Mona is the traditional cake eaten for Easter in Catalonia. Though in other parts of the Catalan Countries it looks more simple, since the 19th century in Catalonia it has evolved to be decorated with colourful feathers, baby chick figures, and chocolate hens or eggs.

Quello che ha visto la gente su Instragram.

La verità?

Mi sono svegliata, ho fatto colazione, ho pulito la mia stanza, ho fatto la lavatrice, mi sono fatta un culo quadrato al quadrato per preparare queste lasagne solo perché IO le volevo fare, perché in qualche modo volevo festeggiare la Pasqua pure se qui non si sente niente un cazzo e non c'è niente che lo potrebbe far ricordare (tutto diverso dal Natale) e dopo, mica ho finito, nono, ho dovuto cucinare pure per la prossima settimana.

Una giornata in cui sono veramente ESAUSTA e vorrei solo un altro giorno per riprendermi... ma, guess what? Domani di nuovo sveglia alle 6:40 (e ora è quasi mezzanotte) 👍👍👍

Portugáliában Húsvét vasárnap és hétfőn is nyitva vannak a bótok és a piacok. Persze osztrigát is lehet kapni 50 centért. Nem kifejezetten húsvéti étel, de azért finom, pláne, ha egy kis pezsgővel öblíted le.

Today, many people in Catalonia and Andorra will be singing caramelles.

The tradition repeats every Easter Saturday in the evening and Easter Sunday in the morning and noon. Groups of people go around the town, house by house, singing songs.

They carry a basket on the top of a wooden stick, so they can raise it to balconies and people can give them something in return. Traditionally, people gave them eggs (for this reason, caramelles are called goig dels ous in Northern Catalonia) and/or money so at the end of th day they could make a communal meal all together. Nowadays, some towns keep the eggs tradition while many others give food, sweets and money. (In my town, the children's groups save the money to go to the amusement park Tibidabo all together).

In some areas, the caramelles singers also dance some local traditional dances between songs.

It's unknown when the tradition started, but written documents from the 16th century already mention it in rural Catalonia.
