Suddenly decided it's time for my next... headcanon? theory? hot take? post, unsure which one this falls under

So the Shadow can seem pretty arbitrary considering everything we hear about it doing with Agrippa, Weyer, Alexander, Daniel, Tasi, and not showing up for Oswald at all. It's like. What is this thing's deal? Why does it do certain things sometimes and other times it doesn't? I wondered this myself for a long time, then I replayed TDD and there was a line of Agrippa's that made everything make sense

He talks about how different Orbs react differently to being touched by someone who's uninitiated, and then says this, "I was lucky. The Orb I found spared my life and returned to where I found it."

That was a big "Oooohhhh!!" moment for me. The Shadow doesn't have any consciousness or will of its own - it's the Orbs that do! The Shadow is just "the universe catching up with itself," an entirely dependent entity an Orb can summon and control only if it so chooses. And each Orb seems to have a different "personality," if you will

The biggest evidence for this is the entirety of AMFP obviously, but even in TDD you can see it pretty clearly if you compare Agrippa's discovery of an Orb with Daniel's discovery of an Orb -

"As I entered the underground chamber I could feel that I was trespassing. Because of my curiosity I did my best to fight these instincts and fetched the orb from its place. I scrambled out of the chamber and into the woods. I could sense something was following me, it bayed loudly as it closed in." The moment Agrippa sets foot in the Orb Chamber he immediately feels that he is not supposed to be there, and the moment he leaves it the Shadow is after him. This Orb did not want to be retrieved by him, but as Agrippa said, saw fit to spare him instead of having him killed

"I fell to the ground gasping for air, trying to focus. That's when I saw a faint blue shimmer. My weakened body was heavy to carry, but I managed to push myself towards the enchanting light. It was waiting for me. Enclosed in dark nothingness, I felt myself drawn to the mystic light." Daniel has almost an entirely opposite experience than Agrippa. He doesn't know the Orb is there and isn't searching for it - it reveals itself to him in his moment of need. Rather than feeling like a trespasser, Daniel feels invited in by the Orb. When he touches it, he's "spirited away" instead of having the Shadow set on him. My brother pointed out that Daniel was suffocating in the chamber, and the Orb kept him in the Other World, where time passes faster, until the others had broken in to get Daniel out. It seems it was trying to save his life.

Also much unlike Agrippa, and even unlike Herbert, Daniel never sees the Shadow at all after touching the Orb. It's not until Daniel falls headlong off a ship into the middle of the ocean that Daniel first encounters and is lifted out of the water by this unseen force. Once again, not trying to hurt Daniel, trying to save him. Agrippa is instantly hunted by the Shadow, and the Shadow torments Herbert and his men before closing in a very short amount of time after Herbert finds his Orb. It should also be noted that both Agrippa and Herbert had their Orbs reclaimed from them by the Shadow - Daniel only had himself reclaimed from the water lol

And now for the dreams. I often see people say that this is the Shadow trying to communicate with Daniel. But listen here to how Daniel describes his nightmares:

"As I write my thoughts are drawn to my nightmares in which a most disturbing sound calls to me. A sound defying description, a voice from the void."

We hear some similar language used by Oswald, who never encounters the Shadow but does intimately communicate with his Orb:

"I can only hear the voice from within that gentlest of stones. It sings to me and I dream of a great machine." (There's also a line of dialogue in-game where Oswald mentions the voice from the void part but I can't remember it right now)

Daniel is also communicated to in a dream that teaches him how to make something:

"I was awakened by an exhausting nightmare. Shaking and sweating I retired to the drawing room with a cup of tea. The relic pieces lay spread across the table as I'd left them. But somehow, I knew how it was supposed to be."

Rather than the Shadow, it's Daniel's Orb that's trying to communicate with him in these dreams

Sort of a side note but it's obviously very interesting that Daniel is able to mend Orbs, something that surprises Agrippa when Daniel says he can do it, and something that Alexander never attempted with all the long time he had Agrippa's Orb for. In all likelihood Daniel is the first and maybe only person in either world who's ever been able to do this

Anyway, it's already been said before about how the Shadow is clearly not after Daniel. He was in London for a month without ever encountering it. The night he mends the Orb is the very night that Sir William Smith is killed, someone who Daniel spoke to about the Orb pieces he had. Prof. Taylor, who Daniel asked about Mithraism, is also killed shortly after, and Dr. Tate who seems to have nothing to do with this except that Daniel wanted sedatives from him to stop the nightmares, which is how the Orb is communicating with him. I still like to point it out during all this because I think it helps to back up the fact that Daniel, like Oswald, has an Orb that likes him and in its own way is trying to help him

Another interesting thing is how the Orbs seem to sort of communicate with each other. Daniel has an Orb that is very nice to him, but Agrippa's Orb (which did not treat Agrippa very well) is also nice to Daniel. Daniel's own Orb has got some opinions about people. While it's nice to Daniel, it immediately summons the Shadow when used by Alexander, and even turns against Daniel when Daniel assists Agrippa, who we know is not liked by his Orb (also turns on him if he lets Alexander go through)

Tasi's Orb seems to be pretty neutral. It's just trying to get itself back to the Other World, where it's supposed to be. The Shadow never kills Tasi, it only tries to prevent her from leaving the Other World and takes her back there whenever she makes it to earth. Her Orb just wants to go home

Last note about all this: Those who can control the Orbs can control the Shadow. The only example we have of this really (besides some implications about Temaku in Rebirth) is that Weyer, who is known to have complete mastery over the Orbs, is able to get the Shadow to spit Daniel out when it consumes him

All of this is to say that the Shadow is more like a shared defense system that the Orbs can call down upon someone they don't like or that they deem "unworthy." The Orbs are what have consciousness, personality, and decision-making capabilities

ichiro - an improvement. i like that it's very true to his og outfit and i think it looks better with just red (rather than the red + blue), plus that weird white undershirt that i always hated is gone <3

jiro - BB YOU LOOK SOOO GOOD it's a p small change but i like it, i like the hoodie more than his prev jacket and i love that they kept his stupid nonfunctional flannel <3 but most importantly the HAIR AHHHH im OBSESSED WITH PONYTAIL JIRO. the only small thing i dislike is the lack of hat </3 rip jiros hat (2017-2023) you will always be remembered

saburo - i liked his overcoat from his prev outfit so this fit is a bit of a downgrade for me :[[ he still looks good though and v true to his character so i dont mind too much

samatoki - oh thank fucking god, an outfit worthy of his hotness. ive been mourning tdd samatoki ever since i knew of him and this blue leather jacket is SUCH a good look, and we didnt even have to sacrifice his tits out shirt. it's perfect

jyuto - good!! he looks hot as he should. the red gloves were iconic and will be missed but overall i think i like his new outfit better, it's a little less stuffy looking

rio - an upgrade bc he looks somewhat more like an integrated member of society and less like a permanent navy seal. i like that he got to keep his camo but also wear some normal-ish clothes

ramuda - this seems...p much the same except the jacket changed and he has a hat now? i think its a hat? i dont like the hat. the jacket looks good and i understand why its yellow but... i miss the turquoise... the turquoise and pink was iconic... :[ overall not bad but miss the old 'fit for sure

gentaro - idk i dont look at gentaro enough to know what exactly changed but he looks fancier. i guess he looks better? idk and idrc sorry

dice - SOOOO GOOD. like took all the essence of his og design but makes him look less homeless bc what was that trench coat. he looks so stylish im obsessed

jakurai - idrc about him but i think this outfit is def an improvement bc theres a bit more flair beyond just 'i am a doctor'

Done with notes for Justine and Machine for Pigs - a few thoughts:

1. The ending chase in Justine with Malo still terrifies me. Damn you water sections 🥲

2. I wish we had more info on the star shaped soapstone and its significance. Justine's father having one and one being mentioned in two of the Remember short stories means something, but there's almost nothing actually said about what they do lol.

3. I don't know HOW I never noticed until this playthrough but Oswald killed Edwin and Enoch IN Mexico and only brought their skulls back to London which is...odd, since the journal entries we find WRITTEN by Edwin and Enoch do not fit the timeline now as they should already have been long dead but I don't think this is an oversight because if it is it's a MASSIVE one lmao.

4. On if Oswald's great-uncle is Daniel or Alexander, it really seems like the game wants to push that it's Alexander but I can't for the life of me make sense of how. Alexander can't be an uncle of any kind if he has no siblings in this world and I saw someone posit that maybe he married into the Mandus family for nobility reasons but I don't think that's it. The Mandus meat company opened in 1828, meaning that by 1839 I DOUBT they were well off enough to marry a daughter off to a Prussian baron considerimg their family started as simple butchers lol. Plus, it's said in Dark Descent specifically that its presumed the baron DOES have a wife and heirs but no one has ever seen them, which I took to mean they don't actually exist and Alexander only claims they do to keep up appearances. Now, Daniel being the great-uncle makes much more sense. He has a sister, Hazel, that we know of and considering that it's highly hinted Daniel was raised in a lower-middle class family, with his father being an artisan of some kind - possibly something involving dying or painting - its far more possible for Hazel to marry into a family of butchers that wind up making a fortune for themselves that Oswald can inherit by the 1880s-90s, than it is for Alexander to marry into a family like that, as it would provide nothing for him nobility wise, but is a decent marriage prospect for Hazel. Also, in every ending in TDD Alexander either dies or goes through the portal. How would Oswald know about him? I guess unless the Machine/Orb showed him that as a vision too, but the way Oswald talks about him is with some sense of familiarity I feel, not as though he only learned of him in the past year. There's a 60 year difference between the first and second game, and if we make Daniel even as old as he's likely to possibly be in 1839, say 25, then by 1899 he would have been 85. Not unreasonable lol, and even if he didn't live THAT long, it's still possible Oswald knew him before he passed, or even knew Hazel if she wound up living to adulthood as by 1899, she would only be 75. Daniel survives in two of the original endings, one walking away from the castle and one ascending to some higher plane. Oswald says he can smell his great-uncles prescence in the Orb, which may hint to the latter ending being the canon one. But if this is the case it opens a lot more questions, - when don't these games lol? - like, did Daniel come back from that other plane and live a 'normal' life while also deepening his knowledge of the Orbs? I can't imagine he would have wanted to leave Hazel behind forever. Did Oswald speak with his great-uncle after having his visions? It's not terribly well explained how he gained knowledge of vitae which he specifically knows of from tales of Brennenburg, or got the body of the servant grunt straight up shipped to him lmao. I just.....it doesn't make sense for his great-uncle to be Alexander imo but if it's DANIEL then I have a lot of questions lmao.

(regarding ur response to an ask about assasin jakurai, tw for slight mention of killing) wasnt there a BAT chapter about hitoya and jakurai's past together when jakurai briefly considered murdering the dude who bullied hitoya's brother? it would be weird of the hypmic writing team to have added that in with jakurai's assasin past being retconned, unless they wrote that before they decided to remove it

His bio says “He is a genius doctor, once under contract to eliminate terrorists…” I know exactly which chapter you’re talking about! I think the only way it works is if that was a reference to when Jakurai was a war doctor and he was an ‘assassin’ that was part of a military team that eliminated terrorists for the 3 years he was there.

Maybe I’m wrong, maybe he’s still technically an assassin, but the way they made it seem in the FP/M manga vs the new FP/M+ is totally different which is what throws me off. The old one made it seem like he was a well known literal assassin for many years. Maybe the assassin part is still canon but now it’s just not being focused on as much in favor of his redemption?

@hypmic-theories-and-rants did a cool breakdown of Jakurai right here and it makes the most sense. The main problem is that since this post, FP/M+ manga has shown us that Jakurai went off to be a war doctor at age 20, BEFORE he finished his undergrad. This means that when he came back he had to complete not only his undergraduate, but also his PhD and his residency. Med School is insanely difficult to do when it’s the only thing your focusing on but we’re supposed to believe he did an assassin job on top of that??

The new manga also has such a short timeline like did people forget it takes 10+ years to become a doctor? Like even if he had 2 years of undergrad under his belt before leaving for the war (18-20) he came back at 23 and so then he’d take another 2 years to finish undergrad (25) and 4 years for medical school (29) and then let’s say the minimum 3 years of residency (32) even though residency can take up to 7 years. This means Jakurai JUST finished all of his studies right before TDD manga where he’s 33. Even if the war years counted towards his undergrad, that would put him at 30 when he finally gets to practice medicine solo. God forbid he wants to be a specialist that would take another 4 years!

I get he’s a genius but even then, unless he skipped some years which is pretty much impossible because despite your skill level medicine is one of the most rigorous paths that has specific rules and guidelines you need to follow to become certified. It’s silly to think he could become an expert assassin with a 100% kill rate as well as have a reputation of a brilliant doctor when he was in school literally the whole time and doctors work 24-48 hour shifts (unless they’re specialists which we’ve already said would be impossible in this timeline) so how is Jakurai doing both??

Also, please remember that everything on this blog is my own opinion and nothing I say or write is canon lol I can 100% be wrong about things so please don’t ever take my word hypmic lore 😅

Hmm, that's a good theory too! However, I don't think Ramuda is sensitive about his height. He usually voices his displeasure for the things that do bother him, especially when alone, but he's never made any comment that indicates he finds his stature annoying. If anything, he probably enjoys being smaller than most of the cast members because it means he can fling himself on them easier. Judging by how he acts around TDD and Fling Posse, he seems to genuinely enjoy physical affection a lot.

he certainly did pick up the semblance long before, though it was a bit more of intuition than anything, and ichiro never did take that thought of his too seriously

he couldn’t help but pick up on the small details, such as how you always seemed to talk highly of the doc and certainly were the closest with him when compared with the other members

but, again, ichiro didn’t think much of it. he simply thought that you and jakurai just got along well, more so than the others. perhaps the two of you even hung out often outside of the group. honestly, he was happy to see both his girlfriend and one of his close friends get along

so when it’s first brought up that jakurai had actually taken you in, presumably, after you’ve been orphaned, he’s initially quite surprised to see that you guys were actually related (well, not by blood)

ichiro actually finds out when he brings up meeting your family since you guys were together for a while by then. you had met his brothers (who loved you a lot and saw you as an older sister might i add) once the three of them had made amends, and he was excited at the prospect of meeting yours

draws a blank when you tell him that he already had given that he didn’t know or actively talk to many people. but when he says jakurai offhandedly, not really expecting it to be the answer, ichiro practically does a double-take when you nod

“seriously?! man, i never realized”

he may have had his suspicions that both you and him were closer than ichiro realized, but a parental relationship never was something that crossed his mind. now that it was mentioned, however, he was able to draw on the parallels, ones he had missed beforehand

at the same time, ichiro is definitely interested to learn more, specifically how jakurai had found you, when he did, etc. he thought it was all so compelling and listened to the story rather intently

(and, honestly, he felt relieved to know that you were in such good hands. ichiro trusted jakurai quite a lot after all)

despite that, ichiro also knew that you were your own person and weren’t tied to jakurai in any way, shape, or form; so it never was a fact he brought up often, though he certainly did think that it was neat

at times though, he seems to forget it, and each time it’s brought up such as when you were describing what jakurai had made for dinner last night, ichiro is always taken aback each time before remembering that the two of you had this conversation before

well, he was a bit forgetful back then i like to think, though in an endearing sense

the thought of both you and jakurai being related or even being friends, really anything that’d require you guys being close, never did cross his mind, not in the slightest

i mean, what reason did samatoki have to believe that his girlfriend and teammate were somehow related? there never was anything that would hint at that, at least, in his eyes

samatoki , admittedly, had missed all the little details, such as your high regards of jakurai or how he was the one you talked about the most when the dirty dawg was brought up. he didn’t think much of it, perhaps finding it a bit strange at times but never anything he pointed out

if anything, samatoki just thought that you were also a fan of his or were simply acquaintances, nothing really that big. you guys just so happened to get along really

so when he first learns of it, when you so casually mention that jakurai was your adopted father during a conversation about family, honestly, samatoki sorta just blanks and goes “huh??”

it was something that seemed so out of the blue, so random even, but that’s only because he never did connect two-and-two together. never in his wildest dreams did samatoki think that perhaps his girlfriend knew and was related to someone on his team, especially not when the two of you didn’t even meet through jakurai

but then he recalls back to all the moments where it should’ve been at least a little obvious. all the times he had caught you alongside jakurai, and how jakurai, in particular, seemed to be rather fond and soft towards you

man, he really was so blind to it, samatoki couldn’t help but think

but it was also something that, after the fact, he brushed aside, not really thinking much of it. sure, it was quite neat to know that you two were related in some way, and it did peak his curiosity so he may ask for the story, if you were fine with that; but overall, it’s not something he was entirely bothered by

lowkey feel like he’d try and reassure jakurai that, even if he was a member of the yakuza, he’d take good care of you even though jakurai had no doubts at all. samatoki could be somewhat old-fashioned at times just like that

samatoki is a huge family man, as we know, so i’m sure he’d be happy to also know that you had the doc as your dad since he wanted you to have nothing but support and love coming from your home life, especially considering your past and all (assuming that he took you up when you were orphaned)

honestly, he also loves teasing you about it at times, smirking and saying stuff like how he’ll snitch on you to your dad if you ever did anything that was dangerous or so inconsequential, such as forgetting to take out the trash, or even just to fluster you

samatoki loved to see how flustered you got, thinking that you looked rather adorable, though it was all in good humor

The warm sun pouring into the classroom made napping on your desk a pretty good idea. Maybe a few minutes wouldn’t hurt, after all, it was the last lesson of the week and everyone was looking forward to the freedom of the weekend.

You rested your head on crossed arms, keeping your head up to make it seem like you were awake at least despite having tuned out the teacher’s voice a while go; the ticking clock was more interesting to listen to. Even if you wanted to, all you could focus on was the student sitting in front of you since that student just so happened to be the object of your affections. Ichiro couldn’t see you at all so you were free to longingly stare at him all you wanted. You couldn’t remember when you started having fluttery feelings whenever he was close by and you were long past denying that they were real.

A hand ran through his hair and you couldn’t help but wish it was your own. It was a shame you couldn’t see his eyes glimmer in the sunlight. At least this way Ichiro would be none the wiser to your pining. The urge to lean over and wrap your arms around his broad shoulders was too tempting, and his arms looked more than strong enough to support you weight if he did end up carrying you.

And his looks were just as appealing as his personality. He paid attention in class more than most would, studied enough to get decent grades, and was fairly nice to most people. Sure, he made a living out of beating people up and taking their money for his boss, but you knew he had good reasons for doing so. His sense of justice was unparalleled, even if his methods were a touch more forceful than most would be comfortable with.  There was a wholesome aura about him too, like his boisterous front was hiding someone more timid underneath, and from the times you’d worked together on classwork it was apparent that it came in the form of social interaction. You never expected Ichiro to be even the slightest bit shy, though when he spoke to you that was most definitely the case.

Humble, kind, and protective; he was all of those things and more, so there was no way you thought he could even consider looking your way, never mind anything else. Sitting behind him in class would have to do.

“…re you awa…”

“…ss is over…”

“Hm…?” You woke up, not realising you were asleep in the first place, to someone lightly tapping you on the hand. Once you’d returned to earth you saw who it was.

“…Ichiro?”

It may as well have been a page ripped straight from a romance manga. His hands were slightly touching yours, and for some reason he wasn’t moving them.

“You alright?” Ichiro looked genuinely concerned, his voice softer than you’d ever heard before. A gentle breeze from on an open window rustled his hair, that and the early evening glow made him look positively magical. Like this wasn’t really happening and it was all a dream.

Unsure that you were actually awake, you weakly responded, “Yeah, I’m okay… How long was I asleep?”

“Only a few minutes. Everyone’s gone though.” He gestured to the classroom, which was empty, save for the two of you.

“Ah…” Now would be the perfect time to pluck up the courage and try to become friends, or ask if you wanted to hang out somewhere, or anything. Yet, as you saw him stand up to leave you were reminded that no matter what your feelings were, he was just too intimidating. Or more like, the possibilities that you’d conjured up in your mind countless times were too intimidating.

What if he flat out rejected you?

What if he never spoke to you again?

What if he didn’t actually like you?

What if –

“D’ya wanna grab a drink and hang out somewhere?” Ichiro was still stood by his desk, without a shred of sarcasm or malice in his voice. And he was smiling. “Got anywhere to be now? ‘Cause I’m free,” he rubbed the back of his neck a little sheepishly, “we haven’t hung out before so it’d be cool n all.”

“Huh? Y-yes! I’d love to!” For a moment you were afraid that you sounded too enthusiastic, but you couldn’t help it.

Ichiro wasn’t deterred by your reaction. In fact, he seemed happy. A small pink blush even graced his cheeks, that he tried to hide by turning away as he spoke, “’kay, let’s go then. I know a nice spot.” He held his hand out to help you up from your chair, not noticing the unusually gentleman-like gesture until you took his hand without a second thought, standing up and packing your things away, all while Ichiro fiddled with his jacket. For some reason he was as nervous as yourself.

Only time would tell the reason why.

YESS THIS ONE IS FUN OKAY SO

Ramuda and saburo were the ones that stuck out the most for me!! I thought they were cute and liked the way they sang. Plus I was in love with Ramuda’s design👁👁

Notably, in the manga, Jakurai was going to chaffeur Hifumi and Doppo to their place, but then he had to go to work and so they rode the train with their prize money. You can tell Tom still respects Jakurai after all this time because he (the former) calls him (the latter) “Sensei”. Also, this’ll be interesting, we haven’t seen many mics and speakers beyond the standard bad guy ones (depicted in both the anime and the manga).

My gosh! All I knew of this song was that m-flo, also responsible for Human Lost’s theme song (and notably they’re a hip hop group with techno influences), was responsible for this song. Man, this s*** slaps! It’s great! (Sorry, I’ve just never really had the chance to capitalise on all the info I gathered on EDM DJs when talking in terms of things from Japan…m-flo is basically the only act I know which does that, so I’m really excited…can’t you tell from how verbose I’m getting in this note?)

That’s interesting that Matenrou won and Tom still took the gold chair symbolism to represent him and the Secret Aliens as the victor instead.

I’m not quite sure, but I think Ramuda said “majo” (witch) when he was referring to Beauty and the Beast in the English subs.

HypMic 13 (FINAL)

This is the beginning of the end and the end of the beginning…y’know, considering how stuff trended on Twitter, I’d say this anime’s gonna get a 2nd season, but you can’t really say that until it actually happens. I mean, Boueibu is much less popular than HypMic and that got a 2nd season…

This is the 1st episode where I woke up early enough to watch without spoilers and had no obligations to place over it, so…this is exciting, in its own sense, but in a sense, it could also be called “profoundly disappointing” because this experience is only available to me as of the final episode.

One of the tweets I saw a few weeks back came to mind – someone became interested in sakuga houkai (terrible animation, literally “animation collapse”) because of HypMic…I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing…

(Spoiler for rest of franchise) Hmm…Dice’s face is pretty straight. Assuming at this point we knew Dice was Otome’s son, this is a good poker face from him…!

This thing about gangs was mentioned in their profiles (although the words used implies they “went delinquent”), so it actually doesn’t surprise me.

I wonder if this subway exists in the mainline story…?

According to the next ep. preview I saw on Twitter, TDD will reform to take down the Secret Aliens. I’m not sure if that was a guess or whether that’s true, so I’m waiting for the shoe to drop on it.

…I knew it was far too early to say if there was an s2 – the DVD’s live events go until September 5th and the 2nd DRB finishes in March. That almost felt like a stinger right there. Oh well, I’m more than happy to call this anime a success, even if I would call it the worst of the arms of the franchise. Anime burnout means I’m coming back to the anime after the day it finishes.

This dancing scene is kind of like the one at the start of ep. 2 of IWGP, except it has the owl to represent the setting as well as the dance stage.

One more ep after this. I’m gonna miss this anime, even if it was crazy over-the-top and I didn’t finish it until after the day it ended.

I think the scariest scene in all of Akudama Drive is the one where the “cleaner” tosses the girl aside.

The blue bird of happiness…literally. That character on the birds is the one for “happy”.

It was 4 AM when I started writing this, I attempted to be a good and patient woman to NOT use the internet or see twitter for spoilers or the summary of the BB’s 2nd single Drama Track and I’m still in a whole mess of emotions because I read it after midnight, and it mildly ruined my night (at least not the whole day).

I just want to go back to the days where we all thought that the BBs were the most normal bunch of the original 4 divisions.

In all seriousness, though... spoilers ahead!

There’s LOTS I want to unload right here. From the way King Record releases the lore/info/canon, that leaves not too much into imagination just when they decide to dump EVERYTHING in just a couple of weeks from release from one thing (i.e. manga) to another (i.e. single/album releases).

It’s not only about the fact that it was obvious that Amayado was the Yamada’s dad, once the hints were clear as the day as info was revealed (i.e. Kuroda Takaya was asked in a recent interview about how he was cast as Amayado, one of the things he responded was that the staff gave on detail for his character as “someone who may be the ‘final boss’ and ‘the father of someone’”, or the lyrics from his own song (theorized to be responses for the BBs solos, music PRETTY well inspired by “Ore ga Ichiro”). I mean, come on.

I feel angry at this because, from the looks of it, there’s lots of sh*t that the Yamadas went through when they were younger, and the fact that they were some of the children victims affected by the WWIII thing, and the probability that Amayado (as if he deserves to be called by his name or real last name, lmao) wasn’t the “father of the year” either in the past, and the fact that he can... easily pay Jiro and Saburo a visit to... what? to force them to be stronger, to know their potential, to them betraying Ichiro...? 

Also, dude here is still mysterious as hell, you know... he is DEFINITELY pulling strings behind the scenes, he might have his own interests (and using CW for his own purposes)... and it makes me wonder more about Ichiro and his siblings... what I’m basically saying is that, the heterochromia doesn’t sound more as a “joke”, or for simple aesthetic character design purposes to me, anymore (?) (EDIT - if you go to Amayado’s profile in the official webpage, the subtlety isn’t subtle anymore, and you can see he also has heterochromia, HOWEVER... *insert thinking emoji here*).  “Father of the year”, right here. Ichiro did what he did (lying, more lying) because he wanted to give his brothers a better life... Amayado might be “looking after” them at a distance, but provoking them was such a dirty trick :))).

...The thing about Nemu... I don’t like it, lol. It was SO eventually going to happen that she was going to be recruited to be part of Central Ward in one way or another (it was also somewhat of a popular...? theory I saw back when she was introduced last year)... the last 2 chapters of the BTB manga give the perfect set up about it, actually (as it was ALL PLANNED ALONG): Nemu doesn’t like the way her brother acts and her views of unneeded violence are also pretty clear... heck, it definitely caught Ramuda’s attention, too. 

Now, the thing is... we don’t know if either Nemu is in there in good faith (like, for real, Party of Words seems to have good intentions on the surface, but we all KNOW that below it, it isn’t like that... I mean, if they would give me benefits -as a woman- and promises that the world “might change to a better place”, I MIGHT have wanted to work with them, too)... or that there’s a slight possibility she was brainwashed to be in (also, 19 years old seems pretty young in my book to be working as “vice-chief of internal affairs”??).

There’s also a chance that Samatoki knows it because Jyuto might told him about it. There’s a chance he kept getting released (because he is a Yakuza), not because Jyuto is just doing it because he likes it (or the whole “corrupt cop” thing), but because it was an order from above him - hers, his younger sister. But he blames Ichiro, because the info he received might have been manipulated, too, from starters... that he might influenced her to be part of CW’s government (and Ichiro obvs didn’t know ANYTHING about it until... just this one track).

Speaking of brainwashing, I have been thinking about this for a while, and the introduction of the real-deal hypnosis mic might be it. Clearly, the whole bit about Sasara doesn’t remembering much about why he and Samatoki fought, because it wasn’t like him... doesn’t sound too farfetched to think that the hypmics might be involved in some way or form. May be even the “real deal” one, too (and Ramuda might know about it and he might have taken it and used it, but he simply acts like he doesn’t know ANYTHING). I don’t discard at all it might have been also a base on why TDD disbanded, too (UGH, it’s still hush, hush, lol... but tbh, with all this dump of events in one track... MORE was going to kill us????). We already know they affect the humans’ psyche, after all, manipulating wasn’t out of rule... especially manipulating the users’ emotions.

For one, I really liked that we did saw DTH interaction with other divisions members (even if it was Sasara & Rosho vs Ichiro, and Jiro & Saburo vs Amayado), even if it clears out that there’s really not much bad blood between Sasara and Ichiro (kinda implying it isn’t too much bad blood between Sasara and Samatoki, either), but it was very stressing seeing the whole “KIDS, DAD IS HOME” little act with the other party involved. Really hoping that Ichiro clarifies stuff between his brothers again, and... you know... have all three of them TALK about it.

Hey, King Record, can we have some chill in canon lore material? I know you basically gave the fandom 5 months to chill before DTH and BAT’s reveal, but... I ALSO WANT THE CHARACTERS TO CHILL A BIT? AND NOT JUST IN SONGS?!

Geez, I miss those innocent days from early 2018 quite a LOT.

I’ll start with the theory I am one hundred percent sure I’m right on, and will be very embarrassed if it isn’t the case: Raoul is a direct descendant of Safie de Lacey.

Evidence: Raoul appears to be of Middle-Eastern descent. (I’m 100% convinced of this, though it’s mostly intuition and suspicion that Philippe almost called Raoul ‘the himyarite’ when being a bitch to Sorelli [it’s a term for a descendant of a specific Arabic empire] [THIS IS REALLY SHODDY EVIDENCE I KNOW I’M REACHING BUT HUMOUR ME])

The only two characters in Frankenstein and Phantom (that I remember) who are Middle-Eastern are the Daroga and Safie de Lacey. Pretty sure it’s been established the Daroga is not related to Raoul, so we can throw him out. Safie appears at least twice in chapter 3:

That’s definitely Safie running away in this flashback? Look at that profile - seems pretty familiar to me. Also: in Frankenstein The Creature talks about how Safie is incredibly pretty, and it’s been mentioned multiple times that Raoul is also incredibly pretty (though that low self-esteem can’t possibly help him). This is not like…. good evidence but it is some evidence.

Safie’s second appearance makes the resemblance between her and Raoul really really really clear:

Can’t see all of her face, but you can see she’s the spitting image of him. I’m 100% sure it’s Safie, and that the man touching her face is either Felix or his father - considering she’s holding his hand to her face, it’s probably the blind father. So we know Safie de Lacey looks weirdly like Raoul, and TDD is a brilliant character designer, so I doubt that’s unintentional. Pretty sure TC/Erik notices the resemblance too when Raoul sneaks in to the opera to give his letter to Christine:

Anyway, next theory is that Raoul either A) is already dead and has been revived via Frankenscience or B) will die and be revived via Frankenscience. The first thing that kinda made me think of that was this:

It’s like: same pose, same colour clothes, same blood imagery red stuff. Definitely a connection between them somehow, probably just narratively but I guess we’ll see. (Also the fact that Raoul’s mask at the masquerade was a SKULL??? something’s gonna happen to that boy AND IT WON’T BE GOOD) Also: Raoul is petrified of going back to sea with the Waltons, his hands are cold “as a corpse’s”, he’s confirmed to have lost a lot of weight while at sea (dying of an illness?), Philippe asks Christine if she thought she’d become a “rich widow” if she married Raoul, Raoul told Christine he didn’t expect to ever see her again when he went back to sea (probably cause he’s dying [or thinks he is]).

[What’s in his letter to Christine? Is it just his feelings? But she already knows he loves her! Is it telling her of his chronic illness? Or that he’s dying? Or that he’s dead? I physically cannot wait to find out.]

And (another case of the ‘is there evidence or is it my brain’) I think that TC/Erick and Raoul are meant to parallel each other more in the comic than in the books? Both come from mysterious origins, have abusive/negligent father figures, are outcasts to 1880s society, (have anxiety), have latched onto Christine as their one true connection with another human being. Them both being dead would only add to that list, I think.

(I have more theories but little textual evidence to support them, but these are my main theories, and this is not all the evidence I have! I just gotta put more together lmao)

i Enjoy scrabble and aggravation, which is this game w/ marbles which is like, 15% strategy and 85% luck so you can’t get too competitive 

 i haven’t played too many Video Games, especially not in recent years…i always enjoyed desktop games, like the point and click nancy drew games are my shit……later on like, portal 2 would be a great go-to game b/c usually i have a godawful hard time with Puzzles but the parameters of the puzzles in that game are so clear that i can actually enjoy it……i’m fond of amnesia tdd though i never finished it and the parameters of its puzzles are very much NOT clear. oh wait, then there’s all the shit we played via my brother’s Consoles Through The Years….the two of us taking a literal decade to beat donkey kong country….mario kart antics and driving the course backwards….we stan Galaga thanks to a namco collection and got to play it Arcade Style like a decade later at this convention lol….also on his ps4 we’d do Multiplayer stuff but really low stakes goofing around….ssbb but our real objective was just to desperately go after pokeballs and lose our shit if it was a meowth or invent really terrible maps named after pemberly (pemberdeath)….play uncharted and do terribly…….this lotr game he had was great too, like one map where we’d just ignore the Given Objective and get on horses and race around in a loop for like twenty minutes. that’s real gaming.
