Mutant AU Malec

(Think Marvel/X-Men, but we don't have to slavishly follow their world's canon)

Alec and his siblings are mutants and teachers/caretakers, overseeing the care and education of young mutants that go to their school. While times have softened the general public to mutants, there are still bigots and prejudice abound. So when the school has to move to a new city/or disctrict, Alec, Izzy and Jace decide to check out the neighborhood to find out if there are possible future hangout spots for the kids.

When they find the Pandemonium Cafe, they mostly just want a cup of coffee. But when one of the customers at a table across from them finds out they are mutants and demands from the cafe's staff to kick them out -(nothing the siblings aren't used to. They won't even hold a grudge against the cafe's staff, not their fault people are shitty), - the incredibly handsome and gorgeous and cute -(so Alec has eyes; he can appreciate another man's beauty, back off Izzy, I'm not asking him for a date right off the bat!!!) - waiter/barista/owner, takes the guy by his lapels, and drags him out. Then he apologizes to the three for the inconvenience and gives them free dessert for having had to endure the asshole.

The cafe becomes the obvious hangout place for the school, both the kids and teachers. And with the help of his students and collueges, Alec eventually even manages to ask Magnus out on that date.

I was talking to a fellow Kendratello shipper about how Kendra totally could’ve met the turtles as a kid since her and April knew each other as kids. And the idea of a child Kendra following lil April into the sewers is hilarious because she just appears out of nowhere to be a menace. Splinter doesn’t know how these children keep appearing in the sewers and why this particular one keeps bullying lil purple (although he does suspect she has a crush).

Sibling Showdown!!!

This showdown consists of 64 sibling sets facing off against each other, as well as a few one-off polls of sets who didn’t make the actual bracket but who I wanted to include in some capacity.  Polls will last a week.  Round One of section A will go live on April 16, with section B going live the day after, section C the day after that, and section D the day after that.

Propaganda is allowed!  I just ask that it be kept positive.  Argue for your faves instead of against someone else’s.  Every sibling set who made it in the showdown is there because someone wanted them to be, so keep it kind.

Will the winners be the siblings that love each other the most?  That are most capable of killing other sibling groups with their bare hands?  That have the most sibling swag?  It’s up to you to decide!  You get to choose the manner and parameters you judge each sibling set for.

Kendra asks you to test out an app for her. Turns out, that app was not hers to let you test. And now you've stumbled into the groupchat of four vigilante, mutant turtles and consequently, their lives.

But seeing as you had just gotten out of a toxic friend group, you were luckily in dire need of a new one! So fun, how these things turn out for the better.

Your first day of Junior Year - yippee - and you started it like any other:

Getting work done, which consisted of the same icebreaker papers like any other classroom, doodling random scribbles in your sketchbook till the clock hit next hour, and passing between hours by blasting sped up tiktok songs through your earbuds because fuck talking to people irl.

Don't get me wrong, you weren't an outcast or anything. Sure, you had interests the popular kids might not have been into (take your embarassing and reawakened FnaF phase last year-) but you were widely liked, if not, then not necessarily disliked, by most of the people in your classes.

This was kind of a given, as you've had school with a good handful of these kids in your previous years.

Take Kendra and her little crew, for example. Kendra, Jeremy and Jase had been found in almost every tech class you took as a kid. (Ez school credits you just worked off instruction books) And ignoring their incessant bickerings amoungst eachother, or the ocassional cocky and narcissisticly snide remarks they'd give you if you asked them for help - they actually quite liked you.

Liked you is a nice way of saying you were an easy target for spreading havoc that wouldn't be traced back to them.

Did you know this? No. But that wasn't your fault, you're just a little optimistic about their underlying evilness that they're surprisingly so good at hiding from faculty.

"Hey, ___!" she would coo at you, "our club is entering an app contest, and we need some people to test it out. Can't make any reviews ourselves since they'd call us out on bias, ya' know?"

- All this to say, you weren't at all suspicious when Kendra walked up to you [Jace in tow and Jeremy nowhere to be seen] with a pleasant smirk amoung her bright blue lips, and a cheery tone to boot.

She put an arm around your shoulder. Her silk jacket was really cold and she smelled like mint, a scent you found common in her clubroom. Maybe it was her signature that she threw across the room every day.

In front of you, she pulled her free hand out with her phone to showcase the club's aforementioned "app".

It seemed to look exceedingly similar to Funstagram.

"Uhh.."

"Don't mention what it looks like, this is just a wip - references were needed for beta," she spoke fast and mumbled, similar to the last three seconds of a commercial as if to help you ignore the blatant copyright.

"Basically what we need you to do is make an account, converse with the... other volunteers we asked, and in about a month or so let me know how it goes!" While talking, she meagerly scrolls through the app, showing you all the functions and controls.

Then, she sends the app's downloadable apk to your phone and explains that your help would be compensated.

You weren't interested until that last part, so you hurriedly downloaded it before the next period started and got to fuckin' work.

Now, when you typed "themaincharacter" as your username you weren't necessarily thinking anything cocky, you just thought you were being funny and a little cute. No one should give it a second thought, right? You'd be fine.

You needed a profile picture.

Fucking perfect.

And now you just had to look at the explo- oh what the fuck?

Okay... randomly added to a gc immediately after creating an account. That's chill.

You felt bad for BootyyyShaker9000. Dude looked like he was about to have an aneurysm.

Or.. I guess typed like it. Yknow.

Okay, so they're kind of funny. But you're still insanely confused and they're responding exponentially fast - you're about to get a headache.

Still, you were curious about them. You want to be cautious and polite, so better not tease them in case they're trigger happy with the kick button.

....You're kind of stupid.

Oh, okay, they're much chiller than you thought! And also just as stupid as you!

Not that you didn't register their names by now, but at least you're getting somewhere with your confusion. You're still a little guilty for the purple one.

... purple guy?!!!?!? DID YOU GET SUCKED INTO FNAF?!?!

The teacher was looking at you, so you decided to put your phone away for the rest of the class.

You could feel your phone vibrate with about 20 more messages before the bell rang.

Okay, sweet. If being accepted into a group of weird nerds online [who had just literally doxxed you] wasn't enough to leave you on edge, the blackmailing threat of some unknown stranger definitely set you in a sturry.

You had a handful of guesses as to who 'April' was. You knew about three April's personally from your school but none seem the type to talk to guys of this... energy. You made a note to be extra cautious tomorrow; already planning your inconspicuous oversized hoodie and baggy sweats to wear tomorrow.

You'll look like a major red flag or depressed college student buttttt at least you'll be harder to spot in a crowd!

You turned your phone off as you headed out the doors of the school. The battery was getting pretty low anyway. Your guess? Kendra totally gave your phone some virus to get dirt or probably destroy the group of guys you'd just become friends with.

You only had a few hours left before the day ended but it was most likely going to be filled with chores and applications to a part time job now that summer's over - so your schedule was pretty low on free time.

Not to mention now you have to wake up early for your second day of school. Early hours was not something you missed in July.

...All this to say, knowing the person you are, you couldn't risk hopping back in the group chat for the rest of the night. You'd hopped on your phone last year and it would take you till 4 AM before you actually went to bed only to wake up two hours later to get dressed for school.

Oh, you missed summer. Oh, you missed lonely, miserable and depressing summer so so bad.

I've been thinking about it lately, but what about the other genius kids in the city? You know, Baxter and the dragons, I vaguely remember you saying the dragons would reappear at some point, and I was wondering if that still going?

I haven't really been talking about the other kids because they're...kids. And shit is really real right now. I know it's a dystopian trope to have teenagers at the forefront of everything, but realistically they'd be so lost. There's army guys in Central Park. A secret scary government organization at work. Yeah, Baxter is a genius child. He's also ten. Kendra might be a tech whiz but she has like 10-12 years of experience. They both think they're hot shit because they're smarter than pretty much everyone they go up against and haven't realized how little they truly know in the grand scheme of things. They don't know how to be cautious. They don't realize how vulnerable they really are. Because the EPF has geniuses too, and they have better funding, collaboration, and purpose. And they've been doing this a lot longer than Kendra has. They would be either swallowed up by the likes of the EPF or steamrolled over.

Also, some of the human characters straight-up aren't in New York anymore. Especially the kids, people with kids would definitely be more likely to flee when this all started. A lot of April's classmates have left the city. I've mentioned that Dale is still in the city and still simping for April, and he's been getting himself in trouble because Dale is a moron. (hopefully he doesn't get shot, but he probably will) I think I decided that Jeremy's family left? So it is just the two dragons right now, and they're from kind of a rich area so there was some law and order going on up there, at least until recently. I don't know why they haven't left; maybe Kendra's dad has some important job he thought he couldn't abandon until it was too late. I don't plan on making them important to the plot or anything; I was just going to have Kendra harass Gale and let him commit bodily harm against her. At most maybe Leo will work with Jace a little bit on infrastructure stuff.

I'm not really sure what I want to do with Baxter. I mean, I do want to include him at some point, let him annoy the hell out of everyone, but I just haven't decided how to bring him in line with doth canon where I try to make sense of this nonsensical TV show.

For one-I've decided that his last name really is Stockman, but he really leans into the stock-boy thing because he's a loser and thinks it's funny.

I also want to make his dad a conspiracy theorist. Like, the guy who yells at people on the sidewalks about the world ending, but like 1% of his predictions are scarily accurate. I'm unsure if this is the same guy as the grocery store owner, maybe his mom remarried but Baxter has little to do with his biodad because 'insert everything' and his stepdad has been the main father figure in his life. Or maybe he's like Jace and just considers the stepdad to be a bonus dad and calls them both his dad. (Kendra's dad and Jace have 100% adopted each other and have an 'awkward but still cute' father-son relationship. The same cannot be said for Kendra and Jace's mom)

Maybe Leo puts Baxter in charge of making propaganda videos on how totally cool mutants are. That sounds like something Leo would try to do and would backfire on him.

Still writing but this has been on my mind;

X-Men / Shadow Hunters crossover where the reader is part mutant part angel/shadow hunter. Powers like Liz from Hellboy because I'm a pyromaniac and want to. X Jace Wayland probably. Would anyone be interested? (I'll write it anyway because I'm obsessing over it)

So I've been watching the show, and my idea would be like Magnus finally revealing a "secret weapon" to help defeat Valentine. Aldertree insists on joining Luke, Izzy, Alec, Jace, Simon and Clary in meeting the secret weapon, to which Magnus gets annoyed anxious because he most definitely would tell the clave, and we all know the clave doesn't like things they dont understand.

Blah blah blah, Magnus introduces them to Professor X and explains that while Charles did teach her some things regarding her mutant side, she spent most of her time learning her Shadowhunter side with Magnus, so she doesnt have complete control of her powers.

Like Liz, her blue flames appear most often when she gets heavily emotional, she can only control them slightly. She can control her normal fire for the most part; they appear if she gets angry or anxious. However, Magnus created a necklace (like Liz's necklace in the movies) to help her reel in her emotions and control it more.

That's the jist of it, I'll save the rest for the story ;)

Edit: a little addition;

she can draw runes that you put on objects with her fire (draws it in the air with her fire and launches it towards her target)

Magnus is the only person who has gotten close enough to not be affected by her fire if it's intentional (like he can touch her as long as she is in control)

She's kind of scared of her blue

She can touch objects while on fire without affecting them as long as she has the intention/control

The fireproof rune does wonders for Jace y'all

Professor X thinks that Aldertree is a funny little creature lol

Professor X and Magnus are like her gay warlock dad and psychic mutant uncle

Not to state the obvious, but Simon is scared shitless of her little vampire dork 🤭

Storm is like her big sister

Logan/Wolverine is like her moody big pain in her ass brother

Professor X took her in as a kid because her Shadowhunter parent was unalived oops by valentine and her mutant parent didnt know about Shadowhunters

^ he got into contact with Magnus when he realized something was off about her and that he met some weird ass dude like twenty years ago that talked about the same things she did
