you can pose them exactly how you imagine, and you can take many shots while they hold the same pose! There are many highly poseable kawaii dolls like Monster High, Ever After High, Made-To-Move Barbie, and even BJD!
#3- Crafting/DIY! A big part of Kawaii subculture which isn’t really talked about enough in my opinion is the amount of crafty kawaii lifestylers! I’ve seen so many crafty kawaii lifestylers who make their own clothes, jewelry, accessories, décor… but yet I don’t see much discussion about it, and it can be hard to find good craft tutorials online for that specific niche! But crafty-ness is a big part of kawaii culture! I’ve even recently discovered a good place to get some kawaii stickers and beads for cute resin and jewelry projects, Blippo.com ! Blippo has many very kawaii items for pretty cheaply, just the other night I ordered a BUNCH of stuff for under $12 and free shipping, as well as a free mystery welcome gift! (my full review of Blippo is coming soonish, my orders are still in post). Another great place to find kawaii craft supplies is Aliexpress using search terms like “Kawaii Cabochon” and others like that. Just remember that Aliexpress is similar to Amazon/Ebay and you should always check the reviews before buying anything! (Note- this post was not sponsored by either of these sites, this is just my own opinion).
#4- Baking! Baking can be so much fun, and you don’t even need to make things from scratch to have a good time! Want to know a secret? Some of the best cakes I’ve ever made were with a modified box mix! One of my best tips is: “To make a boxed cake mix really amazing, follow the directions on the box EXCEPT: add 1 more egg than what it calls for, instead of using oil use melted butter (and double the amount), instead of water use milk!” This tip I found on Pinterest, and I’ve used it several times to make some of the best cakes and cupcakes I’ve ever made! ….So I bet you’re wondering how this hobby is particularly “kawaii”? Well, the decorating of course! Decorating cakes, cupcakes, cookies and more is one of the best parts of baking! You can make the baked good as kawaii as you want!
#5- Journaling! I know I mentioned this briefly in Wednesday’s post, but let’s talk quickly about how to make this kawaii. Again, you can use sites like Blippo.com to find cute stickers, washi tape, pens and pencils! You can also doodle in your journal and draw cute things like flowers, animals, and chibis! You can also press flowers in a journal for extra cute-ness.
What do you think of our suggestions? What do you consider to be “kawaii” hobbies? Let us know in the comments!
Remember to Stay Awesome and Love Yourself!

This little dude is only 15cm tall, and he got the full spa treatment. He received a faceup, body blushing, and even some modded hair.
He is a Granado 15Ascent Ninth without inset eyes. I also sculpted his hair directly onto the head as it is a solid piece (the head attaches to the body through a peg) with apoxie sculpt.
Have some wip pictures just to show how tiny he is!

It's bleak to see m00nlight j3wel still promoting blue plxy when there's compelling evidence that their "designs" are just modified free BJD files. People pop off about recasts, but there's not nearly as much callout for 3D 'artists' out here modding downloadables selling them as original.

Good news: The pile of Fairyland hands I bought from what Denver Doll had in stock arrived today.
Bad news: None of the 4 sets of natural skin hands fit Naoko or Keigo.

Now I have several dolls in process, two of them are Vladimir and Godfrey from the Curse of Strahd. There isn't much information about these knights in canon, so most of it is my headcanon. At the moment, Vladimir's base is completely assembled, and Godfrey has a body, and his heads are to be delivered in a while. For Vladimir, I took the body of 傲灵师 75 in tan and the heads of Hyuka from the author C.yaoo. For Godfrey - the body of 傲灵师 70 in white and the heads of Pray from the same author. Each of the knights will have two versions: living and dead. To do this, I took two heads for each knight. One head of each of them will be modified in the "zombie" style. Also, Vladimir's second head will be modified according to my headcanons (I think he has an aquiline nose lol) Vladimir already has a wig and I did the eyes for both the dead and living versions. His clothes will be ready in about a month. The most difficult and time-consuming part is his armor. The earliest it may be ready is about six months. For Godfrey, I made the eyes (I headcanon that he's an albino lol) and started weaving the chain mail. Overall, there is a lot of work, and the knights will not be ready soon. But I really want to talk about this, because my friends who are into BJD do not play DnD, and my friends who play DnD are not interested in these characters.

@inkyquince ’s post about Harper being obsessed with dolls, their asylum being their doll house, and PC being their favorite doll… rotating it in my mind so much. (hope it’s alright to tag you as credit, if not I can take the tag down)
Edit: AND @swpdz000’s comic about it!! Beautiful art, can’t believe I neglected to tag the first time around. Apologies 🥲
( MDNI, No Age in Bio DNI )
Because with all of Harper’s… other tendencies, you can’t convince me Harper wouldn’t enjoy fully doll-ifying PC… using hypnosis to make your brain slip away, and drugs to calm your muscles… playing dress up with you but mostly leaving you undressed, bc,,, Harper,,,
I imagine most of Harper’s doll collection is vintage, antique, or elegant bjds, that they like to look at and care for (while the dolls they actually play with, and often break, are asylum patients), but maybe they’d also be interested in making a ‘Barbie’ out of their PC… bimboifying, himboifying, themboifying PC, modifying your body with surgeries and hormones…

The comparison between bjd collectors and designer purse collectors has always made alotta sense to me, especially in regards to fakes. But what I NEVER understood was the way anti artists use that comparison and rework it into their anti artist arguments.
We as bjd collectors will compare the two and say that collecting bjds, just like collecting designer bags, is a hobby that requires saving up funds, hunting for bargains, buying from the source, researching reputable resellers and dealers, modifying, refurbishing, and building up communities and relationships with other people involved in our luxury hobby
But anti artists will compare the two and almost only focus on the looks! They'll state that they would never want to own a minifee Chloe when they can have a finimee Zoey just like they would never want to own a Prada when they can have a Nada! And it's like, fine, if you don't want to buy the doll you want then werk mama. But at least try to be more sane about it like the Nada owner is!!
I've see girlies go on paragraph after paragraph rants about how happy they are with their "minifee" and how it's (allegedly) just as good as a Fairyland minifee and how they're doing better than us because their "minfee" didn't cost an arm and a leg. And it's honestly concerning in a sick way. Like watching someone struggle (and fail) to not throw up
You think the Nada purse owners are doing that!? NO!!!!! The Nada owners are being just as shady, sneaky, snake like, and silly as the anti artists girlies, but at least the fake purse owners haven't convinced themselves that they ACTUALLY own the designer bags they NEVER paid for. You talk to anyone in the rbjd and ask them to name what type of dolls they own and those clowns actually have the AUDACITY to name off companies and sculpts!
Makes me shake in my heels every time I see it!
Like no mama. You know that you didn't buy a minifee Chloe because minifee Chloe is ONLY produced by Fairyland and Chloe was ONLY sculpted by one of their employees getting their FL paycheck. Why don't you call it New Sexy Minifee SD Chloe Dollfie Fairyland 1/4 Cute Girl Bjd just like how you bought it huh?? Oh right! Cuz to you long term lala land residents an rbjd and a bjd is 200% the exact same thing in every regard except price
Honestly. Anti artists either really need to take a page outta the bootleg purse girl playbook OR they need an 80cc dose of reality

My plush and BJD collection Tour
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t have a plush problem >_>. My first Bjd is a msd dollzone, Lucien. Theda is another dollzone (she is missing a finger :( ). Kalix Sd17 Dream of Doll. His name is Alvar. The green fairy is named Absinthe. I’m not sure what brand she is. I bought her from a friend. Last is a Mod. Grey Kalix head, modified, with tan Dream of Doll body. I reall need to make him new clothes.
I stopped collecting Bjds a long time ago. I just found out that Dream of Doll closed business in 2008. While browsing online, I’ve seen people who cosplayed my Kalix and Black Luke doll. I thought that was pretty cool.
