how does the daily guy anatomy work
aaaaawesome question so
the part of his head that's just floating there just does that. it floats up and down a little but generally tracks to the rest of his head. it doesn't hurt for it to exist like that, but it does hurt if he touches the exposed flesh on either side of the head, and it kind of stings if he touches the red strings that connect the two. the "strings" kind of feel the same to the touch as dental suture does
it causes a little bit of depth perception issues but not enough that he can't get around normally (though he does bring a walking stick for hiking, but he started that habit before he got this issue). some hooded clothes (like raincoats) won't really fit him due to the head thing. he can squish his head together to fit in but it'll sting a lot. his dad usually sews/stitches hats & such to fit his head better
he's got a nose that's just. where you would expect a nose to be on his face. i never draw it because it wouldn't be very visible if he existed in real life and any time i draw him i'm drawing a simplified/stylized version of him anyhow. he's also got ears, also not very visible so i don't draw them either, etc. his design was made with simplicity in mind because i am NOT an artist by any means & he was originally made as a character for a video game i was making but am no longer making and don't have plans to make. i might commission an artist to make a proper ref sheet for him sometime
also he's not a dog. he's not strictly any species of anything cause he's kind of just a guy but people always ask if he's a dog (he's not)
(also thank you for the question i love yapping about this nerd)

For how often Van Helsing is interpreted as an author self-insert for being “smart and knowledgeable” and whatnot… Bram sure seems to love having Mina completely own him every time the guy starts thinking he’s the only one in the crew who knows stuff.
Van Helsing: “Now, I’m sure you kids aren’t familiar with it, but here’s a brief introduction to criminology.”
Mina, a nerd, lover of ghost stories who also probably has actively researched the most interesting murders to ever happen on England out of sheer curiosity: “Actually…”
Stoker, while writing: “Humble him, girl.”

I know there are as many religious good guys as there are religious bad guys in IDW, but I think I pinned down the reason why it feels like the most prominent religious figures are all bad guys and it's pretty much due to the worldbuilding.
Maybe my memory of the comics is just really bad, but the religious worldbuilding in IDW is....kind of trash honestly. I'm not sure there's a single religion or religious custom that doesn't exist solely to further the plot along. Like, it's one thing for the Camiens to worship the Primes and that causes a lot of stuff in exRID/OP, but what does that worship actually look like? What are their holidays, customs, religious texts? What about "spectralism" which basically the only thing we know about is the Festival of the Lost Light and some hippie color coding and aura shit? Like sure, there are characters who are religious and their beliefs come into play sometimes, but it honestly feels (especially in MTMTE) more like their religiousness only exists when it's relevant to the plot and it's just kinda. Disappointing eh. Lacking in worldbuilding. Plus the more religious a character is the more it's written as their entire personality and the driving force making them evil so it just kinda made me cringe to read honestly.

does daily guy have a reference sheet please say yes ,
yes times one hundred thousand + hits you with beams from my mind (positive)
the first image below was the most recent attempt at a reference sheet, the second image is a Very Old drawing i made for my own reference when creating a 3d model of him.
imho neither of them are amazing (frequently draw him skinnier than he is supposed to be + i kinda flip flop on what he looks like from a side profile view) but i definitely do not draw him Consistently. he has fingers if you want him to, his outfit changes however you want him to, he's shaped however you want him to. all that matters is that he's silly and very short and likes hiking
there's definitely a million more references for him if you look at the daily guy tag on my blog! some of the earlier days are kind of higher effort, though my ability to draw has changed & gotten better throughout doing this.
though the one thing i used to get lazy a lot with was drawing the part of his head that is separated the way that it is. u can get as abstract or off model as you want drawing him but i do ask that the string things are kept. also his colour scheme doesn't matter  here's an image of all the ways i coloured him from days 1-100 for reference
sorry for the text wall response for a post that really could be one line of text and an image, but i like him

was excited to talk to someone irl about BG3 the other night at a party only to find out she like viscerally hates both Astarion and Gale 😭 who collectively take up about 85% of my brain space at any given time
it's still nice to talk to someone about the game but it definitely makes me feel a little unhinged and obsessive every time I try to connect with someone irl on it lol. like man I just can't enjoy things casually, huh
