Anyway thinking about how I got accused of cultural appropriation a couple years ago because I’m actively learning Japanese and also about how my parents are seriously downsizing their belongings and so they’re giving me all of their Japanese stuff including the kimonos and wall scrolls and swords and kamidana which I’ll have to figure out where to put in my own house which also means the background of all my dog photos inside of my house is about to look real fucking Japanese.

And I’ll probably get like three asks a day accusing me of being a weeb and I’ll have to continuously explain that, no, we were a host family for a rural Japanese school exchange program throughout the 90s and early 2000s and this is just a portion of the stuff given to us both by the school and by the families of the various girls we had living with us over the years. Because there’s enough stuff to fill the entire attic and a large portion of my parents’ living room and they’re tired of storing it but know it’s valuable and that they have a kid that actually wants it so it’s coming to my house. Like they gave us each multiple sets of kimonos over the years and it’s a family of 5 so you can expect that takes up a shitton of space by itself.

#honestly the thing I want most is probably the swords #the kamidana #and that marble/onyx chess set where the king is the shogun and the knights are samurai etc #I have my little wakizashi but dad was given a set of three katanas #they've been sitting in the attic rusting for literal decades so #the kimonos while nice will probably remain display only #they're all girl kimonos except dad's which are VERY not my size lmao #and I don't really have much of a reason to wear them besides #somewhere in my family's photo albums you'll find baby Jaz running around in one when the girls were at the house #he's got a gold arrow where the arrowhead is the crest of the school somewhere too #that'll go on my bookshelf with my wakizashi

Homeschool genuinely sucks. For me at least, i cannot do things by myself, no matter how hard i try. I can’t fucking sit there in a zoom meeting for 30 minutes feeling like a fucking child. I spend all my time on things that won’t help me in life, if i don’t go to public school, im basically screwed to ever get a job or get into college. I’m struggling to even do MATH. I can’t write in cursive, i can’t do half my times table of the top of my head, and i can’t fucking focus for the life of me. And I’m stuck like this unless my parents will help me, or put me in public school for the rest of my school years.

don’t get me wrong, i loved homeschool, it’s great and i get to do more things i wouldn’t be able to, but I’m already spending hours upon hours in an office WITH my parents, who tell me to do my math on occasion, but aren’t available to help all the way through. So I’m left doing meaningless hobbies that won’t help me be structured in life when I’m an adult. If i don’t start now, I’m going to end up struggling to pay bills and do literally anything. All because i can’t do my education.

i was placed on academic probation because my GPA last semester was a 0.067

(for anyone who doesn’t know what a GPA is, on a grading scale of 4 to 0 with 4 being pass and 0 being fail. i managed to get 0.067)

long story short if i fail this semester they will make me take a break for at least one semester…

To celebrate the birthday of Akko from Little Witch Academia, I'll make a short post about how she shaped one of the Archetypes from our upcoming magical school game They Came From Witchford Academy!

Specifically, as revealed during Onyx Path Con this month, she was one of the core inspirations for the Enthusiast Archetype (which is among the 2 out of 5 we revealed!)

The Enthusiast is all about passionate characters who adore everything about magic. They love spells, they love witchy attire, brooms, magical classes...the whole deal.

They love magic despite everything, even if they're not necessarily as good as others Archetypes when it comes to talent or prestige.

And their passion shines through, inspiring others, making them lovable even when they fail, and ensuring Magic itself loves them back. Even when faced with hardships and shortcomings, the Enthusiasts keep going.

Pure Akko!

Although she's not the only main inspiration I used when writing the Archetype, she sure is a central one.

Want to hear about some of the others?

Luz is another central Enthusiast inspiration. She kept going, pursuing her dream of becoming a witch no matter what. And her determination & sincerity earned her plenty of friends.

Coco from Witch Atelier also left a big impression on Enthusiasts. Coco loves magic and mages. Everything about magic talks to her heart, even when confronted with how the world she lives isn't as gentle as she imagined.

Then there's Frieren. Akko, Luz, and Coco arguably were my main core (although, as fitting for an Archetypes, the Enthusiast resonates to the whole genre), but Frieren appears there too.

Frieren arguably was more important for another Archetype we didn't reveal yet, but I didn't forget her sheer love for learning new spells just for the sake of it.

I hope you found this bit interesting! Odds are I'll talk about They Came from Witchford Academy! more and more as development advances, but this felt like a perfect occasion to discuss the Enthusiast!

as someone who was literally bullied the ENTIRE time i was in public school, i can vouch it sucks fucking ass, i would not wish that upon anyone. (Scratch that, wouldn’t wish that upon anyone but one person) anytime i see someone say “bring back bullying” it makes my blood boil because i almost attempted a few times and also got deeper into a sh addiction, which added onto the repetitive trauma that made our system form in this first place :’) i struggled so bad in school just because of bullying alone. And we all know the public school system sucks! So i did not get any help. It was only until middle school did things get done, but barely anything changed. I got a ‘restraining order’ (not exactly, but it’s basically what it is) against a kid, but that was one out of probably 10 people who were actively teasing and bullying me. (Or straight up harassing me) so that the reason I’m homeschooled. Not because i was to weak or sensitive to handle some good bullying. It did not make me stronger, it did not make me a better person, it did not make me ‘normal’. Bullying does NOTHING to change someone positively. I’m now trying to work through all that, years on top of YEARS of constant bullying. But yeah! It made me stronger! Totally.

Wizard101 names are really funny because you have the most “????” names alongside the most traditional to a point that they’re boring names, but then you don’t have names that are genuinely common like Damien

Also because they don’t have a gender-neutral wizard (or the ability to give a wizard any name regardless of gender) occasionally they’ll have truely neutral names assigned strictly to a gender, specifically I’m referring to “Angel” and “Calamity”

#like angel is a 'you can use it for both but it's odd that it's not an option for girl's names because it's more common as a fem name' #with Calamity it's like 'everyone with that name is trans and 80% of them are nonbinary' #also you'd think names like Ruby Onyx Citrine etc would be common names in the wizard101 universe #both for trans wizards (can choose based off their school) but also for like. wizard parents #like wizard parents that want a storm wizard naming their child Amethyst #then being so so so disappointed when they grow up to be a myth wizard
