Sonic has been called an "overprotective big brother" over the years many times. Not his fault that Tails is small, impressionable, and reckless. He's known the kid since he was a toddler, if anyone else had been around that long they would understand too.
Or at least he thought they would, but it seems he was wrong because his own two best friends–Amy and Knuckles–are the ones who call him overprotective the most. This is a huge betrayal on their part, especially when they bring up valid points like Tails' intelligence and skill, because how could he disagree. Sonic has the coolest, most awesome and amazing, little brother ever.
With that being said, Sonic is pretty sure he has the right to interrogate the little fox this time. He's like 90% sure his panic is warranted when he sees his little brother load and cock a very real and deadly gun. Because that kid is 9. He is 9, and he is putting on his watch and his plane gear to leave, and for some reason he needs a weapon wherever he's going. Sonic thinks he has a right to exercise at least a little big brother privilege here, honestly it would be negligent to not at least question him.
"Hey bud. Whatcha up to?"
Tails' ear flicks toward him as he packs a few things into the Tornado. "You remember that hard drive that GUN thought they stole from me, but I actually knew they wanted it so I lowered a few of my defense systems so that they could grab it and leave me alone?"
The answer is no, Sonic has no recollection of that happening at all. Though he supposes it's his own fault for only half listening when Tails was talking. He's really gotta break that habit.
"Sure do." Sonic lies.
"Well, I actually have a little bit of data on there that I forgot to back up to another hard drive since I didn't think I needed it, so I'm going to go get it."
"And you need a weapon for that? Why don't you just ask Shadow?"
Tails finally turns to face Sonic, floating down off the Tornado and in front of Sonic. He stands with his hands on his hips, leaning just a little into his personal space. He takes the chance to absentmindedly scratch behind his little brother's ears, making him push his head into his hand.
"I did, actually. He's the one who told me to bring some weapons, he said he wants to help me improve my stealth techniques."
"Huh, and he didn't even bother to text me about it." Sonic huffs. It comes out playfully, but he won't deny being a little peeved that Shadow didn't message him. Tails is a genius and can make his own decisions, sure, but he's also not even in double digits. Sonic is literally his guardian, he feels like he should've been consulted about this. "I find that quite rude."
Tails smacks Sonic with one of his tails. The fur gets trapped in the small quills on his face, which makes his brother giggle.
"Then how do you find that, hm?"
"I find that the person who did it has another thing coming."
Sonic is so gonna fill his pillows with quills and shaving cream again. The fox constantly complains about not being able to get his quills out of any furniture, but he also got his fur stuck on Sonic's face, he figures this is pretty good retribution.
"Sure I do."
This is what Sonic means. Where did his wholesome brother go? Ignoring the fact that he has been a little menace since they first met, this is obviously team Dark's fault. Their devious ways are corrupting his little brother, who has obviously only learned nice things from him, like dad jokes and spindashing.
Tails has been constantly hanging out with team Dark for a few months now. After spending time with Rouge on Amy's last birthday he seemed to acquire a sort of childish fascination with them. Honestly, Sonic didn't really see it as a bad thing at first. They got Tails to spend more time out of his lab, and they always seemed to take care of him so Sonic had no qualms as long as Tails was having fun.
Then the habits came. Habits that Sonic had managed to completely purge a couple years back. Sure, he's not building bombs willy nilly anymore (as far as he knows anyway), but a few weeks ago Tails showed him the Empire nuclear launch codes just because he could.
Just yesterday they were having a conversation about a grocery store in station square. Amy had apparently told him that the cashier was kind of rude, so he asked if she wanted him to "blow up the entire store". She laughed and said no thanks, but when Sonic just shook his head at him Tails had the audacity to say "he'll make sure there's no one in it", as if that was the problem with what he said.
Sonic will not claim to have clean hands. He will not say he's never killed anybody on purpose or on accident, but is it so much to want to spare his brother from the same fate? Sonic still has nightmares over things like that, and even if his little brother is joking, he just can't find it in himself to laugh.
It's obvious Sonic will have to talk to Shadow and Rouge soon, he would talk to Omega as well but the robot honestly just does whatever he wants. Sonic can respect it. He cannot, however, respect Shadow and Rouge teaching his kid brother bad stuff, like how to get away with murder and other things of the like.
"I'll be back before you know it, Sonic, I swear!"
It's obvious Sonic has just missed most of the one sided conversation Tails was just having with him, he zoned out again. Damn it.
"And I'll have my communicator on me so if anything goes wrong, you'll be the first to know! I'll stay safe, Shadow will be with me."
Tails says that as if it's any comfort to Sonic. He may trust Shadow with his life but he does not trust him with children. He's sure Tails will come out physically unscathed, but mentally? This is going to be a trainwreck.
Sonic sighs. He already knows he won't be able to convince him not to go, at least not in the small timeframe he has, so he just pulls the kid in for a hug instead. "Call me as soon as you're able, okay?"
"I will, promise!"
"And if you're not back and not answering in 24 hours, I'm coming to find you myself."
"Yes, Sonic." Tails says, pulling away.
"And I'll give Shadow a piece of my mind if I have to, you know I will."
"I'm leaving now."
"And so will Knuckles and Amy!"
"Goodbye!"
"Remember what I said about calling!"
"I can't hear you anymore!"
Sonic smiles as Tails starts his plane, the kid will be fine, he knows it. After all, he's sure Shadow and Rouge know the consequences if he's not.
woe, the brothers be upon ye I wrote this in like two sittings and its barely been edited, I'll probably put this on ao3 later after I've looked at it again lol. you're welcome to hit me up in my dms or askbox, but if it's a request I would prefer my ask box lol. Remember you have to be nice to me forever and ever and ever if you decide to talk to me btw

I know it’s wholesome Sonic and Tails Wednesday eve and I shouldn’t be posting anything angsty BUT
Now that we’re exploring the potential of Tails being directly linked to the Chaos Emeralds…
Team Sonic and the restoration are fighting Eggman’s forces, it’s rough, they’re outnumbered and are getting close to being out powered, Silver and Team Dark’s assistance be dammed, Eggman did plan how to keep them occupied.
A foreign place, no citizens around, no remaining functioning facilities nearby, not any city, town or population, nothing close to them, everything has been rather evacuated or demolished by Badniks.
They’re scattered around the battlefield, everyone way too far from one another, but they have to cover more terrain, and no one’s better than Sonic to do that.
He’s going from edge to edge, dodging, punching, wrecking, they’ve been at this for hours but he can keep on for days, no doubt.
There’s yelling and shouting until there isn’t, a harsh sudden silence taking its place, weird. Sonic turns to the vibration in his arm.
His communicator illuminates in bright angry red, an alarm. Tails vitals.
Tails flatlines.
Way to sudden, no rising on vitals, no yelling from his side of the battlefield, it had to be a mistake, he needed it to be a mistake.
But the screen shows Tails’ communicator’s still attached to his wrist, and there’s no longer any silence when the shouts and cries of the fox’s name fill the place, It wasn’t a mistake.
He nearly trips on his own feet at how quickly he moved, his legs suddenly so weak to support him, but he had no time to freeze, he had no time to doubt he had no time-
He gets beside him in less than a second.
He’s on the ground, no badniks near him, the ground around him almost steaming, surrounding him in infernal smoke, he can feel the ground trembling, trembling, almost like how his body felt when a much younger Tails was purring while hugging him. Hell, why does he look so small all of the sudden?
His baby brother’s bright pretty yellow fur tainted if not bathed in a sick red. His chest fluff has no white left to show, a deep wound right over his heart. No.
He craddles him close, he knows he shouldn’t move him but he shouldn’t be so still, he wasn’t supposed to be this still, no, he was supposed to at least be crying he was supposed to hug Sonic back he was supposed to open his eyes-
There are no functioning hospitals in miles. The medic team is not equipped for this after hours of treating the wounded and preventing casualties. There’s no longer any medic team around, just wrecked badniks and his friends approaching.
Tails isn’t breathing. He doesn’t react to the speedster’s hand on his cheek. He doesn’t purr when his brother’s fingers run through his bangs. He doesn’t wake up when Sonic shouts his name begging him to please open his eyes.
Tails flatlined, but Sonic could tell his own heart threatening to stop.
He can’t hear anything. He can’t think. He can’t see anything but how still his little brother’s chest is.
He doesn’t think. He just knows he will not lose his little brother. Not now. Not ever. Not like this.
His body moves on his own when he practically rips a chaos emerald from Shadow’s hand, returning to his brother’s side not a second after, he doesn’t think even once about what doing next.
Sonic puts the chaos emerald over his kid’s small chest, right over his heart. Most would call what he made an “overpowered defibrillator”, but he knows he was just reaching for a miracle.
The miracle mercilessly shocks his kid.
One time, it doesn’t work. Two times, he can feel how the kit’s body can barely handle that much energy. Three times, his own hands are trembling, why is Tails face wet? It’s not even raining. Four times, someone’s yelling at him to stop, he’s only hurting Tails even more, he’s only damaging his body, but he can’t hear anything, Five times, he uses even more power, all his rage, desperation and… fear? Into that last shock.
Tails wakes up with a gasp. It worked.
It worked, Tails opened his eyes and started coughing loudly. Rough and harsh, but it meant he was alive, no wound visible anymore over his chest.
It worked, and that’s all that matters now.
Not how the skin in his hands got burned even through his gloves, not how his little brother’s eyes are no longer baby blue but an emerald green so much like his, not how long it took for Tails to actually look at him and answer when he asked if he was okay, not how he seemed more scared than confused about the fact that he was alive, not how even while Tails was fully awake and conscious Knuckles couldn’t find a pulse.
Tails is alive, and that’s all that matters.

(Just a heads up, I don’t take requests through dms, or do requests that include movies. This is my one time exception. Ask box is closed for a reason, fellas!)
It started as Sonic’s idea, funnily enough.
Tom and Maddie aren’t home, and it’s dark and raining outside, which according to Sonic, is peak horror movie hours.
While scrolling through Netflix, Tails mentions that he heard IT was a good one. When asked who told him that, he said the big kids at his school were talking about it. He doesn’t like horror movies, but he likes fitting in and having something new to talk to people about, and making friends.
Knuckles is unsure. Not scared… just concerned about the content they’re about to consume.
Sonic heard “IT” and his heart sank to his toes. He knows that movie has a fucking clown in it, and he DOES NOT LIKE CLOWNS! He tries to get Tails and Knuckles to accept another option, but no. This is his fate now.
Knuckles isn’t frightened. He’s confused. Why is this clown hunting down the kids? Why is this one kids mom giving her kid “gazebos”? What is this “DiRtY lItTlE sEcReT”?? He enjoys the wholesome moments between the kids, and while he finds the gore unrealistic, he understands that it’s only a movie, and it won’t be realistic because like.. look at it. Overall, he enjoyed it!
Tails was a little spooked, but that’s because he doesn’t like body horror type things. The bullying scene hit a little close to home and made him sad (he was never attacked with a blade, thankfully) but seeing the boy make new friends made him happy again! He found the placebos thing interesting. Some things had him a little more shaken, and he won’t be going near any gutters anytime soon, but he thought this was a solid horror movie…. It’s the only horror movie he’s seen, actually.
Sonic had a terrible time. Every second Pennywise is on screen is a second he’d rather not be here for. He left many times to “get snacks” or “get water” but his bros knew something about this film set him off. While he’s actually sitting in front of the screen, he’s got his little brother curled against him to “protect him” but honestly, he was only comforting himself with a fluffy and adorable distraction. He’s sweating. He didn’t jump, he swears on his racecar bed. How dare you say he did? He didn’t pay attention well enough to enjoy anything. He zoned out to escape the discomfort.
Enjoyable movie. A good one. We don’t talk about the book.
Thank you @typicalrevolution for the prompt!

For wholesome Wednesday this week I decided to point out Tails' expression most times Sonic's relationship with Amy comes up. 😏😂 As a passionate Sonamy shipper (not one of the weird ones I promise 😂) this both excites me and cracks me up.
IT'S JUST SUCH A CLASSIC SIBLING MOVE TO TEASE YOUR BROTHER ABOUT A GIRL. 🤣🤣
Tumblr media
(Screenshoted this and now can't be bothered to edit the text from the bottom) 😂
The teasing little smirk?? 🤣
And then of course, Sonic Boom :))
Tumblr media
Miton, second ago, talking about Amy: "Who's that? Is she your... girlfriend or something?"
Sonic: "Wh-What, no!!"
AND TAILS JUST SMILING KNOWINGLY AT HIM FROM THE SIDE, NOT SAYING ANYTHING BUT HIS EXPRESSION SAYS IT ALL 😂😂
Seconds later, after Amy was right in the middle of telling Sonic, "Don't forget, we have that--" only for Sonic to panic and quickly hang up before whatever she was saying was heard by everyone-- right after having denied that he and Amy were a thing. 🤣
After hanging up, Sonic just stands there like this with this pose and expression, and AGAIN Tails' face beside him:
Tumblr media
I think it's pretty clear they've talked about her at some point and um I'D LIKE TO SEE THAT CONVERSATION?? 🤣 Ha, maybe I'll write it myself. That can be a post for another Wednesday. :3
Then the Twitter Takeovers; obviously can't post a pic, but Tails' tone always gets so teasing when it comes to Sonic and Amy-- and that goes for them both. When Amy listed all the things she liked about Sonic when prompted, she ended with a huffy "Who couldn't love a hedgehog like that?" and Tails chuckles and repeats VERY teasingly, "LoVe??"
Cue Amy getting all flustered and insisting that she just said "like."
In one of the TailsTube videos, the Sonic Scoop, Tails read a question from someone asking Sonic if Amy was his sister, or his girlfriend. And the tone with which he said "girlfriend" was both hilarious and again, SUCH a teasing little brother vibe. Sonic clarified that Amy definitely wasn't his sister, and said that she was a very good friend. Tails again teased him, with something along the lines of a sarcastic "Oh, sure." 😏
Long story short I love it. 🤣🤣
So I went ahead and threw together my own (traditional) art, featuring Tails being said teasing little brother, Amy being adorable, and Sonic having no idea how to respond to physical affection. (I do have stuff to say about that but I'll save it for another post)
Tumblr media
And that's it for today's post! Thanks for listening to my rambles :3

Been thinking a lot about this and wanted your thoughts. Isn't it strange the only character shown to not be openly afraid or judgemental of Shadow is Amy? I think the only one that comes close to that is Rouge but even then
A lot of characters are easily intimidated, scared of, not trustful or even judgey of Shadow a lot of the time. Which given some past actions and his general vibe is understandable but it never seems to apply to Amy
Even when she mistook him for Sonic she wasn't immediately scared afterwards just confused and later encourages him to save the world because she believes that he is a good person deep down. It's especially prominent in the Sonic takeover video, like when it's revealed that both Shadow and Amy enjoy Taylor Swift?
Sonic is surprised that Shadow the Edgy boy likes a pop artist and treats is a semi big deal. Amy meanwhile is just happy they have something in common, not even a 'oh that's surprising coming from you', just general happy they share similar music tastes
I might be thinking too deeply into it but it occurred to me that Amy never treats Shadow as someone to be scared of and treats him as no different from anyone else right from the start.
Tbh, I don’t think it’s strange at all. It’s standard Amy behavior. Metal Sonic is a scary robot who kidnapped her as a kid, but she still helped him without hesitation in that Sonic Mania short, even after he startled her. Gamma was an armed robot who was keeping her in a cell, but she didn’t show any fear toward him; she stood up to him to protect a Flicky, then befriended him immediately. She saw Silver nearly murder Sonic with incredible powers she’d never encountered before, and she still jumped in front of him to protect Sonic anyway. The werehog was big and scary, but not only did she accept Sonic in that form, she hugged the werehog the first time she saw him and showed no discomfort about it, merely expressing confusion at having hugged the wrong person even though she actually got it right that time.
She just doesn’t see anyone as a monster. And while that’s wonderful and wholesome, it’s a little worrisome, too. Rouge likes and trusts Shadow, but I don’t think she’s unaware of the extensive damage he could do. Omega probably feels the same way. That’s the wise way of looking at it.
But Amy? It’s not just her faith in the goodness of others, it’s straight-up naiveté. Her upbringing was rife with violence, kidnapping, danger, and death, and now she doesn’t know what’s normal. This is the same girl who somehow waltzed onto Prison Island with the intention of casually rescuing Sonic from a high-security prison by herself. If Tails hadn’t shown up, she easily could’ve died! She’s honestly lucky she’s gotten this far without being seriously injured or worse.
I’m sure Shadow loves that she doesn’t fear him and truly values her for that, even if he doesn’t say so, but he’d worry about her, too. I can picture him thinking, “She clearly has no sense of self-preservation. I’ll have to look after her to make sure nothing happens.” Maybe he already does. It could figure into their interactions at Cryptic Castle in ShTH. This sweet girl takes one look at him, of all people, as terrifying as he knows he is--on the darkest story routes you can take, no less--and she says, “Friend? :D” before running off alone into a dangerous, haunted castle to save a child and a Chao. So he follows her. Because she clearly doesn’t know how to stay safe. And she’d be safer by his side than pretty much anyone else’s not only because he’s as strong as you can get in this universe, but because he’ll go farther than anyone else to protect the ones he loves. He knows how it feels to lose someone important, and he won’t let it happen again. It’s time someone put Amy first!
Still can’t figure out how Sega made these two characters so perfect for each other *by accident.* Most movies I’ve seen can’t craft things so well even on purpose.

The Pickle Jar Conundrum
Is 'Wholesome Sonic and Tails Wednesday' still a thing? I've seen posts around on Tumblr and wanted to give it a shot! So take my goofy oneshot that showcases their sibling bond - hope you enjoy! :)
------
Sonic's ears perked up as he walked past the kitchen - hearing the small grunts of effort coming from the room. He stepped back and peered his head around the entrance curiously, and saw Tails standing in front of the counter. He was trying his absolute best to twist off the lid of a pickle jar, but to no avail. He'd evidently been at it for a while if his red cheeks were any indication.
"Hey there, bud!" Sonic waved cheerily as he decided to enter the kitchen. "You need any help with that?" He asked, pointing to the jar.
Tails didn't respond right away, taking one last attempt at pulling the lid off. When that failed, he sighed and nodded. "Hey, Sonic... yeah, I could do with some help-" he admitted, setting the jar down on the counter and then rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"No problemo!" Sonic smirked, reaching out and grabbing the pickle jar. "Always a pleasure." That was indeed true, as Sonic secretly relished in the opportunies he had to help out the young fox. Often, Tails was often the one carrying the team with his clever schemes and vast knowledge of tech, so it was nice when Sonic had the opportunity to help him for once - to actually be the big brother that Tails referred to him as.
It was supposed to have been simple - just a measly jar of pickles. Sonic twisted his hand to pop off the lid, but it didn't move an inch.
"Uh, gimme a sec here-" Sonic quickly excused himself, setting the jar on the counter top to steady his grip on the jar. After another session of pulling and twisting - still nothing moved. All he got after his hard work was throbbing hand muscles.
"Huh." Sonic said, taking a moment to stop and stare at the jar. "Why do they make them so tight? Don't they want us to actually eat the pickles?"
Tails had been watching on, blinking in bewilderment as even his friend was having difficulties. "If your hand is aching, use a cloth to help you get a better grip on it." Tails suggested.
"Good thinking." Sonic nodded, reaching out for the dish cloth that hung over the oven door handle. He placed the cloth over the jar of pickles, making the lid much softer and easier to grab a hold of. Certain that there was no way this could fail, Sonic made one last heave.
It did not budge.
"Ugh! Come on, seriously?!" Sonic exclaimed in frustration, letting go of the glass jar and pouting at it. He then shifted his gaze to Tails. "Do you need these right now?" He asked him to make certain.
Tails averted his gaze, but slowly nodded - tapping the ends of his index fingers together. "I wanted a pickle sandwich..."
Sonic narrowed his eyes. "A pickle sandwich...? So like - only pickles?"
Tails nodded.
"Weirdo."
The fox huffed indignanltly. "You can't judge me! You eat chili dogs for breakfast!"
"So what if I do?" Sonic asked, getting defensive. "It has a bun, doesn't it? That's bread - so it's basically toast! That's a breakfast food!"
Tails facepalmed, groaning into his hand. "You did not just compare chili dogs to toast..." Once he got over Sonic's baffling statement, he saw Sonic was pulling so hard on the lid to the point his arms were trembling, and the hedgehog was gritting his teeth.
"It's alright, Sonic." Tails said. "I'll just have something else, we have plenty of other stuff in the fridge-"
"Nope." Sonic shook his head. "If my little bro wants pickles, he's getting pickles." He spoke with a firm conviction. "I'll just use a knife to break the seal-" Sonic said, reaching into one of the drawers and taking out a sharp cutting knife.
Tails' eyes widened in alarm. "Woah, woah!" He waved his hands. "You'll cut yourself with that! Use a butter knife instead." The fox told him, grabbing the butter knife for him and placing it in front of the hedgehog.
"Alright, alright." Sonic placed the cutting knife down, grabbing the blunter knife that Tails wished for him to use. "If it makes ya feel better..."
"It's basic knife safety..."
"Boriiiing." Sonic remarked, causing Tails to fold his arms - giving a disappointed but amused look towards the hedgehog. Sonic tried placing the blade of the knife between the lid and the jar, twisting it around and trying to at last wedge the lid out of place.
His efforts were frutiless.
"Man! This has to be a prank..." Sonic frowned, contemplating what they could try next.
"Hello!"
Both of their heads turned to see Amy standing at the entrance, smiling, a bag hanging over her shoulder. "Sorry for interrupting! Just wanted to let you know I'm off to drop off some cakes for Vanilla... - Oh! Are you guys having trouble with that?" Amy asked, tilting her head towards the jar. "Let me try!"
Sonic shrugged, picking it up and handing it over. "It's being a real pain in the neck, don't be too bothered if you can't-"
Pop.
With one effortless twist, Amy had made the lid come clean off.
"There you go." She beamed, placing the open jar in Sonic's hand.
He stared at it blankly.
"Oh, wow- uh, thanks, Amy." Tails smiled gratefully, although still in a bit of disbelief.
"Don't mention it!" She giggled. "See you guys later, okay? I won't be gone long." She told them, swiftly making her exit from the kitchen as she hummed to herself merrily.
Sonic and Tails exchanged a stunned glance.
Tails broke first, letting out a giggle - and Sonic was quick to follow with his own snickers.
If there was one thing they had learnt today - it was that they should ask Amy for help opening tightly sealed jars in the future...

Just watched the sonic prime season 3 trailer and I am so angry at this show.
They had the FIRST GOOD SONIC CHARACTER IN FOREVER in the form of Nine and they’ve WASTED HIM!
I’ve got a lot to get out about this.
So Nine is a character I absolutely adore. I think he’s one of the rare few examples of an edgelord character done right. He also acts as a nice counterpart to Sonic. His character is perfectly set up for some engaging conflict with the situation at hand with some nice character development with some wholesome moments sprinkled in there.
SO WHY ON EARTH DID THE WRITERS CHOOSE TO TURN HIM INTO YOUR GENERIC CARTOON BUTTHOLE?!?
I honestly actually really liked the conflict that was set up at the end of season 2 but was also nervous for the shows plans for nine in season 3. And of course, based on the trailer, it seems nine has been turned into a generic “I wanna rule the world” villain with no chance at redemption given that the show is pulling together all the characters, including the past antagonists, to face off against him.
Just… why???
Sure I get it, people love twist villains. I love twist villains. It’s great when you can make us attached to a character and then have them stab us in the back.
But the thing is that Nine had so much more potential as an ally than a villain!
What makes Nine so compelling is that he’s the angst we always wanted to see in Tails but never got. I was hoping this would be expanded upon, with the writers finally giving Nine something good in his miserable life through Sonic, but it NEVER happened. All we got were pathetic moments of Sonic showing him basic human decency.
The missed opportunity that bothers me the most is the conflict that we saw come to a head in the finale of season 2. This will take me a minute to explain my interpretation of what’s going on between them.
From Nines point of view, Sonic, the only person he thought ever cared about him, is more than willing to throw him away for a better, less broken version of himself. For the duration of the show, Sonic has been treating Nine as a stand in for Tails and not his own person. He isn’t bothered in the least about the fact that reviving Green Hill would erase Nine. Now that’s not to say I think this is intentional on Sonics end. He’s just a complete moron in this show and more than likely the thoughts just never occurred to him. I think it’s pretty likely that Nine realizes this too, but that doesn’t make it any better for him. It probably hurts him even more to know that Sonic’s actions would have led to his death had he not intervened, and Sonic never even realized what could’ve happened. This here is a good example of how Sonic doesn’t see Nine as his own person, by the way. Ie. “you expected me to just go along whatever you said, didn’t you?” I love this quote in particular because of the implications behind it. This is, in fact, exactly what Tails does, so Sonic expects Nine to be the same way.
Imagine a clone of you suddenly showed up one day, but it lacked the trauma or disabilities or whatever you have, and the person you love most instantly abandons you for this better version of yourself. Like you were just a broken toy that was being replaced. This is essentially what’s happening to Nine.
Nine isn’t entirely in the wrong with what he did in season 2. I also don’t actually blame Nine for not understanding Sonic’s point of view here, desperately missing Green Hill and his old friends. Because he HASN’T acted like he’s missed Green Hill. He’s acted like Nine was just another Tails. Had Sonic separated Tails from Nine in his mind, I doubt Nine would’ve turned on him like that. Because Nine does care about Sonic. It’s easy for people to think that Nines just a selfish brat, but he’s not. He’s risked his life several times for Sonic, someone he just met, because Sonic showed him just a tiny bit of kindness. Realizing just how little Sonic really values him hurts, and it’s easy not to see the other persons reasoning when you’ve been hurt the way Nine has.
And yes, Sonic values Nine very little. I 100% believe this. I don’t believe that this is intentional on Sonic’s part. However, as I’ve said, Nine isn’t his own person in Sonic’s mind. Nine is just an angrier Tails, and so Sonic sees the restoration of Green Hill as the restoration of Tails, and not what it really is; the death of Nine.
Had this ever been explained to Sonic at any point I’m sure this would change. But thanks to the writers apparently frying their braincells and serving them up for dinner, now this will never happen.
THIS is why I hate the choice to make Nine a villain so much. Had Nine stayed a protag, we could’ve instead had an interesting and heartwarming conflict that would’ve resulted in great character development on both ends. The writers could’ve had Sonic realize just how much he’s hurt Nine, and as a side note acknowledge how much suffering Nine went through. This is a small nitpick but I wish Sonic would’ve had a convo telling Nine that what he went through wasn’t fair and comforting him. It would’ve been really heartwarming. But anyways, after he understands how he’s been treating Nine he apologizes and Nine finally gets to feel as though he’s truly valued for who he is. And as a result of this, Nine could’ve had character development where he realizes just how much Sonic’s friends in Green Hill really meant to him, and that he couldn’t simply give up and start over with Nine in The Grim. And because he cares about Sonic more than anything, he willingly gives himself up to bring back Green Hill.
Can you see why I’m so angry about having this taken from the fandom? Instead now Nine is just like any other cartoon supervillain wanting to take over the world. And sure his motivations of wanting to create a perfect world because of all the suffering he himself went through is still interesting, but it doesn’t compare to what we could’ve had. Plus, I’m certain this motivation and Nine as a character are going to be completely butchered, because according to the trailer Nine has somehow gone from just wanting to be left the frick alone to work on the The Grim to somehow destroying the entire freaking Shatterverse. 0-100 real fast and it makes absolutely zero sense.

Happy Wholesome Sonic and Tails Wednesday!
I wanted to share a cute little oneshot I wrote about Sonic and Tails not long after they first started wandering around together. This story is based on/inspired by @skimmingmilk's wonderful origin story "Chart a Course to Second Chances" from their Sometimes the Picket Fence Isn't Perfect series. I loved the portrayal of Classic Sonic's mutism and Tails's backstory and trauma. This oneshot is mostly just fluff, though. Enjoy!
A Little Fox with Messy Fur
(Sonic is 11 and Tails is around 3 or 4)
It had been a busy day. Sonic and Tails had destroyed a whole batch of Eggman robots and chased him out of a nearby town. Now they were making their way back to their latest campsite in the woods.
Tails gestured to a small creek they were walking past and made splashy motions and sounds. He liked to swim around to relax sometimes. Sonic's chest tightened slightly at the thought of water, but he nodded and they walked over. Anything for his buddy. It wasn't deeper than wading height, even for little Tails, but Sonic still opted to stay on the bank while he jumped in and splashed around.
Sonic kept a sharp eye on him to make sure he didn't end up in any trouble. Honestly, Tails was probably a better swimmer than him. Mostly since he couldn't swim at all. But something could still happen.
Tails soon grew tired of splashing and finished by rubbing out his fur a bit in the water, something akin to a bath without soap. He crawled out of the creek and shook vigorously. Sonic jumped out of the splash zone, wrinkling his nose. Water. Bleah.
Tails wrung himself out. Once he was sure there was no more threat of getting wet, Sonic reached into his backpack and pulled out their shared towel. Tails was content to let Sonic rub him dry.
As he dried his little buddy, Sonic noticed how tangled up his fur was getting. A few tufts came off in the towel, which was... probably normal? It was shedding season. At least, he thought so. That really only applied to animals with fur, so he wasn't sure. He occasionally lost and grew back quills, but he didn't really shed.
Sonic frowned as he finished drying him. The "bath" really hadn't done much good. Tails's fur was too matted to really clean it well. Even when Sonic had first met the little guy, his fur had been dirty and matted.
How long had he been on his own before Sonic came along?
Sonic paused. He'd never thought about how hard fox fur must be to take care of. His own quills were quick to bounce back into place with a shake or two. Sometimes things got stuck in them, little twigs or leaves or debris, and then he'd have to sit and pick them out, but besides that his pelt was pretty low-maintenance.
Tails, on the other hand... he looked a little scruffy. Part of that was that his fur was now sticking out in all sorts of directions from Sonic's rubdown. But even in general, all the robot battling and sleeping in the woods was taking its toll.
Well, if his little friend needed more care, he'd just have to help him out. No one else was looking after him, so he'd made that his job until he could find someone else. Someone who'd be able to care for him right.
Truth be told, he didn't really want to think that far ahead. He would miss the little whir flying along behind him.
He shook his head. This wasn't the time to worry about that. Right now he needed to get this taken care of. He motioned Tails to follow him towards a village he'd spotted on his last scouting run. Surely they could buy a fur brush there.
Tails trotted happily along beside him, making little noises to himself. Some of them sounded almost like words. Sonic felt a small pang as he realized that surely the toddler should be talking by now. Maybe if he had a real family, someone who talked to him, he'd have picked it up already.
Sonic hadn't talked in a while. He didn't really feel like it, although he kept up such a loud monologue in his head it felt like spilling over a lot. But even when he tried, he found his voice just wouldn't come. Part of it was that people overwhelmed him a little. They asked too many questions and never seemed to like his answers for some reason. Part of it was everything he'd been through with Eggman. He hated to admit it, but yeah, having to deal with all the horrid stuff Eggman put him through was a lot for an eleven-year-old.
But Tails should have a chance to talk. Maybe Sonic'd try a little harder to get the words to come out. Sometimes he almost felt like he could speak around him. It was the first time he'd felt truly comfortable with someone.
They reached the village. As they got closer, Tails slowed and cowered behind him. Sonic understood. He wasn't super keen to be around a lot of people either. Plus, he knew Tails hadn't really had great experiences with others. When he'd met him, some older kids were bullying him, and he'd had to step in to stop it. Even after the kit started following him around, it took a while to get him to actually come close, or to let him touch him at all. Now Sonic could give him gentle shoulder pats or fur ruffles or even carry him sometimes, but they were still working on it.
Speaking of... Sonic paused to look at Tails, still hiding behind him. He wouldn't make him go into the village if he was scared, but he also knew he didn't like being out of his sight for long. Maybe... He held out his paw and grinned. Tails smiled a bit and put his own tiny paw in his, a little reassurance that Sonic'd be looking after him. They walked into the village together, making their way to the square.
Once they'd walked around a bit, Tails felt safe enough to let go of his hand and wander around a tiny bit. He got distracted by some sort of organizing machine nearby. Sonic chuckled internally. By the time he'd finished shopping, Tails would probably have the whole machine figured out and could build his own. He was such a smart little dude.
Sonic made sure to keep an eye on him as he wandered through the market stands. He still had to make sure no one would mess with his friend. If they did, well... there would be trouble.
He finally spotted a brush at one of the stands. He waved to get the attention of the person who ran it and motioned to the brush. He also decided to grab a comb, just in case. Maybe it'd help him with his quills too.
He gave the guy a handful of rings and glanced back at Tails, who was still watching the machine in awe. Sonic started to walk over to him, but paused. He still had some rings... and he'd walked by a stand selling candy a few minutes ago. He grinned. While Tails was still distracted, he bought a small bag of mints. They were the kit's favorite treat. He tucked them away before Tails could see. It'd make a nice surprise later.
He waved to Tails and motioned him to follow. They left the village. Tails bounced happily along, moving his fingers and drawing in the air to make what looked like could be math equations? He was probably still figuring out the machine and making plans to improve it.
Man, if only everyone knew how awesome he was, he'd have folks lining up to give him a home. It was so stupid how no one could see past his extra tail.
They got back out to their campsite. Tails sat down in an soft patch of grass. Sonic pulled out the fur brush and held it up. Tails' eyes flickered between him and the brush and he pulled back a bit, curling his knees to his chest. Had he ever seen one before? Maybe it looked threatening. Sonic smiled reassuringly and mimed brushing his own quills. See? It's okay.
Tails remained curled up, but he relaxed a little. Sonic knelt down beside him and reached out with the brush slowly. He intended to give it him and let him use it, but the kit simply stared, making no move to take it. Right. He was still a toddler. He probably didn't really know how to do it himself anyways.
Sonic softly touched the brush against his shoulder. Tails eyed it suspiciously and pulled away from the contact. Sonic pulled the brush back, and gave him another friendly grin and a thumbs-up. Tails relaxed and allowed him to reach the brush out again.
Sonic touched the brush against him again. Once Tails was okay with it, he moved the brush over his fur slightly. Tails stared curiously as he ran the brush down his arm a few times before moving to his back. Within moments, Tails was purring and leaning into the brush like a kitten getting petted. Sonic smiled.
It took a bit, but the tangles started coming out. Sonic had to slow down for the really knotty bits, switching to the comb for some parts. Tails was surprisingly patient with the process, especially when Sonic made little motions to let him know he was getting to a rough spot so the tug wouldn't surprise him.
As he reached Tail's tails, the little fox pulled away. He clutched them tightly against his chest, staring at Sonic with his forehead furrowed.
Oh yeah. He was very protective of his tails. Sonic'd seen the bullies yanking on them when he'd first rescued him. Even now people looked at them funny. To be fair, it was unique, but that was no excuse for anyone to be mean to him.
Sonic stepped back, nodding to show him he'd respect his boundaries. Tails glanced down, then stared up at Sonic with complete and utter trust in his eyes. He uncurled slowly and moved his tails where Sonic could reach them. Sonic smiled. He'd be extra careful.
He finished brushing him and stepped back to survey his work. Still not perfect, but definitely better. He didn't look like a stray anymore. He looked like someone was taking care of him.
Sonic grinned and gave Tails a thumbs up. Tails looked down at himself and ran his fingers through his fur. They didn't snag or anything.
Tails smiled at him. "T'anks!"
Sonic almost jumped at the first real word he'd heard him speak. He was picking things up. Good for him!
He wanted to reply, to say something, anything back. His lips formed the words "You're welcome," but no sound came out. He bit back a feeling of disappointment and tried again. This time, something did come out. It wasn't words, and it stung his throat a little, but it was a noise. A cheerful grunt. And it was more than he'd said in a long time.
Tails blinked his big eyes. A tiny purr rumbled in his chest. He'd seemed to understand that Sonic was pleased with his speaking. Sonic gave him an enthusiastic thumbs up and pulled out the bag of mints. Now was as good a time as any.
Tails squeaked and happily sat back to stuff the candy in his mouth. Sonic grinned. Man, he loved this little guy.
Wait, love?
Oh shoot.
He was attached now.

After rewatching sonic prime alot of times i can finally give my honest reveal:
Season 3 really dissapointing
S1 and S2 were really great tho!
S1: "2nd fav. season" (don't got much to say abt it 🙃)
- sonic his charactertisation felt kinda weird, he ignored his friends and is impulsive to the max
- sonic realising what he has done was kinda sad
- nine was AWESOME
S2: "fav. season"
- i liked the aspect of sonic going on a chase through the shatterverse to collect the shards
- the pirates were ASSHOLES!
- forest part never got me hooked so much
- good fights not too many and the pace went well (for me)
- CHAOS SONIC THE SILLY ❤️
- i wanted more chaos sonic he was a dark mirror of sonic himself and it was really intersting
- Once again nine was a fucking badass
- the betrayel was executed well ig
Sonic was really ignorant to nine but nine got his own faults too
But the line: "like the real tails would, I am REAL!" was so raw and the pain i can only imagine nine felt in that moment...
S3: "least fav. season ofcourse"
- i enjoyed evil tails very much
- episode 1 was fantastic but shadow being pulled out of the picture was bullshit
I also wanted a longer reaction to the betrayel of nine, i saw a comic dub of sonic having a panic attack. Now i know that is far too many of emotions for sonic to be allowed, but atleast they could've showed some tears and panic
- the fight episodes got bland real fast.
Just fighting the same ol' robots again, they get defeated, nine repairs them, the same again
- i did like episode 6 tbh...
The fight of the iconic duo and later the iconic trio was my favo fight in the season
Beautifully crafted
- episode 7..... where to begin?
To begin with: nine his redemption was forced and executed garBAGE
Sonic just went from, this motherfucker needs to PAY for his action to, aw im sorry i saw 1 palmtree and i understand why you wanted to murder me.
Aside from that i almost liked the rest of ep7
The race against time with sonic to save him from certain death was really wholesome
The Amy's were fucking cute and knux carried my sonknux heart ❤️
Shadow rescuing sonic was beautiful and i LOVED it very much
BUT! sonic should've had more emotion to seeing his friend again.
That cliffhanger was totally unnecessary and we know now that is just a symbol for sonic and his friends running into a brand new adventure
Couple other notes:
- voice acting was fucking awesome!
@mactheactor killed it (i want him to be the main sonic tbh
he is up there in my top 3 VA for sonic with @snapscube sonic aka penny parker and jason griffith (1st: penny sonic, 2nd: devon sonic, 3d: jason sonic)
he got the cockiness and the teenager vibe of sonic like jason and ryan have for example
he has all the talent and passion, emotion for the voice and it felt like i actually heared sonic himself)
- animation was really good!
i am not trying to bring the series down!!
i am just saying my thoughts but the series is amazing and should definitely deserve a watch if you like sonic things or if you just like action or multiverse thingies
That was my review of sonic prime i love to hear yur opinions on my review and what you agree and dont with ❤️

Knuckles (My Thoughts)
Tumblr media
So, I have watched Knuckles, the 2024 show that basically came out yesterday, and before watching it, I have heard a lot of mixed opinions, ranging from ''the show is great'' to ''the show is awful, I hate it''. I had figured I might as well add my thoughts to the fray.
There will be spoilers in this review, so if you haven't watched the show, you had your warning.
So, for starters... this show is absolutely bonkers, and I definitely enjoyed watching it! X3
Honestly, I feel like there was a pretty good mix of comedy and action, and while there is some over the top acting, it didn't really take away from my enjoyment. It was a pretty wild ride from start to finish, and I kinda want to know what the writers were smoking during some scenes, because there were moments where things just get a bit surreal.
The show is also peppered with a lot of emotional moments, but I'll get to that bit in a moment. So far, I think people were right when they called this Sonic the Hedgehog, but it's Knuckles and Wade instead of Sonic and Tom.
The main crux of the show is that Knuckles has a bit of a crisis. He has found the Master Emerald, he has found friends in Sonic and Tails... and the only reason he's on Earth is because of that promise to them, as he clearly doesn't feel like he is at home... yet. So, how does he deal with that struggle?
Tumblr media
Well, Pachacamac tells him what to do. Not gonna lie, even though I had expected him to appear, I was still baffled, because Pachacamac in this show is basically Oogway, Mufasa and Mr. Miyagi rolled into one. Clearly, Knuckles still holds great admiration for him, but let's remember that this was the guy who hunted down Sonic and Longclaw, leading to the mutual massacre. And now, he's a ghost that Knuckles can talk to, a lá Tikal. Kinda weird, but I think this is also the moment the show doesn't give a damn about being grounded.
Pachacamac suggests Knuckles that he should continue the legacy of the Echidnas, with Wade Whipple becoming his new protégé. Knuckles knows Wade is a loser, but he accepts, especially given Wade's determination to show everyone and their mother that he isn't some kind of loser and will become the bowling champion at the tournament in Reno, Nevada. So, he and Knuckles go on a road trip there while also being hunted down by two rogue G.U.N. agents, who want to deliver Knuckles to The Buyer, a guy who formerly worked for Robotnik and wants to use his quills to power his weapons.
Now, I will first start with the negative stuff that I noticed during the plot. Yes, people were correct, the second half of the show does focus a lot on Wade and his family rather than on Knuckles. Should it focus more on the titular character? Absolutely! Am I disappointed with what we got? Ehh... not really. Not gonna lie, I was actually quite invested in Wade's family drama.
Honestly, I can't really think of any complaint aside from the lack of Knuckles' screentime. Maybe it would've been better if the show focused on Knuckles bonding with Sonic and Tails, but it was always advertised as a Knuckles and Wade road trip, so I can't say I was lied to (not to mention, we had a whole movie of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles bonding). I suppose that another thing to add to it is the abrupt ending, although we do get a post-credits scene with Knuckles and Wade going to their next adventure, and the fact that they just don't address some plot points (like we don't know how the Wachowski family reacted to Knuckles' absence).
Well, that's my negative thoughts on the show, what's the positive stuff?
Tumblr media
First of all, Knuckles himself - he is absolutely awesome every moment he gets! His character is on point, and he gets a lot of goofy, but also very wholesome moments. He also works very well with Wade, their personalities bouncing off each other and their interactions can turn from hilarious to absolutely heartwarming, especially when bonding over their respective lives.
I think that's a really strong point of this show - Knuckles helping Wade, in his own way, to overcome his insecurities, while just being his Echidna Warrior self. At the same time, he also learns about simple things in life, like ''what his jam is'' (to no one's surprise, it's the show's theme song, The Warrior by Scandal) or about Wade's family's traditions, as well as finally accepting that Earth is his home.
Also, Knuckles and Wade's mother beating up the bounty hunters was one of the best scenes in the show, hands down.
As I said previously, I also got quite interested in Wade's family life. I really like his mother, but his sister is a bitch, even if she stands by Wade's side. His father, not gonna lie, Pistol Pete gets the same amount of hate from me as Locke... Huh, maybe they did base Wade's father on one of the most hated characters from the Sonic Archie comics? After all, both abandoned their sons for a ''greater purpose''. In any case, it was satisfying seeing Wade beating his father in the bowling tournament and use what he learned during his journey.
Furthermore, this show is peppered with many lore bits, but the most jaw-dropping is this one:
Tumblr media
So, if you guys don't know, this is Iblis, one of the Big Bosses of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), alongside Mephiles, and basically the main reason Silver the Hedgehog and Blaze the Cat went back to the past to save the future, with Silver fighting Sonic due to the belief that he was responsible for the apocalyptic wasteland that is Silver's future. Both Iblis and Mephiles are halves of the sun god Solaris, who was defeated by Super Sonic, Super Shadow and Super Silver.
So, in this show, in this story told to us via a rock opera arranged by Pachacamac and starring an... unconscious (dead?) Wade? *shrugs* So, yeah, in this story, apparently, Knuckles defeated Iblis with the Flames of Disaster, aka beating him up with flaming fists.
Not gonna lie, that's metal.
Also, another lore bit that is dropped is how a different alien visited Reno for a bowling tournament in 1974, which tells me either two things:
One possibility is that it was Shadow who appeared at the bowling tournament, which is but funny and pretty awesome, and now I have an image of Shadow, Maria and Gerald Robotnik wearing those bowling T-shirts.
The other possibility is that Black Doom dropped after making his deal with Gerald and decided to sign up the Black Arms for a tournament, which is just plain hilarious.
Tumblr media
So, yeah, overall, I liked the show. Is it the best? Not really, but it is something I'd rewatch if I want something fun and wholesome.

Back again (I have been very obsessed with a video game) But goodness pls give headcanons abt the cookie run polycule since I heard theres a new event from my friend!! (I want to play the game again but the fighting part really bores the experience for me but might redownload it if theres another sonic event) -🐇🎉anon
JESUS CHRIST I THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER ASK. YOU'VE UNLEASHED MY ADHD HORRORS I HOPE YOU'RE PROUD /j /lh /pos
Capsaicin Cookie • they/it privately, he/him publicly • polyamorous bisexual
At a young age, Capsaicin showed a lot of potential, he was taken by the school to train and is actually their youngest graduate.
Very emotionally sensitive and tends to take most things to heart. Even if they're jokes.
A People-Pleaser behind the scenes. His insecurities don't stay at just his powers. In fact, he has a fear of losing the people around him because he's not good enough.
On a more wholesome note, he tried really hard not to make it obvious he had feelings for Kouign-Amman Cookie and Prune Juice Cookie, but everyone in Scovillia had a suspicion, ironically enough.
The headmaster is his adoptive father. Capsaicin's parents went missing after he had his first anger outburst as a young child.
Has met Fire Spirit Cookie and considers him a friend :]
Fakes his voice a lot to give it a higher pitch, a result from the fact that he literally never sleeps like ever
Kouign-Amman Cookie • she/her • bisexual
Younger sister of Madeleine Cookie. Was constantly in his shadow.
Kouign's primary reason for becoming a Paladin knight was to prove to her brother that she had just as much worth as he did. She doesn't like admitting to this.
She was always picked on by Madeleine because she admired him. In fact, he'd weaponize this a lot.
Kouign first fell hard for Capsaicin Cookie merely for his overpowering and dominating appearance. As they progressed in the TCC however, she started learning more about his actual personality.
She admittedly only liked Prune Juice for his voice when she first met him, but overtime started developing a soft spot for his clumsiness and his strange humor.
She has dated before, and miraculously, it was Raspberry Cookie.
When her closest friends and family caught hold of her crush on Capsaicin and Prune Juice, they acted like they never knew. They're really bad at it. Especially Madeleine, who was busy trying to seem not-jealous.
Kouign really likes the name "Princess Peach" but she doesn't tell anyone that.
It took her several years to learn how to even hold that sword.
Actually very interested in politics. Like chronically.
Prune Juice Cookie • he/they • panromantic asexual
Has a knack for chewing things that aren't edible, like zippers, cloth or even glass
Child prodigy
Only eats things if they're bitter or sour.
Literally fell for Capsaicin Cookie the second he saw them and hid it under a facade of confusion and slight distaste.
Was a lot more vocal and gentle when it came to their feelings for Kouign-Amman.
Calls them their "cringefail husband" and "girlboss wife" like unironically
Second cousin of Vampire Cookie and Alchemist Cookie, half-brother of Licorice Cookie.
Extremely bad at demonstrating his emotions, currently getting help from Capsaicin
Actually has a severe stuttering issue
Night owl, never awake in the morning but was forced to fix that for the Triple Cone Cup.
Used to bully others but grew kinda tired of it after a few years
Professional con-man

Silver and Espio for the ask meme? :>
hehehe my favs hehee🤤🤤🤤
SILVER:
Tumblr media
I think most ppl don't know, but I used to really dislike Silver when I was first introduced to this character online. Not a game, no no, but YouTube AMV vids of this dude with cutesy shippy art of Silvaze. His portrayal was so degraded to me (I was 11 at that time?) that I believed he was a self-insert character for some popular artists to ship themselves with Blaze, in the girl-boss dynamic. Ofc, I looked for more info online and realised Silver was an actual character.
At that time I was playing Sonic Riders Zero Gravity and only unlocked Shadow/Rouge/Cream. After knowing what characters were avaliable, I tried my best to unlock the rest, including Silver. I also did not like his voice in English at that time, so much that I decided to switch the voice-overs to Japanese. And I also did not like it 😂 Not because it was grading! But more like, I was shocked by the drastic difference between the two. Kid me had to decide which portrayal I prefer more (ofc not aware of narrative difference of the scripts, I just chose based on my preference) and ended up with Japanese bc I vibe with the calm seriousness in the voice more. Eventually I did get used to both voices after more exposure of this character, watching playthrough videos online.
Talking about watching 06, I was not expecting him to be so different from my first impression of this "whiny/incapable/loser" kid. Silver actually was serious about fighting for his future, like a dedicated soldier. Blaze was *not* the girl-boss, she was on equal grounds with Silver. (Really... I was like 11/12, now that I think about it, how come ppl's comprehension skills so drastically apart that we can get totally different character interpretations?) I started to find charming traits on Silver, and that was when I started looking up for this character's info more & more.
And then I discovered the Rivals series. I watched the whole thing, 1&2, and this Espio character... Wait they're kinda nice tgt. (it was year 2012?? AAAAA I can't believe I'm still insane about Espilver/Silvespio, they're my sons now at this point 😭✨) I remember using Skype and talked about the ✨chemistry✨ between Silver & Espio, and my friend said I was tripping 😭
Anyway here's Espio:
Tumblr media
At that time I didn't have that much knowledge on Espio, I just thought their Eng voice in Heroes sounded like he's dying in a few years with how gruff & grandpa it sounded LOL. Mostly I only draw him with Silver bc I realised no one shipped these two back then. (there was ppl but there was no tags for them) So I felt like, no, impossible. I need to COOK for them! So I started shipping them like FedEx with my limited skills 🥴
My Espio appriciation was mainly started by shipping him with Silver. As I reflect on why I enjoy this ship so much, I dug up traits that I like about Espio. He was helpful, supportive, and overall has a rather peaceful way of communicating with others (aka SILVER hhh). Compared to other characters, especially in Rivals, he was really chill and kept his head clear, and unconditionally aided Silver simply bc he knew he was helping someone with a good cause. Such admirable traits that I'd say are pretty rare even irl.
Still, Espio did not have that much screen time. His portrayal in my mind I do admit was half canon, half fanon. Silly ninja with goofy teammates that values teamwork & is capable of aiding others, plus saint-like patience & wisdom. (Haha...really, a lot of his traits are get from Rivals 2, his ways of interacting with individuals was way more informative than games & anime shows combined 🤧)
But yeah, with time I like these 2 characters even more, started to make all kinds of headcanons that I won't be able to elaborate here. The texts are already getting too long here 😂 I've imagined them, either tgt or separately, in fluff/angst/spice/AU/wholesome/dead dove/anything really bc I just enjoy these two so much 💕
It's kinda selfish to say, but with how little Espilver there was during that time, it was almost like they got a clean slate & I was not swayed by any other ppl's interpretation of these two for a few years. And ofc by time these two surely became my favorite characters. LOL I realised in my busy years of not drawing often, Silver & Espio were the only characters I drew 😂
UGGGHHHAA I love these two sm 😭✨ thanks for asking hahah I wanna talk about them all day 🤧✨

Wow. That sure was... a Transformers movie.
The Positives:
The human characters were amazing. I love Noah's relationship with his little brother, the Sonic and Tails thing made me squee both because I'm a Sonic nerd and because it was just so darn cute! Anthony Ramos does a great job of protraying both the comedic and the more serious sides of the character. I hope he gets big after this, I'd love to see him in more. Same for Dominique Fishback, who also did amazing as Elena. Elena is a gem of a character, I loved her genuine passion for history and how openminded and willing to help she is. Her relationship with the Autobots and the Maximals is so genuinely respectful on both sides and the way the movie makes it clear that the gang probably wouldn't get far without her knowledge - I'm just really happy that the first POC human companions in a Transformers movie were handled this well.
Mirage and Noah's odd friendship is wholesome and funny and one of the highpoints of the movie. Mirage in general is a pretty well-written comedic relief. He's quirky and does his own thing, but never to the point that it gets grating. I think a big part of his likability comes from Pete Davidson's performance, he gives this character such an inherent charisma and joy for life you can't help but warm up to him eventually. I found it pretty interesting that Noah and Mirage seem to be a sort of mirror to Bumblebee and Charlie, heck, their last scene together is literally Noah repairing Mirage to bring him back from a coma. Human-Transformer friendships are pretty hit or miss in these movies, but these two absolutely hit. Btw, we're definitely in for tons of ship-art after Mirage's "You were inside me!" - line and I, for one, cannot wait. Hot take, Noah and Mirage should have kissed.
The Transformers designs were awesome (for the most part, but we'll get to that)! They're very different from the old Bayverse designs, but not in a bad way at all. I think they're a perfect mix of the old traditional G1 but wth enough elements from more modern depictions that they can be seen as their own thing. I'm especially a fan of Arcee's new look, the visor that becomes her windshield in motorcycle-form is aneat touch.
It was cool to see less known Transformers get to be part of the maincast. Mirage is the obvious one, but we've also got Stratosphere, whom I honestly didn't think they'd ever bring back, but it was a nice surprise. I think it's an interesting decision to not have Bumblebee the one who bonds with a human, since in every mainline movie so far he was basically the bridge between humans and Autobots, as the only one with a permanent human companion. They even reference it. But I can get behind it, Bumblebee's kind of become infamous for hogging the limelight. Giving another Autobot a human friend allows someone else to shine for once.
The underlying commentary on instituional racism in both Elena's and Noah's stories was *chef's kiss*. The way Noah struggled to get a job, despite having all the qualities, but being dismissed at the first excuse hi would-be boss gets? Elena being obviously more qualified to be a curator than her boss, but being stuck as an intern who does all the actual work while the white woman gets all the credit for it? Real. Frustrating, but real.
Optimus being portrayed as more jaded and bitter and needing to relearn the meaning of Til All Are One was an intriguing direction to take the characcter in, I enjoyed it for the most part. Also ngl, I got a bit teary-eyed when Optimus pleaded with Noah not to destroy the Transwarp Key and that they could save both of their worlds without one needing to suffer. The paralells between Optimus and Noah were also neat. They're both soldiers who adopted a "Whatever it takes" mindset after countless instances of life just absolutely dumping on them and need to re-learn that sometimes, it's not just about you and your loved ones. You can't just dismiss the fate of others because they're not in your general orbit and working together so no one will have to sacrifice or be sacrificed will always be better than bulldozing through with a "Fuck you, got mine" attitude.
The movie gives the middle finger to the Ancient Aliens trope so fucking hard. Yes, the Maximals were on Earth for a long time and had contact with humans, nope, they're not responsible for stuff like the Nazca Lines or the pyramids, those were all still the humans. The Maximals only contributed their own artifacts to hide the Transwarp Key and even those are clearly distinct from humanity's ancient artifacts, absolutely no overlap. If anything, it's heavily implied the Maximals were imitating humanity when creating their artifacts and I think that's great.
The Negatives:
The story isn't really the movie's strong point. It's a standard Macguffin-hunt, ending with a world-ending threat. If you've seen even one movie with those plot-points before, you've seen this one. There's very little there in terms of fresh new takes or originality. The pacing's too fast to give much attention to the characters, who should have been the main focus, and the climax is a drag that takes about half an hour too long, has about three separate Darkest Hour moments and severely undermines two major characters (more on that later).
The secondary conflict about Noah wanting to destroy the Transwarp Key to protect Earth from Unicron and going behind both the Autobots' and the Maximals' backs is resolved way too quickly. I get why it is, going more in-depth with it would have taken time that the movie simply didn't have to spare, but I feel like that was a potentially enaging discussion that we've missed out on. It's one of the very few examples where a story portrays a gray conflict in a competent manner: You can't really blame Noah for not wanting Earth to be torn apart between all those factions of giant robots, one of whom has shown nothing but disdain for humanity and seems to care only about his own people. On the other end, you can understand why Optimus is so desperate and hyperfocused on using the key to return to Cybertron: There's still a war going on there, dozens of his friends are in the line of fire and he's been forced to sit the conflict out on Earth twiddling his thumbs, with no way to contact the other Autobots. Optimus' speech to Noah during Airazor's attack was good, I won't deny that, but I wish we could've seen other characters react to what Noah almost did. Would they be accepting like Optimus? Or would they feel angry and betrayed, especially Mirage? Speaking of Mirage, how would the fact that Noah almost took away his one hope of going back home affect their relationship? How would Noah defend himself? Or would he accept that what he did was understandable but not okay and try to apologize?
I'm sorry, the Mirage-armor was just silly. It looked silly too. Granted the movie did kind of foreshadow it with Noah's Mirage-glove, but a simple glove is leagues away from 'dismantling my entire body to give my bestie a mech-suit made out of me'. And no hate to the CGI artists, but they messed up big time on the armor. It's obvious Noah's face is photoshopped in there and the movements are just way too video game character-y.
I'm not sure how I feel about the G. I. Joe teaser. I've never watched the cartoon, but I am aware they've had a history of crossovers with Transformers. Still, this feels like another attempt at creating a cinematic universe a la Marvel and I'm really starting to get sick of those. Plus, are we supposed to just ignore that a government organization was spying on Noah the whole time, meddled with his family's medical business and is already looking to weaponize the Autobots for their own purposes through Noah's connection with them? I gotta say, that's a whole lotta yikes that we're just supposed to accept because the Joes are, allegedly, the Good Guys. And come to think of it, how come they only contacted Noah? How come Elena didn't get contacted as well? She was right there, they never would've been able to save the world without her contributions! But that transitions neatly into my next point.
This movie does it's female characters dirty. All of the main groups suffer from Smurfette Principle (each group has only one female character who is mostly relegated to sidekick or background role for the sake of the male characters). Like, the male-female ratio isn't balanced at all here. Two of the four main girls don't get to do anything but be there, more or less, one gets fridged and one gets shafted for the sake of her male companion. Airazor's death was an insult, I'm sorry, but it was. You're telling me that Scourge has the ability to corrupt and brainwash other Transformers and out of the dozens of characters he fights/comes close to over the course of the movie, the only one he uses that on is the sole female Maximal? Oh and just to add insult to injury: Bumblebee gets fatally stabbed in the first act, but gets magically revived during the climax through energon. Not Airazor though. She stays dead. I guess healing springs are boys only. Don't get me started on Elena. The movie spends so much time building her up as the Heart, the Brain to Noah's Brawn whose contributions are just as if not more important and then it screws her over in the climax by removing the one way for her to save the day so Noah and Optimus can do it instead. She literally gets dragged off the battlefield so the men can do the "real" fighting. Oh, and remember Airazor? The movie was teasing that Airazor could be to Elena what Mirage is to Noah, but not only does Airazor die, she attacks Elena beforehand and Elena is forced to witness Primal mercy-killing her. Fucking wow. Elena wasn't allowed to have anything in this movie. (Yes, it was nice to see her being credited with the discovery of the old underground city in Peru, but again: The fact that Noah was given major credit for helping save the world while she was more or less shoved into the background and ignored speaks volumes). You're probably wondering why I haven't said anything about Arcee and Nightbird yet. That's because there is nothing to say. They're barely characters in this movie. Arcee is flat as they come and Nightbird is just a villain who spouts eeevil one-liners. Thanks, I hate it.
We did not need a return of the Realistic Old Man robot designs. Stratosphere and Wheeljack look so deeply out of place next to the others. Why couldn't Wheeljack keep his design from Bumblebee (the movie) and just have it tweaked a bit to fit in on Earth? Seriously, were the "realistic" faces anyone's favorite part of the old Bayverse series? Optimus, Arcee's, Mirage's and Bumblebee's designs were already perfect. Just human enough to be readable, just otherworldly enough to be alien, why did we have to do Jackie and Strats like that???
I'm gonna say it: It was way too early to bring in Unicron as the Big Bad. In Transformers canon, Unicron is basically Thanos. You can allude to him, hint at him as a Greater Evil that's to come, but you do not bring in fucking Unicron as your Starter Villain! Imagine if in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 1, Thanos just showed up at the midpoint, teamed up with Ronan and got beaten by the Guardians. That's this movie with Unicron and Scourge. You already had perfectly serviceable villains with Scourge's team, you didn't need to waste the planet-level threat like that! Unicron should have been this constant looming presence in the background, someone we regularly see Scourge interact with and him managing to cross over should be a Worst Case Scenario, not the actual climax. He should not have appeared in person! Because now that the bubble's burst, the tension is gone. We don't need to be afraid of Unicron anymore, because the heroes already beat him once and he has no way to return. And where do you go to escalate from a literally planet-sized Transformer god who eats other planets as fuel??? Where do you escalate from there?? What or who could be more of a threat than a god??? There's a reason Unicron was the Big Bad for a whole separate movie in G1. Now that you had him, every other threat will inevitably look like a step down in comparison. The Decepticons will look like a step down in comparison! Good job Jody Harold, I didn't think anyone could shoot themselves in the foot that badly, but you've proved me wrong quite expertly. Bravo!/s
The Autobots and Maximals feel so underdeveloped. It's been an unfortunate trend in live-action Transformers that the actual Transformers are more window-dressing than anything else ever since Transformers (2007) and sadly, that's very much the case in this movie. Apart from Optimus and, if we're being extremely generous, Mirage, none of the Autobots get anything resembling a character arc or good character moments. Same for the Maximals. The Terrorcons are just generic villains who are neither hammy nor cool enough to leave a lasting impression. There are hints of potential, with the implication that the Terrorcons are remnants of worlds destroyed by Unicron that Unicron brainwashed into his service, but we never really elaborate on that. They're really just goons for the heroes to get whooped by in the first act, so they can be triumphantly defeated in the third act. They had something going with the Optimus/Scourge rivalry and the potential Scourge/Primal rivalry, but none of it is executed in a way that feels narratively satisfying. Optimus gets his ass beat once and Bumblebee gets stabbed trying to help him and from then on Optimus kinda wants revenge until he doesn't. Primal's brother Apelinq dies to Scourge while holding the line so the Maximals can escape their planet, but that's literally only mentioned once and then Primal just forgets he was supposed to hold a grudge, I guess. Watching the movie, it's pretty obvious the Transformers were an afterthought, which really shouldn't be the case in a movie series that has their name in the title.
The action is extremely underwhelming. The fight choreography is kind of okay, but everything feels way too floaty and weightless. There's no 'oomph' behind any of the punches, kicks or any physical attacks. Same goes for the gunfights. The characters might as well be firing with pea-shooters for all the damage any projectile does in this movie. Airazor's fire-breath is the closest thing a weapon comes in this movie to being actually threatening, because she's allowed to do actual damage that isn't shrugged off. If there's anything to be said for the original Bayverse movies, it's that the fights were phenomenal. You could actually feel the characters were heavy, you could tell they were getting hurt. Nothing about this film's fight-scenes feels tense or engaging. Just a bunch of robots shooting blue pellets at one another and doing flips in-between. That's it. Bumblebee (2018) only had like three major fight-scenes and it still managed to outdo this one in terms of solid action. The big battle scene in the climax tries to feel grand and high-stakes, but it doesn't work because you don't care for most of these characters. Though I will admit, Primal kill-stealing from Optimus and Optimus being indignant about it was funny. Maybe I would have cared more if we'd had more interactions like that between the characters.
Conclusion:
This movie was mid in every way. Some characters stood out, most didn't. The story was nothing to write home about, the acting is solid for the most part but the action doesn't deliver and you constantly feel like there could have been more if the movie handled its time better.
4.5/10, Bumblebee (2018) did it better.

People being like "Eggman is a surprisingly good dad to Sage" and then Eggman in the game mostly just sitting there doing nothing while she's just protecting him with him giving nothing in return except an ounce of praise for doing her job as even Sage's flashback montage shows (which was actually genius btw) and then letting her go out to knowingly sacrifice herself to save him at the end is so endlessly funny to me. That's literally the best thing about how Eggman didn't do practically anything in this game, though of course I did actually want and expect way more screen time. But not of Eggman and Sage being wholesome and sweet together.
That's missing the point of the dynamic, it wasn't needed for what they were trying to portray. Eggman and Sage's dynamic was never supposed to be built on what Eggman does for her, only the other way around. While they could've made it more blatantly clear to avoid confusion and misinterpretation that was done even by me first, it is actually in the game when you look and I love that. Eggman only praises her for what she does for him, then let her sacrifice herself to save him and the world he wants to rule. He stays his own priority all the way through, it's why he created her in the first place, as even the Frontiers prequel comic was sure to emphasize
That's why I can't get behind the idea that there should've been more affectionate moments beyond Eggman's tiny praise for her saving his ass, like hugging or him doing a selfless act or having more emphasized care and emotion or something. The point is that it didn't happen, Sage's love wasn't based on that and Eggman's value also wasn't. They have much more interesting reasons, such as Sage already feeling it's her duty to protect him and being willing all along but learning to apply love to it through Sonic and friends, not Eggman. Then with Eggman's side of it, it's because he created her to do something and she actually does it, which makes him proud of his skill in creating her and makes her useful and worthy of praise to him as he says in the memos. And that's Eggman alright! 💜💕
Their father and daughter dynamic isn't your typical conventional one and doesn't have your common expecting reasonings behind it on both Eggman's and even Sage's sides. And again, I find that so much more interesting than how fandom has been attempting to simplify it or try to "fix" it, so it will fit into those boxes of generic common fandom themes. If there's any flaws with Frontiers' story at all, it certainly isn't that and I'll defend their decision in how they chose to present it, (lack of clear clarification in certain parts when needed aside at least, as too much of this is only made clear in the memos) it's actually in character and very genius that way
The more I think about it and look into it the more I love it fr. This is exactly what they need to keep going with in future media

WHOLESOME SONIC & TAILS WEDNESDAY BABYYY!!!
Short fic I whipped up today-- I know it's probably been done before, but I wanted a "Sonic's learning how to care for a toddler + hearing each other talk for the first time + Sonic naming him" all in one and haven't found all that in one fic yet so here we are!!
Looking after a toddler was harder than it sounded.
Especially when said toddler needed to be watched by the fastest thing alive, who was used to racing through everything with absolutely nothing holding him back.
Sonic studied the little two-tailed fox kit at his feet, trying to figure him out. Technically, no one had assigned him to watch this little one, but he'd found the poor thing getting bullied by some jerks. He'd taken care of the bullies, and the next thing he'd known, the little fox was flying after him. Yes, flying, using his twin tails as a helicopter of sorts.
That was all it took for Sonic to feel like the little kit was now his responsibility.
They hadn't actually spoken. Sonic wasn't sure if the fox kit could even talk yet, and he didn't see the use in trying to communicate with him vocally.
It was harder to keep on running when he now had to make sure the kit was safe. He hadn't realized how many needs one had until he needed to think of two mouths to feed, two places to sleep, etc.
It wasn't necessarily hard. It just took some getting used to. Nothing Sonic the Hedgehog couldn't handle!
He looked up and scanned their surroundings. They'd stopped for a break in a small, sparse forest. The fox kit was going back and forth from looking around nervously to gazing up at Sonic with owlish eyes. He stood not even a foot away from the hedgehog, clearly trusting him to protect him from any more danger.
Sonic waved a little to get the kit's attention, then pointed onward to the path they'd been following. The little one nodded vigorously, then spun his tails and hovered into the air. Sonic gave a single, firm nod, then took off down the trail.
As they sped along the way (the kit was able to keep up fairly easily, it was cool how flight seemed to automatically enhance speed), Sonic snuck a tiny glance back at his tiny friend. The fluffy little fox continued flying, unaware of Sonic's curious gaze.
Sonic still didn't know his name. Sure, he'd only been taking care of him for a week or so, but he learned the names of most folks he met the same day he met them. Granted, most folks he met weren't neglected orphan (?) toddlers.
Sonic had all but decided to adopt him at this point, despite not having known him for long. So would that leave the naming process up to him?
He smiled a little to himself as he continued running. Sounded good.
The thing was, though, he hadn't actually ever named someone before. Heck, he wasn't even yet twelve years old himself.
What kind of name would fit the little fox? He was small, still had all his baby-fluff, was a brownish-gold color, had big, bright, sky-blue eyes, with white fur across his stomach and muzzle (and obviously the tips of his twin tails).
An idea of a name, or nickname, was just on the tip of his tongue when suddenly the sound of robots, a lot of them, creaked up ahead over the hill. It was followed by maniacal laughter, and Sonic skidded to a halt and rolled his eyes with a scoff. He'd know that laugh anywhere by now.
Excited by the idea of a fight, Sonic was just revving up to spindash over the hill into the battle, but a squeak of fear suddenly made his heart lurch, and he almost fell over himself trying to stop.
The fox kit.
He was a literal toddler. He seemed about three years old, nowhere near old enough to fight or defend himself. Sonic couldn't just expect him to follow him into the battle and manage to avoid all the lasers and claws and spikes. He would get hurt too easily.
But . . . Sonic never ran from a fight.
He crossed his arms and frowned in frustration at the grassy ground, tapping his foot impatiently as he tried to figure out what to do. He wanted to fight, he had to fight. He didn't know what Eggman was up to. For all he knew, the crazed scientist was planning something big and dangerous, and might carry it to fruition if Sonic didn't stop him now.
But he also had to keep the fox kit safe.
An idea hit him, and before he'd given himself the chance to think it through, he spun around, scooped up the little fox into his arms, and took off back into the forest-- just not quite at his normal speed so the sonic boom wouldn't give him away to Eggman.
As soon as Sonic had found a safe-looking hiding place-- a hollowed-out nook beneath some tree roots-- he knelt down and gently tucked the fox kit into the little space. Just for extra security, he scooped up some big chunks of moss and tucked it around his friend's body. He held up his hands in a "stay" gesture, but a part of him worried that the little one wouldn't understand fully what was going on.
"Stay here," he said aloud, trying to look both gentle and stern, and the kit's eyes grew wide. "I'm just going to fight off the scary robots. I'll come back for you."
He waited till he got a nod from the fox kit, whose mouth was agape and eyes were still huge. The moment he'd gotten the acknowledgement, he spun around and blasted back towards where he'd seen Eggman and his robots.
The fight was quick and easy, routine at this point for him. Eggman yelled insults at him, he smashed through the bots, waited for the mad scientist to fly away in his orb-like flying thing (all the while shouting more threats at him) but for once Sonic skipped the stupid taunts and banter from his own end. He needed to get back to the fox kit.
When he skidded to a halt back at the hollow, his shoulders slumped in relief to see that his tiny friend had obeyed and was still huddled in the space. He was also still gaping at him in amazement.
Sonic grinned and flashed him a thumbs-up, then his own jaw went slack when the kit exclaimed happily, "You talk!" in the sweetest little toddler voice he'd ever heard.
"You talk?!" he exclaimed back, holding out his arms in excitement. "Buddy! Why didn't you say something before?!"
"You were quiet," the kit pointed out, his voice and words choppy and hesitant, making it evident that while he could talk, it was just barely. "I ph'ot I should be quiet too."
"Buddy," Sonic chuckled. "I just thought ya couldn't talk yet. That's all."
"'Course I can talk!" the fox chirped, sounding both indignant and proud.
Sonic snickered. "'Course you can talk," he echoed back teasingly. "Well then, what's your name, kid?"
The kit made a face. "Promise not to tell anyone?" He glanced around a few times before he added, still looking sour, "It's Miles."
Sonic tilted his head. "Miles? You don't look like a Miles to me."
The fox kit's annoyance at the sound of his own name was almost startling, he clearly didn't like it at all. The idea of not liking one's own name wasn't rare, but it seemed odd for a fox as young as this one to feel such a way.
But that meant Sonic could still name him. He grinned and winked at his new little pal, remembering the name he'd been thinking of earlier. "Okay. I'll call you Tails."
Barely a second after hearing his new name, the fox kit-- Tails-- lit up like it was the most exciting thing he'd experienced. Maybe it was.
"Yes! Yes, yes!" he exclaimed happily, jumping out of the hollow to fly around in a circle. "Tails! I'm Tails!"
And Sonic merely smiled. It seemed like he had a new baby brother.
(thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed! This will be posted on Wattpad soon - my user is Chaton15 there - and this has made me want to write a ton more so I'll just post it as the first of a bunch of Sonic one-shots. 🤩)
