[Owen] So, Emory, these are my friends.
[Emory] I’m surprised you have friends.
[Owen] Hahaha, you’re very funny.
[Emory] Thanks.
[Griffin] I feel like I haven’t seen you guys in forever.
[Silena] You haven’t, not since you started dating this guy.
[Griffin] I’m engaged to ‘this guy’.
[Owen] So, this is Ashlyn.
[Ashlyn] Your house is very nice, very large.
[Griffin] Thanks Ash.
[Emory] How did you two meet?
[Ashlyn] Senior year. I transferred from San Myshuno.
[Emory] Oh, cool.
[Griffin] She’s the only one of them I’d classify as an ‘adult’.
[Ashlyn] Thanks Griffin.
[Silena] Hey! I’ll have you know I am an amazing adult.
[Owen] This is Silena.
[Griffin] What ‘adulting’ do you do, Lena?
[Silena] Uhhh, I work in an office for starters.
[Griffin] Oh wow, an office! Amazing.
[Silena] What ‘adulting’ do you do Griffin, huh?
[Griffin] ...You serious? I have four kids, I’m a teacher and I’m engaged. Checkmate bitch.
[Silena] You’re the worst.
[Owen] Anyway this is Valentin, my best friend.
[Emory] And you?
[Valentin] This is Dezzi, my boyfriend.
[Emory] I should’ve guessed that.
[Silena]They have literally been glued at the hip since they started dating.
[Owen] Disgusting.
[Valentin] You’re just jealous you can’t cuddle me anymore Owen.
[Owen] Shut up, I’ve been in a relationship longer than you!
[Valentin] Still though.
[Griffin] You and Val cuddled?
[Owen] No.
[Valentin] Yes.
[Owen] Shut up Val, this is why I don’t bring you anywhere.
[Griffin] You ever finish college Val?
[Valentin] Nah, I was just there for the parties. Dropped out first year.
[Griffin] Ah.
[Emory] Is that how you met Dezzi?
[Valentin] No actually, met through Instagram.
[Emory] That actually happens?
[Valentin] Apparently.
[Emory] Hm.
[Silena] So, like, when do we get cake?
[Griffin] Are you just here for cake?
[Silena] And to meet, like, your daughter or whatever.
[Emory] Cake will be after everyone gets here and we’ve said hi. Feel free to eat though, don’t gotta wait.
[Silena] Fu-frick yeah!

A list of the most notable books I’ve read since Verity (and what I rated them on Goodreads)
Circe by Madeline Miller ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read this one a long while ago so I don’t remember much but I do remember feeling Circe’s sadness and heartbreak flow from the pages and wishing that I could give her a better life than the one she was given.
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolutely cheesy with fan fiction vibes but I still really enjoyed reading it. It was predictable and the characters probably weren’t as flushed out as they could’ve been but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A heartbreaking romance that I remember pissed me off more than a few times with the way that it played out. I enjoyed the way that it incorporated poetry into the story.
The Entire Princess Diaries Series by Meg Cabot ⭐️⭐️⭐️-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love the Princess Diaries movies so I knew I would eventually have to read the books. They were a lot different from the movies but Michael was one of the best male love interests that I’ve encountered in a YA novel. They definitely dragged at parts and it was clear that they were written for a much younger demographic than I am a part of but even when they were repetitive, they were still enjoyable.
Teen Killers Club by Lily Sparks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolutely wild and not what I expected in the slightest. I don’t remember the romance aspect being my main draw; instead I really enjoyed the way the main cast interacted and the setting was wildly different from most of the novels I read.
The Lost Girls by Sonia Hartl ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sapphic tragic vampire teen romance, what’s not to love?
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Horrific in every sense of the word, the world that Margaret Atwood creates is not one I wish to live in but I don’t really want to exist in the one that inspired the book to be written either. Atwood pulls out the horrors of life in America and highlights the worst possible outcome of taking these horrors to their extreme.
The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Well-written but it truly glorifies the mental struggles of the sisters and their paths to suicide in a way that I feel is harmful to readers. Please don’t pick up this book if you are in a negative headspace.
While We Were Dating by Jasmine Guillory ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cute romance between an actress and a producer set mostly in San Francisco. They help each other to overcome their biggest fears and in the end they come out the other side as stronger people for it.
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Picked this one up because Taylor Swift wrote a song for the movie adaptation and I was not disappointed! The story is enticing and it pushes you to care for Kya, flaws and all.
I Kissed Shara Wheeler by Casey McQuiston ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
YA mystery-romance featuring a quartet of love-hatable main characters. If you know Casey McQuiston you can very easily guess who the main couple will be, but the other leads will draw you in just as much to their lives and the lives of their friends. Set in a Southern Private Catholic School, it tackles the intersection of religion and queerness and refuses to leave out the messiness and the beauty that come when they interact.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I felt my heart break for Evelyn Hugo and I felt myself waiting for a happy ending where I only ended up with a bittersweet goodbye. The ending was satisfying in a heart wrenching way.
Beach Read by Emily Henry ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Adorable. My first Emily Henry read and I am so excited to pick up her other books. January and Gus have such great banter between them and their story is so intriguing that I read it in one sitting.
As you can tell by this list, I love romance novels and I almost never rate a book below three stars. Some of these I disliked more than others and some of these I wholeheartedly adored. One of these books on the list I was so excited for its release that I waited in line for three and a half hours to get my copy signed by the author. I’m sorry to say, I don’t have many words on the books I’ve read (unless you get me talking about them in person) but I’m not really the best at writing reviews. See you all again in a few months when I once again remember to update this blog on what I’ve been reading!

[Ainsley] Everyone! We have an announcement we’d like to make. Owen and I are expecting! [Johnny] Expecting what?
[Annette] Johnny!
[Johnny] What-oh. A baby.
[Annette] Yes, you nitwit.
[Emory] Congrats you two!
[Mosey] Congrats!
[Ainsley] Thank you, thank you. We’re both very excited! Right, Owen?
[Owen] Yeah, stoked.
[Jax] You excited too, Grandpa?
[Jack] Stop calling me that, and of course.
[Jax] Y’know, I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone say they were ‘stoked’ for a baby with such little enthusiasm.
[Owen] Well what else was I supposed to say?
[Jax] Not stoked! What are you, sixteen? Is it the nineties again? Are we surfers now?
[Owen] She put me on the spot!
[Jax] She put you on the spot? When you were announcing your baby?
[Owen] Yes.
[Jax] Are you...not actually stoked for this baby?
[Owen] Not...entirely.
[Jax] You are not entirely stoked?
[Owen] Will you stop with the stoked?
[Jax] You said it. Wait, so you didn’t mean to have a kid?
[Owen] Obviously not, I’m still finishing school, I work shit hours, and I still live with my dad!
[Jax] Then why are you having a baby?
[Owen] When two people love each oth-
[Jax] No, I know HOW! I said why?
[Owen] Because we are? Ainsley wanted too? A lot of reasons out of my control?
[Jax] So then why are you happily announcing it?
[Owen] I’m not, I’m just going along with it.
[Jax] You are going along with having a child. You know that’s like, an eighteen year commitment?
[Owen] Yes Jax, I am aware.
[Jax] Actually no, it’s not just eighteen years. This person will be yours ‘til you die!
[Owen] I know that!
[Jax] Then why are you just going along with it!
[Owen] Because what the fuck else am I supposed to do?
[Jax] I don’t know but that seems dumb.
[Owen] Look, Ainsley and I talked about it and she really wanted to keep it, so we are.
[Jax] Oh my god, you called them an it.
[Owen] Fucking whatever.
[Jax] It’s not whatever, they’re gonna be your kid.
[Owen] Again, I am aware of that. What am I supposed to do? Leave? Be some kind of deadbeat dad who, what, shows up when the kid’s sixteen?
[Jax] Wow, okay...just wow.
[Owen] I didn’t mean that.
[Jax] But yet, you said it.
[Owen] Okay, well, Jax it’ll be fine.
[Jax] Tell me that again, after the baby’s born.

Confess- by Colleen Hoover book review
Confess" by Colleen Hoover is a compelling tale that intricately weaves together themes of love, loss, forgiveness, and redemption. Set against the backdrop of an art gallery where anonymous confessions are displayed, the story follows the journey of Auburn Reed and Owen Mason Gentry as they navigate the complexities of their pasts and their burgeoning relationship.
The narrative begins with Auburn, a young woman with a troubled past who finds herself in a difficult situation, desperately in need of money to support herself and achieve her dreams. This leads her to take a job at an art studio owned by the mysterious and talented artist, Owen Gentry. From their initial encounter, there is an undeniable chemistry between Auburn and Owen, but both are burdened by secrets that threaten to unravel their connection.
Central to the story is the concept of confession. As part of Owen's art exhibit, people are invited to anonymously confess their deepest secrets, which are then turned into works of art. These confessions serve as a catalyst for the characters' emotional journeys, forcing them to confront their pasts and the choices they've made.
Auburn's backstory is revealed gradually throughout the novel, shedding light on the challenges she has faced and the sacrifices she has made in order to survive. Her strength and resilience in the face of adversity make her a compelling protagonist, and readers will find themselves rooting for her as she navigates the complexities of her relationship with Owen.
Owen, on the other hand, is a complex and enigmatic character with his own demons to contend with. His art serves as a means of catharsis, allowing him to express his innermost thoughts and feelings in a way that words alone cannot convey. As Auburn and Owen grow closer, they must learn to trust each other and confront the secrets that threaten to tear them apart.
One of the novel's strengths lies in its exploration of the intricacies of human relationships. Hoover skillfully captures the highs and lows of love, portraying both the joy and the pain that come with opening oneself up to another person. The chemistry between Auburn and Owen is palpable, and their romance is both tender and passionate.
However, "Confess" is more than just a love story. It is also a story about the power of forgiveness and redemption. As the characters grapple with their pasts and the mistakes they've made, they are forced to confront their own vulnerabilities and learn to let go of their pain in order to move forward.
The novel's pacing is brisk, with short chapters that keep the reader engaged and eager to uncover the next twist in the story. Hoover's writing is evocative and emotionally resonant, drawing readers into the world of the characters and making them feel every triumph and heartache along the way.
In conclusion, "Confess" is a captivating and emotionally charged novel that will appeal to fans of contemporary romance and heartfelt storytelling. With its memorable characters, poignant themes, and gripping plot, it is a book that will stay with readers long after they have turned the final page.
