20 Fanfic Questions
Thanks to @merfilly for the tag!
How many works do you have on AO3?
126
What’s your total AO3 words count?
577,228
What fandoms do you write for?
Superwood (Supernatural/Torchwood crossover) is my biggest, followed by Supernatural, the Fast & Furious franchise, and Anne of Green Gables.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Down in Mexico (The Fast & The Furious)
Shine the Hood (The Fast & The Furious)
Rilla Blythe's Wedding: A Not Entirely Comprehensive Account (Anne of Green Gables)
Field Work (Supernatural)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I love responding to comments. I don't get to it as often as I used to, but I really enjoy making a pot of tea and sitting down with my laptop to answer everything in my inbox. If you send me love, you will (eventually) get love back.
What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Ugh, Luminaria for sure, which I'm not linking because of some of the themes - you'll need to look that one up on your own and read ALL of the tags before proceeding. I didn't realize how hard of a time I'd have writing that one until I was in the middle of it, although I suppose I should have known considering I was finally going to touch the one hot point of Jack's sad history that I'd been avoiding. I think it was the first time I've ever written Ianto, really written him, and fuck, the PAIN.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
As I'm going through my fics, like, fuck, do I write actual happy endings? Considering the characters I write, it's not super surprising. How about Adventures in Holiday Baking? Everyone's happy and they save the dragons with German pastries? Field Work ends pretty okay?
Do you get hate on fics?
Not really. I think that's the blessing of existing in semi-anonymity. I have some fics that have racked up some surprising kudos, but I write for niche ships and very dead fandoms. I get the occasional weird comment, but nothing I'd call hate.
Do you write smut. If so what kind?
Yes. I have a hard time writing explicit smut because several of the characters I write frequently really balk at using the typical jargon in their narratives, and I cannot write flowery purple prose anymore. It's easier to write smut from some characters' viewpoints than others. I've written mild kink and I enjoy writing characters in kinky scenes, but I don't think I'm very good at it.
Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Aha. Ahaha. Ahahahahaha. *sob*
Angels in the Architecture. I took my most dearly beloved fandoms and I made a jello salad with them.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not really? I mean-- *gestures over shoulder at the restaurant alley dumpster full of raccoons* --who wants this?
Have you ever had a fic translated?
I've had some offers, which I accepted, but I have no idea if they were translated or not.
Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes! Several times! I've gotten a little more withdrawn about collabs in my old age, but I've enjoyed the fics I've written with partners (and the Legendary One still sitting unfinished in my drive).
What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Look at my icon. You see my icon? It's Them. They haunt me. They will not leave me alone. Writing this ship is a lonely, lonely existence. Send help.
What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I am the kind of author who abandons a fic for almost a decade and then finishes it in six months, so I'll never say never. Indecent Rhythm certainly haunts me. The problem with that fic is I feel like I'm too old, jaded and scarred to finish it with the optimism with which I started it. I have a feeling there are people now who read that when they were teenagers who have kids now, and have had their own imagined endings to it for years, and so maybe I should just let them be and have the endings that they wanted rather than whatever I could come up with.
What are your writing strengths?
Settings. I dig into settings and I love including local color. Some of the memorable details from fics (Down in Mexico specifically comes to mind) come from me doing a street view tour of a neighborhood, wandering around to see what a city I've never visited looks like from the sidewalk.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Plotting in general. I have scenes, sometimes loose what-ifs. Bringing a story from idea to satisfying finish is paralyzing and 90% of the reason I don't finish a fic. I enjoying writing. The planning is a bitch of a dissatisfactory situation.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If I have a good reason for it, I'll do it, but there are usually better ways to go about including other languages in fic. I've been learning Italian, however, and I've been itching to try writing drabbles in Italian.
First fandom you wrote for?
The Firebringer Trilogy, by Meredith Ann Pierce.
Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
It used to be Life Support, which is one of the fics I reread periodically and just kind of gape at myself because I forget I can write like that. But it's been upstaged by Out of the Empty, because that fic allowed me to incorporate all of the loopholes we got in the final season of Supernatural to scoop Castiel entirely out of the canonverse, to write Empty!Meg, and to write lovers meeting in dreams (more or less) before they meet in person, which is a favorite romance trope of mine. I worked a lot of my rage at the series out in that fic, and it's one of the few fics I can say I'm completely happy with.

in the meadow - 256
an account of past kisses - 185
vinyl and an alleyway niche - 97
it’s not what it looks like - 91
learning to take breaks - 86
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I absolutely try to respond to every comment. Some get past me or some i feel like my answer would just be really repetitive so i hold off,,,, but i really love seeing comments and responding so that people know that i saw their comment !!!
What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Okay so all my fics are super sweet bc i have a hard time ending things on a dour note lol
I like fix it fics !!!
But i do have a wip in the works that will be hurt/no comfort and that will quickly become my fic with the angstiest ending
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably in the meadow. Everyone is crying and in love and its the cheesiest ending ever but i love and adore it because who doesn’t love a little cheese !!!!!!
Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet lol. Im not popular enough for the haters to come attacking. I just have my small and valuable army of supporters WHO I ADORE
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No i don’t particularly enjoy smut in general. I will on occasion write a steamy makeout but i don’t do smut
Do you write crossovers?
I would enjoy writing crossovers because im a big au fan. I got @veilder to rant to me last night about a trigun x genshin idea and it made me excited bc i like when veil info dumps (i love when anyone info dumps,,, IF YOU HAVE MILLYNAI THOUGHTS PLEASE SEND THEM TO ME)

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Vashmeryl and millynai have risen SO HIGH ON MY LIST
Honestly Millynai is my favorite, but Royai will forever remain and all time favorite ship (and tenrose WHOOPS)

Hrmmm i have a razmeryl wip i really want to finish but i don’t know when ill have the time to dedicate my brain to their Insane Dynamic
What are your writing strengths?
I think i write with a good flow. Its not so choppy (at least not anymore lol) and it keeps anyone whos reading engaged enough to keep going.
And i appeal to emotion and yall love that dont you
What are your writing weaknesses?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm i have many
Im repetitive? I use the same words and phrases over and over,,,, and im predictable in how characters act bc i often project myself into them,,, meaning i use myself as a reference and i try not to but it helps make it real in my mind
I often outline too much and scare myself out of actually writing lol
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I would certainly try,,, but the only language im really semi-qualified to translate into is American Sign Language (which i would love to do, we are severely lacking in deaf characters)
First fandom you wrote for?
Doctor Who baby !!! my fic is still out there floating in the void that is wattpad
Favourite fic you've ever written?
in the meadow,,,, hands down. Please if you havent read it i would love if you would.... Its quite fun and has redemption and character exploration and kiss scenes and yearning and pining and denial and its a slowburn sooooooooo you can waste a lot of time with it hehe
ty @frappeflamingo for tagging me !!! i needed something fun to do
im gonna tag @veilder and @noaafishfieldguide bc im mean <3

Writer Education Tag
THANK YOU @ashen-crest FOR THE TAG NOW I HAVE REASON TO SHARE A BUNCH OF THE WEIRD THINGS IVE HAD TO RESEARCH <3<3<3
Rules: Writers often have to research some pretty out-there stuff for our wips. What are some weird, unusual, or oddly specific things you’ve had to learn about or look into?
-- Turkish Reflex bows (construction materials, draw weights, differences from recurves, use in combat, how they're drawn (using the thumb instead of the forefingers) and also dips into variants from other cultures like iirc Mongolian archery) (Related fun fact: I've tried out archery a few times just to get an idea for how it feels!!) -- A Lot of weird animals for creature/fantasy race designs (Gharials, cowtail stingrays, phantom jellyfish, oarfish, orchid mantises, bronze parotia birds of paradise, gyr cattle, etc. etc. etc.) -- Legal terms for things like "this dude is standing in for someone who isn't here" and "knowing about a first degree murder before the fact and not stopping it" (pro tempore and accessory to [crime], respectively) which prompted deep dives into niche lawyer things of which only like 2% stuck in my brain -- Sign language!! And Language-Assisted Signs, because those are different a lot of the time and I wanted to know How and Why to portray Ash and Ice respectfully (Another related fun fact: half of my ASL research has been for use outside of writing, too, because I have Deaf family members. Also, I learned the ASL alphabet when I was 9 and that's come in clutch.) -- Speed of travel for different types of age-of-sail ships, and how to calculate that for a fantasy world where the routes are up to you and not currents of wind and water alike -- Altitude sickness/the Bends -- Ocular autohemmorrhaging (aka squirting blood out your eyes as a defense mechanism. lizards do this a lot) (this was for dragons) -- Differences in symptom presentation between Multiple Sclerosis and Transverse Myelitis (I determined that Lorelei has Multiple Sclerosis) -- Necrosis (Don't look this one up if you have a weak stomach) -- How bog bodies happen and work -- Rabies -- Different forms of paddle boats historically used for swampy navigation -- Traditional Chinese junk rigging, and how it was used in Sampan ships -- Gyroscopes and how they work/what they do/specifically the one in the plane that flew a telescope and had to keep it steady but the name of which ive forgotten -- Many Illegal Kinds Of Knives (did you know certain kinds of switchblades are illegal almost everywhere?? i didn't until semi recently. theyre some of the sexy ones too </3) -- How wing shape affects flight ability in birds -- How owl wings, specifically, are so Quiet (its the feather construction. i still dont quite get it but im tryin) -- Afrofuturistic architecture/the Afrofuturism movement as a whole -- Dancing swords/sabers with a specific focus on their grips and lack of hand guards, and the forms people used when fighting with them -- An Unreasonable amount of sewing techniques which I am now trying to make excuses for annie to reference. -- Fresco painting techniques (ended up not relevant) -- Marble sculpting techniques -- And of course a ton of research into PTSD, traumatic memory loss, OCD, the Autism + ADHD spectra (so i dont just copy-paste myself on everyone), Schizophrenia, etc. etc. for better/kinder portrayals
That is. By Far not an exhaustive list but yeah <3 i enjoy research and talking about the weird shit i learn solely through the hodgepodge of information axes i follow on the regular
I'll tag: @vacantgodling, @space-cadead, @sleepyowlwrites, @athena-anna-rose, and @comicgoblinart!! As always, absolutely 0 pressure to play if you dont want to, and this doubles as an open tag if you do!!

Judith! (1, 4, 6, 10, 11, 20, 18) aaaaand.... Flynn (2, 4, 8, 9, 21, 22, 28)
Alright! Thanks for asking!
Judith first.
My first impression of them: Ok, so. I honestly don't remember. I played Vesperia for the first time 14 years ago and I do not remember first meeting her. I'm going to guess it was... "Cool!" Although given how early I started shipping Yuri/Judy, it may have been, "Wow... she should kiss Yuri." Although, I suppose the actual first impression of her was probably, "Who's that dude on the dragon? This guy is cool." Followed by, "Oh, she's hot!"
4. How many people I ship them with: I think... 3. No, 4. I multiship like crazy and after so many years in this fandom I've at least enjoyed considering a huge array of ships. But mostly I ship her with Yuri as my number one preference. And then if not that, Estelle is also good. And Judith/Flynn is also very fun, and I've enjoyed thinking about Judith/Rita too. Also one time I wrote a three-sentence fic about Judith/Kaufman and you know? That's kinda fun to think about.
6. My least favorite ship of them: Obviously there is a whole range of very niche ships that are incredibly squick, but probably my least favourite partner of semi-common Judith ships is Raven.
10. Describe the character in one sentence. A quiet women who is actually quite intense and passionate but keeps all that shit tightly bottled up
11. What’s the first thing you think about when thinking about the character? Just a sort of :) vibe. Cool. Chill. Will beat you to death. An unflappable surface layer that you've got to then dig into to get to the juicy stuff.
20. A weird headcanon: She doesn't really "talk" to Ba'ul, it's more a sharing of emotions, ideas, and images without language. And spending so many years only communicating with him in this manner is why she comes off a bit strange talking to other people.
18. How do you think they were as a kid? (Like, were they shy, noisy, wild, etc) I think she was very curious. Her father was an academic, so she probably got some of that craving for knowledge from him. Probably a bit of a loner, off exploring nature and examining bugs and climbing trees.
And now Flynn!
2. When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like) As with Judith, I first played this game so long ago that I don't remember exactly. I know I already expected to like him before we even met him just from the way they talked about him. He sounded like my type. The way he enters the story crashing in to save Yuri's ass, then telling him off, bantering a bit and then immediately getting glomped by Estelle probably sold him to me.
4. How many people I ship them with: Since I tend to fall under the multishipping strategy of "my fave + everyone else," uhhh a lot. So in rough order of prominence.... Estelle is my Vesperia OTP. Yuri can be cool too. As mentioned above, Judith is also fun to explore. I tend to like his relationship with Raven as more of a friendship/mentor thing, but a ship can be interesting to think about too. I've thought about how to make it work with Sodia, too, because she needs to do a lot of growth and their relationship would have to evolve and it would be interesting to develop that. Flynn/Alexei is also one of my favourite angst ships. So that's 6 people so far!
8. Your favorite outfit of them. I like the casual hot spring outfit where he's just wearing shorts and a t-shirt. He's so uptight all the time, it's nice to see him relax and dress casually for once.
9. Your least favorite outfit of them. Ok... possibly my most unpopular Flynn opinion but. This one.
Tumblr media
It just. Does not do it for me. The fur? The monocle? Looks like Playboy Bunny fucked Mr. Peanut and I do not care for this at all.
21. When do you think they were at their happiest?
Tumblr media
Flynn has been under a lot of stress for a long time, and once the game ends he will continue to be under a lot of new stress as they have to start dealing with the ramifications of what they've done. But right now? This moment? This is the calm between two storms and he's so at peace, everything is working out. The Adephagos is defeated, his friendship with Yuri is solid once again, Yuri is thriving and Flynn is so happy for him and also proud of him, he's no longer worrying about Estelle or the succession or an imminent war with the guilds, the Knights are in his hands and on the right track.... Tonight, everything is perfect, and he can worry about what comes next in the morning.
22. When do you think they were at their lowest?
The confrontation with Alexei at Yormgen. The last time he saw Yuri, things were at a breaking point between them. There was the disaster with Belius, he's close to losing his best friend, and he's pushing himself to the limit to follow Alexei's orders with the belief it's for the greater good even if it doesn't sit right with him. Then suddenly he pulls up at Yormgen to realize that everything he's done was not only pointless, but also actively harmful. He's been played this whole time, one of his closest friends has been abducted by a man he thought he could trust, Yuri is rightfully furious with him, and what the hell is he supposed to do now?
28. The most unnecessary thing they ever did? Well... I just talked above about how everything he did for Alexei was unnecessary. But you know what else? This.
Tumblr media
What's with the wet suit, Flynn? Unnecessary. Go tits out like everyone else.

1. fave song as a kid vs fave song now
2. if you had to have a third ear where would you put it
3. fave episode of ofmd
Ahhh Connie thank u!! 💛🖤
1. !!! I love music ask ones, so I'm gonna do two for the hell of it.
Two faves as a kid: It Wasn't Me by Shaggy and Creep by TLC
Two faves now: Bad Habit by Steve Lacy and Them Changes by Thundercat
2. I wanna be a niche Futurama cosplay if I'm getting a third ear:
Tumblr media
(Her name is Sally!)
3. The Best Revenge is Dressing Well! Everyone is in fun fancy clothes, rich ppl are getting grifted (Olu and Frenchie my beloveds), and there's arson! Sort of semi-accidental arson, but still. I could watch a season that's just the crew taking turns dressing up and crashing rich ppl party ships to rob and destroy everything.
And I'm with Ed abt the spoons and forks nonsense, like. Pageantry yes, but also I don't care what the spoon is for, if it holds the soup i am trying to eat, then it is now temporarily a soup spoon! Instead of Ed having to deal with that nonsense I think they should just let Calico Jack tag along. When he inevitably tries to use his whip to cut into his entree, no one will be looking to see who is using what utensil lmao

I think if I was like to do a full on review of social medias that I have used, which are gonna just be going off my experience and probably in order of where I started and such, it would go like this
Instagram: 3/10 gave me body image issues on such a horrid scale in all honesty, can become horrid at times because…well it’s meta owned now but it still has the same issues of being instagram and trying to grasp for a sense of identity other then “here is people who look better then you by societies stupid standards
Twitter; pre-Elon:5/10 () post-Elon:2/10 oh boy, this app is a wild ride and a spiral, and a reason why I try my best to keep my following list on apps like that to only be triple digits at most, because tbh, fandom spaces on old twitter here? You can go down a rabbit hole of wild things and horrible situations if done incorrectly and if you follow the wrong people, drama can sadly become your only thing on the stupid timeline. Then Elon came in, change after change to try to make the platform monetizable and profitable to make himself look good and also boost himself up after buying twitter at such a high price and shooting its price multiple times with stupid changes, it feels like a already shoddy ship just got a captain that is now doing things they will think help, but only sink the ship further by shooting it with cannon balls.
Facebook:0/10 horrid old style of invasive internet connection, deleted my account on there and the only reason I would be on there in any sense would be to do a job as a social media account person for someone, you would have to pay me to endure the old design, and also having your family constantly being shoved in your face creepily when some you only see at reunions is kinda the worst, also just feels not nice
Reddit: 4/10 personally only really used it for the niche question here or there or communities I already can interact with here or elsewhere, but what “Reddit refugee’s” are saying is basically the vibe of the place was despite the most odd places I visited didn’t usually fit reddits own vibe that were on there, always on guard like a micro-dose of fight/flight/freeze are being directly beamed into you, maybe it was cus of all the fact checking and fear an opinion on some obscure thing was gonna autocorrected by actual factors, and yeah the fear of being made fun of was heightened while on the platform, especially when in subreddits where I shared my creativity
Newgrounds: 8/10 honestly a vibe, the rating system is cool, the amount of differing type of stuff you can post is cool, the nice touch of being able to age rate your own content and being able to choose what kinda content you see is a lovely experience, honestly only small niche issues like that I wish I could download it as an app at times so it would be more readily available on desktop/phone but I don’t mind doing a few more button presses to get to a great site
Tumblr: 9/10 I may be semi-new to this place but I am very thankful for it existing the only problem with tumblr from my experience…has been tumblr higher-ups trying to add-on things other applications have, which detracts from the reason people come here, BECAUSE it’s old school, BECAUSE it is as bloggy and as long text form as we wish, I don’t like the lives barley anyone who actually uses tumblr actually uses those at all (and from a poll I saw, literally no on tumblr does) and honestly, that speaks volumes, this site is a cockroach because the people on the platform itself just…don’t use wtf they don’t wanna use, which is usually new features that go against what the platform is.
Reblog if you wanna with your own thoughts on site and what you might rate them, i didn’t really put others like YouTube or twitch or discord cus they don’t fit social media, they more so are entertainment and messaging respectively.

Ging Ship Tierlist
This is 100% just my rambling and my opinion so sorry if you disagree with my list!
Pariston x Ging- Look, if you’ve spent more than 2 minutes on my blog you know I’m obsessed with them. They have a lot of the characteristics in ships I like. Opposites attract (although they do think they’re similar to some extent), the semi-rival tension, needing to “keep an eye” on each other, the random sexual tension every time Ging speaks to him…. it’s perfect lmao.
Cheadle x Ging- Oh I think they definitey have some unresolved history with a messy breakup. I like to think at least one of them still has feelings for the other but doesn’t quite know how to bring it up and go about it. So there’s this underlying tension that won’t go away. But that doesn’t mean they can’t rekindle it….
Mizaistom x Ging- Okay I have a very niche specific brainrot for this ship, but I think they work well in the opposites attract area as well. Ging’s undefined by rules and Mizai lives by some. They’re both hotheaded although Mizai tends to pick his battles a lot more often than Ging does, so they both definitely know how to speak their minds.
Kite x Ging- Kite speaks so fondly of him that I can’t help but ship them. What really sold it for me was many years ago when someone made a joke about how the “accompany” card sent Gon and Killua to Kite- Gon’s “other parent” and while I don’t think Kite is legitimately his other dad, I liked the idea of Kite being someone who was so important to Ging that he’d trust him with his son. I also like the little cat and mouse game they play, I think it fits with their personalities.
Cluck x Ging- literally only on the list because their ship name is “gluck” and I think that’s hilarious. However the more I thought about it the more it fit. They could get along on a ruins mission with Cluck being a botanical hunter, since plant life in the area can tell a lot about the environments of the present and past. On a funnier note I have a running gag joke of defining their relationship as “they hooked up at a zodiac party ONCE and now have an immature level of tension because Cluck is embarrassed”. I also hc that she’s taller than him lol she gets a manlet bf.
Beans x Ging- Go watch the Gingbeans amvs on youtube.
Muherr x Ging- “Do you know him?” “Sure.” Muherr is heartbroken. Not even an excited “yeah! he’s great” or anythint. A sure.
Ging x Gon’s Unnamed Mother- Only because we don’t know anything about her, and I like the ambiguity of the pregnancy stone theory. It’s not canon but it’s not not canon.
Leorio x Ging- Okay I’ve seen fanart of this like, twice, and read that one fanfic where they fake-marry so Leorio can adopt Gon and while the concept is humorous I… I can’t lmao. Leorio would never. Not even to “adopt” Gon, haha.

Hey! Welcome! I'm a mess. Just to let you know that up front.
I post screencaps from Criminal Minds (Hotch & Morgan, separate and together, usually) almost every day - if I haven't gotten lazy and forgotten to stuff my queue full.
I write...a lot. I have 1.5 million words (and counting) on AO3 and most of them are about Hotch.
Requests are open, but there are a few guidelines.
Please be patient with me. I've got about one zillion irons in the fire between IRL and the WIPs in my folder already, so if you send a request just know it might be a while before it sees some words.
You can send me your hcs, but please don't ask me to make cool hc lists or anything because I am tragically bad at them. I've tried. I've failed. It's not for me. I love to see what you guys think though, and I love to talk about Hotch and Morgan.
Hotch and Morgan are my OTP. At this point it's a stretch for me to write other CM ships, but I'll go for it if it's Hotch/Blackwolf or Hotch/Will Lamontagne. Other than that, I'll write gen/platonic as long as it's Hotch or Morgan centric. I love to write Jessica Brooks and Sean Hotchner and Morgan's family.
I have a Bad Things Happen bingo card. I'm very slow to fill it but you can have a look if you want.
I love prompt lists! Here are a few of my favorites, feel free to request from them: 102 Different Kisses, numbered kisses...when I find more I'll put them here. Please only send ships listed above.
You an ask for a moodboard - I'm not very good at them but I do really enjoy making them. See rule 3 for characters I'd prefer to stick to. (You can find some I've made using the tag masterwords moodboards)
The fic portion of this masterlist is still being overhauled and re-organized so here is what I have now. I'll get it fixed up soon.
AO3: MASTERWORDS
Hotch/Morgan (hotchgan) stories on AO3 (189 and counting)
The Chicago Times (CM/masterlist) *series of one shots
Ancient History (CM/SWAT AU masterlist) *series
Two Tickets to Paradise (CM/masterlist) *complete but will be turned into a series
Missing Pieces of Sleep (CM/masterlist) *incomplete, slow to update
50 Types of Kisses (CM/masterlist) *series
There Is Comfort Where We Overlap (Hotchgan + baby) *complete but will be turned into a series for future fun
A Little Bit of Faith (Hotchgan + Doyle arc) *incomplete but updated semi-regularly
Time Is Fleeting (Hotchgan + death/grief) *complete
The Night Is Young (Hotchgan/Santa Clarita Diet AU) *incomplete but updated semi-regularly
Restless Heart (Hotchgan + pre-canon slowburn) ** A NOTE ABOUT THIS ONE
no better place (Hotchgan + Chicago retirement series)
down to the wire (Hotchgan + Ralvez + Chicago retirement)
My sideblog is and-good-madness and it's where I keep all the non-CM treasures. Sometimes I post my own screencaps, sometimes I just reblog endless gifs from media I love. Right now I am posting a TON of screencaps from Spoiler Alert (2022) and afterward I might just dive into my current adoration for all things Ben Aldridge. Who knows. I try to keep this main blog to CM, but sometimes I just can't help myself.
I also have a sideblog dedicated to The Long Call (and-slip-away). Yeah. How's that for niche? It's pretty. I post screencaps and fic.
Tumblr media
Criminal Minds: Hotch & Morgan || Aaron Hotchner || Derek Morgan
You can find all of my screencaps by searching for #screencaps ... very clever I know. I put episode numbers on them so most of the time you can search a particular episode number too. If tumblr is feeling kind, anyway.
Things I am very normal about: 1 , 2, 3 (on-going)
If you're looking for something in particular (a fic or screencaps) and you can't find it, just send an ask or a DM.

Thinking of starting some kind of online business. Potentially a clothing brand. I've been trying to find a way to make a difference while at the same time providing myself another income stream. I was thinking a lifestyle brand could work. I've been focusing on marketing a lot lately and trying to find low cost barrier businesses. I'm thinking of taking a class but for now there is an insane amount of useful info in YouTube. It would also be a useful skill(marketing) for any online business venture or a service I could provide for others. In my mind if I could launch a semi successful starter business I can scale from there to others. The idea is to have a percent of sales go to causes like the homelessness situation here in town or maybe specific items that sale for charity specifically. I feel like the charity side will give it an edge and make it different. I don't know yet I'm still figuring it out but I've been looking at designs (actually bought the rights to use a few) and trying to iron out the brand concept and find a niche. The more I look into it the more complex it actually gets and the more stuff I have to learn but also the more I realize you don't need to market to everyone or have a hugely successful brand to find customers and start bringing in money. You just have to get in front of the right people. Apparel success on YouTube has been great. Outsourcing a lot of the work to designers and marketers and such would be nice but I couldn't afford something like that rn... And starting with print on demand will kinda suck with shipping times and stuff but I think if it could make enough money I could transition from print on demand to a fulfillment center and have more control over quality of service from there. Idk. It would be cool to launch something that people associate with while also giving to charity (without being a nonprofit because I need to profit) we'll see. I really want to do something that allows me to help others and waiting until I am financially successful may take my whole life. This may be a way to start donating immediately and support myself and my investments and it doesn't need to be huge. Just an idea so far.

Upcoming Looming Gaia Stories
Here are some upcoming stories to look forward to (titles are not final):
As Nature Intended: Evan, Jeimos, and Isaac must escort a sick ogre across the treacherous Burmek ruins. They run into all kinds of trouble along the way and Shadow suffers a serious wound that may put her adventuring days--and her very life--to an end.
Celestial Signals: Isaac's been having crazy dreams all his life. He's starting to think that maybe these aren't just plain old dreams after all...are mysterious forces trying to tell him something?
Pig Bait: Lilian isn't doing so well since she became mortal again. Alaine, Lukas, and Glenvar decide to take her "hog-hunting" to boost her confidence. Will she find her niche, or is this brutal practice doing more harm than good?
Ocean Machines: A routine contract turns into a rollercoaster of unexpected events, and things keep getting wilder with each new discovery. Oh yeah, and Jeimos finds their father in the most unlikely of places. But can they save him from the bizarre predicament he's in?
The Monster Awakens: Disgrace is back after a long, contemplative year in the cosmic realm. His first order of business? Get his scythe back using any means necessary. But before he can do that, he needs to raise a new army...
For Goodness Sake: FUCK YOU CONNOR, YOU LITTLE BASTARD. Oh my god I hate this kid, and you will too after this story. There isn't much I can say that won't spoil everything, so I'll just say...warning: death of a major character. Multiple characters, actually. This one's gonna make y'all mad as fuck. :')
Cruising Altitude: Still reeling from recent harrowing events, the Freelance Good Guys jump on a cruise ship to get their mind off things. They're supposed to be on vacation, but trouble finds them anyway.
Rise of Elatia: A new character gets introduced in "The Monster Awakens" and he's pretty much the main character of this story. This mf is a nasty, NASTY piece of work. He makes Dario look like a pussycat. Also, Patience is also a major character in this one. That's all I'm gonna say.
Technophobia: The Freelance Good Guys get tangled up with a Damijani religious cult. Now they're fighting killer robots and blowing up semi-trucks on the Zareenite freeway. What?! Yeah this one's insane, don't worry bout it.
Miss Mary: Evan unexpectedly runs into his old friend, Mathias. Wait, that guy's still alive? Things get really awkward really fast. I'll just leave it at that.
Curse of the Incubus: An incubus invades Drifter's Hollow, searching for lonely hearts to exploit. When he finds one, he refuses to let go until one of them drops dead. Who do you think gets incubus'd? And who will save them??
Road of Memories: Isaac asks Dr. Jan for help recovering some lost memories. What she finds is dangerous and disturbing, and it damn near kills her. Maybe some things are best left in the dark.
The Noble's Wife: While on a routine contract to arrest bandits, Skel inadvertently rescues his old flame, Jasenia. Think he's just going to give her back to her husband? Think again.
Vicious Vanity: This one is convoluted as hell, but basically Linde and Morbus end up confronting Haggomah about something, and the divine sends them on a seemingly impossible quest.
That's all for now, but more to come. B)

Sorry to bother you but i am out of the loop. What did Riot do with seraphine?
// @crying-elf-lass // First of all - excellent choice in pfp, Marcille is great.
Now, trying to keep as much bias out of my post as possible... ( though there will be some, and I will miss some things! )
There are three parts to consider. Gameplay, narrative, and niche in the world.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
First, we need to talk about the history of Sona in League of Legends.
Narrative & Niche: Sona, as a champion, has existed for many, many, many years. Her lore was 2 paragraphs and she had no short story. Her canon appearances ( excluding an Odssey short story which I will take about later ) were limited to other champion’s stories ( her adoptive mother, Lestara, helped Quinn to become a ranger-knight, she helped Ryze secure a World Rune in Call of Power ). Several years ago, Riot changed the lore of Demacia ( Sona’s current home ) to be one that denies magic. With the addition of petricite, a magic nullifying material, and several changes in lore, Demacia became the host of several magical problems ( dragons, Evelynn, Nocturne, Fiddlesticks ) and a unit of anti-magic specialists ( mageseekers ).
Throughout that time, up until 2 months ago, Sona’s lore did not receive a single meaningful change or update. This is a period of over 5 years, in which one of Demacia’s only mages / magical creatures ( Poppy, Lux, Sona, Shyvana, and later Sylas ) did not get any sort of answer as to what is happening with her. Several other champions did get an explanation of sorts, with some manner of handwaiving - for example, minotaurs are part of the Demacian army, so magical creatures are not out and out excluded. Yordles are known to be seen differently by different people, so Poppy’s existence is also possible to explain ( we learned this with an interaction between Ziggs and Jinx in Zaun ).
This left Sona writers in a general state of confusion. Is Sona in jail? Is Sona a registered mage? Not to mention that Sona left Ionia ( where a war between Noxus and Ionia occurred ) and the timing of that was unspecified.
Which led to a giant gap in terms of “what is this champion doing and what is her situation”. And each of us tried to fill that gap in our own ways. Some of us had Sona leave Demacia, some had her retreat into her mansion and play less music, some had her be defiant, and so on. Because the last thing we learned was that she was in Ionia, helping Ryze with the World Rune, some people put her in Ionia semi-permanently.
And we also had to contend with the existence of Sylas, who flipped Demacia on its head and caused something of a mage hunt. The finer details of that I exclude, it’s enough to say that certain mages were rounded up and put in prison where once they were exiled, and Lux helped some magically inclined individuals escape. There’s a nuanced conflict there between several members of Demacia ( Garen, Jarvan, Lux, Xin Zhao, Tianna, etc ) but getting into that is not the point of this.
We still didn’t know anything about Sona. So Sona writers and players and enthusiasts tried their very best to fill in the gap with what we did know, often incidentally. We did know that Sona was once in Ionia, that the Ionia-Noxus war happened, that she moved to Demacia, and that she is a famous musician with a magical instrument. Prior to the removal of the Institute of War ( a part of lore which said that ‘summoners’ were real and nations used Summoners + Champions to settle conflicts ), Sona was known globally and was basically Runeterra’s #1 musician when it comes to the etwahl, perhaps more. We also know that Sona is an extremely empathetic person, and her music is borderline spellbinding, to the point where it was easy to guess that she could affect people’s emotions and was an empath. None of that was out and out confirmed, but it was easy to make that logical conclusion.
Very recently, Sona’s lore changed. In it, a lot changed. We learned that she left Ionia with others, rather than just alone and with her etwahl, and it was to escape the Ionia conflict ( not because Lestara, her adoptive mother, wished to possess the fabled etwahl ). Essentially, this new lore painted Sona far more as a war refugee, and painted Lestara in a far better light as well. Along with this lore update/rework, we also got a short story ( that still left what she’s doing now up in the air!)
However, this came after a several year wait. And in that time, Sona enthusiasts had no choice but to come up with answers to all their burning questions by themselves. One Sona writer followed the ‘Sona is the aspect of harmony’ track, another followed the ‘music as a means of community togetherness’ track, another put her as an oversensitive empath who uses music to heal the pain of her people - and we all tend to agree on one point - Sona is an extremely empathetic person who uses her music for the good of others.
And as we waited, several other champions appeared, some of them overlapping with Sona’s music theme. Bard, the wanderer who listens to the songs of creation itself. Jhin, the murderous theater performer and assassin who believes the world his stage. Rakan, the battle dancer who uses the songs and rhythms of people to fight and move before they do. And Sona’s niche, what was unique about her, grew smaller and smaller.
Finally, we had something that felt unique about Sona.
Gameplay & Design:
Sona as a champion has existed a very long time... And is the aura and music champion. Her q does some damage, her w shields and heals ( and reduces damage with her passive ), and her e speeds people up ( and slows with her passive ), while her r is a rectangular ult wave - thinner than Nami’s, but still relatively wide. The kit as a whole is pretty simple, but it has a history.
Sona players are... innovators. They like to do things like buy Kirchei’s shard because it’s most efficient, or take Sona mid, top, jungle, and adc. And over the last two years, Sona has received nerf after nerf after nerf saying, “No, stay in the support role”. You can still pull off certain lanes, but it’s extremely difficult because her aura abilities give you mana back if you tag an ally... making them difficult to use in a solo lane, or to roam alone.
Also, as one of the older crew of champions ( pre Jinx when Riot started using other body types for women ), her figure is... well, she’s got an hourglass figure, and her dress does not hide her breasts much at all. And it’d been like this for ages and ages, which meant that in League’s toxic culture, being a Sona one-trick led to a variety of hateful comments which I won’t repeat here.
Sona has a history of being treated like either an overpowered support or a terrible one, in part because she lacks any form of CC before 6 ( barring her e chord passive ).
So if you’re a Sona enthusiast, a big part of you wants Sona to have agency and not just be a pretty face damsel in distress. Even I, who have a second blog where I write Sona as an extremely soft character, don’t have her be a damsel in that interpretation of her. This is made worse by the community and a lot of art that ships her with men who treat her badly, along with an endless slew of adult images that degrade her, and often make fun of her disability - that she can’t speak. It’s sad and it’s degrading. And even within the last few years, she was written in a story in the Odyssey skin line...  as a prize for Kayn to take. That is an official Riot story which essentially treated her like a prize to capture for Kayn’s own goals - not as a person, but as a carrier of a key, as an object, and she lacked agency. Thankfully over the last few years, Riot has started giving women more agency, but... it’s been a problem for a long time.
Recently, along with the lore rework, we got Sona in a skin that makes her look and feel like a badass - PsyOps, her legendary skin. She breaks free of her confines and rages against those in her way in a very Syndra-like fashion, uncaged. And this was very cool.
And now, we have Sona where she is now.
---------------------------------------------------
Seraphine as a champion has recently been revealed, along with her abilities and lore.
Narrative & Niche:
Seraphine’s lore is essentially this.
She, born of Zaunite parents, went up to Piltover. She was able to hear the souls and songs of people ( magical empath ) and hoped to unite those around her with her music. Then, she went down to Zaun, a city full of impoverished and disenfranchised peoples, to try and do the same thing.
In other words, “This champion uses music as a means of bringing people together. She aims to aid the disenfranchised.” There is nuance there, and it’s not the exact same as Sona, but the similarity is striking.
Furthermore, several key points in her lore are things that Sona writers have already imagined for themselves. A hypersensitivity to others, for example. Having such a strong sense of hearing that she can hear things others can’t. Sona is known to be able to essentially echolocate ( or at least, she had been known to do so in her older lore ).
I will admit that the idea of ‘hypersensitive hearing or empathy’ is not the sole domain of Sona writers. Athena Cykes of Ace Attorney has a similar problem ( as revealed in her backstory ). And similarly, she wore a special device to help her filter that out. It’s not a completely unique idea, but again - the problem is striking. Sona, a highly sensitive and empathetic person, was often interpreted to be too sensitive to others. And now it’s on Seraphine, in her lore.
Seraphine’s whole lore is that she’s essentially an extremely popular and famous musician who brings people together with music... and that’s what Sona was.
She was all those things.
So to some people ( myself included ) it feels as though Riot has reworked Sona’s lore so they can give some of the overlap to Seraphine. Empathy / soul-seeing ( a Morgana, Kayle, Neeko, and Sona special... ) and the whole music thing...
And this is leading people to say, repeatedly, “This is just Sona 2.0.”
For Sona enthusiasts who have been waiting for Sona to get content or lore for years and years, this feels like a slap in the face.
Gameplay & Design:
Seraphine’s abilities are as follows.
When she uses 3 abilities, her next ability is empowered with additional effects ( essentially repeating ). Her q does damage ( based on missing health ) and is a skillshot, her w shields and speeds up people ( and heals herself if she’s already shielded ), and her e slows people ( and roots if they’re already slowed ), while her R is a rectangular ult that charms those hit and makes them walk towards her briefly.
That’s really similar to Sona.
When Sona uses 3 abilities, her next auto-attack is empowered with additional effects. Her q does damage. Her w shields and heals people ( and reduces damage output from an enemy if her passive is up). And her e speeds allies up ( and slows an enemy if her passive is up ). And her R is a rectangular ult that stuns those hit and makes them dance in place.
The similarity is striking. Seraphine does lack the ability to heal allies ( on first glance, I may have misread ), but she looks extremely similar to Sona... which is a frustration.
This year, we got Yone, Yasuo’s brother. And the reasoning behind this, when most other champions are written to give unique inputs/outputs, is that this is an alternative choice for Yasuo players when Yasuo is banned and will improve game health.
However, I suspect the same logic does not hold for Sona and Seraphine. Sona is in a class of enchanters, where several champions can do things similar to what she does already ( with some differences, of course! ). If you can’t play Sona, you can play Karma, you can play Taric, etc - not the same, but similar. It’s my suspicion that with the introduction of Seraphine, we will instead have the problem of Akali/Diana several years ago - these champions are so similar that whichever one is stronger will be played while the other one will be ignored completely.
Furthermore, Seraphine got a lot of attention. A lot of attention. She has a fake twitter account.
And she is releasing with two skins, one of which is an ultimate. Release. For Sona players who only just got their legendary ( with the understanding that DJ Sona exists ), this feels like a slap in the face. It’s easy to feel overshadowed, and as much of the community is saying right now, this is ‘Sona 2.0′
Now some people are saying, ‘maybe Sona gets reworked’, but that will not be a great answer. If you like playing Sona’s current playstyle, swapping to Seraphine because Riot changed Sona completely will be alienating, and only exacerbate the feeling that Seraphine is replacing and overshadowing Sona.
But it gets a little worse than that too. Seraphine is designed for mid/support, to be played in both lanes. However, Sona enthusiasts have received nerf after nerf to Sona in other lanes, which only makes this hit that much harder. There’s a theory that Seraphine’s kit is essentially a scrapped Sona rework kit. If Seraphine’s build is the same as Sona’s, it will be... tragic. It will be disappointing...
And it’s already exhausting.
Neither Sona nor Seraphine enthusiasts are without the metaphorical gutpunch, and this is likely to divide the community even further. And heaven forbid you like both.
For Sona enthusiasts, this is a slap in the face. Our favorite champion being overshadowed and overhyped by another who gets so much on release, when we’ve longed for content for years is hurtful.
For Seraphine enthusiasts, this is a punch in the gut, for seeing their champion essentially be treated like a clone of another is unkind. Any nuance or effort put into Seraphine will be drowned underneath ‘Sona 2.0′. And the overlap between both champions and their respective abilities and character traits will wear anyone out.
And that’s not fair to anyone.
( Disclaimer: I wasn’t able to stay 100% unbiased, but if you read all of that, thank you. )

Three Ships:
Look despite being a terrible romance novelist I’m not a huge shipper and when I am it’s extremely niche. No, nicher than that.
1. Mako Mori x Raliegh Beckett
Look the main draw of PacRim (besides y’know all of it) is just how totally and completely (but not necessarily romantically) gone Raleigh is on Mako from the second he lays eyes on her, and how respectful of her authority and agency he is in that context. Also like, I either want to grow up to be her or to marry her, not picky, so like, I relate.
2. Selva x Alice
We were making Chaos Triangle jokes well before two thirds of it went canon, but go canon it did, and they’re stupid cute together, as well as being utter chaos. (Namesake is a Delight and you should go read it.)
3. The titular Ghost & Mrs. Muir
Shockingly I come to my enjoyment of bittersweet, somewhat tragic romance honestly. This ship has everything, ghosts, pining, enemies-to-lovers (sort of)... (The film from the 40s is better than the sitcom from the 60s, imo, because the film is a lot sharper on the bitter and less saccharine on the sweet (and also Gene Tierney is *extremely* pretty), but like, they’re both a good time.)
Last Songs Listened to:
‘Achilles Come Down’ by Gang of Youths, and my Get the Fuck to Work playlist, which is a random collection of extremely upbeat songs to prevent me from falling asleep at the wheel getting the fuck to work (admittedly less of a worry now that my shift doesn’t start at four fucking thirty), and also, because it is that time of year, ‘This Year’ by The Mountain Goats, though it’s the Shearwater cover, which I prefer to the original. Also I did my semi-annual ‘oh, it can’t have been that bad’ The Pirate Queen relisten and yeah, it is still that bad and I am still so mad about it.
Currently Watching:
Look if you haven’t guessed it’s Kingdom for like, the fifth time in a row I don’t know what to tell you. I have literally never run into something that so perfectly captures my very distinct tastes in zombie horror, high stakes political drama, and clothing-accurate period pieces, but this does all three beautifully at the same time with a side helping of ridiculous wuxia-style combat to top it all off, without devolving into either a weird sex thing or tipping out the other side and falling into gratuitous violence, dropped political plot threads, or catering to a modern audience who doesn’t know what they’re looking at. Also Seo-bi is there and I love her. This is both serious horror and, like, my go to comfort show I don’t know what to tell you.
Currently Reading:
...Mostly poetry, actually, which is somewhat unusual. Picked up Crush again, because Siken’s publishing again, thank god, and I am not in a place to enjoy Ruth Stone but I desperately want to be, so uh, that’s not going well, and my copy of the.... paired translation of Neruda (in that one page has the original Spanish and the other has the English translation) came in, and I do like this translator’s take on it, so that’s nice, and then, of course, it’s the time of year for Margaret Atwood and Mary Oliver and Ursula K LeGuin. Also I am reading God Stalk again and look, if you’ve never read God Stalk you should go do so immediately, it’s so good, I am begging you.
How’s it Going?
My dudes, I’m going to be honest here, I’m so stressed I’m physically falling apart, like I am on and off bleeding to death from various places and my bones hurt all the damn time, and to top it off I am *literally* losing my mind, like I haven’t lost this much time since the last time I tried to kill myself, and there is no light at the end of this tunnel, just a train running dark, and god am i looking forward to letting covid kill me.
Other than that though, can’t really complain. I’ve got a job, my family’s healthy, what more can I ask for?
Anyways, I have absolutely zero idea who’s been tagged so uh, if this is a rerun sorry. @thebluestofdaisies @violetutterances @sweetdreamr @brightoncemore

Hi! I’ve been a fan of your page for a while but I just now got my own account, do you have any tips for starting out? Because I’m lost 😅
Of course!
Use tags! When you make original content, tags are 90% of the way you get your work out there. Tag any fandom names (ex: sanders sides, thomas sanders) as well as characters or ships. BUT! Do NOT misuse the tag system and tag something that isn’t present in your work! This usually just annoys people.
Other uses of tags: you can tag reblogs of posts to organize them or comment on them. A lot of people (myself included) put comments in the tags so it doesn’t clog up the post. Don’t be afraid to comment directly on the post though, content creators love to see both!
This also means you should be checking the tags of people reblogging your work! If you’re using the pc version of tumblr, you can download xkit (I use a chrome extension) and get a plugin that allows you to read the tags in a group. You don’t need to do this, but it can be helpful.
Interact with other people! Whether by message, ask, or by continuing the idea of someone’s post, you can make good friends or bounce ideas off of each other. Lots of good things. Though, if you want to continue a post, please be sure to ask the op (original poster) if it’s okay!
Looking through a tag (ex: #sanders sides) can be a great way to find new content. You can also follow some tags so they’re easier to access and so some posts from them pop up on your dash. I pretty much stalk the sanders sides tag and there’s new content like, every day. This fandom is awesome at that haha
Use your blacklist! You can block both accounts and tags. (You can find the tag blacklist under general settings, I believe). Don’t like discourse? A certain ship? Have a trigger? Need to avoid spoilers? Maybe there’s just a popular trend for a character at the moment and you just need to block their tag for a bit. Feel free to block as much as you need, and trust me, you’ll feel a lot better when you don’t spend all your energy arguing or reading posts that make you feel bad. By blocking a tag, the post still shows up and displays what tags are on it. I have used the system before just to warn me about certain topics. And don’t be afraid about blocking users too. People aren’t notified when you do, and are unlikely to get offended about it.
Submissions and asks to your blog can be turned on/off, and you can turn on/off anons. You can also customize the messages for both. Use these features if you need a break or have a particularly hurtful (and cowardly) anon trying to bully you.
There’s a lot you can do to customize your blog including actually coding it yourself, but I don’t really have a lot of advice here since I just use the default setup. If you want to though, you can get by semi-easily by looking up tutorials with no coding knowledge.
Overall, just make sure you’re having fun. Tumblr is known for its broken website and less-than-friendly userbase, but if you find your niche I think it can be a pretty fun experience.

A Semi-Serious Approach to Updating Stories
Yesterday I was thinking to myself, "Hm, I sure have added a lot of new stories to AO3. How do I decide which one to update?" Sure, we could just do this by whichever one I feel like updating (a tried and true method), but what about those days when I can't decide? There must be another way! And so, I went back to the statistics page, a page I can only assume was designed with this kind of absurd breakdown in mind. I immediately decided kudos were not a good way of determining which story needs focus. Who knows which of these people are sticking around after all? Likewise, comments are not a good way to determine which story needs attention. This may sound surprising; who doesn't want to update the story that gets the most reviews? It is, after all, the most obvious encouragement. However, the downside is that you cannot depend on this. Neither love nor hate will make someone review if they don't feel like it, so the fickle nature of the review system is such that it cannot be used for this purpose. Bookmarks almost seemed like a good idea, but a ton of people don't bother bookmarking on the site; they use their browser's bookmarking feature instead. And so, that left only one option: How many people are subscribed to the story? I think this is actually a decent way of determining what needs updates. It's not a perfect method because some people are just subscribed to the author and not to specific stories, but it succeeds in one key feature: These people get updated about the story's existence, which means they are, in theory, invested. With this now ironclad logic, let's see what's at the top of the list! (Meta not included.) 1. Altus Investigations (Vanitas no Carte) - 34 2. Slithering through History (Good Omens) - 24 3. When the World Ends (X/1999) - 11 4. The Dark Wanderer (Vanitas no Carte) - 5 5. A Different Shade of Blue (Mass Effect) - 5 6. The Ubiquitous Storm (Vanitas no Carte) - 3 But we're not done yet. We must now consider the size of the fanbase. VNC is small, so the fact that Altus Investigations has so much definitely makes it the absolute winner in terms of popularity. However, Slithering through History is a Good Omens fic, an absolutely huge fanbase, so 24 subscriptions actually isn't that much. I'm going to say that puts it lower on the list than one might initially think. The real surprise here is When the World Ends at 11 subscriptions because X/1999 was always kind of niche, the fanbase is kind of dead, and the pairing, Subaru/Kamui, was not as popular as the main two ships. Therefore, I'm going to say this is tied at the top with Altus Investigations because it is beating all the odds here. While I personally believe The Dark Wanderer should have a lot more subscriptions (Who doesn't enjoy a Diablo AU?!), it's actually doing pretty well with 5 given, once again, the size of the fanbase and the unbelievably niche nature of what I have chosen to write about. XD A Different Shade of Blue is tied with it, but I'm not too sure how to read this. For now, I'm going to assume that, since Mass Effect is a bigger fanbase than VNC, it is lower in the rankings because of this. The Ubiquitous Storm is another puzzler. Three is okay given the size of the fanbase, but still lower than my other stories. Granted, both this story and A Different Shade of Blue are newer, so not as many people have had a chance to look at them anyway. I'm going to mark this one down as "semi-popular." All right, with this deliberation now over, let's look at how this reorders the list by priority! 1. Altus Investigations & When the World Ends 2. The Dark Wanderer & Slithering through History 3. The Ubiquitous Storm 4. A Different Shade of Blue Aaand, there you have it. A few are tied, but that's all right. It means their popularity levels are similar. It also means when I can't pick which story I want, probably one of the ones at the top will be chosen. (Note this does not mean stories at the bottom will be ignored because what I feel like writing will still override subscription popularity. This is, again, for those days indecision reigns.) Anyway, that was kind of fun. :D Now to get back to writing and to actually catch up on NaNoWriMo instead of, uh, looking at AO3 stats....

Susie legion
Give me a character and I will answer:
Why I like them: The concept of Legion is a super fun, engaging one, even if in practice it was kinda underwhelming. As a character, Susie as a kinda shy, naive hanger-on that got in so far over her head and is now struggling to stay a part of her gang, being forced to kill people when she isn’t even all the way grown up yet and definitely wouldn’t have chosen to in the first place-- that’s engaging.
Why I don’t: Hate how fandom infantilizes her at times. I tend to never specifically hate a character for how they’re shown in canon, unless the devs fuck it up (see: Doc, Julie’s tome), with some notable exceptions that I think have just been poorly conceived and written from the start (say, Mustafa Ali leading Retribution, also bc out of kayfabe he’s I think said he’s unhappy with it because he doesn’t want to be playing a villain; it makes no sense with his previously established character and he’s clearly not having a good time playing it, and Retribution is ALSO clearly thinly-veiled Antifa or whatever so we’re supposed to think they’re villains bc mr mcmahon is an old fuck), and at that point it’s not even hatred for the character themselves; I fucking HATE Freddy but can’t deny that he’s a PHENOMENAL villain and the visceral, passionate hatred I have for him makes me root against him and for the heroes, and I love seeing him get what’s coming to him. In wrestling terms, that’s called heat, and it’s a good thing and good villains should be able to generate heat. After Doc’s tome, I’m like a skittish feral animal, I don’t trust them to not wreck him further-- they took a great fckn villain and decided to depart entirely from one trope onto another, which would be fine, if they had introduced an entirely new character to fill the niche! The emotion I feel toward tome-Doc is, in wrestling, “go away heat”, which is a bad kind of heat bc the audience doesn’t want to SEE the villain, doesn’t want to watch them get beat up even, they just want them to go away and for the story to continue. I feel this way toward say, Thanos too btw, purely because of how he was portrayed by the writers. A good writer can take a mediocre, C-list character and elevate them to godlike status (Kite Man. F*** yeah Kite man) and writers who don’t care, don’t know the character, have an alternate agenda, or just... don’t have time or energy to do a character justice can cause a fandom to lose interest in a character entirely. I’m sure there’s a way to make me interested in Thanos. Apologia for his abuse and shitty actions throughout an entire series of movies is not the way to do that.
ANYWAY BACK TO SUSIE. Her Lunar New Year skin is a prime example of me losing interest in the canon direction of a character. It contradicts her original lore and the characterization set forth there. If we’re to assume that these skins are legitimate/”real”, which people are totally allowed to do, it paints a very different picture of Susie.
Thank god for fic that rehabilitates her tho (ILM by @ziracona does a good job of portraying a semi-adult Susie who still has some kidlike attributes, bc ofc she’s the baby of the gang).
Favorite episode (scene if movie): N/A
Favorite season/movie: Darkness Among Us bc devs hadn’t fucked her up at that point
Favorite line: DbD does not have voice lines sadly but I love her stun noise lol
Favorite outfit: IDK I don’t play Susie. The new Chimeric Horde Blight skin is SICK though, it’s visually striking and elicits so much pathos, and I do like her default skin bc it’s unapologetically cute. Can’t kill survivors if you aren’t feelin cute.
OTP: No OTPS here unfortunately, I’m not super into shipping Susie with anyone. Susie/Meg is kinda cute tho
Brotp: Susie/Julie is super cute.
Head Canon: Susie likes wrestling. Big Diva stan if I’ve ever seen one; what’s more fun than curling up on the couch and watching pretty ladies toss each other across a ring? Gay awakening. Made her realize she had a crush on Julie bc one of the divas looked kinda similar to Julie.
Unpopular opinion: IDK see what I hate. People who like the new lore are entitled to that and I’m glad there’s someone out there pulling for it, but it’s just personally not for me.
A wish: I wish people would stop being weird about her and start being weird about Deathslinger instead
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: BHVR please stop contradicting your own lore
5 words to best describe them: Shy, fawning, playful, affectionate, naive
My nickname for them: Miss Susie Legion/Miss Susie/Susan
