as soon as chan pushes the duvet off of your legs, you know where this is going. his fingers dart up the skin newly exposed to him in your sleep shorts, until he’s cupping a handful of your inner thigh and inching closer towards you. it’s not hard to be close to you - your childhood twin single is anything but spacious, yet you still jolt in surprise when his breath fans over your neck.
“you look so cute,” chan mumbles. you feel his big nose pressing into your skin and you gasp when he kisses just below your ear, nibbling your lip when he sucks your earlobe into his mouth. “will you let me play with you, baby?”
“c-chan,” you try, but you know your answer. it’s always yes. enthusiastically, actually. “my parents are in the other room, i don’t- i don’t know if i can be quiet, and-“
“i’ll just push the tip in, yeah?” he says, pulling his face away from his neck. the room is darker than usual, only your lamp providing a semblance of some light, but you can see his dark hair and how it’s forming curls after his shower. his eyes are even darker, plush lips in a teasing, almost questioning smirk. he rubs his thumb over your bottom lip. “just the tip, baby. i promise.”
“mm- mm, just the tip?” you question, but your thighs are already falling apart. your toes curl underneath the duvet, and you let him pull your shorts down with two thumbs hooked into the waistband. he groans when he sees you. you know you’re wet, you always are when you’re in bed with chan, and he can’t help but to take his hand from your face and swipe over your clit. you whimper, soft and barely audible, and chan licks his lips.
he’s just in his boxers, expensive vetements ones that always make you feel bad when you’ve gushed all over them after a dry humping session. the light coming from the lamp is a sweet orangey-pink that highlights his abs as he shuffles over and settles between your legs, and you pull your sleep shirt up to expose your tits to him.
“you know just what i like,” chan coos, eyes fixated on your chest. your breasts jiggle with every stuttery breath that comes from your lungs, and you wriggle around impatiently while he pushes his boxers down strong thighs. “my good girl. daddy’s good girl, yeah?”
“yeah! yeah, ‘m daddy’s good girl,” you nod eagerly. he chuckles, and your eyes widen when you see his cock. it’s nowhere near close to the first time you’re taking it, but chan’s big big big, thick and heavy with a pink mushroom tip that has you drooling. “r’ya gonna give it to me now, daddy? i wan’ it.”
“yeah, i’ll give it to you, baby,” he mutters, hand moving to grip his cock. he pumps it a few times, and you see a droplet of precum dribble to christen your fresh childhood bedsheets. he leans over you, cock still in one hand and his bicep tensed next to your head. he’s close like this, letting you see every freckle and mark on his face but before you can even consider kissing him he’s fucking his cockhead into you. your mouth drops into an o, a silent whine, and chan audibly laughs this time. “ah, there you go. there’s that sweet face.”
“i- you’re really hard, daddy,” you say, in lieu of saying anything else. your eyes flutter shut, and his cockhead fucks into you slowly a few times, all two or so inches. your pussy squelches audibly with every movement. chan huffs out a breath, and then you feel him slide another bit of his cock home. your eyes shoot open, blinking rapidly at his smug expression. “daddy! you said- you said just the tip!”
“i think you need more, don’t you?” he asks, eyebrow raised. his lips are curled in a teasing smile, and you try to deny it, try to shake your head and pout but he’s all too knowing. “you need daddy to play with your messy pussy, fuck it open with my cock until i’m breeding that hole. isn’t that right? tell me i’m wrong, baby.”
you whine, legs kicking around in your mini tantrum. chan catches your knee while you’re squirming, pushing it upwards until you’re forced to hold it back yourself. despite your confused expression, he pushes forward, and then his cock is filling you all the way to the base.
“i- ah, daddy?! daddy, it’s-“
“i know, i know,” he croons, leaning down to press his lips against yours. it’s a chaste kiss, almost an apology, but then he’s fucking into you so deep it has your eyes watering. he moves you around, pushes his chest to yours so your nipples rub against his hard pecs. with him this close to you, your clit rubs against his trimmed pubic hair in such a delightful way that you want to cry. “takin’ it so well, that’s my girl.”
“‘s big,” you slur, eyes rolling back into your head with every buck of his hips against yours. it is big, cock stretching your hole to the point it almost hurts - yet you love every second of it. your pussy gushes and makes its own noises of pleasure around your boyfriend’s length, and if it was any other situation he’d laugh at you. he won’t this time, though, not when you’re being his pliant little thing, wet and ready for him to tamper with.
his pace is slow, almost as if he’s using his thighs to bounce into you over and over, and your pussy flutters with it. chan grunts and moans deeply, quiet but still audible with how close he is. you huff little whimpers of your own, drooling all over your pillowcase.
“god, you’re so- this pussy’s so tiny, baby, i don’t know how you fit me in,” chan’s lips part, pants of air leaving his lungs. “messy, tiny fucking cunt. sloppy thing, you’re so perfect for me. my pretty angel and her cute little hole.”
“she likes you too,” you mumble, completely lost in the feeling of his cock inside of you. chan giggles at that, and you whimper when he adjusts you again, pushing both legs upwards to rest on his broad shoulders. he takes a quick glance at you, smiles when he sees you drooling on the pillow in a world of ecstasy, and then he’s fucking you senseless. you almost shriek, a loud gasp leaving you when his cock rams against your cervix, but chan’s hand moves to cover your mouth with godspeed.
“quiet, yeah?” he murmurs, and you nod, eyes watery. his hand stays there, though, his own puffs of air leaving him with every thrust. “good girl. feel daddy’s cock, just take it.”
it’s so easy to get lost in it. the glide of chan’s cock inside of you is hypnotizing, your pussy drenching his shaft with every movement in and out and in again and you can’t help but let out tiny whimpers. you’re embarrassed, letting your boyfriend fuck you open so easily on your childhood bed but god does it feel good. your clit throbs with it, nipples sensitive and pebbled in the air of your bedroom, and you start to fuck yourself back on him without realising. it’s delicious, and you’re getting too loud, babbling and slurring your words.
“i- chan, chan, daddy! daddy, hnng-”
“ah, shit,” he curses, exasperated, and then he’s sliding his dick out of you. you want to whine, throw a tantrum, but his calloused palms come to your hips to flip you over. your face is pressed into the pillow like this, and chan pushes your head down harder for good measure. “you have to be quiet if you want me to keep fucking you.”
“i’ll be quiet,” you try, but your words are muffled in the fabric. you imagine he’s pumping his cock judging by the quiet grunts coming from his parted lips, and the thought of his cockhead leaking in his hand has you huffing in annoyance, pushing your ass backwards to grab his attention.
it works. “oh, fuck,” chan groans, and you feel his hands go to your ass. he grabs a handful of the flesh, kneading like a cat, and you jolt when his thumb rubs over your asshole. his thumb moves downwards, rubbing over the slight gape of your pussy from his cock, but then he’s smacking your ass with his other hand just for good measure. “this ass. fuckin’ delicious, daddy’s pretty girl.”
you whine, turning your head just a tad. “daddy, my pussy. don’t look at my ass, my- my pussy, daddy, i need you!”
“yeah, yeah,” he mumbles, and he’s crowding into your space all of a sudden. his body is firm and muscular on top of yours, and he knocks your thighs apart just a tad until he’s sliding home again with a way too loud noise of approval coming from your wet hole. you push your ass back further, and in any other situation chan wouldn’t allow it but he remains stationary, letting you fuck yourself onto his fat length.
“mm, it’s- daddy, you fuck me so good,” you moan, eyes rolling back into your head. chan’s hands grip at your waist, and he goes from pulling you back onto his cock to pinning you down and making you take it. it’s quick as a flash, the way his pace changes, and you can do nothing more but drool on the pillow and slur out some praises while trying to be quiet.
“slutty pussy,” chan remarks, and you gasp, nodding in agreement. you love when he talks to you like this, and he groans, leaning forward against you more to wrap one strong arm around your neck. it pulls your head back, cutting your airflow just enough to give you that ecstatic light headed feeling. his hips slap against your ass, creating a filthy noise in your childhood bedroom that has you feeling more than just slutty, and you can’t help the gushes of arousal your pussy lets out over it. “mm, daddy’s gonna cum in this pussy. i’m gonna fill it up, yeah? d’ya want that?”
“yeah, yeah! daddy, daddy,” you babble, drool slicking down onto chan’s forearm. it makes him chuckle, the mushroom tip of his cock pressing against your g-spot with every thrust, and you try to wriggle around on your bed to find the perfect position to grind your clit onto the mattress. chan lets you reposition yourself, and when your clit hits the sheets just right you’re sure you could cry. you gush and cry on chan’s cock, your pussy fluttering and sucking him back in on every outwards thrust. he’s going insane with it, groaning and grunting in your ear.
“fuckin- shit, grind your clit, baby,” he commands, and you whine, nodding. you’re almost feral grinding your pussy against the sheets and backwards onto chan’s cock, a high pitched noise leaving your mouth. “cum for daddy. i wanna feel this cunt squeeze my cock before i fill you up, c’mon.”
“ah, ah! ah, daddy, ah- daddy, dad- i’m gonna- hnng, i need-“ you need more, harder, more of his cock ramming into your g-spot and you’ll give him anything he wants.
he knows you too well. “yeah, y-yeah, i’ll fuck you harder, baby,” he mumbles, and his arm tightens around your neck. your teeth bite into your bottom lip painfully, and his cock hits you deep once, twice, forcing your clit down onto the mattress, and then you’re babbling your way through a full body orgasm.
“ah, cum- cumming! cumming, daddy, ‘m cumming,” you wail, toes curling and breath stuttering in your throat. your clit throbs with it, pussy dripping and gushing around your daddy’s big cock, and you try to fuck yourself back on it a little more. it’s like chan’s reading your mind, because he starts to fuck into you a little faster to ride it out.
“oh, baby. that’s a big one, mm?” chan coos, and you nod, breathless, still dizzy with it. he thrusts into you a few more times, hips slapping hard against your ass, and his hand goes to the small of your back to push you down further. you’re splayed on your front, pliant and sated, but your daddy still has to fill you up like he promised. “i got you. i got you, daddy’s gonna cum, baby.”
his hips slow down, like they normally do when he’s close, and you feel his shaft throb and twitch inside of you. he gasps, thrusts stalling completely, and then you feel his cum filling you up, thick and white and flooding your cervix until you feel like there’s no way there’s any left. you sigh through it all, tears biting at your eyes by the time he’s done, rocking your hips back to help him ride his own orgasm out.
“take it, take all of my cum. there we go, good girl,” he’s talking to try and soothe you, hand rubbing down your tired legs as he pulls his soft cock out. you want to move, to turn to kiss him, but chan’s already using his discarded shirt to clean you up between your legs. he’s soft and gentle on your abused pussy, and your daddy’s so sweet that he pulls your sleep shorts back up for you.
“i wan’ cuddle,” you murmur, still on your front. you’re not sure you can move, but chan chuckles, sidling up to you and pulling you to rest against his chest.
“you can cuddle,” he confirms, lips pressing a kiss against your hairline. “ya did so good for me, y’know? my good girl, daddy’s girl.”
you hum, feeling blissful and sweet. he knows exactly what you need afterwards, stroking his fingers up your clothed back. “i love you.”
“i love you too, baby.”

PHASES — LUKE HUGHES
luke hughes x fem!reader
summary: in which luke is pining for the girl he knows he’s destined to be with
notes: 4.3k words. this is a new style of writing for me and i truthfully don’t know about it but it felt right for this fic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luke Hughes knows a lot of things.
he knows hockey. he knows history. and he knows that in this moment, drunk on cheap beer and lip locked with the prettiest girl he’s ever seen, she and he are destined to be together.
but life and love are never simple. drunken hookups between best friends don’t just automatically make them a couple. and no matter how badly he wants to scream that she should be with him, he knows he has to wait it out; give her time to come to the same realization that he did two years ago.
her back digs into the armrest of the battered couch, her legs draped across Luke’s own as his fingertips grip her upper thigh. their faces are drawn together, her hands tangled beautifully in his curls, pulling him closer toward her vodka soaked lips.
“Lukey,” his name rolls off her tongue like a whispered prayer, causing a singular beat to skip in his heart.
“what do you need, doll?”
“you.”
and her singular word is the driving force that brings Luke to his feet, her hand laced with his as he leads her to his bedroom. the people in his apartment cast away from his mind, only one person occupying that space.
her.
surely, Jack can handle the party that he threw, no one would miss Luke.
and that thought is what leads them to his room, their bodies pressed together in mere minutes. the next few hours spent tangled between cotton sheets. his feverish touch making her body shake, and her soft sounds causing an intense sensation of need within him.
hot breath mingles, their lips rarely straying from each others. sweat coated skin sticking together as they christen his bed for the umpteenth time. neither mind clear, they find solace and pleasure with her legs wrapped around his waist and his sloppy thrusts bringing them to the highest points.
and when they call it a night, Luke’s hand slamming the car door shut after she falls into the backseat of an uber, he falls back into the same spot he started the night.
waiting for fate to bring her home to him for the final time.
***
the restaurant feels suffocating, her dress itchy, causing her to wiggle uncomfortably in her chair.
her date doesn’t even seem to notice, rambling on once more about how cool it is that she works for the New Jersey Devils.
“i mean, you must get to be around the players all the time, right? how did you even get that job?” what was this one’s name? Carter? Carson? it started with a C, right?
“i went to University of Michigan. graduated a year early with a degree in sport management, and after working with the hockey team there, i was able to secure a spot working for the Devils.” she smiles, a weak timid thing that barely even reaches her cheeks, “but yeah, i do spend a lot of time around the players. kinda my job to get content of them, ya know?”
maybe-Carter chuckles, nodding his head, “so are you like, friends with any of them?”
‘oh, here we go’ she thinks.
“i went to school with Luke Hughes, he’s kind of my best friend.” it was an instinct really, an involuntary reaction; for a smile to creep across her lips when she talks about Luke, “but i can’t really say much about him or the guys, they’re people too and they deserve their privacy.”
“right, totally respect that,” he nods, his lips falling into a tight line, and she can’t help but notice that they aren’t as pillowy as Luke’s.
his lips don’t nearly look as comforting to kiss. and his curls; they don’t… curl the way Luke’s do. rather he has a head of tighter curls, unlike Luke’s unruly mess of loose curls and waves mingling together. his eyes aren’t the right color either, erring on the side of a blue closer to Jack’s; which makes a shiver run down her spine, discomfort settling within her.
“are you cold?” he asks, catching sight of the goosebumps that spread across her skin. he huffs a condescendingly toned laugh before continuing, “maybe you should’ve brought a jacket, restaurants run cold.”
that was where she drew the line. with his obnoxious attitude combined with his interest, which only peaked when discussing her job, y/n was surprised she lasted as long as she did.
and if the fact that he wasn’t similar enough to her best friend played a small part in her leaving? well, could she really be blamed?
after all, it was Luke’s fault.
it was Luke who made the first move his freshman year of college, both of them tipsy on drinks made by Dylan and his heavy hand with rum. it was Luke who made the sophomore girl fall for him two years ago. it was Luke who drunkenly tells her he loves her as he buries himself inside of her, knowing exactly what to do to tip her over the edge. and it was Luke who has her going on at least five dates a month, trying to force the Devils rookie out of her heart.
or at least, she blames it on Luke; because she couldn’t allow herself to admit that she fell in love with him of her own accord. she can’t allow herself to confess how quickly their drunken hookups turned into something more for her. and she certainly can’t dwell on the fact that she hasn’t put a stop to them. how could she? those are the only moments that she can let herself believe, even for a moment, that she could be his.
because despite how badly she wanted it, she could never be Luke’s. not in the way she wants to be. no matter how hard she tries, she can never find the words to express how much he means to her. how much she loves him.
*
Luke laid on the couch, the springs digging into his back uncomfortably.
“dude, we really need a new couch.” he huffs, “and why am i laying like this? i don’t think people actually lay down in therapy outside of tv shows.”
“shut up, i’m taking notes.” Luke’s eyes drift to his older brother, who occupies the space of the living room chair.
“notes on what? i haven’t even said anything!”
“you don’t need to. i’ve listened to you bitch and moan about y/n for two years, i’m writing what i can remember.” Jack explains, his brows furrowed in focus as his pen scribbles messily across the notepad on his lap.
“why did i let you talk me into this?” Luke rolls his eyes at his brothers antics.
“because you’re pussy-whipped and you’re playing like shit.” Jack looks up from the notepad, straightening his posture and settling his focus on Luke.
“is that a medical diagnosis?” Luke jokes, his brow raising as he chuckles.
“no, that’s brotherly criticism. you get that for free, courtesy of the nine months we each spent in mom’s womb.” Luke cringes at his brothers words, shaking his head.
“don’t talk about mom’s womb.”
“just speak, dude. what’s going on in that curly head of yours?”
Luke sighs, his eyes drifting towards the ceiling. his hands fiddle with the cellphone that lays on his stomach, impatiently waiting for the text that he knows will come through.
it’s 10pm on an off day, he knows she’s got a date tonight. he also knows how her date will end; soon enough she’ll be texting him a long paragraph about how men suck and asking him to remind her why she can’t become a nun.
“well, i told you, i know she and i are meant to be together. i can feel it.” Luke starts, quickly cut off by the familiar grating voice he’s known his entire life.
“yeah, yeah, you’re a simp. move on.”
“has anyone ever told you that you’d make a horrible therapist?” Luke questions, head turning once more toward his brother.
“i can’t say anyone has, no.”
“yeah? well then, i’ll be the first.” he glares, “stick to hockey.”
“just keep talking, Lukey.”
“i think it’s getting harder to wait for her.” Luke confesses, and it feels like a small weight has been lifted off his chest; progress.
“so you wanna move on?” Jack asks, his pen scrawling along the paper again.
“no!” Luke huffs, sitting up on the couch to turn towards his brother, who quickly strikes out whatever he just wrote down, “i’m just saying that- that this whole waiting game is fucking with my head. Phil said i had to wait it out. he told me not to pressure her. practice my patience and let her come to the realization on her own.
“but, what if it goes on too long? she’s always going on dates, what if she meets someone else? what if it takes her ten years to realize what i realized like a month after we met?! what if she gets married before she realizes?”
“too many ‘what if’s’, dude. you’re hurting my brain.” Jack groans, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Luke, already in an emotional spiral, rolls his eyes, “what brain?”
“hey! i’m trying to help you here! don’t insult me!” Jack stands up, notepad falling to the floor and his hands drawing to his hips as he glares at the rookie defenseman.
“well you’re not much help.”
“you want my advice? either keep waiting and playing like shit and making easily avoidable mistakes, or say fuck it to your friends advice and tell her how you feel.”
“i’m going to bed.” Luke grumbles, pushing past the shorter man to go to his room.
“don’t forget, no morning skate tomorrow!” Jack calls out as Luke’s door clicks shut.
as Luke strips down to his boxers, his phone lights up on his bed, vibrating amongst the cotton sheets. and as he sees her name flashing on the screen, butterflies flutter in his core, making him swallow harshly in attempt to stop them.
he doesn’t even get a word out after accepting the call, her voice filtering through the speaker, “men suck.”
“oh yeah?” Luke can’t help but laugh at the repetitive cycle, “tell me more. how do we suck?”
“you just do, okay?” her tone is biting before she takes a sobering breath, “all he wanted to talk about was the team. i could practically see the walls shut down around him once i told him i couldn’t dish out the hot goss on players.”
“i’m sorry, y/n.” he’s not sorry. not even a little.
“remind me why i can’t be a nun?” her voice is distant as she takes the phone away from her ear so that she can unlock her apartment door.
“no tiktok and no sex.” Luke echoes for what feels like the hundredth time.
“right.” she kicks off her shoes, bumping the door shut behind her as her cat darts around between her legs, rubbing against her nylon tights, “you ready for the game tomorrow?”
“yeah.” no.
“good. i’m gonna go eat my weight in ice cream and scroll tiktok. goodnight, Lukey. thanks for the reminder and for listening to me rant.”
“any time. goodnight.”
as Luke lays in bed, he falls asleep with Jack’s advice echoing in his head.
keep waiting and playing like shit and making easily avoidable mistakes, or say fuck it to your friends advice and tell her how you feel.
meanwhile, y/n slumps on her sofa, a pint of ben & jerry’s in her hand as she looks down at the little ball of black fur that’s taken up residence by her feet.
“have you ever been in love, Sir Nightingale?”
the cat blinks back at her, patiently waiting for her attention. which comes in the form of her fingernails scratching lazily under his chin.
“i have.” she continues the one sided conversation, “it fucking sucks. never fall in love.”
***
the game was an absolute shit show.
Luke had taken a shoddy penalty in the first period; for delay of game, out of all things. which lead to a power play goal by the opposing team and leaving the Devils down by two.
it was only about five minutes later that Luke got an assist on a goal of Jack’s, but ultimately, the game still ended six to two, not in the Devils favor. not only did the team get yelled at for their lack of adequate effort, but Luke was singled out for at least two turned over pucks, which lead to opposing team goals.
and to make a bad night even worse, when all was said and done and Luke was finally showered and ready to just go home and wallow in the loss, he left the locker room to find y/n chatting with one of the equipment managers, Ben.
her hair twirled around her finger as she laughed at something Ben said, a red flush on her cheeks. Luke felt deflated, to say the least.
it was always someone else.
never him. never Luke.
he felt overlooked, and perhaps even unnoticed. it was like she never even saw him as an option, only ever the object of her desires when they were both tipsy and horny and already together.
and yet the feeling was still there. settled low within his gut, he still knew; he’s the one for her. he knows. he’s fairly certain that deep down, she knows it too.
is it his age? it’s only a year’s difference, surely it doesn’t matter, right? it was something else. it had to be, but he truly didn’t know what.
“y/n.” his voice carries through the hallway, settling in her ears and catching her attention.
turning towards him with wide doe eyes and parted lips, she smiles, “hey!”
“am i still giving you a ride home?” Luke’s expression is stony, giving nothing of his feelings away. though, he can’t help the way his eyes gravitate to the man behind her, Luke’s blank stare making the man cower just slightly.
and Luke almost felt proud of that. almost.
“actually, i think Ben and i are gonna go for some drinks. i’ll catch up with you tomorrow, yeah?”
his shoulders slump, his posture crumpling the same way his heart did in his chest.
“yeah, see you tomorrow.”
Luke barely gets two steps closer to the arena exit before her voice calls out, stopping him in his tracks. her heels click against the floor as fast as she could move, before she pops up in his vision.
“you played good. a few mistakes are normal, it’s your first full season, the most games you’ve ever played,” her voice is gentle, her eyes peering up at him softly through her wispy lashes, “i’m proud of you. don’t be too hard on yourself, alright?”
her arms wrap around his torso before he can even respond, her face buried in the chest of his suit. and before his heart can reach a normal pace again, before he can wrap his arms around her in return, she’s pulling away.
with a wave of her hand and a small but awe-strikingly beautiful smile playing upon her lips, she’s walking away. back to Ben, who waits for her by the arena exit now.
and once more, Jack’s voice is back inside Luke’s head. driving him absolutely insane as he watches the love of his life walk out of the building, giggling at something another man said.
keep waiting and playing like shit and making easily avoidable mistakes, or say fuck it to your friends advice and tell her how you feel.
*
keep waiting and playing like shit and making easily avoidable mistakes, or say fuck it to your friends advice and tell her how you feel.
tell her how you feel.
tell her how you feel.
tell her how you feel.
“tell her how you feel.” Luke wakes with a startle, his head knocking against his brother’s, who was leaning over him.
Jack curses, hissing in pain as he holds a hand his forehead.
“what the fuck are you doing in my room?” Luke groans, voice groggy as he takes in his surroundings.
“i got up to take a piss and i could hear your phone blowing up all the way from the bathroom,” Jack explains, “shit, you have a bony ass head.”
“it’s called a skull. i know yours doesn’t house anything inside of it, but even i assumed you’d know what it is.”
Jack huffs, rolling his eyes. “ya know what? just for that, i take back my advice. fuck off and die alone, what do i care?”
“why were you giving me advice at-” Luke slides his phone off his nightstand, checking the time, “two in the morning?”
“she’s blowing up your phone.” Jack scowls, “something something men suck something something maybe being a nun is worth the no tiktok?”
Luke feels an odd sense of relief as he looks at his recent texts, finding exactly what Jack had described.
well, without the ‘something something’s.
“pretty sure you were saying her name in your sleep too,” Jack smirks, backing away towards the bedroom door, “tell her how you feel, dickhead. put you both out of your misery so i can get some sleep and not listen to your incessant whining.”
with that, Jack leaves, the wooden door clicking shut in its frame behind him.
reading through the texts, Luke gathers that she and Ben didn’t get very far into the night together, seeing as her messages were still legible, something drunk her could never accomplish.
the thought brings him an unnecessary amount of joy. but then he’s hit with an overwhelming sense of annoyance, remembering he’ll have to go through this process all over again soon.
truthfully, he doesn’t know how much more he can take. he’s not giving up on her, on the contrary, maybe Jack is right. maybe Phil couldn’t give advice for all women and maybe Luke should just stop waiting.
she wasn’t coming to a realization quick enough and honestly, Luke is fucking tired. tired of drunken hookups. tired of listening to her rant about failed dates and sucky guys. tired of being overlooked as an option. tired of his feelings going unnoticed.
the dial tone was ringing in his ear before Luke even realized that he had made a decision, like his hands were working on autopilot. like his heart knew what he would decide before his brain did.
“hey! did i wake you?” her words weren’t slurred, Luke noted. that’s good, she doesn’t even sound tipsy. she’s in a sound state of mind for his confession.
“no,” he shook his head, despite knowing she could see him, “well, yes but no? you didn’t wake me up but Jack did, he could hear my phone buzzing.”
“oh shit, i’m sorry! we can talk tomorrow if you wanna go back to sleep, i’m just about to-”
“i love you,” immediately, Luke is regretting this decision; the silence on the other end of the phone making him bite his lip in anxiety.
“what?” her voice cracks as she giggles, “Luke, are you drunk? did you drink before you went to bed?”
“no,” he groans out, his head dropping back in frustration, “i swear, i haven’t touched any alcohol tonight. just listen to me.”
“i’m always listening to you, Lukey.” her eyes widen as she sits on the edge of her plush bed, “i just don’t understand what you’re saying.”
“i love you,” he repeats, rolling his shoulders in attempt to psych himself back up before he takes a deep breath.
“i’m in love with you. i have been since freshman year. i think that somewhere deep down, you know just as much as i do, that you’re meant to be mine. and i’ve waited two years for you to realize it. i’ve been patient, i’ve held back, i’ve waited on the sidelines while you go out on dates and i’ve listened to you rant about men. and that’s no problem; when i’m done, if you decide you’re still not ready, i’ll continue to wait for you. because even if you’re not mine, i’m yours, y/n. but, i need to get this off my chest and i need you to know that i’m in love with you. my life isn’t complete without yours. and when you’re ready, i’ll be here waiting for you. i’ll always be here. when you’re ready for the drunk hookups to turn into sober love, i’m gonna be right here. because i think that’s our fate. i think that we were destined to find each other and i think we were meant to have this storyline in our love story, and i know that one day you’ll realize it too. you can tell me i’m insane, you can tell me you don’t feel the same, you can even tell me to fuck off, if that’s what you wanna do. i’ll back off, i won’t say another word, but i’ll still be waiting.”
y/n is silent, her hands shaking as she breathes through the tears that roll down her cheeks. in return, Luke is quiet too, patiently waiting for her to digest everything he just confessed. every built up feeling that he just let slip out of him.
“i love you too.” it feels like all the weight she’s been shouldering has been listed off of her with the utterance of those four simple words.
“you do?” he feels like he can’t breathe, like he’s just been knocked against the boards and his lungs forgot how to take in oxygen.
“yes. Luke, why do you think i go on those dates? have you not noticed that almost every guy i go out with resembles you? i didn’t know if you felt the same way, i didn’t know how to tell you how i felt without risking our entire friendship going up in flames. Luke, i’m so fucking in love with you and it hurt. for two years, i’ve reveled in our drunken moments because i thought that was all i’d ever get. i dreaded the day that you would meet someone and tell me it has to stop. i fell for you so hard and it was so scary and i just- i had to try and move on. i had to try and meet someone before ultimately, you did. because i knew that if you told me you met someone, and i was still in love with you? i would never recover from that, Luke. i wouldn’t. and now you’re saying this and i, god i feel so fucking stupidly in love with you. you don’t have to wait anymore, because i realized i love you a long time ago.”
Luke pushes out of his bed, any interest in sleep lost to him. pulling on a hoodie and an abandoned pair of sweatpants from his bedroom floor, he doesn’t even bother telling Jack that he’s leaving.
“god, i need to kiss you.” he slips on his nike slides, his fingers nimbly plucking his keys off the hook by the front door, and as quickly as he could manage, he was out of there.
“you can kiss me tomorrow, Lukey.” she smiles, finally rising from her bed to finish her nightly routine.
that is, until she hears a key turn in her front door. her eyebrows pull together as she wonders out of her room, greeted by sight of a disheveled Luke in her apartment doorway, who looks like he just ran down the stairs to get there.
hanging up the phone, she grins back at the tall boy.
“or i can kiss you now.” a playful smirk pulls at the corner of his lips as he taking wide glides over to her.
his hands find her cheeks, his thumbs wiping gently over the supple, tear stained skin. the apartment is silent, their heartbeats racing as she gazes up at his beautiful eyes.
“or you can kiss me now.” she echoes, her words mumbled and low.
that’s the final straw, the confirmation Luke desperately needed, and finally, he allows his head to dip down. her lips were warm and soft, tasting faintly of mint ice cream, and warmth spreads across his body, starting at his chest and almost blossoming across his body. Luke feels at home.
her hands desperately cling to his hoodie, as though he’ll disappear if she lets go, and his slide back to cup the nape of her neck. she has no desire to pull away, but her lungs spread with fire until she’s forced apart by the need to breathe.
“i love you.” she whispers, eyes closed as she rests her forehead against his own, teeth digging into her bottom lip as she bites back a lovelorn smile.
“i love you, sweet girl.”
“please don’t go back home. spend the night?” she finally opens her eyes, her head tipping back as he straightens up.
a pink hue glows upon his cheeks, and she can’t resist letting the backs of her fingers gently graze over the heated skin.
“not going anywhere, baby. staying right here.” his lips brush against her forehead, leaving a fleeting kiss in their wake and making her heartbeat flutter within her rib cage.
it feels right, the way they go about a new bed time routine. luke’s arms wrapped around her waist as she brushes her teeth, his eyes boring into her reflection. her head on his chest as they fall asleep, his alarm on for them to wake up for morning skate, together.
and if they were holding hands when they walked into the rink, if they were a cheesy couple who kissed before he entered the locker room, if his smile was a bit too wide in the tiktok she filmed for the Devils socials, if she chose the question ‘do you believe in fate?’ solely because of him, could they really be blamed?

𝟎𝟎. 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐆
DISTRICT FOUR
The first thing that had struck you from Abby was her perpetual smell of sea water, as though it’d ooze off her pores at any second, and every whiff, every touch, was a christening of your head, beneath it to rise for a purer soul. Her caress to your cheeks were especially engraved by wrinkled fingertips from ocean exposure and when she’d leave the waves towards the shore of open arms every droplet that slid down her body onto yours was a sacred nature branding, burning itself onto your features until your brain was uncertain whether Abby smelled of sea or sea of her, and you likewise, covered. It was the first thing missing when she came back from her games a victor. Your Abby, scentless. Flowery.
You twist the blonde locks of Abby’s hair between your fingers while she hums impatient. The rose scent of her shampoo fills your nostrils and bleeds anxiety into your chest, quickly brushed off for the continuous motion of braiding, a distracting pattern safe haven. For a moment your lip quirks up, a tease by the tip of your tongue about her Capital perks and otherworldly strawberry scented imported lotions she promised to share and still hid away from you during visits. She would not tell you it was to preserve the same thing from you, the homeliness she’d only find buried deep into your neck, peace she’d never get back as she hoped every night of sleep in your arms awoke nostalgia that’d overpower nightmares of brutal savagery. The Victor’s Village was off limits to a commoner such as yourself but Abby batted her eyelashes and District Four peacekeepers turned a blind eye, or so you both thought.
“I got you something” Abby whispers, pulling away from your grasp as she feels your hands tug the end of her hair into the perfected hairstyle. The blonde leans over the shelving of the house far too big for an orphan in these districts, painted shades of white and blues, hardly decorated by the elite designers assigned, too busy assembling new units in the near invincible districts One and Two, and brings you a small box “It’s your last year at a reaping, so I got it for good luck”
A starfish necklace. You gasp as it lays on your hand delicately before Abby makes the first move of adorning you in it. For the first time since she has been back from her games the blonde takes your face into her hands and presses a kiss onto your lips, so soft it ghosts over them long after she is gone, the missed sensation weighing down your eyelids.
“Do I look pretty?” You twirl around jokingly and Abby can only nod, sucking in her bottom lip between two front teeth “All the odds are in my favor with you, Abs, relax”
When your name is called out during the reaping ceremony all you can feel are the hands of the peacekeepers by your waist, escorting you, and the metal of your starfish by your neck. All you can hear, however, are Abby’s screams.
DISTRICT SEVEN
There is sweat dripping down her forehead onto her eyelids, thick layers coating every inch of skin until it morphed itself a new layer of it, a wet armour. And there’s a moment where the heat and the trees are working together into suffocating her and Ellie thinks she can swing the axe towards herself, spare the wood, and end it on her own terms. Fuck the Capital. Fuck the Hunger Games. Fuck the reaping. Unfortunately, it’s too easy to see through her.
“Ellie” Joel lays a hand on her shoulder and the axe drops on the floor, glaringly close to her own foot “It’s only one more year”
“It’s every fucking year, Joel”
“Yeah, well, that’s someone else’s problem now, all I care about is you staying alive. You just stay alive and don’t be a fucking hero”
When her name is called in front of the Hall of Justice those are the only words going through her mind as to not break the neck of the Capital man in flamboyant clothing that announced her name and stared at her with a toothy grin she mimicked for picturing punching it out his face. But Joel is looking at her. And she knows they win. They win because she will put on a show despite her hatred. Because she doesn’t want Joel to watch her die like he watched Sarah. They always win. She always loses.

home is where you're mine

premise: in nevarro you and din can finally breathe and spend your days christening every surface of your home.
pairing: din djarin x (f)reader
word count: 911
warnings: eighteen+ content, established relationship, riding, unprotected p in v, tiny little taste of possessive!din, domestic life, public-ish encounter, 'etyc' means dirty, 'mesh’la' means beautiful.
note: did i have an absolute panic attack over actually writing in the mando world instead of doing an au? yeah yeah i did, but thanks to my bbys @psychedelic-ink and @pedrito-friskito i got over it and wrote this filth <3.
Tumblr media
The skin on Din’s neck feels as hot as your body does. The sun, having gone down hours ago, did little to cool the warm air—the humidity that’s clinging to your body and making sweat gather at your brow and run down your spine as your breath heaves your chest with your ministrations.
There’s an ache in the heel of your foot that you ignore. That does not deserve a second thought, maneuvering around, or changing of position when this one feels too good.
When Din is letting you take control, letting your fingers move to the only skin visible and hold onto it like a lifeline. Like you’d float away from the building pleasure if you didn’t have something, some kind of contact that wasn’t his gloved hand bunching up your dress at the top of your ass so he can grip and pull you down onto his length. The only helping hand he’s giving.
Since the two of you had made—what you hoped was—a permanent home in Nevarro. Until another bounty called Din away, now giving you a place to safely wait for his return. A cabin big enough for the three of you. A space that wasn’t covered in scrap metal and piles of weapons or debris.
You know, in truth, that you’d live under any conditions if it kept Din on your side. The child on your hip or by your feet.
But this place felt special. Like the three of you could finally take a deep breath and let your guard down for half a second without feeling remorseful over it.
The porch had quickly become Din’s favorite spot to relax. To put his feet up and watch the sky, the terrain—Grogu, as he basked in the daylight and played with his food.
Which is where you found him tonight after the child had drifted to sleep and the two of you were alone. The planet seemingly quiet when it knew the two of you needed it. When you leaned against the doorway and Din held out his hand to you. Pulling you into his lap. A calming silence shared between the two of you as you took in the stars.
A moment that seemed too good to pass up. To not continue to take advantage of the space you had been given to have Din inside of you.
No need to sneak around or find a darkened corner.
It’s as if the two of you needed to break in every surface within the new space. Home.
Your cheek pressed into the wall, a counter, a table. Your fingers leaving indents in the fabrics of seats, beds, and blankets. It was only right that you carry on that same streak in Din’s favorite spot.
“Should we-” he began, the shake of your head cutting him off as your hips rocked against him. As he grew the more your sweet whimpers fell, and your fingers danced along the beskar of his chest plate. “Etyc,” his gloved hand coming down to tap at your ass, making you grin.
It didn’t take long for you to free his cock and position him at your entrance. To get yourself this close from the motion of your hips, the angle making the fabrics of his pants rub against your clit with each gyrate. Each time he bucked up into you just a little harder than the last.
You let out a gasp when the warmth of his glove covers one of your breasts. His fingers pull down the—now—flimsy fabric from your shoulder to reveal it to him. To rub his thumb over your nipple in circles that make your moans grow in octaves.
“Mesh’la,” Din groans.
If this were in the darkness of your room, your roles would be reversed. Your vision cut off from him while he saw you in full. Running his mouth along your body. His teeth nipping at your breast until your body was pushing against him for more, to be filled by him.
And if you asked him to take you to your bed right now, he would. Happily. He’d draw out your orgasm by making you fuck his tongue, pulling away when you were at that precipice only to shove his cock inside your trembling walls. Repeating the actions until you’re begging him to let you come.
You have many nights for history to repeat itself, though.
Right now, you’re so close, and the way Din’s hips are moving in tandem with your own lets you know he is too. That neither of you could move even if you truly wanted to because your pleasure is too much. Coming to that crescendo that makes you see a galaxy behind your eyelids when you can feel him twitch against your clenching walls from reaching your climax together.
The gloved hand at your breast trails up the column of your neck, gripping your chin to bring your forehead to the warmth of his helmet before splaying the palm over your mouth. “The sounds you make when you come are just for me.” He grunts, your hips moving in unison one, two, three more times before you’re both coming. Your moans fall into his hand. Caught and absorbed by the fabric as your body clenches and trembles against him. The deep bravado of the groan he tries to bite back shakes your chest as you lay against him. “Mine,” mixed into the jumble of words he spews breathlessly.

Alexia Putellas x fem!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Hi, I’m Kelley O'Hara, and this is one v one. Today I am joined by former NWSL player who now plays for Barcelona and the USWNT, Y/n Y/l/n!” Kelley does jazzy hands towards you while you smile and wave at one of the many cameras pointed at the two of you.
Both you and Alexia decided to take a trip to the states so you could see all of your friends and family and so Alexia could take a break from all the press who followed her around. You both share an apartment in New York in case you’re ever in the US and, obviously, a house in Spain. Kelley asked if you’d be okay with doing one of the interviews she conducts with Just Women’s Sports, and of course, you said yes. You’ve missed her since the World Cup ended, so who were you to say no? Alexia decided to stay back and rest for a bit while you went.
You’re now seated in front of multiple cameras with a few crew members and beside Kelley. The room you’re in is nice and calm, and the window behind you allows the natural light to peek its way in.
“Now, getting straight into it, I introduced you as Y/n Y/l/n, but soon you won’t have that name,” Kelley smirks with a teasing eyebrow while you blush and fiddle with the ring on your finger. “Seeing as your lover, aka the goat of soccer, aka la reina, aka Alexia Putellas, proposed to you a couple of months ago.”
You laugh at the multiple names the brunette presents your fiancé with. “First of all, Alexia is going to be mad at you for calling it soccer and her la reina. Second, yes, my name will very soon be legally changed.” Kelley starts applauding with a bright smile on her face.
“I can’t believe two of my teammates are going to be married to basically the two best female soccer players ever! Mrs. and Mrs. Putellas, then Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. Mewis.” You nod excitedly, hoping for your wedding to approach sooner.
“I remember when you came up to me and Kristie, explaining to us how we couldn’t talk to our fiancé’s about our game plans.” The defender laughs and nods her head, remembering how offended both of you looked. “Me and Kristie are still mad at you for not trusting us.”
Kelley puts her hands in fake surrender before going on to explain. "Well, a couple of us were thinking about how you two are with the enemy, and one of us just had to make sure.”
“A couple of you?” You shout in disbelief, making her look at the camera with a worried face. “Nope, cut the cameras. Interview is off!” You joke as you make it look like you’re taking off your mic. The crew chuckles at your guy’s antics and shakes their heads.
After several minutes of talking about why you moved to Barca and how you’ve been over there, you are now down to the last discussion.
“As we all know, you’re with Alexia Putellas, as previously mentioned. A lot of fans want to know how the it couple met.” Kelley’s legs are crisscrossed on the chair while she faces you. “I mean, I already know the story, but gotta give the fans what they want.”
Thinking back, it was a cute little story. A couple of Spanish players were in the states for whatever reason, most likely for conferences, and you didn’t have anything to do that day.
“Well, we all know my bestest friend is the one and only Christen Press, and she’s also friends with the amazing Jenni Hermoso. So when word got around they were in town, everyone set plans to go to this nice club and essentially hang out. I specifically remember after Chris and Tobin dragged me with them when we got there and sat in the round booths, both Jenni and Chris forced me and Alexia in the middle to sit next to each other. We got to talking, and eventually, we went on a couple of dates until Jenni and Christen finally admitted they had been trying to set us up.”
Most of what you say is true, but you leave out some parts to keep it PG. After you both got extremely drunk, Alexia dragged you to her hotel room, where you both had an unrestful night. The next morning, she did explain how she’d love to take you on a date, to which you said yes, and now you’re happily engaged. After you two were together for around a year and a half, Barca had an offer for you, which you quickly accepted. Everyone adored how you moved to the club with your fiancé.
Kelley’s head rests on her hand as she stares at you in a complete trance. “Tell me more.”
You laugh at her words and say, “Umm, oh! Now Christen is my maid of honor for our wedding, and Jenni is Alexia’s. Mapi was not happy about being knocked down to just a bridesmaid or groomsman, whatever you want to call it.”
“I’m a little offended that I wasn't offered the position of maid of honor.” The brunette places a hand on her heart in fake hurt, making you roll your eyes.
“You’re literally one of my bridesmaids. I can just put you as a guest if you want."
“No! No, I’m cool with bridesmaids.”
Once the interview was done, you and Kelley hung out for a little bit to catch up. After a while, she offered you a ride back to your apartment, which you gladly accepted.
Alexia is sitting on the couch with Nala in her lap when she hears the fiddle of keys in the doorway. The pomeranian jumps up from her lap and over towards the place where you now stand. You crouch down and pet through her fur.
“Hey, baby.”
“Hola, mi amor.” Alexia makes her way over to you and pecks you on the lips.
“I was actually talking to this one.” You gesture to the dog that’s now panting in your arms. The taller girl glares at you and takes Nala from your arms before beginning to walk away. “No no no no no, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” You say as you press multiple kisses on her lips.
“That’s what I thought.” She mumbles against you and sets the ball of fluff on the ground. Her hands grab onto your hips, pulling you in, and start to wrap around your waist. She nuzzles her face in the crook of your neck while placing feather-like kisses on your skin. “I’ve missed you.”
You wrap your arms back around her, feeling all of your tension go away. “Awe, I’ve missed you too, baby. I know I’ve only been gone for a few hours, but it felt like years.” Your voice is muffled by your face being pressed against her chest.
“I’m glad you decided to sleep with the enemy.” You pull back from the embrace and notice her little smirk.
“You saw the interview, huh?”
The Spanish player nods before hooking her arm behind your legs and lifting you up. “Now, I have been patiently waiting for you to get home so I can get my daily cuddles.”
She struts off into your bedroom and throws you, not so gently, on the bed. Cutting off your complaining, she jumps on top of you, hugging your body and resting her head on your stomach. You shake her head with a smile on your face and begin to run your fingers through her faded pink hair. Her head slowly rises and falls due to your breathing, but it still lulls her right to sleep. Nala jumps beside you and also rests her head on your chest, causing you to smile softly and run your other hand through her fur. There is no other place you’d rather be than with your two favorite girls sleeping on top of you.

if you lie down, lie next to me |carmen berzatto x reader|
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
prompt: you and carmen are newly weds, moving into your forever home.
inspired by @carmybears fic assembly required which has been SO heavy on my mind lately mixed with lana del rey's "if you lie down, lie next to me" <3
contains: fluff. just fluff newly weds, alludes at smut, some language, but tooth rotting sweetness and fluff.
“Carmen, I’m not even kidding. Where the fuck did all of this stuff come from?” You groan, collapsing another cardboard box with a huff, shoving it into the pile with the others by the door. “Our apartment was, like, one-fifth the size of this one. The living room was like our whole apartment. How do we have this much shit?”
Carmen snorted lightly, grinning and unpacking the various pots and pans. New pots and pans- wedding gifts.Your wedding came with an influx of appliances and cookware, gadgets for the kitchen that Carmen bubbled with excitement about. And a margarita maker- for you, of course- courtesy of Natalie Berzatto herself. The old apartment, you barely had space for the dishes and pots you had, let alone new ones.
So Carmen kept them tucked away, until he got the new place for you. He didn’t have a clue at the time he’d be buying you the Brownstone you were in now, nestled in the heart of Old Town. A good neighborhood, close-ish to the restaurant, zoned in a good school district- a forever home, for the two of you.
“I mean, most of it was wedding gifts.” Carmen shrugged. “The rest are your shoes.” He teased, a playful glint in his eye when he looked over at you.
You rolled your eyes. “Ha-ha,” You said sarcastically, bumping him with your shoulder. “Seriously, though, I’m never doing this again. We’re here for life, Berzatto.”
“That’s the plan, Berzatto.” Carmen nudged you back lightly, leaning to press a sweet kiss to your blushing cheeks, a loving squeeze to your ass when he passed you that left you squealing.
“The good news is,” Carmen paused, sliding the pot onto the hanging rack over the island, stepping back to admire it. “The kitchen is unpacked.”
“The most important room.” You hummed playfully. Carmen nodded in agreement, arms slipping around your waist, pulling you into his chest.
“Think we should celebrate?” Carmen grinned. “Christen it?”
“We already christened it.” You rolled your eyes at him. “Twice- no, three times, already.”
“Yeah but now it’s done.” Carmen countered. “No more boxes in the way.”
“I think you can only christen something once.” You give him a pointed look, ignoring the way his crotch is rubbing against your hip. You were still sore from the celebratory round of “putting the coffee table together” from earlier.
“And I’m starving. Should we order in again?” You hum, looking at the fridge. Nothing but a bottle of champagne and leftover takeout Chinese food. Your stomach turned at the thought.
Carmen caught your grimace, a hand running soothingly down your back. “If you want. I can run to the store, too. Grab some things for dinner. Break in the kitchen now that it’s done.”
“I think I like that idea better.” You nod, leaning against his chest, feeling his chain through his t-shirt- the same chain you had tucked between your teeth earlier. Your knees wobbled at the thought. “What are you making?”
“What’re you in the mood for?” Carmen tilted his head back to look at you. “Can make you whatever, baby, just lemme know.”
“I am down for anything that doesn’t come out of a box.” You giggle, nose snarling at the Chinese food. “Surprise me, Chef.” You grinned smugly, content at how Carmen’s cheeks flushed with heat.
“You wanna come with me?” Carmen asked, reaching over to swipe his keys off the kitchen counter.
You rolled your lips in thought. “I need to shower.” You blink at him sweetly. “I feel all sweaty and gross.”
“Alright. Need anythin’ else, baby?” Carmen is looking for his phone, patting his pockets and turning in a semi-circle to look around him.
You roll your eyes, plucking the phone off the coffee table in the living room, passing it to him. He was always losing his phone. You’d begged him to get an Apple watch but he swore it got in the way of his cooking, so you took to texting Nat or Richie- who always had their phones- when you needed him.
“Something to drink? Unless you want champagne because I’m pretty sure that’s all that’s in there.” You giggle, looking at the fridge.
Carmen smiled, pulling his hat over his tousled locks. “I got it.” He muttered, leaning to press a sweet, soft kiss to your lips, hands splaying over your hips, pulling you closer and closer into him.
He always managed to make you swoon like that, cheeks rushing with heat, dizzy and light with love. You hoped you’d always feel like this. Even when you were old and wrinkly and wobbly, you hoped Carmen would still kiss you like that- in this very spot, in this very house.
Tumblr media
“Oh, Cass Elliot?” You grinned, spinning with the vinyl in your hands, brows raised playfully at Carmen. “He has taste.”
Carmen snorted lightly in laughter, dishrag slung over his shoulder, spooning the sauce over the chicken in the pan. The kitchen was warm, smelling heavily of spices and a dash of citrus. You’d set up the vinyl in the corner by the nook, an old school record player passed down from Carmen’s grandmother. His Nonna Berzatto, who he adored. He had told you about how he’d always go over and help her make Sunday sauce. She had that same vinyl in her kitchen, next to a picture of her parents, and a prayer candle of Mary. It was all he managed to get, keep after she passed and his parents sold everything else that they could. He’d even snagged a few records, though the one you held looked new.
“Yeah. Thought you liked her stuff?” Carmen muttered, eyes cutting to yours gently.
“I do.” You grinned, slipping the record out of the protective paper. “How’d you know that?” You lifted the arm of the record player, slipping out the old disk and sliding in the new one, careful of the bouquet you’d just placed by it. Carmen had snagged one at the grocery earlier, surprising you with the beautiful bloom when you’d gotten out of the shower.
“Because, you told me.” Carmen said simply, checking the asparagus inside the stove. Your heart fluttered. “When we were comin’ back from that trip… The, uh, the one we took to Detroit, remember? You played it on the way back.”
Your chest soared, filling with that warmth that made your body tingle from head to toe. “You remembered that? That was… two years ago?”
“Of course I remembered that.” Carmen scoffed lightly, shaking his head at you like he couldn’t believe you’d say something so ridiculous. “You said that, uh, that one song was like the love song to you. So I-I started listening to it because… ya know, it reminded me of you and stuff.” Carmen muttered, cheeks heating at the omission.
You beamed, lifting the long arm of the record player, letting it softly come to life with a scratch of static before the slow melody filled the room. “You’re sweet.” You hum, arms wrapping around his torso, swaying gently to the familiar medley. “Never would’ve guessed you woulda been this sweet.”
“Yeah? I’m given’ off asshole vibes?” Carmen laughed, hips turning slightly to face you.
“Not at all.” You shook your head. “Gave off recluse vibes.”
“Recluse?” Carmen turned to you.
“Yeah, like… quiet, shy boy vibes.” You giggle. “You barely spoke to me when I started… and you hired me!”
“I thought you were pretty.” Carmen shrugged boyishly. “And I thought if I talked to you, I’d throw up or embarrass myself. Also thought there was no way you’d be single. Too pretty and funny and… I dunno, thought you’d never go out with me.”
“Little did you know.” You grinned wickedly. “I had been stalking you in secret.” Carmen laughed at you. “I thought you were pretty, too.”
Carmen blushed at your omission, lips twitching in a smile. You swayed lightly, cheek pressed to his chest, letting the soft melody lull you. You remembered the car ride back from Detroit. Carmen was going to some chef expo there, trying to network and get Sydney the star she deserved. You’d agreed to go along. Things were far enough along it was stable, but still new and exciting. Your first real trip as a couple. You’d stayed in a hotel, gone to Carmen’s colleague’s fancy restaurant, went sightseeing and shopping hand-in-hand. You couldn’t help feeling so romantic, shuffling songs from the playlist you listened to when you were getting ready for a date. Old school tracks, filled with symphonies and ballads of love.
“I think this is almost done. D’you want to grab the glasses and I’ll-”
“-Let it sit for a minute.” You sigh contently, turning down the heat on the stove top.
“What’re you doin’?” Carmen huffs in laughter, turning while you pull at him, your hand lacing through his own, tugging him to the open space on the other side of the kitchen island.
You just smile at him, pulling him close to you. Your hand in his, the other wrapped around and settled on his spine. His free hand followed, sliding down your back. You leaned towards him, chin tilted towards his face, his curls tickling your forehead. You swayed slowly, nothing elaborate or coordinated, just a soft shuffle type sway, Carmen pulled close to you.
“‘M not good at this.” Carmen’s breath hitched, hand squeezing yours, his thumb gliding over your wedding rings.
“Yeah, you are.” You hum, nose brushing his. “Best dancer I’ve ever seen.” You mutter, your lips slotting over his sweetly. Carmen’s hand left yours, cupping your jaw and pulling you closer, his lips soft against your own. Your head found his shoulder, dipping into his collarbone, arms wrapped around his torso while he rocked you gently. The sound of Cass Elliot’s voice humming out of the record player Baby, I’m Yours fading into Words of Love. The fan from the stove still buzzing with life, wafting out the steam from the pans, rhythmically merging with the sounds from the street. A relatively quiet neighborhood, filled with quiet cars and the occasional children’s screech from their strollers that pushed by. It was all so calming, the sound of your new home. Sounds you hoped would become familiar overtime and still shared with Carmen.

Christmas with a demon
Tumblr media
Summary: Dean won’t let you go. Never.
Pairing: Demon!Dean Winchester x fem!Reader
Warnings: angst, mentions of kidnapping, a hint of fluff, kidnapping
Tumblr media
“Dean, can we not go home? I bet Sammy is missing us,” you tug at Dean’s wrist. “Christmas is soon, and I don’t want to spend it on the road.”
“Why not?” He cocks his head to watch you walk toward him. You’re wearing only his red shirt and a pair of fuzzy socks. Dean smirks as you limp a little – the aftermath of his insatiable desire for you. “We got us.”
You sigh deeply. “Dean, you are a demon and I’m still your hostage or something.” You wrinkle your nose when he tells you that this is a relationship, not a hostage situation. “This is not how I imagined our relationship would turn out. I wanted love, not being a demon’s toy.”
“You’re not a toy to me,” he argues. Dean rubs his scruffy chin, wondering how he can convince you to not leave him. He won’t keep you around using force. “Fine, I’ll get you a tree and all. Wait here.”
“Wait, what are you—" you sigh as he’s halfway toward his car before you can stop him. He’s still the man you love, but so different at the same time. “I don’t want a tree, only my Dean back, and for Sam to not be alone on Christmas.”
Tumblr media
“Don’t open your eyes,” Dean whispers as he guides you away from the Impala. “I mean it, baby. No cheating.”
“Where are we going?” You can’t see because Dean put a bandana over your eyes. “Dean, I don’t like this. I hope you didn’t find another spot you want to christen.”
“No, sweetheart,” he chuckles and presses a kiss to your neck. “It’s a surprise, a Christmas surprise. You’ll love it, Y/N.”
You let Dean guide you toward a house. He tells you to wait as he unlocks the door and opens it for you. “Dean, where are we? I don’t like this.”
“Just relax, sweetheart. I swear you’ll love it,” he tuts and shoves you inside the house. He slams the door shut with his boot, chuckling as something sounding like a picture frame drops to the ground. “Alright, here it is.”
He takes the bandana off, allowing you to see. You gasp as you are standing in a living room decorated for Christmas. A huge Christmas tree stands in the corner, and there are at least twenty beautifully wrapped gifts under the tree.
“Dean, how did you?” You frown as your eyes land on the picture frames on a shelf above the fireplace. “Where are we? What did you do?”
“Uh-Crowley sent me to collect a few souls,” he shrugs. “Guy was due in three days. I sent him to hell a little faster.”
“What?” You turn around to look at Dean. “You killed the man on Christmas Eve? How could you? How?”
“Relax,” he cups your cheek. “I was joking. I only hijacked their Christmas. They are at a motel, believing there is a gas leak at their home. We have all night, Y/N:”
“No,” you sniffle and sidestep Dean. “We will leave their home and you will call them and tell them everything is alright. You can’t just steal their Christmas. This is not what I wanted.”
He groans. “What did you want? A tree? Gifts?”
“I wanted the man I love back, and for my family to not worry about me and you. I wanted to drive home for Christmas and make sure Sammy was not alone. You will never understand what I want because you’re not my Dean.”
Dean chases after you when you storm off. You shake his hand off and glare at him. “Leave me alone. If you want to play happy couple, do it. But I’m out of this!”
Tumblr media
“Wake, wake,” Dean purrs in your ear. He pecks your cheek, trying to wake you. “Sweetheart, I know you are awake.”
“I don’t want to,” you grumble. “Just leave me alone. You’re worse than the Grinch. How could you steal their Christmas and house.”
“I gave it back,” he grumbles, looking offended at your reaction. “Stop moping and get up. I don’t want you to spend Christmas in bed. I mean, we could spend it in bed, but I got a surprise for you.”
“I pass,” you grunt. “If it’s as awful as the last one, please keep it to yourself.”
“Nah, you will love that one. Promised.”
“Fine. If it’s a ribbon around your dick I must disappoint you. Dean pulled that prank three years ago.”
“I remember,” he purrs. “You loved to unwrap your gift.”
“Dean,” you sigh as he hopefully looks at you. His eyes barely turn black these days and you hope, if you play along he will agree to let Sam heal him. “Okay. What’s the surprise?”
“Just wait for it…”
Tumblr media
“What did you do?” You look around the poorly decorated motel room.
The tree looks like he stole it from another home.
There are half-wrapped gifts and annoying Christmas songs are blaring from his phone. But the worst is that Sam is sitting on a chair, wrapped in a red ribbon.
“I got you a tree, gifts, and Sammy!” Dean proudly states. He points at his brother, restrained to a chair. “Merry Christmas, sweetheart!”

The Girl in IT - 5. Pony
A Boss! Joel Miller x IT Specialist F! Reader AU
Tumblr media
The LIST │ Series Masterlist
Chapter Rating: E (18+, MDNI)
Chapter Summary: You and Joel decide to keep things under wraps. Murphy's Law has something to say about that...
Chapter Warnings and Tags: No outbreak AU, Boss x Employee Relationship, Sugar Daddy Lite, Smut, SO MUCH SMUT, Age Gap, Older Man/Younger woman, So much dirty talk, Car Sex, Improper use of Tesla autopilot (please, for the love of god, don't use it for something like sex!), Sexting through Slack (Don't do this either!), No beta we die like men!
Word Count: 3.5K
A/N: A shorter one today, I was feeling under the weather for a good portion of last week and wasn't able to really add more to the plot with my medicated brain fog. Hope the smut makes up for it! Sugar is finally feeling more confident and sexy, and we are here for it! Hope you all enjoy!
"Fuck baby, it's only 7:30 in the morning," Joel pants, grabbing onto your hips as you grind harshly against him, your head thrown back in pleasure. You were on him the moment he stepped into the driver's seat, thighs straddling his. He presses open-mouthed kisses along the column of your throat as you pull on his curls. “You have no fucking idea just how much I’ve thought about this, Sugar.”
“Oh, I have an idea, it’s written on that list of yours,” you tease, nibbling on the shell of his ear. "I thought we could try out that autopilot feature. You know, for science," you breathe, pushing the fabric of your skirt higher. "I was thinking that this Tesla is due for a christening." You activate full self-driving mode and set the destination to the office, Joel hurriedly unbuttoning your silk blouse, and exposing your bra. His calloused fingertips graze the low-cut lace edge of your demi-cup. "Baby-"
"Do you like it?" you smirk, pushing your breasts further into his grasp, his large hands greedily cupping them. “I saw you looking at them on the mannequin, thought I would model them for you-“
“What happened to my sweet little Sugar?” Joel murmurs as he suddenly grasps your chin, forcing you to look into his eyes. “You get a taste of my cock and now you’re desperate for it, huh?”
Joel looks intently at the autopilot GPS, the screen showing that they are approximately 10 minutes away from the office. “Do you think you can make yourself cum before we get there? He pushes your skirt higher, his gaze caught at the glistening spot of wetness on your panties. “Shit, so fucking wet for me.” He hurriedly unzips his jeans, his cock already standing at full attention. He pushes your panties aside, his fingers slowly grazing your slit. “Fuck baby, you gonna let me bless this car? I swear if I don’t get inside you soon I’ll fucking die-“
You notch his tip against your entrance. “We don’t want that now do we?” You whisper, giggling at how ridiculous and desperate you must be sounding. You slowly lower yourself as you grasp at the backrest, Joel’s gaze fixated on how your pussy lips start to slowly take in his cock. “Fuck Joel, you’re so fucking big, I don’t think-“
“Don’t think, baby, just… FUCK!” He shouts as you grasp on his shoulders, fully sheathing yourself to the hilt. His hands grip your hips as you start to grind on him. “Shit, just hold still baby, if you keep doing that I’m gonna cum-“
“Isn’t that what you want?” You pant, bouncing up and down on his length. “We only have 8 minutes left, clocks ticking old man-“ he suddenly thrusts up against you as you scream, pushing the cups of your bra below your breasts. He takes a nipple between his teeth, the flat of his tongue soothing the sting. “Oh fuck!” You shout, arching your back towards his mouth, wanting more.
You had long fantasized that being intimate with Joel —the man your heart had been hung up on for years—would undoubtedly be the most incredible experience of your life.
This was something else entirely.
“Tell me, baby, how does it feel having an old man sucking on your tits like this?” His thumb goes to your clit, his calloused skin hitting that bundle of nerves just right. “Only I know how to make you squirm like this huh?” He pinches it for good measure and you swear you could come from just that alone. “Tell me baby, who does this pussy belong to?” He says against your breast, hollowing his mouth as he sucks another love bite onto your skin.
“Fuck mark me, Joel, show everyone in the office who I belong to,” you murmur as you start to shake, the feeling of your impending release spreading throughout your body like wildfire.
“Oh baby you’re so close, I feel you squeezing me so damn tight!” He slams your hips against his as he starts to fuck you in earnest, barely hanging on as you bounce on him like a ragdoll. Your lips meet his in a passionate kiss, all teeth and tongue, wrapping your arms around his neck as he pounds into you with reckless abandon. “Are you gonna cum for me?“ he groans as you completely lose yourself, the car reversing into a stall as you try to catch your breath. "Fuck Joel, I-" you struggle to formulate words as your body comes crashing down, the feeling so delicious it renders you speechless.
"I know, baby, I know," he soothes, "You were amazing," Joel breathes as he leans back, gently cradling your exhausted body against his.
“What about you?” You ask against his throat, lifting your hips. “Let me help you-“
Joel gives you a quick peck on your lips, helping you situate on the passenger seat as he quickly settles himself, zipping up his jeans. "Don't worry about me, Sugar. Ran outta time-"
"... but you're the boss, silly," you tease, reaching over to cup his erection.
Joel groans, swatting your hand away. "As much as I am very tempted, I have an early Zoom meeting with The H Group. Tess will have me by the balls if I don't show up on time." He cups your cheek, his thumb soothing the skin beneath it. "It's still early, why don't you grab something to eat? He slides you his black Amex. "Go crazy, maybe stop by the mall and grab you a little treat?"
"I might as well head in myself, I wasn't able to run reports since Tess decided we should drink ourselves silly yesterday." you smile, smoothing out your skirt. You turn and give Joel a little smirk. "It's a shame you weren't able to come, I always wondered what it would feel like to have your cum leaking out of me as I sit at my desk today..."
"Is that so?" Joel purrs, capturing your lips in a lingering kiss. "Are you gonna walk in with me, or do you want to keep this between us?" he asks, his expression serious. "As much as I am ready to scream from the rooftops that you're finally mine, I understand if you want to keep it under wraps-"
"... and suffer Connie's inevitable interrogation?" you groan, checking your reflection in the mirror. "I think I would like to keep you to myself for just a little bit longer if that's okay."
"It's more than okay, baby. Let's take it one step at a time." He smiles, opening the car door. "Meet me for lunch later? Maybe we can take a longer one, you know, maybe finish what we started?" he suggests, wiggling his eyebrows playfully.
You give him one last kiss, chuckling as he grabs your ass. "Go, before Tess goes on a manhunt!" you tease. Joel kisses your forehead. "I love you, baby girl."
You beam at him as he gives you a wink. "I love you, too, Joel."
Tumblr media
"So, who's the guy?" Connie whispers, leaning towards you, absentmindedly stirring her coffee in the employee lounge.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," you deadpan, attempting to make your way out of the room before she could corner you. Her arm reaches across the doorframe, a knowing smile plastered on her face.
"Oh, stop playing coy, Sugar. It's written all over your neck!" Connie quips, motioning for you to take a look at the mirror beside you. Your eyes widen in shock at the sight of the numerous hickeys Joel has unknowingly left on your skin. Shades of red and purple adorn your neck like an unintentional pattern, a clear testament to the passionate night you shared. You blush at the sight as Connie sips from her coffee cup, motioning for you to take a seat at the nearest table.
Connie leans back into the plush seat, smirking at you. "So, spill. Who is it?"
"Whatever happened to 'a lady doesn't kiss and tell'?" you reply, crossing your arms. "I don't see how my love life is any of your business-"
Connie scoffs. "What are you, 50? Come on! We're all sluts here!" she exclaims, her eyes widening as she notices Joel walking into the room, clearing her throat. "Good Morning, Mr. Miller!" she says in a syrupy-sweet voice, her body turning in his direction.
Joel nods towards the both of you, a small knowing smirk at the corner of his mouth. "Good Morning ladies," he murmurs, pouring himself a cup of coffee. "Anything interesting going on with you guys lately?"
"Well, apparently, Sugar got herself a boyfriend!" Connie teases, "She looks like she got eaten alive by the state of her poor neck!"
You shoot Connie a playful glare, while Joel raises an eyebrow in amusement.
"Well," he says, throwing a wink your way, "he must be quite a guy if he managed to convince Sugar to give him a chance." He grabs his iPad, giving both of you a nod as he heads towards the door. "Sugar, think you could swing by my office after my first meeting? I need some... troubleshooting," he says with a pointed look, "and I need it sorted before lunch. Can you handle that for me?"
You try not to blush under his heated gaze, aware of Connie looking at the both of you with her mouth agape. Keep it professional, you tell yourself.
"Uh- Sure, Joel. Just send me a Slack when you're just about done with your meeting, and I'll... head on over," you say weakly, attempting to maintain composure.
"Oh, I sure will," he says with a wide grin. "Ladies," he says once more, Connie whistling as she watches him leave.
"What I would do to have a piece of that," she exclaims, giving you a wink. "It's a damn shame that he's pretty much a monk-"
"A monk?" you quip, raising an eyebrow in confusion. "What makes you think that?"
"I've been working here for the last five years, right?" she half-whispers, leaning towards you. "... and I've seen some things, you know? I know exactly who is banging who in this office, nothing and no one is safe from me, okay?" she smirks, "Joel, on the other hand? now that's someone I can't figure out. No ring on his finger, no photos of anyone except his family on his desk, no plus one at the galas and family days the company throws," she muses, "a fine specimen like him not tied down at his age? He either has a secret sugar baby or moonlights as a monk. There is no way a man like him goes without for that long," she sighs, stirring her coffee. "I'm beginning to think he's celibate. Anyway, about your mystery man-"
"Sugar?" Tess suddenly interjects, her head popping up through the doorway. "The engineers are having a hard time accessing the server from the site, do you think you could head over and troubleshoot?"
"Sure!" you exclaim a little too excitedly, gathering your things, thankful for the interruption. "Let me just grab a few things from my office and I'll head on over!"
"Sugar, wait, we aren't done yet-" Connie stammers, standing from her seat.
"...aren't you supposed to be manning the phones, Connie?" Tess interrupts her, a pointed look in her eyes, as you swiftly exit the room. You mutter a hasty "thanks" to Tess while squeezing past her.
"Now, Connie!" you hear Tess yell from down the hall, chuckling to yourself. Serves her right, you think. You run to your office, sending Joel a quick message through Slack:
Sugar (IT) Tess is sending me on-site, I might not be back before lunch. Maybe I could pop-in a little later? Let me know, ok?
You quickly pocket your phone, grab your purse, and hurriedly make your way out the door, giving Connie a semblance of a wave before she has the chance to stop you.
Later, as you kick yourself for taking longer on-site than you intended, you forgo your lunch break. Opting to make it back to the office as soon as possible and back into Joel's arms, you don't want to think about how the subcontractors talked over you and didn't take you seriously at all, their constant hollering and cat-calls make you want to gouge your eyes out. You sigh as you slam your car door, dragging your feet back towards the office. This day can't get any worse, right?
Connie leans in, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper as you stroll into the office. Her hand cups her mouth as she shares the latest gossip with Jesse in Engineering.
"Have you heard? Apparently, Joel is getting cozy with someone in the company," she discloses, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "Did you catch that Slack message? Wow, what a lucky girl—"
"Or lucky guy," Jesse interjects with a smirk. "'Baby' could be anyone."
Connie turns her attention to you, a playful grin on her face. "Hey Sugar, what's your take? I'm thinking Joel is packing an 8-incher—"
Your eyes widen, and you interrupt in a huff, trying to hide your embarrassment. "What are you even talking about?"
"The Slack message! The admin channel is blowing up!" Connie exclaims.
"Don't tell me you missed it on your phone? I haven't seen this many replies since Tommy accidentally sent a dick pic last year. Didn't think Joel had it in him—"
Panic sets in as you pull out your phone, unlocking it to find hundreds of Slack notifications. Your eyes widen in shock. "OH MY GOD!"
#MCG ADMIN 50 members Joel Hi baby, someone's missing you today ;P 0003.png - image sent to #MCG ADMIN He's been waiting for your sweet pie, why don't you head on over here and warm him up... Baby? Tommy Sugar? can you please delete these messages? SUGAR? Why are you not replying?   Hello?? Tess Shit. I sent her off-site because the engineers were having issues. FUCK. Sarah? Do you know her computer login by chance? Maybe we could delete it from her computer.
"Oh, shit," you exclaim, hastily shoving your phone into your purse. You make a beeline for your office, slamming the door shut behind you. Leaning against the door, you slide down to the floor, your heart pounding in your chest.
"What the hell, Joel? How can you be so careless?" you whisper in frustration, closing your eyes as you try to collect yourself.
You bring your phone up once more, scrolling through the hundreds of messages in the admin slack channel. "First things first," you mutter yourself, you click on the photo in question. It's a mirror selfie, Joel's jeans pushed down his thighs, his prominent bulge standing at full attention. He's pursing his lips, looking at the mirror, his eyes full of want and lust. "Holy shit Joel," you breathe, your breath caught in your throat at the sight.  Is the air off?
Right. You need to delete this.
You hover over the trash icon, the notifications still popping up in the background, so much so that you don't bother to dismiss them.
Connie (Reception) Has Christmas come early for us all? 🍆🍆🍆🍆 Who is the lucky girl? (Is it me? am I that girl?) Sarah (IT) That's enough, Connie.   Has Sugar come in yet?   Connie (Reception) Yep.   She's in shock. Ran into her office. I bet you're drooling over that pic, huh Sugar?  I know you want a piece of that fine ASS  Do us a favor and don't delete it. Sarah (IT) Connie. Stop.  Sugar, please delete the picture.
You hover over the photo. Before you can lose your nerve, you click on the download button. It's not like it's wrong, he is your boyfriend? lover? after all.
[Photo 0003.png has been deleted by the system admin.] Connie (Reception) OH COME ON! Tommy THANK FUCK Tess  Connie, I'm going to need you to come to my office.   NOW. Jesse (Engineering) Well, that's all she wrote, everyone! Whoops Connie, that's what happens when you fuck around and find out, it's off to the principal's office for you! Sugar (IT) The photo has been deleted and all messages concerning this issue have been logged and sent to Tess and Sarah for review. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Tess Sugar, I'm going to need admin access to the channel just so we can prevent further inappropriate photos and messages from being sent.  Frank (Interior Design) Oh, come on Sugar. I know you took a peek. It's okay, it's a safe space here at Miller Construction Group... I know I definitely looked. (Sorry Bill) Bill (Civil) FRANK! Leave the poor girl alone. Thank you for your service, Sugar. Don't you all have work to do? Connie (Reception) OH COME ON SUGAR. DON'T BE LIKE THAT! (Is it you? you can tell me, girl. Is that why you had all of those hickeys? We're all friends here.) Tess CONNIE. NOW.
You scramble to your desk, pulling up Slack as you hover over to the direct message tab, looking for Joel.
Direct Message to J.Miller Sugar (IT) Joel? Are you ok? Joel Uh... Sugar (IT) Joel, what were you thinking? Joel  I was thinking about you. Fuck. I messed up, baby.  I wasn't thinking and I was so fucking horny... and now I got Connie sending me nudes. Sugar (IT) I wouldn't be surprised if it's your new contact photo on her phone. Joel So, what did you think of it?
You take a look at the photo again, the mere sight of his cock making your mouth water and your panties wet. Granted, the grainy photo has nothing on seeing his dick in person, but you can see the appeal to it. Joel has a fantastic cock, and what's better is that it's all yours. If the office wasn't on high alert right now, what's to stop you from strolling into his office and mounting his dick, taking everything that he's got? You get goosebumps just thinking about it. Even if it's been a few days since you lost your virginity to the man you've been obsessing over for a good portion of the last decade, you just can't seem to get enough.  Is that what desire is like? you think to yourself, shifting in your seat and rubbing your thighs in a weak attempt at relief. It's not like you're about to touch yourself...
My door is closed, normal people would knock, right?
Poor Joel, you think. All he wanted was to show you how excited he was, and now the good majority of his employees know just how well-endowed their boss was. It's embarrassing, no matter how good this man looked.
I should make it up to him.
You take a look at the La Perla bra that you have on under your blouse, the purple lace demi cut barely covering your breasts, just the way Joel likes it, you muse, chuckling to yourself. Taking one last look at your closed office door, you angle yourself just right, enough for your nipple to graze the edge of the lace. You bite your bottom lip, taking a few snaps to make sure you get it just right.
Taking a deep breath, you look at the photos.
Damn. I look... hot? Sexy, even?
With a shaky hand, you go back to the thread, pulling up the upload photo option and clicking on what you think is the most flattering photo, trying not to be weirded out looking at half-naked photos of yourself.  Yeah. This will do.
Sugar (IT) Are you busy right now? 0345.png photo sent to #mcg-admin  I'm so wet for you, Daddy.
Wait.  Your eyes take a look at the thread, your eyes widening when you realize that you didn't go back to the direct messages but back to #mcg-admin.  HOLY-
Frank (Interior Design) WELL DAMN, SUGAR. Are we all just sending illicit photos of ourselves now?   Should I drop my pants and join in on the fun? Eugene (Electrical) GOT DAMN. NOW THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT WHO KNEW THAT YOU WERE HIDING ALL THAT??! Jesse (Engineering) HOLY SHIT WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW Bill (Civil) FRANK! Sarah (HR) WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE? [Photo 0345.png has been deleted by Sugar (IT)]
Well, you think to yourself. So much for keeping things a secret.
Direct Message to Sugar (IT) Joel Baby, I think they know. Sugar (IT) YOU THINK??

Mini Swiftie // Jessie Fleming
Tumblr media
a/n: based off this request. Hope you like it.
JFlem✔️
i miss you :(
see you tonight? x
you smiled at your phone, pressing the icon to call your girl. Leaving the room where your team mates were sat, watching a movie while you went down to the hotel lobby. "Hey" you said as she accepted your call, "hello, my girl" the freckled girl whispered, slipping out of her hotel room. "How was your day?"
Canada and the Uswnt would face each other at the weekend in a friendly but staying away from your lover was awful. In London you lived together, slept next to each other every day and now not doing so was something neither of you liked. But at least due to the friendly, your teams were in the same town.
One evening, the two of you found a little bench that was located halfway to each of your hotels. It became your spot. "Can i see you tonight?" she repeated her text question "yeah, same time, same place?"
"Yeah"
As you were about to say someting when you saw a glimpse of a small brunette. Kelley. "Gotta go!" Immediately, you ended the call.
You
sorry, Kelley is on her way
see you later x
"Mini Swiftie! We‘re watching your favorite movie and you‘re not there" the veteran ruffled through your hair. Your hands went back in your hair to straighten it. "Who did you talk to lover?" the lover was in the same sing-song voice as your sister performed it, "kelley, you need to stop with these references", you stood up as she dramatically clutched her heart, "don’t blame, love made me crazy" you rolled your eyes, walking to the elevators.
Ever since you made your debut for the senior team, the team loved to tease you with Taylor Swift song lyrics. You get it, you‘re a Swift but it‘s not your fault that she was your older sister, you loved her and she was your biggest supporter (Jess would fight her because according to her, she‘s your number one fan) but sometimes it was heavingly annoying.
"Come on, Mini Swiftie, you didn‘t answer my question!" she ran after you, jumping in the elevator just in time. "My mom" you replied nonchalantly, hoping she wouldn‘t realize that you‘re lying.
Nobody knew about you and the canadian girl and it should stay that way. Compared to your sister, you didn't like the stage. Yes, you played football on a world stage, you became a world champion in 2019, but the comparison to a sold-out stadium and a sold-out Taylor concert was something different. You only got to know peace through the Canadian woman who showed you how it was possible to live in peace despite the fact that you were in the public eye. You loved her for that, you loved her for so many reasons.
-
Midnight couldn‘t come fast enough. Mal was in a deep slumber already as you were wide awake. Mal and you roomed together all the time, you were one of the og-youngsters, gave your debut together and were great friends so it became a common thing. The forward was always in a deep sleep, you could scream next to her and she wouldn't notice, it made things a lot easier to sneak out of the room and sneak in later in the night without getting caught.
20 minutes before midnight, you got up, dressed yourself in a hoodie and some shorts. Thankfully, the weather wasn‘t cold or rainy. You sneaked out of the room and hotel, walking down the streets to your spot.
"Hi, baby" you greeted your girl as you took a seat beside her, your lips pressing against her cheek. "Gimme a real kiss" the canadian whined, chuckling at her antics, "so needy" nonetheless you gave her the sweet kiss she deserved.
-
The following days, you met up with Jess at the same time and same place. During the day you hadn’t had much free time so midnight was perfect to update on how your day was and the missing kisses, something important for the both of you.
"Do you think Mini Swiftie is acting weird?" Sonnett asked her friends, looking at you as you smiled at your phone (texting with Jessie) "how come?" Alex asked. Trying to explain what Sonnett meant, Christen cut her attempt short, "give her a rest, she‘s young" you didn‘t hear Christen protect you but if you had, you would‘ve been very thankful. The defender took the matters in her own hands as she looked at Kelley and Alex. They shared a look before they nodded.
-
"Today was awful" you grumbled as you flopped down next to your girlfriend, ready to rest your head on her chest. "What happened, love?" lovingly, she scartched through your hair, a method to calm you down. "Sonny and Kelley didn‘t leave my side all day long and when I said something they replied with lyrics"
"Oh my girl, you have to tell them If you don‘t like it" her voice was quiet, understanding. "Jess, you know how they are" the midfielder sighed, she knew exactly how they were, "can you just hold me?"
You loved your team mates to death but sometimes they‘re just too much. You had no problem with their teasing, you‘re proud to call yourself a Swift and you didn‘t care If they called you Mini Swiftie but if they don’t give real answer after every spoken sentence of you, only a lyric, it made you angry. That way you couldn't have a real conversation with them and you didn‘t want to either. How do they even come up with (you hate to admit that) a perfect song line in such a short time slot?
"Anything, baby" your girlfriend pulled you closer as she continued to massage your scalp.
-
"Hey, was Y/n with you guys last night?" Mal asked the group. "No, why?" came the reply from the Room Morgan-O‘Hara, Press-Heath, Lavelle-Mewis and Sonnett-Horan. "Weird" your room mate mumbled. Last night, she drank a cup of coffee before going to bed which was why she had to get up 3 times during the night to go to the bathroom.
The first time was shortly after midnight - your bed empty. She thought you were in the bathroom so she waited, no light was on, you weren‘t there.
The second time was around 2am tending towards 3am - your bed still empty.
The last time she went to the bathroom was around 5am, you were soundfully asleep in your bed.
The big question: where had you been?
"Interesting. She's hiding something from us." Kelley had a mischief smile on her face while clapping her hands together. "Detectives, let‘s go!"
Hard to believe but everyone agreed to Kelley's plan.
-
"Good night" Mal whispered in to the dark room, ready to fake her sleep. Her back was facing you while you laid on your bed, staring at the ceiling. Mal‘s phone was hidden under her pillow as your team mates waited for a signal. Sonny had even created a groupchat 'Mission: Swift' with Tobin, Chris, Alex, Kelley, Mal, Rose, Sam and Lindsey.
20 minutes before midnight you checked If Mallory was asleep, "Mal, are you up?" she didn‘t answer you - in your eyes she was in her deep slumber. You got out of your pyjama and dressed into the same outfit as usual. The forward could only assume what you did, her eyes closed.
When she heard the door open and shut, she grabbed her phone and texted.
Mal
suspect left the room.
Team Kellex and Preath were down in the lobby, Chris and Tobin sitting at the bar while Kelley and Alex sat in the armchairs which were not in your sight. The other group members were still in their rooms, waiting for the next sign.
Kelley
down.
As soon as they saw Kelley‘s text, everyone sprinted out of their rooms, down the stairs to join the rest of the group. "She went this way" Alex whispered as they arrived, Chris and Tobin already by their sides.
They kept enough distance from you as they followed you yet always had an eye on you. Every once in a while you turned around but didn't see anyone so you just kept walking like nothing happened, maybe your mind was messing with you.
The team felt like fbi agents, working on an undercover case or like they‘re in a movie, either way it was exciting.
"My love, hello" you sat down next to her, giving her a kiss.
"Did she- did she just-" Sonnett started, completely shocked.
"..kiss someone?" Rose ended the question, eyes wide.
Everyone‘s mouth was agape, mini swiftie with a girlfriend? What? "I didn‘t expect that" the tall blonde said, looking at her friends.
"Yeah, yeah, but who is she?" Lindsey chipped in, her curiosity on high-levels.
Tobin was the first to approach you and the mysterious girl by your side, Chris, Kelley and Alex close behind, Mal, Rose, Sam, Sonny and Lindsey following. Tobin scoffed, clearing her throat. It made you turn around, your eyes wide as you stood up, pulling Jessie behind you. The first who opened her mouth was Kelley though, who would‘ve thought. "What‘s this?" Kelley asked, her tone strict, kind of like a mom. The others gathered around you, glaring a the girl behind you "Baby Canada!" Tobin said, walking around the bench. "H- Hi" the canadian gave a little wave, shaking slightly as all the women stared at her. "So?" the small but scary brunette asked, she wanted an answer, everybody wanted. You looked at your girlfriend, you didn't want to tell them anything she wasn‘t comfortable with. "We saw you kiss so don‘t lie to us" Alex added. As Jess nodded with a reassuring smile, you turned back to your team mates "Jessie is my girlfriend. We‘re a couple" you squeezed her hand for your own sake. "Well, well, well, baby Canada" Kelley joined Tobin, intimidating the freckled girl "do we have to give you the shovel talk?" It was Alex who was talking, taking some steps to stand next to Kelley "Stop it guys" you didn‘t like how that turned out at all, you had a feeling that your girlfriend was scared, not that she wouldn‘t face them but it was dark and late and 9 women were just to much. "Go back to the hotel, we‘ll talk in the morning" you said about to walk away with Jess. "What‘re you gonna do?" Rose asked.
"I will walk her to her hotel"
"She‘s old enough to walk alone!" you glared at Kelley. "I don‘t care, I’ll walk her back to the hotel and then go back to ours."
"Well then we‘re all gonna bring her, we won‘t let you walk on your own" Christen added, not liking the feeling to let you walk home alone. She liked that you felt the same way with Jess walking alone.
"Fine"
Jessie and you walked ahead of them as they trailed behind you, gushing over the new information they had about their Mini Swiftie. "I‘m so sorry" you murmured while you pulled her into you, your arm around her shoulders as hers went around your mid section. "It‘s fine, they love you"
"They‘re annoying" you grumbled.
The rest of the walk was spent in silence, you ignored your friends, your only focus: the midfielder in your arms. As you arrived at the hotel, Kelley instantly opened her mouth again "Now say bye, we all want to sleep" rolling your eyes, you looked at your girl, smiling fondly. You were so in love with her. "Good night, my love. Sweet dreams" you pushed your lips against her forehead, not giving her a real kiss as your team mates stared at you. "Good night, baby" she gave your cheek a peck, understanding why you didn‘t give her the proper good night kiss like usual.
You watched her as she entered the hotel, waiting till she wasn‘t in sight anymore before you turned around.
"Tell us everything, Mini Swiftie"

Gingerbread house ❄️ Jack Hughes
Tumblr media
summary — Jack and y/n each build a gingerbread house and make it a competition to see which one is the best.
pairing — jack hughes x reader
words — 1212
Tumblr media
"Jack?" you call through the house as you close the front door with your foot and try to balance the heavy bags with all the shopping.
Packed with all the different things you had bought for baking, you make your way to the kitchen, where you set the heavy bags down with an etch and then take turns massaging your aching arms.
"Babe? I'm back!" you call out again when you get no answer. But it still seems to remain silent.
Jack had wanted to accompany you to the supermarket, but you had thankfully declined, because you knew exactly how exhausting it could be with you when you were in your baking mood and wanted to buy countless sweet decorations, so that this usually took over an hour and you didn't want to do this to your boyfriend.
Carelessly, you leave the bags on the kitchen counter and make your way upstairs, where you walk over to the room that Jack has successfully christened his gaming room.
This room contains his computer, a PlayStation, countless games and everything else a gamer's heart desires.
As the door is only ajar, you open it a crack to take a look inside the room.
Every now and then Jack plays with his friends, so you take a cautious look inside before you walk all the way into the room.
But today Jack seems to be playing alone. His headset is lying on the table next to him, while the faint sounds of the game he's playing reach you.
"Babe?" you repeat carefully as you stand inside the room.
"Honey? You're back already?" you can clearly hear the surprise in Jack's voice and shortly after he stops the game, he turns around and gives you a big smile.
"Yes. I've already called you twice, but you don't seem to have heard me. I've got everything we need now. If you want, we can get started."
"Oh yes!" The excitement was written all over Jack's face. And in a flash, he switched off his PlayStation and his screen.
"I can hardly wait to build my own gingerbread house!" he clapped his hands enthusiastically before grabbing you by the hips and literally throwing you over his shoulder.
"Jack!" you screech, almost startled, as you claw at his T-shirt, trying to hold on.
"Don't worry. I've got you," he promises as he carries you down the stairs into the kitchen, where he carefully sets you down on one of the stools.
"Wow, you've really bought a lot" he begins to marvel shortly afterwards as he takes a quick look inside the bags.
"Knowing you, you'll need quite a selection to build the perfect gingerbread house."
Of course, this was only half the truth, because you hadn't really been able to make up your mind in the store, so you ended up buying the whole selection, but of course you wouldn't reveal this to Jack.
"You know me well." Your boyfriend presses a gentle kiss to your lips before sitting down on the stool next to you and you start to unpack all the candy canes, cookies, chocolate and other treats for the gingerbread house together.
After you have filled everything into countless bowls to keep track of all the decorations for your gingerbread houses, you take out the gingerbread houses that Jack discovered a few weeks ago while shopping.
"I guess it's more tactical if we decorate all the individual pieces beforehand and glue the pieces of the houses together at the end, right?" Jack asks you as he starts to mix the icing so you can use it as a kind of glue to stick the sweets to the gingerbread pieces.
"Sounds good. Let's make a competition out of it," you suggest as you break off a piece of candy cane and then pop it in your mouth.
"Sounds good. What do you have in mind?" Jack asks enthusiastically.
"We'll both finish our houses and in the end your followers will decide which house is the most beautiful. Without knowing who owns which one, of course. And the winner won't have to do any laundry for a month."
"Deal" Jack holds his hand out to you without hesitation, which you grab and start to shake. "But before we get started, we need to get in the right musical mood."
Jack reaches for his cell phone, which he connects to the Bluetooth box and shortly afterwards his Christmas playlist starts to play and you begin to decorate your houses.
- -
"Wow. You've really gone to a lot of trouble," Jack marvels as he starts to look at your gingerbread house.
A proud smile forms on your lips. Over the last hour, it really has taken you a lot of nerve and sweat to get the house just the way you imagined it.
You used the icing to add a few roof tiles and details, while the little candy canes served as fences and your few sweets were used to decorate the gingerbread house.
Jack's gingerbread house, on the other hand, had a roof made entirely of colored candy canes, while a large candy cane stood in front of his house and countless little chocolate snowmen stood around his colorful front yard, which was also covered with candy canes.
"Yours isn't bad either. I think it's going to be a close race" you say honestly, while Jack agrees with you and then starts to take a photo of your gingerbread houses.
"Luckily, my followers will decide who wins." Jack starts typing on his phone and shortly afterwards the story is online as a vote.
"Now we have to wait. And we'll tidy up in the meantime."
Stretching, you get up from the stool and start to feel your back ache slightly from sitting so much that you briefly grimace.
"I could do with a massage right now," you half-joke as you look over at Jack, who starts to massage his neck.
"Not such a bad idea. Those bar stools are incredibly uncomfortable."
Jack reaches his hand into the Skittels and shovels the whole hand of Skittels into his mouth and begins to chew with relish.
"You're impossible," you say with a giggle.
"That's why you love me." Jack gently pulls you towards him by the hips so that you put your hands on the back of his neck and look up at him.
"Let's see if I still love you when I lose and have to do the laundry for a month," you reply with a cheeky grin on your lips.
"Hm, you probably don't have to worry about that."
Jack holds his cell phone in front of you with the story of the vote, which clearly shows that you're leading.
Cheering, you throw your arms up in the air, whereupon Jack just starts to grumble.
"Haha! Looks like the laundry is yours for a month!" you giggle happily. "Tell your followers I love them, Jack Hughes!"
"Do you love them more than me?" he almost pouts as he pulls back against you again, since your cheering has caused you to move away from him.
"I don't love anyone more than you," you assure him and press a gentle kiss to his lips, which taste of skitles and icing.

Reader comforting aegon cuz he's just so broken after the treatment he's been through 🤠
A Lovers Comfort
Tumblr media
Character: Aegon Targaryen (HOTD)
Warnings/Notes: mentions of parental neglect/abuse, Viserys slander, mild Alicent slander (i love her tho), soft hubby Aegon, your Rhaenyra's daughter (you can chose adopted or not), war doesnt happen, aemond still looses his eye.
Tumblr media
When you where first told you where to marry Aegon you were worried to say the least. Having heard many stories from your brothers and mother, not to mention the not so fond memories of him when you were all kids. But it had been years now, surely he had matured into a man? Perhaps he hadn't with the outrage you could see of your mother's face, your whole family's faces.
Yes, your mother had long ago proposed Jace marry Helaena, to solidify the bonds between the greens and blacks. But to her this? This was different. You were her baby, her only girl and she couldn't let them take you from her. Make you bare his children. No she had to stop this.
Which led to now, all of you on dragon back heading to kingslanding. Your mother and Daemon leading on Syrax and Caraxes, while you and your brothers followed. Being greeted by the king and queen upon landing you remained silent as you were all led inside.
There you watched as your mother and Daemon enter the council meetings room along with the king and Alicent, Your brothers being sent to the training grounds and Aemond accompanying his wife, Helaena back to their chambers with a soft nod to you. Leaving you alone with a half drunken Aegon.
"You don't want me." he laughs, deeply amused at the scrunch of you face when he slumps in the seat next to you. "You've never liked me, no one does"
Rolling your eyes you take the wine from his hand, pushing him back in his seat. "Your family likes you Aegon, your mother, surely" your voice is short, seemingly bored of his presence already. Not something he's unused to.
"No.. They don't like me" It comes out soft, and barely audible but you hear him. It makes you turn slightly, staring at him unsure of how to proceed. Your heart aches and you find yourself reaching for his hands, the action makes him look up unshed tears filling his eyes.
"Father does not care for me, us. he spent so long wanting sons and dreamers yet now he finds himself with two songs and a dreamer in my sister and he still views your mother as his only child." You wince at that, sure you had seen it growing up you weren't blind to the kings dismissal of his children or fondness of your mother. you had no idea just how little he cared.
"Your mother must love you though, i've seen her with Aemond she seems rather loving?" Your carful with your words not wanting to offend your prince its his laugh that startles you. "I am no son of hers, she made that clear after aemond lost his eye. He and Helaena are all that she cares for. I'm just her drunken, ungrateful son."
You understand him now, understand his anger, his drinking. He's hurt and lost and crying out for help when no ones bothered to listen. You feel yourself move towards him, unsure why, you pull him into a hug.
He nuzzles his head into your neck and releases a breath he didn't know he was holding, letting his eyes close and his body relax in your hold. "I'll marry you." his head shoots up at your words, confused as to why you would give your life to him. "But, reduce the drinking. You don't have to stop, just drink less okay?"
"Okay." He smiles then, a true genuine smile and you lean down to press a soft kiss to his nose laughing when he scrunches up his face in protest. "Good. I'll hold you to that."
Feeling him hum against you, you move to run your hands through his hair. "Ser Christen, please in form my mother and the rest of the council that the meeting need not proceed as Aegon and I are accepting the terms of our betrothal."
"Of course Princess."

You can't flirt with her (USWNT x Reader, Christen Press x Reader
I don't know where this came from, it was a random idea that I ran with so I hope you enjoy it!
Words: 2k
It was my first time at camp. I wasn't as nervous as I expected, maybe because Christen was with me and we got to share a room. We had been dating for a little over two years now and we lived together. The team didn't know about us yet, we had decided to let the team get to know me first before telling them. I knew it was going to be hard, I was very attracted to her which meant I was very cuddly and flirty.
I thought maybe I had messed up pretty much as soon as camp started. Christen was wearing jeans and a blouse that just looked amazing on her. The compliment had just slipped out.
"You look amazing."
Christen blushed before giving me a look, "Thank you."
The looks we got from the team made me want to laugh. They were a mix between surprise and glares. Probably because they knew Christen had a girlfriend. When I was pulled aside by Tobin and Ashlyn, I knew they hadn't caught on.
"Hey, just wanted to give you a heads up, she has a girlfriend, you can't be flirting with her."
"I'm not. I like to hype people up when I can, but I'll make sure not to flirt with her."
"Good."
By time the next camp came around, I had gotten to know the team pretty well and they seemed to like me. During the last camp, I had been careful of how I interacted with Christen. The team knew we were close, but I hadn't flirted with her or anything that obviously gave away our relationship. Christen and I had decided that we would tell them this camp, although I had convinced her to let me have some fun before we did. The team had pulled a lot of pranks on me last camp so I just wanted to get a little payback.
I decided to start out slow, complementing her more and light touches as I passed her or sat next to her. Christen would blush and lean into me. I loved that even after two years, I still had that effect on her. The girls however had given me looks and started asking about Christens girlfriend more when I was around. I just had to resist the urge to laugh every time they did. Christen on the other hand would answer the questions with a smile on her face, a smile mixed with love and amusement. As much as Christen told me off or felt mean putting the girls through this, I knew she found it at least a bit funny.
Some of the girls cornered Christen one day when they thought I wasn't around, "Why are you letting her flirt with you? It's not right, you have a girlfriend."
I watched Christen shrug, wondering how she was going to respond, "She's not flirting with me, she's just being friendly. It's how she is."
"Yeah right. She's never like that with us."
"Just drop it. She knows I have a girlfriend and I know when things get too friendly."
"Okay."
Next, I started kissing her cheek or wrapping my arm around her when we stood or sat next to her. We would also cuddle up during movie nights. Such as right now, it was team bonding and I had my head resting in Christens lap as she played with my hair. There were only two days left of camp so everyone was trying to get as much time with each other before we left. Myself included. I had grown to like the team, but I also wouldn't see Christen for a few weeks once camp ended. I was going to Texas to see my family while Christen had to go back home for prior commitments.
"So what were those noises coming from your room last night?"
I cursed myself for not keeping Christen more quiet during last nights activities, not just because it would make them think we slept together which we did, but also out of respect. They didn't need to hear that, "Nothing."
"It sounded awfully like sex, please tell me you two didn't sleep together," Ashlyn asked bluntly, staring me down.
"Of course not. As you keep reminding me, she has a girlfriend. Not that it's really your business, but I met a girl, Christen spent an hour or so in the hotel garden talking to said girlfriend while I had some fun."
They didn't seem to buy it, but dropped the topic, starting up other conversations. I heard parts of the different conversations, although the one about us not sharing a room next time, made me want to laugh. This was way more entertaining then I had expected. After a few minutes Christen got my attention, whispering in my ear, "I think they're getting seriously concerned about our growing relationship."
I smirked, "Wait until they find out how much time I spend between your legs."
"Y/n!"
The team looked at us, eyebrows furrowing, I just shrugged turning back to Christen, "What? It's true."
Once the girls stopped paying attention, Christen spoke again, "Do you think we should just tell them?"
"We will. Maybe tomorrow though. Let me enjoy the fun for a little bit longer."
---
Every time Christen went down on the pitch, it sent fear through every part of my being. The longer she was down, the more terrified I got and the harder it was to stop myself from running to her during a game whether I was watching or playing with her. Seeing as it was a practice, I didn't stop myself from running to her side, beating the medical team there and lacing my fingers with hers, "Chris! Chris are you okay?"
She groaned, "I'm okay. I think I hit my head a little bit and my shoulder might be bruised, but I'm okay."
I scanned over her for any obvious injuries or blood, relaxing slightly when I didn't find anything. Christen squeezed my hand, "Seriously Y/n/n, I'm okay. Help me up?"
I carefully helped her up before kissing her temple and hugging her tightly, allowing myself to relax knowing she was okay, "Ow, careful. Bruised remember?"
"Sorry."
"That is definitely not how friends react," I heard from behind me, but I was too focused on Christen to do anything about it. Coach called off practice early seeing it was the last day of camp. I helped Christen back to the locker room, not that she needed it, but I was worried which turned into overprotectiveness. The girls were giving me looks, but right now I didn't care.
We managed to sneak away when I helped her to the shower. Christen cupped my cheek, pecking my lips quickly, "Stop worrying, I'm okay. I might be a bit sore, but it's nothing I can't handle and nothing a bath later won't fix. Now go get cleaned up while I shower."
The girls gave me a look when I came back out, but I ignored them again. Things had happened in the past that made me really struggle when people I cared for got hurt. I hated when people I loved got hurt, accident or not, but when it came to the person I loved most in this world, that worry didn't go away easily. I felt myself getting annoyed when they wouldn't stop staring at me, so I stood up, deciding to wait to shower and wait outside instead. It was always harder to control my temper after Christen got hurt, "Didn't your parents ever teach you it's rude to stare?"
Ten minutes later, the team filed out to the bus. I had my headphones in, ignoring them as I sat at the back of the bus. Christen sat with Tobin, but looked back at me occasionally. My phone buzzed with a text from Christen.
Chris <3 : Stop being grumpy. I know you get like this after someone get's hurt, but I'm okay so stop it. It wasn't their fault. Enjoy the last day at camp, think you can do that for me?
Y/n: Yes ma'am. I need a shower when we get back.
Christen just replied with a winky emoji and went back to her conversation with Tobin. I couldn't help the small smile that stretched across my face. I noticed Tobin watching me before my phone buzzed again. This time it was a group chat with me, Tobin and Christen.
Tobin: You're Chris's girlfriend aren't you?
Y/n: About time someone figured it out. What finally got you to make the connection?
Tobin: Christen was texting her girlfriend and I noticed the smile on your face. I just kinda assumed. Why didn't you just tell us?
Y/n: Well you guys pranked me so much the first camp, I wanted payback. Chris just went along with it. She'll deny it, but she found it amusing.
Chris: Never! I'm sorry I didn't tell you Tobin, we just wanted you guys to get to know her before you knew.
Tobin: Don't be, I understand. When are you going to tell the rest of the team? They're convinced you two are sleeping together and Chris is cheating on her girlfriend.
Y/n: They'll find out tomorrow, one last show ;)
Chris: Don't ask, I don't even know
---
Camp had officially ended which meant it was time for me to leave Christen for a few weeks. We had been apart for longer, but I would still miss her like crazy. I was leaning against the wall waiting for Christen while talking to the team. Christen walked up, standing across from me. I laced my fingers with hers, pulling her in and connecting our lips. Christen looped her arms around my shoulders as I pulled away, nuzzling my nose against her neck, "I'm going to miss you."
"I'll miss you too. It's only a few weeks baby, we'll be okay."
Christen was pulled away by Ali with a glare meant to kill, "Okay that's enough, Christen you have a fucking girlfriend, one you're about to go home to yet here you are making out with someone else. I never expected you to be this type of person Chris."
The laugh I tried to stop at how mad they looked slipped out making Ali and Alyssa glared at me, "What? You think being someone's mistress is funny?"
I cleared my throat, trying to remove the smile that had formed, "Of course not."
They crossed their arms, glares getting worse somehow, "We told you she had a girlfriend."
"I know, but-"
"No buts, you don't go after someone who's already taken."
"Can we not do a lecture now please? I want to enjoy my time with Chris before I go."
"Don't do dumb shit then. You crossed a line Y/n, you both did."
"Okay, okay I get it. She's just so attractive, amazing, smart-"
"But she has a girlfriend!"
At this point I was starting to wonder how smart they actually were. I knew they didn't know about me before, but I really thought they knew Christen better than that and would put it together. Christen was the most loyal and faithful person there was, she would never cheat on someone.
"I am very aware. I know her girlfriend very well."
"How?"
"Well, I've known her girlfriend for about 30 years, shower, dress and feed her everyday, see her in the mirror everyday. Do I really have to keep going for you guys to take the hint? Let's see what I see her girlfriend do. I- I mean she wakes up next to her almost everyday, plays with her hair when she can't sleep, makes her dance with her when work is getting too much because no matter her mood it always makes her smile, I tell her stupid stories to ma-"
Ali groaned loudly, pushing my shoulder, "Oh you bastard. You are her girlfriend. Why didn't you just tell us that? Why put us through that?"
"Sorry, you guys are just fun to mess with. We wanted you to get to know me before you knew. It was also a bit of payback after all the pranks I got last camp. I honestly thought you would realise. Can I go back to kissing my girlfriend before I don't see her for weeks please?"

❄️ WOSO FICMAS: Dec. 15 - Christen Press❄️
Christen Press x Reader (USWNT & Gotham) | WC: 574
Dec. 15 prompt - date night looking at Christmas lights/decorations
-> woso ficmas masterlist can be found here!
Playing in the NWSL was fun for the most part, you were close to home and it was easier to spend time with Christen. While you played on opposite sides of the country, it was easier to travel between California and New York than to a different country.
You and Christen had decided to spend part of the Christmas holidays in New York this year, having spent every other Christmas in LA. With Christen’s injury, you didn’t want to push her in the things the two of you did when you went out but she was insistent on seeing New York in its Christmas glory.
This is how you found yourself walking through a neighborhood in Brooklyn that was known for its Christmas decorations. Christen’s hand held tightly in yours as you walked down the sidewalk, taking in the sights of all the colorful lights and life-sized decorations.
“Babe! Look at the Santa!” the forward gasped, eyes wide as she pointed at a very large Santa display that included a sleigh and the reindeer.
“That would take up my entire apartment,” you joked, but you weren't entirely wrong.
Christen laughed as you two kept walking, still having many houses to see. As you kept walking, the lights were reflecting across Christen’s face and you couldn’t help but focus on her. You were pulled from your thoughts when Christen pulled your hand suddenly, trying to keep you from running to someone.
“Gotta watch where you're going, babe!” Christen giggled, pulling you into her side.
“I was distracted by the pretty view,” you flirted, sending her a quick wink.
Christen’s face flushed at your comment, and she turned her head quickly so you couldn’t see the blush spreading across her cheeks. It was your turn to giggle as you pulled away from her, forcing her to stop under a brightly lit arch at the end of a driveway.
The forward raised an eyebrow at your sudden stop but all she got in return was a bright smile from you. You took her face in your hands, pulling her into an intense kiss. It was short but full of love, wanting her to feel how in love with her you were.
When you pulled away, your smile was just as bright as you tilted her head up slightly so she could see the mistletoe that had been hung.
“You gotta kiss under the mistletoe, baby. It's the rules,” you said, jokingly shrugging your shoulders.
Christen had a bright smile on her face as she leaned for one more quick kiss before you two started walking down the sidewalk once again. You walked past a few more houses before deciding you needed to head back to your place for the night.
You hailed a cab, giving the driver your address as you slid into the back seat. Your hand never left Christen’s for the whole drive home, only letting go briefly for you to pay and tip your cab driver.
The two of you settled in for the night pretty quickly, needing to get a lot of rest for the upcoming days. Christen had taken it upon herself to plan out multiple date nights surrounding Christmas in the city to truly experience the holidays in New York. While most of the things she had planned weren't new to you, you didn't care since it meant you got to see her all excited to experience what you've already experienced.

Secrets & Lies (Christen Press x reader)
Tumblr media
Based of this request.
A/N: This is the longest fic I have ever written with 11,599 words. I hope it isn’t too long and that you all like it. One more thing, ANGST!!!
You had been keeping a secret since the day you were born. Only a few people knew about it and that's because someone else told them but at what point does a secret turn into a lie?
You spent your childhood having bi yearly surgeries but they were only temporary fixes until the doctors felt your heart was strong enough to take the stress of a more complicated surgery. This came when you were 15, it meant you could play the sport you love, and to the naked eye your condition was non existent as long as you took your medication. It wouldn't be the last surgery you had, in fact the doctors told both you and your mom that they would have to do the same surgery again in around 10 years.
It resulted in you learning to live one day at a time and you never looked too far into the future but you couldn't ignore the fact that every year is one step closing to needing a second surgery. So when you turned 25 you couldn't help but feel like you were on borrowed time. Two years after that, the hospital visits became a monthly occurrence in order to keep an eye on your condition and your doctor was surprised that your heart was holding up well and it was but that feeling of being healthy soon came to a halt.
First came the shortness in breath followed by the chest pains, they are symptoms that you are all too familiar with. At first it was manageable but then it got hard to hide the toll it was taking on your body.
"Are you ok kid?" you feel a hand rest on the small of your back as you bend over in attempt to catch your breath after a sprinting drill.
"It's getting worse" you look up at your captain Christine Sinclair "I'll be ok, I have to be. The olympics are around the corner and I can't miss them" the panic in your voice sparks concern within the Canadian.
"Ok, ok, calm down. We will handle this like have in the past, just me, you and the doctors. Have you told Tobin or any of the others how bad it's getting?" you shake your head "Maybe it's time you tell Christen. The two of you have been tog—“
“No! Christen doesn't need to know"
"And when will she? When she is calling an ambulance?"
Christine Sinclair had many abilities and the one you hated the most was how well she showed tough love.
"No Christen and no Tobin. This is my fight and I know how to handle it" you know that the conversation is no where near over but you don't have the energy to talk about it and you don't want to risk the rest of the team hearing you.
At first only you and the Portland Thorns team doctor knew about your heart condition but then your mom told Christine when the thorns were playing Gotham. She wanted someone to know about it in case you were to have an episode. They didn't happen all that often, especially as you got older, but when they did come they were bad.
Portland were in Houston playing the dash before the players would go to their respective national teams. It meant that you had to pack for 3 weeks away. You made your checklist, packed your bag and then went through the list twice, you had everything.
The Thorns ended up beating the dash 3-1 with goals coming from you, Tobin and Lynsey so when you arrived at camp you were all in fantastic moods although yours could have something to do with the fact that you would be seeing Christen for the first time in a month.
As you enter the reception you are told that you are the last to arrive and the team are in the conference room handing out room assignments. As you enter the room you eyes eagerly search for your girlfriend but she isn’t there, worry starts to set in and you nudge tobin who in suit shrugs her shoulders. So her girlfriend and best friend didn’t know where she was. You are just about to raise your hand to ask the question when you feel two arms snake around your waist.
“Looking me for” Christen says quietly as not to interrupt Jill.
You remove one of her hands and place a kiss on the back of it.
“I better not be sharing with Kelley again” You tip your head back to rest on her shoulder.
“You’ll be happy to know I persuaded Jill to let us room together but you have to be on your best behaviour”
“Me!” You turn to face Christen. Your increased volume becoming apparent when Jill calls you out.
“Is there something you would like to share with the team” Jill encourages you to speak up.
"Nothing she can repeat in front of the youngens, right Y/N?" Kelley teases.
The defender knows that you will bite straight away if the teasing had to do with your relationship, more so what goes on behind close doors. You are on the verge of retaliating when Christen places her hand over your mouth.
"Sorry coach, continue" Christen tells Jill.
The team meeting runs a little big longer than you had hoped. Jill taking this time to discuss the basic plan for the camp as well as assigning rooms and then reassigning them when she gets complaints.
You and Christen waste no time in making up for being away from each other. It might have been a few years since the two of you started dating but the way she makes you feel never failed to catch you off guard. The connection you shared reminded you of fireworks and no matter how many times they went off you always jumped.
The two of you cuddled in bed, covered in nothing but the white hotel bed sheets. Christen's head rested on your chest whilst her hand traced shapes on your stomach.
"Your heart feels like it is about to beat out of your chest" whilst Christen jokes it is a reason for concern to you.
You think about it for a second. The Thorns schedule has been gruelling recently and you knew that you were putting stress on your heart but it was fine, you were taking your medication then it hit you, you hadn't taken it this morning.
"My heart will always skip a beat for you" you stare up at the ceiling in fear that Christen will see your pain if she looks you in the eyes.
The pair of you get ready for training all whilst worry starts to sink deeper into your thoughts. Christen knew you took several supplements in a morning but she didn't know what they were and you wanted to keep it this way. When you are on your way down to the lobby you see your chance.
"I'll meet you down there. I forget to take my vitamins" You daren't use the word medication because you know it will cause her to worry. It's the reason why she has no idea about your condition. You saw what the worry did to your mom growing up and you wouldn't put that on your girlfriend.
Luckily Christen doesn't ask any questions and she doesn't follow you back to the room. By the time she gets to the lobby the whole team is there ready and waiting.
"What, no Y/N?" Pinoe asks her fellow forward.
"She forgot her vitamins" Christen says fully unaware of the looks that are shared between Emily and Tobin.
Emily tips her head towards the elevator and Tobin picks up on what she is suggesting.
You are rummaging through your bag hoping that you will find your medication but it is no where to be found. You thought you packed enough for the Thorns trip and the national camp but you hadn't. You didn't know what to do, you knew that if you told Dawn about it she would have you benched and that couldn't happen because you were playing Canada and the team needed you. The sound of someone knocking at the door pulls you out of your head. At first you ignore them, you had more important things going on right now and the person on the other side of the threshold could wait but the knocking continued only louder and more persistently.
"Y/N let me in"
Tobin, just the person you both wanted to see and did not want to see. When she enters she recognises the panic on your face immediately.
"You forgot?" Her tone reminds you of your mom and you didn't care for it.
"I'm fine now" It was a lie but you didn't have a choice  "I'm just tidying up. You know how much of a neat freak Chris is"
You had been taking this medication for 12 years surely you built up enough strength to live without it for a week.
Training was tough to say the least but you chalked it down to the Arizona heat. Tobin kept a close eye on you and even went out of her way to partner up with you during drills which pissed you off more because you wanted to work with Christen. Dawn watched you from the sidelines and at first you didn't think anything of it until you saw her whispering in Jill's ear.
When the coach calls you over in the middle of scrimmage, it gains the attention of the entire team. Players only ever got called out of a game when they were in trouble but Jill eyes wasn't filled with anger, they were filled with pity and your suspicions were confirmed when you saw Dawn mouth 'i'm sorry'.
"Do I need to be worried?" Jill asked.
Here's the thing with Jill. You know she knows and she knows you know she knows but the two of you have never spoken about it. She keeps an eye on you during training and Dawn let's her know if there is a reason for concern.
"No. I forgot to take my medication this morning so it's taking a little bit longer for it to work"
Another lie.
"You were struggling out there and don't say it's because of the heat. I have seen you when we play in Australia and you aren't phased at all"
"I'm already feeling better. Watch and you will see that I am fine" you shut down the conversation before it can go any further.
When you're back on the pitch you score within seconds and dedicate your goal to your coach with an arrogant salute. Instead of it making her believe you're healthy, your celebration makes Jill think the opposite. You are trying too hard to show her you are ok.
The next couple of days are more difficult than you would like to admit. You were tempted to ask for a personal day and fly back to Portland but it would lead to more questions and you were trying to keep your amount of lies to a minimum.
With game day getting closer and closer, you begin easing off the physical side of preparation. You took a back seat in training and when asked about it you stated that as your role as captain you want to use this time to pass on your knowledge to the younger players.
When it comes to the afternoon lift session, Dawn pulls you aside and tells you that you will be working alone. She puts you on the treadmill whilst the rest of the team focus on the weights. Her attempt at testing your fitness isn't as subtle as she hopes.
"Wait, why is Y/N the only one doing a fitness test?" Tobin asks. Christen wants to know the same thing. She had seen the change in your behaviour over the past couple of days. It happened in the blink of an eye, one minute your the confident player the world loved the next you are on the sidelines trying to catch your breath like a rookie.
"Because I am the fastest on the team and Dawn wants to see if I can improve my stats from last camp"
Your girlfriend buys it, Tobin on the other hand isn't so easy to persuade. In the end she walks away but not before talking to Sonnet who looks at you and shakes her head.
Great! You aren't well and now you have pissed off the two people that could out you to the entire team.
"I've seen you watching me and I'm fine but if I am sick then I will get worse by doing this" you whisper in Dawn's ear before setting the treadmill to 15 where you begin sprinting as if you have a perfectly good heart.
By the end of the treadmill test you can barely breathe. Dawn helps you to chair before getting you a bottle of water. You hear her shout of Christen and within seconds your girlfriend is by your side.
"Y/N breathe for me" Christen begs. She had never seen you this out of breath.
"It hurts" you clasp both of your hands over your chest. This couldn't be happening, not here, not now.
"What's going on with her?" Christen asks dawn.
"She is--" Dawn tries to answer but Tobin and Sonnet come running over.
"She took an elbow to the chest in our last game and it's causing her some problems" Tobin tells her.
"She'll be fine. Here, use this" Sonnet gives you an ice pack knowing that it helps with your chest pains.
Your hands shake whilst you hold the cold block to your chest, so much so that Christen ends up taking it from you.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Christen asks.
When you look to Christen you see the hurt you are causing her and this is because she didn't know about a tackle that didn't happen. In a matter of seconds you go from feeling pain to feeling guilty.
“I—" part of you tries to tell her the truth, even it it's only a half truth.
"It's best if she doesn't talk" Tobin cuts in.
Dawn tells you that you're done for the day and that Christen should take you back to your room. Your girlfriend talks to the performance coach in hopes that she can tell her what to do to make you feel better.
"I don't know what's going on with you but you cannot tell her when you're like this. She will think you’re ill" Tobin whispers in your ear.
"That's because I am ill and I always will be. She deserves to be with someone who isn't a burden" your breathing begins to even out.
"Y/N don't do anything stupid. You trust us with your secret, you can trust her too"
"No, my mom trusted you. I didn't want people to know because they look at me like—“
"Like what"
"Like that" you point at both of the friends "Like I'm broken"
Walking away you feel their eyes burning into the back of your head but you don't look back. Christen stands near the door with her hand extended waiting for you to take it.
Once back in your room Christen goes straight into the bathroom and begins running the bath. It is something that calmed the two of you but funnily enough you haven't done it whilst being at camp. Your girlfriend comes back out to find you laid back on the bed, your eyes closed with one hand on your chest. She can just about hear you counting your breaths.
"Join me" Christen says from the door way but she doesn't get an answer, you don't even move.
"Baby, come join me" the softness in her tone when she calls you the name that made you feel like you're the only girl in the world gets your attention.
"I think i'm just going to lay here for a while"
"Look at me" your girlfriend demands and upon doing so see her standing there in nothing but her underwear "I wasn't asking"
The smirk that pulls at your lips in uncontrollable. The sight you saw had the power to bring to your knees and the past had proven that.
"Then I won't say no" you stand and remove your shorts and as you walk towards her you remove your top.
Christen is the first to get into the bath and she slides forward so that you can slip in behind her. She grabs your arms, wraps them around her and then covers your arms with her own.
"I love you Christen Press" you place a kiss to her jawline "but if something were to happen to me then I want you to move on" you feel a tear roll down your cheek but you cannot wipe it away "Please don't waste your years mourning me and don't be afraid to open your heart to another. You wouldn't be betraying me and although i'll be gone, i'll always be with you, in here" you place your hand over her heart.
"Y/N--" Christens shifts her weight.
"Don't look at me"
This was strange. You and Christen are very open about your feelings and aren't scared to be vulnerable around each other but whenever you shared these moments you wanted to feel as close to her as possible which lead to the two of you having eye contact.
"You are my one true love Y/N Y/L/N and should the worse happen, that will never change. I cannot make a promise to move on because I am not in control of my heart but I will promise to let love in should it come to me"
"I will love you Christen until my last day on earth and then long into the afterlife"
This time you don't stop her as she turns in the water so her legs are either side of you. You craved her touch and reassurance that everything would be ok only she couldn't tell you that. That night Christen makes you forget about how this pain in your chest has ended in the past and you don't think twice about whether you future is going to last a year or ten years.
Game day came on day 5 without your medication and you were starting to regret not going home to get them. Sleep had become nothing more than a long nap and every time you ran it felt like a marathon. Still you had been able to downplay your struggles and Jill put you in the starting 11 despite being concerned about you.
You knew there was one person you couldn't fool and you did your best to avoid her until the whistle. At the pitch inspection you stayed away from the Canadians but you saw Christine staring at you from a distance, by the look on her face you knew she knew. When she tipped her head towards the tunnel so she could speak with you, you shook your head.
"You should go see her" Christen nudges towards where your club captain is standing.
"And fraternise with the enemy. I would much rather fraternise with you" you whisper in her ear.
It seems that Christen buys your distraction as she doesn't bring it up again even when Christine waits by the locker room after the warm ups.
You think you have managed to evade your friend's questioning but when you stand in the line waiting to go out you have a bad feeling in your gut so when Christine walks by you grab her arm and pull her back towards you.
"I didn't bring enough medication with me" you confess.
Up until now you haven't been scared but the look Christine gives makes you feel just that.
"How long?" she keeps her reply short given the crowd of players that surround you.
"5 days" You see Christine eye up Jill as she walks past "No, don't. I can handle this game but you need to know if case something happens"
"What makes you think that?"
You bring you hand to your chest "gut feeling" you reply.
Once gain Christine's expression changes and the worry is not something she can hide. She pulls you into her arms and whispers in you ear.
"I know you can handle it especially when playing so be smart out there kid"
And that is exactly what you do or at least for the first 50 minutes it is. All of sudden you feel your chest tighten and you feet give way underneath you as your body goes into fight or flight response. You do everything in your power to fight but it is too hard. Within seconds you are laid out of the floor, instead of your heart beating rapidly it is slow, too slow.
"Y/N, what's wrong?" Christen kneels beside you.
Your eyes lock onto her, she is the reason why you want to fight but your lack of response does more harm than good. The team don't know what is happening so they don't call the medics over.
"Is it your heart?" Tobin asks having no care in the world about who hears her.
"What's wrong with her heart? Is this about the knock you took?"
You had been dreading this moment but somehow it has turned out worse than you imagined.
"I'm" you take a deep breathe "sorry"
"Why are you sorry? Tobin what is she sorry for? What is going on?"
Tobin looks at you and you use whatever energy you have left to shake your head.
"Sincy" you look at Tobin and she understands what you want but she doesn't want to leave your side.
Emily picks up on this "It's ok, i'll get her"
The defender turns to get your team mate only to see the opposing captain already running over.
"Move out of my way" Christine pushes her way through the white shirts.
"Sincy, it hurts" tears start to fall as fear begins to set in.
"Tobin get your medics now"
Christine looks at your team mates but her gaze ultimately falls on your girlfriend who looks petrified. Christen has one of your hands in hers, squeezing it so tightly that part of your fingers have turned white.
"I don't want to die" your words earn gasps from your team mates. Some of the Portland players are trying to hold back from crying as they know what this could mean.
"You're not going to die" Christen places a kiss to the back of your hand "Why would you die? You can't die. Christine" Christen looks up to the older player only to see her holding Tobin in her arms as she tries to console her "Tobin" at the sight on her best friend in tears she knows that something much bigger is going on.
The medics come running onto the pitch and in that very moment you realise that the secret you have kept for the last 27 years is about to come to light. When one of them starts asking question you know that you don't have it in you to answer them,  a mixture of not wanting to and not having the ability to.
"She has a heart defect and hasn't been taking her medication" Christine says when she realises you wouldn't say it. Your club captain proceeds to explain your condition in detail as well as your medical history.
"No" Christen shouts "She is fine, tell them you're fine Y/N. You're not sick, you just took a knock in your last game. I know you're not sick because you would have told me, we don't have secrets" tears are flowing freely down your girlfriends face.
"Y/N" Christen whispers when she feels your hand slowly loosen it's grip from her own.
"I don't want to die. I wan’t—" your breathing hitches once again as your bodies tries to inhale a much oxygen as possible.
"Baby, no" Christen leans forward and rests her forehead against yours.
"I'm sorry. I love you" those are are the last words you say and Christen is the last thing you see before it goes black.
"She's going into cardiac arrest. I need everyone to back up so we can try and save her life" One of the doctors say as the other one sprints away in search of the defibrillator.
"No, i'm not leaving her" Christen holds onto your unconscious form. It is only when Ashlyn pulls her away does she let go and begins sobbing into her friends arms.
The team stand there, helpless, as they watch the medics try to resuscitate you. All of them feeling a mixture of emotions. Some are angry at you, why didn't you tell them things had got this bad. Others feel guilty having known nothing about your condition, they begin wondering if the signs where there and they had just been too ignorant to see them.
Christen feels every emotion under the sun but the strongest one of them all is rage. You were her girlfriend and not only did you keep this from her, her best friend did too. You were the two people she trusted the most in the world yet today made it clear that trust wasn't reciprocated.
You are loaded into an Ambulance and taken the the nearest hospital. Christen is asked if she wants to go with you but she says no. The game gets suspended and the teams head back into their locker rooms. The US players planned on getting changed and heading straight to you.
The atmosphere in the locker room is something that neither of them have experienced before.
"You knew!" Christen shouts at Tobin.
"Chris" Pinoe tries to pull your girlfriend towards her locker but fails.
"No, I deserve an answer. My girlfriend was sick and you didn't tell me"
"It wasn't my secret to tell Christen. She made us promise not to tell you"
Tobin's words didn't exactly instil faith and calmness in her friend.
"Us?" Christen takes a step back and she scans the locker room. Now that's she is looking, it is very obvious who knew and who didn't "Emily, Lindsey. You knew too" Christen couldn't believe it.
"I didn't know things has gotten this bad. Y/N has episodes but she handles them on her own" Emily tells her.
"She doesn't like to talk about it" Lindsey adds.
"And Christine Sinclair knew" It isn't a question. The woman's action on the pitch made it obvious that she is very aware of your condition.
"I did"
Turning around Christen comes face to face with the women she was talking about.
"I have known since the beginning" the invisible spotlight that was placed on Christine made her nervous "I'm going to the hospital. Come with me and I will tell you everything"
Christen quickly replaces her boots with a pair of trainers, grabs a jacket and follows your captain.
Christen sat in the hospital waiting room alone. The seats either side of her remained empty because although her teammates wanted to support their friend, they knew it was just as important to give her space. It didn't make sense at first, you being ill, but then she begins replaying some of your recent conversations. Obviously the one you shared in the bath a few nights prior wasn't as hypothetical as Christen thought. Did you really think that Christen could move on from you?
"Family of Y/N Y/L/N"
Upon hearing your name the entire USWNT flock towards to the man clad in scrubs.
"I'm her girlfriend" Christen says as she stands directly in front of him.
"I'm sorry her file says to only discuss medical matters with direct family or Christine Sinclair, is that you?"
Christen couldn't believe what she is hearing. Even when you are in god knows what condition you are still determined to keep this from her.
"That's me. This is Christen Press and you can discuss Y/N's condition with her" Your friend has had enough of your secrets, Christen deserves the know the truth and at this point she knew that you could no longer hide it but that you would still try.
"Unfortunately Y/N coded again on the way here. Her heart had to work overdrive just to beat regularly and in the end it couldn't take it"
"No, She" your girlfriend couldn't believe what she was hearing "She can't die"
"She's alive Miss Press" The doctor confirmed "What I meant is that her heart couldn't take it which lead to the incident during your game. I spoke with her doctor in Portland and we agreed that minor surgery was needed until she can have a full exam when she returns home. Y/N is in recovery right now for observation then we will move her to a private room. I will have someone come get you when she is allowed visitors"
Christen stands frozen in her spot. Her mind, body and soul had grieved your death twice now even if it wasn't permanent.
"This is a good thing Chris" Tobin ignores the looks she gets as she talks to her best friend.
"How is this good Tobin? She almost died, no she did die. I lost her"
Tobin tries to pull Christen into a hug but she fights it. She takes her anger, which is rightly or wrongly is aimed at you, out on Tobin before surrendering.
"How could she not tell me Tobin? I'm suppose to be her person, she tells me she loves me yet—“
Christen is cut off before she can finish her sentence.
"You really don't get it do you" Christine says. After speaking to the doctor she found a seat near your Portland team mates "Y/N does love you more than you realise. It is the reason why she hasn't told you. I know that doesn't make sense but it does in her mind. Y/N has never told anyone about her heart condition"
"That's not true. You know, Tobin, Lynsey, Emily and I guess Becky knows, oh and dawn too, maybe even jill"
"You're right but that's not because Y/N told us. Her mom is reason why we know. She told us for this exact reason, in case something happens to her daughter and she isn't there to help her. In Y/N’s eyes she was protecting you by not telling you"
"That does sound like Y/N" Ashlyn sees sense in what the Canadian is saying.
"It doesn't make it ok"
"No it doesn't and for what it's worth Tobin has been begging Y/N to tell you since you started dating" Christine comes to her team mates defence.
Christen knows deep down that none of this was Tobin's fault and that her reaction was uncalled for. The way Tobin looks at her is something she has never seen before but then it hits her. You might have been her girlfriend but you are Tobin's best friend.
"I'm sorry Tobin. It just the thought of losing her is—“
"I know. It's scares me too"
When the pair hug, the team awe in response. For a brief moment the energy changes but it doesn't last long.
"Y/N is awake"
Having not needed to be told twice, Christen heads straight towards the nurse.
"You're going to have to wait sweetie. Y/N only wants to see Miss Sinclair"
It hurt. Once again you were choosing Christine over her and quite frankly Christen has had enough. A huge part of her wanted to say 'screw you' and leave. If you didn't want to see her then she wasn't going to stick around.
"Let's go get a coffee" Pinoe suggests which Christen agrees, Tobin follows in suit.
The three of them return just as Christine is storming through the hallway. Clearly nothing good happened in your room but it wasn't clear if the bad thing was related to the incident or something else.
"Christine, wait" Christen grabs her hand as she strides past them "What's wrong"
"She's unbelievable and all yours. I'm done"
Christen heads straight for you room, alone. The rest of the team know that there is conversation that needs to be had between the two of you and they had no right to be a part of it.
The sight itself is worrying. You are laid in the hospital bed, hooked up to several hospital wires and have a nasal cannula which is helping you breathe. All in all you didn't look well and it made the next words that came out of your mouth that much more frustrating.
"Don't look at me like that, i'm fine" your attempt at reassuring your girlfriend seems to have the opposite affect.
"No more lies Y/N. You're not fine. I watched you die, do you know what that was like?" Christen starts the speech that she had been planning in her head for the last couple of hours.
When you see her eyes begin to well up you want nothing more than to get out of the bed and comfort your girlfriend but you simply didn't have the strength. Instead you used what strength you did have to move over slightly so there was room for her near you.
"Come here"
Christen does so happily. Even though she is mad she has been craving the feeling of being in your arms and the solace it brings her.
"You knew this would happen. It's why you talked about you dying when we laid in the bath. You held me in your arms and we had a conversation which you knew could happen whilst I thought you were being hypothetical"
"I meant what I said. When I die I want you to move on with your life, not live in the past, in our past" once again you cannot bring yourself to make eye contact with your girlfriend.
Christen hovers her hand over your chest before placing it on your heart. The room goes quiet, enough so that you can hear her counting the beats under her breath. She is worried about you and you knew what the next couple of months would look like. Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. You never wanted things to come to this and you certainly didn’t want to be the reason for Christen’s pain. It’s why you know the thing you are going to next is the right thing to do.
“Why did Christine leave?”
Well it looks like Christen is going to be the one to initiate the conversation only she has no idea what is about to come.
“I told her i’m not going to have the surgery when I get home. If I do then I'll miss the olympics and that isn’t something I am willing to do. I am going to have another minor surgery and work with the doctors so that I make it until the summer”
Christen lifts her head so she can see your face and what she is met with worries her. You are blank, almost emotionless but it was the facade you chose to put up in order get through this talk.
“No! You—“
“Christen the last few years we have shared have been incredible and I wouldn’t change a thing. I know you are mad at me for keeping this from you but I don’t regret it. If I had it my way you would have never found out. I wanted to protect you from the pain that comes with my condition because I saw what it did to my mom and I won’t have you going through the same worry”
“Y/N” Christen doesn’t like what she is hearing.
“I love you Christen Annemarie Press more than anything in this world and it’s why I can’t be with you”
Her eyes well up within seconds. Her breathing becomes erratic and it matches the increasing beeps on your monitor. You may be calm on the outside but the wires hooked up to your chest tell a different story.
“No. You don’t get to tell me your dying then break up with me, that’s not how this ends, I won’t let it” Christen refuses to acknowledge that you have decided to end your relationship.
“Chris” You reach out for her hand but she pulls away just as your fingertips touch.
“Why are you doing this? We’ve talked about our future, marriage and kids. I may not have known you were sick but you did and you still had those conversations. Were they lies too?”
You get up out of bed against your better judgement. You ignore the pain in your chest and the rapid beeping coming from behind you.
“I never lied to you, I withheld the truth, there is a difference. Those conversations we had were a fantasy, one that made me look forward to a future I knew I might not have. I am doing this because I love you way to much to break your heart just because mine is already broken”
Your emotions are starting to get the better of you whilst Christen has tears rolling down her cheeks. It was naive to believe you could break up with the love or your life and not have her fight for you.
“You are so selfish Y/N” Christen’s sadness has turned into rage “I am willing to stand by your side though all of this and you are pushing me away. You are making a decision for our future without letting me have a say”
“I might not have a future Christen!”
The volume of your tone is the last straw. Doctors who had been monitoring your vitals come rushing into the room to make sure that you are ok, your team mates follow in suit.
“Miss Y/L/N I need you to get back into bed before you rip open your stitches” One of the nurses try to usher you back toward the bed but you don’t move.
“Christen, Listen to me. I am doing this because I love you, one day you will see that. I have to let you go”
Christen waits in your room to hear you out but she doesn’t respond before leaving.
When you are back in bed you cannot bring yourself to look at any of your team mates. There are those that knew and some that didn’t. You chose to stare out the window and your friends leave one by one, soon enough it is just Tobin and Emily in the room.
“You’re not getting the surgery?” Emily asks you. She had been the one to follow Christine to find out what happened.
“I can’t. I want to go to Tokyo and I can’t if I get it. My doctor said the risks are very high given the stress that my heart is currently under and he’s not sure if it can take it. I meant what I said on the pitch, I don’t want to die” The blonde understood your reasoning and didn’t question it any further.
Tobin on the other hand. She has had enough with your stubbornness and you knew that a lecture was coming.
“Please don’t” you beg her
“You two were made for each other and you just threw that away, why?” Tobin asks you.
“Because it easier to mourn someone you hate than someone you love”
The next month was tough. You were back in Portland, a place you called home, but you had never felt more alone. Your friends were mad at you for not getting surgery, even Christine only spoke to you when her captain duties called for it. Christen spent the first week after the incident texting and messaging you. She was fighting for your relationship but you couldn't step into the ring for her.
You had to take a temporary step back from the team to recover and get back to a place where you can play high level soccer. You released a statement saying that you were stepping away in order to focus on your health. You didn't give the fans anymore details and they respected your wishes, the press on the other hand, well they wanted to know what the damage was.
Truth is you missed your friends and the loneliness that your stubbornness caused became overwhelming which only made things worse. Your doctor was pleased with the improvements you were making but after the first few weeks things took a turn for the worse. The temporary surgery you had in Arizona had reached its limits a lot sooner than your doctor had hoped.
It was three months later when it came to a head.
"When do I have to make the decision?" you ask.
You had just completed another round of tests and as you sit in your doctor's office you can tell by the energy in the room and the lack of eye contact of his behalf that things weren't good.
"I would like to do this as soon as possible and before you ask, it is my recommendation that we do the full repair"
"But what about the risks? I want to go to Tokyo and you said the best way for me to do that is to have the smaller surgery and reevaluate when I get back"
"Y/N if we don't do this surgery I cannot guarantee that you make it to the summer"
"So what you're saying is I have the surgery or become part of the 27 club?" You let out a small chuckle but nothing about this was funny.
"I'm sorry things have come to this and I know it isn't what you wanted"
"It's ok, these things happen" It was as if you had already admitted defeat.
When you get up from your chair it's as if time had slowed down. You walked over the window which ironically looks over Providence park. You had made so many memories there and you truly thought you would have years to make more, now though you're not too sure.
"Can I give you a piece of advice?" your doctor stands beside you "Talk to someone. It doesn't have to be about this but you can't close yourself off from everybody. You shouldn't keep your friends at arms length Y/N, they are there because they want to support you"
"I don't want to become their problem"  you confess.
"I made a promise to someone but they're not my patient you are" He goes back to his desk "Christen Press calls my office once a week to get updates on you"
You were both happy and angry after hearing this. On one hand it was nice to know she still cared but you had been killing yourself, literally, so that you could keep her away from this and your doctor has been telling her anyways.
"You had no right"
"No I didn't but it was the right thing to do. That women loves you Y/N. When faced with death most of my patients live life there's no tomorrow. They do all the things that are on their bucket list, they make memories with their friends and confess their feelings but you, you have done the opposite. You refuse to see or speak to anyone unless it is unavoidable and you push away the woman you love most in this world. I made a decision, one that I won't apologise for"
At this point your doctor was like family so he didn't mind calling you out when your were being stubborn or stupid.
"What if I hurt her?"
Dying doesn't scare you because you had been preparing for it your entire life. Being the reason that Christen cries herself to sleep at night, that is one of your greatest fears.
"You already are by pushing her away"
You knew he was right. It became obvious the moment you broke up with her but in your eyes you were hurting her a little bit now in order to keep from hurting a lot more later on.
"Can I call you tomorrow with an answer?"
"Of course"
When you leave his office your phone feels like it's burning a hole in your pocket. Every part of you wanted to hear Christen's voice but something was stopping you.
Ignorance had been your greatest ally as of late. If you weren't at the hospital or at rehab then you would tell yourself that you are healthy but you were no longer able to ignore the uncertainty of your future. Portland has been home since you went No1 in the draft so subconsciously you take yourself to Providence park which isn’t all that strange considering it’s about this time of day when training ends. You stop at a poster of you and Tobin after you won the championship last season, the two of you looked so happy and carefree.
"It's a good photo" you don't need to turn around in order to know who is there.
"Y/N and Heath, Portland's unstoppable force" It was a nickname that the fans gave the both of you years ago and it has stuck ever since.
"Well one of us is" Tobin jokes.
"I guess I deserve that. I've missed you Tobs" you hug her tightly with a force that she returns.
"You're scaring us Y/N. Everyone is worried about you. Christen isn't herself, she is barely sleeping, every time she closes her eyes she sees you on that pitch or worse. She told me the other night that she finds herself walking through cemetery and it is your headstone that she goes to"
"I never wanted any of this to happen. I just wanted to protect her, you do know that don't you?"
"Of course I do and she does too. I know you don't want to talk about it but please tell me you're getting better" Tobin pleads.
"I wish I could. I'm not going to go into detail because I don't want to put you in a position where you have to lie but I need to have the big surgery, the one I have been putting off, and i'm not sure if i'm ready to have it yet"
"You're scared?" Tobin asks and you nod "You will make the right decision Y/N and I know you want to do this alone but if you want me to then i'll be by your side through it all"
The offer meant more than Tobin knew. You truly thought that your behaviour over the past couple of months had burnt the bridges that you call your friendships.
"Thank you Tobin"
She joins you as you wander the city but after an hour she picks up on the fact that you wanted to be alone and before leaving she reminds you once again that she is only a call away should you need her.
You find a bench that over looks the water. You put your earphones in and dial Christen's number, praying to the higher powers that she answers, she doesn't. It didn't come as a surprise, you didn't deserve her time. You try again only this time you decide to leave a voicemail.
"Hi bab—, sorry I mean Christen, it's Y/N. I have been told that I should talk to someone and you are the first person that came to my mind. I—“
"Y/N? Are you ok? Is something wrong"
"Christen?" you pull your phone out of your pocket to see if the call has connected "you didn't pick up, I thought I was leaving a voicemail"
"Sorry I was in the shower. Is everything ok?"
"I want to talk to you but I need you to treat me like the old Y/N, not the weak and broken Y/N"
"You're not broken Y/N. You are human and sometimes humans get sick"
"Chris, please"
"Girlfriend Y/N or cocky and confident Y/N? Just so I know which Y/N I am speaking to?" she chuckles slightly as she allows herself to get lost in the game are playing.
"The one that loves you unconditionally"
"My favourite Y/N"
You ignore the butterflies that you feel when you hear Christen's voice. Despite everything that is going on with you and her, she still manages to calm you down without even trying.
"I remember the first time you took me home to meet your family, I was so nervous. I know how much they mean to you and although you are this independent woman who doesn't need anyones approval, you still wanted theirs and I thought for certain I wouldn't get it"
This was news to Christen. She couldn't have imagined this is how you felt given the way you strode into the Press family full of confidence and not willing to let anyone get in the way of your relationship.
"I didn't know that"
"Can you remember the end of the night when you Dad asked to speak to me outside?" you hear Christen hum on the other end "That was the calmest I had been the entire night"
"Y/N, that doesn't make sense"
"It does because I knew the 'nobody will be good enough for my daughter' speech was coming. He asked me if I deserved to be in his daughters life and I said no. It was an easy answer because although I had known you for a few years, we had only being dating for a few months and in that time you showed me just how amazing you are and part of me knew from the moment I met you that you were too good for me Christen. The next morning Channing and Tyler cornered me in the kitchen and asked me the same type of question. The only person who didn't was your mom"
"She told me to tell that she's really mad at you"
"She'll have to get in line. Can I continue?"
You take her silence as a yes.
"Your mom asked me why I don't trust that her daughter is making the right decision. I said because i'm not capable of loving you like you deserve and whether it be in one year or ten years, I will break your heart"
"Y/N"
"She told me breaking someone's heart isn't always a bad thing because if you have the power to do that then they must love you with every fibre of their being and that isn't something to be sad about. She said when the day comes, I won't do it on purpose because if I do then I would be hurting myself in the process"
"When the day comes? She knew?"
"I asked myself the same question. Her words were filled with so much comfort that I was sure she did but it wasn't possible"
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Because I knew from day one that this wasn't going to end well and I pursued it anyways. I was selfish and I have hurt you when I spent years making sure that didn't happen"
When the line goes quiet you are sure that Christen has hung up. You wouldn't be angry if she did, it was nice of her to give you the time that she had.
"Can you remember the night before the world cup final when we walked the streets of Paris?"
This is how the rest of the night went. You and Christen went back and forth sharing your favourite memories from your time together. Every so often she would change the subject to your health but it was only for a second then she would go back to her story.
The night draws in and the temperature drops but you are too content sitting by the water, admiring the view and talking to Christen. A dog comes running up to you, the bark makes Christen question where you are.
"Y/N where are you?"
"On a bench"
"You should go home"
"But I don't want to say goodbye"
Both of you go silent. The heaviness of the words you just said bring back the reality of what has been going in.
"There's no reason for you to say goodbye" Christen says and it's obvious even she didn't believe the words that are coming out of her mouth.
"Chris"
"No, I won't have this conversation with you over the phone. If you want to say your goodbyes then you do it in person"
"I love you and my heart, as broken as it may be, belongs to you and it will do until my last day on earth and then long into the afterlife"
A strong sense of Deja Vu hits you and Christen. You had said this before but the meaning is different now.
"Stop"
"I need surgery Christen and the risks are high but if I don't have it then I don't know how long—“
"Y/n, please" Christen begs you from her end of the phone "I know you broke up with me and I know why but I love you"
"Christen, stop. I can tell what you're thinking. Please don't come to Portland"
"But I want to be with you"
"I am only a phone call away but I need space to do this ok?"
"I want to make a deal. No more radio silence. You call me every day, whether it is a good day or a bad one. I'll give you your space but I need you in my life"
Christen's determination was admirable and you wouldn't expect anything less.
"We have a deal"
"Pinky promise?"
"Ok"
"I need to hear you say it"
"Christen I pinky promise to call you everyday"
You decided not to get the major surgery. Life is short, you know this more than most, so you took your chances and worked with the physios to get you fit and healthy in time for the summer. It was difficult and there were days that you felt like giving up but you persisted, maybe a little too hard.
The bad days came along more than the good days but you kept your promise to christen. You called her everyday, sometimes twice.
You were promised a spot on the olympic roster if the doctors cleared you. It didn't matter if you didn't take part in the camps. The staff and players knew you belonged on the team, you could take a year off and still step on the pitch like no time had passed.
Just before the send off series, a rematch against Canada was organised. Due to the history of the fixture both teams felt they owed the fans a full 90 minute match. They agreed to have the game in Portland seen as though the city means so much to you.
Christen wanted to go to your apartment as soon as she landed but in the end she chooses to respect your wishes.
Your absence in the locker room was obvious. It was the first time that the national team had played without you in years and each player struggled with the thought of not having you on the pitch with them. Christen kept checking her phone every few minutes, you hadn’t had your morning call and something didn’t feel right. What she saw next seemed to add fuel to the fire.
“You can’t wear that?” Christen says when she watches Mallory change into her shorts. There on the left side was the number 7.
“Y/N told me to wear it” Mal’s defence was honest. She remembers getting the call from you, at first it was strange but then you explained the reason why and the young forward saw it as an honour.
“She would never do that” it is Tobin who speaks up “It’s her number and she wouldn’t give it up, not when she knows she’s—“ your best friends stops herself when she realises what you have done.
“When she’s what?” Mal asks.
“Never mind” Tobin retreats to her locker where she tries to call you only to get your voicemail.
The game ends in a 1-1 draw. Both halves were uneventful but the post match press conference made up for that. Canada goes first and as Christine Sinclair sits down she has no idea what she is in for.
The US team watch from the changing room given that their captain is next and they want to see what she gets asks.
“Christine do you have a comment on the latest news regarding your Portland Thorns team mate Y/N Y/L/N?”
It was a question that threw not only her off but the entire USWNT locker room. As far as they were aware you were recovering well and on track to return to the team.
“What news is that?” Christine says as she ignores the pit that is forming in her stomach.
“What are they talking about?” Christen asks Tobin. The insecurities of been left in the dark regarding your condition come straight to the surface.
“I don’t know” Tobin tries to hide her worry.
The journalist who asked the question remains quiet. It was clear that Christine didn’t know what he was talking about and he knew that a press conference wasn’t the right place to tell her and he shouldn't be the one to do so.
“Tell me, please” Christine encourages the journalist.
“I have a source that tells me Y/N was brought into OHSU this morning by ambulance and that she was rushed into emergency heart surgery” she can tell by the tone of his voice that he didn’t want to say it.
“This press conference is over” Christine leaves and heads straight for the opposing teams locker room.
The room that holds your team is so quiet you could hear a pin drop. They were all in a state of shock that left them frozen in their spot. The first to move is Emily who calls your number time and time again hoping that if she does it enough then you will pick up. Tobin is next, she calls you mom who doesn’t answer either.
“Hello”
Christen’s voice fills the locker room.
“Ok, I understand”
Her team mates watch and wait for her to tell them something, anything. Christen takes a deep breathe before turning her attention to the team.
“That was her doctor’s office. All they can tell me is that she is in surgery”
Christen takes a deep breath. A few days ago she begged you for honesty and against your better judgement you gave it to her. You told her everything and what followed was never part of your plan. After cooking a meal together over face time Christen asked you to say goodbye and you knew you owed her that. It wasn't a sad goodbye and you didn't talk about your past. You talked about a life where you are healthy, get married, have children and live long enough to grow old together then at the end you said your goodbyes.
It is the reason why Christen remains in her locker when the rest of the team get ready to go the hospital. Even as Christine comes to tell them the news that they already know, she remains still and calm.
"Christen, get your stuff together, we need to go" Tobin tells her.
Yet she doesn't move.
"I'm not going"
"I understand that things aren't great between the two of you but this is bad and she needs you"
That's the thing, even though you wasn't dating, you and Christen were in a good place. There were no more lies between you and it made your friendship stronger than it ever was.
"I've already said my goodbye and I don't want my last memory to be of her in a hospital bed"
The team couldn't believe what they were hearing. They had no idea you were at a point when goodbyes were necessary.
Given the seriousness of the surgery you were having, most of the team decide to go back to the hotel while a handful of them went to to the hospital.
Christen however asks for space and the team give it to her. She doesn't go back to the hotel, instead she goes to your apartment and uses the key you gave her to let herself in. She goes straight to your room and gets changed into a pair of your joggers and grabs a hoodie as she brings it up to her nose she takes a deep breathe in, it smelled just like you.
She gets into your bed, the one that you shared many times before. Then she gets her phone, opens up your thread of messages and scrolls until she find the one she is looking for. It was a voice note followed by the text 'don't listen now. Wait until it's time'. At first she thought it was vague but right now she knew now is the time you were referring to.
Hearing your voice knowing that there's a chance she won't hear it in person again brings Christen to tears and all you're doing is mumbling words of frustration as you have knocked a drink over whilst recording.
"Sorry about that. Now, what was I going to say? Oh yeah, I love you. It's been a while since I have told you that but if you're listening to this then i'm guessing you need to hear it. I know you are scared right now but I want you to know everything is going to be ok, I promise"
"How can you promise that?" Christen says to the phone.
"And I can promise that because you are one of the strongest people I have ever met"
She laughs at little at how much you know her.
"I know we said our goodbyes but now I want to say thank you. Living the life I have means that I have cherished everyday I've spent on this earth and those days have been better than I could have ever imagined because I got to share them with you. You see I was determined not to fall in love but then you came along and I found out how naive I was to think I had a choice in the matter"
"I didn't have a choice either Y/N" she replies as if you are there in the room with her.
"I never feared death growing up but now the thought petrifies me and it's because I have something to lose and somebody to live for. I want a future with you, I want to marry you, will you marry me? No Y/N what are you doing you can't ask the women to marry you over voice note pull yourself to together"
A small chuckle escapes christen's lips are she listens to you tell your self off.
"Would you marry me?"
She had never heard you sound this unsure before.
"I would" she answers your questions.
"I hope you said yes otherwise this next part is going to be very awkward. I take it your in my apartment right now and in my bed, if I am correct then you can open the draw to the left of you where you will find a small box"
Christen's interest had spiked. How did you manage to plan all of this over a voice note. Just as you said she finds a red box and awaits further instructions.
"Open it"
She does so and finds a diamond ring.
"This ring is open for interpretation but for me it's a reminder. Should I die I want you to remember the love that I have for you. I bought it during the world cup but I told myself that I would only give you it after I had told you about my condition. Can I class this as me giving it to you?"
You are about to answer your own question once again but out of nowhere you begin coughing and Christen winces at the sound. She doesn't know when you recorded the message but given that you are in surgery she can guess it was recorded in the last couple of days.
"Sorry, give me a minute"
Christen listens as you try to get your breath back.
"I really hope this is not the last time you hear my voice" she can tell you are scared.
"My dying wish is that you find peace"
"Don't say that" Christen begs.
"I truly am sorry for the pain that I have caused you. I never wanted it to happen. Goodbye my love"
Christen waits for you to say to more but you don't. That is the last part of the voice note. She lays in your bed long enough to watch the sunset through your window. In the same draw that held the ring is a photo album, one that you had made. There were photos taken over your career, of you and your friends and quite a few of you and her.
Later that night Christen receives a text from Tobin saying that you are out of surgery and that you should wake up in a few hours once the anaesthesia has worn off. Then she received a second message saying that you had woken up but Christen stayed in your apartment. When her phone goes off again she assumes it will be Tobin asking why she hasn't come to visit but that isn't the case.
Have you been watering my cactus?
Christen cannot believe it. You have just had major heart surgery and this is the thing you say.
You don't need to water a cactus. They live in the desert.
I knew that. I was just testing you.
She doesn't get the chance to respond before you send another message.
I know I scared you. Will you come and see me? It doesn't have to be today, it can be in a couple of days or whenever you are ready. It's not like I can go anywhere.
I'll come by the day after tomorrow. You need your rest.
You were disappointed to receive Christen's reply. You may have been surrounded by your mom and close friends but the only person want to see wasn't there.
Just as she said, Christen walks the halls of the hospital two days later. She finds your room but cannot muster up enough courage to go inside.
"She's ok" your mom's voice causes her to turn on her heels "The wires make it look worse than it actually is"
"I don't know if i'm ready to see her like that yet" Christen admits. It was the reason why she had waited this long to come.
"I understand but she has been waiting for you. You were the first person she asked for when she woke up"
"Is she alone?"
"No Tobin is in there with her now. She hasn't left the hospital since she got here after the game but she was asleep when I left. I'll give you some time with her" and with that your mom walks away.
The door to your hospital room opens and you are expecting your mom or more doctors but instead it is the person you love most in the world.
"Hi"
When you see Christen you notice the dark circles in her eyes and the way her smile is forced. You look her up and down as if doing your own inspection and that is when you see it.
Christen is overcome with emotion as she saunters over towards you and before you can say anything her lips are on yours. Nothing in this world compared to moments like this, when your connection with Christen is proven through a small act of intimacy.
When you pull apart Christen sits on the side of your bed.
"Nice ring" you hold her hand up just enough to see the diamond glisten in the lights.
"Crappy proposal"
At least now you know Christen listened to the voice note and wasn't just snooping around.
"It's wasn't a proposal remember? And I don't recall telling you which finger it was for" There is a hint of playfulness in your voice but the truth of the matter is you were happy to see Christen wearing the ring but then she takes it off and gives it to you.
"Y/N you gave me this ring because you thought our story was over but it isn't. Regardless of how long it is, we have a future together and I want to spend it with you so no more running, no more secrets or lies and no more protecting me from this" Christen gentles rests her index finger on your heart "You may not have proposed but right here I take the vow to love you in sickness and in health and to be your partner in the good times and bad"
You didn't know what to say. Christen knew everything and she still chose to stand by your side. You always said you didn't deserve her and now you know this more than ever but the difference is you are determined to spend your life making up for the years you spent keeping her in the dark. You will earn back her trust and show her just how much you love her.
