terushima is constantly texting misaki ominous updates like "it's okay nobody got arrested yet!!" or "dw the gym is NOT on fire and that's what counts" and misaki gets a year taken off her life every single time

the day terushima showed up to practice with a tongue piercing was the day okudake decided to retire as early as possible as captain

roommates/same college au with captain squad drabble

summary: the roomies watch moana together.

It was Bokuto’s turn to choose the movie for their weekly movie night, and everyone was skeptical. They were used to Oikawa’s shitty taste in alien documentaries, or Ushijima’s bland historical adaptations. Moniwa loves a good rom-com, while Kuroo prefers sci-fi. Okudake and Sawamura stick to superhero movies with action and not a lot of gore. Daishou isn’t allowed to pick after choosing Anaconda three times in a row. Bokuto, however, is... unpredictable. One week, he’ll choose Shrek, the next he’ll choose Pacific Rim and then the next week he’s choosing Stephen King’s IT, giving everyone nightmares for weeks! (Not to mention how he refused to shower alone for six days) So, to say that all the roommates were worried, would be an understatement.

“Kou-chan~” Oikawa began, taking a seat on the couch, wrapped up in a fluffy aqua snuggie, “Are you going to tell us your recommendation? Or is it a surprise?” “There better not be any clowns.” Moniwa shivered at the memories, passing out bowls of his infamous chocolate-drizzled popcorn and chex mix. “No clowns! No ogres! No aliens!” Bokuto promised, grabbing the remote and crashing next to Sawamura. “I call dibs!” “No! You cuddled with Sawamura last week! It’s my turn.” Kuroo protested, doing his best to wedge himself between Daichi and Bokuto. “No fair! MOMiwa? OkuDADke? Help me out here.” Bokuto whined. Moniwa, who sat on the floor with Ushijima, turned to look at Okudake, who sat in a single recliner off to the side. “Bokuto, share Sawamura.” Okudake voiced, causing Bokuto to pout heavily. “Why did no one ask my preference for a cuddle partner?” Sawamura questioned, stealing the bottom of Oikawa’s snuggie to cover his legs as he rested his head on Kuroo’s shoulder, reaching into Kuroo’s bowl for a snack instead of his own. “I think your choice is pretty obvious, Sawacchi.” Oikawa teased, moving to toss his legs over Sawamura’s. “Where’s Daishou? We should start the movie now.” Moniwa glanced at Ushijima’s wrist watch before pulling a lollipop out of thin air, handing it to Bokuto and instantly cheering him up. “Hey hey hey~” Bokuto hooted, ripping off the wrapper and placing the cherry flavored candy into his mouth. “I’m here, I’m here.” Daishou announced, crashing at Okudake’s feet, a bag of kale chips in his hands.   “Why are you eating that?” Sawamura asked, scrunching his nose up in disgust. “Some of us do care about our calorie intake.” “Daishou, play nice.” Okudake scolded lightly. “Ssh! The movie is starting!” Bokuto exclaimed, pressing play on the remote.

“Moana?” Moniwa questioned as the opening credits began. “I don’t think I’ve heard of it.” Ushijima revealed. “Well, I haven’t heard of it, first!” Oikawa mocked, sticking his tongue out at the back of Ushijima’s head, since the other boy was intently focused on the screen. “What kind of Uncle are you? Every kid talked about this movie when it came out.” Kuroo informed, “I took Yamamoto, Lev, and Kenma to see it.” “Hinata wouldn’t stop singing ‘How Far I’ll Go’ after taking his sister to see it.” Sawamura shared, “Heard it’s a great movie.” “Can you all stop talking? This scene is important!” Bokuto complained.

Everyone quieted down, watching the movie contently. “The parents should really keep a closer eye on their child.” Ushijima suddenly announced as a baby Moana began to collect seashells on the beach. “What if she drowns?” “Ushiwaka! The sea is literally making a path for her?” Kuroo pointed out at the same time Bokuto spoiled the plot, “Can’t you see!? She’s obviously chosen by the sea to return Te Fiti’s heart!”

“Bokuto! Come on!” Daishou complained.   “Yeah, Kou-chan! Don’t spoil the entire movie!” “Everyone who’s seen the trailer knows that though!” Kuroo argued. “Okay, everyone, settle down.” Moniwa tried to play peacemaker. “Let’s just enjoy the movie.”

The silence lasted only a few more seconds, before the song ‘Where You Are’ began to play, with Bokuto singing along enthusiastically and Kuroo humming along quietly. Daishou sighed dramatically. “Moniwa, please! I refuse to watch this any longer if they’re just going to sing along and annoy everyone the entire time!” “Don’t be such a party-pooper, snake dude!” Bokuto called out, standing up abruptly and causing popcorn to spill from his bowl. “Bokuto, please sit down.” Okudake demanded, “Or you’ll lose a star on the Good Boy Chart.”  “He started it!” Bokuto pointed at Daishou, who just rolled his eyes in response. “Koutarou, it’s fine. Just sit down and enjoy the movie quietly.” Moniwa pleaded. If they kept this up, it would be a long hour and 40 minutes.

have some haikyuu 3rd year captains in a same high school au:

okay, so as a disclaimer i will have them not play volleyball in this, okay? an abomination, i know so yeah… here we go

so say that they’re in an exclusive boys school and they all belong in the same class, so they’re classmates, but their group was formed because they kind of know a person or another, outside of the school

like bokuto and kuroo are childhood friends, who are neighbors with daishou, who happened to go to the same middle school as okudake, who is neighbors with oikawa who went to summer camps with ushijima, when they were children, an event annually sponsored by nakashima’s family, who are like business partners of sawamura’s family, who also delivers ingredients to moniwa’s family restaurant, who is next door neighbors to akimiya’s family flower shop. yeah.

in their group there are different designations, so to speak, like, you have the team dad made up by sawamura and okudake, with ushijima as an honorary member

of course you’ll have the team mom, which are composed of moniwa, akimiya and nakashima is an honorary member

(honorary because it's only in the absence of the first two would they take up the mantle)

(but ushijima mostly likes to keep to himself, and nakashima is sort of a floater that is happy to join whichever cause he feels like it)

then they have the wayward children in the form of the Formidable Four: bokuto, kuroo, oikawa, and daishou

of course, the main troublemakers are kuroo and bokuto, who are always ‘responsible’ for the different shenanigans the group members get into

you also have the team Salt&Sass ™ which, you guessed it, formed by oikawa and daishou, and its a miracle that they dont drag each other or are not actual enemies, but their cat fights could get nasty, and no one really wants to deal with that except maybe kuroo 

(only for a chance to drag the both of them because hey, killing two birds with one stone, the cat gets the canary)

so like he’s an honorary member or something. yeah

it’s universally accepted that moniwa, akimiya, and bokuto must be protected at all costs. PROTECT AKIMIYA AND HIS AHOGE AT ALL COSTS.

so because of that, kuroo is actually one with sawamura and okudake, and they just want to rest.

but hey, big groups of friends are fun, but the most unlikely friendships formed were between ushijima and moniwa (a certain 7 minutes in heaven game instigated by the Formidable Four may have been the culprit)

daishou has all but adopted akimiya, and he will fight, and drag to hell and back those who would lay even a nasty pinky finger on him

oikawa baptized okudake as ‘the ushijima that i can more or less stand’

and bokuto is just so happy to have nakashima understand, and out of all of them, he’s pretty much the only one who can match his energetic nature

(kuroo is good for ideas, but he’s physically weak af and he would rather hangout in the lab than outside)

and since they don’t necessarily play volleyball in this, have some sport swap/respective electives/clubs AU: 

daichi - archery; okudake - baseball; nakashima - track and field; ushijima - kendo; bokuto - karate

kuroo (the nerd) - advance classes in chemistry; daishou - writer for the school paper; moniwa - wind music; akimiya - painting; oikawa - theater

and yeah, they are each other’s cheerleaders, like they make it a point to watch the games as much as they can, and support scientific presentations, recitals, and exhibits, and shows, and trust that they more or less have a section dedicated to them in the school newspaper.

overall its a riot, but its family and its fun and as much as they want to throw each other outside of a moving car on occasion, they would make sure to cushion the fall

(not that they would admit it out loud even when tortured)

okay sooooo. word vomit , headcanon ramble about terushima’s relationship with the past captain of johzenji ,  seiji okudake!  so i mentioned in my earlier headcanon that i posted today that terushima getting involved with volleyball was by chance ! 

seiji’s terushima’s complete opposite ( this is just my thoughts lmao don’t hold me to this ). he’s serious , hardworking , dedicated. at the time , terushima was none of those things unless it benefited. he was more IN DEEP with his rebellious phase. his first year of high school he dyed his hair before the first term started. he also got his tongue & ears pierced by a friend. he wanted to be a complete & utter culture shock. which he was ! people automatically made assumptions about his delinquency. & while it’s true that terushima’s not going to back down from a fight , he’s not really all that much of a delinquent. 

a lot of it is for show. & a lot of it is terushima adhering ( unconsciously ) to the psychological / social concept : the labeling theory. now the labeling theory , in essence , is when a person subscribes to the stereotypes or notions of their behavior. they basically FULFILL what people assume about them to be true. terushima was TREATED as a delinquent. & sometimes he found it easier to become that. especially because he was so dedicated to driving his parents up a wall. to get them to notice him outside of “be a good student” and “you’re a successor to this company & no son of mine will ever be a failure” 

also , because people assumed terushima to be a delinquent , a lot of their actions towards him became a self-fulfilling prophecy to the assumption. people looked at him warily. people were afraid to talk to him. guys from other schools picked fights with him. rumors spread about his party boy ways & his fighting being reckless & beast like. & yeah , terushima was a party boy. he knew there was some truth to the rumors. some fire to the smoke. but it’s not all he is. & it’s not all he’ll ever be. & somehow , in the plan of fucking over his parents , he lost sight of who he was & what the world was telling him. 

in comes seiji. seiji was different from the rest. he didn’t see terushima as the rumors painted him. he saw someone who needed a chance to find a passion. terushima was hounded night & day after his first practice to join the team. seiji would stop in his class. would buy him lunch ( weiner pan ). would show him videos of volleyball matches of other teams, hoping to get his interest. & when terushima finally asks why. seiji says: “because it’ll be fun. and i think you’d be good at it”. it’s like, mad simple ? and it resonates with terushima. 

so then he joins the team. and he’s weird at first because he’s never been in an organized sport before. bobata joins the team too. because ride or dies. & then seiji kinda becomes his dad friend ? who makes sure he’s going to classes proerply so he can maintain good grades & stay on the team. terushima opens up to him about his parents. he looks up to seiji but he doesn’t try to shed his delinquent label. not because he likes it , but rather he stopped caring because seiji saw the real him through all the smoke and mirrors : just a boy trying to be himself , find himself , & have fun because it’s a delicacy for him. a rarity. seiji tells terushima that he can have his fun on the court , but that sometimes there are going to be moments when it’s not fun. 

& fast forwarding to the karasuno match , it’s a lesson that makes teru grow up as well when he goes into his third year. because his senpai’s words finally clicked. & he realizes that while it’s good to have fun , he also wants to do better. he also wants to show that johzenji can be a powerhouse. that they can be killer. & he wants to make his senpai proud in that. respect. if that makes sense ?

idk his senpai just helped him realize a lot of things and was the start of something good for. terushima. okay bye.

Oh my god, love the blog already! How about Yamaguchi in Johzenji?

Thank you! I’m really glad to hear that. I had to go sleep on this one, this was tricky.

Yamaguchi Tadashi in Johzenji (1st Year)

When Yamaguchi first stepped into the gym, he was confused. Was this a party being held for something, where were all the volleyballs or even the nets.

He was reassured by the current Captain, Okudake Seiji, that yes, this was normal, everything is fine, are you sure you still want to join.

Yamaguchi still joined, despite the chaotic practices and teammates. 

He gets along pretty well with Misaki and the 3rd Years, who were much more tame than the 2nd years.

Although, Terushima often drags Yamaguchi into various incidents. He’s gotten into trouble by association.

Practice was hectic, he’d never gone through anything like the 2vs2 matches. He gets much better a receiving and picks up little tricks from everyone else- everything from making receives easier to keeping in mind that nothing was set in stone beyond the rules of volleyball.

Yamaguchi had to relearn to not just receive with his arms but with his legs and even his head at one practice.

Okudake has half the mind to make Yamaguchi the Vice-captain seeing as he doesn’t get carried away with the 2nd year’s carefreeness

By the Interhigh Preliminaries, Yamaguchi had adapted to this strange and inconsistent strategy. He was slotted to play in a couple of matches

He’s classmates with Kuribayashi Runa, and once she joined as a manager, the two of them often worry about the team together. Misaki joins their chats about the team sometimes, venting about their headache of a team and sharing stories. 

Yamaguchi stays in contact with Tsukishima though texts, though the two of them occasionally meet up. 

Okudake and Misaki often worry about Yamaguchi and a pity him a bit for having to deal with the 2nd years mostly by himself.

Yamaguchi has needed to apologize for them, especially Terushima.

He ended up giving Terushima a lecture one day

Let’s just say all the 2nd years have a good amount of respect for this 1st Year that they had not expected much out of when he first joined.
