At this point, it's hard to tell if people like this are profoundly stupid, extremely lazy, deeply antisemitic (while trying to pretend they're not), or a combination of all three. 🙄
Since we're here, and this bozo wants examples of Antisemitism from the Left because they can't be arsed to do any research for themselves, here are some examples since the October 7th attack:
A Spike in Antisemitic Hate Crimes in London since the October 7th attack
Rise in Antisemitism in New York City
A man punching a woman for possibly being Jewish
Free Palestine users harassing a 97 year old Jewish Holocaust Survivor on TikTok (as well as bullying other Jews on social media)
Pro-Palestine protestors in Toronto attacking Jews
Threats to kill and rape Jewish students at Cornell University
Paris Subway Passengers screaming "Fuck The Jews......We are Nazis and Proud"
Twitter/X screenshots of Antisemitism from the Left
Leftist Tumblr users coming onto an Israeli LGBT woman's blog telling her "she deserves to die" (and other vile comments)
London Holocaust Library being defaced with Pro-Palestine slogans, and a Jewish Cemetery being defaced with a Nazi swastika and the ceremonial hall being set on fire
Bomb threats and attacks on Jewish synagogues
More reported cases of antisemitism
The latest cases of antisemitism (as of this week)
Jewish Students Assaulted (and Jewish Student Center Vandalized)
MSNBC calling out the rise in antisemitism on college campuses
Multiple attacks on Jews where people were either screaming "Kill the Jews" or "Gas the Jews" or defacing Holocaust memorials and other vile antisemitic acts
The infamous video of University Presidents who couldn't answer a simple "yes or no" question about whether calling for the genocide of Jews constitutes bullying and harassment
I could list other examples and links I have on file of Antisemitism from the Left (and I'm sure others can highlight examples I either didn't cover or might not know about), but I've made my point: If whenmagicfilledtheair actually gave a crap about this, they would have put in the work to look up these cases up for themselves. They are willfully turning a blind eye because it's convenient for them to do so.
whenmagicfilledtheair is antisemitic and doesn't want to own up to that. This also applies to others on the Left right now who are being downright sociopathic in their treatment of Jews.

Laverne Cox: You cannot make trans people not exist!
Tumblr media
Transgender actress and activist Laverne Cox just met with MSNBC’s Morning Joe and talked about the transgender struggle in the US.
Like so many trans people Laverne Cox is exhausted by all the attacks on the community.
youtube
She says:
“There's just a lot going on. what really has called me of course is this latest bill from Oklahoma that would ban gender care till the age of 26.
For years we've been hearing from anti-trans pundits and politicians that this is about protecting children. But this Oklahoma law reveals it's never been about the children. It's always been about scapegoating trans people, stigmatizing us, criminalizing us, and making us not exist.
We have anti-trans pundits and politicians on television every single day saying horrible things about trans people, on the internet saying horrible things about trans people, things that lead to bomb threats at the Boston Children’s Hospital. Chaya Raichik, the founder of  Libs of TikTok took credit for that bomb threat. And she boasted proudly on Tucker Carlson she is communicating with Ron Desantis’ administration and her that work, her anti-trans propaganda, led directly to the Don't Say Gay bill.
So the way we talk about trans people and trans people in the media has an effect on these policies. A lot of the ways in which we are  seeing trans people talked about on the internet and in the news, those exact ways are finding -- that language is finding its way to legislation.
So I wanted to come on today for all those people who have the best of intentions and want to support trans people, don't know the right language, don’t how to talk about it or are scared to say the wrong thing. We need the right language to combat this. Anti-trans folks have been setting the agenda and how we talk about this, and we need to take back the narrative, and we can do it right away.”
To the anti-trans activists she says that what parents of transgender kids do for their children is none of their business. What adult trans people do is none of their business. This is about freedom and bodily autonomy.
The anti-trans activists and politicians objectify and dehumanize, Cox says, making trans people not look like real people. “I exist,” she says. “I am not a question.” Trans people have always existed.
The complete interview is embedded above or you can watch it on YouTube.

One of Trump's defining characteristics is his absolute lack of loyalty to his surrogates. He is spring-loaded to betray anyone who supports him once they are no longer useful to him.
The same can be said for Xitter edgelord Elon Musk, a paranoid bully who demands absolute loyalty from others but does not offer the same in return. His latest victim: former Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibbi.
As you'll recall, Musk invited Taibbi last year to examine selected internal correspondence between members of Twitter's policy team. Musk's goal was to show that Twitter had a cozy relationship with the Democratic Party and censored conservative Twitter users' posts at the party's request. Taibbi (and other journalists Musk corralled for his project) happily obliged by releasing selected documents in a series of tweets. (In April 2023, MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan interviewed Taibbi and forced him to concede that he'd made "multiple, unacknowledged, and glaring mistakes in his Twitter Files reporting.")
Taibbi expected that Musk would treat him well after collaborating on the Twitter Files project, but it appears that the relationship soured. Yesterday, Taibbi posted the following text message exchange he had with Musk in April:
"Elon, am I being shadowbanned?" wrote Taibbi, who'd noticed a huge dropoff in attention to his tweets.
"We went on lockdown after discovering that Substack had stolen a massive amount of our data to prepopulate their Twitter rip-off," wrote Musk. (Taibbi publishes a popular newsletter on Substack). "Looks like there is still a blanket search ban. Should be fixed by tomorrow. Going forward, tweets with Substack will not appear in For You unless it is paid advertising, just like FB/Insta/etc. They will appear in 'Following'."
The next day, an attention-starved Taibbi played his loyalty card: "Elon, I've repeatedly declined to criticize you and have nothing to do with your beef with Substack. Is there a reason why I'm being put in the middle of things? This really seems crazy."
Minutes later, Musk replied, "You are dead to me. Please get off Twitter and just stay on Substack."
"This is about the Substack thing? Seriously?" asked Taibbi. But since Taibbi was dead to Musk, he received no answer.
tl;dr: "'I never thought Musk would eat MY face,' sobs journalist who voted for the Musk Eating People's Faces Party."

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell on Wednesday mocked Donald Trump’s search for a new lawyer, saying the former president has unwittingly found himself “in agreement” with famed British playwright William Shakespeare.
“Donald Trump doesn’t know that of course, because Donald Trump is the most ignorant, least educated man in the history of the American presidency, including all of those presidents who didn’t go to college and were self-educated,” said O’Donnell.
The “Last Word” anchor pointed to the legendary line from the Bard’s “Henry VI” in which character Dick The Butcher says, “The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers.”
“In that play, Shakespeare was actually making the point that a cruel ruler cannot afford to have lawyers getting in his way. Shakespeare very much wanted his audience on the side of the lawyers,” noted O’Donnell.
Trump was now firmly “on the side of Dick The Butcher” as he appeared to give up on the legal team “who helped him get hit with an $83.3 million verdict in the E. Jean Carroll case last week,” O’Donnell said. Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that he is “in the process […] of interviewing various law firms to represent me in an appeal,” O’Donnell added.

Matty Healy exposed the dark side of the Taylor Swift parasocial fantasy
The responses to Taylor Swift's latest breakup highlight a toxic cultural phenomenon.
Tumblr media
Karma may be your boyfriend, but Taylor Swift is not your best friend.Chelsea Stahl / MSNBC; Getty Images
June 6, 2023, 5:29 PM EDT
By Patricia Grisafi
It’s a bummer when your best friend starts dating an apparent dirtbag. God, you think, what does she see in him? He looks like he smells of stale coffee and cigarettes. He looks like a hipster stork. You’ve heard him brag about how he watches humiliation porn. And don’t forget the racism and antisemitism.
Except Taylor Swift is not your best friend.
I don’t know what prompted the breakup, but I doubt it was a tearful Swiftie on TikTok.
When news broke this week that Swift and The 1975 lead singer Matty Healy had ended their brief relationship, social media celebrated in a way that was notable — and a little deranged. (And immediately started speculating about her next fling.) Just hop on Twitter and read the comments about how Swift had really heard her fans and tossed that loser in the trash. I don’t know what prompted the breakup, but I doubt it was a tearful Swiftie on TikTok. Still, imagine feeling like you have that kind of influence over a person you’ve never interacted with. Or that kind of personal investment.
Swift is — in some ways — an unusually private celebrity. It feels like her every move is carefully choreographed. We hardly ever see her messy, incoherent, or intentionally challenging. But fans feel like they know Swift because she writes prolifically about romantic relationships. It’s hardly novel, a musician writing about love and loss. Still, fans pore over these songs. They find Easter eggs in the lyrics, do complex analysis aligning certain ex-boyfriends with specific details. And because language is subjective and Swift is arguably both elusive and slyly encouraging of these readings, the meanings are ever-shifting. Depending on who you ask, she is everything from an Aryan pinup girl to a queer icon. In short, she is the perfect parasocial fantasy subject.
The term “parasocial interaction” has been around since sociologists Donald Horton and Richard Wohl theorized on the phenomenon in the 1950s. A parasocial interaction refers to a relationship in which a consumer comes to believe that media personalities are their intimate friends and that an emotional connection is shared. The phrase has become more popular recently with the rise of pop culture super fans, or stans. These fans can become incredibly invested in their favorite celebrity’s real-life relationships, and devastated if those relationships implode.
See, for example, when comedian John Mulaney separated from his wife Anna Marie Tendler in May of 2020 and began dating actor Olivia Munn. While celebrity relationships have always been fodder for gossip and people are naturally curious about their favorite stars (this writer included), public response regarding the Mulaney situation was noteworthy. Critics suggested that this was because Mulaney’s public persona made it seem like he was your buddy, your pal, a friend you could relate to. And he made his personal life part of his public persona by integrating details about his wife and French bulldog Petunia into his comedy routine. When he violated the parasocial social contract by not living up to that fantasy, things fell apart. It’s similar with Swift — particularly, this situation with Healy.
Swift stepping out with Healy disrupted fan notions of her and the values they believe she holds dear. She’s dating a guy who makes racist remarks? Who unrepentantly laughs about violently objectifying women? Is this who you are, Taylor? And if this is who you are, who am I?
Things got so intense that a group of Swifties circulated an open letter telling other fans to #SpeakUpNow.
Things got so intense that a group of Swifties circulated an open letter telling other fans to #SpeakUpNow and condemn the relationship: “He has been involved in acts and controversies that deeply trouble us,” the letter says. “We urge you to reflect on the impact of your own and your associates’ behavior and engage in genuine self-reflection.”
Rapper Ice Spice, who Healy called a “chubby Chinese lady” on a podcast, was brought in to share the stage with Swift in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Some speculated this act was a professional olive branch, others an empty, performative gesture to both Ice Spice and fans who were disturbed by Healy’s original remarks (he has since offered both an apology and a non-apology for the comments).
Poets talk a lot about how the speaker of the poem is not the writer of the poem. You’ve got to put distance between them. That’s healthy for artists and fans. You don’t know anything about Taylor Swift except what she carefully curates and puts out into the world. Her songs may speak to you, but she directly is not. Proclamation of ownership over a stranger and her love life, the fantasy that our whispers reach Swift’s ears and she heeds our pleas, is problematic.
Parasocial relationships can show the beauty of human emotion, our capacity for empathy, and our ever-expanding desire to connect. On the darker side, they reveal our desire for control, our capacity for cruelty, and our instincts to possess. If the parasocial fantasy is punctured, you might have to make an ethical choice that forces you to confront the dissolution of that illusion — and, more importantly, yourself and what you’re willing to accept.
ts1989fanatic: in some ways the last month or so on SM has been far worse and much more divisive than this🐍🐍🐍🐍 in 2016. There are times when I don’t recognize our fandom anymore.
I honestly don’t know if it’s the rise of TikTok as a preeminent SM platform or just a general increase in SM usage but I do know it’s become far more toxic than it was just a few short years ago.
