/// I headcanon that often when Rocket interacts with people he is projecting a persona, that tough, gritty, sarcastic, kinda mean guy you hear that is him more or less acting up. He hides under a shell of this version of himself that he wants people to see so they don't get too close because he is so vulnerable. He is angry, depressed and hurt under all of what he shows and I think the first time you really see him shed that facade is when they are on Yondu's ship discussing the plan to stop Ronan. You hear Rocket say, "but Quill, stopping Ronan... it's impossible. You're asking us to die."

His voice is soft, it's serious, it's raw. He wants to compromise with Quill here, he's wanting to be a team player but he's expressing he's scared and that even if he does care, he doesn't foresee a way to do what is being asked.

This is Rocket unfiltered.

No jokes, nothing cruel, no theatrics, not acting tough.

These moments are rare overall, mostly come through when he's at his lowest points but I want to highlight he's a multi faceted character that is more than just an asshole. Other times we've gotten to see Rocket unfiltered is when Groot was about to die "Why are you doing this?!", with Yondu (several moments), talking to Thor in the pod, his moment of silence with Nebula, during their last meeting in vol 3, and the clip of Rocket leading the new Guardians. ///

Today is the day of the funeral so I won't be on as much...

Below are some pictures I took at the wake yesterday (1/2/2024) for anyone who is curious...

He was a veteran, loving father/grandfather/Great grandfather, and above all else... He gave out three peppermints to people with a smile on his face and goodness in his heart ❤️

Yes, my grandfather is... Was a veteran. He will get a veterans funeral today with the gun salute and all.

Not every veteran gets this privilege and it is sad 😭

My children even started to cry when they realized he was gone... (Until everyone showed up then it was like they were on sugar crack 🤣) but they livened things up for a while till we had to go home... Even the funeral directors appreciated my children's lively attitude.

If you're wondering why he gave out ONLY 3 peppermints well, he was a Christian man who gave out the peppermints as a reference to the Father, the son, and the holy Ghost... With the white representing purity and the red representing his blood. Don't worry, he never pushed his belief on anyone as he believed God was the only judge... and if you believed what you believed then God should judge you for what you believe, if that makes sense. As long as you are a good person then you had no problems with him.

He only wished kindness and good faith for people~ everyone in the community called him "The Candy Man" (in a good way).

And he only gave the candy to adults as he wanted to teach children never to accept candy from strangers, only your parents as the parents are to be responsible for their children.

If you have read this far I appreciate your time and I will try to be on tomorrow (1/4/2024) in the afternoon... I just didn't want y'all to worry and keep you updated without upsetting y'all. It is a sad time for me and my family BUT it is also joyful... He is home and no longer in pain.

Writing is incredible.

It’s fantasy’s made from creativity, yes, but also just writing itself is incredible.

It’s a moment frozen in time.

It’s notes from someone you were once close to before your relationship dissolved.

It’s a reminder of your own mental state however long ago.

It’s a memory you would have otherwise forgotten.

My anniversary was a few days ago. 13 years together, 2 years married, and a lifetime ahead. We read through our wedding notes. There were messages from my parents (both of who I have since gone no contact/limited contact in the past year) and a friend who was one of my bridesmaids and very close to me at the time (our friendship took a very toxic turn and we ended up cutting ties 4 months later)

But in those notes, they loved us, and we loved them. They wished us happiness and I don’t doubt they meant it. I’m glad they were there, in those moments, during a good part of our relationship. I’m glad that I have that memory of them. I wouldn’t have it if writing did not exist in our society.

Im so excited to lean into the avatar community but im ngl Im really scared by the amount of art theft and AI art Ive seen around. It makes me really anxious about talking to anyone. uuuuuuuuuuugh. I wanna draw my blue people without being scared of people stealing them in so many different ways... I would drop the fandom completely if I went through what some people have and thats really scary. Seeing someone with such a passion for the world and their characters not be excited to attempt to draw them or find someone else with equal passion to draw them is really sad. Ive seen so many amazing genuine artists. Its so disheartening to be a victim of art theft in any format and I hope its something that fades quickly.

Time for another subtle cue analysis from me!

Today's topic is Rocket's reactions to Gamora vs Peter in Vol 2 after they crash the ship on Berhert.

When Gamora is berating them for getting the ship wrecked, Peter wasn't taking the talk seriously and being boisterous, when it pans to Rocket, who Peter basically blames it entirely on, this is the first shot we get about how he felt when Gamora was yelling at them.

He's looking pensive, receptive, like "yeah, I guess I screwed up." he's open to the criticism, (and yes, it is fair he did set off the events of the space chase, but I think he was legitimately confident he could get them out of there unharmed without Peter's interference) but as soon as Quill tries to place all blame on him for the crash...

He's being antagonized, like 'that's how you wanna play?' And he gets defensive.

When they are leaving he looks at Peter and bares his teeth a bit, because he's still pissed at him, for blaming him for everything and calling him names.

At this point in his arc he's not sure if he belongs to the team, it seemed like a good idea when they just saved Xandar but now it's been a couple months and the high of being heroes together has worn thin and he is questioning if this is right for him. He's glaring at him side-eye style too. This causes Peter to turn to say something.

When he says, "Hope Daddy isn't as big a dick as you, orphan-boy," he is literally just saying this to be hurtful because he's been festering on this anger since the day before-- but if you watch closely you can see he's really, really just upset, and now Peter and the others are leaving him behind to do all the work on the ship, taking care of Groot and guarding their prisoner Nebula.

He is very conflicted and the main reason he's sticking it out is for Groot's sake. He remains pissed off until the encounter with Yondu because this argument with Peter never gets resolved. He has this fear that being himself, flaws included will make people hate him and Peter even drives that stake further in him with the last thing he says before leaving. "What is your goal here? To get everybody to hate you? Cuz it's working."

There's that affirmation.

Random Enmu HCs

As a human he used to have 3 beauty marks under each eye in place of where the marks on his cheeks are now.

He used to wear glasses. He didn’t need them but wore them to give him a more convincing doctor-y appearance.

I picture him as looking slightly unhealthy as a human. A little too skinny, a waxy, washed out look to his complexion and perpetual dark circles. His hair is sort of lank from using too much pomade to keep it in place.

He cleans up quite nicely as a demon but definitely still has a kind of rat quality to him

Though he doesn’t have empathy for people, he has a fondness for cats. He’s never had a pet one though due to his lifestyle.

He’s not at all picky with his prey but wealthy types are always a bonus because he can root through their belongings after and take anything valuable for himself to sell later

A demon’s appearance often seems to reference their human life in some way. That being said, I have a theory as to why his hand is like that. I think it’s likely that it was all but severed when Muzan tried to eat him for some reason and as a demon he can detach and reattach it at will

I swear Raven from the Teen Titans cartoon always had such nice legs and probably one of the first girls I was horny for as a kid. It all started with the episode where the team thought they were chasing Beast Boy but it turned out to be an alien.

I kept staring at her legs whenever they showed them being tackled and licked by that dog. I was also genuinely worried my parents would catch me in the act and skipped it when it showed up on TV.
