Alright guys, gals and nonbinary pals! As previous Five Time Champ it is my greatest honor and privilege to give to you our lineup for the Seventh Annual Lair Games!

This year's games are unlike any other, with each round something entirely new thanks your incredible game maker, moi! That's Spanish for Leo btw-

Round One: Pipe Goop Portal Chicken! Starting us off with a classic, my all time signature event from my time as a player, but with a special Hamato Leonardo twist: All competitors will balance over an open portal! The first person to flinch gets portalled to the other side of the Lair and has to find their way back before the next event, or they are immediately disqualified from Round Two!

Round Two: The Handstand Hill Bomb! Yet another classic to ease our way into things! Players must balance on their skateboards going down the ramp in a perfect handstand! First person to cross the finish line wins!

Round Three: Pie Darts Versus Portals! In celebration of Pi Day (yes Donnie I did make Pi themed events you're welcome) this is one of three Pie Themed events! Instead of our usual pizza darts, this year we'll be throwing slices of pie at our targets!

Round Four: Shell Shuffle! Somewhere hidden in the Lair is my awesome battle shell. First person to find the shell and bring it to me wins. But! Every fifteen seconds, I portal the shell to a new location!

Round Five: Dizzy Hopscotch! A new spin on the classic Dizzy Race, players will spin themselves in a chair, making themselves dizzy before completing a game of hopscotch and pressing the button!

Round Six: Fizzy Volcano! It's national scientist day, so let's do an experiment! Put a thing of Mentos in a giant bottle of soda, and the first person to drink their entire bottle wins!

Round Seven: Attack of the Killer Saxes! Hidden in the Lair are several pieces of five different saxophones and a jingle! Players must find and assemble their saxophones and play the jingle perfectly! First person to do this wins!

Round Eight: Pie Me Up Piebald! Introducing our other awesome sister, players will face off against Piebald for the chance to get their grubby hands on the the elusive Chocolate Silk Pie!

Round Nine: The Pie Eatening! A good old fashioned pie eating contest!

Round Ten: Glitter Pumpkin Break! Inspired by our previous watermelon competition, players must try to get the perfect split on five glitter filled pumpins! The only catch? No weapons allowed!

Round Eleven: Blind Love! Kind of like hide and seek, where all of the players are blindfolded and seeking out your favorite ex-ninja, me! First player to find me and give me a hug wins!

Round Twelve: Capture the Bandana! Our training game taken to a whole new level! It's a free for all on whose bandana can be snatched first! The last person standing with their mask wins!

Round Thirteen: Baja Beach Ball Blast! Instead of water balloons, why not use beach balls? Last person standing wins!

Round Fourteen: PUN-ishment! Featuring Not-So-Special Guest Baron Draxum! Who doesn't love a good old fashioned pun competition?? First person to come up with a witty quip that makes Draxum so much as chuckle wins!

Round Fifteen: Pineapple Balance! As a bitter reminder of that awful time everyone blamed me for sabotaging Donnie last year during Fridge Balance, this year we'll be balancing Pineapples instead! Whoever hits the floor last wins!

Round Sixteen: Finishing things off with our all time classic, Shell Bowling! Players will jump off from the top of the skateboard ramp and will try to score the perfect ten!

Good luck to all of our competitors: Donnie, Mikey, Raph, and newcomers Venus and Yuichi! I'll let our previous Champ Donnie make his speech, then I'm handing the commentary over to our girls April! Happy Lair Games and Happy Pi Day everybody!

God I fucking wish youtubers would stop saying shit like "nonbinary pals/friends/[whatever the fuck]"

Like just say people. Or don't even do the "ladies and gentlemen" thing and just address your viewers all together. I just hate that it makes me feel like I'm in a high school assembly and the speaker is trying way to hard to be friendly. Even from creators I really like it just feels icky

The Terrain

The Dwarven Forge Dungeons of Doom tiles and Dungeon Lair chairs are campaign 2 staples at this point. Another terrain maker often seen on CR is Mantic Games and their Terrain Crate line, with models appearing as far back as C2E35 during another sloppy heist. The large round table pictured above on the right is from this product line. I thought it was new to CR, but upon review, I discovered that the same model was in the Pumat Sol storefront fight. Maybe Pumat Sol won a magic furniture contract with the Cerberus Assembly? Neutral Capitalist is a vicious alignment.

It’s a nice table. Trouble is that the original Kickstarter run of this Terrain Crate table was a bit on the bendy side, giving it a sorta melty Salvador Dalí clock look. This is not an uncommon problem with minis cast in softer plastic and generally can be fixed with the hot/boiling water dip method, during which the model can be reshaped. But it looks good here, so either Mantic Games has improved their manufacturing or Matt did some water-based carpentry work on this wood table.

The Baddies?

The guards minis and the spellcaster mini in this section of the sanatorium have appeared in other episodes. The spellcaster was pretty difficult to identify given how far zoomed out the battle cam was. I was initially convinced it was a totally different figure. But after further analysis, looks like it’s our old dreaded adversary Tomb of Annihilation #018 Valindra Shadowmantle as seen in the cathedral battle. A pretty dreadful model indeed, works well enough in this capacity as a spellslinging goon, but definitely not fit for a PC or important NPC.

The Spell Effects

Clever use of a transparent plastic spell overlay. Looks neato. This specific spell effect is the Arcknight 5E Wizard Spell Effects SUNBEAM template:

Closing Thoughts

One relatively minor complaint about Arcknight products. This may have changed since I bought some of their stuff, but as of a few years ago, none of their stuff came pre-cut. Which I get would be wildly expensive from a production standpoint to do, but it’s a bit of a hassle for the consumer, particular for someone such as I who never quite achieved straight line cutting proficiency.

Wow! I finally decided to start posting information up here, because this project is totally starting to move forward now! Hearts Beating Halidae is a Solo DnD Campaign coming soon to youtube and ao3, in the forms of an Imitation Sound Novel and a full transcript respectively, and Rei Kaguya is that story’s main character! The Venture Association is always trying to recruit new heroes to protect the world of Halidae, a once-wartorn continent that has since come to a peace between kingdoms- A peace which must be upheld in the face of wannabe wrongdoers! Young hopefuls like Rei are tasked to assemble a guild of between four and ten people, then complete a challenge set forth to that guild in order to become licensed. Rei plans to do their level best to fill that task with other trans people, finding it much too hard to relate to those who are cis.

Alright guys gals and nonbinary pals listen up

If you are a member of Loki’s Army, Loki’s Resistance, a Loki fan in general, or are just really into Loki-joins-SHIELD/the Avengers fics, I have really wonderful news for you!

This story, A History of Falling, is one of the best written Loki-falls-to-Earth-postThor(2011) I have ever read in my life. I really cannot recommend it enough, but if that premise seems too generic for you, it includes:

in character Loki that is portrayed as flawed yet sympathetic, still angry about the events of Thor 1 yet still assimilating to Earth’s culture in a believable way

in character Thor who loves his brother but still doesn’t understand him and thus still fucks up even though he thought Loki was dead for years

in character Steve Rogers adjusting to the 21st century befriending Natasha and Clint

in character Phil Coulson who is Most Suspicious of SHIELD’s newest consultant

Steve! and Loki!! Friendship!!! that is in character and makes sense!!!!

Loki interacting with Agents of SHIELD characters like Jemma, Fitz, and Skye!

OCs of color make brief but meaningful appearances quite often!!

Loki! Interacting!! with kids!!! in a positive way!!! it’s too adorable for words!!!!

Loki finding a small corner of the world with people who genuinely care about him!!!!!!

background characters like Tony Stark and Nick Fury are still fabulously in character which is a plus

did I mention in character dialogue?? that’s actually funny???

It’s very well written! and even some of the unspoken lines describing actions or past events are just as humorous as actual things that happen in the movies

Loki has no idea what modern misogyny is supposed to be like and has absolutely no time for it. he has a pink cellphone and inspires a young girl to learn how to use live weaponry

Loki teaching children how to fight with swords

in character Natasha Romanova who empathizes with Loki’s secrecy and duplicitous nature??? A++++++++

Clint Barton is allowed to be funny and have a stake in the plot instead of just being the Arrow Guy

an Original Plot with a seemingly Original Villain

No! Forced!! Romance!!!!!

each chapter opens with random flashbacks/texts written by various characters, including little baby Loki diary entries that are just. So Good.

references to future MCU movies (mentions of the Winter Soldier, foreshadowing for HYDRA’s reveal in SHIELD, reference to Asgard’s past as colonizing dictators that the rest of the universe sees as a civilization to fear, Thanos chilling in his asteroid hideout, etc)

this is an AU where the Avengers were never forced to assemble, but the world is still changing. the year is 2013, one year after what should have been the Battle of New York, and just a few months prior to the beginning of the first season of Agents of SHIELD. Loki has been on Earth for two years. Steve has been out of the ice and trying to adjust for one year. Thor has believed Loki to be dead for two years.

it’s over 100,000 words long so far and we just got to the Thor-Loki reunion and I’m still dying about it

still in progress but updates every few months. last update was March of 2019 and if the author’s updating pattern holds up as it usually does, it will be updated sometime in June!

please I just need somebody to scream about this story with me it’s so fucking good but it doesn’t have nearly the amount of attention it deserves.
