♡ Tips for being emo/scene!!! ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🎀 Become familiar with the music
I don't think that if you're emo or scene that you have to listen to every single band and genre under those labels, but I would recommend at least being familiar with as many bands as you can as those subcultures are music based. While fashion is still important, it won't matter how good your outfit looks if you don't engage in what is the most important part of the scene.
🎀 Check the kids' sections of thrift stores
If you're on the shorter or thinner side, then you should definitely check the kids sections in thrift stores because you can find things like cartoon merch that you wouldn't find in the adults section. This is especially helpful for if you're scene since most stores aren't going to carry super colourful clothes in the adults section.
🎀 Don't worry too much about not looking emo or scene enough
I'm fairly active on r/scene, and one of the most frequent kinds of posts I see are people asking 'Am I scene enough?' or 'Is this scene?' I think those posts really highlight an issue in many alternative communities, which is that people will focus more on looking like they belong in their subculture rather than dressing how they want. This is an issue because focusing solely on fitting into a style won't help you find your personal style, but rather discourage your individuality. The point of being alternative is to express who you are and be unique, not to look like everyone else, so when you put together an outfit you should always focus on how much you like it, not how emo it looks.
🎀 You don't have to be pale, skinny, white, ect. to be alternative
I see a lot of people ask if they're allowed to be emo or scene while being coloured or plus sized, and the answer is that anyone can be part of any subculture. Just because the most popular emo and scene influencers like Eugenia or Johnnie were pale and thin doesn't mean everyone has to look like them. During the Myspace era, there were also plenty of people with the style who were Asian, black, plus-sized, and more. Plus I'm half Asian and I'm obviously emo. Additionally, black emos do not have to straighten their hair. There is nothing wrong with embracing your natural hair and if someone calls you a poser for that, their opinion doesn't matter.
🎀 You don't have to spend a lot of money
Obviously if you have the money and you want to wear Demonia and Tripp, you can do that. But I've seen a lot of people say that they don't have enough money to dress alternative, and while that definitely does limit your options a lot, you can still get cute clothes by thrifting or shopping on second hand apps. Stores like Romwe, while not the most ethical way to buy your clothes, also have cute stuff that's on the cheaper side.

Modern! Mizu Headcanons
AU: Mizu having an emo phase when she was a teenager….and the aftermaths of it lol
This one has been rotting in my brain for a few days, and now i am writing it out instead of being a good college student and doing my work ^^”
I was gonna say i’m not projecting but i am definitely projecting so enjoy these little ideas
———-
Tumblr media
_______
-The phase happened around late middle/early highschool
-Had the haircut, outfit, bracelets, etc..
-Her first piercing were her snakebites, her favorite and she never ended up taking them out. Still wears them till this day.
-Horseshoe lip rings, specifically the one with the spikes
-she had a hard time making friends since people made fun of her looks. So she turned to music for comfort and support (she will not admit that)
-definitely had a myspace where she would post whatever and decorate her page with a shit ton of stamps and blinkies that was super eyestraining
-after highschool she grew out of the fashion but she never stopped listening to the music
-i can imagine her dressed in adam sandler styled clothing in college and her queued playlist has dance gavin dance and get scared songs up next
-she’s embarrassed of old photos of her, especially the ones she took in her bathroom with a shitty camera she got off ebay
-Her gf thinks she was absolutely adorable in this time era
-She still has her favorite band tees and wears them to bed
-She was never able to attend any concerts as a teen, so if there’s one near her campus she is dead set on going and dragging her gf along with her

Tumblr glitched while I was trying to answer this, but thankfully I took a screenshot of everything before refreshing because I legit cannot find that draft or question anywhere now, sorry. So here we go again...
I'll link to the post here. (btw any annoyance that might seep into my tone in my recent answers is NOT directed at the actual people asking... y'all are lovely). So that post is done in a very similar tone to the Ryden primers that the pre-split fandom posted, but I'm getting the sense that this is very very different... like that person seems to actually believe the content that they're posting is straight up facts (and even if they don't, the fact that you're referring to it as "infamous" probably implies that other people are at least treating it as real facts, so I'm still going to address it like the tone is serious). Here's an explanation of how the majority of the fandom used to view Ryden.
A lot of their pictures no longer show up, so I'm going to leave a wayback screen recording here for reference:
I'll just comment as I go through it if I have something to add:
I suppose that the tone of someone's comments is open to interpretation, so idc as much about whether those are misread or not.
That supposed AIM convo was shared as a myspace bulletin by Brent's brother Blake during the summer 2006 season when he was trying to stir up shit and was busy posting other inaccurate info too. I'm just saying to take it with a grain of salt.
Ryan’s lj post on 9/27/05 was about the release of AFYCSO that day. He talked a lot in interviews that season about how it was weird for him to see so many fans singing his lyrics back to him.
uhh most of the pictures that this person lists "from this era" of 2004/2005 are actually from 2006. so they definitely know what they're talking about here lol.
they list one of Ryan's livejournal posts and then say "I'm not sure of the exact date, but I know it was some time in 06." It was from June 24, 2006.
lol Audrey.
re: the Myrtle Beach theory
why is the part where Ryan called Brendon a golden god in late 2006 any different than when Brendon said this about Spencer that same season?
re: the 2006 mic-sharing & stage gay
fans would positively scream when Ryan & Brendon approached each other, especially in the last half of 2006. this moment in Munich in October 2006 seemed no different... the guys absolutely knew what they were doing.
the VMA performance just seemed like Ryan was still using Brendon as a safe space to look at so he wouldn't stare at his feet or guitar, but that is still very much something you could turn into a Ryden thing so carry on haha.
about the Rolling Stone interview
I'm laughing at the "squint a little harder" comment about finding Ryden content in 2008. That is so accurate.
re: Dylan's myspace (yes, Keltie ran a myspace for Hobo that anyone could grab pics from).
Ryan absolutely sounds like he's saying dude... also that would be normal.
the picture of the bracelet is normal
I'm just going to link to this post since it addresses many similar inaccurate points about early 2009.
I was about to side eye them so hard for posting the Lana Jade letter as real, but at least they added that she made multiple posts explaining that it wasn't her. And yes, obviously Brendon's best friend was Shane (not Ryan).
omg Ryan's tattoos are not about Brendon. Those are Tom Waits lyrics. Ryan was good friends with Thomas Dutton. About a year before getting the tattoos, Ryan was hanging out with him on tour in the UK and later told Kerrang that “a friend of mine in Forgive Durden turned me on to Tom Waits when we were in the UK… I’ve been listening to him ever since. His voice is so rough and dark. I’d never really heard anything like that.”
the sharing beds idea was misunderstood in the Billboard interview... all 4 guys slept on bunkbeds in the same room when they were recording AFYCSO. That's what Brendon's referring to.
re: the Bishop Gorman tshirt… Ryan was hardly that size in high school. But Brent went to Bishop Gorman too (and so did Paulina, who was also friends with Brendon). Brendon did borrow some of Brent’s stuff in 2004/2005 (like money for food while they were first touring). Just saying… it's def interesting, but it’s not an automatic Ryden connection.
I didn't read Spencer's tone in that out.com interview the same way... there's some relevant bits in this post.
about the red shirt
here's my general tag for Ryden stuff

saw a headcanon ask and now you get one too. favorite blorbo headcanons?
ooh yay thank you!! i'm just gonna do the first 10 i can think of, here we go:
drew stans weezer unironically. he has a reddit account solely for debating whether the blue album or pinkerton is better. i stand by this
in my timeline of events for my fics, zoey's done contests before DP. her first circuit was actually in johto, because she wanted to challenge herself by going somewhere entirely new. that's where she got misdreavus from! daisy oak was her mentor figure, and she also competed alongside marina and became good friends with them both
another zoey hc - i think it would be really funny if her type was extroverted blue-haired coordinators. dawn, obviously but also marina and lisia
ash has synesthesia. and perfect pitch, even though he's never played an instrument. cilan is jealous and outraged at the latter
gary had a poetry/journaling phase when he was around 15 in sinnoh. he was inspired by his grandpa's poetry and proverbs he heard around the region like "when every life meets another, something will be born." so he kept a journal of original poems for a bit, but he abandoned it after a year or so, and nowadays he cringes at his cliches when he looks back. there's probably a few poems unraveling his feelings for ash in there
goh does 80% of his shopping at uniqlo. look at him and tell me he doesn't
chloe pushed herself to be social when she was young, especially because she saw how goh got treated for being antisocial, but as she grows up she comes to realize that she has a lower social battery than she would like. if she has two (2) packed social days in a row she will lose her mind
serena and chloe were obsessed with cimorelli's youtube covers when they were in their early teens. they grow out of it but it comes up as a big "wait, what? you actually know what i'm talking about?" moment when they become friends in their 20s
social media hcs: misty was a myspace girlie, gary knows that twitter is now (regrettably) X but he draws the line at knowing what tiktok is, dawn and may thrived during the vine era but only dawn actively uses tiktok, serena was all about that 2014 instagram christian girl autumn aesthetic, lana streams on twitch, brock was the first of his friends to join facebook and that's where he peaked, iris only created her social media accounts once she became unova champion, zoey's accounts are managed by a PR specialist so that she can just relax and play words with friends, ash plays among us but forgets his actual SM accounts exist, and paul is ride or die with his nokia flip phone
ash is the shortest among shigesatogou, but he can still sling both goh and gary over his shoulder no problem (we stan a short athletic king)

nick and y/n basically repeating history right before their eyes is crazy. the story between y/n's parents and nick's parents are so interesting? oliver being the observant person that is probably made that connection way before nana told them verbally. although nick and y/n are truly just besties, it makes oliver realize that at the end of the day, he could lose y/n that easily. so in a way, there is a relief in just staying in the uk with y/n.
also, felix reading their myspace is so funny to me. like he's so obsessed and can't hide it that they find it endearing. but when he sees that y/n and oliver is hanging with the youngs (especially nick) it makes him fume. because that could easily be him under you two's adoring eyes.
oh man the Crazy Rich Asians AU goes so hard in my mind, i love this movie so fucking much and I love intertwining their worlds because TBH i do just think they make sense!!
the thing with the reader's mother and Nick's father (also Sir James, like Felix's dad lol. if Y/N had a nickel, etc...) was born from a thing i wrote about how the reader's grandfather had established a professional relationship with the Youngs, as well as the fact that in CRA Nick's mother mentions to Rachel that she wasn't the family's first choice to marry her husband. i do think the friendship Nick's dad and the reader's mother was and still is entirely platonic, when they're around each other they seem to revert back to younger versions of themselves where they're still best friends.
Eleanor Young is just bothered by the constant reminder that most of her husband's family wanted your mother to marry her husband, and the two of them still get along so so well. it's also the exact same reason the reader's father is so insecure whenever he goes to singapore, but he has to go for business reasons and because he's insecure, no matter how much your mother insists she has never felt romantically about Nick's dad.
it takes a while for the reader to realise just how much the way they talk about nick and singapore bothers Oliver, to the point where he kind of hates talking about it and going for the first few years. he definitely gets giddy at the end of the trips and clings to the reader during the entire flight home and probably for the week after before it returns to a less intense level of interaction again. honestly i think it might be the only fight they have as children, and that's when the reader finally understands, and makes sure to prioritise oliver and know he's their priority, even when they're in singapore. i think it might also be the thing that really solidifies them as a package deal, really cements their co-dependency. that being said, ultimately oliver comes to love and cherish nick just as much as the reader, and the feeling is absolutely mutual. you, oliver, nick, and astrid becoming an absolute elite powerhouse across the world's elite social scene is one of my favourite images.
also ngl im always tickled by how we all seem to agree that Felix has probably one-sided beef with Nick Young when they're at Oxford in every AU simply because Nick is also pretty and charming and rich, and Felix is petty even if he tries to act like he's not.
we as a society don't talk about the fact that Saltburn is set in the MySpace era enough.

Soooo I made a pinboard, It's kinda a mix of industrial/cyber goth/punk/techwear as they all kind of overlap especially if your just using it for simspo because of limited cc.
if there's duplicates I'm sorry.
I'm also kinda salty that most of it seems modern and myspace goth era shit is difficult to find.
Also please excuse the dreadfalls the POC community has spoken out many times about how their problematic....a lot of the models have them though due to the time period this fashion was at its peak
please do not put loc's on your white sims (if you try to fight me on this I will block)
I really wish I could of found the more slutty stuff but I guess it leans too far into fetish fashion for pinterest

Things to keep in mind when writing works set in other decades PART 2!
Part 1—I touched on Tech
Part 2—Culture/Pop Culture
Culture
This part is a potential minefield, but it does bear commenting, so here goes.
Culture has shifted a lot between different decades. Especially the last fifty years.
A lot has happened in the past ten/fifteen years that would be unthinkable in the early 2000's, let alone the 70's, 80's, or 90's.
So, just keep in mind that we—as a society—are different now than we were then.
So, onto a less fraught topic: Pop Culture!
Make sure certain Pop culture things actually existed in whatever time your work is set.
E.G. social media (I consider this more pop culture than tech).
Prior to the late 00's, the only major "social media" was MySpace. Facebook wasn't a big thing until just before the 2010's, YouTube was brand new in 2004, our beloathed blue hellsite(affectionate) didn't exist until 2009, and Twitter(I will never call it anything else) 2013, and TikTok didn't spawn out of hell until 2016. Ergo, any works set before certain years should not have different combinations of these.
One should also check to see if certain books/movies/games/songs/tv shows were out too.
We fans can often know a lot about a LOT of things, and nothing is more jarring than seeing someone in a work set in the 2000's talk about watching a movie from years later.
Slang is something else to consider.
Unless it's part of a catchphrase or particular speech pattern, it can also be a bit jarring. That's why I often avoid using slang, when possible, because it is the quickest way to date a work.
This happened to the 2007 film Juno.
BONUS ROUND—Fashion!
Fashion is also part of pop culture and I gotta say, you really need to double check this too because it has fluctuated the most!
For example, with all the 80's nostalgia, I have to rain on parades because I've seen pictures of 80's fashion from family albums of the era, and the neon stuff they like to push as "totally 80's" was toward the END of the decade and overspilled onto the early 90's.
Again, Tl:Dr—Do the research if your work is set in our world, but not the current day, because it can really show in a bad way.

Arctic Monkeys aren’t done evolving (Alternative Press)
Tumblr media
By Ashley Reese. Published: October 18, 2022
ALEX TURNER IS THINKING ABOUT a parking lot. Specifically, one in Hollywood, California where Arctic Monkeys performed on April 26, 2007 as musical guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live. At the time, Turner was 21 years old, delivering a blistering rendition of “Brianstorm” to a crowd that lined up around the block to see the latest from the most hyped band coming out of the British indie-rock scene. There were the Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, the Rapture, Bloc Party, the Cribs, the Kooks, but there was no one quite like Arctic Monkeys.
“It’s funny, innit?” Turner smirks. Currently, the Arctic Monkeys bandleader is at ease and upbeat sitting at a New York City hotel restaurant, awaiting a cappuccino. “I haven’t thought about that for a while, but when you said it then… I feel like I can remember what T-shirt I was wearing or something.”
As Turner, 36, muses about how surreal it is to reminisce about gigs they played 15 years ago, he pauses. “Not to get bogged down in memory lane,” he says apologetically. “But there’s something about how vividly some of that stuff stays with you, and maybe not what you would expect to.”
Memory lane for Turner is largely paved in polo shirts and leather jackets, shoulder-length locks and buzzcuts, tiny gigs and stadium tours, unremarkable Sheffield pubs and bohemian Hollywood bungalows. He has spent the majority of his life in a band, and most of that time in the limelight.
Too much reminiscing about the old days, though, is enough to make anyone feel washed, perhaps even someone as effortlessly cool as Turner. But after 20 years as one of the biggest rock bands around, it’s hard not to get hung up on the past every once in a while.
Tumblr media
IT WAS 2002 WHEN Arctic Monkeys formed, gaining popularity by word of mouth and via free demo CDs making the rounds in their hometown of Sheffield and elsewhere in Northern England. From the jump, this was a band that was associated with their loyal fanbase: Even their MySpace page back in the mid-aughts was run by fans, not the band itself. By 2005, the band signed with Domino, and in 2006, their frenzied debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not became the fastest-selling debut album in U.K. music history.
This success was swiftly followed by Favourite Worst Nightmare in 2007, but they managed to avoid becoming nothing more than a landfill indie band in 2009 with the release of Humbug, a dark, sonic departure for the band that set the stage for a musical legacy that defied stagnancy and predictability. Their 2011 album Suck It And See was followed by AM, the record that not only solidified the band’s success in America — beyond the Anglophiles and indie sleaze veterans — but introduced them to Gen Z Tumblristas. The AM-era sound and aesthetic arguably overshadowed the previous iterations of the group, threatening to damn them — and especially Turner — to a leather-jacket-and-mop-top image forever.
Their 2018 album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, put a swift end to that. The band’s delightfully oddball exploration of politics, tech and cheese from the perspective of characters on a lunar resort was a reminder to fans old and new to never make assumptions about where Turner is going next.
And yet, the band’s forthcoming studio album, The Car, still manages to defy expectations of what an Arctic Monkeys album can sound like. If TBHC was a divisive response, The Car may very well be seismic. So whether fans like it or not is almost irrelevant: It won’t stop them from stanning and duking it out over coveted concert tickets.
“The way the project was put together this time was not unlike, what in my mind I imagine, making a movie might be like,” Turner says of The Car. “Obviously, I have no idea what that's actually like, but there was a longer post-production period in this, trying to take a lot more care of how everything fits together, the space and the dynamics within it… making it a thing that works from start to finish,” he ponders, before smirking and pivoting to self-deprecation. “It isn’t like I haven’t been trying to do all along.”
But this time, he thinks, they’ve nailed it. This wasn’t the case with their first two albums.
“They’re all over the place when I think about them now,” Turner reflects. “It's fast and everything is just done really quickly and kind of reaching all over the place to figure out where it's going.”
And now, Turner’s attempt at this meticulously crafted project culminates into a record that feels like a natural progression from TBHC, if only in that Turner, drummer Matt Helders, guitarist Jamie Cook and bassist Nick O’Malley have decided to continue down the path of “fuck it, let’s make it weird.”
“The first song that really gave me a sense of ‘OK, this is a direction that feels like it might be quite exciting to move in’ was ‘There’d Better Be A Mirrorball,’” Turner says. From there, he built out a mellow and complex album over the next two years.
So it feels reductive to say that the first thought that came to mind when “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball” debuted was to conclude that they’re in their soft-rock era. Their dad-rock era. Their Steely Dan era.
Perhaps those are pejoratives, but at times the album does little to distance itself from such epithets, and it’s impossible to miss the Frampton-esque twang in “Jet Skis On The Moat.” Yet, it doesn’t find itself trapped in it. This project is lush, string-heavy and has a decidedly cinematic flair, with songs like “The Car,” evoking a scene of an outlaw driving out west with a body in the trunk like a scene out of Fargo, and “Hello You,” which has a decidedly funky Quincy Jones film score-like bent.
“I mean, I’m absolutely all right with that [comparison],” Turner says, visibly chuffed. (And, yes, he’d love to try his hand at a film score).
As Turner continues to explain — or, rather, justify — the heavy use of strings on the album, he stops; the conversation at a table nearby has grown louder by the second. He thoughtfully frets over the integrity of our recorded interview, but he also admits that he’s distracted. After suggesting we relocate to another part of the room, he grabs both of our coffees and belongings and perches at the bar. He says distractions help keep him on his toes, preparing him for the next gauntlet to come his way. And Turner is always careful with his words, rolling them around in his mouth a bit and seeing how they taste before sharing them with the class. It makes for a slightly slower interview, but a meaningful one without the puff. He’s methodical and patient, with himself above all else, at one point going as far as to regret not using a different synonym for the word “distortion.” And it’s this meticulousness that translates into his lyrical prowess, crafting words and phrases into increasingly cryptic songs.
So it’s fitting that The Car’s best and most striking song is neither groovy nor soft; instead, it’s a pulsating, spooky track called “Sculptures of Anything Goes,” and it’s the first song co-writing credit with Arctic Monkeys guitarist Cook since “Still Take You Home" on their debut album.
Turner immediately perks up when the song is mentioned.
“Jamie got the Moog synthesizer and was playing with this sort of computer rhythm, like a rolling drum machine,” Turner explains. “He was putting that through the synth, so when you hit the key, you'd hear the drum machine and then it’d fade out. I basically wrote a song for that sound.”
The result: an ominous little earworm with the dark sex appeal of 2013’s AM and the eerieness of Humbug. “There's a bit of [a] desert thing still hanging around,” Turner agrees, referring to Joshua Tree where much of Humbug, their third album, was recorded.
Drummer Helders also cited the track as his favorite, noting that “there's a lot of scope for a cool video for that one.” He even assumed that “Sculptures” would be the first single from The Car. But that would have been misleading. Turner was correct in saying that “Mirrorball” sets the tone for the album at large, and the reception of that one mirrors how well they might receive the album in general.
There’s plenty to love about The Car: Turner has never sounded so confident in his singing voice, and his songwriting still cements him as one of the generation's most talented songwriters. But there will be Arctic Monkeys fans — longtime devotees who knew the band from their frenzied “Teddy Picker” days, “Arabella” bandwagoners and “Batphone” evangelists alike — who will find themselves uninspired by the band’s latest.
Following the release of “Body Paint,” someone tweeted, “Free Matt Helders, let him play drums on the new album.” Fair enough: Helders’ spirited drumming style has certainly taken a backseat on this album, but it’s a move Helders says he doesn’t mind (he suggests seeing them live or listening to the older albums for those who miss his drumming so much). And while Turner doesn’t seem entirely indifferent about the idea of alienating his fans, he’s not interested in placating them to the point of regression. If anything, Turner is perplexed by those who don’t see that their growth as a band is less about abandonment and more about evolving.
“Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I'm like, can't you see that [throughline]?” Turner says.“ I feel like we’ve got to move on… it’s been almost 10 years since [AM]. I don't think there's a way to keep doing that. And I think [we] sound like the same band that we did in the beginning.”
In short, Turner is ready for AM’s pomade-laden funeral pyre.
THROUGHOUT ALL OF Arctic Monkeys’ eras, Turner maintains an admirable level of faith in his fans; but maybe that’s because he doesn’t see all the shitposting on social. Turner famously — and, perhaps, smartly — doesn’t have a public social media account. In fact, his aversion has led his fans to jokingly refer to him as a Luddite who doesn’t know how to operate a smartphone.
So, does that mean we shouldn’t expect Turner to show up on TikTok one day and do a dance challenge?
Over Zoom, Helders quipped, “That’s the day I leave the band.”
“I’m not ruling it out!” Turner exclaims. Then, he adds, somewhat distressed, “There aren’t enough hours in the day! And this is not a criticism of anyone at all… I just don't know how I would be able to do a good job.”
No need. The TikTok generation has picked up his slack, and they’re out in full force waiting in line for the band at gigs and online. While old heads stick to the official forums to theorize the meaning behind song snippets (for a while, its members debated whether “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am” is about The Great Gatsby), the stan accounts who shitpost all day get the most spotlight. The band’s single “Body Paint” — a cynical love song, accompanied by a beautifully shot music video — has already been memed to death with Turner’s faraway staredown set to elevator music and clips of him playing guitar on a rotating platform compared to food heating up in the microwave. The shitposts come from a place of love, but it’s hard to imagine Turner having a full understanding of some of his loudest online fans’ antics. Still, it’s undoubtedly them who will help shape the narrative following The Car’s release, and help the band continue to build their legacy.
But it’s a fool's errand, bothering to have any real expectations going into a new Arctic Monkeys release. Every record has offered something different — even their sophomore album, Favourite Worst Nightmare, released just a year after their record-breaking debut, experimented with some darker elements that would be fully explored in the psych-rock-adjacent Humbug, turned lovesick in Suck It And See, terminally horny on AM and out of this world on Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.
No noise will prevent anyone from clamoring to see them live next year when they travel to North America, Europe, the U.K. and Ireland to promote The Car on their stadium tour; the bloodbath over concert tickets in recent weeks has become so unhinged that some fans have jokingly tried to cancel the band in an attempt to dissuade potential concertgoers from buying tickets. Every tweet announcing additional tour dates is met with fans wondering — or rather, demanding to know — why the band aren’t hitting their neck of the woods: “Come to Brazil in 2023;” “Drop Asia tour;” “Eastern Europe when?”
It’s a far cry from the parking lot.

Telling YOU🫵🏼 abt my upcoming FanComic!-
(Introduction post!-)
The AU and series as a whole is called Sm1ling.TMNT or S.TMNT for short, like a file name. It is still in production but lemme tell you a little about it!-
It’s a TMNT fancomic set in the year 2023 except it’s a little different. The early 2000s and 2010s instead of the nostalgic era going out of style it basically stayed and is mixed with the modern day setting of this comic. Flip phones are still widely used, MySpace is still a thing, YouTube looks the way it was meant to before all the updates but with modern day functionality. They also have advanced technology that is waaaay farther into the future than what we today know. Just don’t tell them that their fav things went out of style years ago, they’ll have a crisis.
It’s a little confusing but trust me it’s cool!-
The comic is also set from two completely different perspectives. It’s also filled with bunch of angst, funny moments, gore(I’m a horror artist so obviously there’s gotta be some blood and guts), action, romance >:].. THE WHOLE SHABANG!- yk all written and drawn by yours truely! This comic also touches lightly on topics like racist, sexism, xenophobia, bigotry, the topic of beauty standards and much more but it’s not the main focus and most of the time characters that act out these issues they get…taken care of- if yk what I mean >:3
Fn let me introduce you to our main cast of characters! Well…the important ones (with pictures but I apologize they’re wildly unfinished, brace yourself this is gonna be a little long)
Tumblr media
Griffin B. Corduroy (Juliet >:])
Griffin! Griff is a jokingly egotistical character who seems to know her worth to others and has a “don’t give a fuck” attitude to compliment her girly girl appearance(peak feminism). In reality she’s extremely temperamental with bad anger issues along with has past of issues with trichotillomania, dealing with stress, and body confidence issues. She’s on her own healing journey but it seems she’s doing it her own way…..(she is an original character)
Tumblr media
“APRIIIIIIL (L.) O’NEIL!!—”
April!! Our true detective and best big sister!(and older cousin to Griffin) a chilled out personality complimented by her caring attitude makes her like the mom of the group second to Leo despite being older than him. A little awkward in social situations (she is NOT a cool kid) can bring her to being slightly challenged with the turtles shenanigans as she’s prone to panicking but she’s working on it. Despite being an only child she did not grow up a lonely child, meeting both the turtles and her little cousin Griff at 9 which seemed not connected at the time later to be revealed like a butterfly effect as every event around it continues.
“Everything is always connected”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Casey and CJ (New Yorks Vigilantes)
Cassandra! Cassandra(also known as ‘Cass’ or more commonly ‘Casey’ despite the nickname being her little brothers first name) is a stoic teenager with a soft side. She’s slightly soft spoken with a masculine appearance yet feminine tone and often gets confused by others with her gender when in reality it doesn’t matter what they interpret her as, as she’s gender-fluid! She seems most comfortable and commonly referred to with she/her pronouns but finds it extremely flattering when called ‘handsome’ or referred to in a masculine sense. She’s a hockey player by day and a badass rollerblading vigilante by night. She is a strong woman and role model hopefully for others as well as her baby brother CJ especially after she got them out of an abusive household.
Little Casey!- Casey (also known as CJ) is Cassandra’s partner in justice as well as her baby brother! He’s a big boy meaning he’s four years old and goin strong!- his biggest role model is his big sister and he’s happy about it. She’s his favorite superhero!- if you see Casey you’ll see CJ as they’re always together and Casey never lets him out of her sight. Not after what they had to go through. He’s a good mannered rambunctious kid with a lot of energy. He wants to be just like his big sister that’s why he has his ears pierced as he was tired of wearing sticker earrings and wanted real ones. Casey was a little nervous about this at first but he took it like a champ when she pierced his ears. CJ also likes to help around Casey’s job! He pretends to sweep the floors and wipe down counters when he’s with her at her job at the tattoo shop she works at as a piercer. Casey’s boss loves having him around.
Tumblr media
Sensei(Master) Splinter
Yoshi! Once a rat in a pet store being taken care of with the bare minimum only to be thrown to the garbage bin when they thought he was dead for sleeping for too long. Now a humble street rat getting chased by everything around it until a little boy at the name of Yoshi. He got a new name his name was splinter but one day it was changed…the day Yoshi left him was the day he was renamed “Hamato Yoshi” the same as his own that he once had to remember him by as he was dumped down a sewer. But that was years ago….. That year he was blessed with his four sons that made up their odd little family. He seen what Yoshi did for him before he left so he followed in the nurturing steps of the only father he’s ever known. Yoshi is still with him in spirit of course. They are interlinked through the name they share an their soul connection not only as owner and pet but father and son. Yoshi’s spirit began watching splinter raise the turtles when they became tots as that’s when he passed. He warned splinter of a terrible danger and that’s when Splinter began to learn the ways of the Hamato with the help of Yoshi’s spiritual guidance and then taught his sons as well. Past his sad and empowering backstory he’s a silly old man that loves his boys and paints in his free time (reason to why the boys have their names)
Tumblr media
Hamato Leonardo
Leonardo! Leo(also referred to as ‘Leon’, ‘Nardo’, ‘Lame-o-nardo’ etc) is the eldest of four siblings total and the eldest of him and his brother Donnie who are twins. Don’t be fooled by his serious older brother front he’s not like that at all!- He only wears his glasses at home and contacts everywhere else and he has braces! He’s not cool at all, He’s more of a nervous wreck that cracks bad jokes to cope. Being leader is very important to him because it means (to him) he is his little brothers main protectors! He takes his job very seriously but he’s very emotional and emotion driven. A bit of a crybaby when it comes down to it and not often angry but when he is…it can get a little out of control. It took him a while to get his Katanas, how do you think he got that scar! Pretty embarrassing story- there was also the incident…..Rip Raphs tail.
Tumblr media
Hamato Donatello(Romeo >;3)
Donatello! Donnie (second eldest of four and youngest of a set of twins) is the obvious brains of the operation but that doesn’t help with the fact he’s little pretentious. He can be very cocky about his inventions and knowledge on things since he obviously sees it as cool and interesting…others…yk not so much- He’s more of a listener than a talker and is mostly quiet when he wants to be so sometimes when he wants to get a word in he has to interrupt others for them to actually listen. He keeps to himself a lot and isn’t the most outgoing but if you get him talking about some form of science (specifically chemistry or technology) you’ll see him as a whole new turtle. He can often be sarcastic even when it’s unintentional he doesn’t do it to be rude he’s just grown up around idiots so he does it to make a point (he loves his brothers I promise) though he’s not traditionally boyish usually he definitely has stereotypical male interests (which goes against his personality in some of his other versions in media) one of which is him being a huge sports fan especially basketball. Him and his brothers often go out at night to some empty courts and play. He’s alike his brothers in the ways of personality especially table manners…there’s almost zero. Absolute pigs they are- despite being turtles
Tumblr media
Hamato Raphael (sorry he’s super unfinished)
Raphael! The rebellious middle child- Raph is nonchalant and confident in his fighting ability but since he’s very anger prone he’s not listened to as much when it comes to plans but that’s okay…since most of his plans are extremely bad(he’s not really good at organizing) despite his rugged and intimidating look(he’s built like a linebacker I’d be scared too bruh) and nature he’s not all that mean. He knows sometimes he can get a little too angry and needs to tone it back a bit he’s working on it. He’s more of a stereotypical asshole character more of a bully than anything but honestly it’s his way of affection most of the time. Unless it’s Mikey. Mikey pisses him off sometimes. (He still loves him tho-) he’s a tough lover but when it comes to animals or kids he’s a big softy. He’s also very patient with others it’s surprising. Especially Mikey since he’s disabled and needs some extra time on certain things. Raph is genuinely caring when it comes to his family.
Tumblr media
Hamato Michelangelo
Michelangelo!1!1! The party dude of the group of course!- (also known as ‘MC Mikey’ and ‘the triple threat’) hes the definition of annoying younger sibling but in a lovable way- he can be a bit rude when joking with but it’s natural seeing who he’s grown up with. He doesn’t mean any harm by it genuinely it’s in an endearing way. He’s super active and flexible since he’s hyper mobile but it depends on the day since he’s invisibly disabled! (Like me! We have the same condition) He has A.M.P.S [insert orange ribbon] and it stands for Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome and it’s exactly how it sounds. It’s amplified and generalized chronic pain throughout the body without an actual source. It happens basically because the spine sends a pain signal to the brain like how it would when there’s tissue damage except there’s no cause for said pain single just causing intermediate or constant chronic pain anywhere in the body. He’s learned to live with his disability and for it not to get the better of him but he does hold back from running a lot like across buildings and just uses his rocket board Donnie has built for him. He also constantly does physical therapy throughout the week and takes some medication that Donnie gives to him throughout certain periods of the day so he stays out of constant pain. Past that he acts on impulse as any younger sibling would and usually gets saved by the scute of his shell by his older brothers. Despite this he can very well handle his own. He’s a strong fighter and an absolute tank! He’s a big dude and has an insanely high pain tolerance, reason to why he has the most tattoos despite being the youngest. despite him not being as strategic as his brothers or even his opponent his outside the box thinking is what makes him so good.
Tumblr media
Project Genocide. (Hamato Jennika)
Jennika. With a cog heart that ticks and barely beats on its own, it’s still made of gold…sort of
Project genocide was created as a gift for the Shredder by Baxter Stockman. A show of gratitude for his life being saved despite how he was trying to steal from the shredder. Though she was rushed and taken out of her test tube too early. Upon trying to breathe her lung immediately collapsed and filled with fluid, so she eventually died within a matter of minutes of being alive. She was then taken apart out of panic like some object and her organs got modified and individually preserved in a gelatin like substance that held them in place. Her head was put into a jar and a tube as her esophagus as she inhales the fluid in her jar that in which it’s the only thing she can safely breathe. She became this Frankenstein like creature but she could still feel and live like anyone else she just looked….different. She had her life support built into her and with the small flip of a switch she was alive again. She’d never be able to grow on her own or develop mentally forever stuck at age thirteen but she was alive. She is programmed to be a ruthless killing machine and follow orders..gaining her name Jennika stemming from her project name ‘Genocide’. Despite being a literal jarhead she’s swift and ruthless. She’s unmatched compared to some of the highest ranking foot soldiers she was perfect…so she was immediately marked by the foot..the branding hurt but it’s not like she hasn’t felt worse, right? She has built in Tekkō-kagi as a sort of homage to the shredder. They come from in between her knuckles. They were almost used to behead the youngest of the four she was modeled after and created to kill. But…what if she didn’t want to….?
Well maybe you’ll just have to read the comic when it comes out to answer your questions!!! EHEHEHHE 😈
Well that’s all!- if you have any general questions about this whole production just put it in my ask box and I’ll happily answer this is genuinely so fun for me!- I can’t wait for you all to read it ^_^
Also make sure to look out for all their finished character sheets if you wanna get a better look at them!- along with some pretty neat voice claims coming soon but you didn’t hear that from me >;3

As a member of Gen Z I have something I would like to say, which is a lot more serious I feel like than a lot of the things I reblog or post or whatever. But it's something that I feel like needs to be talked about, which is the mockery of Gen Alpha for rudeness and ignoring social rules and politeness and all that. And so I am going to attempt to explain my thoughts in a way that other people can understand which can be hard for me if the thought has already formed in my head and isn't spontaneous as I type. So bear with me.
So like many people I am on Instagram and Twitter and all that and I see a lot of videos and posts and everything about the "brattiness" of Gen Alpha kids and how they're rude and unsocialised. And lots of these people, calling these twelve year old children out for these issues, have placed their finger exactly on the real problem, though I don't think they really have processed that. If they did they wouldn't be making fun of it.
The reality is that these children who at this point are now twelve years old and beginning to interact with the world in a meaningful way, are the first generation of kids who were fully raised with high speed and stronger technology. These are the iPad kids in the wild. Like, even me and my younger brother who are on the lower end of Gen Z were born at a time when the Internet was in its MySpace and maybe early years of Facebook era. Nobody was giving these things to children just because they were still always considered new. New and constantly changing. But now we have the kids who were born in the twenty teens, when technology was a fact of life and yes a handy way to distract small kids. What's more, nobody was aware of the harm screen's like IPad and phone screens can do to a brain in its very important early stages of development.
So here are these kids now, entering the world. And their entire life they've had a archive of information and other people and things to do literally at their fingertips. Since birth even! And these technologies have interfered with their brain development right smack dab in the crucial years where kids learn about language and social interactions and how the bloody world works. But they learned it looking through or around the skewed filter of a phone screen. So here was the first stage of messed up brain development where they learned that the world works the way it does on chatrooms and in movies and tv shows, where people speak to eachother the way they do online, where their brain is always stimulated by something new just a few taps away. I mean, they learned this skewed version of the world as toddlers! This, for lack of a better description, human code has been embedded at the very base of their brain and everything else that comes after is just building off of that.
Then a few years later comes the pandemic. The big bad pandemic that ruined lives and fucked everyone over, especially the people who were still developing. And suddenly the order of the world has changed and their brains are developing around that strange new order. And this causes them to miss milestones in their brain development.
They're not in a classroom anymore. They can't connect with friends. They can't physically connect with people outside their bubble, in any way. No roughhousing on the playground, no visiting parks to swing around in. Their class is squares on a screen, and if they want to say something without other people hearing there's always the mute button. My point is that already limited social interaction (something essential in reaching many milestones in neural development and learning how to interact with the world) has just dropped to almost zero. Now EVERYTHING is filtered through a screen. Right smack dab in the most developmentally important years of these kids lives.
Even people my age have missed milestones! People in Grade 9 and 10 were far too grabby and overactive because we missed the developmental period where we learned how much touching is too much touching, characterized by people wrestling eachother and poking eachother excessively. AKA middle school boys. Yes, that is an essential part of development. And we missed that because of the pandemic.
So these kids' already fucked up neural pathways get wired in all the wrong ways. And we're surprised when they do not have the capacity to behave as a functioning human beings!?
Yes they are being rude. Yes they are being gross and unnecessarily mean. No I am not excusing them (or their parents) for that. But these poor human beings have the wrong base code! Their brains were built wrong, in the wrong way and the wrong order and to the wrong extents! Maybe, instead of making fun of and putting these literal children down for something they can't help (aka their literal brain development), maybe we should be putting effort into explaining why this is happening and Finding A Way To Fix It. AT THE SOURCE! Inform new parents about neural development and natural milestones. Explain why screen's are not good for literal babies. Educate, educate, educate.
And maybe we can save the disaster that is becoming the human race.

The Boondocks #21: “Attack of the Killer Kung-Fu Wolf-Bitch” | November 19, 2007 - 11:30PM | S02E06
In this episode, Granddad winds up on a blind internet date with a beautiful woman voiced by Aisha Tyler. What a wonderful turn of events for him; especially because he’s been on a string of dates with some DISHONEST WOMEN, who have shown up to dates not looking like their significantly more wankable myspace profile photograph. Could it be too good to be true?
Yes, it could. It turns out that the woman, Luna, is a deadly kung-fu martial artist with an affinity for wolves (hence the title). She spooks the entire family so bad that they feign an emergency trip out of town in order to ghost her. When she finds out she reacts poorly, mostly because of her bitchy-sounding friend who eggs her on to do some Kill Bill shit to them over the phone.
This is sort of a goofier one. Not really much hard-hitting satire to speak of, just a wacky plot about love gone wrong. There’s flashbacks to the woman’s past, including her time at a kumite, the underground tournament to the death from the motion picture Bloodsport. She won, in scenes that resemble the high video game Mortal Kombat. But will she bestow a Mortal Kombat 2 style “Friendship” on the Freeman family?
The goofiness of the episode is really essential. The main problem one might have with this episode is the way the family reacts to Luna’s confession that she is a deadly fighter. There doesn’t seem to be much of a downside to just accepting her and her past, especially since the alternative to that plays out so poorly for our favorite non-yellow family. The fact that this confrontation results in her undoing (spoilers: she dies at the end) is bothersome, because she’s a pretty likable character. She’s misguided in a way that shouldn’t be fatal, and yet she is. But the goofy tone sorta does away with that. I was genuinely curious if this episode was particularly disliked for this reason, but it gets fairly above average marks on IMDB, so I guess they succeeded. Speaking of yellow families, this almost works as a companion piece to “Homer’s Enemy” (aka the Frank Grimes episode). It’s comparable! I’ve compared the two, goddamn it.
I’m just glad this one didn’t have a bunch of rap references to read up on. Thank you, Boondocks.

MAIL BAG
I started my post two nights ago (sorry for missing a night I GOT UNEXPECTEDLY BUSY YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE ME) by telling you about my gastrointestinal distress. I am going to use this space to tell you that today I brought a bottle of astroglide to work with me because I did not shit all day yesterday, and I could tell that it was going to be an ordeal. I lubed my canal while in a clandestine public bathroom on my workroute. I let out an enormously long one, very sturdy I’m pleased to say. But then I dumped so much mud on top of it that it crested the surface of the water in the toilet. When I looked down, the solid log was laying across the hole, and the mud dump on top caused the resulting mess to look uncannily like a banana split. I’m pleased to say there was no strawberry sauce. I had to flush three times to get it all down.
Speaking of shit, here’s some letters I got reacting to yesterday’s Tim & Eric post:
90s SNL is just as bad as any other era of SNL. Mike Meyers and Rob Schneider just did straight up retarded shit every week, it just had cooler bands.
Oh, I think the SNL renaissance is real. But the quality is more negligible than most people realize. Watching full episodes of all but a few episodes of the show is a chore, always.
The John Landis remark on your absolutely scathing takedown of Vacation is astounding. I've seen nitpicking but that's a nit no one can scratch. Also theres like 20 incidents of that kind of pull way in Tom Goes To The Mayor.
Tom Goes to the Mayor is an inferior product compared to Awesome Show, and deserves a more critical eye. Especially since season one of Awesome Show dazzled this TV-obsessed Weldon.
yer vacation thing is nuts. some real hater/cinema sins shit. raz is funny!
I think I ultimately like the episode, I am pretty disappointed that the wraparound bits weren’t as strong. Season premiere, guys. Look alive. I yelled at a woman for you (one of the people who came over was a sexually active woman!)

Also thinking about j star and his entire everything keeping him famous, even with his anti blackness, anti Semitisim, willingness to defend people like sh*ne d*wson.
And sh*ne d*wson existence and still having fans with little to no long term repercussions despite his everything.
THIS FOR SURE, especially as jeffree star is starting to transition his life into more offline, not in front of the camera business work ie the yak meat stuff and whatever other business he claims to have in addition to his social media work. the way he literally paid off a kid he drugged, raped, and threatened not to come forward from the myspace era in 2020ish. the million other accusations that get dismissed because the 2000s were "suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a different time". his almost exaggerated obsession with only owning designer products, down to the minute detail. like ik people say influencers are terrifyingly bateman-esque but jeffree star is the spitting image for sure
shane dawson is the cockroach of youtube and a very similar caliber of The Worst as jeffree is but somehow more insidious bc he goes for the relatable anxious hashtag gay slob approach despite his nauseating wealth
and like........................................ these r just social media people. imagine the actual like... behind the scenes powerful "luis" gays with no platform, no social media presence past posting selfies by an infinity pool in like greece or something just fully stepping on the heads of those lower than them and getting by with no eye on them or repercussions that truly matter

wow, i watched a clip of paramore's song for twilight and it oddly threw me into nostalgia memory mode
Tumblr media
i was in 7th grade and i remember hearing all the girls in my class talk about twilight and so i decided to pick up a book
but it was new moon and only once was i half way into it i realized "hey this might be the 2nd book...............and why i dont know whats happening" or i figured i could assume, idk
i still really liked it and so i picked up the first book
oh FUCK i was HOOKED, i would wake up at 4 am before school just to read!!!!!! I also had just discovered nico nico douga and so i would play the medley songs and read fjdsklfjsl
i mentioned i would wake up to read and teachers thought i was a smart kid finally but little did they know i was just reading twilight
then i would search fanart or anything i could to get visuals since the movie was only announced and no previews released
i found stephenie meyers blog and would read whatever i could, later on I remember she had the rough draft of the only just released edward book?? I remember reading it in 2007!!! so crazy!! its like food fight (2012)
once the trailer was released, i was a bit disappointed in how they looked, much diff than how i imagined, especially jacob!!!!! idk, i thought jacob in the first movie had such a distracting wig on so i didnt like his design LOL the later movies i was like hell YES
i was a jacob girl and my mom became a edward girl after the movies
i got the first round of twilight shirt merch with alice on it and a thin ass jacket with twilight on the back. alice's hair was becoming popular and i really wanted it too. I think I ended up getting her cut but obviously her hair is styled so my hair instead just looked like an avon lotion MLM sales lady...
The next few movies my mom was actually the one who would get us midnight screening tickets with her friend. i didnt even have to ask LOL! she was so into it, such a phenomenon
afterwards we would hit the kind-of-waffle-house and try to get sleep before school. For some reason couldnt miss it even tho we were out til 2 or 3 am lol
those years were such a rough, terrible, traumatic time in my life but the obsessions and internet roaming was some of the best times and memories.
i was also into gaia and would love walking around on the world, seeing cake-kun frozen on the waterfountain in the town square, and try to make friends and get a cool avi outfit
i remember someone named super? saia neko chan or something, i always thought of the shipping company, SAIA, and now I work w receiving from SAIA LOL, not a coincidence but a funny thought
iscribble.net was also around, i would DREAM, LITERALLY DREAM, of getting the full permission of all the tools once i drew enough or something like that. I was obsessed and would also wake up at 3-4 am just to draw. I wish wish WISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had screen recorded the loading screen of my oldest draw room, "epic girls only"
we made an effort to never clear the board and let it have a history, an archive of our art. it would take foreeeeeeeeeevvvvverrrrrr but it was always so fun to watch our art over the years flash by and be erased and redrawn. there really wont be a time like that again i think, same with pretty much all the early internet era stuff like first era of youtube, tumblr, and twitter. they were just soooo different. tumblr wasnt callouty. youtube would let you edit the design of your channel like myspace and it was the best, the comments i would interact w were also different. I am now having kids today talk to my comments i made at their age on the same videos!??@?@?@ thats so crazy
a my melody opening video i commented on in 2007 or something is still up and so just a few months ago, young kids replied to the comment asking if i still am alive or old loooooooooooool so cool!!!!
interacting w the past and future in one

———  BASICS  !
(PEN)NAME: Rae. At least that’s what I use for tumblr and discord: other platforms have other ones.
PRONOUNS: She/her. And tbh, I really prefer you use she/her with me. I’m not offended by they/them, but some health issues and constant bullying in my younger years makes me very sensitive to he/him.
ZODIAC  SIGN: Leo-Virgo cusp. And it fits too perfectly.
TAKEN  OR  SINGLE:  Very much taken. I got engaged right before COVID hit in early 2020 and my fiancé and I closed/moved into our first house together last month. He is also very nerdy but text-based RP isn’t his thing (he’s more into video games, computer games, and D&D). Besides that, he’s a popular Twitter shitposter. It’s funny because pretty much the same drama that unfolds on Twitter happens on Tumblr so we compare notes and facepalms. And while I’m sometimes active on Twitter and his group chat, he’s never made an appearance over here (yet).
———  THREE  FACTS  !
Some of the jobs I’ve held in my life include: personal trainer, makeup artist, fashion show dresser, fashion show model, census enumerator, blogger, and now I work in marketing and communications. Funny enough, my university major is not in any of these (this is what happens when you graduate during a recession).
I used to lift a lot of very heavy weights with the intention of competitive powerlifting. But I had a trainer I just didn’t get along with and so it turned me off from the gym for awhile. I’ve yet to find a new gym that works for me (and I didn’t have time during the past few months due to the house hunt + work + writing here). Currently to get the extra weight I’ve gained off, I take consistent walks near the park I now live by (very charming! I just stay away from the food trucks during the evenings), eat a very low calorie diet, and corset train (I’ve done corset training on and off for years but got more into it during COVID and working from home more often).
My current project is overhauling one of the spare bedrooms in the new house to become my walk-in closet. I’m working with a closet company for the design and install, and it’s very exciting (mostly because I purged so much before moving that 1. I don’t need to do that and 2. Everything is still mostly organized in boxes)! I’m not much for interior décor but picking out a throw rug and choosing new hangers? Fun! After that, it’s heading to IKEA or The Container Store to build out my cosplay storage space.
———  EXPERIENCE  !
PLATFORMS USED: AOL chatrooms, AIM, Yahoo!Groups, YIM, Livejournal/Deadjournal/Greatestjournal, online forums, email, and Tumblr. I missed the Myspace/Facebook era of RP due to being in uni and not having the time for it.
To that end, I’ve been roleplaying longer than some muns have been alive. But for a concrete number...I think I can trace my first RP account to the year 2000. Remembering my first muses and plots, that sounds about right.
———  MUSE  PREFERENCE  !
GENDER: Mostly female muses. It’s not that I can’t write male muses, I can and I have. I just generally don’t enjoy it as much, and I find more female muses that inspire me to write than male ones. I do bring in male muses as more NPC/side characters though. I think those are important for building upon a muse’s life and connections! No muse is an island (unless you’re roleplaying as an island. Then by all means!).
LEAST FAVOURITE FACE(S): I don’t really have faceclaims I dislike specifically, but there are series I despise. Mostly I get confused when I see faceclaims from very popular franchises being used for OCs and I’m just “Yeah, I’m pretty much always going to see them as the canon muse.” Danganronpa especially throws me on this. My least favorite anime of all time is Death Note so I tend to cringe whenever I see muses with those FCs, I guess.
MULTI OR SINGLE: Single blog. Single blog always. For one, I tend to hyperfocus on writing a muse for many years where blogs are concerned (for things like forums or chatrooms, it’s easier to try out new things). But mostly, I’d feel bad if I had a multi and I was only wanting to really write 1 or 2 muses on it, especially if muns were requesting others.
———  FLUFF  /  ANGST  /  SMUT  !  ♡
FLUFF: Yes, but usually shorter threads or as part of a bigger plot. I do like seeing muses happy! But I also think in a long-term, larger story with my threads most of the time, especially if our muses have a close dynamic: best friends, found family, romance are the big ones. If the only interaction is fluff, I get bored: there has to be some sort of conflict, problem to solve, etc. And not necessarily between the muses! It can be something they’re both having to face together.
ANGST: Love it, but don’t love it for the sake of being edgy. Considering that I write Sonia and SDR2 happened though? Any post-game thread will likely have angst. I don’t want every interaction to be angst but I do like having some of it in there.
SMUT: I do like smut. I do write smut on occasion, but I don’t enjoy writing porn without plot. I’m a much bigger fan of a well-written intimacy scene from a skilled romance writer than something that reads too pornographic. I don’t write these too often because I’m a fan of slow-burns and dislike most smut memes: it just feels strange sending it in for random sexytimes. I don’t write smut that often, mostly because many of my muse’s ships aren’t at that stage and/or the mun I’m writing with doesn’t want to write it. If that changes, I’d consider making a sideblog for those threads.
PLOT  /  MEMES: Plot OOC but send memes that look interesting. In most cases, I think threads turn out more engaging and fun when there’s plotting involved but that’s me!
TAGGED BY: @causalitylinked (thank you!)
TAGGING: @despairfiles , @heartheaded , @orderbourne , @dcviated , @awesomeuchuu , @hxpelessnurse , @electricea , @whitecrowns-blackthrones , @litoredeem ,  @dxfiedfxte and you, if you’d like to fill this out!

The history of Social Media
Tumblr media
It’s hard to imagine a time when there was no internet and no Social media. Social Media is a part of modern live, just like telecommunication and the internet itself. We all use it and exceptions are quite rare, especially among the younger generation. How did Social Media emerge? And how did it evolve? Let’s take a deep dive into this subject.
The start of Social Media
Social Media is of course tightly interwoven with internet. In the past, when you were looking for information or wanted to engage in social contact, it often meant you had to go out. For information you went to the library and for social contact to friends, bars playgrounds etc.
With the emergence of the internet we suddenly had the world in our grasp from behind our computers. Later in the 90’s Social Media slowly started to arise. In the early 21st century Social Media really started to grow significantly with platforms like MySpace, Twitter and Facebook. For the first time people could share their thoughts, believes and ideas with as many people as they’d like, known and unknown alike.

The evolution of Social Media
This revolutionary concept seemed to genuinely want to bring people together over great distances. But tthrough the years the influence of the central organizations behind these platforms started growing. Arbitrary censorship is a good example of one of the drawbacks of these traditional Social Media platforms. There are quite a few examples of that from Facebook and Twitter, growing each year.
Also a big factor in the evolution of Social Media was that companies started taking more and more interest in the commercial potential of the data of Social media users like you and me. Social Media was and is a true treasury for commercial companies with lots of potential clients easily reachable. The traditional centralized Social Media platforms became very commercial and started collecting data points of their users to sell for marketing activities. You can imagine how convenient it was (and is) for companies to easily reach thousands of potential clients of which they already know are interested in the goods they sell. Obviously respect for privacy came in second place. Or should I say last?
My thoughts
Tumblr media
So what are my thoughts on this subject? I think it’s time for a new era of Social Media. Let’s call it Social Media 2.0.
First of all Social Media should be decentralized and policies about censorship and privacy should be decided upon by the community or users instead of a central management. Furthermore, income should not come from companies who are praying on the private data of users. In other words, Social Media should evolve, but should also go back to basic: It should be about the users, their content and bringing people together. About people sharing with the world without restrictions. But who will fill these shoes?
Good thing I found a project where all these things are combined. A web3 based decentralized Social Media platform where the users are in control, where censorship is minimized and where privacy is respected. But maybe the most revolutionary about it is the way creators and users can make money. Interested how, check out their website! The project is called Solcial and I advise everyone to check it out.
