Okay I know this is a long shot but you know what I would like for my birthday next month? Art of my characters. I haven't really been able to draw anything in months because my job basically consumes every moment of my life right now, and I miss them. 🥺
Here are the ones I'd love to see art of:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Penelope is my main girl, the apple of my eye, my little Halfling popstar who's a bundle of anxiety and spunk.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Diana is all sass and spontaneity. She is head-over-heels for her patron Nimue, and would do anything Nimue asked of her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vivi is Penelope's best friend, and she's goofy and chaotic. She loves folklore and myths and gets a kick out of pop culture. (She's an NPC in our Fate DnD game, so our DM and I basically share her lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Johni is Penelope's girlfriend, who just got out of an unfair warlock contract. She's still learning to be more confident in herself and her abilities outside of the contract. (She's another NPC in our game, but this is another case where we share her lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sonnet is a sweet, affectionate Tiefling with a big heart who has a wild streak a mile wide. She is able to generate flowers and plants wherever she goes, and gifts them to people she considers friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hyacinth is Sonnet's mom. She's an Eladrin from the Feywild who's incredibly laid-back. She tends to have an "eh, this is fine I guess" outlook on... basically everything. She likes to sleep in trees.
(Art credits in order of appearance: @makiokuta, CR Scannell, @pianta, myself, Maki again, @judilyart, me again, @heroicn0nsense, Picrew, Maki again, The Honey Bun, Az again, Az again, @cookyys-closet, Judy again, another Picrew, Az again, Ninneko)

for adoration grow - tobiizu unconventional hanahaki au - 476/?
Izuna smiled with no humour in it, only grim and hollow victory. But Tobirama continues before he can speak.
"Can we be just dangerous enough that we minimise the evils thereof?" Tobirama asked.
"What do you mean?" Izuna asked.
Tobirama's mouth tightened, and he visibly rearranged the words in his head, and started on an unexpected topic.
"Do you keep dogs?" Tobirama asked.
Izuna blinked.
"Uh, personally? No, I don't— not sure we even have any in the compound, the ninneko would hate…" Izuna shook his head, not sure he should be saying that much. "Let's just say we tend to be cat people."

Dating Kiba Inuzuka (Kiba x Reader)
First Date
Your first date with Kiba was at the Konoha Zoo. You dragged him by the hand, excitedly taking him to the tiger exhibit. He wanted to see the wolves first, but he just couldn't resist your enthusiasm. He didn't want to admit it, but the big cats looked pretty fucking cool. He was also very impressed with your knowledge of zoology as you fervently prattled off the scientific names for every animal you visited that day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Lazy Saturday Afternoon
You and Kiba always argue about whether dogs or cats are better, but you find some middle ground by alternating between the dog and cat cafés you frequent. Sometimes you even see Kakashi visiting the Shiba Inu café, he does have a lot more free time since his retirement. You each have a fondness and appreciation for your partner's café of choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Yearly Tradition
Once a year there's a Ninneko show that visits Konoha. You're always interested learning more about ninja cat breeding, so you make sure to clear your schedule weeks in advance. Kiba doesn't have much PTO, but he knows how important this show is to you, so he tells Kōtarō in no uncertain terms that he won't be responding to his pager that day, at all.
Tumblr media
Guilty Pleasure Date Night
Although he'll never admit to it, Kiba likes it when you take silly selfies together while visiting your favourite maid café. You always pick the cat ears as your accessory, for both him and yourself. He begrudgingly makes a spectacle of putting them on, but it's impossible for him to say 'no' to you. Maybe it's just the atmosphere? He can't help but smile when he sees how happy you are shooting a "nya~" in his direction.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you get back home you ask him for "Service with a smile, awoo?" and he eagerly obliges. He can't resist fulfilling all of his princess's desires. 💖

I don't vibe w headcanons of snow leopard summons bc I think it should be an inherent quality of summons that they're not terribly threatening under normal circumstances...until they show up the size of a house. So 'haha little froge :3--OH GOD'. Whereas a completely normal snow leopard can still take your head off.
Naruto itself already screwed the pooch (hah) by having both ninken and dog summons exist, raising the question of what exactly the difference is between the two (ninken seem worse in every possible metric, ask me to expound on this at a later time), I know, this is just me trying to narratively triage this shit.
...it kinda pains me, but I kinda think all summon families should be creatures native to Japan. Either native or impactful enough through folklore to be relevant to Japan...which tragically excludes my own personal bias, skunks :(
Every character doesn't need to have a summon; it shouldn't be like an automatic upgrade where you've reached level 20 and now you get your summon. That cheapens it. Characters should have a specific benefit they get from having a summon. It's not just flavor.
But Tobirama is listed as a summoning expert in databooks, so yeah he should have summons. I could see him with cats, although it's the Uchiha who have a connection with the ninneko (although although summons =! ninja animals).
I think it becomes a narrative problem-solving thing--what does this character get from summons that they don't get from any other technique? From that angle, I can't see any reason to give, say, Hashirama summons; wood clones can do basically anything you'd want summons to.
It was that amazing platonic soulmate fic that brought up the idea of Tobirama having yokai summons, and that just clicked in my head and felt so right. Explains both what he'd get from summons (esoteric/cursed knowledge) and why he's never seen summoning in canon (yokai are understandably unpopular, also umbrellas aren't great fighters).
But I really, honestly, non-memely think that he wouldn't have cool yokai, like kitsune or anything. He'd have tsukumogami!!
Tsukumogami parallel Tobirama's work ethic--a tool that's used enough grows a soul. The idea that Tobirama views himself as a tool--a weapon--is fanon, but it's very workable fanon that fits with his narrative role as Hashirama's support exceptionally well.
So tsukumogami summons...Naruto got prophecy shit from the frogs, right? And it's not spelled out, but it's implied Tsunade refined her healing techniques working with the slugs. So I think tsukumogami might have given Tobirama the blueprints for hiraishin, maybe even shadow clones? Not the whole technique of course, but the summons made him realize it was possible and how a human might replicate the effects.

As Pretty As You Are

Tamaki likes where her and Kiba are at, right now.
It’s not too serious, but she can tell he’s smitten with her. It’s what Daku, her closest ninneko, whispers to her, anyway. He’s suspicious of Kiba, and doubly suspicious of Akamaru, but has an open mind. He says that Kiba is doing everything right, so far.

It’s a beautiful day in the Village Hidden in the Leaves. The Hokage tower stands tall with all previous Hokage’s faces on display behind it, as well as the current. Faces the citizens of the Leaf know quite well. Hashirama Senju, founder of the Leaf. Tobirama Senju, his brother. Hiruzen Sarutobi, God of Shinobi. Minato Namikaze, the Yellow Flash. And of course, the current Hokage himself, Rock Lee, Handsome Devil of the Leaf.
Within the Hokage tower, at the very top, in the esteemed Hokage’s office, Rock Lee is on his hands, nearing one thousand standing pushups while Shikamaru Nara frantically pens a letter to Neji Hyūga.

omg i literally want you to answer every single one of those naruto asks but i will be reasonable about this
11) how would you wear your headband
12) what would your ninjutsu be
13) what ninjas would you want as your teammates
27) what animal would you summon
35) what ninja occupation would you choose
this is still too many and i'm sorry
Ah Cher, you’re so cute. 💗💗 Depending on how many I get asked, I might mop up the others cause these are some really fun questions for sure!!
11 - how would you wear your headband
Either in the traditional place over my forehead with it tucked under my twin ponytails or around my neck like Temari and Hinata.
12 - what would your ninjutsu be
Sensory ninjutsu - able to sense chakra through emotional states with an ability to discern how stable a person is by reading their chakra. Sight is not required to perform it but the larger the group of people present, the less accurate it becomes.
13 - what ninjas would you want as your teammates
Answered here! ^^
27 - what animal would you summon
Ninneko for sure. Now, ninja cats are not affiliated with specific villages or shinobi but I like to think that I’d be able to form a close enough bond with one or two that they’d allow me to summon them if needed.
35 - what ninja occupation would you choose
Either a medical-nin or an academy instructor. Actually, the more I think about it… probably the latter is more suited to me. I’d probably specialise in helping to develop interpersonal relationships and communication between squad mates.

@theredpalace sent for Leave an Object Meme:
"Right! You better be happy for this super gift!" Hahari comes rolling in for Christmas. "I've got you something super duper exclusive!"
In a fancy card holder, is a Nekoluxe Gold Coupon Card...good for fifty percent sales on all Ninneko products. It's very shiny with a gold mackerel on the face.
"And if you find a store the Ninneko supply to, you get a discount from them too! Nifty right?"
Tumblr media
Sakura smiles expectantly; like a giddy child waiting for a present. Still catching her breath, cheeks flushed, green eyes wide as she looks at her friend. It was only but a few minutes earlier when she rushed out from training as soon as Tsunade dismissed her and told about Hahari wanting to see her.
Hearing the word super and gift all in one sentence made Sakura feel excited and slightly embarrassed. Not that she didn't have any for Hahari ( it is already gift-wrapped in gold and red wrapping paper ), only she didn't have it with her.
" Mou, you are early with the presents, Hahari-chan! Thank you! I have yours at home, maybe we can get it later? "
Both hands extends towards Hahari to receive the present. Thankful for her friend's thoughtfulness and quite intrigued what it is. After all, it is shiny. And gold....
" Nekoluxe Gold Coupon Card..? " Sakura received the item, checking both sides with a curious expression on her face. It looks really fancy, no doubt about it. But the ignorance where ( or how exactly ) she can use the item, elicits a nervous laugh from Sakura, " Ne, Hahari-chan. Which shops can I use this exactly? "

Isn’t it canon that the Uchiha mainly have the nineko summons? So like why did you choose Genma to also be able to summon the cats as well? Are we going to get Genma interacting with the Uchiha clan to learn more about the ninja cats??
The Uchiha didn’t have a canonical summoning contract with the ninneko. They left a large supply cache, possibly without Konoha’s knowledge, in the abandoned city Sora-ku, in the care of an old, human woman known as Nekobaa. She herself has several cats with her, including at least two whom Sasuke identifies as ninja cats, but she’s not an Uchiha herself, and it’s not clear she’s even a ninja. (Naruto Chapter 354 is where they first appear)
We decided on cats for Genma as a summons because we wanted to give him a summoning contract, and cats seemed like an interesting element to introduce to the group, as a counterpoint to Kakashi’s dogs, and just because we liked the idea, to be honest.
As for Genma interacting with the Uchiha... since it’s not clear Konoha even knows about the Uchiha cache in Sora-ku, there’s no reason the Uchiha having any association with ninneko would be on anyone’s radar.
Most importantly, though, we’re very much an AU, so your milage may vary considerably with respect to canon. If we think something is dumb (like the ninneko as they appear in canon) we have given ourselves carte-blanche to ignore it and write something better. So basically, for your purposes, pretend Chapter 354 never happened, and you’ll probably enjoy Genma’s cat-summoning storyline a lot more :D

Wow I too forgot it was December because busy with backstage stuff, so let me dust off a cached plot bunny for the occasion. Would you ever write an outsider Pov of a Retired Ninneko as a bookstore/bodega cat?
A/N: Hello again, damnsmartblueboxes! :D (Also, break a leg if you meant theater backstage stuff?)
Hm, I’ll be honest, when I think of a bodega cat I mostly think of Dimension 20’s Unsleeping City La Gran Gata But I love the idea of a magical society of cats that have just been secretly watching over humanity for… something?
Then again, with it being specifically nin-neko it’s not actually a magical society of cats, and I don’t know if they’re watching over all of humanity in general so much as looking for something specific…
Oh, okay, I know what to do!
~
Momo has been stationed in this town ever since she earned her vest—though, of course, she does not wear it for espionage reasons—monitoring and protecting this little corner of the Elemental Nations. She collects information, sending reports to the summon realm every month, minimizes the rodent population, and one time even scared off some would be bandits (although that had more to do with them being especially superstitious than any battle prowess on her part.)
Sometimes, though rarely, she receives orders. More often than not it’s to keep an eye out for specific person, from civilian merchant to foreign nin or even missing nin—in case they pass through her town. But never to engage with them, just report back.
This time, though, she’s given a time frame and a pass code and instructions to—if she finds them worthy—make contact.
Momo is not old enough to remember when the Uchiha clan were more than just a murdering, monstrous traitor and his little brother with ambitions of revenge. One of her sisters from an earlier litter remembers: she had been in contract with an Uchiha Akemi, a chunin whose specialty was genjutsu and stealth; well suited for the Cats, observant and with wit as sharp as claws.
None of which helped her against a teen prodigy bent on massacre.
It’s easy for the humans to forget, with the clan whittled down to two, that not all of the Uchiha had been powerhouse warriors. Some had contributed in their own quiet ways. Dutiful and loyal, though the village hadn’t recognized it until too late, part of a larger support structure that still feels their loss keenly.
Cats are not one for leaving things be.
Momo, like any properly trained Cat observer, has more than one post within the town. Her primary post is the market—the better to run off any rodents who think to intrude on her territory—but her favorite is the bookstore where the store owner has set up a pillow in a basket for her. Its here where she sees the pair of Konoha ANBU for the first time, undercover in civilian plainclothes and searching for their mission objective.
They say the pass code to the bookstore employee who only blinks at them in confusion before saying they don’t have anything by that title in stock. The ANBU thank him before leaving, and after a few moments of head start, Momo follows after them.
One of them notices her, the boy, but other than smiling, doesn’t do much with the information.
They go to the market for information, ostensibly a couple traveling west to visit Wind Country’s new oasis, looking for the girl’s cousin who is supposed to meet them here before they all go together. The boy asks if there’s been any trouble on the road, maybe they should wait until a ninja clears it out—is there one around? Subtle. Effective.
They’re not bad, for humans.
Before Towa and Komachi worked with Hawk-taicho, they mostly did pair missions. Nothing too strenuous combat wise, more reconnaissance than the mind bending, impossibilities they perform now with Red Team. Not that they don’t enjoy being part of Red Team—a stable squad is better than being rotated around or matched with other pairs they don’t mesh with—but sometimes its nice to go back to smaller, simpler missions with just the two of them.
And if it happens to coincide with the chunin exams in Mist, where the Hokage is being escorted by two very powerful shinobi known for mind bending impossibilities, well. Red Team is a masks on team and neither of them are going to say anything.
It would help their mission, though, if they knew who their contact is in town.
No obvious shinobi presence, though that is to be expected. No concealed shinobi presence either, which isn’t too bad—many points within Konoha’s web of espionage are recruited civilians. But there are no knowing glances, or subtle gestures, no responses to the pass code that Hawk-taicho provided them.
Also no clear instructions about what the pass code is supposed to lead to. An information exchange? A supplies pick up? Entry into a special club—more special than ANBU, that is. (Towa and Komachi have both heard of the Kunoichi Club, though only Komachi currently identifies as such. For an organization so well known, recruitment is a mystery.)
So they tour the town, peppering the pass code in conversation casually, scanning for responses, and fend off the growing dread that they’ve somehow failed this mystery mission from Hawk-taicho.
After a few hours of following them around her town, Momo decides to put them out of their misery.
Towa is quietly freaking out while Komachi plies him with taiyaki in an effort to ignore her own anxiety when an orange cat saunters up to them and jumps. Towa reflexively catches it, forming a loose cradle with his arms where it begins purring.
“The bookstore cat,” Komachi says.
“Did it follow us the whole day?” Towa asks. He sounds better already, though Komachi should have figured.
“Yes,” the cat answers.
Komachi’s instinct is to grab the possible threat out of her partner’s arms and chuck it far from the both of them.
Towa, thankfully, is a little more reserved: he raises the cat so they’re at eye level with each other and says, “Ladies don’t start fights?”
And the cat responds with a feline grin, the other half to their pass code, “But they can finish them.”
~
A/N: Holiday gatherings threw off my flow so I forgot what I had planned exactly in the middle of fighting, but hopefully it all made sense to y’all.
If it’s of interest to anyone, this was the little outline/brainstorm blurb I had and I wish I had done it justice:
“the idea that the uchiha had so many different legacies that were all destroyed, not just the main family’s / crazy powerful sharingan nonsense and that in order for sasuke to revive his clan its not just about blood and jutsu but about support network and community and all i’m saying is that he’s going to secretly adopt towa and komachi via sideways ninneko summons”

An au where Itachi is reincarnated as Sasuke's cat and subtlety helps him make good life choices.
I actually had a drabble for this waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back at the beginning of this blog.
Sasuke finds the kitten during a storm. The rain doesnt bother him, but he hears the kitten's cries of fear and follows them to a pathetic looking bundle of black fur. Before Sasuke even realizes what he's doing, he's scooped the bundle up in his arms and he finds a shelter to build a fire so that the poor creature can dry off.
He doesnt intend to keep the kitten. But he feeds it in the morning and a pair of dark eyes stare up at him and he feels something that he cant really identify at first that makes him pick the kitten back up and nestel it on top of his pack.
From then on, it isnt just Sasuke on his own. This black cat accompanies the Uchiha everywhere he goes. It always cuddles close to him on nights when his nightmares are bad. When he is thinking about Sakura the kitten starts batting his cellphone around until he calls her. He has to remember to feed the kitten and it makes him remember to eat himself. Just generally having a little life to look after means he has to be more conscious of the decisions he makes.
When he goes home, the cat becomes Sadara's shadow. It's always next to her. Itachi's way of protecting his niece.
Sasuke asks Tenzo at one point if the cat might be a ninneko because it doesnt behave like a normal cat and it always looks at him with dark eyes that seem too intelligent for a normal cat but Tenzo swears that it isnt a Ninnecko. Though, after watching it prowl through the shadows, eyes flashing red for the briefest second anytime someone gets too close to Sakura, Sadara or Sasuke, he has his suspicions on what the cat really is.

Skyfall - Kasari Hatake (Kakashi's Daughter)
(Prologue) Scroll 3 - The Mission
Kakashi felt the breeze of the door when Sayuri left quickly and he heard her spriting footsteps down the hallway. He didn't want to be in this situation where he would have to explain himself when he wasn't quite sure what happened. He will tell the Hokage everything he knows. What he's mostly worried about is that he's probably going to receive punishment for killing Rin, even though it wasn't his fault. Deep down he does want that punishment because his guilt is eating at him.
"Kakashi, please explain what happened."
"Well, I was on the battlefield when I noticed Rin was missing. Some people had told me that she was kidnapped by mist shinobis to be a test subject, so I tracked her using my ninken. We eventually found her in a cave under a genjutsu. When we were leaving, she began to act strange and she mentioned having someone or something inside her. Then she asked me to kill her for the safety of the village, but I couldn't do that to her. We were overwhelmed by the number of shinobis and we were quickly surrounded. Rin still persisted that I should kill her, and when I was about to attack one of them she got in front of them and... I killed her with my Chidori." There was a moment of silence right before he continued. "That's when I collapsed and I didn't see anything after that. I remember waking up to a slaughter. Every mist shinobi around me was dead and I didn't know why. There were tree roots and blood all over the place, which weren't there before. I started hyperventilating, and that's when I was knocked out by Sayuri, I'm guessing. Sayuri was taking me back when I woke up... and from there we came back" Kakashi watched the Hokage while he analyzed the information he was given. He would need Sayuri's perspective to make a clearer analysis.
"I see," the Hokage said while he was analyzing. "You mentioned tree roots, right?" Kakashi gave him a simple nod. "Hm."
Kakashi was waiting for the punishment he deserved when the Hokage spoke up again.
"Kakashi, I understand what happened, so I'll let you go rest up before I send you out on another mission."
Kakashi looked up wide-eyed at the Hokage, who was now staring at the paperwork on his desk. He was certain that he was going to get some sort of punishment.
"You may leave now, Kakashi," the Hokage told him. Kakashi turned around and walked out the door, surprised by what just occurred. He slowly walked through the hallways making his way towards the exit. Right when he was going to pass through the door to leave the building, he saw Sayuri ahead of him.
"Hey, Kakashi!" Sayuri waved at him. The boy just ignored her and continued walking away.
'That's strange' she thought but didn't let it bother her. Sayuri made her way towards the Hokage's office. She gave a quick tap on the door and then proceeded to open the door and walk in without a response.
"You called?" Sayuri said closing the door behind her.
"Yes, I've talked to Kakashi already. Now, I need you to clear some things up for me." He told her everything Kakashi relayed to him.
"Okay well that clears some things for me," Sayuri told him.
"And what is that?"
"That confirms my suspicion of Kakashi killing Rin and I think I know exactly why she wanted to die. I just visited the morgue and the lady there told me to check her body for strange chakra and I found tail beast chakra. So I'm guessing Rin knew and wanted Kakashi to kill her because she didn't have control over it. Maybe it was planned for Rin to come back here and destroy the village," Sayuri said beginning to drift off somewhere else in her mind.
"Yes, that would make sense. He also mentioned the tree roots that were there at the scene. I need you to go back there and take a sample of the wood to check if the First Hokage's wood style. It would be dangerous if someone else has gotten their hands on it and that's something we need to know quickly." The Hokage noticed that she was completely lost in thought while biting her lip and crossing her arms. He knew whenever she would do that she's hiding, worried, or thinking about something. Her body language reminds him of her parents. Her father would cross his arms in thought or anger, and her mother would bite her lower lip in worry. "Sayuri?"
"What? Oh yeah, I'll get ready."
"What do you want to tell me, Sayuri?" he told her right when she was going to open the door.
Rin's death brought back great memories of having a friend and she wants to have that again without having the restrictions she once had with Rin. She's been feeling really lonely lately in the Hokage's mansion. Almost like she's imprisoned here.
"I feel like a prisoner," Sayuri with slight frustration in her voice.
"What do you mean?"
"Ever since I was a kid, I was never allowed to do what I wanted. I was never allowed to have friends except for Rin because you and my mother always kept me away from everyone. That just makes me feel trapped in this house. Why did you and my mother keep me away from everyone? Is there something you're hiding about me? Does it have to do with mother's old clan? Does it have to do with the father I've never met?!" Sayuri said, continually rising her enraged voice.
"Sayuri, calm down! It was your mother's choice to keep you away from society. Don't bring your father into this, he died before you were born."
"Who is my father?" Sayuri said with a slight crack in her voice, beginning to feel tears in her eyes. She has asked this question multiple times in the past and always got the same response.
"I can't tell you that. Your mother forbade me from telling you until you're mature enough." The Hokage gave his usual response. This only got her more frustrated.
"Fine, don't tell me! I'll be back soon," Sayuri made her way out the door, mumbling the last part.
The Hokage thought about how much she looks like her father when she's mad. It made him feel nostalgic about the great man.
Sayuri angrily walked down the hallway to her room. When she opened her door fiercely, scaring all her ninneko.
"Oi, what's gotten into you?" Said Naomi, her main ninneko.
"Nothing," Sayuri told her ninneko.
"Obviously, it's not nothing"
"Do you know who's my father?"
"First of all, that's a weird question to ask a cat. Secondly, no I don't."
"Sorry, I was hoping you knew." She was resupplying her pouches, while her ninneko were settling back down. She was thinking about how stupid the question was and began to calm herself down.
"Don't tell me you're going on another mission," said Toshiko, her other ninneko.
"Yeah, I am."
"Didn't you just come back from a mission?" said her largest ninneko, Dai.
"Yes and now I'm going on a quick one, if you guys want to come so you don't have to be stuck here."
"Sure, we'll come along," responded Naomi.
"Ugh, do we have to" Suzume hissed at Naomi, not wanting to go. She's always been a grumpy one but has amazing skills.
"Yes, we've been inactive lately, so we are all going," Naomi told the rest of the seven ninneko and Suzume just sighed and started to get ready.
After getting ready, Sayuri and her eight ninneko left the village and made their way to the spot that Rin died. She explained the mission to her ninneko along the way.
Her ninneko made a ring around Sayuri on their way there. Naomi, a white cat with tan spots and a striped tail, was in the lead. She is a cat with strong leadership skills and the seven others almost always obey her and Sayuri. A large long-haired grey cat named Dai was on the front left. He's the toughest of the group. On the front right, there's a male tuxedo cat named Itsuki, who is brave and fearless. A calico cat named Makoto was on the middle left. He loves working with this group and usually stops arguments. Kazumi, a luxurious female ragdoll cat, who tends to be self-centered, is on the middle right. A male hyper orange tabby cat, named Haruki, is on the back left. The smartest one from the group, Toshiko, was a female siamese cat that was on the back right. The grumpiest of them all, Suzume, is a solid black cat and she was the tail end of the group. Despite their differences, they work well together and their differences are what make them such a great group.
They made it there in about half a day. It was nighttime, but it shouldn't affect anything. There was a problem when they got there, all the blood, bodies, and wood that was there was gone. The blood seemed to be washed away from rain and the bodies could've been taken away, but she couldn't explain the wood being gone.
"Hm, that's strange the wood is gone," Sayuri told her ninneko.
"Welp, let's go back," said Suzume.
"No, all of you spread out around this area and see if you can find strange wood or chakra." With that being said, they all went in different directions. She stayed behind analyzing her surroundings. The damage done on the stone walkway was still there but when she inspected it there was no splinter left behind. She also couldn't feel any strange chakra there.
At that moment she realized the moon turned a bloody red color and all the blood, bodies, and wood returned suddenly right in front of her. She tried to act calm but was internally panicking. She suddenly felt a presence behind her and the blood began to run up her legs and she couldn't move. The presence was so strong that it was overwhelming.
"Who are you?" Sayuri asked the presence.
"Your forefather" Sayuri was surprised and wished to see the man's face, but still couldn't move. She felt a dry hand on her neck then it slightly ran through her hair. "It's a shame you have your father's eyes." That terrified her.
Suddenly she felt the hands on her eyes and her eyes began to burn. Marks began to appear around her eyes, but she couldn't see them she only felt the stinging pain. She started to cry out from the intensity. She began seeing old painful memories of witnessing her mother's death and various other unpleasant memories from her past. But she also saw people that she did not recognize. The one that stood out the most was a silver-colored hair girl crying into her hands, calling out for her father. The more she concentrated on the images being shown to her, the blurrier it would get. An immense sadness swept over her and she felt numb. She couldn't feel the hands anymore and she seemed to be falling into this void.
After a while, she heard her name being called but she couldn't make out whose voice it was. Slowly, her consciousness returned to her. She could now realize that Minato was calling her and was confused as to why he was nowhere near where she was. Her throat hurt, her vision was blurred, and her head had a throbbing pain. Blood began to run down her face from her eyes and nose.
"You're finally awake," Minato told her relieved.
"What are you talking about?"
"Sayuri, you were unconscious for an hour. Some of your ninneko went back to the village and told the Hokage something happened to you and he sent an urgent message to come get you." Minato told her.
"Yeah, you were screaming in pain while holding your eyes and you were telling someone to go away. You seemed to be in a genjutsu, but we couldn't release you from it," Naomi said worriedly.
"I don't remember what happened," Sayuri said holding her head in pain. She tried to stand up, but couldn't keep herself up, and Minato caught her.
"It's okay, let's just go back to the village." Minato saw that Sayuri was losing her consciousness again from the pain. After she was limp in his arms, he teleported them both to the Hokages building. Once there, he walked to the Hokage's office. The Hokage asked what happened and Minato told him everything he knew.
"Take her to the hospital so they can do a check-up on her. After that, return to your mission." Minato gave a nod and left for the hospital. The Hokage was worried that someone targeted her because of who she is, and was now thinking back about the warnings her mother gave him. After a while of thinking, he stood up and began his walk to the hospital.

on the yuki tribe’s familiars ( water country branch ) and ryogi’s familiar.
Tumblr media
background .
following a tribal schism, a branch of the yuki tribe emigrated from snow country and eventually settled in water country prior to kirigakure’s foundation. the greatly weakened and considerably smaller branch settled onto three small satellite isles populating the southern edge of the island. there, isolated from their ex-matriarchs, homeland, and culture, the young branch formed new traditions, signalling their complete break from the main tribe.
one such tradition was the selection of tribe familiars. the main branch’s familiars were white dire wolves, spiritual creatures capable of speech that were much larger than the average dire wolf. however, the new branch elected to select three new familiars native to their new homeland, one for each island.
and thus we come to one such familiar: the Sarurun Kamuy.
overview .
similar to the uchiha’s bond with the ninneko, some members of the new yuki branch bonded to the Sarurun Kamuy ( “god of the marshes” ), otherwise known as the red-crowned crane, in return for food, shelter, and protection.
the heads or “sages” of the sarurun ( a mated couple that has passed sarurun rituals and proved themselves both wise, practical, and powerful independently and as a unit ) would serve as advisors to the tribe elders, while lesser Sarurun acted as emissaries, messengers, helpers, and security. security Sarurun surveilled the isles’ borders, marshes, wetlands, and winding pathways leading to the main living grounds.
before they were forcibly subjugated by the third mizukage, forcibly enlisted in the civil wars, and unceremoniously labeled as scapegoats and slaughtered, at least one of the new yuki isles was intensely solitary.  to maintain their distance and discourage attacks from mainlanders, sarurun security cranes were tasked with casting continuous genjutsu over the mists surrounding the small isles to deter any who would seek them out.  after the yuki are wiped out and survivors flee into hiding, the sarurun overrun the isle and guard it in respect and mourning, hoping for their return.
physicality .
CHAKRA NATURE: wind, yin, yang, yin-yang. HEIGHT: 150 to 158 cm (4 ft 11 in to 5 ft 2 in) tall. can expand size via transformation technique. LENGTH: 101.2–150 cm (3 ft 4 in–4 ft 11 in) in length (from bill to tail tip) WEIGHT: 4.8 to 10.5 kg (11 to 23 lb), with males being slightly larger and heavier than females and weight ranging higher just prior to migration. they are the heaviest species of crane.   TOTAL WINGSPAN: 220–250 cm (7 ft 3 in–8 ft 2 in).  ADDITIONAL MEASUREMENTS: wing chord 50.2–74 cm, exposed culmen 13.5–17.7 cm (5.3–7.0 in), tail length 21.5–30 cm (8.5–11.8 in), tarsus 23.7–31.9 cm 9.3–12.6 in. EYE COLOR: gold or dull blue-gray. DIET: omnivorous, feeding on rice, parsley, reed buds, buckwheat and a variety of water plants as well as fish, amphibians, small reptiles and crustaceans, insects, and other small birds. LIFESPAN: thirty to forty years. they are exceedingly long-lived but are highly prone to disease and salt-fungus and molded lung, two water country diseases. MATING PATTERN: monogamous and highly committed both to their mates and their human companions. most sarurun hatchlings are sought after by yuki children and teens as part of an end-of-childhood ceremony. sarurun are opinionated and wary by nature, but once they are won over they develop strong lifelong bonds. if a sarurun outlives its companion it will not take another, and their eye color will fade from gold to pearl or dull blue to pupiless white. sarurun do not breed until they are three to four years of age. SOCIALITY: sarurun prefer traveling and residing as couples once hatchlings are old enough to fend for themselves. they are highly protective, territorial, and jealous creatures, and will not hesitate to violently attack perceived intruders, threats, or competitors.   CULTURE: sarurun value family, security, and protection above all else, and favor highly the concept of sacrificing oneself/one’s material goods for the health and benefit of the whole. sarurun will grant favors in return for acts of sacrifice, which are referred to as tsuru no ongaeshi – “crane’s return of a favor.” this particular species is rarely seen off the isle, so seeing one on the mainland these days is considered a sign of luck or an omen of oncoming prosperity and fidelity depending on one’s superstitions. in the past, however, they were seen as highly unlucky due to their connection to the “cursed” yuki tribe.
abilities .
SPEECH: speech-capable like ninneko. GENJUTSU: sarurun use nature chakra to cast genjutsu, thus producing illusions more difficult to dispel than ordinary illusions as there is no man-made chakra signature. all genjutsu can be neutralized with a strong kai. they have several types of genjutsu: ———— Paralysis: in battle a sarurun will pluck feathers from its breast and drop them over the enemy, causing lethargy, paralysis, and sleep. ———— Curse Dance: confuses the viewer and temporarily interferes with the primary motor cortex, “crossing the wires” of their electrical impulses to momentarily render the target immobile or incapable of normal movement. basically they scramble your chakra neural network. remember that kabuto fight with tsunade and naruto? that. TRANSFORMATION: mature saruru can augment their size to that of a small horse, but outside of battle usually only sarurun sages utilize this form, and only sparingly, as it requires concentration and chakra. SENSING: sarurun can sense chakra signatures and chakra sources. unlike humans, they can see the “chakra connections” linking all living things ( for example, the line between a tree root drawing energy from the soil to its terminus, aka the fruit dangling from the tree’s uppermost bough ) as well as chakra residue from recently cast jutsu. a skilled sarurun’s chakra residue analysis can determine how recently a jutsu was discharged, the intent with which it was discharged, and the chakra nature of the dispeller. WIND MANIPULATION: can augment wind into a weapon by buffeting it with their wings or summoning it with their shrill shriek.
ryogi’s familiar.
ryogi eventually becomes bonded with gohei ( “white wand” ) a young, uppity crane with a mile-long petty streak. gohei is vain and often speaks in grand declarations (”You ask me, GOHEI of THE SARURU, to remove my FEET from the COUCH as if my presence were not A BLESSING ? Silence your tongue!”). she hates being touched but loves eating berries, and will tolerate your presence if you hand-feed her. she is judgey, expensive, and here to cause problems.
current saruru sages .
the current ruling saruru sages are toya ( “pond shore” ) and anchikar ( “evening” ).  they remain in the marshes and must be sought out on foot.

Ninneko to genma: "Have you ever had a dream that, that, um, that you had, uh, that you had to, you could, you do, you wit, you wa, you could do so, you do you could, you want, you wanted him to do you so much you could do anything?"
he can only stare as she babbles on, expression turning more and more concerned with each word akina says. there’s a moment in the middle where he almost interrupts, hopeful that she’ll spit out whatever question she’s trying to ask, but he holds his tongue.
she quiets and he tilts his head, eyebrow raising, but he waits another moment just in case she has more to say. genma sighs, resting his head in his palm.
“ kid...what the fuck are you trying to say to me ? ”
@ninneko | unprompted ask
