I’m rereading Chainsaw Man and seeing this panel again hit me with just how serious Denji is about education.

It comes after the Bomb Devil arc so Reze’s words really did impact him that deeply.

Not sure if Denji ever expressed his desire to attend school while he was still working with Public Safety, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they wouldn’t let him. But whether he told anyone or not, this was clearly Denji’s next best option, so he watches educational TV everyday because he wants to learn and be knowledgeable.

Then it makes me think of Nayuta and how Denji wants her to live a better life than he did, and how this partially translates into Nayuta going to college. Denji’s still that serious about education that he’s willing to work his ass off just to make it happen for Nayuta, and yet he doesn’t seem to plan the same for himself. He’s either given up on the notion or simply believes going to college is just not possible for him.
